- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stu Gotson Company Live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Is he we have a problem?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Is it that you can't see because I'm looking at
- 0:24Speaker 3: your eyeglasses. They're over here in the studio and you're
- 0:27Speaker 3: in Chicago.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Now I bought another pair. Okay, it's the best scam going,
- 0:33Speaker 1: these pharmacy glasses that you buy and then you lose
- 0:36Speaker 1: them a week later and have to go buy at
- 0:37Speaker 1: the three pack. It's unbelievable. Well, that finally is You're good. Yes,
- 0:41Speaker 1: now you have But that is not the problem. The
- 0:42Speaker 1: problem is I realized during the update there from Mike
- 0:46Speaker 1: that there is a Yankee game going on right now,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and that means Taylor is going to be distracted pretty much.
- 0:51Speaker 1: The Atire show Aaron Judge with his eighth homer of
- 0:54Speaker 1: the year, Aaron Judge, and.
- 0:56Speaker 4: We got a big home run from John Carlos Stanton.
- 1:00Speaker 3: He's playing Wow, Ye, Taylor, you can't have it both ways.
- 1:04Speaker 3: This is your least favorite Yankee team ever? Like, how
- 1:06Speaker 3: are you so locked in?
- 1:07Speaker 4: I'm not moving off that take. I watch every Yankee game,
- 1:11Speaker 4: one hundred and sixty two games. There are gonna be
- 1:14Speaker 4: times where my least favorite team is still playing and
- 1:16Speaker 4: I'm still gonna watch the games, and I'm still gonna
- 1:18Speaker 4: try to support them. My least favorite Yankee team is
- 1:21Speaker 4: still one of my favorite Yankee teams.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Taylor, you think, cause you mentioned how many games they were,
- 1:26Speaker 3: you think the Yankees could ever go undefeated.
- 1:29Speaker 4: They would have to be a lot better.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I can't believe you watch every game. That's such a commitment,
- 1:35Speaker 3: Like I can't even watch. I still haven't seen episode
- 1:37Speaker 3: one of season three of Euphouria yet because it's like
- 1:40Speaker 3: I got other things.
- 1:40Speaker 1: To do, right, Well, the E and Euphouria stands for
- 1:44Speaker 1: every couple of years. I mean, it's all Willy Nelly hazard.
- 1:47Speaker 1: The way they released these new seasons, it's unbelievable. Who knows.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean, you better watch it now, is he? The
- 1:52Speaker 1: next season is going to be five years from now?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Well that's why I'm thinking, you know what, let the
- 1:56Speaker 3: episodes pile up.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I got plenty of time to watch them, right, But.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I'm laughing because the Aaron Judge World Baseball Classic takes
- 2:03Speaker 1: are not aging well. I mean, he's having a season, Taylor,
- 2:09Speaker 1: he is, and you were.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Worried about me. My only complaint with Aaron Judge right
- 2:14Speaker 4: now is they're playing the Angels in this series, and
- 2:18Speaker 4: every time Mike Trout hits a home run, they cut
- 2:20Speaker 4: to Aaron Judge, and Aaron Judge is having a chuckle
- 2:23Speaker 4: fest in the outfield every time Mike Trout hits a
- 2:26Speaker 4: home run like that, right, because they're they're doing this
- 2:29Speaker 4: thing where they're appreciating each other's greatness because they're just
- 2:32Speaker 4: alternating who's turn it is to hit a home run
- 2:34Speaker 4: seemingly every at bat. But Aaron Judge, I don't need
- 2:37Speaker 4: you looking like you're having the time of your life.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Every time Mike Trout hits one four hundred feet.
- 2:42Speaker 1: He's supposed to look upset. I'm with you on that.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yes, you know what when you said Mike Trout, I
- 2:47Speaker 3: thought the same exact thing when you said gian Carlos Stanton,
- 2:50Speaker 3: he's playing and not say like Mike Trout has heard
- 2:52Speaker 3: all the time. You just never hear from him because
- 2:54Speaker 3: he's in that, you know, waste land of Anaheim.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yes, Roger mcdabbell is going to join us. At about
- 3:00Speaker 1: fifteen minutes. Many people in the audience are saying, who
- 3:03Speaker 1: the hell is Roger McDowell. He was a relief pitcher
- 3:06Speaker 1: mid eighties for the New York Mets and other teams.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But this is a personal one for me, as he
- 3:12Speaker 1: was a member of my favorite team, the nineteen eighty
- 3:14Speaker 1: six New York Mets. The last time I was happy
- 3:16Speaker 1: being a sports fan the mid eighties pretty much. So
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to that. Sean Merrimana to join us
- 3:23Speaker 1: in our number two? Is he ice? Yeah? Go ahead?
- 3:27Speaker 3: That sounds so personal with you and McDowell, I'll probably
- 3:30Speaker 3: just say that one out if you're good, You.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Guys could just have at it.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Thank you. I need him all to myself. I want
- 3:35Speaker 1: him all to myself, I do. But is he the
- 3:38Speaker 1: play in tournament which I said is a waste of time?
- 3:42Speaker 1: And here's what happened. Since I said it's a waste
- 3:44Speaker 1: of time, we have had the greatest playing game in
- 3:47Speaker 1: the history of playing games with the Hornet and Heat
- 3:50Speaker 1: and we had Steph Curry with a performance for the
- 3:52Speaker 1: Ages last night. I mean, I don't believe man.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Yeah, so good that guy.
- 3:56Speaker 3: It's becoming like almost an expectation for Steph, Like if
- 4:01Speaker 3: there's a big game, a big moment, no matter what
- 4:04Speaker 3: his physical stature is, he's going to do something spectacular.
- 4:10Speaker 5: And yesterday you could see the effort. You could see it.
- 4:13Speaker 5: It's a little harder than.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It used to be for Steve.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It's a little bit more difficult. You can see some
- 4:17Speaker 3: of that effort. Really am putting it in there. But
- 4:20Speaker 3: when he hit that one to three and then fell
- 4:22Speaker 3: into the stands and asked the fan did it go in?
- 4:26Speaker 5: Okay?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Good?
- 4:27Speaker 3: And then turned around and celebrated. I mean, that guy,
- 4:29Speaker 3: he's just a gift to basketball. He's so much fun
- 4:32Speaker 3: to watch. When you get a performance like that, you
- 4:34Speaker 3: say to yourself, I need that guy in the rest
- 4:36Speaker 3: of the playoffs.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Also, he has well play better during the regular season.
- 4:40Speaker 1: About that, well, he.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Was heard, so he couldn't do it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: That's a question. When he asked the fan that question,
- 4:45Speaker 1: he knew the answer correct, of.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Course, Yeah, you know, he knew the answer. It was
- 4:49Speaker 3: this classic Steph Currage. Just the best probably celebrator in
- 4:53Speaker 3: the history of basketball.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Stu I am shocked that this was the angle you
- 4:57Speaker 4: took from this Warriors game. Ye, I'm logged into your
- 5:02Speaker 4: Twitter account so I could post poll questions faster.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 4: And yesterday I'm watching the I'm watching a baseball game.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I have the Warriors game on and a smaller TV,
- 5:13Speaker 4: but I'm not really paying too much attention to it.
- 5:16Speaker 4: But all of a sudden, I start getting notifications left
- 5:21Speaker 4: and right, and I'm like, what is happening right now?
- 5:24Speaker 4: And then I look to the Warriors game and Al
- 5:27Speaker 4: Horford is turning back the clocks. He goes four for
- 5:32Speaker 4: four in the fourth quarter from three, and it feels
- 5:35Speaker 4: like whenever Al Horford does something, that's a chance for
- 5:38Speaker 4: a Stu Gott's victory lap.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yes, listen, I have said Al Horford should be a
- 5:42Speaker 1: first ballot Hall of Famer. He has multiple championships. He's
- 5:46Speaker 1: one of the best power forwards to ever play the game.
- 5:49Speaker 1: He can shoot threes, he can defend, he can grab rebounds,
- 5:53Speaker 1: he does the little things. Whatever you need Al Horford
- 5:56Speaker 1: to do, he does them for you. And I am
- 5:59Speaker 1: telling you the so Celtics do not win that NBA
- 6:01Speaker 1: championship if not for one Al Horford.
- 6:04Speaker 5: How about that is huh yeah, no, I mean that
- 6:06Speaker 5: was his only Well.
- 6:07Speaker 1: You don't say three? Well, I just.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Could hung up on you saying he got multiple championships,
- 6:13Speaker 3: were you including college?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:14Speaker 5: Well, I just whatever, he's Al Horford, I mean, yeah, no, no,
- 6:17Speaker 5: just making sure.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I just didn't want to mislead the people because I
- 6:20Speaker 3: know in your brand you're thinking he's a three time champion.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Yeh ok two of them were in college. That's fine.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Listen, one for alcouts is three. Okay. That's the way
- 6:29Speaker 1: I look at he's that important to a team.
- 6:31Speaker 4: He is and Al Horford. What Al Horford brings to
- 6:34Speaker 4: the table for a team Steve Gotts is kind of
- 6:37Speaker 4: right in Al Horford's prime, if you could get five
- 6:40Speaker 4: Al Horfords, I like that team's chance to win a
- 6:43Speaker 4: time Taylor.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I don't even think it has to be in his prime.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Horford has somehow gotten like, not necessarily better, but more
- 6:51Speaker 3: useful the older he gets, because that three point shots
- 6:54Speaker 3: so much more reliable. And I don't know what it is,
- 6:57Speaker 3: whether it's reputation or what, but his on ball defense
- 7:02Speaker 3: continues to be great. How I have no idea I
- 7:05Speaker 3: think he might get away with a few things, but
- 7:07Speaker 3: at his age, he should not be able to stop
- 7:09Speaker 3: guards at his size, but somehow he does.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Everyone makes it into that Basketball Hall of Fame. It's
- 7:15Speaker 1: why I hate that Hall of Fame is Al Horford
- 7:17Speaker 1: Does he have a chance to get it? And he'd
- 7:18Speaker 1: be first ballot for me if it were my decisions.
- 7:21Speaker 3: So yeah, because it's the Basketball Hall of Fame, the
- 7:24Speaker 3: Naysmith Hall of Fame, and you can include his back
- 7:27Speaker 3: to back championships in college.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's a possibility, but I think it's a
- 7:32Speaker 5: real long shot. Like how many All Star Games has
- 7:34Speaker 5: he made? Too? Maybe so Stu.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I'm on Basketball Reference right now and they have their
- 7:40Speaker 4: Hall of Fame probability. Yeah, Al Horford is at twenty
- 7:45Speaker 4: six point five percent, so really it's not looking too well.
- 7:49Speaker 4: But maybe he has a opposite of Russell Wilson, where
- 7:52Speaker 4: if the Warriors could go on a run and they
- 7:54Speaker 4: win a title, he could.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Get himself into the Hall of Fame.
- 7:57Speaker 4: And Al Horford he is aging like a fine wine.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Oh he really is. He's got ten years left at least. Yep.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I've kind of I think I changed my mind on
- 8:06Speaker 3: that he's made five All Star Games. Yeah, and historically,
- 8:10Speaker 3: at least in my mind, ever since I believe it
- 8:13Speaker 3: was Mitch Richmond made the Hall of Fame with five
- 8:15Speaker 3: All Star Games. I was like, Okay, that's the minimum.
- 8:18Speaker 3: You get five your Hall of Fame potential.
- 8:21Speaker 5: He's got his five.
- 8:22Speaker 1: He got five, he's got two national championships, he's got
- 8:26Speaker 1: an NBA championship. Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown they've never
- 8:29Speaker 1: won one without him. I mean, how about that? The
- 8:34Speaker 1: same about Drew Holliday.
- 8:36Speaker 5: The reason why.
- 8:37Speaker 4: I want Al Horford to get in is because you're
- 8:40Speaker 4: looking at some of the numbers Al Horford's put up
- 8:42Speaker 4: in his career. He's a twelve point seven points per
- 8:44Speaker 4: game career scorer, seven point seven rebounds, three point two assists.
- 8:49Speaker 4: If Al Horford gets in, we have the new answer
- 8:52Speaker 4: for who is the worst Hall of Famer.
- 8:55Speaker 1: We watch your tongue, young man numbers. He's about little things, okay.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It's about what he says in a time out. It's
- 9:04Speaker 1: about a pregame speech, a little halftime motivation. It's how
- 9:08Speaker 1: he takes the rookies under his wing and he teaches
- 9:10Speaker 1: them the ropes of the NBA. That's what Al Horford
- 9:13Speaker 1: is all about. Anything he gives you in the way
- 9:15Speaker 1: in numbers is just a bonus, Taylor.
- 9:18Speaker 3: He was an All Star in twenty eighteen, which seems
- 9:21Speaker 3: way too recent for him to have been an All Star.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Average for the season twelve point nine points, seven point
- 9:27Speaker 3: four rebound, Yeah, fit somehow in defensive Player of the
- 9:32Speaker 3: Year ranking.
- 9:33Speaker 5: I'm telling you, man, everybody loves them, Sam al.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Horford, who doesn't Draymond Green's gonna get into the Hall
- 9:38Speaker 1: of Fame right easily? Correct?
- 9:40Speaker 5: Obviously he might already be there, really somehow.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He was so good last night. You loved Draymond Green's
- 9:46Speaker 1: game last night, didn't you.
- 9:48Speaker 5: So it's it's.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Crazy because Steve Kur said after the game, and he's not.
- 9:52Speaker 3: This isn't the first time he said this, suggesting that
- 9:55Speaker 3: he might be the best defensive player of all time.
- 9:58Speaker 5: And I don't know.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Who you think of when you think greatest defensive player
- 10:03Speaker 3: in NBA history. Maybe Bill Russell. But if you're thinking
- 10:06Speaker 3: Bill Russell, you need to update that. I think Jordan
- 10:08Speaker 3: might be.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You think Jordan, I mean Jordan pip In. You know
- 10:12Speaker 1: those two goes pretty much, well, that's two people.
- 10:14Speaker 4: He almost only thinks Michael Jordan.
- 10:16Speaker 1: What it's really about it. I mean, that's what makes
- 10:18Speaker 1: him so great. He was just as good defensively as
- 10:20Speaker 1: he was offensively anyway.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Okay, and you don't think that Draymond Green. Maybe, look,
- 10:26Speaker 3: take a deep breath, think about this. Okay, maybe it's
- 10:31Speaker 3: possible that Draymond Green is a better defensive player than
- 10:35Speaker 3: Michael Jordan.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Let's do it this way. Okay, you take a deep breath. Right,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Imagine Draymond guarding Michael and Michael guarding Draymon. Huh. It's
- 10:49Speaker 1: a good point, thank you. Michael would light Draymond up
- 10:54Speaker 1: for fifty.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Fifty every night, But how does that make him at.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Out? We'll go from one of tech. Thank you, Taylor,
- 11:01Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 11:02Speaker 4: So I believe that's what we in the business call
- 11:04Speaker 4: a checkmate.
- 11:08Speaker 5: If that's the case, I don't know how to play chess.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I don't know how this game is played, Taylor, putting
- 11:14Speaker 1: on the polls that you control my Twitter account? Is
- 11:16Speaker 1: that what we in the business call it? Checkmate?
- 11:19Speaker 5: The only way?
- 11:20Speaker 3: So if Michael Jordan was playing one on one against
- 11:23Speaker 3: Draymond Green, and then playing a second one on one
- 11:27Speaker 3: game against himself, then we would know who the better
- 11:30Speaker 3: defender is I gut they're both defending Michael Jordan. But
- 11:34Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure I'll take this back after I say it,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but I'm pretty sure.
- 11:38Speaker 5: I can defend Draymond Green for about a point.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Okay, you don't need to be the greatest defender of
- 11:44Speaker 3: all time to defend Draymond Green. So I don't really
- 11:47Speaker 3: know if I buy that, but hey, i've been checkmated.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I'm not gonna do about it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I am now looking up Michael Jordan. How many times
- 11:53Speaker 1: he made the NBA All Defensive First Team.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Oh, it was not all of them, all of them,
- 11:58Speaker 5: he made all of them.
- 12:00Speaker 1: All right, we'll take a quick time out here eight
- 12:03Speaker 1: seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I don't know why
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm giving out that phone number since we have Roder
- 12:07Speaker 1: McDowell coming up next, but I wanted to ask the question,
- 12:11Speaker 1: Jordan or Draymond who's the better defender? Eight seven seven nine.
- 12:17Speaker 3: You know that's going to come back MJ like you
- 12:19Speaker 3: know that is he? I'm sorry, it's good to me this. Yes, no,
- 12:23Speaker 3: I don't hate this. It just depends on who the
- 12:25Speaker 3: audience is, right. If it's a bunch of people over
- 12:26Speaker 3: thirty five they're all going to say, Jordan, if it's
- 12:28Speaker 3: a bunch of under thirties, they're gonna actually think about it.

- 13:20Speaker 1: think about It Thursday. As Taylor continues to counter program
- 13:23Speaker 1: a local show down in Miami. So Chris give me
- 13:26Speaker 1: the imaging please?
- 13:30Speaker 6: You know that segment talk about a Tuesday on Howks
- 13:33Speaker 6: Crowder and soamiro. This is like that, but bigger, bigger
- 13:37Speaker 6: and better, better, better, and forty eight hours later, this
- 13:41Speaker 6: is think about It Thursday.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Imaging so formal. It is great imaging, Chris, you don't
- 13:49Speaker 4: want to know how much we spent on that imaging.
- 13:52Speaker 5: I don't have dollars.
- 13:57Speaker 1: By the way, the Yankee trailing now six to four daily.
- 14:00Speaker 4: My least favorite team. You're gonna you have kids, one
- 14:04Speaker 4: of your kids is your least favorite kid. This just
- 14:07Speaker 4: happens to be my least favorite Yankee team. Doesn't mean
- 14:09Speaker 4: I don't love them, just my least favorite.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I understand, Yes, So today's.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Think about It Thursday. The White Sox are honoring their
- 14:18Speaker 4: super fan, Pope Leo with a Pope hat giveaway in August.
- 14:23Speaker 4: It was initially announced as a special ticket giveaway, but
- 14:27Speaker 4: it was so popular amongst their fans that they've decided
- 14:30Speaker 4: now everybody in attendance will get said hat. So my
- 14:33Speaker 4: question for you guys, what are the best and worst
- 14:36Speaker 4: promotional giveaways at a sporting event?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Well, that's the worst.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I can't imagine an entire crowd of people in Pope
- 14:44Speaker 3: hats is gonna look good, nor are you do you
- 14:47Speaker 3: can you imagine what they're going to do with it afterward?
- 14:51Speaker 5: Like when are you going to sport this pope hat?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Right? And it's August, I mean a little hot for uh, you.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Know, someone's gonna throw off in that pope hat from.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Two put it on the ball tailer is so I'm
- 15:04Speaker 1: gonna throw up in the po pat from Too much beer.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Does kind of make you look like a Game of
- 15:08Speaker 5: Thrones character.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Though, so for me, my favorite giveaway growing up as
- 15:13Speaker 4: a kid going to Yankee games was bat Day. I
- 15:16Speaker 4: can remember being seven years old and walking out a
- 15:18Speaker 4: Yankee stadium with a full sized bat, which was awesome swinging.
- 15:21Speaker 3: That little sized really yep, full size. They can't still
- 15:24Speaker 3: be doing that.
- 15:25Speaker 4: No, I highly doubt it, but full sized bat just
- 15:28Speaker 4: swinging it in the parking lot. Bibblehead Nights kind of
- 15:31Speaker 4: hit or miss for me. The Yankees do a George
- 15:34Speaker 4: Costanza bibblehead night, which is popular. Sometimes they get a
- 15:37Speaker 4: little too cute with the bobbleheads, like Max Fried has
- 15:40Speaker 4: a Mandalorian bobblehead Night where he's dressed up as the
- 15:43Speaker 4: Mandalorian's that's a.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Little too cute.
- 15:45Speaker 3: For me, I think babbleheads always land as a promotional
- 15:50Speaker 3: item in terms of getting excited, and then if it
- 15:53Speaker 3: lets you down, it lets you down. That's part of
- 15:55Speaker 3: the thing, right, I think bibbleheads are pretty much number
- 15:58Speaker 3: one kind of gold standard giveaway.
- 16:00Speaker 5: I've got two Aaron Eck Blad bobbleheads in my house.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I have no idea why. I'm not a huge Blad fan.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Just got happened to go to that game, and you
- 16:07Speaker 3: can't throw those away.
- 16:08Speaker 1: A couple of bobbleheads cutting it up. Huh.
- 16:11Speaker 3: One of them is still in the box just in
- 16:13Speaker 3: case Aaron neck really in mid condition.
- 16:18Speaker 1: So Stu.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Actually, after this show today, I'm getting on a flight
- 16:22Speaker 4: and going back to New York for the week, and
- 16:24Speaker 4: I'm thinking about going to the Yankee game tomorrow just
- 16:26Speaker 4: because of the giveaway they're doing. It's a hockey jersey giveaway,
- 16:30Speaker 4: but the hockey jersey is a Yankee jersey.
- 16:35Speaker 3: That one's interesting that the shirt or close giveaway is
- 16:38Speaker 3: always tough because the sizes are not they don't ary, right,
- 16:41Speaker 3: They're just gonna give you a large size and hope
- 16:43Speaker 3: you can deal with it.
- 16:46Speaker 1: What are you thinking here? Is he do you have one.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it. That's what I'm doing. It's not good.
- 16:51Speaker 3: This is just a think about It Thursdays, so you're
- 16:53Speaker 3: supposed to think about it, so it's.
- 16:55Speaker 5: Not like we're waiting for a final, firm answer.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I do think you mentioned that day. I think mini
- 17:02Speaker 3: bats or mini anything like. If you give me a
- 17:05Speaker 3: mini basketball, I'm all about it.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Now.
- 17:08Speaker 3: You can't really give those away in a basketball game
- 17:10Speaker 3: because it probably have three hundred of them end up
- 17:11Speaker 3: on the court somehow.
- 17:13Speaker 5: But you give me a mini item of some sort,
- 17:15Speaker 5: I'm down.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I am. I'm looking at some promotions right now.
- 17:19Speaker 1: In nineteen forty two, the Giants had scrap Metal Night.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I mean it's terrible. Free admission for bringing scrap metal
- 17:29Speaker 1: resulted in ten thousand children causing a field invasion and
- 17:33Speaker 1: a forfeitted game. I mean that you.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Said nineteen forty two. Yeah, probably probably for the war.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, scrap metal was big back then. You're right,
- 17:42Speaker 1: I understand what you're saying.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yes, Stu, I have a guest that wants to contribute
- 17:46Speaker 4: on Today's Think About It Thursday. Really it's it's Ai
- 17:51Speaker 4: Colin Coward.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Well, this is exciting. We haven't heard from Ai Colin
- 17:55Speaker 1: Coward in quite some time. This is very very exciting.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Colin, Hey, Ai Colin Coward.
- 18:01Speaker 4: What are the best and worst promotional giveaways at a
- 18:03Speaker 4: sporting event?
- 18:04Speaker 7: The best giveaways are the ones you actually use or display. Bobbleheads,
- 18:08Speaker 7: replica jerseys, a good hat, even a seat cushion for
- 18:11Speaker 7: a long game. The worst ones are the why did
- 18:13Speaker 7: you even make this items? Bags of soil, tiny squares
- 18:17Speaker 7: of bubble wrap, weird novelty stuff that ends up in
- 18:20Speaker 7: the parking lot before the second quarter. A great promo
- 18:23Speaker 7: feels like a souvenir and a flex. A bad promo
- 18:26Speaker 7: feels like clutter with a.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Logo, what do you think about the White Sox while
- 18:32Speaker 4: honoring Pope Leo with the Pope hat giveaway?
- 18:35Speaker 7: I love it. Sports is supposed to be fun and
- 18:38Speaker 7: a Pope hat shaped like a miter with the White
- 18:40Speaker 7: Sox logo is the kind of weird, memorable giveaway people
- 18:43Speaker 7: actually keep, and the move to give it to everybody
- 18:46Speaker 7: On August eleventh against Cincinnati, smart nothing kills a promo
- 18:49Speaker 7: like telling most of the stadium sorry, you don't qualify.
- 18:53Speaker 4: And Colin, you didn't even mention that Pope Leo is
- 18:57Speaker 4: a White Sox fan, which kind of adds to the
- 18:59Speaker 4: entry of it.
- 19:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it's cool because it's real. He's a Chicago guy.
- 19:04Speaker 7: He's been a longtime White Sox fan, and he's not
- 19:06Speaker 7: hiding it. Even when somebody yells go Cubs and he
- 19:09Speaker 7: fires back. They lost. That's the whole charm. It makes
- 19:13Speaker 7: him feel like a normal fan with a global job.
- 19:15Speaker 7: That's not a gimmick, that's personality.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Colin.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Do you think it's a bit dangerous for teams to
- 19:22Speaker 4: give away full sized baseball bats at games?
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's playing with fire.
- 19:27Speaker 7: Handing out full sized baseball bats to a crowd is
- 19:30Speaker 7: just begging for one idiot to turn the concourse into
- 19:32Speaker 7: a problem. Teams already deal with foul balls and broken
- 19:36Speaker 7: bats flying into seats, so why add another hard object
- 19:39Speaker 7: that can become a weapon or a liability. If you
- 19:42Speaker 7: want the vibe, do a mini bat or a foam bat,
- 19:45Speaker 7: same fun, none of the chaos.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Wow is he he?
- 19:48Speaker 4: You agree with your point?
- 19:50Speaker 1: I mean, hey, I don't know how is he feels
- 19:51Speaker 1: about that? I mean, but better than the actual college,
- 19:55Speaker 1: I mean, he's quicker, he's better.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Yeah, better than any of us.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Too.
- 19:58Speaker 5: I'm worried about my job.
- 19:59Speaker 8: Frankly, every time he played AI call and I'm like, Wow,
- 20:04Speaker 8: what would I be as a fast food worker or
- 20:07Speaker 8: something like that, because I don't think I can do
- 20:09Speaker 8: better than Ai Colin.
- 20:13Speaker 1: We have any more. He's so good. I mean, listen
- 20:16Speaker 1: the third question. I forget what it was, but he
- 20:18Speaker 1: would fumble around for at least two minutes before he
- 20:21Speaker 1: gave an answer. Not Ai Collin. Ai Colin spits it
- 20:25Speaker 1: right back at you. So Taylor Man, he should be
- 20:27Speaker 1: hosted a show this What did he say? You useless
- 20:31Speaker 1: giveaway like a bag of soil. Yeah, yes, they've done
- 20:35Speaker 1: that before.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Bag of soil night.
- 20:37Speaker 5: That was the real thing.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Yeah, if I.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Had a guess, it's like, you just get some outfield dirt.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Because in terms of practicality, hey, throw this in your
- 20:48Speaker 3: garden something like that. You know, maybe not the worst
- 20:50Speaker 3: thing in the world, but in terms of carrying it
- 20:52Speaker 3: around practically during a game, not the best.
- 20:55Speaker 4: So Stu. Actually, one time I took a tour of
- 20:59Speaker 4: Yankee Stadium when I was probably seven or eight, and
- 21:02Speaker 4: the only thing I got on the tour I went
- 21:05Speaker 4: with a ziploc bag and I went to the warning track,
- 21:08Speaker 4: and when I went to the warning track, I looked
- 21:10Speaker 4: to see if anybody was looking. I bent down. I
- 21:13Speaker 4: scooped as much of the warning track into said bag,
- 21:16Speaker 4: and then I put it on my wall with tape
- 21:20Speaker 4: and my mom was looking at it, like, you gotta
- 21:22Speaker 4: take that down.
- 21:23Speaker 5: That is dirt.
- 21:25Speaker 4: My mom's an interior decorator, and she was like, we
- 21:28Speaker 4: are not putting dirt up on your wall.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, but did you tell her mom, this is not
- 21:32Speaker 1: just any sort of dirt here, Okay, this is dirt
- 21:35Speaker 1: from the Yankee outfield. And did it change her minds?
- 21:37Speaker 4: I mean no, she didn't care. So I think where
- 21:42Speaker 4: she was mad is my dad would always take me
- 21:44Speaker 4: to these things. And my dad would never say no
- 21:47Speaker 4: to anything one because he's Italian and he doesn't really
- 21:50Speaker 4: understand the significant impact that some of these things had.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Like when I went to a Yankee red socket in
- 21:56Speaker 4: one time, I was like, Dad, can I buy the shirt?
- 21:58Speaker 4: And it was one of those shirts that says Buck
- 22:00Speaker 4: Foston and he was like he was like, yeah, I
- 22:03Speaker 4: don't understand that. So I'm going back to the house
- 22:06Speaker 4: and I'm like all sly wearing it. And the second
- 22:09Speaker 4: my mom sees it. She took that shirt off me
- 22:12Speaker 4: as I was walking in and in one sweet motion,
- 22:16Speaker 4: threw it in the.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Trash I love, and then yelled me your dad.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, this is Italian man raising this new found American
- 22:24Speaker 3: who's learning his way than this country.
- 22:27Speaker 5: It's just like Buck Foston. What does that mean is
- 22:32Speaker 5: that one of the players. Is it Boston? Any good?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh? My god? Is he? How do we feel about
- 22:37Speaker 1: in twenty sixteen the Brewers did paint your own Bobblehead night?
- 22:40Speaker 1: About that?
- 22:42Speaker 9: Man?
- 22:42Speaker 5: That is lazy?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, don't make me do the work. Brewers, seriously,
- 22:46Speaker 1: do me a favorite. Don't make me do the work.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Peyt No, damn bobblehead And when I get there, just
- 22:50Speaker 1: give it to me.
- 22:51Speaker 3: But if you were in the front office, dude, you
- 22:53Speaker 3: would make the fans.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Do the work. Right.
- 22:55Speaker 3: That's a stud God's front office.
- 22:57Speaker 5: I've ever seen one.
- 22:59Speaker 4: For me, cat Nights the most overrated. I don't think
- 23:02Speaker 4: I've ever worn a hat giveaway.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Oh man, you scared me for a second. I thought
- 23:06Speaker 5: you said cat Night.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Could you imagine the chaos if they allow us a
- 23:10Speaker 3: bunch of cats in a stadium like they do the dogs.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Wow, that would be insane.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I'm certain they have. By the way, dog night, I mean,
- 23:17Speaker 1: do me a favor. I go to a baseball game
- 23:20Speaker 1: to watch baseball. I don't need to deal with a dog.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Leave him at home.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 23:29Speaker 2: Live Weekday. Said three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I want to play some sound for Israel Goudyeirez from
- 23:37Speaker 1: one Stephen A. Smith, the greatest of all time, the
- 23:40Speaker 1: greatest ever do this. You're debating that.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Really it should be debated, right, every goat debate should
- 23:47Speaker 3: have especially with Steven A.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Wait, you guys don't view him as the goat of
- 23:54Speaker 1: sports media.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I mean all time is a long time sale is
- 24:00Speaker 5: up there.
- 24:01Speaker 4: So I've viewed Steven A. Smith as the goat of
- 24:03Speaker 4: sports media. But Steven A. Smith himself would respect the
- 24:06Speaker 4: fact that we're even having this debate.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You're right, I'm sorry, but Steven A. Smith, for me,
- 24:14Speaker 1: is the greatest to ever do this. I am the
- 24:16Speaker 1: commissioner of sports radio and he is on my all
- 24:20Speaker 1: time sports media team.
- 24:21Speaker 5: How about that?
- 24:22Speaker 1: But I want to play some sound and get the
- 24:24Speaker 1: reaction from one Israel goody eras because we have spoken
- 24:27Speaker 1: you and I is he about Kawhi Leonard. What a
- 24:29Speaker 1: polarizing figure he is, and last night Steph Curry bounced
- 24:33Speaker 1: him out of the playoffs. Here is Steven A. Smith
- 24:35Speaker 1: talking about Kawhi Leonard.
- 24:37Speaker 5: He's supposed to be the face of the franchise.
- 24:39Speaker 10: The last five years, the Clippers have missed the playoffs,
- 24:43Speaker 10: got bounced in the first round the next three years,
- 24:45Speaker 10: and now they've missed the playoffs again. So as far
- 24:47Speaker 10: as I'm concerned, if you're talking about how to view
- 24:50Speaker 10: his season individually, in terms of his numbers averaging nearly
- 24:53Speaker 10: twenty eight and six on the season, of course those
- 24:57Speaker 10: numbers are very, very impressive, But in the same break,
- 25:00Speaker 10: the investment that has been made in him over the
- 25:02Speaker 10: years has not reached fruition his ability to carry a
- 25:06Speaker 10: team to something that isn't true because he's gone home
- 25:10Speaker 10: in the first round or they've missed the playoffs the
- 25:13Speaker 10: last five damn years, and it's solidified the fact that
- 25:16Speaker 10: he is not the person that you would want as
- 25:18Speaker 10: the leader of your franchise. His individual skills are what
- 25:21Speaker 10: they are, but in terms of galvanizing the troops, in
- 25:25Speaker 10: terms of carrying a franchise and all the responsibilities that
- 25:29Speaker 10: come with it.
- 25:29Speaker 3: That's not him, really, who was doing it in Toronto?
- 25:34Speaker 1: Who was that.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Who've galvanized troops in Toronto and led them and won
- 25:40Speaker 3: a championship with them over the arguably greatest team of
- 25:44Speaker 3: all time, although it was injured Warriors. Like, that's one
- 25:48Speaker 3: of the most ridiculous takes I've ever heard. If you
- 25:51Speaker 3: look at the last few years, if you just come
- 25:54Speaker 3: onto a microphone and say, I don't think Kawhi Leonard
- 25:57Speaker 3: should be the leader of your franchise because he's always hurt,
- 26:01Speaker 3: I'm good with that. You can There's nothing I can
- 26:04Speaker 3: say about that. He played two playoff games in twenty three.
- 26:07Speaker 3: He played two playoff games in twenty four, Okay, so
- 26:09Speaker 3: it wasn't like he was there for all of that
- 26:12Speaker 3: first round even And so yeah, we have multiple examples
- 26:16Speaker 3: of if Kawhi Leonard was the leader of your team,
- 26:19Speaker 3: that he can win you a championship. Frankly, he probably
- 26:21Speaker 3: should have three, if not for one big ray Allen shot.
- 26:24Speaker 3: So I just feel like Kawhi Leonard is misunderstood because
- 26:28Speaker 3: he likes his privacy, likes to be quiet, and when
- 26:31Speaker 3: it comes to a no nonsense basketball player. Listen, he
- 26:36Speaker 3: leads the league and no nonsense, Like, there is absolutely
- 26:39Speaker 3: zero nonsense in that dude.
- 26:41Speaker 5: Okay, So that's the type of player you want.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Like if Kawhi Leonard was on the Miami Heat and
- 26:48Speaker 3: you're gonna tell me he's.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Gonna stay healthy. What a perfect extension of the coach
- 26:53Speaker 5: on the floor.
- 26:54Speaker 3: And that guy even if you make him, you tell
- 26:55Speaker 3: him to run, he's probably not gonna run.
- 26:57Speaker 5: But still he is a.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Perfect extension of the coach out there. And I just
- 27:02Speaker 3: I just don't buy it. It's just recency biases.
- 27:04Speaker 5: What that is?
- 27:05Speaker 1: Taylor put it on the poll. Please, does Kawhi Leonard
- 27:08Speaker 1: lead the league in no nonsense?
- 27:11Speaker 5: Not a single ounce of nonsense, right buddy?
- 27:13Speaker 7: Now?
- 27:14Speaker 1: And I understand what you're saying. I also understand kind
- 27:16Speaker 1: of what Steven A. Smith is saying. He's not consistent
- 27:20Speaker 1: enough in terms of playing where you want him to
- 27:22Speaker 1: lead your franchise, in terms of just being available. But
- 27:25Speaker 1: and I think that's part of the frustration with Kawhi
- 27:28Speaker 1: Leonard is he we all see the greatness every single
- 27:31Speaker 1: time he takes the court. We could see just how
- 27:34Speaker 1: great that guy is as a basketball player and a competitor,
- 27:37Speaker 1: by the way, and he has won two NBA titles,
- 27:40Speaker 1: But I think there is a feeling amongst NBA fans
- 27:43Speaker 1: that if that guy were simply available, if he treated
- 27:46Speaker 1: his career slightly differently than he has, that's a guy
- 27:49Speaker 1: that should have four or five NBA championships. Is that fair?
- 27:54Speaker 3: Well, when you say treated his career the way that
- 27:56Speaker 3: he has, what do you mean by that?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Just you know, all the games off, not being ready
- 28:00Speaker 1: for certain moments, just stuff like that, whatever happened after
- 28:03Speaker 1: he won the first title in San Antonio.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But that's all just it's actual injury issues that he's
- 28:09Speaker 3: dealing with. He's not just sitting out because maybe he'll
- 28:12Speaker 3: get hurt.
- 28:13Speaker 5: He has.
- 28:13Speaker 3: He's had a knee condition that he's had to navigate
- 28:15Speaker 3: his entire career. That's why it was so confusing when
- 28:19Speaker 3: he was leaving the Spurs and nobody could figure out
- 28:22Speaker 3: exactly what the issue was. So, you know, there are people,
- 28:25Speaker 3: lesser players who might have retired with that type of uh,
- 28:29Speaker 3: you know, knee situation that have enough money that you
- 28:32Speaker 3: know they never have to worry about money again. Instead,
- 28:35Speaker 3: he found a way to win another championship, found a
- 28:37Speaker 3: way to build get himself on a Clippers team that
- 28:39Speaker 3: might actually be legitimate. So I don't think him missing
- 28:42Speaker 3: time is a knock on him on how he.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Approaches his career. That is strictly injury management.
- 28:47Speaker 1: So Kawhi Leinner, for you, is a guy that you
- 28:49Speaker 1: would want to lead your basketball team, is what you're saying.
- 28:52Speaker 3: But only if I knew he could actually be healthy.
- 28:55Speaker 3: So I don't think many people even predicted he would
- 28:57Speaker 3: stay healthy this year. And you saw when he was
- 29:00Speaker 3: healthy how good these Clippers were, And so I think
- 29:03Speaker 3: that's the problem. I think that's where the uncertainty comes,
- 29:05Speaker 3: even with James Harden. When James Harden's asking out, it's
- 29:08Speaker 3: not necessarily because he doesn't believe that Kawhi Leonard and
- 29:11Speaker 3: he can lead a team. It's because you might not
- 29:13Speaker 3: believe Kawhi Leonard is going to be around, and especially
- 29:16Speaker 3: when you think of you know, the potential and obviously
- 29:19Speaker 3: didn't happen this year, But any sort of punishment he
- 29:21Speaker 3: gets from the Aspiration deal and potentially you know, circumventing
- 29:23Speaker 3: the salary cap, all that stuff was in people's minds too.
- 29:27Speaker 3: But if you tell me next year. Hey, if you
- 29:29Speaker 3: tell Kawhi, hey, you felt pretty good this year, you
- 29:31Speaker 3: think you can keep that up for whatever it is
- 29:33Speaker 3: seventy of eighty two next year in the playoffs. Absolutely,
- 29:36Speaker 3: I'm taking that guy to lead my team.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Stuart the Clippers. With the Clippers missing the playoffs thanks
- 29:42Speaker 4: to the Paul George trade, Oklahoma City now has a
- 29:46Speaker 4: pick in this year's lottery. They currently have a seven
- 29:49Speaker 4: point one percent chance to move up in the top four.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Is he when you're when you're looking at this trade,
- 29:56Speaker 4: I'm first off shocked that this trade is still still
- 30:01Speaker 4: seeing the effects.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Of it benefits for Oklahoma City.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Yes, right, when when you factor in just that a
- 30:10Speaker 4: one for one trade of SGA for Paul George would
- 30:13Speaker 4: have been a win for OKC. Then you add in
- 30:16Speaker 4: the fact that one of the picks they got back
- 30:18Speaker 4: turned into Jalen Williams. Now they have an additional lottery
- 30:22Speaker 4: pick coming up. Could you make the argument this is
- 30:24Speaker 4: one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history, Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 4: I think it was.
- 30:28Speaker 5: It's already probably the most.
- 30:31Speaker 3: You know, there are trades where somebody clearly overpaid, like
- 30:35Speaker 3: Michael Bridges and all the first rounders for the Knicks.
- 30:38Speaker 3: But that's you know, out of desperation. That's like a
- 30:42Speaker 3: finishing piece, if you will, for a team for a
- 30:44Speaker 3: trade like this to be two franchise type players, or
- 30:48Speaker 3: at least one. At the time, you didn't even know
- 30:51Speaker 3: what Shay was going to be. So when Shay turns
- 30:54Speaker 3: out to be a better player than Paul George, it's
- 30:58Speaker 3: already lopsided, right because they obviously had to give up
- 31:01Speaker 3: so much more to get them.
- 31:02Speaker 5: So you throw in all those It's just it seems
- 31:05Speaker 5: like the trade that never ends. It's like you mentioned Taylor.
- 31:08Speaker 4: So there's a seven point one percent chance for OKC
- 31:11Speaker 4: to move up into the lottery or to move up
- 31:14Speaker 4: into the top four in the lottery. Stu, there's a
- 31:16Speaker 4: scenario where the Thunder are the NBA champs for back
- 31:22Speaker 4: to back years and then the lottery plays out, and
- 31:25Speaker 4: who do they add to their team? AJ Debontsa, Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 4: Darren Peterson, maybe Caleb Wilson from North Carolina, Cam Boozer
- 31:34Speaker 4: from from Duke. There's a chance that this Thunder team
- 31:38Speaker 4: is on the vert Well, it's we're already there, that this.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Is already there.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Yes, we're in the middle on the verge of a dynasty.
- 31:44Speaker 4: They might just get more reinforcements added to said Dinastasy.
- 31:48Speaker 3: And it's not even necessarily just reinforcements, right, it's replacements
- 31:52Speaker 3: for when the other guys get expensive. Hey, Chet Holdenman,
- 31:54Speaker 3: what have you done for me to you know, to
- 31:56Speaker 3: pay you max super max money? Okay, we're gonna stick
- 31:59Speaker 3: with cam Boozer maybe you know. I think it just
- 32:03Speaker 3: it gives them so many options to remain good and
- 32:06Speaker 3: you're not in salary cap hell, because you know they
- 32:08Speaker 3: planned ahead and got a little lucky with SGA.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Hopefully they use that pick on someone who plays the
- 32:13Speaker 1: game in an exciting fashion because they lead the league
- 32:17Speaker 1: in ZZZ plus. I mean, how about that got someone
- 32:19Speaker 1: who could dunk? As that said. By the way, the
- 32:21Speaker 1: last time Kawhi Leonard played seventy plus games is he
- 32:25Speaker 1: twenty and sixty?
- 32:27Speaker 5: I didn't think it was in the NBA.
- 32:28Speaker 4: I got to go wow.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I mean, but I think that's what Steve and a
- 32:31Speaker 1: Steven as absolutely factoring that in that part of it.
- 32:34Speaker 1: In you don't want him leading your team because he's
- 32:36Speaker 1: never going to play seventy games unlike SGA.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Right, Listen, Toronto chose one year to man have that
- 32:44Speaker 3: guy lead that team. He's got the ultimate prize, so
- 32:48Speaker 3: name namely another guy who did that on a one
- 32:50Speaker 3: year loan when and.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Gave an entire country a championship, Like come on, like
- 32:55Speaker 5: we get what's happened lately.
- 32:57Speaker 3: We've always known that his knee would be a problem,
- 33:00Speaker 3: but it was supposed to be a problem that year
- 33:02Speaker 3: in Toronto.
- 33:03Speaker 5: They managed it.
- 33:04Speaker 3: They you know, only had him play a certain number
- 33:06Speaker 3: of games, whatever, sixty games that year won a championship.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So yes, I mean he did win the Raptors a championship.
- 33:13Speaker 1: They kept going to the playoffs with Kyle Lowry who
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know, I think Teres Max. He told us was retiring,
- 33:19Speaker 1: but they kept getting there with DeRozan and Lowry and
- 33:21Speaker 1: Lowry and DeRozan and DeRozan and Lowry, and they kept
- 33:25Speaker 1: getting bounced out in the second round. And then incomes
- 33:27Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard boom NBA title.
- 33:30Speaker 4: If I was Kawhi Leonard, I'd be a little less
- 33:33Speaker 4: worried about that knee and more worried about Pablo Torre
- 33:35Speaker 4: sniffing around.
- 33:39Speaker 5: It's crazy how nothing has come of that.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Like there it feels like this is just one of
- 33:43Speaker 3: those things where they're just gonna let Kawhi's career end
- 33:45Speaker 3: and it's like we never.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Got to the bottom of it.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Oh well, yeah, put it on the pole, Taylor. What'sh
- 33:51Speaker 1: your Kawhi Leonard be more worried about his knee or
- 33:54Speaker 1: Pablo Torre? And I can answer the question. I love that,
- 33:57Speaker 1: I love Pablo, and I say this respectfully, but no
- 34:00Speaker 1: one cares. Stu.
- 34:05Speaker 4: They asked him about that yesterday after they lost. Yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 4: the headline says, Kawhi mom on Clipper's future. Also, he's
- 34:13Speaker 4: not stressing the NBA's aspiration probe.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's always mom and he's never stressing.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I mean, now I've got Pablo Torre and like some Corduroys,
- 34:24Speaker 3: a white T shirt with like a little sweater over it,
- 34:27Speaker 3: just going to the floor, smacking the hardwood and just
- 34:31Speaker 3: standing right in front of Kawai Leonard and see what happens.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I'm just saying, is he I have too many things
- 34:35Speaker 1: in my life to worry about that. That how Kawhi
- 34:38Speaker 1: gets his money, where he's getting it from is not
- 34:40Speaker 1: one of them. I mean, I like fans lit, they
- 34:43Speaker 1: got enough stress in their own life. They don't care
- 34:45Speaker 1: about that stuff. Just give me a game, give me Kawhi,
- 34:47Speaker 1: give me a big game. Let me turn it on
- 34:49Speaker 1: and entertain me. That's all I'm saying. All Right, No,
- 34:51Speaker 1: who cares. I'll tell you who cares?
- 34:53Speaker 3: The old school players who are already mad that the
- 34:56Speaker 3: new school players get all this money to begin with,
- 34:59Speaker 3: and now they get secret money and we're supposed to
- 35:01Speaker 3: be okay with it. Where was that secret money when
- 35:03Speaker 3: I was playing in the eighties.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Dang it, Sean Merriman is going, I'm looking forward to this.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Shawn Merriman was a menace when he played in the NFL,
- 35:16Speaker 1: an amazing athlete. I'm really looking forward to this. Tailor,
- 35:18Speaker 1: you had something.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yeah, we have a caller actually, who wants to talk
- 35:21Speaker 4: Kawhi Leonard?
- 35:22Speaker 5: Oh?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Really wow? No one calling in on Draymond or Jordan?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Who's the better defender? Huh? Eight seven seven ninety nine
- 35:29Speaker 1: on Fox? That is eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
- 35:32Speaker 1: We'll take a call here. Let's go to Mark in Miami. Mark,
- 35:34Speaker 1: go ahead, you're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 35:37Speaker 9: What's up, fellows? Yeah, as far as the pole questions,
- 35:40Speaker 9: Jordan's by a landslide. It's not even close. Draymond's great lee,
- 35:45Speaker 9: but he's not on He's not nowhere near. An MJ
- 35:47Speaker 9: was the best elite perimeter defender and I don't think
- 35:50Speaker 9: there's a close debate on that. As far as Kawhi goes. Guys,
- 35:53Speaker 9: I've never Everybody talks about the Luca trade being the
- 35:56Speaker 9: worst trade. To me, this is my father worst trade.
- 35:59Speaker 9: When you look up all the assets the Clippers gave
- 36:01Speaker 9: up in that trade, you basically gave up an MVP
- 36:04Speaker 9: of the league. You set up a dynasty there in
- 36:06Speaker 9: Oklahoma City. The Clippers are still irrelevant, even though they
- 36:10Speaker 9: got the richest owner in all the sports and Bombers,
- 36:12Speaker 9: they probably got the nicest arena in all the sports,
- 36:15Speaker 9: and they still don't move the needle. There's a redhead
- 36:17Speaker 9: to steps out in their own city. And as great
- 36:19Speaker 9: as Kwahi is, he's the most odd superstar I think
- 36:22Speaker 9: maybe in the history of sports. He doesn't talk, he's mute,
- 36:26Speaker 9: he has no brands. He's just an all around great player,
- 36:29Speaker 9: but nobody knows anything about him. The only thing we
- 36:31Speaker 9: know he has a bizarre laugh and he has a
- 36:34Speaker 9: new balance steel that we discovered because he's in that commercial.
- 36:36Speaker 9: But at least for the mass you could say they
- 36:39Speaker 9: got Cooper Flagg, who to me is gonna be a
- 36:41Speaker 9: generational talent. So when you look at all those factors, guys,
- 36:44Speaker 9: to me, the Clippers making that trade and now they
- 36:47Speaker 9: have no assets left and they're pretty much gonna reboot,
- 36:50Speaker 9: and probably Kawhi is gonna is gonna bolt. And so
- 36:54Speaker 9: I'm just hoping that the Heat hand because I know
- 36:56Speaker 9: Miami's deperate. We haven't landed a whale. I think they're
- 36:58Speaker 9: gonna make a play for Kawahi. I really hope they don't.
- 37:01Speaker 5: That's what I was gonna ask you, Mark.
- 37:02Speaker 9: This is an anomaly. This is this year has been anomaly.
- 37:05Speaker 9: He's not gonna stay healthy. He's gonna play probably about
- 37:07Speaker 9: thirty games next year, and then he will be dumb
- 37:09Speaker 9: enough to the real aman and give him on a
- 37:11Speaker 9: big max deal to take him. So they better not
- 37:13Speaker 9: do it, guys, because I'm healing rumblings they're gonna be
- 37:16Speaker 9: that desperate to really go after him because of the
- 37:19Speaker 9: playing team that we become year after years. So I'm
- 37:21Speaker 9: just saying for Heat Nation, please don't do it, because
- 37:24Speaker 9: I have a bad feeling, guys that they're gonna be
- 37:26Speaker 9: so desperate they're gonna bite and take it. So thanks
- 37:28Speaker 9: for the time, fellas.
- 37:29Speaker 5: Get that Man Break podcast.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah, great, call rack them. I mean to Mark Show.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Oh, Mark in Miami, that's what we go back.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Yes, yes, Mark, I'm gonna give him find me on
- 37:41Speaker 4: social media. I'm gonna give you the hotline number so
- 37:43Speaker 4: you can just buzz in whenever you.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Want the hot You don't give anyone the hotline number.
- 37:47Speaker 1: What are you're gonna give it the Mark?
- 37:49Speaker 4: Mark in Miami just earned it.
- 37:51Speaker 1: He did make me.
- 37:53Speaker 3: He did make me think about a timeline where that
- 37:56Speaker 3: trade doesn't happen and it's just Kawhi, Leonard and SGA
- 37:58Speaker 3: on the Clippers and we all have to be serious
- 38:00Speaker 3: about the Clippers.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, how about his Jordan take?
- 38:03Speaker 2: Though?
- 38:03Speaker 5: Huh it was wrong?
- 38:06Speaker 1: What I mean? He was a defensive Player of the Year,
- 38:09Speaker 1: nine time first Team All NBA Defense. What okay, we'll
- 38:13Speaker 1: see Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Sean barn he was a great perimeter defender as a
- 38:18Speaker 3: man said, so we'll see Draymond he one through five.
- 38:20Speaker 1: He didn't say that he was great. He said he
- 38:22Speaker 1: was the greatest of all time. That's what he said.
- 38:24Speaker 1: He said market He said.
- 38:25Speaker 5: It was the greatest perimeter defender. And I was like, okay,
- 38:27Speaker 5: so that Raymond does more?
- 38:29Speaker 1: Do you know the hotline number?
- 38:32Speaker 9: I did?
- 38:32Speaker 1: That I don't get for nothing, right, That's why Taylor
- 38:36Speaker 1: didn't give it to you. He gave it to Mark.
- 38:37Speaker 5: Okay, I mean you and Mark and Miami are going
- 38:40Speaker 5: to have a podcast
