- 0:00And he happened to be coming out of the bedroom.
- 0:04He came upstairs and he heard, because he heard footsteps and
- 0:07nobody was here. They went back downstairs.
- 0:11And when he went down, he happened to look and he seen
- 0:14this black. He describes it as something
- 0:16that wasn't or how did he say it?
- 0:19I said, I don't even know where you came up with that word.
- 0:21Organically, natural. And then he said it flashed, and
- 0:25then it went away. While trying to recover from
- 0:28multiple surgeries over nearly a decade, a woman and her family
- 0:33are tormented by dark entities that invade their home seemingly
- 0:39out of nowhere. After asking multiple paranormal
- 0:42investigators and a priest to help her clear her dwelling of
- 0:47these unexplained and terrifying entities, will she and her
- 0:53family be freed or will they continue to be prisoners in
- 0:58their own home? This is the untold story of the
- 1:02Rarick family haunting in Pennsylvania, and it truly is a
- 1:07terrifying haunting indeed. So grab a drink or a snack or
- 1:14both and prepare to get scared. And I wouldn't recommend
- 1:19watching or listening to this in the dark, unless you like a
- 1:25challenge. The house at the edge of the
- 1:31forest that stood for decades, its weathered facade blending
- 1:36seamlessly with the quiet town of Montandon.
- 1:42From the outside it seemed no different from any other home, a
- 1:48modest structure with a well kept yard and windows that
- 1:53reflected the golden hues of dusk.
- 1:55But those who passed by in the dead of nine often swore that
- 2:01they felt something watching them.
- 2:04The air around the property seemed heavier, colder, as if
- 2:09the house itself held secrets it refused to share.
- 2:15For the Roric family, it was a dream come true, a step up from
- 2:21the cramped mobile home where they had spent years scraping
- 2:25by. Todd and Jacinda Rarick had
- 2:29worked tirelessly to make it theirs, pouring love and labor
- 2:34into every corner, but no amount of paint or Polish could erase
- 2:40the sense of unease that seemed to linger just beneath the
- 2:44surface. It was subtle at first, the way
- 2:49the shadows in the hallway stretched longer than they
- 2:52should, or how certain rooms always felt a few degrees
- 2:56colder, no matter the season. By the time they realized that
- 3:02their sanctuary had become a prison, it was too late.
- 3:07This is not a story of flickering lights or misplaced
- 3:11keys. It is a story of something
- 3:14older, darker, and far more insidious.
- 3:20A force that thrived on fear and despair, eating on the cracks of
- 3:25the Roric's lives until it threatened to consume them
- 3:29entirely. The events that unfolded within
- 3:33those walls would forever mark them, leaving scars at no amount
- 3:39of time could fully heal. And to think it all began with
- 3:45one small light. The small town of Montandon in
- 3:51the heart of Pennsylvania, a place where life ambled quietly
- 3:57through the sunlit afternoons and starry nights.
- 4:02The Rargh family, Jacinda and her husband Todd, and their 20
- 4:08year old son Justin had called it home for nearly 14 years.
- 4:14Their modest 3 bedroom house was tucked at the edge of a forest,
- 4:19a place where shadows seem to linger just a little bit too
- 4:23long. Montandem was the kind of place
- 4:27where everyone knew each other, the tight knit community bound
- 4:32by shared traditions and familiarity.
- 4:37The grocery clerk knew which brand of coffee you liked before
- 4:40you asked, and neighbors always waved from their porches.
- 4:46It was a place that felt safe, ordinary even, which made the
- 4:51events that unfolded within the Rawrick household all the more
- 4:55chilling. Jacinda was in recovery from
- 4:59major back surgery, the aftermath of years of hard work
- 5:04and determination catching up to her body.
- 5:08The procedure had been grueling, meant to repair herniated discs,
- 5:14but it left her with more pain than relief.
- 5:18Her days were now filled with a restless idleness, an unfamiliar
- 5:23state for someone so used to motion.
- 5:27She spent much of her time in the living room, gazing out at
- 5:31the trees that bordered their yard, their leaves whispering
- 5:36the secrets in the breeze. Her husband, Todd, a repairman
- 5:42at a local brewery, had taken on the dual role of caregiver and
- 5:47provider, his demeanor oscillating between steadfast
- 5:52support and quiet exhaustion. Todd was a practical man, his
- 5:59faith rooted in what he could see and fix with his hands.
- 6:02He tried to assure Jacinda with humor and routine, though he
- 6:08could see the toll her recovery was taking on her spirit.
- 6:12Justin, fresh from high school and nursing a shoulder injury
- 6:16from a summer mishap, found himself housebound as well.
- 6:20The injury had sidelined his plans to work full time at the
- 6:24local hardware store, leaving him with hours to fill and a
- 6:29growing sense of frustration. He spent his days flipping
- 6:33through old magazines, scrolling aimlessly on his phone and
- 6:38helping his mother as much as his limited mobility allowed.
- 6:42The first sign came in the form of light.
- 6:45Jacinda, leafing through photographs of Justin's
- 6:48graduation, noticed something peculiar.
- 6:53Small, luminous orbs scattered the images.
- 6:58Some glowed a soft white, others a spectral purple.
- 7:04They hovered in the corners, barely visible, yet
- 7:08unmistakingly present. At first, she thought it was a
- 7:13trick of light, but as she flipped through more photos, the
- 7:18pattern persisted. Jacinta's heart leapt at the
- 7:22thought that these could be her parents, long gone but never
- 7:27forgotten. Their presence, if real, was a
- 7:32comfort, a balm against the isolating monotony for recovery.
- 7:39Look at this, Todd, she said one morning, holding a photograph up
- 7:42to the light. These orbs, they're in every
- 7:47picture. Don't you think it's strange?
- 7:51Todd glanced over, his expression a mix of amusement
- 7:56and exasperation. Camera flares.
- 8:00He said, brushing it off. You're overthinking it.
- 8:04He kissed her on the forehead and then left for work, leaving
- 8:09Jacinda alone with her thoughts. But Jacinda couldn't let it go.
- 8:15She began documenting the orbs, obsessively, taking picture
- 8:20after picture, each new snapshot only deepening her conviction.
- 8:26The orbs appeared in the kitchen, the hallway, even her
- 8:30bedroom. Some seem to shimmer with a
- 8:33faint inner light, their edges blurring like tiny stars caught
- 8:38on film. As the days turned into weeks,
- 8:43the orbs became more active. Jacinda began noticing subtle
- 8:48movements within the shimmering lights.
- 8:51They seemed to drift closer when she was alone, as if trying to
- 8:56communicate something just beyond the edge of her
- 8:59perception. Occasionally, she would hear
- 9:03faint whispers accompanying their presence, indecipherable
- 9:08but undeniably there. The whispers became louder over
- 9:12time, escalating into fragmented phrases that would flit away
- 9:19just as she tried to focus on them.
- 9:22But the house held more than just playful flickers of light.
- 9:26There was a wait in the air, a suffocating heaviness that
- 9:31seemed to press down on her chest.
- 9:34She felt it most acutely within the quiet hours of the night,
- 9:39when the world outside fell silent and the shadows within
- 9:44seemed to grow restless. The sound of creaking
- 9:48floorboards, faint knocking at odd hours, and sudden cold
- 9:54drafts became a nightly occurrence.
- 9:58The temperature would drop dramatically in certain rooms,
- 10:02and the family's pets, a loyal dog and two skittish cats, would
- 10:09refuse to enter those spaces. One evening, while Justin lay in
- 10:14the living room, he heard it. The distinct sound of footsteps
- 10:19above him, heavy and deliberate. They moved across the ceiling,
- 10:27each step a dagger of dread stabbing into his mind.
- 10:33His parents weren't home, and the house should have been
- 10:37silent. Mom, Dad, he called out, his
- 10:42voice trembling. There.
- 10:44Was no response. When he mustered the courage to
- 10:49investigate, he found nothing. The doors were locked, the
- 10:56lights off. Yet the sense of unease
- 11:00lingered, settling deep into his bones.
- 11:04I heard footsteps, he told his mother the next morning.
- 11:08Someone was in the house. Jacinda's eyes widened.
- 11:14It's the. Shadow, she whispered.
- 11:17I've seen it, too. Justin's skepticism melted into
- 11:21fear. He dismissed his mother's tales
- 11:24of orbs and presences, chalking them up to the side effects of
- 11:29medication or the imagination of a mind left idle for too long.
- 11:35But now the reality of her words clawed at him.
- 11:39The sightings grew bolder. A pool table in the basement,
- 11:44untouched for weeks, suddenly erupted into sound.
- 11:49A sharp crack of billiard balls breaking echoed throughout the
- 11:53house. When Justin went to investigate,
- 11:57he saw the balls scattered, as if a game had been interrupted
- 12:02mid play. Then there was the shadow, a
- 12:06dark, formless silhouette that loomed in the corner of his
- 12:11vision, its presence oppressive and consuming.
- 12:17Though it had no discernible features.
- 12:20He felt it staring into him, peeling back the layers of his
- 12:25mind to expose his deepest fears.
- 12:29The. Entity then began to rush at
- 12:32him, but before another scream could erupt from his mouth,
- 12:37almost as if in the blink of an eye, it vanished.
- 12:42Room, his bedroom was off to the side.
- 12:45We had a pool table down there in the bar.
- 12:47So like we hung out there all the time, like that's where we
- 12:50live. And he happened to be coming out
- 12:53of the bedroom. He came upstairs and he heard,
- 12:57because he heard footsteps and nobody was here.
- 13:00They went back downstairs and he heard the footsteps again.
- 13:04So he came back up and then he heard the pool table balls break
- 13:07downstairs. And when he went down, he
- 13:09happened to look and he's seen this black.
- 13:12He describes it as something that wasn't or how did he say
- 13:16it? I said, I don't even know where
- 13:18you came up with that word organically natural.
- 13:20And then he said it flashed and then it went away.
- 13:23And then he finally came to me. At that time, he had graduated
- 13:26from high school and he was working at a local hardware
- 13:29store. And he had came to me like, mom,
- 13:32I finally believe you. And I was just like, so happy
- 13:35that somebody was finally, you know, on the same page with me.
- 13:40Jacinda's paintings. Once, her escape began to betray
- 13:45her. One night, as she gazed at a
- 13:49completed peace, she saw the color shifting, melting as if
- 13:56consumed by an unseen force. The patterns twisted
- 14:02unnaturally, forming faces and eyes as seemed to watch her with
- 14:08malevolence. A sharp pain lanced through her
- 14:12head and she collapsed, gasping for air.
- 14:17Along with these more intense manifestations of something
- 14:21evil, the family, along with terrible sleep within the home
- 14:27due to almost constant feelings of anxiety, began to experience
- 14:32something else. As well lapses.
- 14:35In time in one instance, Lucinda had been laying in bed 1 moment
- 14:43and almost as if waking up from a dream, she found herself at
- 14:48the. Top of the stairs ready to step.
- 14:52And descend into the basement a move.
- 14:55That if it. Had gone wrong, would have led
- 14:58to even more. Catastrophic.
- 15:00Pain and injury given her state of health.
- 15:06One night, Jacinda finally broke.
- 15:09It's the house, she sobbed to Todd.
- 15:13It's trying to. Kill us.
- 15:16Todd's patience wore thin. You're.
- 15:19Stressed, he said. His voice.
- 15:22Laced with frustration. You're.
- 15:24Recovering from surgery and you're letting your mind run
- 15:28wild. But even he couldn't ignore the
- 15:31signs forever. One night, during a rare family
- 15:36dinner, Todd clutched. His chest.
- 15:39His face contorting in pain, his skin turned ashen, his breaths
- 15:46shallow. And.
- 15:47Labored, they rushed. Him to the emergency room, but
- 15:52the tests would reveal nothing. Yet Todd's near collapse left an
- 15:57indelible mark on the family, a lingering sense that the house
- 16:03was exacting its toll on each of them.
- 16:07Desperate for answers, Jacinda reached out to the Central
- 16:12Pennsylvania Paranormal Research Association A-Team led by two
- 16:18sidekicks named Christine and Liz.
- 16:22After speaking with them, they would soon arrive.
- 16:25At the house. Upon stepping inside,
- 16:29Christine's face would darken. There's a presence here, she
- 16:34said. It's ancient and it's angry.
- 16:39Prior to arriving at the home, the team's investigation had
- 16:43unearthed a chilling history. It was their belief.
- 16:48Alongside their research as centuries ago.
- 16:53A group of. Eastern European travelers had
- 16:56camped on the property, performing rituals that had
- 17:00opened a gateway to something. Dark the.
- 17:05Presence that now haunted the Rourke family was no benign
- 17:09spirit but a demonic Force, One that was drawn to the house by
- 17:15the vulnerabilities its inhabitants.
- 17:19It's attached itself. To you, Christine told Jacinda.
- 17:23Your illness made you an easy target, and now it's feeding on
- 17:28your family's fear and pain. In an attempt to free the
- 17:33family, the team would conduct a cleansing of the home.
- 17:38As they got underway, their prayers began to fill the house
- 17:42with light and sound. But as this?
- 17:46Happened. The air seemed to.
- 17:48Shiver as the. Entity began to fight back its.
- 17:53Rage. Palpable shadows.
- 17:57Thickened and writhed, taking on grotesque shapes that lunged at
- 18:01the investigators before dissolving into nothingness.
- 18:07The furniture creaked ominously, and objects flew from shelves
- 18:13with a violent force towards the tail end of the cleansing
- 18:17ritual. A deafening silence fell over
- 18:21the room like that of snow falling within a forest.
- 18:27The entity then let out one last burst of furious energy.
- 18:32This burst shook the house. To its foundation with windows
- 18:36and doors shuttering and its vibration following this.
- 18:41Display of power, however. A calm descended.
- 18:46The oppressive. Weight seemed.
- 18:47To be lifted. The shadows receded.
- 18:52And for the first time in months.
- 18:54The house felt. Like a home again in the
- 18:57aftermath, the Raricks began to heal, their bonds stronger for
- 19:03having faced the darkness together.
- 19:06Todd, once skeptical, now spoke with quiet reverence.
- 19:11Of the ordeal. There are things we don't
- 19:14understand, he admitted. But that doesn't mean that they
- 19:18aren't. Real Jacinda, though still
- 19:23scarred by the experience, found solace in the belief that her
- 19:28parents had been watching over her all along, their love the
- 19:33shield against the malevolent force that had invaded their
- 19:37lives. As she stood at the edge of the
- 19:41forest one evening, gazing up at the stars, she whispered a quiet
- 19:47thank you to the spirits that she hoped were still near and in
- 19:53the silence that followed. She.
- 19:56Felt an embrace, a warm and reassuring one, like the arms of
- 20:03a mother and father who would always protect their child.
- 20:09Months later, life in the Roric household had found a semblance
- 20:14of normalcy. The memories of their harrowing
- 20:18experience lingered, but so did a renewed sense of gratitude and
- 20:24strength. Their story remained a
- 20:27cautionary tale in the community, whispered over cups
- 20:31of coffee and told in hushed tones by neighbors or the
- 20:37Rorics. It was a reminder of the thin
- 20:41veil that separates the scene from the unseen.
- 20:47Though they thought it was the end of their ordeal, it was
- 20:51unfortunately not the case for them.
- 20:54The months following the cleansing seemed to just be a
- 20:57respite from the chaos, for it would resume with horrendous
- 21:02vigor, and it seemed to further pursue Jacinda, perhaps
- 21:08believing her to be the weakest link of the family due to her
- 21:12health. The family tried cleansings from
- 21:15priests, from paranormal groups, but nothing seemed to work.
- 21:22Jacinda, through reaching out for help, would hear from a
- 21:26psychic that it wasn't just one entity that haunted her and her
- 21:30family. That it was multiple, 4 to be
- 21:34exact. That these entities were indeed
- 21:38ancient. That they were demons.
- 21:42Demons who had been summoned through various rituals many
- 21:47moons ago and that haunted the land itself, but had attached
- 21:52themselves to her due to her vulnerable state, feeding off of
- 21:57her fear, anxiety, and ultimately her life force.
- 22:04This was almost identical to the theory the Central Pennsylvania
- 22:09Paranormal Research Association team had as well.
- 22:13More strange and scary manifestations would take place
- 22:17over the years. All the trees and vegetation
- 22:21surrounding the home would die. Distortions and time would
- 22:26continue to take place. Their nightmares would bleed
- 22:31over into day mirrors as the shadows would contort and twist,
- 22:37morphing into non organic monstrosities before their very
- 22:42eyes before then dissipating into nothing.
- 22:48What makes this all the more disturbing is that through my
- 22:52research on this case, I believe the family still lives there and
- 22:57continues to deal with these dark and horrendous entities.
- 23:02The last interview I could find with Jacinda was with the Grave
- 23:07Talks Podcast, which I'll link below and that was posted in
- 23:112019. It's also where the beginning
- 23:15audio segment came from. It really is a fascinating
- 23:19interview and I highly recommend that you go check it out.
- 23:23And I would also like to thank Tony from Real Ghost Stories
- 23:27Online and the Grave Talks Podcast for allowing me to use
- 23:31that segment. The thought of being so
- 23:34vulnerable, like following a surgery or in this case
- 23:39surgeries, and having to deal with spiritual manifestations on
- 23:44top of physical pain and mental turmoil as a result of both is
- 23:49just harrowing to try and fathom.
- 23:53I really have to say that Jacinda truly seems to be a
- 23:56strong willed person and I pray that wherever her and her family
- 24:01are now, whether it's still in the same home or not, that
- 24:06they've found peace. Albeit that doesn't seem to be
- 24:09the case based off of my research.
- 24:13The wishing someone the best certainly never did any harm.
- 24:17There's a lot of small details in this case as well, but I
- 24:21tried my best to touch on major points.
- 24:24And as always, I recommend you dive into your own research if
- 24:28you'd like to know more. If you liked this episode,
- 24:33please give it a like subscribe with notifications on and please
- 24:38share it around whether it's with a friend or online.
- 24:42Every little bit helps me tremendously.
- 24:46As many of you know, I've been sick recently.
- 24:49I'm sorry for the wait, but there's certainly many more
- 24:52episodes coming very soon and I truly appreciate your patience
- 24:57with that. I would also really be grateful
- 25:00if you checked out my new podcast which is called The
