- 0:30I Hate Talking: Welcome to episode 19 of I Hate Talking.
- 0:33I Hate Talking: Hi everyone.
- 0:34I Hate Talking: So today's word or phrase that we'll jump straight to is the phrase Mandela effect.
- 0:40I Hate Talking: Oh, cool.
- 0:42I Hate Talking: So the Mandela effect is a type of false memory that occurs when many different people incorrectly remember the same thing or if you're in the conspiracy theory realm, it may be because they changed history or somehow reprogrammed the simulation.
- 1:02I Hate Talking: So this came from the example of this particular false memory that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the 1980s, but was still alive for many, many years.
- 1:21I Hate Talking: And actually, I don't even know if he is still alive to this day.
- 1:23I Hate Talking: I doubt it, but I guess we can uh do some research on that during uh this episode and see what we can find out about that.
- 1:33I Hate Talking: But that is the.
- 1:35I Hate Talking: Source of this particular phrase regarding the Mandela effect.
- 1:41I Hate Talking: Well, according to Google, if you can trust them, he passed away in 2013.
- 1:48I Hate Talking: So far different than the 1980s that some people remember.
- 1:54I Hate Talking: Yeah, decades later.
- 1:56I Hate Talking: So there's a number of Mandela effects that you can find by just typing into Google Mandela effect.
- 2:04I Hate Talking: There's a number of websites with, you know, clickbait titles of, you know, 54 Mandela effects that will blow your mind and uh things like that.
- 2:12I Hate Talking: But uh let's see if you're familiar with any of these.
- 2:17I Hate Talking: What is pictured in the fruit of the Loom logo?
- 2:21I Hate Talking: Oh, it's like fruit in like a bowl, like bananas and apples, maybe like an orange.
- 2:30I Hate Talking: In some sort of container like a bowl, you said.
- 2:33I Hate Talking: And what kind of bowl would that be?
- 2:35I Hate Talking: Can you describe that in more detail?
- 2:37I Hate Talking: Um, it's like just a white or off-white bowl, right?
- 2:43I Hate Talking: Or maybe, no, wait, uh oh.
- 2:44I Hate Talking: Wait, is it like uh More, uh, yeah, now I think I'm gonna stick with that answer.
- 2:51I Hate Talking: So according to Fruit of the Loom that uh their official logo has just the fruit, so like apple, grapes, um, maybe some different colored grapes, and that the bowl or what is typically referred to as a cornucopia or a horn of plenty.
- 3:14I Hate Talking: I almost said yes.
- 3:17I Hate Talking: I wasn't pitching a cornucopia.
- 3:19I Hate Talking: I was picturing that um the weaving, the woven.
- 3:23I Hate Talking: Bowl is what I thought of.
- 3:26I Hate Talking: Oh man, -- should have went with -- that.
- 3:28I Hate Talking: Well, there you go.
- 3:28I Hate Talking: So you did picture in your mind the cornucopia.
- 3:32I Hate Talking: And the fruit contained within, but according to Fruit of the Loom, they never had that particular logo, and it has always exclusively been the fruit, or if you look at some of their uh later um publications on this, uh, they actually have some pictures that go all the way back to 1926 uh with regards to their particular logo.
- 4:01I Hate Talking: So, now I want to go through y'all's clothes, like your undershirts and see.
- 4:08I Hate Talking: So I feel like Then why do we all think, picture the cornucopia then?
- 4:13I Hate Talking: So, we are not sure.
- 4:17I Hate Talking: Um, this is considered one of the prime examples of the Mandela effect.
- 4:24I Hate Talking: And, you know, according to the uh Perception of the cornucopia in the logo, it actually goes back decades.
- 4:36I Hate Talking: Um, there's a number of, um, False images and um Things of that nature that uh.
- 4:48I Hate Talking: That described this, the fertile loam logo has always contained an apple, green grapes, purple grapes, and leaves, um, and they actually, there's some websites that did a search and actually went back, like I said, all the way to 1926 to find all the different logos from that time until current and uh we're not able to find any particular logos that contained the cornucopia.
- 5:14I Hate Talking: OK.
- 5:15I Hate Talking: What are some other examples then?
- 5:17I Hate Talking: I gotta get one of these right.
- 5:19I Hate Talking: So one supposed explanation of this is actually that the fruit of the loom with the cornucopia was used in knockoff clothing, so that basically there were false manufacturers of clothing that claimed to be fruit of the loom and they use this particular logo instead of the official logo.
- 5:40I Hate Talking: Oh, OK.
- 5:42I Hate Talking: So that's why some people would argue that they do have for the loom.
- 5:47I Hate Talking: Clothing with a cornucopia, but you're saying that that wouldn't be an original.
- 5:51I Hate Talking: Correct.
- 5:52I Hate Talking: And that um is the explanation that a number of researchers have given in terms of how people have photos of clothing with the fruit of the loom cornucopia.
- 6:03I Hate Talking: Icon on it.
- 6:06I Hate Talking: OK.
- 6:07I Hate Talking: So another popular one that uh is often cited is the Bernstein Bears.
- 6:15I Hate Talking: So when you're spelling Bernstein Bears, any particular thoughts on how that is spelled or even pronounced because I may even be doing it wrong, because I think I may actually be uh referring to.
- 6:29I Hate Talking: The wrong Uh name actually, in calling it the Bernstein bears, Bernstein bears.
- 6:36I Hate Talking: So you're saying Steen, Bernstein, yeah.
- 6:40I Hate Talking: And that is the Mandela effect is that it would be spelled B E R E N S T E I N, the Bernstein bears, uh but it's actually the Barnste bears, B E R E N S T A I N.
- 6:58I Hate Talking: Now again on this one, there are some DVDs that I think I've seen pictures of where it does have the spelling with the E.
- 7:10I Hate Talking: Um, there is even some, um.
- 7:13I Hate Talking: Toys that have the barn stain bears versus the Barnstein bears.
- 7:20I Hate Talking: Uh, so there are uh some examples, um, but in all the official books, uh, it is Ben Stain, and that is actually named after the authors, Stan and Jan Bernstein, so, uh, unlikely that they would get their own name incorrect.
- 7:41I Hate Talking: I guess not.
- 7:43I Hate Talking: Immer for them.
- 7:45I Hate Talking: OK, well, did you know that in Star Wars, the Luke I am your father was never said?
- 7:53I Hate Talking: Yep, that is correct.
- 7:56I Hate Talking: Another uh popular Mandela effect where that line is often quoted but it does not actually appear in the movie.
- 8:03I Hate Talking: No, his official line is, no, I am your father.
- 8:07I Hate Talking: Yes, indeed, another interesting one.
- 8:10I Hate Talking: So.
- 8:11I Hate Talking: Uh, I would have, uh, definitely quoted that incorrectly had I not, uh, been studying this particular subject.
- 8:19I Hate Talking: Um, so for the loom, Bernstein bears, the, uh, Luke I am your father, um.
- 8:26I Hate Talking: Another one that uh refers to uh some wording in particular a lyric.
- 8:33I Hate Talking: How does the song We Are the Champions end?
- 8:36I Hate Talking: Champions, we are the champions.
- 8:38I Hate Talking: We are the champions, my friend.
- 8:40I Hate Talking: Well, that's interesting because that's not even one of the Mandela effects nor the correct answer.
- 8:48I Hate Talking: Most people, uh, and if you're singing that to yourself or in your head, uh, may have been singing We are the champions of the world, um, but that phrase of the world does not occur in the actual ending of the song.
- 9:02I Hate Talking: What's the end of the song then?
- 9:04I Hate Talking: We are the champions.
- 9:05I Hate Talking: Oh, -- but I said my -- friend.
- 9:08I Hate Talking: I added that.
- 9:09I Hate Talking: OK.
- 9:09I Hate Talking: OK, another quote.
- 9:12I Hate Talking: Is Forrest Gump.
- 9:14I Hate Talking: Life is like a box of chocolates.
- 9:17I Hate Talking: And that's not correct.
- 9:19I Hate Talking: Do you know what the original line is?
- 9:23I Hate Talking: You never know what you're gonna get is the ending of the phrase, but I think that's probably correct, but I'm not remembering the beginning of the phrase.
- 9:32I Hate Talking: He actually says, life was like a box of chocolate.
- 9:37I Hate Talking: Well, there you go.
- 9:38I Hate Talking: Going back to the We Are the Champions, there's actually lyric sites that have that lyric on there, but then there's other websites that uh just say that it ends with no time for losing because we are the champions and then fades into silence.
- 9:53I Hate Talking: Uh, so I guess, uh, may have to go listen to the, uh, the song and come back.
- 10:01I Hate Talking: All right, and then, um, our kids are asleep right now, but I'm gonna definitely ask one of ours who is a big time Pokemon fan.
- 10:12I Hate Talking: That they're saying that that Pikachu.
- 10:17I Hate Talking: Does not have a black tip on his tail.
- 10:20I Hate Talking: It's solid yellow.
- 10:22I Hate Talking: And I would have put money down that the tip was black.
- 10:26I Hate Talking: There you have it.
- 10:28I Hate Talking: So, yet another one, even in uh childhood.
- 10:31I Hate Talking: Cartoons All right, so, uh, through the power of editing, we actually just listened to the We Are the Champions and, uh, according to Spotify, the original song by Queen does end with no time for Losers because we are the champions and then has a little bit of an instrumental and then just sort of fades off.
- 10:52I Hate Talking: Uh, the lyrics are correct on Spotify, but on some of these other lyric websites, uh, it does have the incorrect thing stated.
- 11:01I Hate Talking: Wow, crazy.
- 11:03I Hate Talking: Can't even trust Google Google nowadays.
- 11:06I Hate Talking: All right.
- 11:08I Hate Talking: And then uh one of my favorites, uh, because we are typically are around a lot of Christians that, uh, like to talk about the Bible, and this is one that, uh, during the late night conversations can uh makes people think, so what animal laid down with the lamb?
- 11:29I Hate Talking: OK.
- 11:30I Hate Talking: Well, I know the answer because, well, now I'm confused.
- 11:34I Hate Talking: I know what you want me to say, because everyone will say lamb, the lion lay down at the lamb.
- 11:41I Hate Talking: Um, but it is the Was it like a What?
- 11:51I Hate Talking: What is it?
- 11:53I Hate Talking: That's correct.
- 11:53I Hate Talking: -- So -- I started second guessing myself.
- 11:56I Hate Talking: So that's Isaiah chapter 11 verse 6 that says the wolf shall also dwell with the lamb.
- 12:03I Hate Talking: So like you said, a lot of people will think of the lion and the lamb, and uh, there actually is some.
- 12:11I Hate Talking: Explanation perhaps on the history of that one, because there was a popular song in the 70s or 80s, I believe, where uh the particular artist had written a song that the lion child lie down with the lamb.
- 12:29I Hate Talking: So uh they perhaps uh misquoted that particular verse or had something else completely in mind and that was uh perhaps what affected people's memory of what the actual Bible verse is.
- 12:42I Hate Talking: Um, and then also there's a lot of uh artist renditions of a lion and lamb laying down, but if you actually search, you can search, uh, Wolf laying down with the lamb, and there's also quite a lot of artists renditions of that particular scene as well.
- 13:00I Hate Talking: I feel like I can't trust life anymore.
- 13:04I Hate Talking: Well, how would you spell Chick fil A?
- 13:07I Hate Talking: So Chick fil A.
- 13:09I Hate Talking: I think it's just because people don't know how to spell because I Don't have any particular memory of one way or the other.
- 13:20I Hate Talking: Maybe this is because Chick fil A wasn't really a popular restaurant in my childhood.
- 13:26I Hate Talking: It's, it's become more of a mainstay here within the last, you know, decade or two.
- 13:32I Hate Talking: I think I spell it correctly.
- 13:35I Hate Talking: It'd be Chick, C H I C K dash F I L dash A.
- 13:41I Hate Talking: Yeah, most people leave off the K apparently.
- 13:45I Hate Talking: Uh So it's more like chic file.
- 13:49I Hate Talking: Hi guys, I do not know why I'm here, but my tooth just fell out, so I'm gonna leave this closet, or I mean studio, bye.
- 14:02I Hate Talking: Well, before you go.
- 14:03I Hate Talking: Before you go, What color Is Pikachu's tail.
- 14:10I Hate Talking: Well, last time we checked, it was like yellow with like brown stripes.
- 14:17I Hate Talking: Was there any color on the tip of his tail?
- 14:21I Hate Talking: Well, if brown counts as a color.
- 14:24I Hate Talking: Brown, so a brown tip on his tail that's mainly yellow.
- 14:27I Hate Talking: Yes.
- 14:29I Hate Talking: OK.
- 14:29I Hate Talking: It also alert the tooth fairy, so bye.
- 14:33I Hate Talking: OK, so can you tell me what color is Pikachu's tail?
- 14:38I Hate Talking: Brown.
- 14:40I Hate Talking: Brown, is it all brown?
- 14:42I Hate Talking: No.
- 14:43I Hate Talking: OK, does it, what colors does it have in it?
- 14:46I Hate Talking: Yellow and brown.
- 14:49I Hate Talking: So it has like a brown tip on the tip of the yellow tail.
- 14:53I Hate Talking: Yes, a tiny, a tiny one, so tiny.
- 14:57I Hate Talking: A tiny tip of brown on a yellow tail, excellent, thank you.
- 15:00I Hate Talking: OK, now you just remembered another detail.
- 15:03I Hate Talking: Go ahead and share.
- 15:05I Hate Talking: At its yellow.
- 15:06I Hate Talking: So it's all completely yellow?
- 15:09I Hate Talking: No, not completely yellow.
- 15:11I Hate Talking: All completely yellow?
- 15:13I Hate Talking: Nope.
- 15:13I Hate Talking: OK, but it does have some other color on it.
- 15:16I Hate Talking: Yes, yes.
- 15:18I Hate Talking: What other color on it does it have?
- 15:19I Hate Talking: And that was our Pokemon expert.
- 15:23I Hate Talking: He does know a ton about Pokemon.
- 15:25I Hate Talking: And he fell for the Mandela effect for poking Pikachu's tail.
- 15:29I Hate Talking: Precisely.
- 15:30I Hate Talking: So there's actually a lot of other Mandela effects related to the spellings of words.
- 15:36I Hate Talking: We've already touched on, I guess, to the barn stain bears and Chick fil A, um, another whole, there's a whole bunch of them, but there's peanut butter, a lot of people call that Jiffy.
- 15:48I Hate Talking: Uh, Looney Tunes uh is not spelled with the Tunish double O.
- 15:55I Hate Talking: It's actually spelled correctly T U N E S.
- 15:58I Hate Talking: Uh there's uh For breeze, uh, it is not breeze like the wind.
- 16:07I Hate Talking: It's actually only has one E, so it has a single E.
- 16:10I Hate Talking: There's Oscar Mayer, which actually has an A, so that's uh M A Y E R.
- 16:16I Hate Talking: A lot of people remember E, sort of like the Bernstein, Bernstein.
- 16:19I Hate Talking: Um, fruit loops, uh, again, is, uh, the, uh, fruit is actually spelled with a double O, like the loops.
- 16:33I Hate Talking: Um, so again, a lot of people just consider the, the correct spelling fruit.
- 16:38I Hate Talking: OK, this one I got right, which shows my priorities.
- 16:42I Hate Talking: How would you draw the target logo?
- 16:45I Hate Talking: So I would draw it with one red outer circle, a white inner circle, and a red dot.
- 16:52I Hate Talking: OK, that's, yes, me too.
- 16:55I Hate Talking: And I just confirmed from my target circle app, and that's what it is.
- 16:59I Hate Talking: I guess most people put a middle circle in there.
- 17:04I Hate Talking: No, no, no.
- 17:06I Hate Talking: Yeah.
- 17:06I Hate Talking: Um, Flintstones having two T's, so Flint and stones, uh, a lot of people just refer to it as Flintstones.
- 17:16I Hate Talking: Um, so a lot of these I think are just Not uh clear pronunciation or they're actually using improper spelling when it's supposed to be properly spelled or they're using proper spelling when it should be improperly spelled.
- 17:29I Hate Talking: So a lot of Mandela effects in that category of just swapping letters or not remembering words specifically and those I do think fall more in the category of just, uh, either.
- 17:41I Hate Talking: misremembering or uh just not being accurate, uh or even mishearing or misreading what is uh there in front of the person.
- 17:53I Hate Talking: OK, maybe you've seen this one.
- 17:55I Hate Talking: What is Waldo and where's Waldo?
- 17:57I Hate Talking: Is he carrying anything and if he is, what is he carrying?
- 18:02I Hate Talking: Well, there were certain Where's Waldo books that you had to find something that he had lost, and I think I do seem to recall that in some of those that he was maybe carrying an item.
- 18:14I Hate Talking: Um, But as the standard.
- 18:19I Hate Talking: Where's Waldo character?
- 18:22I Hate Talking: Um, I can picture him with like his hands on his hips and maybe carrying a cane or a briefcase.
- 18:28I Hate Talking: Doesn't your sister have all these books?
- 18:31I Hate Talking: Like she collects them, right, or used to?
- 18:33I Hate Talking: We should ask her sometime.
- 18:35I Hate Talking: I believe she does have the copies of all those.
- 18:37I Hate Talking: -- So -- what's the answer on that one?
- 18:40I Hate Talking: So, it looks like I can't find that.
- 18:43I Hate Talking: Um, official answer, but it looks like most people agree that it's a cane.
- 18:51I Hate Talking: He's walking with a cane.
- 18:53I Hate Talking: A lot of people think he's not carrying anything or he's carrying a striped umbrella.
- 18:59I Hate Talking: R is another popular option.
- 19:02I Hate Talking: Also, his name is actually not Waldo.
- 19:06I Hate Talking: Do you know that?
- 19:07I Hate Talking: So I did picture him carrying a cane in some of the uh images that I conjured up in my mind.
- 19:14I Hate Talking: Uh.
- 19:15I Hate Talking: And I'm not sure that I knew that his name was not Waldo.
- 19:22I Hate Talking: Now, in our American versions, it does say Waldo, so you can't blame us Americans for that.
- 19:29I Hate Talking: But where the books were actually created, his name was, Where's Wally.
- 19:35I Hate Talking: And then when it was translated, American and Canadian releases say Waldo.
- 19:41I Hate Talking: Well, I am an American, so I think I got that one right then.
- 19:46I Hate Talking: Yeah, I can't blame us for that one.
- 19:47I Hate Talking: Also, we used to have a dog named Waldo in our early years of marriage.
- 19:52I Hate Talking: He was an old rescue and passed away since.
- 19:56I Hate Talking: Uh, we got a lot of kicks and a lot of jokes out of people calling for where's Waldo.
- 20:02I Hate Talking: There's a sweet pop.
- 20:03I Hate Talking: There you have it.
- 20:05I Hate Talking: All right, so perhaps just a few more.
- 20:09I Hate Talking: Uh, this one again is just a spelling thing, but what are the brand of pizza rolls?
- 20:18I Hate Talking: Bagel bites?
- 20:20I Hate Talking: No.
- 20:21I Hate Talking: -- Pizza pizza -- rolls.
- 20:23I Hate Talking: Yeah, who makes them?
- 20:24I Hate Talking: It starts with the letter T.
- 20:25I Hate Talking: Oh, to Tito, Totino's.
- 20:28I Hate Talking: OK, well, then there you go.
- 20:30I Hate Talking: You got that one right.
- 20:31I Hate Talking: Yeah, this shows my priorities, junk food in Target.
- 20:34I Hate Talking: Totino's, yes, so a lot of people will say toastinos with an S after the O T O S T I N O.
- 20:41I Hate Talking: I love my junk food, my Diet Coke, my Target.
- 20:44I Hate Talking: We've already established all this on this podcast.
- 20:47I Hate Talking: Here you go.
- 20:49I Hate Talking: Another one that is uh a frequent debate is the movie.
- 20:54I Hate Talking: Shazam.
- 20:57I Hate Talking: So have you ever heard of the movie Shazam?
- 20:59I Hate Talking: Oh.
- 21:00I Hate Talking: I feel like I've heard it referenced.
- 21:03I Hate Talking: I don't know it.
- 21:04I Hate Talking: And I actually don't know this one either.
- 21:06I Hate Talking: Apparently it's like a movie, basketball movie that had Shaq in it supposedly, um, but the, uh, the movie never existed, uh, so the, no, -- never the good -- thing I was like, oh yeah, I watch that all the time.
- 21:19I Hate Talking: Well, I'm honest at least too, see.
- 21:22I Hate Talking: So there was never a movie with Shaq in it.
- 21:25I Hate Talking: There was a movie with Shaq in it, but it was not Shazam and I don't believe it was even necessarily like basketball as the main plot.
- 21:33I Hate Talking: Weird, OK.
- 21:34I Hate Talking: OK.
- 21:36I Hate Talking: What is Mr.
- 21:38I Hate Talking: Rogers theme song?
- 21:40I Hate Talking: A lot of people would say that it's a very nice day in the neighborhood, but that wouldn't be Mr.
- 21:47I Hate Talking: Rogers' neighborhood because Mr.
- 21:49I Hate Talking: Rogers actually said.
- 21:50I Hate Talking: It's a very beautiful day in this neighborhood.
- 21:54I Hate Talking: Mhm.
- 21:55I Hate Talking: Crazy.
- 21:55I Hate Talking: So, we've already discussed some of the Perhaps History and sources of these Mandela effects, uh, which not to be confused with Mandala effect, uh, which is a whole another thing that people get confused and I think that is partly the reason is that people are swapping out letters or swapping out things that they've seen that are similar where the spelling is either correct or incorrect specifically for those logos.
- 22:31I Hate Talking: And even where there's some overlap with those logos where perhaps they're adding the the Y ending to Jiffy because there is a peanut butter brand called Skippy that does end in the letter Y.
- 22:43I Hate Talking: so there are uh some frequent overlaps and just misremembering the accuracy of spelling and words and to some degree even uh pictures with regards to some of the things that we've been talking about with the fruit of the Loom logo.
- 22:59I Hate Talking: And other things as well.
- 23:01I Hate Talking: So there are, like I said, on the fringe side of things, some that believe that this is a supporting evidence of the simulation theory where we're just living in a simulation and the code gets changed and uh does not get completely updated so we have some false memories but they're not really false memories because it it exists in the past when we experienced it and uh that there's some things where um that uh.
- 23:32I Hate Talking: This also uh goes back to the uh black cat in the Matrix movie where it appears twice and that's sort of that deja vu feeling, uh, that is sort of related to the Mandela effect.
- 23:47I Hate Talking: Uh, there's also just the power of suggestion.
- 23:50I Hate Talking: So, uh, in addition to me personally holding to the theory that it's just people misremembering or just, uh, putting things in the wrong place and then those errors are.
- 24:02I Hate Talking: Uh, cascaded down to other people and across other media platforms, uh, that some of these things could be intentional just as sort of a social experiment to see how far the human mind can be tricked into believing something that's not real.
- 24:22I Hate Talking: So you think Jiffy intentionally wants us to forget their Label No, I don't think it would behoove the company Jeff to be doing that when I said their company name.
- 24:39I Hate Talking: Indeed you did.
- 24:41I Hate Talking: So, and I don't think Skippy would have any reason to do that either.
- 24:46I Hate Talking: But because we're sort of taking from Skippy then.
- 24:51I Hate Talking: I guess Jeff may have uh a reason to do that and I think that reminds me of another Mandela effect, uh because of the uh.
- 25:02I Hate Talking: Character on the skippy jar, which can you picture what that is?
- 25:07I Hate Talking: The character on the skippy?
- 25:10I Hate Talking: Oh, I can picture the GIF with like the.
- 25:13I Hate Talking: Mm I can't even picture it at all.
- 25:17I Hate Talking: They don't sell it at our Costco, so I don't buy it.
- 25:21I Hate Talking: Well, I seem to remember that they at one point had a.
- 25:27I Hate Talking: Like a fairy figure.
- 25:29I Hate Talking: On the jar of skippy.
- 25:33I Hate Talking: And I'm not finding anything immediately with their current labels.
- 25:41I Hate Talking: Um, so maybe I have a Mandela effect of my own with, uh, -- are you -- thinking of there's a Peter Pan peanut butter?
- 25:49I Hate Talking: I see, there we go.
- 25:51I Hate Talking: So maybe I'm thinking of Peter Pan and then does that have Tinker Bell on it?
- 25:54I Hate Talking: I don't know, but that was really fancy peanut butter I remember.
- 25:58I Hate Talking: Yes, that does not have Tinker Bell on it, but it does have Peter Pan on it.
- 26:04I Hate Talking: There you go.
- 26:04I Hate Talking: Maybe you're confusing both of them then.
- 26:06I Hate Talking: Well, there you go.
- 26:07I Hate Talking: One thing that we can take away from this episode is that there is a lot of overlap in peanut butter.
- 26:13I Hate Talking: -- and -- labeling and the Peter Pan Na, their designs are both extremely similar.
- 26:21I Hate Talking: Their coloring and their designs.
- 26:23I Hate Talking: So, maybe that's where you're getting confused.
- 26:26I Hate Talking: It could be.
- 26:28I Hate Talking: So the reason that I brought that up is that most people in the intro to Disney with the castle, remember Tinkerbell.
- 26:36I Hate Talking: Going to the top of the castle and hitting it with her wand.
- 26:41I Hate Talking: Yes.
- 26:43I Hate Talking: That does not exist.
- 26:46I Hate Talking: What does she do?
- 26:48I Hate Talking: She is not present in the intro at all.
- 26:50I Hate Talking: -- Yes -- she is.
- 26:51I Hate Talking: No, that is a Mandela effect.
- 26:53I Hate Talking: But sometimes she is.
- 26:56I Hate Talking: Right.
- 26:57I Hate Talking: I don't know.
- 26:59I Hate Talking: I don't wanna give this one up.
- 27:01I Hate Talking: I feel like I should fight for this one, and for for Tinker I should fight for Tinkerbell.
- 27:06I Hate Talking: So we just watched the classic old Walt Disney castle intro and it does not have any Tinkerbell and even when you searched it, you saw sort of an image that looked vaguely familiar with the castle and an overlaid image of Tinker Bell, and it has the little caption there, never happened.
- 27:27I Hate Talking: I wanna fight for it, because I'm sure it did.
- 27:31I Hate Talking: Yep, and uh again, don't really see a lot of research that indicates where this came from, um.
- 27:40I Hate Talking: There's uh Again, a lot of people that remember uh Tinker Bell either.
- 27:47I Hate Talking: Dotting the I in Disney or at least flying around, yes, um, but, uh, according to that, uh, it's never happened and, uh, that, uh, there are no movies at all, uh, not even Peter Pan or anything that have that as a, uh, intro.
- 28:11I Hate Talking: Um, it was just the standard castle intro and uh never had Tinker Bell.
- 28:17I Hate Talking: OK, this really bothers me, but um I'll keep trying to figure out where this thought comes from, but other than that, I'm gonna have to In seed.
- 28:28I Hate Talking: So we did some again offline research and uh there is a scene from the wonderful world of Disney where uh there's a variety of uh logos and intros and there is one that does feature Tinker Bell, uh, so it does, uh, not in any way, uh, match the blue background with the white castle on the arch.
- 28:52I Hate Talking: Um, but there is a very 3D and colorful intro where Tinker Bell does come in and, uh, basically set off some fireworks.
- 29:03I Hate Talking: So, uh, the, the supposed theory on this one is that, uh, people are just misremembering and again overlapping, uh, these different, uh, memories that they have.
- 29:14I Hate Talking: I guess.
- 29:15I Hate Talking: The thing that I was referring to.
- 29:16I Hate Talking: When we're talking about the source of some of these things is that again, this might be a social experiment, uh, not conducted by Jeff or Skippy per se, uh, as powerful as a company as Disney is, maybe they do have some input into this, but I'm more referring to the powers that be, uh, that are determining how far they can push the envelope with what people believe and remember uh without documented.
- 29:45I Hate Talking: Backings of what they are.
- 29:49I Hate Talking: causing these people to think actually happened.
- 29:52I Hate Talking: Well, so you're even thinking about like history books.
- 29:57I Hate Talking: Or um.
- 30:00I Hate Talking: You mentioned before about like AI, right?
- 30:03I Hate Talking: Like, how that can change what we see and what we believe now.
- 30:08I Hate Talking: Exactly, there's even some reports on uh AI.
- 30:13I Hate Talking: Being asked questions about the Donald Trump assassination and responding that it can't tell the person about that because the Donald Trump assassination.
- 30:24I Hate Talking: Never happened.
- 30:27I Hate Talking: Well, technically, it didn't ever happen.
- 30:29I Hate Talking: It was the attempted assassination.
- 30:32I Hate Talking: And that could be either a deficiency in the AI, not understanding that an assassination attempt and an assassination are in the vernacular being what's referred to because obviously if we say Trump assassination, we know that what we're talking about uh as human beings.
- 30:49I Hate Talking: And uh or it could be something more sinister in terms of the AI being purposely driven to uh not respond about what actually happened.
- 31:01I Hate Talking: I just picture you as an old man sitting in your rocker, having your grandkids come sit on your lap and trying to ask them what they're learning about the Trump assassination.
- 31:12I Hate Talking: And when they like, are confused, you're like, let me tell you.
- 31:16I Hate Talking: And then you can pull off Podcasts about it and explain to them what the Trump attempted assassination really was.
- 31:24I Hate Talking: Exactly.
- 31:26I Hate Talking: So I think uh one of the things that can help combat Mandela FX is being open to the idea that we don't have a precise memory of past events and things, and we do need to rely on documentation and actual things that are recorded.
- 31:47I Hate Talking: Uh, and again, the importance of that is in terms of making sure that we know history and understand history and, uh, understand the current events that we find ourselves in.
- 32:00I Hate Talking: So as we wrap up this episode, one other thing to share is a quote from the book 1984.
- 32:08I Hate Talking: Which says the past he reflected, had not merely been altered it had been actually destroyed, for how could you establish even the most obvious fact when there existed no record outside of your own memory.
- 32:21I Hate Talking: So, can I please keep thinking that Tinker Bell lives there, because maybe they altered it and screwed up my childhood.
- 32:30I Hate Talking: That's a very real possibility.
- 32:33I Hate Talking: Because that's something I know we need to get going.
- 32:35I Hate Talking: It's been a long episode, but Sometimes this could be hurtful, right?
- 32:40I Hate Talking: Like, something that you thought was true.
- 32:42I Hate Talking: And it's not There's a whole bunch of implications that can go with that.
- 32:49I Hate Talking: That's true.
- 32:51I Hate Talking: So if you've enjoyed this episode or have enjoyed previous episodes, feel free to share that, like it, comment on it.
- 32:58I Hate Talking: Perhaps let us know if we've rocked your world with any of these Mandela effects that we've listed, or perhaps there's one that, uh, that you've already been aware of that we didn't get to, and uh maybe we can revisit that in a future episode.
- 33:12I Hate Talking: Yeah, sounds great.
- 33:14I Hate Talking: So, from your friends at I hate Talking, until next time, remember, it is only through talking that we begin the journey to understanding.
