- 0:00Speaker 1: This program to give you am in one of.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello Sailor Boy heard from my sailor son Festus. So,
- 0:12Speaker 2: as you remember, a week or so ago, he received
- 0:15Speaker 2: an accidental package that I did not mean to send
- 0:18Speaker 2: to him because I was ordering stuff on Amazon and
- 0:22Speaker 2: I had his address put in instead of mine, and
- 0:24Speaker 2: he ended up with dog treats which he can't use.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It's a good thing it wasn't ladies, unmentionables.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I was just glad it wasn't something really heavy. I
- 0:34Speaker 2: would have felt horrible if I accidentally shipped something heavy
- 0:38Speaker 2: all the way to Diego Garcia, which is the island
- 0:40Speaker 2: where he is stationed.
- 0:41Speaker 1: A case of bowling balls, for instance.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yes, but I had sent him on purpose a package
- 0:48Speaker 2: the carry had helped me put together with a bunch
- 0:51Speaker 2: of comic books, and I put some treats in there.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I put some Mexican what kind of treats?
- 0:58Speaker 2: UH, some normals, more clusters from from UH, from Costco
- 1:04Speaker 2: and uh so some stickers. I put some X ninety
- 1:08Speaker 2: six stick If you go to X ninety six dot
- 1:09Speaker 2: com slash live you can see the contents of the box.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Some stickers from radio from Hell and UH. I sent
- 1:18Speaker 2: him some packets of taco sauce from Taco Bell because
- 1:22Speaker 2: he misses Taco Bell. And uh here here's what he
- 1:26Speaker 2: wrote to me. Okay, uh the comics, thank you so much.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I'll think I'll keep my favorites out spider Man, Batman,
- 1:34Speaker 2: Deadpool obviously, and then have some available for patients to
- 1:38Speaker 2: read in the waiting room here at the medical clinic.
- 1:40Speaker 1: The richie and he's talking about the Star Trek comics.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He says, I'll try to come up with some fun
- 1:48Speaker 2: ideas for them too, because I told them there's a
- 1:50Speaker 2: bunch of them. I said, you should like distribute these
- 1:53Speaker 2: around the island.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And there's more on the way.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yeah. Carry Carrie brought me another bunch, he says.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Everyone at the clinics, thank you, Mama, Gina and Uncle Carry.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I said, I said, oh, I'm so glad it finally
- 2:07Speaker 2: made it to you. Then I said, and you can't
- 2:09Speaker 2: see it in this picture. I said, By the way,
- 2:12Speaker 2: I found one of our very last challenge coins.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Now, what's a challenge coin.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And the Radio from Hell challenge coins Radia Radio.
- 2:20Speaker 2: From Hell challenge coin challenge coins? Are they use them
- 2:23Speaker 2: in the military, police fire departments. Carrie's actually showing you one.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Oh we have oh.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You've got you've got a radio from Hell one?
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I was going to say, this is a
- 2:31Speaker 4: this is a Disneyland Park park officer one.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, because these are I found one in
- 2:38Speaker 2: my desk. There aren't very.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Many of them.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But what so, what you do with a challenge coin
- 2:43Speaker 2: If you're a military person or police officer, firefighter, you
- 2:47Speaker 2: keep these with you and when you are at a
- 2:50Speaker 2: bar and you pull out your challenge coin to challenge
- 2:54Speaker 2: other people in the military or police officers, firefighters, and
- 2:58Speaker 2: they pull out their challenge coin and who whoever doesn't
- 3:00Speaker 2: have one has to has to buy that round of drinks.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And if everybody has one, everybody leaves the bar immediately
- 3:08Speaker 1: and goes home to bed.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But Bill kind of got into these a while ago,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and we had some, and we had some made for
- 3:15Speaker 2: the show. So I found one, and I thought that
- 3:17Speaker 2: would be a fun thing for Festus to have. So
- 3:19Speaker 2: here's what I said to him. I said, I found
- 3:21Speaker 2: one of our very last Radio from Hell challenge coins,
- 3:24Speaker 2: So be very careful who you choose to trade it with,
- 3:27Speaker 2: because that's something else. Severally, and he said, when I
- 3:31Speaker 2: was opening the box at work and started showing everybody.
- 3:34Speaker 2: My friend started crying when she saw the coin because
- 3:37Speaker 2: she doesn't have a relationship with her parents, so I
- 3:40Speaker 2: gave it to her. I always share the chocolates that
- 3:43Speaker 2: you send with everybody, so you are now known in
- 3:45Speaker 2: the clinic as Mama Gina, and I said, oh, please
- 3:50Speaker 2: give her a hug from Mama Gina. I hate hearing
- 3:52Speaker 2: about kids, especially those who are serving, who don't have
- 3:56Speaker 2: love back home to count on. And he said, well,
- 3:59Speaker 2: you might not know, but everyone here loves you. But
- 4:01Speaker 2: it got me thinking. You know, I worry all the
- 4:05Speaker 2: time about Festus because he's out in the middle of
- 4:07Speaker 2: nowhere and I haven't seen him in months.
- 4:09Speaker 3: But I talked to him, you know, and I send
- 4:11Speaker 3: him gifts and stuff.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But there are so many service members that don't have
- 4:16Speaker 2: family that's checking on them, and don't have family that's
- 4:20Speaker 2: sending them packages. And so I'm I'm going to start
- 4:23Speaker 2: something now that I'm hoping is going to grow a
- 4:26Speaker 2: little bit. Well, I asked Festus, I said, can you
- 4:29Speaker 2: send me the names of everyone in your clinic and
- 4:32Speaker 2: some kind of treat from back home that they miss
- 4:35Speaker 2: that they can't get that's nice, and Carrie has given
- 4:39Speaker 2: me more.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I got more and I still have more on the way.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And I'm going to make a little, a little package
- 4:45Speaker 2: to send.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:46Speaker 1: This is if I were in that clinic and so
- 4:49Speaker 1: Fastest came to me and say, what's something from back
- 4:51Speaker 1: home you missed that my mom can send you, And
- 4:54Speaker 1: I'd say a five hundred dollars bill. I really miss
- 4:57Speaker 1: I really miss having a five hundred dollars bill.
- 5:00Speaker 3: But I'm going to start here with this.
- 5:03Speaker 2: But I'm going to try to find a way because
- 5:05Speaker 2: I know if I talk about this on the air,
- 5:07Speaker 2: friends of the programer listening, going, well, I'd like to
- 5:10Speaker 2: help and maybe send something.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I think there are some organizations who do that.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah, So I'm going to look into it some more.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Because I would like I just feel bad for people
- 5:19Speaker 2: that aren't getting love from.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Back home good luck, because I looked into this about comic.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Books, yeah, and it was it was, it was complicated.
- 5:31Speaker 4: So if you can find an organization that's doing that, terrific.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I've got more and more comic books to send. And
- 5:38Speaker 1: have you ever seen a five hundred dollars bill? They're
- 5:40Speaker 1: really cool.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Well, at the very least I'm going to get some
- 5:44Speaker 2: stuff to the clinic where Festus is working for those
- 5:49Speaker 2: people there. But but geez, it's just you know, they
- 5:54Speaker 2: they are they've chosen to serve our country. They're far
- 5:59Speaker 2: away from from home and their friends back here at least.
- 6:03Speaker 2: But to not have that touchstone of well, somebody, somebody
- 6:06Speaker 2: somewhere else is checking in with me and loves me,
- 6:09Speaker 2: that that breaks my heart.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They're you know, they're they've chosen to serve our country,
- 6:13Speaker 1: or they've been offered that instead either jail, or go
- 6:17Speaker 1: join the military, or go to jail a judge, judge
- 6:20Speaker 1: will give you that option.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I'm choosing to think of this in a positive way.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Bill, Well, I listen, they deserve, they deserve a love
- 6:28Speaker 1: and attention to not something. I'm not discriminating. I just
- 6:32Speaker 1: you shouldn't discriminate against it. But uh, now people are
- 6:37Speaker 1: wanting to send stuff.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Well, let's I'm saying.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I'm I'm gonna investigate this and I will let you
- 6:44Speaker 2: know what I find. Because I knew if I brought
- 6:46Speaker 2: it up there would be friends of the program that
- 6:48Speaker 2: would like me.
- 6:49Speaker 1: We'll have plenty of stuff to donate.
- 6:51Speaker 4: We've got to figure out how to get it to Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 4: that's the tricky.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Does anyone have access to a five hundred dollars bill.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Because I because this box that I sent him it
- 7:02Speaker 2: took like almost a month to get there.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Now he's in a very remote area, but it's I'm
- 7:10Speaker 2: sure there is some kind of already existing entity that
- 7:15Speaker 2: maybe can get things there fast.
- 7:17Speaker 1: How long to be there?
- 7:19Speaker 3: He's only there one year.
- 7:20Speaker 2: They consider it a hardship assignment, so they're like, yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 2: it sounds great to live on a on on an island,
- 7:28Speaker 2: but we're only going to make you do it for
- 7:29Speaker 2: a year or so. He's put in for his next
- 7:33Speaker 2: orders because he'll be done in September, so it's pretty
- 7:36Speaker 2: pretty fast.
- 7:37Speaker 4: But that's a Deadpool comic. By the way, is a
- 7:41Speaker 4: Marvel DC team up. It's Batman and.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Dead Oh is that rare?
- 7:46Speaker 4: Well, it's it's they printed a bunch of them, but
- 7:48Speaker 4: it's it's it's it's an odd pairing.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's a one time yeah exactly.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Someone says, why not create a public Amazon wish list
- 7:57Speaker 2: and let people go in and buy as necessary. That's
- 7:59Speaker 2: not a bad idea because actually, as much as we
- 8:02Speaker 2: hate Amazon, it gets things there way faster than you know.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It got my dog treats there that I didn't need
- 8:10Speaker 2: to send.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Oh darn it. The five hundred dollars bill hasn't been
- 8:13Speaker 1: printed since nineteen forty five.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Well, then it's very rare if you find one.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Yeah, well, since nineteen sixty nine, banks are required to
- 8:22Speaker 4: send five hundred dollars bills to the Department of Treasury
- 8:25Speaker 4: for destruction.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah. So, yeah, you dreamed it. If you have one,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you know, you know what it's worth, three thousand dollars.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Wow. I don't think anyone's going to give you one.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's a collectible. Oh okay, there you go, Hello sailor boy.
