- 0:30weekend coming up a two-day event in Vegas WrestleMania 41
- 0:34and I'm this episode we're gonna talk a little bit of all
- 0:37but once again I tend to mention to people that
- 0:39my podcast for the most part is an
- 0:42extension of my life and one of the things that I love and
- 0:45I love is wrestling since the day
- 0:48I think I was born I've been watching wrestling that long
- 0:51and I love wrestling and i enjoy
- 0:54the sport the sport of wrestling i love
- 0:58it but we're here we're making it
- 1:00happen hit the like hit the share button you know hit all whatever good button
- 1:05that is a button that says i'm listening to this podcast and let's get on with
- 1:10this show because there's a wrestling theme out there for those wrestling fans
- 1:14who are listening to this podcast it's my first i believe If it's my first podcast,
- 1:19all my podcast that I told wrestling, I love wrestling.
- 1:23I've been in a couple of Injuring Afternoon, Witchy Perfect.
- 1:26Other podcasters out there that are into wrestling, and we love wrestling.
- 1:32So I've been talking wrestling and other podcasts except mine,
- 1:35but that's all good because my podcast is all about different topics,
- 1:38and we're doing it, and we're talking wrestling.
- 1:41And my love for wrestling, let's get it. and
- 1:44for those people out there who love wrestling i
- 1:47wonder your favorite wrestler i'm off the bat i'm gonna
- 1:50tell you i'm a big sean michaels fan who's no
- 1:53longer wrestling he's my favorite wrestler of all time i already started the
- 1:56episode some people like what you know i'm a prayer heart rake flair
- 1:59mr perfect hulk hogan macho man
- 2:03undertaker rake flair the list goes on
- 2:06and on and on and on all great wrestlers but sean
- 2:09michaels the heartbreak kid sean michaels
- 2:12let's get it's my heart definitely favorite wrestler of
- 2:15all time and i had to tell that off the bat and off
- 2:18the bat we go we make it and happen wrestlemania 41
- 2:22saturday and sunday to give you a little uh
- 2:25this is wrestlemania 41 people already for those
- 2:28out there i was a young kid or too too
- 2:31young for wrestlemania 1 and then wrestlemania
- 2:343 100 the giant hulk hogan So WrestleMania
- 2:38is like this Big event in wrestling And being in the WWE Used to be WWF But
- 2:45being in WWE now It's a big event It used to be a Sunday Night One event type
- 2:51of thing But those WrestleMania and I remember And it turned out to a two-
- 2:56How can I say? Saturday, Sunday, two-night event because after COVID or during
- 3:00COVID, they had to do kind of like different tapings.
- 3:03I think that's probably like the best thing that they ever done because we get
- 3:07to watch a lot of our wrestlers,
- 3:09a lot of wrestlers that we tend to like but won't appear on WrestleMania because
- 3:14sometimes in order to be in that call, you have to be involved in some type of storyline.
- 3:19And the biggest storyline at the moment is going to be the main event of WrestleMania
- 3:24night two, John Cena, Cody Rhodes.
- 3:27Let's get it. It's going to be a lot of great things. And I'm looking forward
- 3:30for the CM Punk, CM Punk, CM Punk, Seth Rollins.
- 3:34And she the tribal original Roman Reigns.
- 3:39That'll be night one made event. So that should be interesting.
- 3:44And I think this is like Roman Reigns 100th made event.
- 3:49Love the dude. I enjoyed the dude sometimes you can't get
- 3:52enough but hey listen see young punk see young punk see
- 3:55young punk so that's the storyline to that situation so
- 3:58it's definitely you know i enjoy the the the two
- 4:01event thing the two night event because it
- 4:04used to be like when it was on sundays it was
- 4:06this like long five hours show and sometimes you get
- 4:09fatigued and even the fans get fatigued unless something
- 4:13happens and then or unless there's like a spot when i
- 4:16say by spot you know for those who are wrestling fans you guys don't
- 4:19understand what it's a spot fest or whatever it is but those
- 4:22who are not wrestling fans and get in want to get into the
- 4:25wrestling it's that basically it's a little moment where
- 4:29you know something happened you either go oh ah what and then you clap this
- 4:35is awesome you know you do something like that you know and sadly on a five
- 4:38hour six hour event sometimes you you lose that kind of like you know that that
- 4:45respond that energy to be like ah,
- 4:48because you've just been watching and you got wrestling fatigue.
- 4:51And the best thing is, once again, those two nights are going to be beautiful.
- 4:55One of the things that leading to WrestleMania is kind of like,
- 4:59you know, in a sense of the Super Bowl, like we have the Super Bowl,
- 5:03which is a one game, you know, the Super Bowl is played in football,
- 5:06American football, two teams,
- 5:07two final teams, you know, doing their thing, whatever it is,
- 5:11leading to the Super Bowl. Forget about it.
- 5:13You know, the media, people do the media coverage, all this stuff.
- 5:16So basically WrestleMania is no different.
- 5:20There's a lot of big names, whether it's Rollins, like I said,
- 5:24John Cena, Charlotte Flair, who's competing for the belt, New Day.
- 5:29You know, you got all these Ripley, Bianca Belair. You got EO Sky.
- 5:33You got all these wrestlers that are going to be appearing in these shows,
- 5:36in the mainstream show, whether it's Good Morning America, ESPN, all this good stuff.
- 5:41So it's always good because, you know, there's a lot of people out there.
- 5:46And I think that now is like the coolest time to be a wrestler.
- 5:49And it used to be that if you're an adult, you know, you're kind of high,
- 5:52like, you know, from being a wrestling fan.
- 5:54It used to be that thing. Because sadly, what happens is this.
- 5:57I always say wrestling is a sport. It's a sport.
- 6:00You know, those people are like sports entertainment. And those people who,
- 6:03let's say, I'm the one to say wrestling is a sport.
- 6:06Somebody is going to say, yeah, but wrestling is, you know, fake or whatever.
- 6:10Let's put some respect to the men and women out there that put their, you know, how can I say?
- 6:16They put their body on the line for us to be entertained in a sense.
- 6:19And what for us to watch these individuals are, you know, like I always say,
- 6:23let me hit you with a chair. Let's see what happens. And I'm not condoning that.
- 6:27Let me put you in a headlock, four figure, four figure, whatever, headlock.
- 6:33Let me put you on one of those situations. You're going to see what happens.
- 6:36You're going to be like, oh, it's going to hurt.
- 6:40So we look at, for me, been watching wrestling since I was born in Puerto Rico.
- 6:45So Puerto Rico had their own little wrestling thing.
- 6:48The greatest Puerto Rican wrestler of all time. There's no question about it.
- 6:53Carlos Colon, if you're familiar with that name, his son, Carlitos Colon,
- 6:58and I think his other son at one point, Primo Colon, I believe Carlitos Colon
- 7:02is still doing his little appearance in the E.
- 7:05But Carlos Colon, the father, I mean, this dude is a legend.
- 7:08I don't know how old is he.
- 7:09I think it's like 70, 80. But if you ever look at his matches with Abdullah
- 7:13the Butcher, the Invaders at that time, TNT, which is Savio Vega.
- 7:19I mean, you know, Puerto Rican wrestling is a little bit different because it
- 7:22kind of gives you a little flavor of what ECW, which is the Extreme Championship
- 7:29Wrestling, where it's a little bit hardcore and there's some blood.
- 7:33And you got to keep in mind that there are wrestlers who want to,
- 7:37you know, how can I say, make it this show of wrestling secrets.
- 7:43But when somebody bleeds, a lot of times it's what they call blading.
- 7:47So as a wrestler, if I get hit by a chair, if I don't open up,
- 7:52I go somewhere where I hide under the ring or something, and I use a blade to
- 7:55cover my head so I can start bleeding.
- 7:57To make it real, you know, not a fan of the blood like that because some people
- 8:02be gushing. Some wrestlers be gushing.
- 8:05But it gives you that sense of that realism that there's a bitter rivalry or
- 8:10there's something going on and you know and in Puerto Rico that that was that
- 8:14thing because it made it real it made it,
- 8:16it made it personal you know what I mean and Carlos
- 8:20Colon and Abula the Butcher I mean if you ever seen Abula
- 8:23the Butcher you know he's a stocky man
- 8:26you know black Canadian and uh
- 8:29I mean if you ever see his forehead i mean his
- 8:32forehead it's a little they just say that
- 8:35you know it's not for the faint of heart so growing
- 8:38up puerto rico even though my understanding
- 8:41and if you out there that are listening uh that you're a big you know wrestling
- 8:45wrestling historian my understanding puerto rico was never an official territory
- 8:50of the nwa whatever wrestling alliance it was just in its own territory but
- 8:55there was a lot of wrestlers well there's abdulla the butcher who's Canadian and fought in America,
- 9:00a couple of WCW and other events, I mean, other organizations.
- 9:05You had Red Flair, who would make an appearance, fought Carlos Colon.
- 9:09You had the Ugandan giant Kamala, King Kong Bundy.
- 9:13You know, these are famous known wrestlers that made appearance in the territory
- 9:17down there in Puerto Rico.
- 9:18Sadly, there was an incident that happened in the late 90s where an American
- 9:23wrestler by the name of Bruce Brody got into some type of altercation in a locker room.
- 9:29And apparently one of the Puerto Rican wrestlers who happened to be the promoter,
- 9:34the story goes something about money, that he got stabbed, Bruce Brody.
- 9:38And then sadly, he passes away from the loss of blood or something to that effect.
- 9:43And that gave like a little black eye to the, you know, to the territory.
- 9:47There's some American wrestlers that did not want to wrestle there anymore and things of that nature.
- 9:52So growing up and watching wrestling, we had different promotions.
- 9:57You had by that time, WWE would come on one hour and WA, which basically kind
- 10:04of say, you know, Ric Flair.
- 10:06It kind of moved into like what, you know, World Championship Wrestling,
- 10:09WCW, in the mid-90s, late-80s, whatever it is.
- 10:12So it was a hotbed territory and a lot of people, and I think this happened
- 10:17on Saturday, that we had like two or three blocks of nonstop wrestling.
- 10:21We got the Puerto Rican promotion going on.
- 10:23I think it was the World Council, WWC or something to that effect, Carlos Colon.
- 10:29And then, you know, Hogan would appear on TV.
- 10:32Well even even a little bit of hogan iron chic you know
- 10:35people andre the giant you know once again i did you know vick flair
- 10:38woof woo so for
- 10:41me watching wrestling it was just from a
- 10:44young age and then me i i personally
- 10:47watch for some reason i i
- 10:50watched wwf wwe more and i
- 10:53gravitated to that obviously because it was the most
- 10:55popular it is the big league of wrestling if
- 10:58you will and you have little promotions that have
- 11:01up here uh whether it's ecw ecw
- 11:05ecw i'm a big was a big ecw
- 11:08fan extreme shabby shit wrestling paul heyman
- 11:12and i'm crazy guys out there doing some crazy stuff but sometimes a lot of you
- 11:17know a lot of people forget that even in ecw that those storylines there were
- 11:21some storylines that were behind the wrestling matches you know That's Tommy
- 11:27Dream of Raven. You already know.
- 11:29That's a new Jags.
- 11:33All these people, they're doing their thing, you know, for those ECW fans,
- 11:37Sabu, or Ra Van Dam RVD, RVD.
- 11:43So I'm just giving you a little bit of everything when it comes to wrestling
- 11:47because, again, wrestling is very endearing to me.
- 11:50I would hope that one day, and I'm not going to say I hope, I definitely will,
- 11:55and I could imagine I'm going to manifest in this, but that's why we got a little
- 11:59donation button For those who feel free.
- 12:03One day I definitely would love to attend WrestleMania, for sure.
- 12:08I would love to attend both nights. And I want to say, hey, listen,
- 12:11I'm not here to be on the front row seats.
- 12:14I'm more of a, give me some space. Give me an aisle and give me somewhere close
- 12:20where I could get me some beers and I could use the bathroom.
- 12:23That's my mindset when it comes to attending sporting events.
- 12:28Give me somewhere where I'm in that vicinity. I'm not here to be like,
- 12:32oh, I said here in front row, whatever the case might be.
- 12:35Looks like you can't drink beer in front row. I don't know. I'm just saying.
- 12:39So definitely one of my things there is, listen, I would love to attend a WrestleMania.
- 12:44I've attended a few live events, whether it's tape Monday Night Raw or whatever
- 12:50the case might be, or SmackDown.
- 12:53Some of them are what they call house shows that are not on TV.
- 12:57But you always have a lot of fun kids there. you know in in the fans and and
- 13:02you know wrestling fans are very devoted and now yes wrestling is a kind of
- 13:07a family thing but you know once in a while and even now in this generation
- 13:12is kind of leading towards you know kind of like that uh what is it the mid-90s attitude era,
- 13:17you know puppies whatever it is well not the puppies for
- 13:20those who are not the puppies not sure what the puppies is you know you had
- 13:24a lot of uh women with uh augmented uh chest there you know so let's relax on
- 13:30that let's not go to that raunchy side of wrestling but you know more dope kind
- 13:35of you know dropping the s-bomb or maybe sometimes the f-bomb here and there hey listen.
- 13:41Sometimes these wrestlers whether it's john cena you
- 13:44know cody roden you know roman reigns they dig you know they they show emotion
- 13:48set wild and say listen and that's the beauty and the art of wrestling is that
- 13:54it's it's it's a beautiful art and yes some of the things are kind of yeah predetermined
- 14:00whatever the case but that's all people,
- 14:02What's your entertainment? What do you like to watch? Do you like to binge watch
- 14:06Netflix? What's the difference there?
- 14:09You're watching a show that you most likely will know the outcome,
- 14:12but a good show will elevate you for you to be like, I want more.
- 14:17And that's what wrestling is.
- 14:19And the fact that these men and women out there, great wrestling, they put on a good show.
- 14:25Sometimes they put on a stinker. People be like, boring.
- 14:29Or as i would call it or we end up
- 14:32wrestling people out there they call it fillers they
- 14:35put these matches where you know people are not
- 14:37interested in this it's the matches where people could just go and use the
- 14:40bathroom whether you attending or whether you at home
- 14:43ah let me make this little quick thing because wrestlemania hey we
- 14:47eating what we eating we eating pizza we eating we be
- 14:49doing something on uh night one i don't want
- 14:52to cook night two might be a little bit different
- 14:55maybe throw a little bit of burger something you know nice and
- 14:58good something hearty you know what i mean and
- 15:02when wrestlemania uh you know
- 15:05uh they go to these places and uh and like i was
- 15:07mentioning i would love to go to wrestlemania obviously i'm
- 15:10in new york city they did uh i believe they used to do
- 15:13wrestlemania was a thing on master square garden it came out a
- 15:16couple of times but the wwe kind
- 15:19of like these now big events so because it's a
- 15:21big event you want to be in these stadiums that
- 15:25are like 70 80 90 000 people attending
- 15:29so maybe maybe they'll do a new york city thing where the first night would
- 15:36be a master square garden and then perhaps the second night would be uh somewhere
- 15:42where perhaps yankee stadium who knows they never did a yankee Stadium won,
- 15:47but just the fact that Master Garden and the WWE.
- 15:52You know, those two things come in hand in WrestleMania, so I will hope that
- 15:56the brains that might be, the minds that are behind WrestleMania,
- 16:00that probably do a little kind of little New York City homage to Master Square Garden,
- 16:06you know, again, night one, to avoid all that cause,
- 16:09you know, I know that they'll probably get one in MetLife, which is Jersey,
- 16:12the Giants, Jets stadium, but we got Yankee Stadium, you know what I mean? Hey, why not?
- 16:18You know, talk to the Yankees. You know, sadly, because it's April and it's
- 16:22the beginning of the baseball season.
- 16:25It might be an issue, but hey, listen, figure that one out, Yankees.
- 16:29Bring it home. Bring it home. Bring WrestleMania home.
- 16:32I mean, the WWE headquarters is in Connecticut, Stanford. Hey, listen.
- 16:37Get that little tri-state thing going on because we doing it. That's for sure.
- 16:41But my love of wrestling and, you know, once, you know, there are times that
- 16:47I'll be the first one to admit.
- 16:49I don't necessarily be like, oh, let me watch Monday Night Road now that it's on Netflix.
- 16:53Because sometimes what I like to do is I like to go to these
- 16:56wrestling website or catch my uh a
- 16:59couple of my uh podcast brothers in arms sister in
- 17:02arms and uh where'd she catch on
- 17:06delivering and you know i'm up to date on the wrestling thing
- 17:08going on so even though i might not watch
- 17:12it because sometimes what happens is on a monday i'm a
- 17:15little sleepy from work i wake up
- 17:18early to go to the gym at four o'clock so that eight
- 17:21o'clock i'd be like yeah you know now
- 17:24because it's on netflix now you could watch it replay whatever it
- 17:27is you don't have to watch it live but sometimes i
- 17:30just like to do the youtube and listen to the clips or whatever it is
- 17:33you know keep me up to date on what's going on because one of the things that
- 17:37would describe wrestling would be that it's a basic soap opera with people that
- 17:42do things in the ring you know i like you know that's a fair assessment you
- 17:47know and that's why i say what's the difference.
- 17:51You know what I mean? Don't tell me, hey, wrestling is fake and wrestling is
- 17:54this and that. It's an art. It's a sport.
- 17:57There's a lot of sports out there that are live that are predictable.
- 18:02You know, when you're watching, let's say, the Super Bowl between the Eagles
- 18:05and the Chiefs, once the Eagles started putting up numbers, what became predictable
- 18:09is that you know that the Chiefs will try to make a comeback, then they,
- 18:14whatever it is that happened, But it becomes predictable.
- 18:19Well, okay, if the Chiefs gave it all on the second quarter,
- 18:22on the third quarter, there's no way they're going to come back on the fourth.
- 18:25So sports in itself, even in the life sense of the football,
- 18:30baseball, and all that, it becomes a little bit predictable.
- 18:33What are you going to do? You're going to stop watching it because you know what's going to happen?
- 18:37And sometimes that's what happened in wrestling because there are people that might know,
- 18:41but sometimes that unpredictable moment when John Cena,
- 18:44And that's the reason why we got John Cena In the Wrestlemania event Is because
- 18:50well John Cena turning heel Turning the bad guy Turning his back on Cordy Rhodes
- 18:56The son of the great Dusty Rhodes Who became champion Who is the champion at
- 19:00the moment You got John Cena, boom,
- 19:03Nice kick in the nuts And you see The Rock making that little sign Like finish
- 19:09him You know he's the final boss,
- 19:11So those little stories like that,
- 19:14Those little events, those little things like that is what, you know,
- 19:18keep fans on the edge of the sea like, hey, what's going to happen next?
- 19:22Oh, I can't wait for WrestleMania.
- 19:24John Cena, Cody Rhodes. Ah.
- 19:29For some reason, I think that John Cena is going to win the match.
- 19:33You know, run a little heel.
- 19:34You know, supposedly he's kind of retiring from wrestling.
- 19:39You already know John Cena does a couple of movies. He's got that show. Still in with that show.
- 19:45He got a show on Mac somewhere. It's about a comic book.
- 19:49I tend to forget. I don't even want to Google it. But it's season two.
- 19:52I enjoy season one and it's season two coming up. If I'm not mistaken.
- 19:56So, hey, John Cena, you know, he got some things to do. He needs to,
- 19:59you know, free people. You know what I mean?
- 20:02He needs to free his family. He needs to free his ego, whatever it is.
- 20:06Got the movies, the commercials, and all that.
- 20:09And wrestling was that vehicle. We've seen with The Rock, Stone Cold.
- 20:13We've seen a lot of known figures out there, especially with The Rock,
- 20:19which is probably the most kind of successful, in a sense, star out there that came from the WWE.
- 20:26It was wrestling that gave him that vehicle to get him where he's at now. He's the final boss.
- 20:33Worth God knows how much worth. Hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 20:37And on top of my head, I can't think which are my favorite match.
- 20:41Growing up, there was a lot of matches, a lot of good WrestleManias that I've
- 20:45seen. Last year's WrestleManias was good.
- 20:48We had ECW one-night stand. That was also good.
- 20:52Sometimes once again you know once in a while we get celebrities bad
- 20:56bunny you know we get these celebrities to
- 20:58jump in and do a little wrestling match snooki from
- 21:02the famous jersey shore and then you got you know arguably the most how can
- 21:08i say the most famous wrestler perhaps uh the person that whether you like him
- 21:12or not hulk hogan was inch instrumental to where the wwe at now you know sadly you know.
- 21:21There's a lot of people, a lot of wrestlers that kind of like talk about Hogan
- 21:24behind the scenes, not a fan of Hulk Hogan, kind of anti-union type of guy.
- 21:30You know, these wrestlers, you got Bret Hart, who's trying to organize wrestling,
- 21:35which is not unionized, get wrestlers medical benefits and so on.
- 21:39So, you know, another great wrestler.
- 21:42So we got a lot of great wrestling. And like I said, this is the history in WrestleMania week.
- 21:48We're here. We're making it happen.
- 21:50I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy the show.
- 21:52I'm pretty sure that I'm going to just sit there and bask. I think my best time
- 21:57is that, hey, listen, me personally, I need to relax.
- 22:01None of that afternoon day drinking for the day of WrestleMania because by the
- 22:05time WrestleMania starts, because they do start early, 7 o'clock,
- 22:10I think it's like a three-hour thing, but I believe in total it's going to be
- 22:13like nine hours or something like that.
- 22:15We got a lot of these uh they they trying to bank
- 22:18on the uh uh these shows uh
- 22:21you know the pre-game because again it's built kind of like a super bowl but
- 22:26you got these like hours long or pre you know pre-game you know pre-match talk
- 22:32talk kind of like selling because it's going to be on peacock so the pre-match
