- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I am out at the farm today, and I could not justify being inside at all.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, I darn near talked myself out of doing the podcast.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I'm like, it is too nice to be sitting inside in the studio.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Here we are.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm making it work.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I'm like, we're just gonna bring this setup right out here.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: So we can still keep sharing and living and loving and learning and doing all the fun, high vibrational things.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm called to do.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: You know when God puts something on your heart and He says, just keep going, just keep showing up.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Just for today.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Choose to say yes.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Yes, Lord, yes, Lord, yes, Lord, amen.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And so that's what we're doing.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And I brought my fun tongue drum with me.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And I love this instrument because there is no right or wrong way to play.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: You get a beat in your heart, and then you play.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And you just hit it.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And now there is like numbers and letters that follow, so I'm sure there is a method to the madness.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: But unbeknownst to me, I'm just rolling with it.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I love this sound though.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Listen.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Just play and create and discover and explore, and it's a lot of fun because there's no musical background required.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Just gotta pick it up and follow the tune of your heart and get in tune with your heart.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: But I love that it's so accessible and it's free and there's no right or wrong way to play.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: You just play.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: So the tongue drum can be used in with the storytelling.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: But here we are out at the farm.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: It is full on harvest season right now, where all of the the seasons of summer's hard work, all the tilling and the weeding and the tending to the garden, the fruits of the labor come to fruition here in the fall season.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And it's such a lovely season because you get to see the fruits of your of your labor, essentially, and set yourself up for winter so you have some beautiful things to eat.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I just harvested carrots this week, and I there was a lot of lessons to be learned with the carrots.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I feel like every time you plant that seed, you have like that little bit of that seed of doubt that is in there with it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Like, are these really all gonna come up?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe I should just plant two seeds instead of one, just in case only one comes up, and then it'll be like double.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: But nope, teaches me time and time again that yes, all it takes is that one seed, and that one seed will come up, most likely.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: If you give it love and water and good soil to work with and sunshine, it's gonna come up.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: So I feel like with carrots, you do have to thin them out because you do get a little overzealous with the seeds.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: They're tiny, little itty-bitty, like specks of a seed, is what carrots start out as.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And so, yeah, when you're doing your rows and you're planting them, it's like, okay, like gets away away from you a little bit.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: And it won't matter, just a couple here, a lot more there.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And then you're setting yourself up for more work down the road because then you have to thin them out along the way.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And if you don't thin them out, then you get small, tiny little carrots.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And what we want, right, is like the big juice fat carrots, because otherwise we have to spend more time peeling, right?
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: The more peeling that you have to do if you choose to peel your carrots.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: I know with these smaller carrots, I'm probably not even gonna peel them because the the skin is so thin and it's not as like thick, and you know, it's all organically grown.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So I feel like that's a lot of times the skin is where all the vitamins and the nutrients are at.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: That's just like an apple or a pear, like the skin is it.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And so I'm gonna be eating carrots for days.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: I ended up planting two, probably like 20 foot, if I had to get 20 or so feet rows, and I got a whole five-gallon bucket full of carrots.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And my husband's looking at me like, Ashley, what are you doing with all those carrots?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, well, honey, we're gonna eat them.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Good news is carrots last in the refrigerator for a really long time.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I have tested this out before.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: They last as long as you have them stored properly in your refrigerator for like a month, maybe even two months, carrots will last in the in the refrigerator.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So that's reassuring that you know, I don't have to eat a five gallons more gallon worth of carrots in a week.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: But as long as you take the greenery off the top, that's if you don't take that greenery off, that'll make them floppy.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: So I took the greens off, I put them in some gallon bags, and in the refrigerator they go.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And of course, I'm spreading the abundance in love with all my friends and family.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Everybody's getting carrots.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Carrots for you, carrots for them, carrots for your family's family.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, I am willing to share the bounty.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: But the carrots are small this season because I didn't heed my prior knowledge and I knew better, right?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: But I went ahead and sprinkled them like glitter, anyways.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: And I didn't, you know, summer gets away from you, and I didn't get to thin them out as much as I should.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I did thin them out, but then it's like you're pulling out perfectly good sprouts, like perfectly good greens, and it's, you know, it's kind of counterintuitive sometimes.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Like, well, should I really pull these all out?
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like I'm pulling out my bounty, pulling out my harvest.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: But yes, reminded again, plant less, thin more, and then we could get bigger, fatter, juicier carrots.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And also, I have a patch of carrots that I'm waiting to harvest because my nephew loves plants and he loves being out on the farm.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, well, I gotta wait for my nephew to pull this patch because just the pure joy on his face brings me so much joy and a whole reason to plant.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm holding out for him.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But good news is that we've had glorious weather.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: I could not have prayed for better weather for harvest season than what we're experiencing right now in Zone 5, Wisconsin.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: It is like 70 degrees this past week, and it's looking to be like about 80 degree weekend.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And I absolutely love it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: You're not out here like shivering, bundled up layers, which is fine too.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, we've been there, we've done that, right?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: But but it's nice when you don't have to freeze your buns off and you can just be out here soaking up the sun with your with your bare feet out in the garden.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: That's like the only way to be, right?
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And I just love that this year has been such a blessing and we've been able to do that.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And so just kind of taking your time with it too.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I feel like I know this season has been extended, uh, it seems, with this weather, this gift that we've been given.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And so I've been trying not to be in such a rush.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: I feel like sometimes harvest season, like you're in such a rush to like gather as much as possible because you don't want things to go to waste and and you know the cold weather and the frost is coming.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: So it's like a race against time.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: But this year, I feel like we've been gifted just a little bit more time to be able to take our time and just kind of be in the flow, you know, see what what the workload is calling you for that day or what you can fit in for that day, and just go with it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: And you know, you're we're never gonna get it done.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: We're never gonna get it right, we're never gonna get it wrong, but we're we're we're getting it, guy.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: We are getting it.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And it's been a lot of fun.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: I love jigging for carrots though, like legit, like unearthing, like with the shovel.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: It's like live slack a row of carrots.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: You just never know what you're gonna get.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Like, so you can see where the areas I thinned pretty good and the areas that I weeded better, and you know, it shows the proof is in the carrot size.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And so I just I loved being able to unearth those, those earthly treasures and and just adore them.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: And I just, there's so much work that goes into to gardening, right?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Like I guess it teaches you so much.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: It teaches you like grace and patience and and perseverance to just keep on experimenting because that's really what gardening is.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: It's just a giant experiment.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Like you some years are gonna be better than others.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: You're working with Mother Nature, and you know, she has the plan, you know, from our father.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: So I just feel like the end the work does not end there when you dig the carrots out of the ground.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: You know, now you got the carrots out of the ground.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Some people would say leave the dirt on them because then they will store better if you're not putting them in the refrigerator, but still clip those greens off.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: I ended up washing mine because I'm gonna store mine in the refrigerator.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So I it was very satisfying being able to spray off all the dirt and rinse them off and kind of see them do the have that fresh orange glow about them.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: And can we talk about the smell?
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: For a minute, the smell of the carrots being unearthed, the fresh carrots, is unlike any other.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: It's the sweetness that's in the air.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: And you better believe when I washed those babies off and took a bite, that crunch and the taste, it's unmatched, unlike anything I could get at the store.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: The only place, you know, closest to it is the farmer's market where you can go and get that fresh, good taste and that crunch.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: And and even then, like knowing how it was grown, that relationship with the bounty, it just made it taste all that much more sweeter.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And it was really just really fruitful to be able to harvest those carrots this week and other things too.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: I feel like I've been like harvesting herbs like crazy.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: I that my dehydrator, I just have a countertop dehydrator and it's small.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, only about yay big.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Yay big.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: But it's been going nonstop, like all day, every day.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Like I'm packing that thing full of herbs.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: I'm putting oregano, sage, lemon balm, basils going in there.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: We got flowers like calendula and marigold that are really good for your skin.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: One of my favorite things that I have been favorite herb is this beauty right here.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Holy basil.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, boom.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: It's got that beautiful flower on top.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: A lot of times it'll be purple.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Here, let me grab this one because she's got some purple flowers that are coming about.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: And this is like the perfect time to harvest it when it's just flowering like that.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And this just makes such a wonderful tea.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: The tea is so sweet and so delicious, and just is like this mono or single herb all in of itself, it's just been so giving this year.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: And I just, if you see like this beautiful holy basil patch that's behind me, I've gotten harvest after harvest after harvest from this patch here, and like what a blessing to be able to have such a big patch because I do share it a ton with my friends and family.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Nothing beats fresh holy basil tea, in my opinion.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I feel like if you smell it, it's part of the basil, you know, mint family.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: You could tell by the square stem there and the little hairs on there.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of doing everything the same as like mint would do.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: It helps really a lot with digestion and like easing your tummy.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: But holy basil is revered to be an adaptogen.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: It means that it helps actually bring balance to your body.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: It kills out the free radicals, those cancer-causing agents that are all around us, and you know, in our air that we breathe and the food that we consume.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: It helps like fight cancer pretty much.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: This plant right here does those things.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: It is a beautiful adaptogen.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Feel free to do your own research and look it up.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: It's really fascinating.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: But I feel like it's so intuitive because it's right in the name, right?
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Like holy basil, right?
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: The holy of holy is in this basil, and that is helping bring balance.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: So a lot of people know it as Tulsi is the herb, and that originated in India and is used in a lot of the meditation practices.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: And I just feel like it's so usable.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: You can use this in your cooking, you can use this in your tea, you know, you can tincture this herb and use it all season long when you can't get it fresh.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: It's just very versatile in its uses.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: And that's what I love about it too.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I feel like you can even throw this in some topics and put it on your skin, it'll help kind of like bring everything to balance on your skin as well.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So I can't hype this herb up enough because not only of its medicinal properties and how it can help people, but it's very beginner-friendly because it tastes good.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Like you don't have to add anything to the tea to be able to have it taste good.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And let's get serious.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Like, if the medicine that you're using, especially when it comes to like the natural way, if it doesn't taste good, you aren't using it, right?
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Ripley, do you want some of this holy basil?
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Look at this little baby.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: He always just has to be by his mama from the beginning of the day till when we go night night.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: He's my little cuddle buddy.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: You're such a blessing.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: And he likes the this guy loves the farm so much.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: You know what he's been doing lately though?
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: And I know it's a bad habit.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: He's a puppy, so we're trading him.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: But that, that right there, he will run after the cars in like close side by side.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: He doesn't, I mean, thank goodness he's not running in front of him, but he like runs like close to the cars, and they don't even know he's there, right?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Because he's tiny.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: He can't see him running up and he's fast.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: He just like runs the car up and down the driveway, like patrols this driveway, like to and fro.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And like, full disclosure, when I pull it into the farm, I'll let him out of my vehicle and he'll run alongside me.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: And it's just like what we do.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like getting his exercise in.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Like, he's got a lot of energy, right?
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Like more than I have.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And so, and I need to preserve my energy for the harvest, okay?
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And so he, I don't know if I'm teaching him these habits, or you know, I I will take partial responsibility, but I just pray nothing is going to happen to him.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: He is well provided for.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: It will not be his story, that will not be his destiny, that will not be his path, and I have a lot of faith in that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: I am a good dog mama.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: That's what we do.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Also, I feel like there's a lot of vehicles that are on the farm.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: So he'll run next to the four-wheeler, he'll run next to the UTV.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: He like is always, you know, next to a vehicle.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: So I just hope that nothing happens to him.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Nothing will happen to him, and that's what I'm speaking into existence.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: And that's the story, and we're sticking to it.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: And he's back.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: He's doing his little patrol.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: But if you guys could just take a whiff of what this holy basil smells like, it's like heaven.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Honestly.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: That's how I would describe it.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: And so, again, another suiting factor of why it is named what it's named.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And also, if you look really closely at these purple flowers that are on there, when you think of purple, I know this could be a stretch for some, but if you guys are attuned at all to the chakra system in a way of like ancient healing of like energy centers in your body were made up of seven main chakras.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And this purple is your crown chakra.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: And so when your crown chakra is open, that means you are connected to source.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: You are connected to the divine, to, to, to God, to having that open line of communication, is what the purple crown chakra would symbolize.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: And so I another property energetically of holy basil is that it opens up your crown chakra, which allows that communication to flow back and forth to our good Lord and Savior.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And I feel like it was with this energy and with these realizations about like the doctrine of signatures, what I've talked about, you know, before about how plants can communicate with us.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: It's all about like really building a relationship and an awareness of the characteristics of plants that are trying to let you know how they can help you.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Because remember, all of these herbs, not just cannabis.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: I feel like I started my herbal journey with cannabis and it was amazing.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Like I've always had a connection to the plant.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: I knew it was good for me, you know, since I've been a teenager and have been using that as an herbal remedy, like mainly smoking it because I didn't know any other way.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: But now that I've discovered edibles, like I do not smoke anymore.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, you can tincture it, you can make topicals with it, oils, topicals, edibles, smokables smokables, you name it, cannabis, you can do it with.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And the same goes for all with all these other herbs.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: And I feel like it's really building that relationship with the plants where you can realize how they can be an ally and help improve your quality of life.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: It's so crazy how misunderstood plants are in general.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: If you think about it, right?
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, unless if you know, you know.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: But you can't know what you don't know.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: That's been like my anthem, right?
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Like, honestly, truly, madly, and deeply, you just can't know what you don't know.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: So I feel like the relationship has to go both ways.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like a lot of time we're with medicine, it's treat and prescribe.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And let's be honest, right now, the treatment program that is being incorporated in doctor's office is limited to 15 minutes.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So then we're putting a lot of faith and trust in people that are maybe just for meeting us for the first time and then are trained to then address, know the problem of what we think it might be and prescribe a solution.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: And it's supposed to be work just like that instantaneously, right?
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: Like we're it's just supposed to work right away.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: But plant medicine is not like that.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: It plant medicine really takes time and intention and energetically, you really gotta be tuned into what with your what your body is communicating with you.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: With plants too.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Like plants take time, like just with like with the carrots, like those did not come easy, right?
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Like from planting them in the in the sweltering hot to to weeding and tending and watering, all of it.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: And then then it didn't even end there after you I harvested them, then I had to rinse them, and now I have to like pres prepare them to for preservation.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it it just didn't not come easy, and that's the same that goes with herbs.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Like they take a certain amount of energy, and it's not something that you can just take and it's gonna instantly cure you and fix you.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: Like it just doesn't work that way.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, so I feel like really when you're working with herbal medicine, it is a collaboration of the plant energy and what it has to offer, and your energy and how you're attending to the plant.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: So it really, if you don't put in the effort and energy into it, you're not gonna get out of it what what you expect.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: So I feel like that is really like an interesting concept to talk about, like to have a relationship with plants and their energy.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I have touched on a little bit before with plant initiations, you'll find that when you spend an ample amount of time with a given plant, you'll actually be able to feel their energy.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: It's called like the plant is initiating you, it's giving you like a dose of what it is experiencing in this environment in their world.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: And I feel like you can tap into a little bit of that with the plant wave device that tunes into the frequencies of the plants and makes beautiful music.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: And I sampled this week on my social media, Holy Basil, and what she sounds like with when her frequency for music.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And it was just absolutely beautiful.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: And I feel like even listening to that vibration, that frequency, that su sweet song alone can heal you.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: That their song is healing in and of itself, of just like spending time with these plants.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it's really getting more connected with nature then at that point, of really grounding down and and making it a co-creation, a collaboration of liberation, of freedom for your mind and your body and your soul.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that's what plant also offer is the liberation for the mind, body, and soul.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: Because then the plants work with your body in order to be able to heal it.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: It's not some of these treatments that like seek and destroy, where it's destroying all the cells and and everything that's in the surrounding area where the medicine is going when you're working with, you know, single compound pills.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: But when you're working with plants, it's working with systems.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: It's not, and that's why plants are so hard to be able to be like, this plant is good for your brain.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Like, no, that's not how this plant works.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: Like it actually is working with your entire, your entire bodily function.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And it's the experience is different for everybody.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: The way I experience holy basil, it could be totally different than the way that you experience holy basil, and that's okay.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: But good news is a lot of the plants are safe unless you are using them heavily, right?
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Or you know, your dosing is out of whack and you're not in tune with what your body's telling you when it says too much.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I can relate that back to cannabis because I feel like a lot of people get bit by her because they use too much and because they don't have that relationship.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: They're going off of what other people are prescribing, besides listening to themselves and what they need and how they feel and what's best, how best to consume for yourself.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: So I feel like that's just a really good plant to bring to light because you've heard of the stories of people greening out and eating too much and not having a good experience, but you don't hear about it so much of other plants, but they have a way of communicating that too.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: And just like a general rule of thumb, like if the plant looks dangerous, it probably is.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: The plants have a way of communicating and telling you these things, and you should listen, right?
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: It's common sense and it's in something that's ingrained into us.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: And, you know, if you think of like generational knowledge, like just a hundred short years ago, like plants were the original medicine.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: This is all people had.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: You know, I was trying to talk to my daughter about like doctors and like how, you know, the healthcare system is broken.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I don't really trust them very much anymore.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: And now, don't get me wrong, of course, there is a place for the Western medicine, but I'm trying to stay out of the doctor's office as much as possible and and you know, be up do a proactive approach to my health instead of reactive by using nature's gifts.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And I was telling her how doctors used to do house coal calls and come to your house and you know, get to they knew you, they knew your family, they knew your mother, your father, and your grandpa and your grandfather, and like your history, and they could able to spend some time with you and really cared, right?
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: Like they poured into you.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that is few and far between nowadays.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: But that's okay because we have to be here now.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: And the good news is that some of this plant medicine is just planting a seed away, whether you're in a rural or urban area, it's getting the gumption, the get up and go to be able to invest in that relationship with your environment and utilize the gifts is really what it is.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: And so what a beautiful day to be alive.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: And as I'm talking here and looking in front of me, and I see all this beautiful dandelion leaves.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And I've said this before, and I'll say it again a three dandelion or four dandelion leaves is a late a day will keep the doctor away.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: It's a great liver detoxifier and cleanser.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: You can call this grass anymore.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: It's more like clover and dandelions and a lot of plantain, a lot of plant medicine that just exists where I'm sitting right here, right now.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: And I know it.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And it all started with me like identifying it and knowing its name.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: So I know that this is a dandelion leaf without a doubt.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: And I've experienced it for myself.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: I have that relationship with it.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: I'm able to call upon it when I need it, and it's accessible for me.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And glory be to God, how grateful I am that I can say those things, that I can step out of the door and find organic dandelion that I don't have to worry that was sprayed upon or it has any chemicals or fertilizers in it.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: I can just eat it, just add it as it is, and I know it's gonna help my digestion.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: And since it has a yellow flower, I know it works with my solar plexus, which is everything in this area, like by my belly button area, my I am energy center.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: And the in the name itself is actually mean lion heart.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: So it's channeling that energy and that spirit of just being fearless and courageous.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: And that is how we're called to live, my friends.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: But I really just wanted to urge people to have a relationship, not only with plants, but with our creator as well.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: You might call it creator, savior, God, but I wanted to bust out the most read book in the world.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: And it's true stories that are in here.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: These are this is really a history book of what God breathed on it.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: It is the gospel, it is the holy of holies, and it is truth, and it is proven.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: And you could go to these historical sites and see indeed where the tomb was, right?
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: You can go to Jerusalem and get the whole history context of the Bible and where this is all based.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, I feel like I had to tell my kids that.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: And they're like, wait, what?
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Like, these aren't just stories made up, you know, for us to learn.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: I'm like, absolutely not.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: Like the Bible is truth.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: And this is such a great way to develop your relationship with Jesus, one who is cheering for you every step of the way, who is just a prayer away to to help and love and pour into you endlessly.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: And that is such good news that it's just the greatest thing that we could possibly ever pray for, is to be able to have somebody inside of us, actually, the Holy Spirit, and that we could call upon at any time with and cast all of our worries and our fears and our anxieties and lay them at the foot of the cross.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Like, what a beautiful thing to be able to tap in, not to mention all of his bounty and goodness that he's so graciously bestowed on all of us.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Talk about harvest season, like reap what you sow.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Like you're these plants and God and in relationships, it's not just one side.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: And I feel like a lot of times people will rub the rub the Bible like it's some kind of genie, like it's a magic lamp.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And if I just ask and pray for that, that special thing, that special car, that house, or the pool, or my loved one, like it'll happen.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: It'll happen for me.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, you can say me, me, me, I, I, want, want, want, all you want, but you have to stop and take the time to listen.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: And I feel like a lot of the times we forget to listen.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: And God gave us two ears and one mouth for a darn good reason.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: And that is to do more listening and how he communicates with you.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: And there's so many different ways.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: And he loves to communicate through nature.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: And that's why I feel like garden time is the best time because the communication is so clear and so strong when you're spending time and building relationships with his creation.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Such a beautiful thing to witness and be a part of.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: And and it makes you want more.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Like you see, you see how it feels, and you feel so peaceful when you come out of the garden, and then you find yourself spending more and more and more time in it.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: And that's kind of how the Bible is is the more time that you spend in the Bible, the more better you feel.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: And then you're like, oh wow, like now my two-minute, my one passage a day, a goal that I set for myself is now becoming 10 minutes, and those 10 minutes is gonna become 20.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And then before you know it, you're spending an hour in his good word, and you're gonna set forth on the battlefield and your life on fire with his holy goodness and on a mission in unity and co-collaboration with the earth.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: And how wonderful is that! I just absolutely love it.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: I've been reading in 2 Timothy in my Bible, and it's a short chapter.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: There's only four chapters in it.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: And I just want to share with you, if you'll listen a little bit about the what the first chapter said.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: Chapter one, section six.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying of my hands through Jesus alone.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Woo! Love and self-discipline.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Power, love, and self-discipline.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: How sweet it is.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: Self-discipline is hard choices.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: They're all around us every day, all the time.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: We can make good choices.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord of me, his prisoner.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Rather, join me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: He has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: And of this gospel I was anointed a herald, an apostle, and a teacher.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: This is why I am suffering as I am.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: Yet it is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: What you have heard from me, keep his pattern of sound teaching.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: With faith and love in Christ Jesus, guard the good deposit that has that was entrusted in you.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: I feel like I'm on fire for Jesus because people are dying and going to hell.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: It is so crazy to think that there are people out there that don't know that this hope in love and peace exists.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: And you can't know what you don't know.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: And that's why it is so important to go out and spread the message of peace, love, and hope.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Because once people taste and see, they will trust.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: And they will trust the process and trust our your divine path and your journey and your experiences and not second guess themselves and not let the devil do his dirty deeds.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: And we could say, not today.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: Just for today, we will be light bearers and beacons of hope.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Just for today, we will concentrate on exuding love and confidence in the power of his name.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: That just with the speaking the name of Jesus, people can be healed of all hurt, of all worries, of all fear, of all anxiety just by saying his name.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: That is powerful.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: And we are powerful too.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: We are his hands and his feet.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: And it takes a whole body of Christ.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: And angels are everywhere around us.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Every single encounter, everything, everything is on purpose, and it doesn't go overlooked by him.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: So how's how wonderful that we can be assured and trust in his plan.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: But it's only by tasting and seeing and listening that we'll be able to transform our mind, body, and soul and live super abundantly.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: That's the calling.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: That is the calling.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: And now I find myself in all of this superabundance of harvest season, surrounded by beautiful plant medicine that I've tend to and nurtured all season long, and heeding the calling to share, to take what little gifts that have been bestowed upon me by God and share them with people in the best way that I know how, because I'm listening.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: I'm listening to our Father.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: He's a good, good.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: I want to invite you to a couple things.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: If you will say yes, Lord, yes, Lord, yes, yes, Lord, amen.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: Cause I got a feeling that if you're listening right now.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: It was meant to be.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: Yes, it was meant to be because you're listening.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: Come to the farmers market, West Bend Farmers Market on Saturday morning.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: There's only four markets left.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Four opportunities to connect.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: Four opportunities to build relationships.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Four opportunities to support local and pour into your community and get what's good for you.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: Get what you need.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Stock up for the winter.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, we need to stock up on honey.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: We need to stock up on maple syrup.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: We need to stock up on root vegetables because those can last really long.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: We can stock up on herbs as well to be able to dry and preserve.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: We gotta stock up on all of the farm freshness that is seasonal right now because that is the goodness that he's providing in this this is the season.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: So farmer's market is a wonderful place to come create, discover, and explore with your neighbors and pour back in your community.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: And if you're not getting it for yourself, get it for a neighbor.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Get some homemade cookies for your neighbor.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Get some really good granola.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Get some really good egg rolls, is what my aunt always loves to get.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: And she always gives some to me.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: But you know, think of other people too while you're there.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Because we're supposed to love our neighbor more than we love ourselves.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: So it's a great, wonderful opportunity.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: And trust me, those farmers that are doing this for a living, it's their livelihood.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: They depend on it.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: And it keeps their farm and their mission and their vitality going by being able to just share the abundance and have it be well received by the community.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: So get to the farmer's market.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: It is some really nutritious and delicious, wonderful, soul-nourishing goodness that you'll find there.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: And also, I want to invite you to get plugged in.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: I go to New Life Church off of Highway D in West Bend.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: And those people are is my church family.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: And they're people that I can depend on and trust and rely on.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: And I built relationships with those people.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: It didn't come overnight.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: It didn't happen immediately as soon as I stepped in there.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: No, the place didn't start on fire.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: But over time, slowly, he always met me where I was at.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: And I've built some beautiful relationships with people and that I've put such a wonderful taste of God in my mouth.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: And I can't say that for everybody, but most people.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: And so I'll love always wins.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: I'll believe in the good.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: And if you're not, you know, around the West Bend area and can't make it to New Life Church, uh, where I'm on the worship team and sing and learn and sing his praises, get plugged in somewhere else.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: You know, you'll find someplace that feels good and feels aligned and keep going and be consistent.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: You might not go every Sunday, and that's okay.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: He always needs to see where you're at.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: So just make an effort because at church, it is helping strengthen that relationship.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Everything that you're reading in the Bible, the books and the chapters that you're reading, you can go there and ask questions and talk about it.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like having built-in teachers right there of people that have more experience and knowledge than you, and they can so generously share that with you, whether it's you know the pastor and the sermon or with a friend as you're communicating with like-minded individuals.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: So get plugged in.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: It's really good stuff.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: It is love after all.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: What are we so scared of?
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: The answer is yes.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Yes, Lord.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: Yes, Lord.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: Cannot get a hey men.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: Thank you for sticking around with my my goofy zany.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: But you know, sometimes I second guess myself and I do have to say, not today, devil.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: We're gonna choose to be light bearers and sit in the light.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: And I have been called to share in the best way that I know how.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: And here I am.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: Here I am, Lord, throwing up my hands in full surrender and giving it all to you.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: And I feel like the proof is in the harvest, right?
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: Of the the super abundant harvest that has been so generously and graciously bestowed upon me, and I live to share it with y'all.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: So thanks for tuning in.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Give me a heart, like, a share, a thumbs up, could tell a friend it all is good vibes here.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: Keep the good vibes going.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: Much love.
