- 0:27you laugh, gasp, or stay up way past bedtime with a flashlight
- 0:31under the covers? Well, today we're going to meet
- 0:34the top five Kids Books authors for ages 8 to 12.
- 0:37Think of them as the superheroes of the book world.
- 0:40They have the power to create entire worlds with just their
- 0:43words. So grab your imaginary backpack
- 0:46and let's set off on our quest to discover who these fantastic
- 0:49storytellers are and why their books are so loved by kids
- 0:52everywhere. First up, let's talk about JK
- 0:55Rowling, the author who brought us the magical world of Harry
- 0:58Potter. Imagine you're at a train
- 1:00station, and suddenly you discover a secret platform that
- 1:04takes you to a school for Wizards and witches.
- 1:06That's the kind of imagination JK Rowling has.
- 1:09She dreamed up Hogwarts, a castle full of moving
- 1:12staircases, talking portraits, and secret passages.
- 1:16The Harry Potter series isn't just about magic spells and
- 1:19flying broomsticks. It's about friendship, bravery,
- 1:22and learning to stand up for what's right.
- 1:25Did you know that JK Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter
- 1:28book in cafes while her baby daughter slept beside her?
- 1:31She didn't have a lot of money, but she had a huge imagination
- 1:34and a big dream. Her story teaches us that you
- 1:37can create something amazing, even from very simple
- 1:40beginnings. Let's hop on our story
- 1:42Broomsticks and fly to our next author, Rick Reardon.
- 1:46If you've ever wondered what it would be like if ancient gods
- 1:49and monsters were real and living in our world today, Rick
- 1:52Riordan is your guy. He's the author of the Percy
- 1:55Jackson series, which follows a boy who discovers he's the son
- 1:58of Poseidon, the Greek God of the sea.
- 2:01Suddenly, Percy has to battle monsters, solve riddles, and go
- 2:05on quests, all while dealing with regular kids stuff like
- 2:08school and friendships. Rick Riordan was actually a
- 2:11middle school teacher before he became a famous author.
- 2:14He started telling stories about Greek mythology to his own son,
- 2:17who loved them so much that Rick wrote them down.
- 2:20And guess what? Millions of kids around the
- 2:23world loved them too. Thanks to Rick, lots of us now
- 2:26know who Zeus, Athena, and Medusa are, and we might even
- 2:30wish we could visit Camp Half Blood ourselves.
- 2:32Here's a fun fact. Rick Reardon has written books
- 2:35about other mythologies too, like Egyptian and Norse gods.
- 2:39So if you like Percy Jackson, you can keep exploring even more
- 2:42worlds full of adventure. Now let's take a quick detour to
- 2:46the world of humor and fun with Jeff Kinney, the mastermind
- 2:49behind Diary of a Wimpy Kid. If you've ever kept a diary or
- 2:53drawn silly cartoons in your notebook, you'll love Greg
- 2:56Heffley, the main character of Jeff's books.
- 2:59Greg is just an ordinary kid trying to survive middle school,
- 3:02deal with his weird family, and become rich and famous.
- 3:06The books are filled with cartoons, jokes, and hilarious
- 3:09situations that will have you giggling out loud.
- 3:12Jeff Kinney actually wanted to be a cartoonist at first, but he
- 3:15ended up combining his love for comics and writing to create his
- 3:18super popular book series. Did you know that Diary of a
- 3:22Wimpy Kid started as a website before it became a book?
- 3:25It was so popular online that people begged Jeff to turn it
- 3:28into a real book, and now there are more than a dozen books in
- 3:31the series. One of the best things about
- 3:34Jeff Kinney's books is that they show it's OK to be awkward, make
- 3:37mistakes, and even embarrass yourself sometimes.
- 3:40Everyone's life is a little wimpy now and then, and that's
- 3:43what makes it funny and real. Let's turn the page to our 4th
- 3:46author, the queen of quests and Mysteries, Kate Di Camillo.
- 3:50She's written so many different kinds of stories, from magical
- 3:53adventures to touching tales about friendship and hope.
- 3:56Some of her most famous books are because of winn-dixie, The
- 3:59Tale of Despereaux and Flora, and Ulysses.
- 4:02Kate's books are like treasure chests.
- 4:05You never know what you'll find inside, but you can be sure
- 4:07it'll be special. She has a magical way of turning
- 4:10ordinary things like a dog, a mouse, or even a squirrel into
- 4:14unforgettable characters with big hearts and big dreams.
- 4:18Her stories often show that even when life gets tough, kindness
- 4:21and friendship can save the day. Did you know that Kate Di
- 4:25Camillo didn't think she'd become a writer when she was a
- 4:27kid? She was very shy and loved to
- 4:30read, but she didn't believe she could write stories herself.
- 4:33Luckily, she tried anyway, and now she's won 2 Newberry Medals,
- 4:37which are like the gold medals of children's books.
- 4:40And now for our fifth fantastic author.
- 4:43Let's enter the world of adventure and imagination with
- 4:46Roald Dahl. Even though he wrote some of his
- 4:48books a long time ago, they're still loved by kids today.
- 4:51Roald Dahl is the genius behind stories like Charlie and the
- 4:55Chocolate Factory, Matilda and James and the Giant Peach.
- 4:59Reading a Roald Dahl book is like stepping into a giant candy
- 5:02shop. His stories are full of
- 5:04surprises, strange inventions, magical creatures, and some
- 5:08truly wacky characters. Who wouldn't want to find a
- 5:11golden ticket in a chocolate bar or meet a girl with amazing
- 5:14powers? Roald Dahl's books are funny, a
- 5:16little bit weird, and always unforgettable.
- 5:19Here's a did you know moment. Roald Dahl loved to make up new
- 5:23words in the BFG. He invented words like snoss,
- 5:26cumber, and Frobscottle. If you ever want to sound like a
- 5:29friendly giant, just try saying some of his made-up words out
- 5:33loud. They're sure to make you smile.
- 5:35OK, let's take a quick break and think about what these 5 authors
- 5:39have in common. What makes them so special?
- 5:42First, they all have wild and wonderful imaginations.
- 5:45They can take everyday things like a school, a diary, or a
- 5:49piece of chocolate and turn them into something magical or
- 5:52hilarious. Second, their books are full of
- 5:55characters who feel real, even if they're Wizards, demigods, or
- 5:59talking mice. You can imagine being friends
- 6:02with them, and sometimes you might even see a little bit of
- 6:04yourself in their stories. Another thing these authors do
- 6:07really well is make reading fun. Some of their books are laugh
- 6:11out loud funny, others are full of exciting adventures, and some
- 6:15might even make you cry a little bit.
- 6:16But no matter what, they all make you want to keep turning
- 6:19the pages just to see what happens next.
- 6:22Let's do a quick recap of our top five authors.
- 6:25First, JK Rowling, who brought us the magical world of Harry
- 6:29Potter and taught us about friendship, bravery, and
- 6:32believing in ourselves. Second, Rick Reardon, who turned
- 6:36ancient myths into modern adventures with Percy Jackson
- 6:39and showed us that anyone can be a hero.
- 6:41Third, Jeff Kinney, who made us laugh with Diary of a Wimpy Kid
- 6:46and reminded us that it's OK to be awkward and silly. 4th Kate
- 6:50Di Camillo, who writes heartwarming stories about hope
- 6:53and friendship, starring unforgettable animal and human
- 6:56characters. And 5th Roald Dahl, the master
- 6:59of wacky, wonderful stories that make us believe anything is
- 7:02possible, even flying in a giant Peach or visiting a Chocolate
- 7:06Factory. So the next time you open a book
- 7:09by one of these authors, remember you're not just reading
- 7:12words on a page. You're stepping into a new
- 7:14world, making new friends, and going on adventures you'll never
- 7:18forget. Who knows, maybe you'll even be
- 7:20inspired to write your own stories one day.
- 7:23That's all for today's episode of Kid Cast Daily.
- 7:26Thanks for joining our bookish adventure.
- 7:28Remember, every great story starts with a single page, and
- 7:32your next favorite adventure might be waiting for you at the
