- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 28 already. Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And today we've got a fun one. We already know numbers 1 to 20 from earlier episodes. Luna: Right, we did 1 to 5, 6 to 10, and 11 to 20. So today we go higher? Lucas: Exactly. We're going to learn 21 to 30. In Cantonese, numbers after 20 are very logical. You just say the tens digit, then the unit. Luna: So for 21, it's like 'two ten one'? Lucas: Almost. Twenty is 二十, which is 'two ten'. Then 21 is 二十一 — two ten one. Luna: So 二十一? Let me try: 二十一. Lucas: Perfect. You said 二十一. Now 22 is 二十二. Luna: 二十二. That's easy. Lucas: Yeah. 23: 二十三. Luna: 二十三. And 24: 二十四. Lucas: Right. And 25: 二十五. Luna: 二十五. Okay, I'm seeing the pattern. So 26 would be 二十六? Lucas: Exactly. But we'll focus on 21-25 for now, plus 30. Thirty is 三十. Luna: 三十. So if I want to say 25, it's 二十五. Got it. Lucas: Let's practice with a quick scene. Imagine you're at a cafe and you want to order a coffee that costs 25 dollars. Luna: So I'd say: 我要咖啡 — 二十五蚊? Lucas: Yes! Though we haven't learned 'dollar' yet, but you got the idea. Let's try: 我要咖啡, 二十五蚊. Luna: 我要咖啡, 二十五蚊. Lucas: Sounds great. Now let's count from 21 to 25 together. Repeat after me: 二十一. Luna: 二十一. Lucas: 二十二. Luna: 二十二. Lucas: 二十三. Luna: 二十三. Lucas: 二十四. Luna: 二十四. Lucas: 二十五. Luna: 二十五. Lucas: And 三十. Luna: 三十. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's use them in a real context. Say you're buying apples. Each apple is 5 dollars. You want 5 apples, so total is 25 dollars. Luna: So I'd say: 我想要五個蘋果, 二十五蚊? But I don't know 'apple' in Cantonese yet. Lucas: That's okay. We learned 'apple' in episode 25. It's 蘋果. Luna: Oh right! 蘋果. So: 我想要五個蘋果, 二十五蚊. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's try a question: 'How much is it?' is 幾多錢? Let's keep it simple: 幾多? for 'how many' or 'how much'. Luna: So if I want to ask the price of something that costs 23 dollars, I'd say: 幾多錢? 二十三蚊? Lucas: Exactly. But let's practice the number alone first. Say 二十三. Luna: 二十三. Lucas: Good. Now imagine someone tells you the price is 30 dollars. How do you say 'thirty'? Luna: 三十. Lucas: Yes. And if you want to say 'I want 30 apples'? Luna: Oh that's a lot. 我想要三十個蘋果. Lucas: Perfect. You're a natural. Let's do a quick review. I'll say the number in English, you say it in Cantonese. Luna: Okay, bring it on. Lucas: 21. Luna: 二十一. Lucas: 22. Luna: 二十二. Lucas: 23. Luna: 二十三. Lucas: 24. Luna: 二十四. Lucas: 25. Luna: 二十五. Lucas: 30. Luna: 三十. Lucas: You did it. Now here's a fun challenge: try to say your age if you're 24. Luna: 我二十四歲? I think I heard that pattern before. 我二十四歲. Lucas: Exactly. 'I am 24 years old.' So if you're 25, you'd say? Luna: 我二十五歲. Lucas: Beautiful. And if you're 30? Luna: 我三十歲. Lucas: Fantastic. And for our listeners, don't worry if you're not 30 yet — you can practice with any number. Let's go over the phrases one more time. Repeat after me. Luna: Okay. Lucas: 二十一. Luna: 二十一. Lucas: 二十二. Luna: 二十二. Lucas: 二十三. Luna: 二十三. Lucas: 二十四. Luna: 二十四. Lucas: 二十五. Luna: 二十五. Lucas: 三十. Luna: 三十. Lucas: Awesome. You've got it. Now you can count from 1 to 30 in Cantonese. That's a big milestone. Luna: That feels great. Next episode, maybe we'll go to 40? Lucas: Maybe! But for now, practice these numbers. Use them when you order food or check prices. And remember, Fexingo has more episodes to help you on your Cantonese journey. Luna: Yeah, keep listening and practicing. See you next time! Lucas: 拜拜! Luna: 拜拜!
