- 0:00Babe about Bow banker management Fantasy hockey podcast Whoo
- 0:04whoo. Woo.
- 0:07Cool. Welcome in y'all to Bangor
- 0:10Management, The Fantasy Hockey Podcast with Jake, Josh and
- 0:14Kevin today. What's today, Kevin?
- 0:17Is gonna be the day. That they're gonna throw it back
- 0:20to you. Right now.
- 0:24You should have somehow. Alright, that's enough, but
- 0:27before we get caught, I gotta do.
- 0:30Little episode, it's just us. Three ways singing songs.
- 0:34Yeah, ohhhhh. We have karaoke story that's.
- 0:39Really funny story, I learned how to play guitar.
- 0:43Like, I don't know, it's like almost 10.
- 0:44Years ago, it's like. One of the things that inspired
- 0:47me to play was that I heard Josh play Wonderwall by Oasis.
- 0:54Yeah, Josh, play guitar. I yeah I haven't played in a
- 0:57while but I know a couple 4 chord songs got some under my
- 1:01belt. Both of you play guitar.
- 1:02We don't have an original Jingle for anger management.
- 1:06We're just moving. For Wenger management.
- 1:09Instrumentals in there to complement the woos you.
- 1:11Know what? My voice is my instrument.
- 1:15Yeah, I'm well aware. That's something that's
- 1:20something we're gonna OK, I don't like.
- 1:22We're probably gonna get that for next year, but I feel like
- 1:25the fans are gonna miss our woos.
- 1:27No, we do both, obviously. Who's gonna be there?
- 1:29We can't undo the woos. Yeah.
- 1:31Yeah, well, let us know in the discord if you're gonna greatly
- 1:34miss our Jingle, but we'll figure something out.
- 1:37And I think there's a lot of harmonizing that we can do and
- 1:41make it a. Pretty strong.
- 1:43Really hard on this Jingle. I, I still remember vividly us
- 1:48being in my living room trying to come up with like what we're
- 1:50gonna do. And it was like, I think it was
- 1:53like a McDonald's, McDonald's like knockoff.
- 1:55It was that what it was? I don't know, no copyright or
- 2:00copyright, whatever the whatever the right thing is to say here.
- 2:03Trademark patent pending. Yeah, don't sue us.

- 2:53And yeah, great time to. Join we're close to 300 in the
- 2:56discord so that would be cool to cross the 300 mark before the
- 2:59end of the season. Obviously we saw multiple weeks
- 3:01left so no doubt we will hit it unless I just jinxed us but.
- 3:06We all know what happens when we hit 300.
- 3:09What happens? Enlighten me?
- 3:11Karaoke episode, right? You know, I would love if people
- 3:17just wanted to listen to me karaoke for.
- 3:18Us, if we hit 150 reviews on Spotify, we're currently at like
- 3:2490 something right now. If we can hit 150 Spotify
- 3:27reviews, I will genuinely make a tick tock of me trying to do any
- 3:31kind of booty shake that is physically capable of my of
- 3:33myself. I will, I will.
- 3:35I'm putting it out there. It won't be pretty, but it'll be
- 3:38what you guys asked for, so. That's OK, We gotta make this
- 3:41happen. Josh and I was saying I will
- 3:45sing any song using any song that is voted the highest in the
- 3:50discord. We reached there, so we have a
- 3:52song while I try to throw it back.
- 3:54So that's that's. Great.
- 3:54Yeah, and I could do a lot of languages too.
- 3:57I know I could do the Numa Numa song in Romanian.
- 4:00I know 99 Luft balloons in German.
- 4:03So I will do my best for whatever gets voted the most.
- 4:09Alright, and you play guitar. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:12That's. What I'm here for cool let's I
- 4:16was getting a little hot topics. Let's do that.
- 4:19OK, first Hot Topic. God, this hurts, but I guess
- 4:23we'll just get into it. Connor Hellebuyck, What is his
- 4:26rest of season outlook after that monster game?
- 4:30As a comparable we can look at Jordan Bennington last year
- 4:33right? Where he was garbage and then
- 4:36has an unreal 4 nations and then just has an insane finish to the
- 4:39season. Can we expect a similar
- 4:42resurgence from Connor Hellebuyck?
- 4:45I mean, Connor Hellebuyck, if you look at the the advanced
- 4:47metrics, he was by far the most like saves above expected in the
- 4:52tournament. I think he was at like close to
- 4:53six. And the second closest was like
- 4:55Saros at like 4 1/2 or something like that.
- 4:57But I mean, that final against Canada, he went just absolutely
- 5:00nuclear. And I think if you're a Connor
- 5:02Hellebuyck owner, like you've been sad the whole season pretty
- 5:04much like he was injured for awhile.
- 5:08But I honestly think coming back from this, like I just feel like
- 5:11he's gonna be close to Connor Hellebuyck that we expected.
- 5:14And this is tough because I feel we had few other recently.
- 5:16We were just like so low Connor Hellebuyck.
- 5:18It was like Connor Hellebuyck or John Gibson.
- 5:19Who are you taking? And I think we all went John
- 5:21Gibson at this point given like Winnipeg is just dog awful and
- 5:26Hello Book was awful, but now like who are you taking?
- 5:31I don't think I, I think I I stayed.
- 5:33Hello. Bug.
- 5:33I think we all looked up gifts. I'm putting it into the world.
- 5:36I know I was. I was a I was a hater.
- 5:38Yeah, I'll admit it. I'm not gonna revise anything.
- 5:40I know people could pull the tapes on me, so I'm just gonna
- 5:43be honest. I was saying some crazy names
- 5:45that I would. Take.
- 5:46I know, I remember that. Yeah, I was a pretty big hater.
- 5:49Look, it's hard to give so much weight to something that
- 5:52happened outside of NHL season, right?
- 5:55He also like fact is that yes, his competition was hard, but he
- 5:58was also playing with someone like an insane decor same team
- 6:02as a whole. He's going back to Winnipeg,
- 6:04which is not a good team this year.
- 6:05So just like the same thing. Yeah, even though it's
- 6:09day-to-day. And I mean, look, the same thing
- 6:10could be said for Bennington last year, right?
- 6:12So I don't know. I wouldn't expect it to be like
- 6:16that level. I don't think he's gonna
- 6:18suddenly become the best goalie in the league again, but I
- 6:22expect him to do better than he was doing before.
- 6:23Is your top 10 goalie rest of season?
- 6:25What do you think, Jackie? I think so.
- 6:27I mean, off the top of my head is like Vasilevsky, Blackwood,
- 6:30Ottinger, that's three. Would you be willing to put
- 6:32there? Would you take Igor top 10?
- 6:36I don't know. Yeah, I I feel like if I have do
- 6:38you take halibut or ego? That's a good.
- 6:39Question. I'll take Hello book.
- 6:41Really. Yeah, I think The Jets have some
- 6:44sort of glimmer of hope. And I, I mean, as much as they
- 6:49look horrible in the standings right now, it's they're like
- 6:54three wins away from being in 5th place in the Central.
- 6:58And I don't even think it's impossible for them to overtake
- 7:00Utah for 4th. The top three are a lock.
- 7:03They're way stronger than anyone else in that division.
- 7:06But I think that they're going to make a serious playoff push.
- 7:11As much as I am not necessarily confident they'll make it,
- 7:15they're going to try for sure. They're like they'll overtake
- 7:19the they'll overtake Nashville, they'll overtake Chicago.
- 7:22I have little doubt of that. And I think they're eventually
- 7:26probably gonna overtake. Utah OK, so he's top five then?
- 7:30Yeah, I think he could be top. Five like it's your who who or
- 7:32the other top goalie would want. Like Kemper has been dog water
- 7:35but like he's usually around that conversation thanks to Rock
- 7:39and insane Yeah no God sent us been there Latinos to win a lot
- 7:44of games. He's a very.
- 7:45Small so hello back. I'm pretty sure I said
- 7:47confidently over Gibson, but there was the time where I think
- 7:50I took Grieves over Sorokin and that was a huge mistake.
- 7:52Yeah, I'll own up to it when I made the.
- 7:56Just got a shout out. 4111 out of 6 compared to.
- 8:02Yeah, I think, I think Vasilevsky, Sorokin are are two
- 8:05goalies I'm confidently taking over and Blackwood, really.
- 8:09And Ottinger, that's four. And then and then it may be and
- 8:14then it may be getting into Hellebuyck.
- 8:15Territory mean you're getting into.
- 8:17After that, it's the Logan Thompson's The Gust of Sins, the
- 8:20Busies. I don't hate Brandon Bush
- 8:23either. I was gonna say, I don't know if
- 8:26I can say he's top 10, but I I still think he's good.
- 8:29But whatever. Yeah, I think, I think honestly,
- 8:32it's in the top five to 10 range.
- 8:33So that's kind of where I'm at. Which is crazy.
- 8:36We were I think we had him at like top 20 like 3 weeks ago, 4
- 8:40weeks ago. And it's crazy how just like,
- 8:42you know, a few games at the Olympics really changes things,
- 8:44but it's. I don't know, I'm not ready to
- 8:47crown him the top five to 10 goalie just yet.
- 8:50I just think I have to see how he does on Winnipeg, you know,
- 8:54like Jake could save McDavid a breakaway out with that Team USA
- 8:57in front of him. OK, so.
- 8:59Even though that there's nobody between McDavid and the
- 9:02breakaway. Yeah, Yeah, exactly.
- 9:04Yeah, it's all about the. Lives in the 46th anniversary of
- 9:08Miracle on Ice. Exactly.
- 9:11No, it's just like it's on the one hand, I don't want to
- 9:14discount the Olympics because we saw what it did for Bennington.
- 9:19Clearly like played at a different level.
- 9:21Yeah, but I'm saying like Bennington last year with the
- 9:23Four Nations, right? Like it showed that stuff
- 9:25outside of NHL play could have an impact on your rest of
- 9:28season. But at the same time, it's hard
- 9:30to just not to, you know, I want to stop myself from getting too
- 9:33caught up in the hype. Like he had one good game.
- 9:35It's not like he was that good the rest of the tournament.
- 9:38He the rest of tournament was Team USA was really good.
- 9:40He wasn't like bailing them out or anything.
- 9:42That was the one game where. You begin as well.
- 9:45That's true, that's true. I mean, I'm not he didn't play
- 9:47bad. I'm just saying that like the
- 9:48finals game was really the only one where I felt like he stole
- 9:51was like a big factor. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:53So like one good game is that enough to one good game plus
- 9:56being the best goalie last the. Super high stakes.
- 9:59Though, Yeah, I don't know. I think he's gonna be better,
- 10:02but I don't think he's gonna be top five.
- 10:03Woolley. If he didn't, yeah, that's the
- 10:05last thing a lot on this. But if you didn't have the
- 10:07pedigree that he does, then I'd feel a lot less confident.
- 10:11But he is like, I mean, there was a reason he was the pick the
- 10:14highest goalie this year, right? Yeah.
- 10:16So I think that this was just like the resurgence that he
- 10:18needed. And if it wasn't him, if it was
- 10:21anybody else, I would be like, OK, like, I'm not really
- 10:23thinking about it that deeply just because of how good he has
- 10:26been in recent years. I think that he could have a
- 10:28very strong finish. If you have Hello Book, are you
- 10:31trying to capitalize on this Team USA gold medal hype and
- 10:34trade them? If you can get one of those top
- 10:37five goalies, I would. Yeah, and also if like if my
- 10:40knee is to to, you know, if I, if I have like another two
- 10:43decent goalies and I wanna play or sure.
- 10:46But at the moment I'd rather kind of just keep him because I
- 10:51don't think like, I think people trying to buy him are not going
- 10:55to give the top five. Would you give me, would you
- 10:58trade Bussy for halibut right now?
- 11:00Yes. Fake by Duboc Little.
- 11:03Pussy and bathers. That's a little too much.
- 11:07I actually don't think I would like not necessarily do that
- 11:10cause I think it's it's close enough.
- 11:11But busy, busy for hell. But I feel like some leagues,
- 11:14you know, the manager was like, finally I can get him off my
- 11:16roster and other leagues are gonna be like, finally he's
- 11:20back. Yeah, I can buy him.
- 11:23I don't know. I.
- 11:23Think that could get done? I don't think that's a crazy
- 11:26trade offer. I don't even know which one I'd
- 11:28rather, honestly. But he just signed a contract
- 11:31extension for like 1.5 million or whatever it was.
- 11:34Saying I can't believe. How they got that deal done?
- 11:36But it makes no sense. They're starter for like less
- 11:38than two mil. How he's not like really their
- 11:41starter, right? Like.
- 11:42Anderson is gone and Kochetkov is like always.
- 11:45I was gonna say dead, but like, I don't.
- 11:47Know yeah no I mean I get it my instinct also was like this is a
- 11:51ridiculous like steel but he's only played like this is the
- 11:54only reason he's ever played and played like 20 games or
- 11:56something you know it's a for him like he's on he's kind of
- 11:59like a relatively nobody who you know made a bunch of money was
- 12:02getting a bit off track here but.
- 12:03I think, yeah, yeah, I think, I think it's gonna be a good rest
- 12:06in Outlook for Hello Book. Yeah.
- 12:09Let's go to the right on that same vein, what do we think
- 12:12about Jack Hughes's rest of season outlook after scoring
- 12:15that golden goal? Losing a couple teeth, maybe
- 12:17shows up with some golden teeth, you know, who knows?
- 12:20But yeah, what do we think? Do we think that?
- 12:22I mean, we've been talking about Hughes in part with Brad and
- 12:25kind of like that whole New Jersey, like top guys, top power
- 12:28play unit as bounce back candidates for a while.
- 12:31Do we think that he's finally healthy from that hand injury?
- 12:34Because pre pre Olympics it seemed like he still was, you
- 12:36know, playing injured. Um, but now it seems like
- 12:40everything's better. You know, he's right in that
- 12:41high. Is he gonna finish off the
- 12:43season as that like late first round pick that most people
- 12:45grabbed him at? This is the opposite of the
- 12:49Central Division. I think the Metropolitan is
- 12:51loaded and is really, really going to be tough for them to
- 12:54advance. But they're also, they're not
- 12:57out of it either. They're gonna try and yeah,
- 13:00they're definitely gonna. I think the Rangers and the
- 13:02Flyers are the only two teams that I'm counting out of the
- 13:05playoffs in this division. I don't think either of them are
- 13:08going to make it. And then between the other 6, I
- 13:12think it's kind of Fair game, honestly.
- 13:14Except Caroline is the only lock.
- 13:17Other than that, even Pittsburgh, especially if Crosby
- 13:19does miss some time. So I think like, that's kind of
- 13:21like an overall macro approach to this.
- 13:23And then if you kind of get into the nitty gritty of it all, if
- 13:26this team is to succeed, it's gonna be would Jack Hughes
- 13:31succeeding? There's no way that the Devils
- 13:33are going to do anything without him being involved.
- 13:35And I think that this could lead to a slight yes for Brad
- 13:38resurgence as well as we've spoken about a little bit
- 13:41overall, I don't think he's going to suddenly turn into
- 13:45necessarily like, you know, a 2 point per game counter guy.
- 13:49But 1.1 to 1.3 rest of season, I don't think that's out of the
- 13:52cards. I I really like the potential of
- 13:56Jack used to end the season. I think I've been higher on him
- 13:58than most for throughout the whole year.
- 14:01I've bought him in many leagues. We talked about that trade I
- 14:04made earlier, like Batherson and Hyman for JQ.
- 14:07That was a big one when I did that and then he got hurt like
- 14:10shortly after. So it was like I was kind of not
- 14:12happy about that. But I think coming back after
- 14:15the, the momentum and the adrenaline of scoring that, you
- 14:18know, game-winning goal in the Olympics for your team in
- 14:20overtime, and then coming back on a New Jersey team that, you
- 14:24know, a lot of their top guys went to the Olympics.
- 14:26It was, you know, he sure. And Timo on the on Switzerland
- 14:29and, and Brad playing 6 minutes and he's gonna come back with a
- 14:33vengeance after Team Sweden did him dirty.
- 14:36So, so I'm, I'm thinking they all take that experience.
- 14:39They come back and they, you know, keep staying locked in and
- 14:42they turn up and I think New Jersey can finish the season
- 14:44strong. I don't think they make the
- 14:46playoffs, but I think one of those teams that is not
- 14:48interested in like punting the year, I think they're gonna try
- 14:50and delivery last game. So I'm expecting big things from
- 14:54Jack. I think he's gonna get close to
- 14:55his four shots a game. I'm expecting at least a point
- 14:58per game and up and I think the power play can really go off.
- 15:00So I'm excited about this devil's team, but I was excited
- 15:04always. So I'm just still keeping it up
- 15:06and hoping that I'm vindicated and not let down.
- 15:10Yeah, I agree. I'm very ill.
- 15:12I've been high on Hughes the whole year.
- 15:13I've been trying to buy the whole year and now it's
- 15:15definitely too late. So yeah, yeah, I think it's
- 15:17gonna be great and the season for him.
- 15:19Alright, next we've got Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay
- 15:22Lightning. I feel like it's been a while
- 15:23since we've had the chance to talk about him.
- 15:25Obviously he's still injured there.
- 15:27I haven't seen any news about him yet in terms of when his
- 15:30return timeline looks like. I know when he originally got
- 15:34injured they were like he's out for the Olympics, but he's not
- 15:36out rest of season. It's not as bad as it looked,
- 15:38but and the day we still don't know, right.
- 15:41So I don't expect him to be back this week because I feel like we
- 15:44have heard something by now. So is this someone that you
- 15:47wanna buy still? Are you still trying to like
- 15:50grab him? Do you think he's coming back at
- 15:52some point rest of the season? And if so, do you think you can
- 15:54be, you know, the player that he was drafted to be rest of the
- 15:57season? Uh, look, if he does play, I
- 16:04think that I think that he's going to have a super strong
- 16:07finish. It was a very rocky year for him
- 16:09all year. How this is going to work is
- 16:11that he's going to take line 1 centre and he'll play with maybe
- 16:17not even Kucherov, like maybe it'll be like line 2, but I'll
- 16:19play with Denzel or Hagel. So he'll be very well positioned
- 16:22for success. He'll also be on power play 1.
- 16:25And the fact that this team, it was clicking on all cylinders
- 16:29without him and then you just inject them into the lineup,
- 16:32he'll be sick. And you know, we can't forget
- 16:35that right before the injury, he was doing really, really well.
- 16:38He was cold for the vast majority of the year, then was
- 16:41going on an absolute terror and then unfortunately got hurt.
- 16:44So I think that he can kind of just like if there are going to
- 16:47play him, then it means that that he's healthy enough to
- 16:51play. I don't think they're gonna rush
- 16:52him back to the lineup because they are in a good position for
- 16:54the playoffs. And that, to me, would indicate
- 16:58that he's gonna play. He's gonna play well.
- 17:01Yeah, I mean, I'm in the same boat.
- 17:02I mean, as we speak, I think most of you guys are passive
- 17:04trade deadline. But if you're still able to
- 17:07trade for Britain point, I'm looking through that ASAP.
- 17:11I know I'm probably going to answer a lot of questions in the
- 17:13discord come everybody's trade deadlines.
- 17:15I'm already getting them about Brennan point, what to do?
- 17:17Who do I trade them for? But if you have point, I'd be
- 17:21very happy. I'd be very confident about this
- 17:22production rest of season because when healthy is going to
- 17:24be line one power play one playing with Kucherov.
- 17:27I think honestly there's like arguing maybe no better place to
- 17:29be in the whole league. So we know how high he can he
- 17:33can play in terms of talent level.
- 17:35He's also goal scorer too. I feel like people forget that.
- 17:37Like he he can score a lot of goals and a lot of points that
- 17:41are valuable, even categories. You still want guys that will
- 17:45score more than they assist type of thing.
- 17:46So I like point a lot. And like I said before, I mean,
- 17:51we just uploaded a short form content like sell Brandon Hagel
- 17:54right now, because when point comes back, he's probably going
- 17:57to lose that power play 1. So that's just kind of like ties
- 17:59everything together here. Yeah, OK, here's a more niche
- 18:06one, but, uh, as Habs fans, it's fun to talk about Patrick Line.
- 18:10How does a potential trade affect his value?
- 18:12I was seeing that in over the course of the Olympic break.
- 18:16He's pretty much close to healthy.
- 18:17I think he is healthy. They just haven't officially
- 18:19activated him. But what I saw from a finished
- 18:21source training the Olympic break is that he's pretty much
- 18:25essentially an LA king already. So yeah, look, we'll see what
- 18:29happens. It hasn't been announced yet in
- 18:31the trade freeze lifted at midnight last night.
- 18:33That may affect yeah exactly. But but I think like if he goes
- 18:40to LA, which it seems to be rumored that he is, I see him
- 18:43slotting in his line 2 power play 1 and I think that could be
- 18:46it could be a very interesting spot right powerfully 1.
- 18:49He could be like the finisher on the for planarians like passes.
- 18:52Sure. Exactly.
- 18:54Yeah. Thank you.
- 18:59Referencing our waivers episode from last Sunday.
- 19:01Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 19:04So I, I think that like, look, I don't expect him to do anything
- 19:075 E 5. I think like that's just not the
- 19:09type of player he is anymore. But if he's just a power play
- 19:13merchant, last year he was getting like .37 power play
- 19:16points per game. Like sure he didn't play a lot
- 19:19right, but that's a that's elite power play production.
- 19:22So I'd be interested in picking him up if he got straight to LA.
- 19:26I don't know you guys. Think I mean, I'm always on just
- 19:28the team that like I just don't want to roster him.
- 19:31I just I think he in my mind, he's kind of like a Kuzmenko but
- 19:34more power play as opposed to anything else.
- 19:36And I think funny enough, like you would be just, you know,
- 19:39he'd replace Kuzmenko on the power play 1 and I think he'd
- 19:42have value there. But I think line 2 is arguably
- 19:45generous with his defensive capabilities.
- 19:47I can easily see him see him be like a line three guy line
- 19:51three, line 4 playing power play 1.
- 19:53And then if you're so bad, you end up getting demoted for power
- 19:56play one too. Because the team wants the guys
- 19:58that are not living up to the hype, but the guys that are
- 20:01contributing to be on that power play 1.
- 20:03And maybe they can leverage this, but I feel like trying to
- 20:07put him there training for him because they're desperate
- 20:09because they need somebody to replace Fiala.
- 20:12And also they're honestly helping to have that with
- 20:14getting the contract off the books.
- 20:15So I feel like, you know, there's just the cap room.
- 20:17If they have the room this season, his contract expired at
- 20:19the end of the year. Like it's basically just a
- 20:21rental for them. But I mean for them it's like a
- 20:24no brainer. They need they need somebody to
- 20:26replace Fiala. And why not get like a guy that
- 20:29has a good shot that maybe they can leverage for their power
- 20:32play. That's already been dog awful.
- 20:34So yeah, I can see him having some, but it might be too 1
- 20:37dimensional for my liking. So I wouldn't be interested, but
- 20:40I can see how some people would be.
- 20:42Yeah, I think, I think whether he stays on the Hobbs or gets
- 20:45traded, this is not the year that he's gonna have any sort of
- 20:48resurgence. Honestly, as much as it seems
- 20:52like his career is kind of like dead in the water, it's like
- 20:56this year he's basically been injured the whole year.
- 20:59Last year had injury issues in the year before, but then 2223,
- 21:03which is not that long ago, he was almost point per game.
- 21:05The year before he was a point per game.
- 21:06There's nothing possible that yeah, but I don't think it's
- 21:09impossible that next year he comes back and actually is a
- 21:12decent player, but there's not year for that no matter what.
- 21:15I don't wanna roster any team this year in a dynasty league or
- 21:18anything like that. Like I'm not like completely
- 21:20dropping him. I don't think he has 0 hope but
- 21:22for redraft this year, no matter where he is, I'm not interested.
- 21:26We said that last year. I guess I'm the outlier here
- 21:28because I think I think he can have some value, like if he's on
- 21:32a power play 1 somewhere, but I also think that you could pick
- 21:35him up and then drop him a week later.
- 21:37You think Hillary will be, you know, encouraging LINAE when he
- 21:40sees him not backtrack or anything like that?
- 21:42You think he's gonna like that type of player?
- 21:45No, I, I just think that if they trade for him and they, they
- 21:48actually play him, look, if they trade for him, they're either
- 21:50scratching him or putting one power play one.
- 21:52That's my opinion. I don't see like what value does
- 21:55he have? Is he if he's not on power play
- 21:561 and like you don't have to trade for him.
- 21:58So if you're trading from it's to play him and if you're
- 22:00playing him is to put him on power play 1.
- 22:02So look, he's going to do nothing at even strength.
- 22:05But if he gets you, like he could take three shots on a
- 22:07single power play. You know, if he just sits there
- 22:08and claps bombs from like the you know, the the hash marks
- 22:12like the entire power play just Panarin just saucing and stuff
- 22:15and he just launches and he scores 1 every like 2 games or
- 22:18three games something like that like it's.
- 22:20Unlikely they might need just a little guy like line 4 power
- 22:24play 1 and I guess they're power play going from like 29th to
- 22:2718th and honestly it'll be a huge success for them.
- 22:30So I don't hate it. But for fantasy I'm like, I
- 22:33don't know how reliable that is. I'd rather just pick up Corey
- 22:35Perry, who's already like a power play kind of specialist
- 22:38there and get that value. But we'll.
- 22:41See, I think that's fair. Still all hypothesis I
- 22:45definitely I'm definitely not high on line a I just think that
- 22:49he. Could you?
- 22:49Heard it here for first line. Better than McDavid, not as good
- 22:55as Josh Norris. So so if he does stay on the
- 22:59Hobbs then world I'm interested though.
- 23:01Yeah, no, he has. To get you wouldn't make the
- 23:03roster. I don't know like.
- 23:05Yeah, honestly, I think he's been healthy for a bit.
- 23:07Honestly, I think they've just been keeping him on.
- 23:09I don't know if you're able to do that actually, maybe not, but
- 23:12think that he could have come back earlier.
- 23:14They just don't really want to play.
- 23:15Anyways, on the topic of the Habs, Sam Montalvo and Jacob
- 23:19Dobesh, who is the starter feel we've been getting this question
- 23:22all year. And as Habs fans, you know,
- 23:24people expect us to know. And I feel like we've been
- 23:27pretty consistent actually with our answer where every time, I
- 23:30mean, at least for me, I've always said it's going to be
- 23:32mountable, you know, and there's been Dobish periods, there's
- 23:35been Fowler periods, there's been, you know, some mountable
- 23:38periods. But at the end of the day, going
- 23:41into the playoffs, like who's going to be there?
- 23:44I mean, first of all, it's gonna be the guy who performs the
- 23:46best, but who's gonna be given the most opportunities.
- 23:48It's going to be Montalbo. And I think going into the
- 23:52coming out of the Olympic break, I think he's going to be the
- 23:55starter until he proves otherwise.
- 23:59So I have very little confidence in saying this, but I actually
- 24:03think it's going to be Dobesh. There's a lot of there's a lot
- 24:07of and like, I am like, this is not a hill I wanna fight for, as
- 24:12some say, really like to me, I just kind of look at this and
- 24:18there is a decent amount of hype over the fact that Dublish is
- 24:22doing this as essentially a rookie in the league.
- 24:26Then that's pretty cool. And he he's winning a lot of
- 24:30games. Like his percentages aren't
- 24:32great or anything like that. So for fantasy, we kind of gloss
- 24:34over it and we're like, hey, but he is the goalie who I'm pretty
- 24:38sure has the best winning percentage on the Habs this
- 24:40year. And that says something for a
- 24:41team that, you know, it's not like we're like a lock by any
- 24:45means. We're we're trying to push for
- 24:46the Atlantic is super scary. So I think that I think it
- 24:51Dobesh may actually like, I think it's gonna start out as a
- 24:54tandem and say who start who plays better.
- 24:56But I think that the hubs are one of these teams that actually
- 24:59does want to lock in on A1 goalie situation going into the
- 25:01playoffs as opposed to a Buffalo who may just actually write out
- 25:04the tab and the rest of the season.
- 25:06So to me, I predict it's going to be tandem for a week, maybe 2
- 25:10and then is going to be the one to take it.
- 25:12I could very easily see it being Montebello.
- 25:15So I really, it's very tough. I'm so conflicted because if we
- 25:20didn't get the Olympic break, it was like Dobesh's job and he ran
- 25:23away with it, right? And they were starting to get
- 25:25the stats out. Like look how many games he's
- 25:28won this season. Like whenever he plays, he wins.
- 25:31So why don't why are we letting him run with this opportunity
- 25:33instead of playing, you know, bringing up Jacob Fowler and
- 25:36giving Monty chance after chance after chance.
- 25:38Now The thing is, the last game multiplayer before the Olympic
- 25:42break, he dropped like a 970 Winnipeg and really killed it.
- 25:46And then we have the Olympic break that kind of like resets
- 25:49the stage and Monty is the guy that they want to be the
- 25:53starter. He has the pedigree, has a
- 25:54history of being the starter. If they could Force One guy to
- 25:57be the starter would be Monty. But all the performances are in
- 26:00dubious favor. So I'm with Jake.
- 26:01Honestly, I feel like it's a really mixed, mixed situation.
- 26:05I actually just picked up Monty in one league.
- 26:07When I had the opportunity to pick up, it was him or like UPL
- 26:10and I took with Monty because I feel like he has the opportunity
- 26:13to just run away with the clear starter.
- 26:16But I'm not confident in it at all.
- 26:19Although I do think that with the reset they'll give him the
- 26:22chance and whether he takes it, that's up to him.
- 26:26Yeah, so I'm not confident in it at all.
- 26:28I was just saying that I think like, like I think that's why
- 26:31it's been such a like big topic of conversation, right, Is that
- 26:33there's just no clear easy answer.
- 26:36Um, I still, I still do lean Monty though, but like all the
- 26:39performance, says Dobish. Listen on the season, multiple
- 26:44is 10/8 and two. Dobesh is 18, five and four.
- 26:47It's crazy, right? That's ridiculous.
- 26:50And a better save percentage like, you know, like to to to
- 26:55me, the the choice is kind of obvious here, but I agree that
- 27:00they're gonna want to default to Montalbo.
- 27:02But I still think that it's just gonna be clearly Dobish's job
- 27:06because he's been better and I think he will continue to be.
- 27:11Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised either way, honestly.
- 27:13Yeah. I hope it's Monty.
- 27:16You do. I just think whoever exposure,
- 27:20yeah, but as a Habs fan, I want it to be mounted because I feel
- 27:23like that he has the higher ceiling.
- 27:25But I'm happy rolling with whatever comes the results.
- 27:28Yeah, exactly. And I think so.
- 27:30So is the management. So really, at the end of the
- 27:32day, it's up to them. Whichever, whichever.
- 27:34Imagine we treat for Bennington. I'd be devastated.
- 27:37That'd be awful. Now, we're not.
- 27:39We're not as dumb as Edmonton. Exactly.
- 27:41Yeah. All right, let's get into some
- 27:44questions. So Paul on Discord asked, what
- 27:47are your thoughts on the Department of Player Safety?
- 27:49Why are some terrible hits allowed, and why are the
- 27:51punishments so inconsistent? I mean.
- 27:57If we could, if we could answer this question properly, I think
- 28:00we'd have better jobs than we do.
- 28:01But. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:04Honestly, to me, yeah. No, I was gonna say like, like
- 28:08I, I, I, we obviously can't give like a, a specific like thorough
- 28:14answer here. But the way that I see it is
- 28:17that if I'm taking the, I guess the naive approach, if you will,
- 28:21and that like, there's no bias whatever is that there are like
- 28:25technically certain hits, which like may look way worse than
- 28:29they are. But it could simply be because
- 28:31the player who got hit was in like a position that like, let's
- 28:34say he was off balance already and then he got hit into the
- 28:36boards and it looked like a huge, you know, illegal hit, but
- 28:40it just was because the player was positioned badly.
- 28:43And maybe they look into it. But if you're a fan of the team,
- 28:46of the player who got hit into the boards horribly, obviously
- 28:49you're gonna be pissed at the end of the day.
- 28:51Like sometimes it's just like, you know, it's not the player's
- 28:55intent to injure. It just so happens to be that
- 28:57the other guy was like off balance and fell or something
- 29:00like that. And it looks really bad.
- 29:02Then there's the if I'm taking the skeptical approach, like
- 29:05certain players kind of get like a free reign for those things, I
- 29:08have no idea. I don't know why that would be
- 29:10the case. It's not really fair.
- 29:12But yeah. What do you guys think?
- 29:15I mean, I honestly, I don't think there's some big
- 29:18conspiracy out there. I know everyone online thinks
- 29:20that the Florida Panthers paid off 1st or like, I think like
- 29:24the Florida Panthers have like an owner, like a GM or something
- 29:27who's like related to someone who's like connected to the plan
- 29:30player safety. And they're like, I like, you
- 29:32know, and people online are like, oh, the Panthers never get
- 29:35penalized for whatever, you know, I don't know, I don't
- 29:37think there's a big, a big conspiracy going on.
- 29:39I think it's just inherently a very subjective job and
- 29:43subjective punishment. Like it's just the nature of the
- 29:47game where it's impossible for it to be like a pure objective
- 29:50because every hint is different to every situation is different.
- 29:52You can't have like as much as you have the rules, you know,
- 29:55like at the end of the day, it's objective.
- 29:56So I think that's why it happens where it's lopsided sometimes.
- 30:00They also always take into account like history of the
- 30:03aggressor, like whoever made the hit.
- 30:04And also they always take into account like, yeah, how bad the
- 30:08injury was. Like if the guys out for a month
- 30:10and somebody else's out for like a week and the same kind of hit
- 30:13exactly the same way they got us out for a month is probably
- 30:16going to get a more severe, you know, suspension or whatever.
- 30:22Yeah, the the the one that's like comes to mind kind of like
- 30:25when I was just saying how like, you know, like it's like not the
- 30:27players intent to injure it just like sort of happens at the
- 30:30other player was in a bad position that Chara hit on
- 30:32patcher ready like 15 years ago, remember something like that and
- 30:36he didn't get to spend it and you don't have.
- 30:39Entire the entire board system for every year because of that
- 30:43to the rounded corners. That was crazy.
- 30:47See, like, I, I mean, that looked horrible.
- 30:50But at the end of the day, like, yeah, it was, it was really
- 30:54scary actually. Yeah, it was not like, I mean, I
- 30:57don't know. I mean Chara was a pretty
- 30:59aggressive player, but you can see that it.
- 31:00Was a physical player, but he was still, I feel like he was a
- 31:03nice guy. No, it wasn't like his intent
- 31:05was trying. To kill him, yeah.
- 31:06Yeah, exactly. So it's like one of those is
- 31:09Hobbs found your outrage. How do you know your best player
- 31:12just gets destroyed on the ice? But at the other, on the other
- 31:16hand, it's like, OK, well, you know, it was some horrible
- 31:19position there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:22I don't know. Alright, Tyler Moore on
- 31:25undiscovered hidden along that was one that's yeah, yeah, I
- 31:28mean I think about it when I think when I see like the
- 31:30rounded boards because it's literally why they changed it.
- 31:31So it's but yeah, no crazy. OK, Tyler Moore on Discord asked
- 31:35what are your guys actual jobs? That's ourselves.
- 31:40Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 31:43What do you guys do? I would love to know.
- 31:47Keeping your vague enough, I do work at a consulting company I
- 31:51just a lot of projects that have to do with like analytics and
- 31:54stuff like that. So trying to bring in my fantasy
- 31:58hockey relevant experience to my actual day job.
- 32:01Josh, you go. How to be vague about my job
- 32:06title? Yeah.
- 32:07No, I have a funny answer. Or you go.
- 32:09First, OK, yeah, I know. I, I just, I work in, in
- 32:13strategy for awhile, which, you know, checks out with the, with
- 32:16the fantasy stuff, big, big Excel guy.
- 32:19And that's why I have all these these fun Excel models for, for
- 32:22fantasy as well. So it kind of is like a cycle.
- 32:25I'll like learn some new Excel trick at work and then I'll
- 32:27bring it into my fantasy Excel and then like I'll learn
- 32:30something new there and bring it into work and it all ties in
- 32:32together. It's fun.
- 32:34Both my answer please. Do you guys know that from?
- 32:42Yeah, I'm your mother. Yeah, in the last season it's
- 32:45like an acronym for like him. Yeah, provide legal exculpation
- 32:50and sign everything. Essentially he's.
- 32:53Escape plot within the show like.
- 32:55Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, that was brilliant.
- 32:58Yeah, that was actually brilliant.
- 32:59So that's not actually what I do, but to be way less vague, I
- 33:03work in finance. All right.
- 33:04Next question. Because you could get.
- 33:08Yeah. I just labeled yourself as a
- 33:09classic finance bro. Now we get.
- 33:11To seriously. That's yeah, that's me.
- 33:14You're one of the backwards hat. Nobody in finance where's hats?
- 33:20They're all 65 and blue blue eyes and wear suits and go to
- 33:24Cathcart. That's actually spot on.
- 33:32OK, let's move on. China on Discord asked how do
- 33:35you guys go about discussing trades you're trying to do?
- 33:38How do you sell it to whoever you're trying to trade with?
- 33:40I love this question because I feel like this is like, it's not
- 33:43just about the trade you send, it's about talking to the person
- 33:47and you know, like framing it the right way.
- 33:49So I mean the way. It's all about the trade you
- 33:52send. It's about the friends you lost
- 33:54along the way. That is absolutely true.
- 34:01And you know for. This trade, the best trade is a
- 34:04trade where you win, but the other person's not upset about
- 34:07it. So then you can trade with them
- 34:08again. So in future years or in that
- 34:11season. So yeah, that's that is the way
- 34:14I see it. I don't wanna like completely
- 34:15RIP someone off and then they never want to trade with me
- 34:17again because you got to think long term.
- 34:19But in terms of like how you can talk to them with the trade,
- 34:20like I like to explain first of all, why it makes sense for
- 34:23their team. You know, I like to look at what
- 34:25a team might the person I'm trading with needs, right?
- 34:27If it's a specific position, if it's a specific category.
- 34:30So that's how I start my hypothesis.
- 34:32OK, look at teams who have a need of something that I have a
- 34:34surplus of. So then I explain it to them why
- 34:37it would make sense on their end.
- 34:38But then I also think it's important to explain why it
- 34:40makes sense on my end. Because if I don't explain why
- 34:42I'm doing the trade, then they just think, oh, you're trying to
- 34:44please me in some way with some information.
- 34:46I don't know. So if I explain it being like I
- 34:48have too many centres, that's why.
- 34:50And I would like a left wing. So that's why I'm doing this
- 34:52positional switch or I have too many goals, I need more assists,
- 34:55you know, like stuff like that. Like if you could come up with a
- 34:58reason in your head, you can be like, I'm actually buying low
- 35:00and selling high at that part. You don't say out loud, you
- 35:01know, but but if you come up with like the general reason,
- 35:04which makes sense and is, you know, partially slash fully
- 35:06true, um, then I find that's a great way of like framing the
- 35:10trade and people aren't as suspicious of you.
- 35:14Yeah, I I kind of it it doesn't always work out this way.
- 35:19So let let let me let me give a good little profaci there.
- 35:22I like looking at my opponents team and seeing what he kind of
- 35:28wants. My opponents team would want to
- 35:31necessarily. Get out of the trainer, McDavid.
- 35:35No, but like, for instance, like Josh had McDavid and I knew that
- 35:39like for him to have the stack of dry saddle McDavid, that
- 35:42would make a lot more sense. And at the time, I wasn't
- 35:44competitive in faceoffs like cultural back.
- 35:47And then we did another bad trade for me, but that's neither
- 35:51here nor there like another one. And it doesn't even necessarily
- 35:55mean that like I'm winning or losing, but just by that.
- 35:59But let's say for instance, like, you know, I just offered
- 36:02like another trade where the guy I traded to, I know he has like
- 36:05a few leaves on his team and he could, it was a fair trade,
- 36:09honestly, maybe even in his favor.
- 36:10But I got back a bit of a better playoff schedule.
- 36:13So like I, I kind of see it like as an incremental win.
- 36:16It's never a slam dunk. You don't wanna feel like you're
- 36:18being the person off. The person doesn't want to feel
- 36:19like he's being ripped off, but he wants to look at his team and
- 36:22be like, if I have this team after like that could be really
- 36:24good, but you kind of know you're winning a little bit
- 36:28anyways. Yeah, I, I hear what you're
- 36:31saying. Um, but I mean the, the question
- 36:36was how do you discuss trades? Um, and my trade discussion, I
- 36:43would say like motto is always I want to, I want to, I want to
- 36:50make it a fair trade. Obviously, I'm, I'm way less
- 36:53than the fleece department. Josh is always in the Police
- 36:56Department. I think what?
- 36:57Are you talking about? Do you guys you guys tend to to
- 37:01try to not try to fleece but like I think it's.
- 37:03What you say Phosphor? Yeah, seriously.
- 37:07You know what I will say though, I just like for this before you
- 37:10go on, Kevin, like a good thing. Actually, it's like I kind of
- 37:14know the most people in the league.
- 37:16So that's like one thing that like big starting point is is
- 37:19you guys like asking me like what are their numbers and then
- 37:23me going to. Them.
- 37:24OK. Just so you know, there could be
- 37:26a lot of there could be a lot of texting coming just so you know,
- 37:30I don't know, like watching or offering and then I and then I
- 37:33connect you guys and I'll just know like not now whatever.
- 37:38We moved, we moved the league over to like kind of everyone
- 37:41has each other's contact, which is good.
- 37:43But at the end of the day, the point is that like it's good to
- 37:45actually know the person on a personal level.
- 37:48That's one thing that I guess I didn't factor into like my
- 37:50original answer and you don't have to, but like enough that
- 37:54it's not just like in the Yahoo chat like yo, you like McDavid
- 37:58question mark, like, you know, like like actually like know the
- 38:02person to actually like develop something.
- 38:03It works so. Yeah, I mean, that's a good
- 38:06point too, right? Like a lot of people just don't
- 38:08have the ability to actually message other person, just like
- 38:10sending offers back and forth. Sometimes you read a little
- 38:12message in the Yahoo Yahoo chat box attached to trade and you're
- 38:16like, hey, send me a calendar or whatever.
- 38:17But in general, like when I'm trading with somebody, first of
- 38:21all, like Josh said, you always want to kind of be fulfilling a
- 38:24need on both ends, right? It's just, you know, this person
- 38:27needs this. I have a surplus of this.
- 38:29First, you find trade partners that are complementary, right?
- 38:33You can't always trade with every team.
- 38:34Josh and I've been trying to trade together for feels like,
- 38:37you know, since Week 1. I've been trying to trade with
- 38:39you. You haven't been trying to
- 38:41trade. With me, I'm open to it.
- 38:42I just don't think our teams are compatible.
- 38:43I think we're both trying to do the same type of trade, so we're
- 38:45not gonna work. We're trying to do it to each
- 38:47other. I just wanna give a worse player
- 38:48and get a better player. Listen, I also want to do that.
- 38:54You're so difficult. Yeah, but the point is you're
- 38:56offering me your guys are literally tried to cut so.
- 38:59I was trying to break up the band with this question.
- 39:01I'm just. Saying.
- 39:03But I also like painting a certain narrative for certain
- 39:06players, like if I'm trying to buy low on a certain guy, if you
- 39:10can frame a narrative that's like not necessarily tied to the
- 39:13biology, but separately, it can kind of like not mask what
- 39:17you're trying to do. But like, I wanted to buy Jack
- 39:21Hughes for a long time and I was like, listen, I know Hughes is a
- 39:24great player, but I really want the brat and Hughes stack.
- 39:26I'm already invested in Brad and he sucks.
- 39:28Like I'm just trying to go all in here, you know?
- 39:31And then being like, I'm still offering a good value.
- 39:33I was giving like Panera and plus at the time, which was like
- 39:35more value than probably most people would have been willing
- 39:37to give, but kind of just trying to frame the conversation in a
- 39:41certain way that maybe isn't directly tied to the players
- 39:43like up and down. I also like overpaying for
- 39:46trades all the time to be honest.
- 39:47And you guys might not think that they're overpays, but like
- 39:51I do. One of those miles I'm very
- 39:53happy to. Do low stakes overpays where I'm
- 39:56like this is probably an L for me, but I'm confident in my
- 39:59ability to find replacement value on waivers so I'm happy to
- 40:03give more value here and maybe lose the.
- 40:05Trade quote UN quote but then like it still making my team
- 40:08better in the long term. Like when I traded for draft
- 40:10this year. I think I think on paper I lost
- 40:12that trade when we made. It no, that was a win on the.
- 40:15Spot it was it was definitely not a win on the spot.
- 40:17I was giving a guy that was first of all, better than Durham
- 40:19at the time with Paul Mary. Plus I was giving Vince Dunn,
- 40:22who was a power play 1 defenseman and then Dorothea was
- 40:26dog water for two months. So it was like OK, I was it was
- 40:29a big elf for awhile and now they're playing is good and Paul
- 40:32married Alfred the seasons early.
- 40:34OK, like it was maybe not. I believe you.
- 40:35Doubted us for only going for the fleece, yeah.
- 40:38That's crazy. So you always go for the fleece,
- 40:40but it's like I'm I'm I'm content with like an not as big
- 40:45of a win as you guys would be, let's say, if that makes sense.
- 40:49I I traded 4 zetterling Bossier. OK, yeah.
- 40:53And then he spent like the whole evening, tried to convince us
- 40:55how good Zeppelin is. So I don't know.
- 40:57I don't know. Anyway, anyway, the next
- 41:02question. I don't really go for the
- 41:03fleece, but if it's offered to me, I'll take it.
- 41:07All right. China don't have such a
- 41:12contentious question. Next time, please.
- 41:15I'm kidding. It was a great question.
- 41:16OK, let's go next one. No man discord asked.
- 41:19Have the Olympics changed your view on any players fallacy,
- 41:22fantasy outlook, rest of season? For example Slough going God
- 41:25Mode or certain players that got rest from not going to the
- 41:28Olympics? So honestly, Hughes and Hella
- 41:31Buck are two that we spoke about that I definitely kind of want
- 41:34to start off the answer with Slough.
- 41:37I was expecting a big finish from Slough anyways because
- 41:40that's kind of what he does like past few years to finish all of
- 41:43the season and after the Olympics I'm just we're
- 41:46confident. So he's a great, great one.
- 41:50And one more name we'll throw in there.
- 41:51I think Devorski could be kind of a low key really decent
- 41:55player to finish the season, but that's in deeper leagues so.
- 42:01I do area. I'll go ahead.
- 42:02No, go ahead. No.
- 42:04You go first. OK, alright.
- 42:08So go pony boy. So you hang up, OK?
- 42:13To, to, to echo what Jackie said, I think he, he mentioned
- 42:16the big names. I, I also think like we, we get
- 42:20into this bubble of like trying to overvalue what happened at
- 42:23the Olympics, but it's still a sample size of games that we
- 42:27need to take into account. Like this player was on the ice
- 42:29playing hockey with other NHL players pretty much, right.
- 42:31It was just kind of like mini All Star game, it feels like.
- 42:35I really think what opened my eyes a lot was the players that
- 42:40were more integral to their international team than their
- 42:44NHL team, let's say. So it really surprised me that
- 42:47Granlund was the captain for Finland.
- 42:49And to me that tells me like, OK, he's a guy that holds a lot
- 42:52of respect in the locker room, that maybe his pull for
- 42:56deployment is stronger than we anticipated because, you know,
- 42:59people look up to him like Sebastian all holds on that
- 43:01team. Ranson was on that team, and yet
- 43:03it was grand that was the captain of that team.
- 43:05So to me, that just kind of like makes me think, OK, granted,
- 43:08going back to Anaheim will have a bigger role than we anticipate
- 43:11because he commands a lot of respect.
- 43:13Um, so I think that was kind of something that really yeah, I
- 43:16think it really came into play and I think a lot of a lot of
- 43:20extrapolation can happen for goalies.
- 43:22Yeah. I think Akira Schmid didn't even
- 43:25he played backup to I I forget the guys name, but it was like
- 43:30begone something or something. It sounded like Italian almost,
- 43:34but I was like, if you can't even be the starter for Team
- 43:37Switzerland on. Genoni.
- 43:39Genoni, that's what it sounded. Right.
- 43:42Yeah. And if you can be the starter
- 43:45there, like, how was he supposed to come be with Aiden Hill back
- 43:47in Vegas? You know?
- 43:48So I'm like. OK, yeah, that's fair.
- 43:50I mean, for me, in terms of players that played the big
- 43:52name, maybe this wishful thinking, but Maclin, Celebri,
- 43:56look, I mean he was, he played I think.
- 43:58He missed so many shots though. He didn't miss a lot of shots in
- 44:01the finals, but now he he was playing with McDavid the entire
- 44:04time with McKinnon as well. For a lot of the time.
- 44:06He was constantly, you know, one of the top 2 most like time on
- 44:09ice forwards on Team Canada. And he made like the Olympic
- 44:13like All Star team. He was just phenomenal.
- 44:17I mean, he like was just unreal. And look, it's kind of hard to
- 44:20say he's going to do better than he that he was doing this entire
- 44:23season, but it makes me feel better about the fact that maybe
- 44:26he can maintain what he was doing the entire season because
- 44:29of how well he did at the Olympics.
- 44:31I think that he's just, you know, this whole season slashed
- 44:35this Olympics. It's really kind of like
- 44:36cementing him as a first round pick in fantasy next year.
- 44:40I would love to get him again next year.
- 44:42But I think I think you just have to follow the right spot.
- 44:44But yeah, I'm pretty hyped about celebrity rest of the season.
- 44:47And then for me, honestly, it's a lot of a lot of guys who got
- 44:49arrested and got to get healthy over the course of the Olympics.
- 44:52I think that's actually really, really big starts a huge one the
- 44:56the coach that he's gonna be taking face offs again coming
- 44:58out of the break, which essentially is saying he's
- 45:00finally healthy. Um, a random one again, this
- 45:03could be just wishful thinking because he doesn't have the
- 45:05deployment or anything, but Monahan was dealing with injury
- 45:07all season and I think that this break could have helped him get
- 45:12healthy. And last year he was over a
- 45:13point per game. This year he's at like point
- 45:15like under .5 points per game. So the fact that he's not power
- 45:18play one or line one makes it so that there's less chance of a
- 45:20bounce back. But if he's finally healthy,
- 45:23that could be a reason why why he was doing so poorly.
- 45:26So if there's guys like that who were like playing through injury
- 45:29and finally had a chance to get healthy, then I think there's a
- 45:32there's chances for some people to to have a nice bounce backs.
- 45:36And like all Russian players. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:40Like kind of like as a blanket statement, like I, I, I actually
- 45:43think Washington is gonna be really strong rest of the season
- 45:45just cause they've got Ovechkin kind of and sort of helm over
- 45:48there. Yeah.
- 45:49Yeah. Actually, and brothers that
- 45:53produce, Yeah, that's. It so where's produce from?
- 45:56Is he Russian? I don't know somewhere.
- 45:58Tall Alexis sounds produce what? What I met this I meant to say
- 46:05Alexis sounds Russian that I caught myself like literally
- 46:08either finished saying his last name.
- 46:09He sounds produce, yeah. That was brilliant.
- 46:15He's from Belarus, but. Almost Russian.
- 46:19It's. Yeah, almost.
- 46:21Alright, Blister Boy on Discord asked what's your view on Radish
- 46:25in a keepers league? Would you keep him over
- 46:28Romanoski or Seth Jones? I love this question because I
- 46:30think we've gotten to a point this season where we just kind
- 46:32of have to accept that Radish is the real deal for this year.
- 46:35But this question is like, is Radish the real deal?
- 46:37Like moving forward, we don't know if he's gonna be on Tampa
- 46:40next year, right? Like he's going to be a free
- 46:42agent because he's probably gonna get paid a decent amount.
- 46:45I mean, after a season like this, he can ask for a lot.
- 46:47Um, what team is gonna be willing to pay him?
- 46:49Was he, is he gonna be power play one wherever he goes?
- 46:51I think there's so many question marks with him that I don't
- 46:54think I wouldn't lean either way too extreme.
- 46:57First of all, I think there's no way he's ever going to replicate
- 46:59what he's doing this year. Not to be that like he can be,
- 47:02you know, good. But this is just unbelievable.
- 47:04But I also don't think he's gonna fade back to obscurity.
- 47:06Probably like I think if wherever he goes, they're gonna
- 47:09have to pay him. And if someone's willing to pay
- 47:10him, they probably given the deployment.
- 47:12Random thought just popped in my head.
- 47:14Maybe San Jose, they need a power play one quarterback.
- 47:16Like if he if he goes there and is playing power play one with
- 47:19like solid Rini, then maybe he could be close to what he did.
- 47:22No now OK, this is actually like insane what he's doing this
- 47:26year. So I would I don't think I would
- 47:29keep him over OC or Jones. I don't know what you guys think
- 47:31but. I wouldn't I've answered this
- 47:33question is too few times in the discord and to me it's just like
- 47:36if I have radish right now. I know you guys are listening to
- 47:39this probably after trade deadlines in most leagues, but
- 47:41I'm trying to keep release. I'm trying to ship them out with
- 47:44the keeper value attached to him being like, hey, look how good
- 47:47of a keeper you can have next season and get really good value
- 47:50back. Because first of all, I think
- 47:51he's going to get a bag. Like I think this is his golden
- 47:54year. Darren Radish never assumed he
- 47:56would get even closer to production he was doing this
- 47:58season. And now it's time for him to
- 47:59cash in. Like I think for his family and
- 48:00everything, like for his, you know, longevity, financial
- 48:03situation, like he's going to get a bag.
- 48:05And I don't think Tampa's gonna be the team that gives him the
- 48:07bag. So I think inherently he's going
- 48:09to a different situation that's going to be worse.
- 48:11He'll never be able to replicate what he's doing right now and he
- 48:14might be fantasy irrelevant next year.
- 48:16Like that's in the range of outcomes that are solids
- 48:19percent, solid percentage. I'm not saying I'm super hyped
- 48:21on Yoshi next season, but I think Seth Jones could be a good
- 48:24keeper in that situation and to me, I'm just trying to
- 48:26capitalize on selling him right now before we know what the next
- 48:30situation is. If he does stay in Tampa though,
- 48:32he decided he signs an extension there, then I'll actually have
- 48:35to seriously consider being like, you probably have
- 48:38tremendous keeper value with Reddish.
- 48:40If it's like a draft cost to draft around or whatever.
- 48:43If it's just like straight up no, no draft cost or just
- 48:46keeping guys I think it'll be a tough question, but if he stays
- 48:51on table is the only way I would actually consider him a keeper.
- 48:54I am taking the other side of the coin.
- 48:56I'm definitely actually going to keep radish.
- 48:59Yoshi has been a tremendous fantasy player and I just think
- 49:03that next year it's like really up in the air as to what's going
- 49:06to happen with him injury wise and everything.
- 49:09It's tough. So I really like that's too
- 49:13ambiguous. And Seth Jones, although he's an
- 49:14actual great NHL player and of course you're, you know, you're
- 49:17happy rostering Jones. Like Seth Jones I don't think
- 49:23has ever scored as many points in the season then Darren
- 49:26Raddysh will score this year. So to me it's like, it's
- 49:31honestly kind of like a clear answer.
- 49:33I know he's got more name value and everything, but I'm actually
- 49:36definitely keeping Radish here, even though I understand you
- 49:40could go to another team and still not be great.
- 49:42Like last year Seth Jones versus last year Darren Radish.
- 49:45Yes, you know, Jones kind of played.
- 49:48You could go to a team should be probably 1 quarterback there who
- 49:52like rather sure you could get signed somewhere not even be
- 49:55powerful one quarterback. No, 100% like, but I just think
- 49:58like I'm not in Jones and Yoshi just may not.
- 50:01Play, Yeah, But would you rather would you rather Seth Jones or
- 50:05power play to radish on Washington?
- 50:08I feel like if he gets the bag, it means that he's gonna.
- 50:11Get the power. He's not gonna get the bag like
- 50:13$8 million a year, but like he might get like, I don't know,
- 50:17four or five like enough. Enough to be like a solid like
- 50:21second pairing defensemen or like the second guy on the first
- 50:24pair. But you know, Tampa might just
- 50:28think that he fits their system and that's why they're able to
- 50:30leverage his talents and he's not going anywhere else.
- 50:32At the same time, with Barkov there, Jones may just not play
- 50:37Power Play 1. They could they always have a.
- 50:39Deal though, yeah, I think Bennett where?
- 50:42They bumped their brown five in the past.
- 50:45Yeah, but it didn't last. Anyway, to me anyways, I think
- 50:49that the ceiling with radish here just for the nature of
- 50:51fantasy. Either you win or you don't.
- 50:53Like I think radish can help you win more.
- 50:56So that's it. Like I get where you guys are
- 50:58coming from, but I'm gonna go with radish as the top.
- 51:01One Alright, well there you go. You got all the views.
- 51:03Yeah, all the difference, poster boy.
- 51:07Exactly. All right.
- 51:08Last one, I think this is a bit of a leading question.
- 51:11Ninja Bob Dog on Discord asked. How do you guys feel about three
- 51:14on three overtime and knockout Olympic Games?
- 51:19Through. American I mean, I, I think, I
- 51:23think everyone kind of agrees that it it kind of sucks.
- 51:26It's kind of just a coin flip, right?
- 51:28And it should have been five on five.
- 51:30Like I don't even know why they bothered saying go to 20 minute
- 51:32period of three on three. It was never gonna last more
- 51:34than 3 minutes, you know, realistically like.
- 51:37Yeah, I actually don't mind it in the preliminary rounds, but
- 51:40do the preliminary rounds are the season and then the medal
- 51:45rounds are the playoffs and just make that 515 or at least four
- 51:49on four with the shootout. That could be kind of spicy too,
- 51:53but three on three is not. Good.
- 51:54I honestly don't know what to think.
- 51:55It was the thought process was there like who was making this
- 51:57decision? Like did they actually think?
- 51:59I feel like the Olympics is is country versus country on an
- 52:02international level. I feel like it has to have the
- 52:04utmost competitive integrity. And I think three on three is
- 52:08like the opposite of that. Like not saying it's not
- 52:10competitive at all, but you're really adding the luck factor in
- 52:13there. And if you look at the NHL, the
- 52:15only reason why there's three on three is to satisfy the TV
- 52:19corporations that can run the NHL things for so long because
- 52:23they have programs after right like just.
- 52:25To avoid shootout. Yeah, and the Stanley Cup is 20
- 52:28minutes, five on five, and that's it.
- 52:30Nothing else. Like that's how you decide which
- 52:32team is better. I think we were robbed of like a
- 52:35excellent finish. Maybe the result would have been
- 52:37the same, but I still think it would have been better.
- 52:39Now we just get to watch like one team go out and miss and the
- 52:41other team get another break away or whatever.
- 52:43And I don't know, not fun. I would have said the same thing
- 52:47even if Canada won, by the way. I'm just putting that out there
- 52:49like I'm, yeah, non biased. Yeah, no, it definitely,
- 52:54definitely kind of a joke way to end it.
- 52:56And yeah, regardless of who would have won, like it just
- 52:58should not have been that. And then I agree with what
- 53:01Jackie said. Like, you know, you can view the
- 53:02prelims as like regular season. You can have three on three
- 53:05there because no one's getting eliminated in the prelims,
- 53:08right? So the stakes aren't as high.
- 53:10And it is fun to watch, right. But like, in terms of like
- 53:13actually deciding who's best, deciding medals, deciding like
- 53:15big games like that, like gold medal at Olympics, like a lot of
- 53:19players might value that like either equally or even higher
- 53:22than like Stanley Cup, you know, like it's that important.
- 53:24So. And you would never even imagine
- 53:26dream of having a three on three overtime in any even the first
- 53:29round of the Stanley Cup Final. So I have the, you know, the
- 53:32playoffs. So like, yeah, yeah.
- 53:33The equivalent is just. It's crazy.
- 53:35You know what could have been fun?
- 53:36Last thing that will wrap up. Imagine five on three on three
- 53:40for like 5 or 10 minutes. But not golden goal just like.
- 53:44That would be. Crazy.
- 53:45That's a way like if you actually want to run three on
- 53:47three, like imagine like US score like Canada has like 5
- 53:50more minutes to try and like get an equalizer or whatever.
- 53:52Yeah, I think that could be fun. That would be cool actually.
- 53:55But the golden goal, three on three is just, it just feels
- 53:58like 2 high stakes for no reason, yeah.
- 54:00Yeah. Yeah, that would have been a lot
- 54:03better, right? But yeah, I just.
- 54:05Take his idea from a few weeks ago.
- 54:06Yeah, we're excited, 505. Or is that idea that all would
- 54:12have been better? Too started dropping players and
- 54:15down to 1 view one just goalie versus goalie.
- 54:20It's like the Super Smash Bros a, you know, exactly fuck you
- 54:25overtime. That would be sick.
