- 18:42Speaker 4: Love just thinking about it, doing the song. It's just
- 18:47Speaker 4: I don't know how much better than this combination of
- 18:50Speaker 4: artists you can do. From a cultural perspective. Steel Bangles
- 18:54Speaker 4: maybe one of our best crossover kind of producers, very
- 18:59Speaker 4: musically driven like this song needed. Then you have the
- 19:02Speaker 4: vocal magic of a Cid Tree run and has done
- 19:06Speaker 4: an amazing job of making his music more accessible to
- 19:10Speaker 4: a wider audience. And then you have nas who's a legend.
- 19:13Speaker 4: It's a great one. This song is by an artist named.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Ruth Savoalo.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Rodigurdy Jujobosi, Joe Guy Nazi job Jah job Naso Guyazoo.
- 19:52Speaker 12: Lady, what did another.
- 20:03Speaker 23: Day?

- 21:02Speaker 12: Caz.
- 21:44Speaker 4: It's from the Royal soundtrack. The show is on Netflix.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I think we're gonna see a lot more of the
- 21:50Speaker 4: soundtrack music business integration, because this song has clearly indicated
- 21:57Speaker 4: I'm gonna see a lot of it from Netflix now
- 22:00Speaker 4: that they venture the music industry. Here's got a agela
- 22:03Speaker 4: and he's singing for a reason.

- 24:51Speaker 4: bring in on to the show here, make sure you
- 24:55Speaker 4: get ready for that. I'm really looking forward to talking
- 24:57Speaker 4: to her about her song with Younger. It's called young Hearts.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Stand by for that. Right after the song will bring
- 25:06Speaker 4: Kattan into the show, talk to her about it. This

- 27:46Speaker 21: Jimmy Da.
- 28:07Speaker 4: You're enjoining her Thursday out there? Man, this is really exciting. Okay,
- 28:10Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you guys a quick story before
- 28:12Speaker 4: I bring on this lovely lady. I came across this
- 28:16Speaker 4: song through my wife, and as you guys know, a
- 28:18Speaker 4: lot of discovery happens through friends and family. My wife
- 28:21Speaker 4: sends me this song, Sis, Sammy, you need to play
- 28:24Speaker 4: this on the show. Listen this happens quite a bit.
- 28:27Speaker 4: And of course I listened to the track and about
- 28:29Speaker 4: twenty thirty seconds into this, I'm like, oh my god,
- 28:32Speaker 4: how do we get this lady on this phone? This
- 28:34Speaker 4: is an amazing track.
- 28:36Speaker 27: What do we do?
- 28:37Speaker 4: And here we are just about a week or two
- 28:40Speaker 4: later and we have got done on the phone with
- 28:43Speaker 4: us right now to do this interview and talk about
- 28:47Speaker 4: our collaboration with Younger. What a song, my dear, thank
- 28:51Speaker 4: you very much for joining us here on a Thursday morning.
- 28:54Speaker 28: Thank you, thank you for having me.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Got done right? Tatan tell us the meaning of that.
- 29:03Speaker 29: So katan means something wild and untamable in summer. Yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 29: it's it's an eggs, you know, when like a kid
- 29:11Speaker 29: is not listening and they're just really frustrated, so they're
- 29:15Speaker 29: like the cartown got it. So so yeah, So my
- 29:20Speaker 29: grandmom used to really reserve that endearment for me, and
- 29:24Speaker 29: I used to think it was, you know, it was
- 29:27Speaker 29: not something to be proud of.
- 29:28Speaker 28: But then as I grew up, I realized how indoctrinated
- 29:32Speaker 28: women can get, and.
- 29:35Speaker 29: You know, to be rebellious is actually to be free,
- 29:38Speaker 29: So I now wear it as a badge of honor.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Okay, So with that in mind, this is a great
- 29:44Speaker 4: way for me to introduce your work and who you
- 29:45Speaker 4: are as an artist, right You you derive from your
- 29:48Speaker 4: tumbil roots, but you're an artist that's very versatile. You've
- 29:52Speaker 4: been singing in different capacities, both in your individual sense
- 29:56Speaker 4: part of a band, but you have a story past
- 29:58Speaker 4: there as a vocalist, and now here you have this
- 30:02Speaker 4: artist that's out there named Younger, who is putting out
- 30:05Speaker 4: these improvisational videos of him making beats on the spot
- 30:09Speaker 4: that are just awesome. By the way, go follow him.
- 30:11Speaker 4: It's you n g R and please take the story
- 30:15Speaker 4: from there. How did you come up with this beautiful
- 30:18Speaker 4: song with him? And if you don't mind, explain how
- 30:22Speaker 4: these two worlds collided.
- 30:25Speaker 29: It's a great story. Actually, So I in twenty seventeen,
- 30:30Speaker 29: I just on a whim, decided to go to a
- 30:33Speaker 29: gig in Bombay in Juhu, and turns out Younger is
- 30:38Speaker 29: saying this, And while I was watching the gig.
- 30:42Speaker 28: I was like fascinated by him.
- 30:44Speaker 29: It's this guy, he's so insane, he's amazing. And I
- 30:48Speaker 29: was really shy to talk to him. And my brother
- 30:50Speaker 29: was standing next to me, and you know, Younger is
- 30:53Speaker 29: usually swarmed with people with like fans. As I was
- 30:57Speaker 29: studying in the corner feeling very awkward, my brother's like,
- 31:00Speaker 29: you are a top to him.
- 31:01Speaker 28: Let's go, and so he shoves everyone aside and he's like,
- 31:06Speaker 28: this is my younger sister. She's a musician. She likes
- 31:08Speaker 28: to talk to you.
- 31:09Speaker 29: And he being so warm and he's I mean, Younger
- 31:13Speaker 29: is like the warmest person you'll ever meet.
- 31:16Speaker 28: He's like, oh, man, I love that.
- 31:18Speaker 29: You're a singer. You sing jazz, Okay, you sing folks,
- 31:20Speaker 29: send me your stuff. And in my mind I'm thinking,
- 31:23Speaker 29: you know, this is just another thing that people say
- 31:25Speaker 29: to be nice after the show. And I sent him
- 31:29Speaker 29: an email and I got an immediate supply and he's like,
- 31:32Speaker 29: send me your music. Yeah, and then I, as you know,
- 31:35Speaker 29: time progressed. I sent him more and more music and
- 31:38Speaker 29: he just kept, like, you know, being very appreciative of it.
- 31:41Speaker 29: And he was like, okay, I need to have you
- 31:42Speaker 29: on a track. And then he keeps sending me instrumentals
- 31:45Speaker 29: and at one point COVID hit And just before I
- 31:51Speaker 29: think that time, he had gone to his dad's place.
- 31:56Speaker 29: And his dad's also a very famous musician, and his
- 31:59Speaker 29: dad has a list of one hundred movies that must
- 32:01Speaker 29: be watched before you die.
- 32:03Speaker 28: And Lagan was number seventeen. So he watched Lagan. He
- 32:10Speaker 28: dove deep into a Raman's world his.
- 32:12Speaker 29: Music, and he came up with this sick instrumental and
- 32:16Speaker 29: then yeah, and then he sent it to me and
- 32:19Speaker 29: this was COVID, and I was very frustrated. So you
- 32:22Speaker 29: can hear all the howls and the.
- 32:24Speaker 28: Streaming in the track.
- 32:27Speaker 29: Yeah, So I recorded it at home pretty much, and yeah,
- 32:32Speaker 29: and then you know, then it took us a couple
- 32:34Speaker 29: of years to really understand what we made. And then
- 32:37Speaker 29: last year on the fly, he just texted me and
- 32:40Speaker 29: emailed me rather and he was just like, hey, you
- 32:42Speaker 29: know what I did something with the thing you sent
- 32:44Speaker 29: me many years ago. Yeah, And I was like, oh shit,
- 32:47Speaker 29: let's see what it sounds like. And it was insane.
- 32:50Speaker 4: It's insane.
- 32:51Speaker 28: So yeah, so here we are. It's a trip. You
- 32:55Speaker 28: know that song?
- 32:57Speaker 4: So you know, for me, I feel like you guys
- 32:59Speaker 4: have hit a home run when it comes to a formula.
- 33:01Speaker 4: You have your deeply rooted vocals that are drenched in identity,
- 33:08Speaker 4: and then you have his very global production that's very
- 33:10Speaker 4: easy on the ears. They're very congenial. He's so good
- 33:13Speaker 4: at that, you know. It's just what he does is
- 33:16Speaker 4: he gives you stuff that's very easy to like. It's
- 33:18Speaker 4: in his production all the time, and he covers the
- 33:22Speaker 4: spaces very well. And I feel like the two of
- 33:24Speaker 4: you guys have really created something magical here. Are there
- 33:27Speaker 4: plans for you guys to keep doing this over and
- 33:29Speaker 4: over again? Or was that it?
- 33:31Speaker 14: Or what you know?
- 33:32Speaker 4: Explain I guess before we go any further, is there
- 33:35Speaker 4: going to be more of this?
- 33:37Speaker 21: Oh?
- 33:38Speaker 29: Yeah, I mean that's the plan. I mean, he has
- 33:40Speaker 29: obviously a very busy schedule which is lined up with
- 33:43Speaker 29: a lot of things, and I also have my music
- 33:46Speaker 29: coming out, which is I mean, all of it is
- 33:49Speaker 29: my music, whiause we all made it together. But the
- 33:54Speaker 29: following three songs after this release are something I've worked
- 33:57Speaker 29: on as an easy by myself, and so I think
- 34:02Speaker 29: we're going to do something soon, but it just needs
- 34:04Speaker 29: to align in the best way possible.
- 34:07Speaker 4: So, you know, I wanted to touch on a few
- 34:10Speaker 4: things about your work coming up here. First of all,
- 34:14Speaker 4: over the next couple of nights, you're going to be
- 34:16Speaker 4: in Europe. Tomorrow night you'll be in Amsterdam, and the
- 34:18Speaker 4: following night on Saturday, you will be in Barcelona, and
- 34:22Speaker 4: then you have, as you said, these singles coming out.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Tell us about first of all, these first two shows
- 34:27Speaker 4: coming up, what could people expect here in Europe from you?
- 34:31Speaker 28: So I think the idea is to give people a
- 34:34Speaker 28: sense of what Young Hearts feels like live.
- 34:38Speaker 29: Because when you even see younger perform Young Hats when
- 34:44Speaker 29: I'm not present, there is such a live element to
- 34:47Speaker 29: what he does with it, like he's playing, he's banging
- 34:49Speaker 29: on the congas, and you know, there is like a
- 34:52Speaker 29: very visceral feeling that you get from the song. So
- 34:56Speaker 29: it is a song that needs to be experienced live
- 34:58Speaker 29: for you to understand the you know, the length and
- 35:02Speaker 29: breath of the madness in it. And I think that's
- 35:06Speaker 29: what I want to bring even on the stage performance.
- 35:09Speaker 29: Even to the stage performance.
- 35:11Speaker 28: So yeah, that's what people can expect. Yeah, to go
- 35:15Speaker 28: a little crazy, you know, that window is for you
- 35:17Speaker 28: to go now.
- 35:18Speaker 4: I love that the music video. I was really connected
- 35:24Speaker 4: to the song further by the music video. Sometimes the
- 35:27Speaker 4: music video doesn't connect you to the song, it's just
- 35:31Speaker 4: aesthetically there, it doesn't make that bridge on an emotional level.
- 35:37Speaker 4: This music video clearly did, and it's one that seems
- 35:41Speaker 4: very personal in a sense that you're in this very
- 35:43Speaker 4: public space and you have these moments of vulnerability through it,
- 35:47Speaker 4: through within, against this backdrop of motion and almost like
- 35:51Speaker 4: this emotional juxtaposition. You have this music that's there, but
- 35:54Speaker 4: then you have this visual of you taking something very internal.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Do you mind sharing that.
- 35:59Speaker 28: Yeah, of course I'd love to.
- 36:02Speaker 29: I think when I write songs, there is always a narrative,
- 36:06Speaker 29: so it's never a bunch of lyrics. There is a
- 36:09Speaker 29: story in my head and oftentimes you know the visual
- 36:14Speaker 29: for it and the lyrics, you know, they go together, right,
- 36:19Speaker 29: So for this one especially, I.
- 36:23Speaker 28: Knew what I was channeling when I was writing the lyrics.
- 36:26Speaker 29: I was, you know, a as a Tamilian, but I
- 36:29Speaker 29: was born and brought up in Delhi, and you know,
- 36:32Speaker 29: when I was growing up in Delhi, I always felt
- 36:34Speaker 29: the sense of other nets because you know, your skin color,
- 36:38Speaker 29: the way your hair looks. You're trying to, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 29: understand the ways of a different culture, so to speak,
- 36:45Speaker 29: in a lot of ways, because India are so varied, right,
- 36:49Speaker 29: And I remember feeling very sad that any boy I.
- 36:53Speaker 28: Liked would not like me back.
- 36:55Speaker 29: So this was my experience growing up, and I channeled
- 36:58Speaker 29: that into this track because Younger had a placeholder for it.
- 37:02Speaker 28: He wanted to call it young Hearts, or at least
- 37:05Speaker 28: that was at tenderive title.
- 37:07Speaker 29: And you know when I heard that, it suddenly brought
- 37:09Speaker 29: this sort of experience into my head of you know,
- 37:13Speaker 29: feeling alone, feeling left out, feeling you know, desire, feeling yearning.
- 37:17Speaker 29: And I felt like an Indian fair most encapsulates Indian childhood, right,
- 37:25Speaker 29: especially the times that the time that I have grown up.
- 37:30Speaker 4: And so that was the visual for me, the fair and.
- 37:33Speaker 29: Then the internal sort of convolution, like of someone battling.
- 37:38Speaker 28: With feeling all of these feelings in the same breath.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Yeah. First of all, thank you very much for joining
- 37:46Speaker 4: us today. This has been an absolute tree for us
- 37:48Speaker 4: and for us to pull you in on a Thursday
- 37:49Speaker 4: morning like this. Thank you so much for making time
- 37:52Speaker 4: for us. Now, before we let you go, we want
- 37:54Speaker 4: you to please give us a favor and introduce your
- 37:57Speaker 4: big song here with Younger if you don't.
- 37:59Speaker 29: Mind, right, So, everybody at Ruckus Avenue Radio. Young Hearts
- 38:05Speaker 29: is my track with English producer Younger, and it's out everywhere.
- 38:10Speaker 28: On YouTube, on Spotify.
- 38:12Speaker 29: And you know it's it's something we have made with
- 38:16Speaker 29: a lot of heart and soul, with absolutely no agenda
- 38:19Speaker 29: of you know, of any commercial expectations of it.
- 38:24Speaker 28: It's something that is so pure and I really would
- 38:28Speaker 28: like for you to go check it out and perhaps.
- 38:31Speaker 29: Write to me and tell me what you feel once
- 38:33Speaker 29: you hear it or once you watch the video and yeah,
- 38:36Speaker 29: and we'll go from there.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Thank you so much for joining us today. Here's the track,
- 38:41Speaker 4: Everybody One Way Way, We.
- 38:49Speaker 2: The same lou guy didn't know.
- 39:00Speaker 8: The colors were defend for us?
- 39:14Speaker 2: Did they say in tone? And I cant one to
- 39:36Speaker 2: my son, wait, say.
- 40:24Speaker 12: One way way up? Are they cli?
- 40:39Speaker 2: I don't know that. I may follow you till the
- 40:47Speaker 2: end of time.
- 40:56Speaker 12: That tame it to no, I can't find.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Wait how.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I love that song right there, And of course I
- 42:17Speaker 4: wanted to give a big shout out to Gatan for
- 42:19Speaker 4: the interview and what a wonderful song. Young hearts, great
- 42:23Speaker 4: conversation and talking about great conversations, let's bringing our brother
- 42:27Speaker 4: Sonny to the show. How are you, Sonny?
- 42:30Speaker 30: I'm doing so well. How are you keeping you good?
- 42:32Speaker 4: We're good man. I First of all, you know, we're
- 42:36Speaker 4: in this time now with family around all the time.
- 42:41Speaker 4: You've got summer coming up and spring and you're seeing
- 42:45Speaker 4: you know how you know, the family unit succeeds, and
- 42:49Speaker 4: you can't do it without a great sibling, you know,
- 42:52Speaker 4: love and to honor that relationship. Of course, Sunny, they
- 42:56Speaker 4: have Siblings Day and you know, let's talk about this.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Are you the favorite in your family, Sunny or who's
- 43:04Speaker 4: what does that favorite kind of get, you know, in
- 43:06Speaker 4: the treatment of you know, being the big sibling in
- 43:09Speaker 4: the family.
- 43:10Speaker 30: Dude, listen, I am the favorite, full stop. Once you
- 43:14Speaker 30: meet me, I am the sunshine in your life. It's
- 43:16Speaker 30: in my name, Sonny, right. And so as a result,
- 43:20Speaker 30: there's a lot of people who were jealous of me
- 43:22Speaker 30: because I was the first. In our culture, being a
- 43:25Speaker 30: boy is quite a big deal. And then if you're
- 43:28Speaker 30: the first born of the firstborn, you know and uh,
- 43:33Speaker 30: and you haven't they haven't done that in generations. You've
- 43:36Speaker 30: become the golden child. And I had this on me
- 43:38Speaker 30: for a long time, and a lot of my aunties,
- 43:41Speaker 30: got my uncles, a lot of my what's it called
- 43:46Speaker 30: siblings and my cousins, they all realize, Sonny, he's the oldest.
- 43:50Speaker 30: He's you know, he's a he's like this, right, And
- 43:54Speaker 30: obviously I'm just me. I have this sort of thing
- 43:57Speaker 30: put upon me when I was younger. But at the
- 43:59Speaker 30: same time, if any of my any of my brothers
- 44:03Speaker 30: or sister's call on me, regardless of our relationship, I
- 44:07Speaker 30: have to turn up just because of my title as
- 44:09Speaker 30: being the oldest. Right. So it's a role I take
- 44:13Speaker 30: very seriously. But I don't have to do. The friends.
- 44:15Speaker 30: I don't have to I don't have to see them
- 44:17Speaker 30: every day. I don't even have to like them, but
- 44:20Speaker 30: it's the cool on me just because I am their
- 44:23Speaker 30: older brother. I have to turn up and I have
- 44:26Speaker 30: to turn up with their kids. I have to turn
- 44:28Speaker 30: up for their wife. So I'm that guy.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:31Speaker 30: So you we go family function and I bump into
- 44:37Speaker 30: my cousin who doesn't like me. I don't like him whatever,
- 44:39Speaker 30: But if he was if he got into prison and
- 44:42Speaker 30: he needed someone to get him out first, I'm there.
- 44:46Speaker 30: And if someone was threatening his family and they were
- 44:48Speaker 30: outside the house, I'll be there. I don't don't touch
- 44:52Speaker 30: my family brother because he's got an older brother. I
- 44:55Speaker 30: can't do that to him. But you can't do that
- 44:57Speaker 30: to him, you know what I mean. So I guess
- 44:58Speaker 30: I'm that guy. So I'm that guy. But at the
- 45:01Speaker 30: same time, we we we are running out of you know,
- 45:06Speaker 30: uh way, so corporate have run out of ways to
- 45:09Speaker 30: take money out of us. We've got Father's Day, We've
- 45:12Speaker 30: got Mother's Day, We've got mother in law Day, We've
- 45:15Speaker 30: got father in law Day, and then we've got Women's Day,
- 45:18Speaker 30: Men's Day. They were like, who's missing. Oh, everyone's got family,
- 45:22Speaker 30: but everyone's got brothers and sisters. Let's put that into
- 45:25Speaker 30: the mix. You know what I mean? And how do
- 45:27Speaker 30: you celebrate that? And I was thinking, how do you
- 45:29Speaker 30: celebrate that? And would you celebrate that? And what would
- 45:34Speaker 30: what would be the rules behind it? I mean Valentine's
- 45:37Speaker 30: Day is quite simple, right, simple?
- 45:38Speaker 4: Most of these are one card and you're done. But
- 45:40Speaker 4: this one seems like you buy a bunch.
- 45:43Speaker 28: Yeah.
- 45:44Speaker 30: Then the book out at the moment, and it's called
- 45:46Speaker 30: Who's the Favorite? Right, And as a dyslexic, I haven't
- 45:50Speaker 30: read it, so I'm waiting for the audience veteran to
- 45:52Speaker 30: come out. But it might give us some kind of
- 45:54Speaker 30: ideas of the rules and how we engage with siblings
- 45:58Speaker 30: of the and and the thing is, if you it's
- 46:00Speaker 30: our sibling, and if you don't, maybe this way of
- 46:04Speaker 30: reconciling I guess right, reconnect It might be ye reconnecting.
- 46:08Speaker 30: It might be an excuse to you know, if you
- 46:12Speaker 30: have a good relationship with your siblings, it's a good
- 46:14Speaker 30: way of honoring them or letting them know at least
- 46:17Speaker 30: once you mad to me you're important. And I think
- 46:21Speaker 30: that's what I have to say about this. Actually, I
- 46:22Speaker 30: would love to see what your audience think. Maybe they
- 46:24Speaker 30: should email or text in I would love to see
- 46:26Speaker 30: what how they feel about their siblings, and would they
- 46:28Speaker 30: think this is a really important day you celebrate.
- 46:32Speaker 4: You know whether to your point, I think it's lovely.
- 46:35Speaker 4: I think we all get a chance to kind of
- 46:36Speaker 4: honor our siblings on a day dedicated to it. So
- 46:40Speaker 4: shout out to whoever it was in the corporate ivory
- 46:43Speaker 4: tower that came up with this one. It's a good one. Yeah, nice.
- 47:01Speaker 23: Nay car Meterrakliday comin Mars your formas.
- 47:12Speaker 2: How good your hits the duty?
- 47:15Speaker 6: Then are the side killer?
- 47:16Speaker 2: Have you pee me?
- 47:18Speaker 23: The reds went up with them take the Genisa, not
- 47:26Speaker 23: your two joa toklydaya comina go like your thirty thirty Bunky,
- 47:40Speaker 23: the punk drunken home, cyber punk ho.
- 47:48Speaker 4: There the cartisan. Oh thank that's good.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Epision has a donkey toy. We were.
- 47:58Speaker 23: Round the Evil and you pard many gent.
- 48:04Speaker 2: I'll be on your vacation.
- 48:15Speaker 4: The song is called Dealer, and I'm looking forward to
