- 1:35Speaker 1: coach Michael Early. In the second hour, we've got the
- 1:38Speaker 1: writers' round table. Rusty and Cease will be with us.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Arizona is still number one in college basketball. Iowa State
- 1:46Speaker 1: has moved up a notch to two, yukon three. Michigan
- 1:49Speaker 1: drops to four after getting upset over the weekend. Purdue, Duke, Houston, Nebraska, Gonzaga, Vanderbilt.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Name the teams that you don't think belong in that
- 2:04Speaker 1: list right now, they all do. Texas Tech is sitting
- 2:10Speaker 1: at fifteen, Arkansas seventeen, Alabama eighteen, Florida nineteen, Georgia twenty one,
- 2:21Speaker 1: Tennessee at twenty four, and the Aggies the eighth team
- 2:27Speaker 1: receiving votes right now in the AP pole. Iowa, Kansas, SMU,
- 2:35Speaker 1: Central Florida all dropped out this week, A and M,
- 2:40Speaker 1: taking their three and zero record to Tennessee tomorrow evening
- 2:46Speaker 1: against the Valls, who are one and two in league play.
- 2:53Speaker 1: They're not as good as they've been, but I'm telling
- 2:56Speaker 1: you they're huge. It's going to be a very interesting
- 3:00Speaker 1: road game for the Aggies, who are sitting right now
- 3:04Speaker 1: at forty three in the net. Tennessee is twenty seven
- 3:09Speaker 1: in the net. The Valls got knocked out at Florida
- 3:15Speaker 1: on Saturday, A and M of course taking down those
- 3:20Speaker 1: Sooners at Reed on Saturday. Rashawn Agey continues to be
- 3:27Speaker 1: a man inside. He went for sixteen and twelve. Ryland
- 3:32Speaker 1: Griffin Ruben Domingus both had fourteen thirteen for Pop Isaac's
- 3:40Speaker 1: ten for Marcus Hill.
- 3:42Speaker 3: The Aggies beat.
- 3:44Speaker 1: The Sooners eighty three seventy six before an announced paid
- 3:51Speaker 1: crowd of a little over nine thousand. An M and
- 3:55Speaker 1: Vanderbilt lead the league right now at three and zero.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I saw Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri all two and one.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Then you have Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole, miss Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee,
- 4:14Speaker 1: Texas all at one and two, and LSU bringing up
- 4:19Speaker 1: the rear at oh to three.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It's going to be competitive.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I still don't think right now there's a great team
- 4:28Speaker 1: in the league, but we've got a long.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Ways to go.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Players of the Week Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner. If you
- 4:36Speaker 1: haven't watched this guy play, you need to. He average
- 4:39Speaker 1: twenty four and a half, five assists, three and a
- 4:42Speaker 1: half steals, three rebounds, and wins over Alabama and LSU.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Last week Freshmen of the Week again Arkansas guard Darius A.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Cuff twenty two and a half with five assists against
- 4:57Speaker 1: Ole Miss and Auburn. I'm Arizona State quarterback Sam Lovitt
- 5:03Speaker 1: going to LSU. The lane train got Levitt to commit
- 5:08Speaker 1: over Kentucky, Tennessee, and Miami among other schools, and Oregon,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and I don't like this at all. Oregon Ducks just
- 5:19Speaker 1: got worse. They're going with Dylan Ryola in the transfer portal,
- 5:24Speaker 1: the Nebraska quarterback.
- 5:26Speaker 3: In my mind, he's KP.
- 5:28Speaker 1: He can't play, and I think Oregon needs to go
- 5:33Speaker 1: get another quarterback. I'm just saying, I'm no Dan Lanning,
- 5:39Speaker 1: he's the expert. I don't think he can play. Kendall
- 5:44Speaker 1: Rodgers reported earlier today that recruiting coordinator and hitting coach
- 5:49Speaker 1: at A and M Caleb Longley resigned after dispute with
- 5:53Speaker 1: the university about his side business, MARV Training. According to Rogers,
- 5:59Speaker 1: Longley turned down a two year contract because of a
- 6:02Speaker 1: buyout clause should he become a head coach.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Right now.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Early says he's still evaluating, but Troy Claunch will probably
- 6:13Speaker 1: be promoted to that position, and he also announced he
- 6:18Speaker 1: finalized his staff by hiring Nate Friedman as the new
- 6:23Speaker 1: strength and conditioning coach, joining the staff after serving as
- 6:29Speaker 1: Minor League strength and conditioning coach with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 6:34Speaker 1: The Boston Red Sox had targeted Alex Bregman as their
- 6:40Speaker 1: must sign player in the offseason. Guess what didn't work.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Bregman took one hundred and seventy five million and a
- 6:49Speaker 1: five year deal from the Chicago Cubs with a full
- 6:52Speaker 1: no trade clause and no opt outs. That's about ten
- 6:57Speaker 1: million more than the Red Sox were willing to pay,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and the Red Sox would not include a no trade
- 7:06Speaker 1: clause siding team policy. Five time Major Golf champ Brooks
- 7:13Speaker 1: Kopka is leaving Live Golf and returning to the PGA,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and a memo sent to tour members today the tour
- 7:24Speaker 1: said Kopka is expected to return at the Farmer's Insurance
- 7:28Speaker 1: Open at the end of the month at Torrey Pines
- 7:32Speaker 1: and expected to play in the Phoenix Open the following week.
- 7:36Speaker 1: The returning member program that's the RMP if you're keeping score,
- 7:42Speaker 1: allows live golfers who have been away for at least
- 7:45Speaker 1: two years and won the Players Championship or one of
- 7:49Speaker 1: the four Majors to return to the PGA Tour under
- 7:53Speaker 1: certain conditions. There are reports that Kopka will owe the
- 7:58Speaker 1: tour five million dollars to come back. Other eligible live
- 8:04Speaker 1: golfers under that policy would be Bryce and d Chambeau,
- 8:09Speaker 1: John Rom Cameron Smith.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Is this the beginning of the end of live golf?
- 8:15Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:16Speaker 1: They have a lot of money there, so when that's
- 8:20Speaker 1: the case, I'm not sure that's the beginning of the end.
- 8:24Speaker 3: We'll see what happens.
- 8:26Speaker 1: If that means my man, David Faridy could return to
- 8:29Speaker 1: PG eight golf man, I would be all for that. Okay,
- 8:35Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Bucky, We're gonna hear from Porter
- 8:40Speaker 1: Moser coming up.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Tomorrow on the show.
- 9:04Speaker 1: This was only a test. Should that's been an actual emergency,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you would have been no.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Never mind.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Martha Ackman joins me tomorrow.
- 9:12Speaker 1: She's written a book called Ain't Nobody's Fool Life and
- 9:16Speaker 1: Times of Dolly Parton. Martha Ackman will be with me
- 9:20Speaker 1: tomorrow and next week on the program a return guest
- 9:25Speaker 1: Monty Burke. His new book is called Men of Troy,
- 9:29Speaker 1: The Legendary Afternoons, Wild Nights and Enduring Legacy of Pete
- 9:35Speaker 1: Carroll's usc Trojans. Monty Burke will join me on the
- 9:40Speaker 1: program next week.
- 9:43Speaker 3: All right, we'll take a break, we'll come back.

- 9:47Speaker 1: Chad Jones Law.
- 9:50Speaker 5: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 9:53Speaker 5: do injuries from car rex. But you didn't sign up
- 9:55Speaker 5: to being a car wreck with someone who wasn't paying attention.

- 10:23Speaker 3: Cedric Golden of the Austin American Stations.
- 10:25Speaker 8: With the portal you can't build from scratch like he
- 10:28Speaker 8: used toulu. You know, you maybe get a couple of
- 10:31Speaker 8: program guys that are going to be around for three
- 10:33Speaker 8: or four years and maybe a super freshman. With the
- 10:37Speaker 8: way it is now, you've got to figure out how
- 10:39Speaker 8: to get get better and players to buy into your system,
- 10:42Speaker 8: and then try to mix that with some guys that
- 10:45Speaker 8: might stick around for two or three years. It's really hard.
- 10:48Speaker 7: Hang out with Louis weekdays eleven to two on the
- 10:51Speaker 7: Zoni Elevel and fifty AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 11:05Speaker 9: Shout play it out.
- 11:21Speaker 10: You know you look, that's out. You know you got melling.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Hey, thanks for joining us on this Monday.
- 11:34Speaker 1: We've got the writers roundtable coming up in less than
- 11:38Speaker 1: an hour.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Bucky ball off and running in the SEC. They improved a.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Three and oh on Saturday with the win over Oklahoma.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Let's hear from Bucky.
- 11:54Speaker 11: After the game, good good atmosphere called to the Aggies.
- 11:59Speaker 11: We needed them here to day and they came and
- 12:01Speaker 11: it was a good, great atmosphere. You know, we know
- 12:05Speaker 11: these SEC games will be close. That's kind of how
- 12:08Speaker 11: you won it. We found ways to win close games
- 12:10Speaker 11: in different ways. Tonight we were good in the full
- 12:13Speaker 11: court on defense and playing in the full court, and
- 12:16Speaker 11: then in the second half we were good. We're better
- 12:18Speaker 11: playing in the half court a little bit. So it
- 12:20Speaker 11: was growth by our.
- 12:21Speaker 12: Team, but overall good win.
- 12:23Speaker 11: Not easy to get to three and zero in this league.
- 12:26Speaker 13: Speaking of the defense, coach, you know, my mass rights
- 12:30Speaker 13: are like they were like two or three or fifteen
- 12:33Speaker 13: in the last eight minutes I think, And oh the
- 12:37Speaker 13: last seven or three point rangeing And what changed for y'all?
- 12:40Speaker 14: How did y'all make that change?
- 12:42Speaker 11: Well, we felt that we kind of we're doing a
- 12:45Speaker 11: better job guard than the half court. We weren't very
- 12:47Speaker 11: good in the half court the first half. We were
- 12:48Speaker 11: good in the full court. Second half they were the
- 12:50Speaker 11: other team was playing better in the full court than
- 12:52Speaker 11: the half court. I thought our guys were pretty fresh
- 12:55Speaker 11: in the game late, which was good. And we tried
- 12:58Speaker 11: to get the matchups more instead of switching as much,
- 13:01Speaker 11: and so Marcus wanted to guard nine, and we kind
- 13:03Speaker 11: of got with the right matchups there instead of switching
- 13:06Speaker 11: as much. And our players kind of took it personal
- 13:08Speaker 11: to stop their guy Keystatt in the game. We had
- 13:11Speaker 11: seven they had seventeen turnovers. We only had eight, so
- 13:14Speaker 11: nine more shots at the rim with the turnovers, and
- 13:17Speaker 11: we obviously shot more free throws.
- 13:21Speaker 15: You have Ruben and a g doing what they do
- 13:25Speaker 15: best at the same time. How difficult an option is
- 13:29Speaker 15: that to pick what you're gonna do.
- 13:31Speaker 11: It's really difficult because you know, we threw it with
- 13:33Speaker 11: so Rashawn late in the game in a really close game.
- 13:36Speaker 11: You know, you know, I was in the huddle with
- 13:37Speaker 11: the coaches said, man, we can get Reuben three. Man,
- 13:40Speaker 11: we can cut the lights out in the ear. And
- 13:43Speaker 11: so we thought it Rashaun. They'd been post doubling. Rashawn
- 13:45Speaker 11: whips it, gets out of they were skipping across the room,
- 13:47Speaker 11: and he makes it three. So then the next time
- 13:49Speaker 11: we come down there bull the time out.
- 13:51Speaker 14: We're going to go right back to it and go
- 13:53Speaker 14: back to Rashaun.
- 13:54Speaker 11: And now they can't post double because Ruben just made
- 13:57Speaker 11: a three and Rashawn goes then it shoots the lea.
- 13:59Speaker 14: So you know, when you have players in the right spots,
- 14:01Speaker 14: good things happen. I just said that on the radio.
- 14:04Speaker 11: It's been a lot of good plays we've run before
- 14:06Speaker 11: that don't work out. But when you get it too,
- 14:07Speaker 11: good players in the right spots, usually good things happen.
- 14:10Speaker 16: Speaking especially those two. You know, Rareshawan said, you know
- 14:14Speaker 16: he can just trusted group has be in the spot,
- 14:16Speaker 16: through the ball to a spot.
- 14:17Speaker 17: Who's there?
- 14:18Speaker 16: You said, players are in the right spots. I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 16: these are all new teammates this year. What do you
- 14:23Speaker 16: contribute kind of the chemistry and how it progressed.
- 14:25Speaker 14: So quickly, mainly time, you know, time and then.
- 14:31Speaker 11: Believing in what we're about, you know, buying into that
- 14:34Speaker 11: this is bigger than you and just time together helps.
- 14:37Speaker 14: Knowing where each other are.
- 14:40Speaker 11: But it's got to mean something that's more than just
- 14:44Speaker 11: about how you feel. And they've become a true team
- 14:48Speaker 11: with an identity, with a competitive edge, that play for
- 14:52Speaker 11: something bigger than themselves. And you know, they figured they
- 14:55Speaker 11: figured each other out. They know their strengths are playing
- 14:58Speaker 11: to them, they know their weaknesses. I thought we made
- 15:00Speaker 11: some shots late, but we also went had a lot
- 15:02Speaker 11: of good looks there for a second. We were open
- 15:04Speaker 11: that we didn't make them, and so it was good
- 15:07Speaker 11: that we persevered through it and make big shots.
- 15:11Speaker 10: Let's see a third straight game, y' one pretty close.
- 15:15Speaker 18: This has been a common denominators of being able to
- 15:17Speaker 18: finish these games as opposed to earlier in the season,
- 15:20Speaker 18: And what confidence does that give you guys to continue
- 15:24Speaker 18: to win in different ways.
- 15:26Speaker 3: It's good.
- 15:27Speaker 11: I think we're in good shape late. I mean, I
- 15:29Speaker 11: think we're physically in good shape. And I feel like
- 15:31Speaker 11: our guys are able to continue to play at a
- 15:34Speaker 11: high level with effort late in the games right now,
- 15:37Speaker 11: and that that obviously matters. So I think that they're confident,
- 15:43Speaker 11: they know each other, They you know, they lean on
- 15:46Speaker 11: the other team as much as they can. And then
- 15:48Speaker 11: late in the game, we got guys on the floor,
- 15:50Speaker 11: they're hopefully fresh, and they're continuing to play attacking basketball.
- 15:54Speaker 11: You know, it's hard to win when you're playing not
- 15:56Speaker 11: to lose. I think late in the games, our guys
- 15:58Speaker 11: have been playing to win.
- 16:01Speaker 19: After that three point shooting performance the first half, how
- 16:04Speaker 19: encouraging was it to really come up strong shooting behind
- 16:07Speaker 19: the arc to start the same half.
- 16:09Speaker 11: Well, we always want to shoot it well, but to
- 16:11Speaker 11: shoot aways. Just talk about passing it well and getting
- 16:13Speaker 11: the right looks. I mean, that's what's most important. The
- 16:16Speaker 11: two best shooters in the league probably are Rubin and
- 16:18Speaker 11: number nine for them Pack and they you could see
- 16:22Speaker 11: that was just a great, great deal for the fans.
- 16:24Speaker 11: I mean liked where did he go went six or
- 16:26Speaker 11: thirteen from three? So he saw great shooters. And you know,
- 16:30Speaker 11: this is the the SEC is almost like the NBA,
- 16:33Speaker 11: like sometimes just you can play great defense and great
- 16:36Speaker 11: offense can still win and great players can win. And
- 16:40Speaker 11: you know they had with packing space early in that
- 16:42Speaker 11: game and early in the second half, and he's going
- 16:44Speaker 11: to work. And then late that get second half, Marcus
- 16:47Speaker 11: did a great job of disrupting. I felt his rhythm
- 16:49Speaker 11: a little bit, and we're able to find stops.
- 16:54Speaker 20: And we're not going to talk to you before you
- 16:55Speaker 20: played Tennessee, just what do you know about them?
- 16:57Speaker 14: And just kind of the team might see.
- 16:59Speaker 10: I know it's for after this.
- 17:00Speaker 11: Game, but yeah, they're good, real physical, they're good at home.
- 17:04Speaker 11: Different kind of game, really good defensive team, really solid,
- 17:09Speaker 11: you know, be a little bit different than this, maybe
- 17:11Speaker 11: not as much as three point shooting, more of a
- 17:13Speaker 11: power game, you know football terms kind of power eye
- 17:16Speaker 11: and kind of run you over.
- 17:18Speaker 7: You know.
- 17:19Speaker 14: So that's just the league. I mean, every every night
- 17:21Speaker 14: something different. You know, we got to find different ways.
- 17:24Speaker 16: How much have you seen the fatigue that in your
- 17:26Speaker 16: opponents play factor in some of these games.
- 17:29Speaker 11: I think a fatigue both ways always plays a massive factor,
- 17:32Speaker 11: you know. So Nolan Richardson quote, this is not directed
- 17:36Speaker 11: towards any team we've played so police, you know. But
- 17:38Speaker 11: you know, patigue can make Calard tell us all our
- 17:40Speaker 11: team and anybody. But you know, early in the year,
- 17:43Speaker 11: I thought that we were playing it'spot we weren't in
- 17:46Speaker 11: the shape we needed to be in to persevere late
- 17:48Speaker 11: in games. And I feel that, you know, you don't
- 17:50Speaker 11: see weakness in our team late in the game.
- 17:54Speaker 1: All right, that's uh, that's bucky. After the game, look
- 17:59Speaker 1: a couple of the stats A and M twenty five
- 18:06Speaker 1: from the free throw line, which they had shot that
- 18:09Speaker 1: free throws really well most of the year.
- 18:11Speaker 3: The last couple of games.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Not as at as high level, but they're back to that,
- 18:17Speaker 1: which is good. Plus nine and turnovers and we're going
- 18:24Speaker 1: to hear from Porter Mooser here in just second, but
- 18:32Speaker 1: plus nine and turnovers. They turned over the Sooner seventeen
- 18:35Speaker 1: times and rebounding. By the way, tomorrow night Tennessee, I
- 18:47Speaker 1: at least threw into Saturday was either number one or
- 18:51Speaker 1: number two in the nation. Offensive rebounding. They're big, they're physical,
- 18:58Speaker 1: they love to push you around. It'll be interesting to
- 19:03Speaker 1: see if they can impose their style and their kind
- 19:12Speaker 1: of play on an M. So far, A and M
- 19:18Speaker 1: has done a really good job of imposing their style
- 19:22Speaker 1: on the other team, Tennessee at home. I think is
- 19:26Speaker 1: going to be a different animal from what they've seen
- 19:29Speaker 1: so far. Doesn't mean they can't do it. It's just
- 19:31Speaker 1: gonna be a little bit different.
- 19:34Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Porter Moser, who is here as an assistant coach several years,
- 19:39Speaker 1: came in as a head coach of the Sooners on Saturday.
- 19:44Speaker 13: What's going to do the I think I saw like
- 19:49Speaker 13: twenty percent over the last eight minutes, and it looked
- 19:53Speaker 13: like the one hundred point came at one point. Any
- 19:57Speaker 13: thoughts of you know, what happens that something and it
- 20:00Speaker 13: was doing defensively?
- 20:01Speaker 5: Was it?
- 20:03Speaker 21: I think their style kind of wears you down at times.
- 20:06Speaker 21: Combination of that, I don't, I don't think. I mean,
- 20:09Speaker 21: I thought their guards were playing really physical there. I
- 20:13Speaker 21: thought their guards played really physical guarding the ball. You say,
- 20:17Speaker 21: we always talk about guarding your yard, and I thought
- 20:19Speaker 21: they did it. I thought their guards did a really
- 20:21Speaker 21: good job guarding. I thought Lane did a good job.
- 20:24Speaker 21: I thought they all guarded. And you know, our guards
- 20:28Speaker 21: have been doing a really good job this year of
- 20:30Speaker 21: going downhill creating some things, and we just couldn't get
- 20:33Speaker 21: that downhill thrust against them offensively.
- 20:38Speaker 4: And you know, that thing was seventeen turnovers.
- 20:41Speaker 21: You know, we were talking about having twelve were under
- 20:43Speaker 21: five turnovers. I think is the difference. And they play
- 20:48Speaker 21: You got to give them credit. They played that style.
- 20:50Speaker 21: I thought the crowd was excellent. They get behind that
- 20:53Speaker 21: style and you know, it becomes frenetic. And I thought
- 20:58Speaker 21: the other thing that seeing them it was it was
- 21:02Speaker 21: more physical.
- 21:02Speaker 4: I thought they were physical.
- 21:04Speaker 21: That that's my takeaway is I thought ag I thought
- 21:08Speaker 21: was the difference in the game.
- 21:11Speaker 4: His physicality. He drew seven files going to the glass
- 21:14Speaker 4: trying to keep him off the glass.
- 21:16Speaker 21: You look at his efficiency and his production. You know,
- 21:20Speaker 21: he had sixteen points on nine shots. He had twelve rebounds,
- 21:23Speaker 21: He had two assists, no turnovers, two steals, two block shots.
- 21:27Speaker 21: I thought he was he was really good. And I
- 21:29Speaker 21: and I thought laying you know the points being five assists,
- 21:33Speaker 21: one turnover, and I thought he.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Was just a menace.
- 21:35Speaker 13: Defensive impact, y'all shot really well most of the game
- 21:39Speaker 13: from three point range and the tail off yeah breaks
- 21:44Speaker 13: but he whatever, Yeah, you.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Know, I gotta look at the tape.
- 21:47Speaker 21: But if I recall, a bunch of them were short, and
- 21:50Speaker 21: when they're that's when they're short.
- 21:51Speaker 4: That is fatigue. And I thought they played deeper.
- 21:54Speaker 21: I thought their bench was deeper than ours, and I
- 21:58Speaker 21: thought that just kind of wore out and it kind
- 21:59Speaker 21: of played out. We got to get better production from
- 22:02Speaker 21: our bench, I thought they you know, I thought they
- 22:06Speaker 21: got really good production from their bench for six They
- 22:09Speaker 21: got eight baskets off their bench. They you know, look
- 22:13Speaker 21: at the rebounds, but I thought they did.
- 22:15Speaker 4: You know, I thought I.
- 22:16Speaker 21: Thought they had a lot of production from guys and
- 22:18Speaker 21: they just keep coming and you got to give them credit.
- 22:22Speaker 4: And it just uh we we we you can't win.
- 22:25Speaker 21: Against that that that that team, it's a very good
- 22:28Speaker 21: team in this atmosphere. Having seventeen turnovers. I just think
- 22:31Speaker 21: we knew that's what they're trying to do and we
- 22:32Speaker 21: didn't get it done.
- 22:34Speaker 10: How difficult is a close out of a closeout? Is
- 22:36Speaker 10: ruby deming? Is how quick you can you get?
- 22:38Speaker 21: Yeah, I mean that it's you had to make a
- 22:41Speaker 21: decisions down the stretch. You know, Ag just kept on
- 22:44Speaker 21: hurting you, hurting ya, and uh really frustrated. We we
- 22:50Speaker 21: we got two files in the first half leaving our feet.
- 22:53Speaker 21: Those are those are free throws. But he found uh
- 22:56Speaker 21: de mingas in the opposite corner off a little flair.
- 22:59Speaker 21: I mean, not many guys in the country. He threw
- 23:01Speaker 21: a pass from one corner and out of a trap
- 23:04Speaker 21: on a dime for that three.
- 23:06Speaker 4: That was a top. That was a that was a
- 23:08Speaker 4: big play.
- 23:09Speaker 21: Because you're you're you're kind of making a decision, do
- 23:11Speaker 21: you do you let Ag go one on one?
- 23:13Speaker 4: Do you trap?
- 23:13Speaker 21: We're like, all right, he's heard us one on one,
- 23:15Speaker 21: we trap, and you're hoping to have great trap defense.
- 23:18Speaker 21: And he throws a bullet to the out of the
- 23:19Speaker 21: corner and the kid had a great long bomb that
- 23:22Speaker 21: one in Ryland's at the end of the first half.
- 23:24Speaker 21: Those are two daggers. That's six points right there. That's
- 23:26Speaker 21: six points right there from deep deep corner.
- 23:30Speaker 20: With with Nigel specifically, I understood was dealing with some
- 23:33Speaker 20: foul trouble in the second half, but just was was
- 23:36Speaker 20: there anything particular to him where Adam was able to
- 23:38Speaker 20: hold him scoreless this last fourteen minutes.
- 23:40Speaker 21: I thought he had to carry a ton of load,
- 23:42Speaker 21: and Xavier Brown got two files.
- 23:44Speaker 4: I didn't make a decision.
- 23:45Speaker 21: Sometimes I play guys with two files in the first half,
- 23:48Speaker 21: but knowing this style of play, I couldn't afford Xavier
- 23:51Speaker 21: Brown to get three files in the first half.
- 23:52Speaker 4: And it just something I roll with. And you know what,
- 23:55Speaker 4: we weather the storm.
- 23:55Speaker 21: We were down three and if Ryland misses that shot
- 23:57Speaker 21: in the corner and we're tied, so we went and
- 23:59Speaker 21: but I I thought Nigel had to carry a ton
- 24:01Speaker 21: of load with that. And you know whether it's fatigue,
- 24:05Speaker 21: but I mean I can't. I thought he played his
- 24:07Speaker 21: tail off. He had twenty four points, five assists, he
- 24:10Speaker 21: had six rebounds. I've it on him about rebounding. So Nigel,
- 24:14Speaker 21: Nigel played his tail off. Yeah, I missed some down
- 24:17Speaker 21: the stretch, but man, he played. We're in there because
- 24:19Speaker 21: of how he played all around with the assists, the
- 24:21Speaker 21: rebounds and having to take a big load when in
- 24:26Speaker 21: that first half he expended a lot of energy in
- 24:28Speaker 21: that first half.
- 24:30Speaker 19: You've touched on the fatigue and the physicality of the
- 24:33Speaker 19: physically and showed the fatigue that caused how visible of
- 24:36Speaker 19: the style is to prepare for, especially knowing that you've
- 24:39Speaker 19: got that game in normal.
- 24:41Speaker 21: Well yeah, I'm not thinking about the second one, but
- 24:45Speaker 21: this one, you know, just turning around.
- 24:47Speaker 4: You know we were just in Starkville.
- 24:48Speaker 21: But you know, the it is, you got to prepare
- 24:52Speaker 21: for all different price of presses, run and jump trap.
- 24:54Speaker 21: The first pass they they and then they man the man.
- 24:59Speaker 21: They were switching and when you can switch and guard
- 25:01Speaker 21: the ball, that's that's when you And I thought those
- 25:04Speaker 21: guys did that. You know, I thought they were really
- 25:06Speaker 21: physical guarding it.
- 25:07Speaker 4: But you know, you got to be able.
- 25:10Speaker 21: I thought the first half we had we just have
- 25:11Speaker 21: too many turnovers. We were ready for it, but you know,
- 25:15Speaker 21: just didn't do a good enough job. We got to
- 25:17Speaker 21: got to make less mistakes when it's a two to
- 25:19Speaker 21: three possession game, because that's what it. You just got
- 25:23Speaker 21: to have less mistakes on the turnovers.
- 25:26Speaker 3: And support of Mosure from Old Klahoma.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And you know, I guess I hadn't paid enough attention
- 25:33Speaker 1: to the Sooners before Saturday. They introduced Nigel Pack for
- 25:38Speaker 1: the game, and I'm going Nigel Pack.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Is still playing.
- 25:42Speaker 1: He's one hundred and four years old. He's been playing
- 25:45Speaker 1: college basketball for sixty years. I mean I remember him
- 25:51Speaker 1: at Kansas State in the Big Twelve. He was a
- 25:54Speaker 1: really good player. Then then he goes to Miami, they
- 25:58Speaker 1: go to the Final four. He helped beat Texas in
- 26:03Speaker 1: that Elite eight game two or three years ago, whenever
- 26:05Speaker 1: that was. This guy's been playing basketball a long time.
- 26:09Speaker 1: And he almost shot the Aggies out of the dank
- 26:11Speaker 1: gym in the first half on Saturday. I mean, they
- 26:16Speaker 1: could not stop him. He was unconscious. But as both
- 26:22Speaker 1: coaches alluded to, fatigue can set in the legs get heavier.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Not good when you're shooting three point shots. So he
- 26:34Speaker 1: could not buy a basket down the stretch. He played,
- 26:38Speaker 1: ended up played thirty one minutes. And also Moisure alluded
- 26:46Speaker 1: to the A and M bench with eight field goals.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I mean with yeah, A and M had Holloway, Pop Ali, Diva,
- 26:58Speaker 1: Zach Clements and between them they had eight field goals. Okay,
- 27:07Speaker 1: the Sooner bench provided two field goals. All right, that's
- 27:15Speaker 1: a big difference in a close game. Talked about free
- 27:19Speaker 1: throws earlier, talked about turnovers earlier. A and M had
- 27:23Speaker 1: eight steals. They were plus four in steals. So even
- 27:30Speaker 1: losing the rebounding battle. They lost the rebounding battle by
- 27:35Speaker 1: eleven I mean significantly, but and they lost second chance points.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Oclomb had eighteen second chance points. A and M just
- 27:47Speaker 1: had seven. But the Aggies had enough. They made the
- 27:51Speaker 1: place when they had to make them down the stretch.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Like I said, tomorrow night, in my mind, is going
- 27:56Speaker 1: to be a totally different style of basketball if the
- 28:03Speaker 1: volunteers and Rick Barnes are able to play the way
- 28:07Speaker 1: they want to play, because I guarantee they're not going
- 28:10Speaker 1: to be running up and down the court if they
- 28:13Speaker 1: can help it. If they can help it. A lot
- 28:16Speaker 1: of that's making shots. You know, A and M couldn't
- 28:20Speaker 1: put a lot of pressure on Oklahoma made quite a
- 28:26Speaker 1: few shots. Let me see what their field goal percentage
- 28:28Speaker 1: in the first half was, because I think it was
- 28:30Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah, it's fifty. They shot forty percent from
- 28:35Speaker 1: the three. They shot fifty percent from the field in
- 28:38Speaker 1: the second half, I mean in the first half. In
- 28:41Speaker 1: the second half, Sooners only shoot thirty four percent, eleven
- 28:45Speaker 1: out of thirty two. So there's some of the stats,
- 28:50Speaker 1: most of which favor the Aggies. From Saturday, we'll visit
- 28:54Speaker 1: about with the writers about the game as well. Sefcheck

- 32:26Speaker 1: Ivey Well, welcome back, Thanks for joining us on this
- 32:29Speaker 1: Monday Writers Round table. Coming your way about thirty minutes.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Aggie Baseball starting practice. Michael Early met with the media today.
- 32:41Speaker 1: This story broke that his recruiting coordinator and hitting coach,
- 32:45Speaker 1: Caleb Longley resigned in a dispute about his side business,
- 32:51Speaker 1: Marv Training turned down a two year contract because of
- 32:57Speaker 1: biolet clause should he become a head coach. That says
- 33:02Speaker 1: he's still open to pro and college coaching opportunities moving forward.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Here is Michael Lurley Quinn.
- 33:11Speaker 10: Get out of the way.
- 33:12Speaker 15: I know the reports out there with Caleb, Well, what
- 33:14Speaker 15: can you tell us about that situation and where we
- 33:16Speaker 15: all move next with that position?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 33:18Speaker 26: He you know, he just made a decision to fully
- 33:20Speaker 26: focus on his business and we're wishing nothing but the best.
- 33:22Speaker 26: He worked his tail off here and it was awesome
- 33:24Speaker 26: and I'll still continue to be, you know, close with him.
- 33:28Speaker 12: He's a good dude. Other than that, yeah, we'll elevate.
- 33:31Speaker 26: As of right now, the plan is to elevate Troy klaunch.
- 33:35Speaker 26: I'm still evaluating that, but it's gonna have to happen quick,
- 33:37Speaker 26: and that's that's probably the direction we're gonna move. We're
- 33:40Speaker 26: just this is pretty fresh, and yeah, I think it
- 33:43Speaker 26: kind of allows us to transition to baseball seamlessly.
- 33:45Speaker 12: And then Troy does a really good job.
- 33:47Speaker 14: So will you take any kind of increased role with
- 33:49Speaker 14: the hitting?
- 33:50Speaker 12: Yeah, I don't. I've got a couple questions on that.
- 33:53Speaker 26: I'm not quite sure what the confusion is. But I
- 33:56Speaker 26: took over the hitting this fall. That was part of
- 33:58Speaker 26: one of the changes I made, so from a hitting
- 33:59Speaker 26: stamp point, nothing is changed or will change in the cage,
- 34:02Speaker 26: and the only thing that changed was me stepping back
- 34:05Speaker 26: into it like I had done in the past and
- 34:08Speaker 26: taking on that crease roll. It's a huge reason why
- 34:09Speaker 26: I brought in Cliff to take things like base running
- 34:12Speaker 26: off my plate so I could fully focus my time
- 34:14Speaker 26: on running the team and the organization and the hitting
- 34:18Speaker 26: in the offense. So it from a baseball standpoint, we're
- 34:21Speaker 26: in a good chick.
- 34:22Speaker 15: How long was maybe this percolating or did you know
- 34:25Speaker 15: that that this could be an option of him stepping down?
- 34:27Speaker 26: Yeah, it was a decision he's kind of went back
- 34:29Speaker 26: and forth on for a few days, or he might
- 34:32Speaker 26: have been thinking about it for some time, but it's
- 34:33Speaker 26: just kind of kind of what he went with and
- 34:35Speaker 26: fully supporting.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Why Troy and what would he bring to that role thing?
- 34:40Speaker 26: Yeah, I just don't. I think the big part is
- 34:43Speaker 26: like Troy I think is a stud. Like he's a
- 34:45Speaker 26: superstar coach in the making. He's someone, honestly that probably
- 34:47Speaker 26: won't be here very long at some point, because that's
- 34:50Speaker 26: what when you have younger coaches like that, And he
- 34:52Speaker 26: has shown the ability and aptitude to learn and being
- 34:54Speaker 26: an awesome dude, and I just trust what he does.
- 34:57Speaker 26: I don't think it's you know, I don't thin bringing
- 35:00Speaker 26: someone in here from a coaching baseball standpoint at this
- 35:03Speaker 26: point is something I necessarily want to do. So I
- 35:05Speaker 26: think Troy is fully capable. And you know, Troy got
- 35:09Speaker 26: people reached out to Troy this winner to try to
- 35:11Speaker 26: hire him at Division one and professional baseball. So Troy
- 35:13Speaker 26: is highly sought after and we're lucky to have him.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Here on YouTube.
- 35:16Speaker 10: Would today feel different.
- 35:17Speaker 14: From here to last season?
- 35:18Speaker 17: For you?
- 35:20Speaker 4: Oh?
- 35:20Speaker 12: Day one? Just to the spring feel great?
- 35:23Speaker 4: Man?
- 35:23Speaker 12: I mean I think a big thing is I.
- 35:25Speaker 26: Walked down there and we got a bunch of healthy players,
- 35:27Speaker 26: a bunch of healthy players, hungry players, and guys that
- 35:29Speaker 26: got after and had a really good winner, Like we
- 35:31Speaker 26: really challenged them to when you lose players for a month,
- 35:33Speaker 26: like it is on them to come back ready. And
- 35:36Speaker 26: you know, I walked in this in my office last Monday,
- 35:39Speaker 26: and I looked out the window and it looked like
- 35:41Speaker 26: they were holding their own practice and that's not something
- 35:43Speaker 26: we made them do. Like they're out there running together,
- 35:45Speaker 26: taking ground balls together, and in the cage together. So
- 35:48Speaker 26: I just think we have a collective group of guys
- 35:50Speaker 26: that know we're on a mission and there's no one
- 35:52Speaker 26: going to get noway of that mission.
- 35:54Speaker 20: As you had a chance to maybe look back at
- 35:56Speaker 20: the fall in totality, what was your biggest takeaway of
- 35:58Speaker 20: maybe the growth and progress show we're able to make
- 36:00Speaker 20: throughout that fall season.
- 36:01Speaker 26: I just saw this very mature approach for day to
- 36:03Speaker 26: day from top to bottom, older guys and younger guys,
- 36:06Speaker 26: and and older guys bringing young guys on. I got
- 36:08Speaker 26: some really good leaders that have been through all types
- 36:11Speaker 26: of different situations in this program, and we did a
- 36:13Speaker 26: really good job of bringing in not only really good
- 36:15Speaker 26: freshman players, but.
- 36:16Speaker 12: Character high character freshman guys.
- 36:18Speaker 26: So the biggest takeaways is we got a really mature
- 36:20Speaker 26: group that that's ready to go, and I think you
- 36:22Speaker 26: saw that in the two scrimmages, and how clean we
- 36:25Speaker 26: played against some good baseball teams, and just from a
- 36:28Speaker 26: toughness standpoint, like we want to play tough, we want
- 36:31Speaker 26: to be gritty, and I want you to know when.
- 36:33Speaker 12: You leave, like how those guys like they get after it.
- 36:35Speaker 12: And I think I think you felt that.
- 36:36Speaker 27: Different looking pitching staff is just skies in different roles
- 36:40Speaker 27: So what are some of the positional battles and slot
- 36:42Speaker 27: battles that are going on throughout the preseason.
- 36:45Speaker 26: Yeah, from a pitching standpoint, I mean Shane today and
- 36:49Speaker 26: west and Moss there. You know, I'm pretty confident they're
- 36:52Speaker 26: our top two guys. But like Aiden Simms, fresh Corn McCoy,
- 36:55Speaker 26: they're right there with them. So I'd be foolish to
- 36:58Speaker 26: say I don't think one of those two both of
- 37:00Speaker 26: them are going to start on the weekend. I think
- 37:01Speaker 26: there's a high probability of that, but those other guys
- 37:03Speaker 26: are pushing them. It's gonna have to be earned. When
- 37:05Speaker 26: Shane's right, Shane's as good as it gets from the
- 37:07Speaker 26: left side, like period, from what professional scouts sink to
- 37:11Speaker 26: what my eyes tell me, like, that's as good as
- 37:12Speaker 26: it gets. And I'd make an argument that last year
- 37:15Speaker 26: that our best pitcher on the mountain was Weston Moss,
- 37:17Speaker 26: and he pitched starter like innings because of how we
- 37:19Speaker 26: used him. So he's fully prepared for that role and
- 37:22Speaker 26: the stride Sims has made Fresh Corn made at the
- 37:25Speaker 26: end of last year, And same thing with you know,
- 37:27Speaker 26: Kate McCoy, who pitched the last month of a season
- 37:30Speaker 26: with a torn mcl and that was irminiscus excuse me.
- 37:33Speaker 12: And that was the best I think a month he
- 37:34Speaker 12: had pitching.
- 37:35Speaker 26: So I feel really good about that when we have
- 37:36Speaker 26: some young guys have stepped up, and some guys we
- 37:38Speaker 26: brought into the program, you know, like Darden and just
- 37:41Speaker 26: you know a lot of guys I think are gonna
- 37:43Speaker 26: make a contribution. But we got to get it down
- 37:45Speaker 26: to you know, seven, eight nine guys, and that's that's
- 37:47Speaker 26: who we need.
- 37:49Speaker 27: Looked as he comes back from that injury and Hols
- 37:52Speaker 27: his off season done great.
- 37:54Speaker 4: It was.
- 37:54Speaker 26: It was a definite process like it. It did not
- 37:57Speaker 26: look like this. It was a lot of ups and down.
- 38:00Speaker 26: And I mean he essentially hurt that shoulder game two
- 38:03Speaker 26: of his freshman year.
- 38:04Speaker 12: Like keep that in mind. He wasn't fully healthy.
- 38:07Speaker 26: Now he was playing with courtizons, so it's not like
- 38:09Speaker 26: it was one hundred percent effect in him.
- 38:10Speaker 12: But he missed a whole fall last year.
- 38:14Speaker 26: We had a few weeks into the winter and then
- 38:16Speaker 26: he was out, so he missed a good chunk of hitting.
- 38:18Speaker 26: So it really like we all collectively and mainly him,
- 38:22Speaker 26: like just.
- 38:22Speaker 12: Worked really really hard. He had to have some patience.
- 38:25Speaker 26: We had a plan of steps we wanted to take on,
- 38:29Speaker 26: not only like mechanical changes, Like I knew he needed
- 38:32Speaker 26: to get to point he need to get to point
- 38:34Speaker 26: A to D, but we didn't want to go right there.
- 38:36Speaker 26: Like it was just a plan, and he stuck with
- 38:37Speaker 26: it and we had some frustrating times. But as I
- 38:39Speaker 26: look at him right now, his body and shape, he
- 38:41Speaker 26: is one hundred and ten percent and ready to go.
- 38:44Speaker 26: So he's he put in a lot of work with
- 38:46Speaker 26: his dad back home over the winner, stayed in a
- 38:48Speaker 26: lot of communication. But it's been a it has been
- 38:50Speaker 26: a long path and I'm super proud of him up
- 38:52Speaker 26: to this point.
- 38:52Speaker 21: I have you planned to work your pitch your first
- 38:54Speaker 21: as your kid ors here in the early going here
- 38:56Speaker 21: there can be any kind of limits on what you
- 38:58Speaker 21: do with your pitching staff.
- 39:00Speaker 10: Now, this isn't a year round sport. It's not like
- 39:03Speaker 10: if you have guys.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Do their business during December.
- 39:05Speaker 13: Yeah they should be at a higher level, but how
- 39:07Speaker 13: do you plan that?
- 39:08Speaker 26: Yeah, pitching has changed, right it used to be, and
- 39:11Speaker 26: the philosophy has changed through like you know, studying and
- 39:15Speaker 26: call it science whatever you want to call it.
- 39:16Speaker 12: But pitchers don't have like a.
- 39:17Speaker 26: Huge shutdown period like they used to back back when
- 39:20Speaker 26: I was in college and when I started coaching. You'd
- 39:22Speaker 26: send them away from breaking and be like shutdown time.
- 39:24Speaker 26: These guys continue to throw. It's just kind of how
- 39:26Speaker 26: they're brought up now in these facilities and they're wired
- 39:29Speaker 26: to do that.
- 39:31Speaker 12: We could hit live this weekend from where we believe
- 39:34Speaker 12: they're at. We're just not going to do that.
- 39:35Speaker 26: We're still going to roll into this first week a
- 39:37Speaker 26: little bit slow, and we'll be, you know, doing live
- 39:40Speaker 26: at bats at the end of next week. So and
- 39:42Speaker 26: obviously there's still a build up Shane West and Sims
- 39:45Speaker 26: whatever it may be. Like, they're not going out and
- 39:46Speaker 26: doing seven things at a time.
- 39:47Speaker 12: They'll roll into one.
- 39:49Speaker 26: Two, three, and you kind of build up into the season.
- 39:51Speaker 26: JK does a really good job of putting them in
- 39:53Speaker 26: those positions where they are at a good spot when
- 39:55Speaker 26: we head into two week one.
- 39:58Speaker 10: From which a'all lost in the line of pleasure.
- 40:00Speaker 15: How imporant is it Having a guy like Gavin Back who.
- 40:03Speaker 10: Now was a was a veteran guy and an.
- 40:05Speaker 12: Experienced guy is huge.
- 40:06Speaker 26: I mean, it's he's a SEC Freshman of the Year
- 40:09Speaker 26: that one year he's played college baseball. He's a massive
- 40:11Speaker 26: hit to us last year, so it's a it's a
- 40:13Speaker 26: it's a massive game, right, we didn't have him and
- 40:15Speaker 26: now we have him, and adding guys like a Kopean
- 40:17Speaker 26: and Caden Surrell's another year better and it's huge. It's
- 40:20Speaker 26: huge from a leadership standpoint, it's huge from a cultural standpoint,
- 40:24Speaker 26: like he's just Gavin does a lot of things besides
- 40:27Speaker 26: baseball and hitting. But from a pure baseball and talent standpoint,
- 40:31Speaker 26: there's not really a lineup in the country. He probably
- 40:32Speaker 26: want to hit one through four and so we're we're
- 40:34Speaker 26: super lucky to have.
- 40:35Speaker 15: Him, and just what has it like having another talent
- 40:38Speaker 15: like that in the clubhouse.
- 40:40Speaker 12: He's great, man, I love having him here.
- 40:42Speaker 26: He's an ultra ultra competitive and again another super talented guy.
- 40:47Speaker 12: But you know, and they know this, like you can
- 40:49Speaker 12: be talented.
- 40:49Speaker 26: But they work hard to they work hard, they get
- 40:51Speaker 26: after it and they know they've got to you know,
- 40:52Speaker 26: results will come as long as they stick with their process.
- 40:54Speaker 12: And I think those are two guys that in a
- 40:56Speaker 12: draft year, I think you get challenged with that a bit.
- 40:58Speaker 26: And but those are two guys that I don't I'm
- 41:00Speaker 26: not afraid to put that on because I think they
- 41:02Speaker 26: you know, they can handle it.
- 41:03Speaker 16: That was today, it's kind of recover you've been like
- 41:06Speaker 16: and then how big is that for a team.
- 41:08Speaker 12: To have a gay like today like to come back.
- 41:10Speaker 12: It's been great.
- 41:10Speaker 26: So he threw the live hitters the last three weeks.
- 41:13Speaker 26: It's like a just a private session going out here.
- 41:16Speaker 26: It was Sedayo versus Gavin and a couple of other
- 41:20Speaker 26: guys here and there, just getting Gavin some more at
- 41:21Speaker 26: bats and getting caught up. So it's really productive and
- 41:24Speaker 26: he's he's good, like he he could have pitched more
- 41:27Speaker 26: than that, but we kind of want to dial him
- 41:29Speaker 26: down and bring him back up. But it's huge, Like
- 41:31Speaker 26: Shane today, I believe it is a real deal and
- 41:33Speaker 26: I think he will be the real deal. You know,
- 41:35Speaker 26: we're we It was a challenge to get him to
- 41:37Speaker 26: come to school, like even not pitching for a year, like,
- 41:39Speaker 26: he had a lot of opportunities to lead this program
- 41:42Speaker 26: and go to professional baseball and he wanted to be
- 41:43Speaker 26: back here. So, uh, Shane is as competitive as it gets,
- 41:46Speaker 26: and you don't you don't get worse by having that
- 41:49Speaker 26: guy on your team.
- 41:50Speaker 20: Similarly, just how about Josh Stewart just kind of his
- 41:52Speaker 20: progression back and what you hope he can bring to
- 41:55Speaker 20: the table.
- 41:56Speaker 26: Yeah, he's he's again same thing kind of Gavin, like
- 41:58Speaker 26: a slower progression, but before we left he got up
- 42:01Speaker 26: to a closer one hundred percent, and then his last
- 42:03Speaker 26: few he just got cleared by the doctor.
- 42:04Speaker 12: He's he's getting ready to go.
- 42:06Speaker 26: So right now we are whole and it's our job
- 42:08Speaker 26: to do our best to keep it there. Obviously things happen,
- 42:11Speaker 26: but again I'm not I'm not bringing up that because
- 42:14Speaker 26: of maybe the past or what injury wise, Like every
- 42:16Speaker 26: single college baseball coach in the country wants to stay healthy.
- 42:19Speaker 12: So right now we're healthy and whole and we want
- 42:21Speaker 12: to keep it that way.
- 42:22Speaker 18: That's maybe one thing that's kind of stuck with you
- 42:24Speaker 18: about last season that.
- 42:25Speaker 14: You think could improve this year.
- 42:28Speaker 26: I just take an overall approach day to day and
- 42:31Speaker 26: how we play baseball, like I think the simple fact
- 42:33Speaker 26: fact if like and much is made to do it
- 42:35Speaker 26: last year, and I completely understand that. But we got
- 42:37Speaker 26: to play better baseball and it's my job to put
- 42:39Speaker 26: us in positions to play better baseball, period, cleaner, tougher, longer,
- 42:45Speaker 26: you know, do little things you have to do to
- 42:47Speaker 26: win the games. And it's my job, in the coach's job,
- 42:49Speaker 26: to put these guys in position. We put them in
- 42:51Speaker 26: the position they have to execute. They execute, we'll win
- 42:54Speaker 26: more than we lose.
- 42:55Speaker 12: Period. So that's that's the biggest adjustment that needs to
- 42:58Speaker 12: be made.
- 42:59Speaker 27: That's a huge what's the next Monday Night look like
- 43:01Speaker 27: for you?
- 43:02Speaker 26: I tell you what, man, I wish the Aggies were playing,
- 43:05Speaker 26: but growing up in Indiana and if you look at
- 43:09Speaker 26: the record, and I mean, I honestly this is bad.
- 43:13Speaker 26: But I'm a fair weather fan right now, like it was.
- 43:16Speaker 26: The history and them not winning is crazy. To see
- 43:20Speaker 26: what they're doing now, so it's pretty cool.
- 43:21Speaker 12: So I want them. I definitely wanted to win. That
- 43:24Speaker 12: was a definite.
- 43:25Speaker 26: If you've ever been there, which I know you have
- 43:26Speaker 26: a very hungry fan base or something like that.
- 43:29Speaker 12: They just needed something to root for. So it's a
- 43:31Speaker 12: pretty cool, pretty remarkable turnaround.
- 43:33Speaker 26: I think you can learn a lot from that.
- 43:36Speaker 3: That's Michael Early and.
- 43:40Speaker 1: The Hoosiers sixty minutes away from winning a national championship
- 43:46Speaker 1: in football. This should get every more abound horrible losing
- 43:54Speaker 1: or even mediocre program. Some kind of hope for the future,
- 44:01Speaker 1: if only they can hire Kurt signetty I. The Texans

- 44:56Speaker 28: the longest in the National Football League during that time span,

- 45:02Speaker 28: The Texans are considered the favorites over the number four
- 45:04Speaker 28: seed Steelers. Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills did not travel
- 45:09Speaker 28: with the team on Sunday due to personal reasons, and
- 45:11Speaker 28: it's unclear if he'll be in uniform as the backup

- 45:15Speaker 28: Mills started three games this season for the Texans while

- 45:21Speaker 28: Mills under center. If he's not able to be the

- 47:40Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us on this Monday. I'm gonna hear
- 47:44Speaker 1: from a couple of uh anm basketball players post game.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Rashaan ag has just been a man so far. He
- 47:52Speaker 1: has been really good undersized in the post, but you
- 47:57Speaker 1: would never know it. Ruben Domingus continues to shoot the three.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Uh here is Rashan and Rubin after the wind Saturday.
- 48:09Speaker 14: Fast where you backed in.
- 48:13Speaker 13: They go to you just because you know if you're
- 48:16Speaker 13: the go to guy, or did you'll see something or
- 48:18Speaker 13: you know, why was that to play Calfer.
- 48:24Speaker 31: I'm not gonna say what he said, but I mean
- 48:26Speaker 31: it's I mean end of the game. I mean the
- 48:30Speaker 31: many people who gonna bear to stop me in that spot,
- 48:33Speaker 31: but especially if they're not double team, and I mean
- 48:36Speaker 31: to play before they double team.
- 48:39Speaker 4: My boy knocked down and open three. I was not open.
- 48:44Speaker 31: He is him.
- 48:47Speaker 20: Can you just take us through the sequence where you
- 48:50Speaker 20: got the jump ball and then on the other end
- 48:51Speaker 20: you were able to dish it to Reuben for the three.
- 48:55Speaker 31: Uh, it was a draw up, so I mean isolation
- 48:59Speaker 31: falls ball spring ice relation for me. And I knew
- 49:01Speaker 31: the double was coming because the play before I shot
- 49:03Speaker 31: a hook and he wanted to come, but he just
- 49:05Speaker 31: didn't come early enough.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Uh.
- 49:07Speaker 31: And I just I felt it coming backside screen for Marcus,
- 49:10Speaker 31: and then I just I ain't even I'm gonna be honest.
- 49:13Speaker 31: I kind of trusted that Ruben was gonna be in
- 49:15Speaker 31: the spot. I threw it to the spot.
- 49:18Speaker 14: Hey, Ruben, third game in a row.
- 49:20Speaker 32: I know, I know.
- 49:21Speaker 13: If this looks like it was a more comfortable woman,
- 49:24Speaker 13: it was third game in a row. You guys have
- 49:26Speaker 13: had to make the clutch plays. Why is this team
- 49:31Speaker 13: so adepted making those clutch plays?
- 49:36Speaker 33: Yeah, like we know this, She's gonna be like this
- 49:40Speaker 33: so we've been working in executing plays and you know,
- 49:44Speaker 33: every small detail, we gotta take it to the next level.
- 49:48Speaker 33: And that's what we've been doing, and that's why we're
- 49:51Speaker 33: able to close the games.
- 49:52Speaker 10: Ra Sean three point was just a touch below average.
- 49:55Speaker 15: Is it important to see that y'all can find ways
- 49:57Speaker 15: to win that's just not just you threes and.
- 50:02Speaker 10: Distant shooting.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 50:04Speaker 31: I mean I say to ourselves, like, I mean, the
- 50:06Speaker 31: way we play is it's never gonna be a night
- 50:08Speaker 31: where we just gonna continue to just make all our
- 50:11Speaker 31: threes or or be super high. It's gonna be times
- 50:14Speaker 31: where it don't fall for us, and we're gonna have
- 50:15Speaker 31: to figure it out, figure it out defensively and offensively.
- 50:18Speaker 31: And I felt like in the second half there were
- 50:20Speaker 31: stretches where defensively, I feel like we were great and
- 50:23Speaker 31: we figured it out and and we got stops when
- 50:25Speaker 31: we needed stops, and we made shots when we needed
- 50:27Speaker 31: to make shots.
- 50:28Speaker 10: Have you seen the guy with a quicker release than No.
- 50:33Speaker 31: I ain't gonna lie I already, I keep saying it.
- 50:35Speaker 31: It's just his jump shot is just man, I know
- 50:40Speaker 31: I'm throwing him the ball the open you.
- 50:43Speaker 20: Need you've been needing a double doubles for you got
- 50:48Speaker 20: a double double.
- 50:50Speaker 31: Uh, and it just it just happens. I mean, I
- 50:53Speaker 31: just play hard and it just happens. To be honest,
- 50:55Speaker 31: That's how I kind of look at it. I'm not
- 50:57Speaker 31: even really like I feel like some people going to
- 50:59Speaker 31: looking for what. But when when you just play hard
- 51:02Speaker 31: and you trust in your teammates, things just following in
- 51:04Speaker 31: the right place.
- 51:05Speaker 10: Rashan, what's level of confidence?
- 51:07Speaker 13: Now?
- 51:07Speaker 18: It's been eleven out of twelve for y'all, when and
- 51:10Speaker 18: winning a few close fams in a row.
- 51:13Speaker 31: Our confidence is high. I know my teammates, we're on
- 51:16Speaker 31: a flat line, and we understand every game we're going
- 51:19Speaker 31: to we gotta be great.
- 51:20Speaker 4: There's no there's no space for error. We know that.
- 51:23Speaker 31: Like like Ruben said, when we go into set play,
- 51:26Speaker 31: it's gonna be tough, it's gonna be great, and it's
- 51:28Speaker 31: gonna be hard to come out with wins and we
- 51:29Speaker 31: gotta scrap and we got to continue to play together.
- 51:31Speaker 31: So I mean, we're confident, but we know what we
- 51:34Speaker 31: gotta do.
- 51:35Speaker 33: We confident in our day to day work. That's the
- 51:37Speaker 33: most important thing. Like we can decide to be confident
- 51:42Speaker 33: just because we won't for somebody in Noborny. If they
- 51:46Speaker 33: make they made the three, but if they give them
- 51:48Speaker 33: the three, it's just the same confidence. We were there
- 51:50Speaker 33: and we were able to compete. So yeah, our day
- 51:53Speaker 33: to day work is it's the most important thing.
- 51:56Speaker 10: The first half this could have been first to one
- 51:59Speaker 10: hundred kind of game. And then the second half, you know,
- 52:02Speaker 10: long stretch. I think eleven minutes they only scored eleven points.
- 52:05Speaker 18: What difference was there defensively out of you guys, and.
- 52:09Speaker 10: And what made it so difficult for them during that.
- 52:11Speaker 33: Stretch they were having a great night from the three
- 52:17Speaker 33: point line, number thirty five. We thought he was not
- 52:21Speaker 33: a shooter. He had four threes. We did at some
- 52:25Speaker 33: point that were getting tired. So we were kind of
- 52:28Speaker 33: confident in getting them into our game. And that's what
- 52:32Speaker 33: happened at the end of the game, like we were
- 52:34Speaker 33: just playing the same way. We were trying to execute
- 52:37Speaker 33: and they were just tired and they couldn't get to
- 52:39Speaker 33: the basket anymore, get to the pain, make those open trees.
- 52:43Speaker 20: Speaking confidence, how confident are y'all right?
- 52:46Speaker 11: Now?
- 52:46Speaker 14: With the defense?
- 52:49Speaker 4: I think he came a long way.
- 52:50Speaker 33: We got a lot better, and we just got to
- 52:53Speaker 33: trust each other and pressed the ball more than that.
- 52:56Speaker 33: We were talking about that the first half, and I
- 52:58Speaker 33: think we did in the second half because we got
- 53:00Speaker 33: to trust there's somebody behind me, like ready to help me.
- 53:05Speaker 15: When I asked for Sean about, you know, find the
- 53:08Speaker 15: other ways to score points, he nodded.
- 53:09Speaker 10: What as a three point shooter.
- 53:12Speaker 15: How is it comforting to know that there's other guys
- 53:15Speaker 15: contributing and then there's different ways that you can score.
- 53:18Speaker 33: Yeah, for sure, I'd say that's the most important thing
- 53:22Speaker 33: for me as a shooter to have other guys like
- 53:25Speaker 33: being ready to be aggressive and you know, because that
- 53:29Speaker 33: makes me a little bit more open, so they can
- 53:31Speaker 33: be on me the whole night, just sitting on me,
- 53:33Speaker 33: you know. So yeah, I'm happy to see the guys
- 53:38Speaker 33: just going to the rim shooting threes like rattle the night.
- 53:40Speaker 4: He was great.
- 53:42Speaker 27: So yeah, for.
- 53:43Speaker 19: Sean, you mentioned earlier player when you trusted Rubn be
- 53:46Speaker 19: in that spot.
- 53:47Speaker 10: How is that trust in that.
- 53:49Speaker 19: Chemistry developed throughout the year and what does it mean
- 53:52Speaker 19: to have that that strong at this point.
- 53:54Speaker 31: Sec that I feel like the trust is just oh ripe,
- 53:58Speaker 31: I kind of clicked Ruben I just like feel like
- 54:00Speaker 31: he was gonna always be in a race spy, you know,
- 54:02Speaker 31: because we're I mean, we on teams are sometimes in
- 54:05Speaker 31: practice and I throw them open in practice.
- 54:08Speaker 4: So it's like, I know, like if.
- 54:10Speaker 31: We draw something up of me and Ruby see something
- 54:12Speaker 31: we make our content, it's gonna happen, like it's just natural.
- 54:15Speaker 31: I feel like sometimes it's playing Ruby like I played
- 54:17Speaker 31: a little before.
- 54:22Speaker 1: All right, Ruben Domingus, Rashaan Ag they were both really good.
- 54:27Speaker 1: They were really good down the stretch. They both hit
- 54:29Speaker 1: key shots down the stretch. You gotta have guys making
- 54:33Speaker 1: plays in the league because all these league games, almost
- 54:38Speaker 1: every one of them, it's.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Could be like this.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I mean, there'll be some blowouts, they'll be weird things happen,
- 54:44Speaker 1: but for the most part, in eighteen games, I don't know,
- 54:49Speaker 1: fourteen fourteen them are going to be down to the
