- 0:00Speaker 1: We are going to talk a little bit more about
- 0:01Speaker 1: Territory Day and find out exactly what is going on
- 0:05Speaker 1: for Territory Day and joining me on the line right now,
- 0:09Speaker 1: NT Major Events Head of Events and Operations, Korin, Honey,
- 0:13Speaker 1: good morning to you. Let me just try that again, Korin,
- 0:18Speaker 1: good morning to you.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Good morning Katie. How are you?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah, very well, just having some technical issues in here
- 0:25Speaker 1: that are all based on me not pressing the right buttons.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Kor And I know that there is a lot going
- 0:31Speaker 1: on obviously for Territory Day. What can we expect? What
- 0:34Speaker 1: are the headline events happening tomorrow?
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it kicks off from four o'clock down at Mindle
- 0:40Speaker 2: Obviously Titum with the Middle Beach Stunset Markets is always fabulous.
- 0:45Speaker 2: But she's certainly it's a decent old harv over an
- 0:48Speaker 2: evening of entertainment, that's for sure. So lots of local
- 0:52Speaker 2: content performing, So Draft Day, Katie Baker, Coulie James. It
- 0:56Speaker 2: was just obviously are you a nominated producer? So one
- 1:00Speaker 2: some menty music awards kept off. I suppose I'm rounded
- 1:03Speaker 2: out by Australian supergroup ARC, Australian rock collective. So we'll
- 1:08Speaker 2: be performing some absolute all time favorites. We won't get
- 1:11Speaker 2: up and have a bit of a bookie too, and
- 1:13Speaker 2: the singalong and obviously rounded out with the old pyrotechnic
- 1:16Speaker 2: display out in out in the front of Mindle Beach
- 1:18Speaker 2: there for make fifteen. She's an extravaganza, that's for sure.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Oh, it certainly will be. It is going to be massive.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And that pyrotechnic display that we see on Territory Day
- 1:30Speaker 1: it is always absolutely unbelievable, Koran. Do we know how
- 1:36Speaker 1: many ton of fireworks we're talking this year or just
- 1:39Speaker 1: how many are going to go off?
- 1:42Speaker 2: No, I don't, but it's a good fifteen minutes worth,
- 1:44Speaker 2: So strap you out then get yourself a blank. She's
- 1:47Speaker 2: a bit chilly out there at the moment, but she'll
- 1:49Speaker 2: be all lying out there for we run to see,
- 1:51Speaker 2: that's for.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Sure, it really will. And is there much going on
- 1:54Speaker 1: like in other parts of the territory as well, I
- 1:56Speaker 1: know at different times in Alice and some of the
- 1:58Speaker 1: other locations they've been events to.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, right across the territories. So you've got nineteen events
- 2:03Speaker 2: taking place throughout you know, and that ranges from New
- 2:06Speaker 2: Indomu communities right through to Alice Catherine Tennant. So Alice
- 2:11Speaker 2: is the same things that we're partnered with the show
- 2:12Speaker 2: this year. It's in conjunction with the other Springs show
- 2:14Speaker 2: at Black the Sky and full line up there too,
- 2:17Speaker 2: so ban Chunky Custard through there and that runs from
- 2:20Speaker 2: five eight thirty. But it's yeah, it's a it's a
- 2:23Speaker 2: big gig. It's a big gig, there's no doubt about it,
- 2:25Speaker 2: and as it should be. You know, it's a chance
- 2:27Speaker 2: for us to celebrate this wonderful place we live in
- 2:30Speaker 2: and everyone get together and having I've got old bonds
- 2:33Speaker 2: of time.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be wonderful. Koren. Down there at Mendel, are
- 2:37Speaker 1: people able to still have their own personal fireworks or
- 2:40Speaker 1: is it a situation where you sort of can't let
- 2:42Speaker 1: them off if you're at that public event.
- 2:46Speaker 2: There's an exclusion going down there, Katie. So obviously at
- 2:49Speaker 2: the front of mindle that's all regulated and let's be
- 2:51Speaker 2: fear the fair old, fair old piece going on out
- 2:55Speaker 2: the front of there. So there is the zones down
- 2:57Speaker 2: each end of the beach that you can take your
- 2:59Speaker 2: personal but you know, if so, do it safely, you know.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But that's how it operates.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's fair enough. I mean, when you've
- 3:06Speaker 1: got families there to see the wonderful event that is
- 3:10Speaker 1: being put on for Territory Day, the last thing you
- 3:12Speaker 1: want is somebody to let off a firework close to
- 3:15Speaker 1: in our group of children or something like that and
- 3:17Speaker 1: somebody to get hurt.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Absolutely want people to come, enjoy themselves, have a good,
- 3:22Speaker 2: good time, get there safely and get home safely. That's
- 3:24Speaker 2: what it's all about.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Current. How much organization goes into a daylight this, particularly
- 3:30Speaker 1: when there's nineteen events happening right around the territory.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a fear, but we're fortunate tooka that we've
- 3:37Speaker 2: We've got some fantastic partners and communities and organizations that
- 3:40Speaker 2: we work with, so you know, and you know it's
- 3:43Speaker 2: been around for a while now, everyone's getting pretty good
- 3:45Speaker 2: at it. So, yes, there's a fear, chunk of work
- 3:47Speaker 2: on it, but it certainly wouldn't happen and couldn't happen
- 3:50Speaker 2: without the fantastic support from our partners, their volunteers, other
- 3:53Speaker 2: community organizations, councils. There's lots of people involved, that's for sure.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Well, Karen, do you guys get to have a rest
- 4:00Speaker 1: after Territory Day. I know it's been a busy old
- 4:03Speaker 1: time for everybody at NTA major events.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll take a breather for a few days and
- 4:07Speaker 2: then we're back into it for ridging and ap and
- 4:09Speaker 2: now from second to fourth to September, so you know,
- 4:13Speaker 2: another another amazing event that we're really looking forward to
- 4:16Speaker 2: as well. So it's a bit of a shame when
- 4:17Speaker 2: it all wraps up, to be honest, and we get
- 4:19Speaker 2: a couple of months to reset, but we'll go again,
- 4:22Speaker 2: no one, We'll just keep knocking them.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Out, wonderful stuff. The busiest crew I reckon in TEA
- 4:27Speaker 1: major events, always so much going on, and you indeed
- 4:31Speaker 1: head up the events and operations Korin, Honey, we really
- 4:34Speaker 1: appreciate your time today.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Go on you, thank you, thank you,
