- Thomas: the the people know what was ⁓ high rocks, how how been prepping for that? Preparation is key. Malcolm: Yeah, man. So I said I know I'm I'm sure people that listen to this, like, you know, Ron R. A. probably know what HyRox is. But like this is my first time doing any type of race or event, like like athletic event or anything like that competition. ⁓ but put something like HyRox like a ⁓ you can think of it as like a CrossFit hybrid athlete event for everyday gym goers. but it's not like a it's not as like I wouldn't put it in the same bucket as being like as challenging as like a a half marathon or like a ⁓ Iron Man, it's nothing like that. But it is definitely for like a for someone who doesn't really like like like it's something to like like train for just to get your mind right because it's like a it's a eight, I believe I won't say it's an eight kilometer run. So it's about it's about like right under like five miles total. But it's separated by like eight stations at, you know, between every one kilometer ⁓ interval. So if as an example, like you'll start the race, you'll run a kilometer, you'll do a station, right? And so the stations, they aren't super like crazy, but the whole point of the race is to like have like to to be s like have enough endurance to get through each station without getting fatigued and and and messing your time up. So there's like, you know, you're like I say you're running kilometer, you do something like a like a like a skier, which is like the exercise. You're like you're pulling down the the the ski ropes, like, you know, with a high resistance and you're doing that. You do that, boom. It's like and it's also separated. So it's like there's singles races and there's also doubles races. I'm doing a doubles race, ⁓ me and my line brother Jaden, we're we're going out like I say to DC, ⁓ competing with with a lot of other ⁓ you know, folks that we know and It's a bunch of other stations like a sled push, a sled pull, ⁓ you know, broad jumps, burpees, wall balls. So it's like these these stations that don't seem super, super hard, but it's like you gotta think about when we were running all these miles and you're trying to go like at at at competition day speed. ⁓ it is easy to get fatigued and to tie yourself out. So for me, it's been like this. I've really been training for like, I'd say like training seriously, probably for like two and a half, three months. ⁓ but it's just been it's been a lot of cardio, bro. It's been a lot of cardio, a lot of running. And ⁓ low key, like ⁓ like the progress I've seen with like my body and just my endurance and just like how I feel, like, you know, regarding like being fit and and and feeling like, you know, like energetic, bro. Like, I think I'm gonna probably have to like train, change my tra training regimen, bro. Cause like before all I was on, bro, I would just go to the gym, just lift weights. ⁓ I might hit an incline walk here and there, bro. But I think I might have to just start training like a hybrid athlete, bro. Like, like I used to hate running. I really didn't like it because like I mean it hurts. Like, I I don't like to run ⁓ I don't like to run for no reason, like but like Thomas: Yeah. Malcolm: To be like since I started training for high rocks, bro, like I was banging out nine minutes, eight thirty miles, ⁓ like for one, two miles. I I couldn't even finish a 5K without like stopping my my time for like five minutes trying to catch my breath. But now, because I've been running so consistently, bro, I think this summer alone, I have like over 200 miles like, you know, done on my striver. So it's like now I did a 5k yesterday. All my five K's now, like at like at my worst 5Ks, but like 730 minutes. Like now I'm doing like 715, seven minutes. right under seven minutes, ⁓ you know, twenty two, twenty one minute five Ks and like I've just built on that all summer. So, ⁓ you know, I'm gonna definitely try to try to keep it keep it going after after high rock scores 'cause I wanna just, you know, train up and and then get like fat after. ⁓ so probably gonna try to get into some some hybrid athlete training and then ⁓ probably pick up another another another hobby, you know, just to keep my time 'cause like going to the gym doing the same thing can get boring quick. So I'm trying to just, you know, keep keep myself excited. ⁓ But yeah, man, that's a little bit about Hy Rocks and and you know what we got going on. Thomas: ⁓ that's fair.
