- 0:19Speaker 1: This morning the Lord desires to speak to us through
- 0:23Speaker 1: the power of His Holy Spirit concerning the blessing of
- 0:27Speaker 1: a quiet life. The Word of God comes to us
- 0:31Speaker 1: out of 1 Thessalonians this morning, chapter 4, particularly in
- 0:36Speaker 1: verse 11 and 12, and it says this, And that
- 0:40Speaker 1: ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
- 0:51Speaker 1: that ye may walk honestly towards them that are without,
- 0:55Speaker 1: that ye may have lack of nothing. This word comes
- 1:00Speaker 1: to us this morning because there's something to me personally
- 1:04Speaker 1: very beautiful about a quiet life. I don't often live
- 1:08Speaker 1: much of a quiet life as far as busyness. But
- 1:12Speaker 1: I often long for it and purposely seek it as
- 1:16Speaker 1: often as I can. And just because we have seasons
- 1:19Speaker 1: of busyness and we have a lot on our schedule
- 1:22Speaker 1: throughout the day or throughout the week. And I know
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm not the only one that has that. We can
- 1:29Speaker 1: still have a very quiet life because what the Bible
- 1:33Speaker 1: is teaching us here in the word quiet is a sustained,
- 1:37Speaker 1: peaceful life in Christ Jesus. See, it goes contrary to
- 1:43Speaker 1: the world because the world often teaches us that if
- 1:47Speaker 1: we're going to have a meaningful life, we must have
- 1:49Speaker 1: a busy life. We are encouraged to accomplish more, to
- 1:53Speaker 1: become more, to build more, to make certain that Other
- 1:57Speaker 1: people notice what we're doing and how we're doing it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And before long, we can begin measuring our value and
- 2:03Speaker 1: the value of our lives by how full our calendars are,
- 2:07Speaker 1: how much we're impressing people, or how much of our
- 2:12Speaker 1: accomplishments appear noticed by other people. That's not what the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Scripture teaches us. Scripture offers us not only another way,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but a completely different way. Because Paul says here, that
- 2:25Speaker 1: we should study to be quiet. And that does not
- 2:28Speaker 1: mean we should become lazy, withdrawn, or unconcerned about the
- 2:33Speaker 1: needs around us. It means we can learn to live
- 2:36Speaker 1: with a settled heart. So we can become, we can
- 2:41Speaker 1: faithfully do the work God has placed before us without
- 2:44Speaker 1: constantly comparing ourselves to someone else or feeling pressure to
- 2:49Speaker 1: somehow prove our worth. That's what the Lord wants to
- 2:52Speaker 1: Teach us this morning the beauty of a quiet life
- 2:55Speaker 1: is we don't have to prove our worth to anybody
- 2:59Speaker 1: but the Lord. And the Lord has already told us
- 3:02Speaker 1: how much we're worth. We're priceless to Him. A quiet
- 3:07Speaker 1: life may not attract much attention, but it can still
- 3:10Speaker 1: be a tremendous influence on people. See, there is a
- 3:14Speaker 1: blessing in waking up each morning with peace in your heart.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That's what this entire podcast has been about from day one.
- 3:22Speaker 1: We're working on over six years now. It's always been
- 3:26Speaker 1: about that. The blessing of waking up each morning knowing
- 3:30Speaker 1: you have peace and that you can sit and you
- 3:34Speaker 1: can relax and you can take a deep breath before
- 3:36Speaker 1: this whole day ever gets started and say, I belong
- 3:40Speaker 1: to the Lord and the Lord loves me and that's enough.
- 3:44Speaker 1: There's something sacred about drinking that cup of coffee maybe
- 3:48Speaker 1: talking to your spouse, doing an honest day's work, helping
- 3:52Speaker 1: someone who needs you and returning home grateful for what
- 3:55Speaker 1: God has provided for that day. See, these moments may
- 3:59Speaker 1: appear ordinary, but they are the very places where much
- 4:04Speaker 1: of our life is found. I want to tell you
- 4:07Speaker 1: this morning that not every season must be filled with
- 4:10Speaker 1: something new and not every day may produce a major accomplishment,
- 4:14Speaker 1: but Sometimes God's greatest blessings are found in the steady
- 4:18Speaker 1: rhythm of an ordinary life. Loving the same people, keeping
- 4:22Speaker 1: the same commitments, praying the same prayers, and remaining faithful
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the place where God has planted you, that's important.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That's important because it establishes foundation. It establishes a standard.
- 4:36Speaker 1: And the very people that follow you and are influenced
- 4:38Speaker 1: by you and your reputation and your integrity, I mean
- 4:42Speaker 1: something to them. They'll always know where to come back
- 4:45Speaker 1: to because of your steady, quiet life. Perhaps we have
- 4:52Speaker 1: spent too much time searching for excitement and not enough
- 4:56Speaker 1: time appreciating peace. We have asked God to enlarge our
- 5:02Speaker 1: lives when He may be inviting us to just enjoy
- 5:06Speaker 1: the life that we have right now. You do not
- 5:09Speaker 1: have to live loudly for your life to matter. That's
- 5:12Speaker 1: what God wants to echo through our spirit this morning.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And you do not have to be known by everyone
- 5:19Speaker 1: to be loved by God. I want to leave you
- 5:22Speaker 1: with this this morning. There is great freedom in living quietly, lovingly, deeply,
- 5:28Speaker 1: walking honestly, and allowing God's faithfulness to speak for itself.
- 5:33Speaker 1: A quiet life is not an empty life. And when
- 5:36Speaker 1: God is at the center of it, it's full, it's blessed,
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's enriched. So today, you be safe, you be strong,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and you be blessed. And you be grateful for the
- 5:48Speaker 1: life that the Lord has given you. We're following up
- 5:52Speaker 1: from yesterday as we talked about just enjoying the day
- 5:56Speaker 1: that God has given you. Well, enjoy the life that
- 6:00Speaker 1: God has given you. It's the only one you'll ever have.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So make sure you make the most of it, including
- 6:08Speaker 1: those morning moments with Jesus. Lord, we will see you
- 6:13Speaker 1: back here again tomorrow. Until then, as always, I sure
- 6:18Speaker 1: hope you have a great day.
