- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't tell Mom.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to No Dribble. Very exciting for
- 0:23Speaker 2: us again in the studio. Two weeks in a row.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I was starting to think it wouldn't happen, and now
- 0:27Speaker 2: we're back in a rhythm of it. Hello, I'm Carolyn Swindell.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I am Catherine Cox, and I have a newfound Halloomi addiction.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Oh that is a good addiction, and I might like
- 0:38Speaker 4: to copy it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, It's always been there, but I feel like it's escalated.
- 0:43Speaker 5: I'm gonna stop buying it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Probably you copd at home?
- 0:46Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I do restrict myself to a couple of slight, little slices.
- 0:51Speaker 5: The slices are getting thicker, though.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Do you buy like, like, you know, there's not all
- 0:58Speaker 4: not all halomies are created equo oh wow, And so
- 1:01Speaker 4: like maybe you buy a Halloomi from you know, maybe
- 1:05Speaker 4: the Middle East or Grease or somewhere like that. That's
- 1:08Speaker 4: when it goes next left.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I don't I'm actually salivating at the thought of this
- 1:12Speaker 1: conversation on I'm just on the woolies one at the moment.
- 1:15Speaker 5: That's ticking my boxes.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I think you should spend the whole season doing like
- 1:21Speaker 4: a Halloumi review every week.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Is hard to please.
- 1:26Speaker 4: And then and then it's tax inductible, Cathroine.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Very nice. Only if we make an income, make a
- 1:32Speaker 2: tax deduction against an income.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So except the money that I'm saving, I'll be spending
- 1:37Speaker 1: on you outfits and clothes to work because my ass will.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Be I'll tell you what though, This is another thing
- 1:43Speaker 2: that is disadvantage. If you are a short person. If
- 1:46Speaker 2: I put on a kilo, you notice it. It's got
- 1:49Speaker 2: a long distance to spread across. That is true, isn't it.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I can fluctuate.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I reckon by about three killers, which happens a bit.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I can't tell too much. You can tell on yourself.
- 2:02Speaker 2: But do I look like I hate you because I do? Yeah?
- 2:05Speaker 4: I used to say three kilograms, but since menopause, I
- 2:07Speaker 4: tell myself like, I can fluctuate five day.
- 2:11Speaker 5: You just do whatever works for you on any given day.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And you know fluctuate means goes both ways, right, it's
- 2:16Speaker 2: not just adding. Okay, Yeah, that's bad. Speaking of menopause.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I've had a big week for looking after my health,
- 2:24Speaker 2: being very responsible. I went and had an internal ultrasound
- 2:28Speaker 2: this week. It's what fun?
- 2:29Speaker 6: Now?
- 2:29Speaker 5: Was that for fun or you were it's routine?
- 2:32Speaker 2: OK, So I'd say it's for fun, although the technician
- 2:36Speaker 2: was very kind and did warm up the gel, which
- 2:39Speaker 2: was very nice. But yeah, it's funny, isn't it. Sort
- 2:41Speaker 2: Of before you have kids, it's like you're much more
- 2:44Speaker 2: modest now, it's sort of like, look, anyone can have
- 2:46Speaker 2: a look on it. Really, we had this student coming, Sure, great,
- 2:52Speaker 2: how are you can have a go if you want. Anyway,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I did that because it is a very en cancer
- 2:59Speaker 2: awareness month. Actually that was just coincidence. I was going
- 3:02Speaker 2: to do it anyway. This was the month that they
- 3:03Speaker 2: gave me the appointment. But yes, it is February.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Is overarian Can I ask a question, and this might
- 3:08Speaker 1: be naive, does it perhaps may not cover that stuff?
- 3:10Speaker 2: It does not. That's the cervix. So this is a
- 3:13Speaker 2: problem with ovarian cancer. It's often not discovered until very
- 3:16Speaker 2: late because there isn't just a routine test for it.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So I don't have an elevated risk in my family.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I do have I'm massively neurotic, So I just go
- 3:24Speaker 2: and have this every couple of.
- 3:25Speaker 5: But so we should all be doing that?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well I don't know. Should we know? The medical
- 3:29Speaker 2: advice is not to do this on a routine basis
- 3:32Speaker 2: unless you have elevated risk. But if you are neurotic, yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I think, go and do it. So it's a bit
- 3:39Speaker 2: of a disease. Ivarian cancer.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Well, once dad got diagnosed last year, I went and
- 3:42Speaker 1: ticked all the boxes. Had the colonoscope, had perhaps me,
- 3:46Speaker 1: had the mammogram, did all that sort of stuff?
- 3:47Speaker 5: Did not do that though?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Okay, I might put.
- 3:50Speaker 5: That on my list of things to do. By HALLOOMI
- 3:52Speaker 5: have an internal ultrasound, right.
- 3:54Speaker 4: There is you can actually look at some symptoms. As
- 3:56Speaker 4: you were talking, Carolyn, I thought maybe there might be
- 4:00Speaker 4: a way to avoid the internal.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Good type of sound as often.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, unless you really like that sort of stuff.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But it's got to spare four hundred dollars and think,
- 4:10Speaker 2: I don't know what to do with this.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah, might shove it off up somewhere. Yeah, does this
- 4:17Speaker 4: come with batteries? No?
- 4:18Speaker 5: I got starting your Mother's Day present.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Share your wisdom with so I just thought i'd find
- 4:25Speaker 4: the symptoms of ovarian cancer, but sadly they're sort of
- 4:29Speaker 4: a bit vague, and sometimes they can be attributed to
- 4:32Speaker 4: other more common women's health problems like IBS or here
- 4:35Speaker 4: we go menopause, So but here we go. Some symptoms
- 4:38Speaker 4: include persistent abdominal distension, so women often refer to this
- 4:42Speaker 4: as bloating, feeling full shortly after starting to eat, and
- 4:46Speaker 4: slash or loss of appetite proxy. I think you're stuck
- 4:49Speaker 4: on that one. Pelvic are abdominal pain, which can feel
- 4:52Speaker 4: like indigestion, needing to urinate urgently, or more often, irregular
- 4:56Speaker 4: bowel movements, irregular menstrual type bleeding, sudden changes.
- 5:00Speaker 5: So Rocks, doesn't it as good, is it?
- 5:05Speaker 2: So yeah, if you have any of those, find a
- 5:07Speaker 2: doctor who'll listen to you.
- 5:08Speaker 4: So yeah, And it's just worth getting checked out, isn't it.
- 5:12Speaker 4: But like, I don't know, how do you have that conversation, Carolyn,
- 5:14Speaker 4: Like do you just go in and go listen? I'm neurotic.
- 5:16Speaker 4: I know that I don't have any sort of overly concerned.
- 5:19Speaker 2: That's exactly what I said, I would like this, And
- 5:23Speaker 2: he said, well, you know, if that's within your within
- 5:26Speaker 2: your budget. I think it's a great idea, So I
- 5:27Speaker 2: go along. You know, I have it's on every two years,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'll go and have the breast check and the mammogram.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Isn't that good times.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Not to offend, but because we are older and we're
- 5:37Speaker 1: in that category of they probably think it's worthwhile. But
- 5:40Speaker 1: if you're a thirty year old and decide you're a
- 5:42Speaker 1: bit neurotic and you want to go and get a check,
- 5:43Speaker 1: are they going to turn your way or they'd still
- 5:45Speaker 1: be honest.
- 5:45Speaker 2: They'll turn you away. I think they might discourage you
- 5:48Speaker 2: because it is expensive, and it's like, well, honestly, what
- 5:50Speaker 2: is this? Because I am so neurotic. I said I
- 5:53Speaker 2: want to have a brain scan at one stage, and
- 5:55Speaker 2: he talked me out of that because he said, look,
- 5:57Speaker 2: we're going to scan it and probably find nothing there.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But and then two weeks time from now, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 2: he said, you can't scan against aneurysms if there's no
- 6:05Speaker 2: other indicators or risks or whatever.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So you know what I've just done, which you might
- 6:08Speaker 1: be interested in them because it's another test that I
- 6:10Speaker 1: can go and do. Well, yeah, I'm clearly getting insane.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Let me tell you that I've just done a genetic
- 6:16Speaker 1: sequencing test, So you do you swamp and then you
- 6:20Speaker 1: send it away to a lab. It's in America, and
- 6:23Speaker 1: they scan for like hundreds of different things, that things
- 6:27Speaker 1: you might be a bit more susceptible to or whatever,
- 6:30Speaker 1: And it could be nothing. But I just thought, why
- 6:32Speaker 1: would I not, like, if that's information you could have
- 6:34Speaker 1: up your sleeve, if you're more chance of Alzheimer's or
- 6:37Speaker 1: whatever else.
- 6:37Speaker 5: I know it's still you're still going to get it.
- 6:39Speaker 1: But there's also lifestyle changes you could make now to prolong.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So yeah, I'll report back if anything.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I couldn't think if anything worse.
- 6:48Speaker 5: You'd rather not know.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'd.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Rather just try and look after myself, eat well, get exercise.
- 6:55Speaker 4: If I got that back, I would forever that would
- 6:58Speaker 4: just add to my list of things to worry.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I was definitely the same. But then I also thought,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but there's like I enjoy a wine, but if I
- 7:05Speaker 1: found out something rather, you know, like your more chance
- 7:08Speaker 1: of Alzheimer's or whatever, would probably cut back on it.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah. This is the problem, though, isn't it. If you're
- 7:14Speaker 2: not prepared to take the action, maybe ignorance is plis.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I don't know, but ivarian cancer scares me because usually
- 7:22Speaker 2: when people find out it's really late in the piece.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I had a girl friend died from ovarian cancer a
- 7:26Speaker 2: couple of months ago, and Sophie Fawns is an ambassador
- 7:30Speaker 2: for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation because she lost her
- 7:32Speaker 2: month to ovarian cancer. So it's just something to be
- 7:36Speaker 2: aware of with our ninety six percent female audience.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Isn't it sad though that it's got to be something
- 7:41Speaker 1: like your friend to trigger you into action.
- 7:43Speaker 5: But I mean that's the good that comes to me.
- 7:46Speaker 1: We've got a very good mate too, that we played
- 7:47Speaker 1: netball with right through Junior's had a mammogram in January
- 7:50Speaker 1: that was clear.
- 7:51Speaker 5: By July she had stage four breast cancer.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So that prompted me to go and get another check
- 7:57Speaker 1: because I thought, you just don't know. So I went
- 7:58Speaker 1: and had another mammogram an ultrasound. And that's a good time,
- 8:02Speaker 1: isn't it. If you've got smaller boobs or bigger boobs.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But either way, like you squished into that.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Machine that was designed by a man, a mamogram machine.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I imagine if we had to do that on their nuts,
- 8:15Speaker 2: it would be the most gentle experience. They would redesign
- 8:19Speaker 2: that machine and a heart.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And there would be a lineup of women paying good
- 8:22Speaker 1: money to see it.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Can I ever go?
- 8:29Speaker 4: Oh, that is so true. Actually I went recently and
- 8:34Speaker 4: had a mammogram. I put it up on my socials
- 8:36Speaker 4: just to remind everyone to go and do it. But
- 8:38Speaker 4: as I walked in, the lady said, oh, I recognize you,
- 8:42Speaker 4: That's what she was. No, do you recognize my face
- 8:46Speaker 4: or my boob? Your face? And the time before I
- 8:49Speaker 4: had a mammogram, the woman who did my mammogram, my
- 8:51Speaker 4: sister used to teach her. And that is the problem
- 8:54Speaker 4: with living in a small town where your sister taught everybody.
- 8:57Speaker 4: And so we had this whole conversation while she was
- 8:59Speaker 4: squash my boobs into the mammograt, thing about oh I
- 9:02Speaker 4: loved your teeth, and your sister she was this and
- 9:03Speaker 4: she was that, and I'm like, just squash. She wasn't
- 9:06Speaker 4: talking about your sister's boobs, so was she she's too, Yes, exactly.
- 9:11Speaker 2: When I was in university, I was living in a
- 9:14Speaker 2: sharehouse with a guy. He was doing a specialty and
- 9:17Speaker 2: opthalmic specialty or whatever. But so he had friends who
- 9:20Speaker 2: had been to med school with her were GPS, and
- 9:22Speaker 2: I was very diligent with getting my perhaps smears, which
- 9:25Speaker 2: you had to do every two years. Then now it's
- 9:27Speaker 2: every five years. Happy days. But I went into just
- 9:29Speaker 2: a random GP and walked in and it was one
- 9:33Speaker 2: of his mates and it's like, what are you here for?
- 9:35Speaker 2: I said, oh, I got a cold.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Again.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Though nowadays i'd go, look, I don't have time to
- 9:49Speaker 2: reschedule this. Let's go. It's going to be awkward for
- 9:51Speaker 2: us both, but this is your job.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Be a professional, exactly, and yours is not the first
- 9:56Speaker 4: one they've seen, indeed.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Probably the best. But what the perkiest about anyway? So
- 10:03Speaker 2: you fainted at Parliament House? We did promise we'd talk
- 10:05Speaker 2: about that. Do you want to share about that now
- 10:08Speaker 2: or did you want to share about other traumatic experience?
- 10:11Speaker 4: Well?
- 10:11Speaker 1: I have had another traumatic experience literally just before I
- 10:14Speaker 1: walked in here to do this podcast. It wasn't actually traumatic,
- 10:16Speaker 1: but it was interesting. I just don't understand people. Shall
- 10:19Speaker 1: I get back to that story or should we do
- 10:21Speaker 1: that first?
- 10:21Speaker 2: I feel like you've got some issues that you need
- 10:23Speaker 2: to get off your chest.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Now I've got a lot go This is my hour
- 10:26Speaker 1: of therapy. Minus the couch. This is a good time
- 10:30Speaker 1: to event. So yeah, so I do look forward to
- 10:32Speaker 1: this part of the week.
- 10:32Speaker 2: It is my hour of therapy.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And just before we walked in we've spoken about before
- 10:38Speaker 1: what a ship fight it is to park around. Yeah,
- 10:39Speaker 1: for those that don't know Sydney, it's basically in a
- 10:42Speaker 1: city where we are where we do the podcast.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Double White lines people doing U turns across as stealing
- 10:47Speaker 2: other Laura abiding citizens parks.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I did it again today because I found the money.
- 10:52Speaker 1: One right out the front anyway, So I get that
- 10:53Speaker 1: car park and then another woman in front of me.
- 10:57Speaker 1: There's a car park there, but it's probably a mini
- 11:00Speaker 1: size car. Par She rocks up in a territory of
- 11:02Speaker 1: some sort and decide she wants to reverse into it.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And I'm sitting in.
- 11:06Speaker 5: My car thinking, there's no way in the world.
- 11:09Speaker 1: How much time do you give someone to have a
- 11:10Speaker 1: crack at this and then give up and take off.
- 11:13Speaker 5: She persisted and persisted and persisted.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Until she hit my car. Ah, I'm sitting in the car.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Just happened now, But she didn't ram into it. She
- 11:23Speaker 1: was so close and I thought for sure her senses
- 11:27Speaker 1: are going off their heads inside her car, and then
- 11:30Speaker 1: she like it's like she pushed the whole car ooh,
- 11:34Speaker 1: like she was really trying to nudge herself in there anyway.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And then she just removes, goes a bit forward and.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Parks the car.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You can't get any more gap in between both cars
- 11:42Speaker 1: either end anyway. So I get out, gobsmacked, go and
- 11:45Speaker 1: knock on a window and she turns around and winds
- 11:48Speaker 1: a window and I said, you just hit my car.
- 11:50Speaker 1: She said, what did I I said, you've got to
- 11:55Speaker 1: be kidding me. My whole car literally just got shoved back.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And she said oh, and she jumps out of the
- 12:00Speaker 1: car and she goes.
- 12:01Speaker 5: There's no damage. I said, how can you tell if
- 12:03Speaker 5: there's any damage? The cars are that close together. I said,
- 12:07Speaker 5: I'll take a photo of your number plate, and she goes, oh.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Calm down.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I literally started laughing. I said, I'm sorry, and I
- 12:17Speaker 1: don't yell at anyone.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I don't feel like there's ever any excuse to.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yell at someone. You can still get your point across.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I said, excuse me, you just hit my car and
- 12:27Speaker 1: you're telling me to calm down. And then she cracked it.
- 12:30Speaker 1: She goes, I'm taking a photo of your number plate.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Then I said, knock yourselfe out.
- 12:34Speaker 5: What are you going to do with that? Anyway? So
- 12:37Speaker 5: then she just jumps in the car.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Okay, she left.
- 12:41Speaker 5: I no, no, she stayed in the car, but she
- 12:42Speaker 5: just wanted to get away from me.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Oh sorry, So she got out to come and have
- 12:45Speaker 1: a look, got back in a car and just decided
- 12:47Speaker 1: that was the end of that conversation.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Oh wow, what is wrong with people?
- 12:51Speaker 6: Do you know?
- 12:52Speaker 4: I mean, not to minimize what just happened, but apparently
- 12:55Speaker 4: in New York they do buff parking. It's literally a thing.
- 12:58Speaker 2: It's just a little.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Kiss, it's a love tap. It was fine, and if
- 13:01Speaker 1: I'd done it, I would be in the same shoes.
- 13:03Speaker 1: But I'm like, just acknowledged, just apologies. That's fine, That's
- 13:06Speaker 1: all I want from you.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, you know, quite often when you've
- 13:10Speaker 2: done the wrong thing, if you're embarrassed, your reaction is
- 13:13Speaker 2: not the one that half an hour later you think,
- 13:15Speaker 2: you know, you wish the number of times that I've
- 13:17Speaker 2: sort of got defensive and then got on the front
- 13:19Speaker 2: foot and then just even ten minutes later going I'm
- 13:22Speaker 2: so embarrassed about that. That was just wrong. But anyway,
- 13:25Speaker 2: I assume. I assume that's what she's done.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the car is probably fine, but still
- 13:30Speaker 1: thought for insurance purposes, I'll just be taking a good today.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Yeah nay, did you get her details?
- 13:36Speaker 1: No, she wasn't giving me anything. So that's so I
- 13:38Speaker 1: thought I'd just take a little shot.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Told her, I do.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I have to say I admire her though. If I
- 13:42Speaker 2: get a reverse park wrong. Once I'm gone, I drive away.
- 13:45Speaker 2: That is there wouldn't let us never speak of this again.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I just it didn't happen. I was never here.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I would drive up so I'm parallel with the spot
- 13:54Speaker 1: to see if I'm any chance of fitting first. Right,
- 13:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, like this woman, there was no chance
- 13:59Speaker 1: it was going to happened, but she persisted.
- 14:01Speaker 5: So yes, you're right. It's like, what is wrong with you.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Alaiting to get out? Shell like to bump your car
- 14:08Speaker 4: again out?
- 14:08Speaker 5: Yeah, totally she will.
- 14:10Speaker 1: She's probably doing now and putting some force behind it
- 14:12Speaker 1: now that I've got Actually, that was not well played.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Was it.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Territories Do they have cameras? Maybe they don't, so that's
- 14:21Speaker 2: her excuse.
- 14:22Speaker 5: Needs to update a vehicle.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Can I talk about a little bit of netball? That's happened.
- 14:27Speaker 2: She probably already heard about this. It was quite shocking.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So in the Saturday morning indoor summer comp that my
- 14:36Speaker 2: daughter plays in on the weekend was a semi final
- 14:39Speaker 2: and they drew it and then they were knocked out
- 14:42Speaker 2: because the other team was higher in the ladder. They
- 14:44Speaker 2: did not play any extra time. They just went off. Sorry,
- 14:47Speaker 2: admin says, they go through and you don't, and it's like,
- 14:50Speaker 2: I get it, it's the rule for everyone. We should
- 14:52Speaker 2: have won it. But oh man, who was so hollow.
- 14:56Speaker 2: It's like, ah, look, we're happy to lose, but we
- 14:59Speaker 2: didn't lose. And yeah, so second went through to the
- 15:02Speaker 2: grand final and food gets a bag of lollie snakes
- 15:05Speaker 2: and the parents cursing under their breast but saying it's fine, darling,
- 15:09Speaker 2: you played. Well, it's just summer netball, don't worry about it.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Well, for years of National League they did that, really, Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 1: like the big two reckon when.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Well, it's probably a little bit worse, but it's worse
- 15:20Speaker 5: for everyone.
- 15:21Speaker 1: The whole stadium just is like, oh, yeah, like give
- 15:25Speaker 1: us another two minutes just to get a result out
- 15:28Speaker 1: of this thing.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's horrible.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the worst so, yeah, that's really frustrating, particularly
- 15:33Speaker 1: when you knocked out.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And the other thing I would like your opinion on
- 15:37Speaker 2: my observation unscientific is that the kids who throw the
- 15:41Speaker 2: most elbows in the games are the first ones to
- 15:43Speaker 2: go to water if something happens to them. Like it's
- 15:45Speaker 2: just the agro kids will cry and the other kids
- 15:49Speaker 2: are just haven't observed that. I just feel like it's
- 15:52Speaker 2: almost every time when you're watching someone and going that
- 15:55Speaker 2: kid is throwing a lot of elbows and is playing
- 15:57Speaker 2: very aggressively. Soon as anything happens to them, they go
- 16:00Speaker 2: to tears.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Now are you saying that because when you go over
- 16:02Speaker 1: and elbowed them on the way out. No, we don't
- 16:08Speaker 1: endorse that sort of behavior here.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Do you know there was some other netball happening this weekend?
- 16:13Speaker 4: Did you?
- 16:14Speaker 2: So we've just moved on from the tragedy of my
- 16:16Speaker 2: daughter's semi final?
- 16:16Speaker 1: Is that.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I don't know what do you want from us?
- 16:20Speaker 2: I'm not entirelysh or validation.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I feel there's a background. Do you feel better?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Thank you very much? Okay, thank you?
- 16:27Speaker 4: Clear?
- 16:27Speaker 2: What other netball happened?
- 16:29Speaker 4: Well? The Pacific Series happens Australian Netbill series happened and
- 16:33Speaker 4: Samoa wanted at Scotland by two goals and Christiana Manua.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Sorry in Scotland. Why is Scotland playing in the Pacific
- 16:40Speaker 2: Netball Series.
- 16:41Speaker 4: It's an excellent question, but this.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Is like Australia and Eurovision, isn't it right now?
- 16:46Speaker 4: Well, wouldn't you want Scotland? Well, the Scotland, I think
- 16:48Speaker 4: because Cat Tetley, who was the general manager of the
- 16:50Speaker 4: Swifts is now coaching Scotland. That's my best Scotland Scotland.
- 16:55Speaker 4: But I thought it was great. So Samoa went through undefeated,
- 16:58Speaker 4: They've never won it before and they won a really
- 17:01Speaker 4: exciting grand final. So that was the big netball that
- 17:04Speaker 4: happened on the weekend.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Who did you say, Christiana Manuua?
- 17:07Speaker 4: Christiana Manua, I'm going to.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Say it now too, Christiana Manua.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm well done. Everyone.
- 17:14Speaker 4: That is exciting.
- 17:15Speaker 2: There's there's some good talk going off in the Facebook
- 17:18Speaker 2: chat too that we will talk about son. We will
- 17:20Speaker 2: come to some scheduling questions that the Dribblers are debating hotly. Okay.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I feel like we need to get Parliament House quickly
- 17:27Speaker 1: tipped off though, because we keep talking about it.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Talking about it. So we went down to Parliament House
- 17:31Speaker 4: for the FOXHEL showcase. Catherine was there as a Fox
- 17:34Speaker 4: Cel commentator and I was there as a chair of
- 17:36Speaker 4: Netball Australia and we're all you go in and you
- 17:38Speaker 4: have all these photos taken and we had a photo
- 17:40Speaker 4: taken with the Prime Minister. It was very exciting and
- 17:43Speaker 4: chatting away and then there was the formalities of the
- 17:46Speaker 4: evening and some ministers spoke and during the speech of
- 17:49Speaker 4: one minister someone there's a bit of a kerfuffle just
- 17:53Speaker 4: the left hand side of me, and I saw, I
- 17:57Speaker 4: saw Timbo I don't even see that. I saw Paige
- 18:02Speaker 4: Hadley and Alyssa Heally. Yes, I saw on page toddly
- 18:06Speaker 4: Melissa Heally sort of looking really concerned. And then Alyssa
- 18:09Speaker 4: went and got half a glass of water that someone
- 18:12Speaker 4: had started to drink and left on a table and
- 18:15Speaker 4: pass it to page and Page went behind this sort
- 18:18Speaker 4: of big advertising banner and I thought, what are they
- 18:21Speaker 4: watering a plant for in the middle of stage.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I'm so hoping that they watered the plant right in
- 18:27Speaker 2: the face to wake her up. Please tell me that's
- 18:29Speaker 2: where the story goes.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Well, not really, but so and then Paige was looking
- 18:34Speaker 4: at me and saying something, but I am hopeless. I
- 18:36Speaker 4: cannot lip read right, I cannot.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I'm like what what?
- 18:44Speaker 4: I don't get it?
- 18:45Speaker 2: And I just had an idea for a new segment
- 18:48Speaker 2: on No Dribbook lip reading, seeing if Liz could guess
- 18:54Speaker 2: what we're saying when when you're reading started an easy.
- 18:58Speaker 4: One non drives my husband insane, right when we're doing
- 19:02Speaker 4: stuff on the farm and he's in the tractor and
- 19:04Speaker 4: he tries to tell me things and I'm like, no,
- 19:06Speaker 4: I don't even so Page just trying to tell me
- 19:12Speaker 4: something really quietly. And as luck would have it, we're
- 19:15Speaker 4: at the front of this function and I'm like what what?
- 19:18Speaker 4: And then one of the senior executives at Fox was
- 19:20Speaker 4: standing next to me and she hit me and she goes,
- 19:22Speaker 4: it's cat and I'm like, oh, oh, so I poked
- 19:25Speaker 4: my head behind and Cox he's sort of sitting there
- 19:28Speaker 4: with her head in her hands, and Alyssa heally. He's
- 19:30Speaker 4: saying to her, drink this, and Kat goes, where'd you
- 19:33Speaker 4: get it from? She goes, I don't know someone else
- 19:35Speaker 4: had drank it, but you might as well finish it.
- 19:39Speaker 4: So I'm like no, No, that's a bit jermy, but
- 19:43Speaker 4: funny still. So I thought I'll sneak up to the stage,
- 19:46Speaker 4: and it is the only place that I could see.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Someone had left on the stage four glasses of water.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I thought, I'll sneak up. The problem was I was
- 19:54Speaker 4: dressed in a bright orange suit, so I looked like
- 19:59Speaker 4: a giant fire hydrant trying to sneak happening.
- 20:03Speaker 1: The funniest thing though, the official photos come out the
- 20:05Speaker 1: next day and there's a three shot of Liz like
- 20:09Speaker 1: like nearly at the stage, halfway at the stage, getting
- 20:12Speaker 1: the water at the stage.
- 20:13Speaker 5: And I seen the three photos through door, and I said,
- 20:15Speaker 5: oh my god, you're.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Such a good friend, but you make a terrible spy.
- 20:21Speaker 3: The new thing was.
- 20:23Speaker 4: God to say. When I looked over, I got tired.
- 20:26Speaker 4: It was Cat. I looked over, and you probably don't
- 20:28Speaker 4: realize this, but your feet were poking out underneath the
- 20:31Speaker 4: advertising manner.
- 20:35Speaker 5: It's except they were a little ruby red, just steel.
- 20:45Speaker 1: The shoes off her feet and groping size and easy steps.
- 20:51Speaker 1: But the problem, so in my defense, the problem with
- 20:54Speaker 1: this event, and every year I find it really difficult
- 20:57Speaker 1: because it's three or four hours of standing basically still
- 21:01Speaker 1: and I don't wear heels.
- 21:03Speaker 5: I avoid them at all costs.
- 21:05Speaker 1: It was really hot in there as well, and I
- 21:07Speaker 1: had a suit on, and we had gone straight from
- 21:10Speaker 1: the plane, straight to hair and makeup, straight to this event,
- 21:13Speaker 1: and I hadn't really eaten much, and I had my
- 21:16Speaker 1: beverage of HALLOOMI my beverage of choice. When I got
- 21:19Speaker 1: there was a champagne stead of a glass of water,
- 21:21Speaker 1: so that was probably my own fault. But I could
- 21:23Speaker 1: feel myself going and I just got really hot and
- 21:26Speaker 1: took my jacket off and then I just got super sweaty,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and I could feel myself starting to faint. So I
- 21:33Speaker 1: grabbed page and said, I'm going to faint, and fortunately
- 21:36Speaker 1: there was this advertising banner right there.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Otherwise I would have been plum.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Face down in the middle of the speeches, and so
- 21:43Speaker 1: I got behind it and lowered myself to the ground.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I didn't completely pass out, but it was about to happen.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And then Alyssa Heally, that was the first time I
- 21:51Speaker 1: spent any quality time with her.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Is an absolute pisser.
- 21:56Speaker 1: She's the top list of my favorite people in the
- 21:58Speaker 1: world now and a bloody lead, just absolutely but she
- 22:01Speaker 1: keep coming around the partition. He coxy drinking this coating
- 22:05Speaker 1: this water. I don't know whose it is, but it's
- 22:07Speaker 1: got a red lips to God. And this one was
- 22:10Speaker 1: taking the piss out of me the whole time. I said,
- 22:12Speaker 1: go away, I'm trying to be inconspicuous.
- 22:15Speaker 4: And then she said to me, so all these waiters
- 22:18Speaker 4: cat started running towards Catherine with like water and stuff,
- 22:21Speaker 4: and Alissa goes, any chance of a wine, I due
- 22:24Speaker 4: four one.
- 22:28Speaker 5: We did that laughter at the after party.
- 22:32Speaker 4: If you got your second, you got your you got
- 22:34Speaker 4: your second win. But I did love. I do think
- 22:37Speaker 4: that like once you've played a team sport like you
- 22:39Speaker 4: don't panic in situations like that. You just take the
- 22:41Speaker 4: mickey out of the person who's fainted.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you use it as an opportunity for merce fantastic dear,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I've got a new job for you, Liz. What well,
- 22:51Speaker 2: So Friday night I was on Hma or Sydney. I
- 22:54Speaker 2: don't know. I want to say a frigate. Maybe it's
- 22:56Speaker 2: a destroyer, I don't know. No one cares. It's a
- 22:58Speaker 2: navy ship. It was a cocktail function for the Infant's Home,
- 23:02Speaker 2: which is Australia's second dollars charity. I used to be
- 23:04Speaker 2: on the board, but the Governor General was there, and
- 23:08Speaker 2: I'm thinking you could do that job really well in
- 23:10Speaker 2: about ten years. So I don't know. I don't think
- 23:12Speaker 2: you can apply for it. I think basically the system
- 23:15Speaker 2: is usually I nominate someone and they become Governor General.
- 23:18Speaker 2: That might be the new system. Don't know. But I
- 23:20Speaker 2: was listening to Sam Mouston, who is a very she's
- 23:23Speaker 2: every days and compelling speaker and remarkable, and I thought,
- 23:27Speaker 2: I know someone else who could do that job quite well.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Frank Ahead, Yeah, on a head.
- 23:32Speaker 4: You could no, no, but you know it actually apparently
- 23:35Speaker 4: it sort of takes over your life a bit.
- 23:37Speaker 5: So oh like being chair of ABLELL Australia.
- 23:39Speaker 4: This, Yeah, here's someone that might only have one of
- 23:42Speaker 4: those in me in my lifetime and this is it.
- 23:44Speaker 4: But Sam Mouston is amazing. I got to visit her
- 23:47Speaker 4: last weoking at her residence in Yara Lamla and she
- 23:50Speaker 4: is an amazing human. Yeah, And not once did I
- 23:55Speaker 4: during that meeting think I could do your job. I thought,
- 23:57Speaker 4: I just want to listen to you tour.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Every time she talks about being the Governor General, she says,
- 24:02Speaker 2: as your governor general. And it's like, that's kind of cool.
- 24:05Speaker 2: That's right, you know, because I have I feel no
- 24:08Speaker 2: connection to that position. But I don't know. You know,
- 24:11Speaker 2: maybe many governors general in the past have and it
- 24:14Speaker 2: is governor's general, not governor generals, thank you, Maybe many
- 24:17Speaker 2: of them have done the same thing. I haven't really
- 24:20Speaker 2: been paying attention, but I really like that as your
- 24:22Speaker 2: governor general, I need to do blah. And it's like, yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 2: that's cool, that's that's a nice way to connect.
- 24:27Speaker 5: So we need to get a list of things together
- 24:29Speaker 5: for Ellis to do, to work on so reading.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Okay, to be a good lip breeder, to be governor
- 24:37Speaker 2: general in case the monarch tells you to do something.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Well, in case they whisper. So I can't when people
- 24:42Speaker 4: whisper to me, I can't understand.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Can you see me?
- 24:44Speaker 6: Now?
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 24:45Speaker 5: Okay, what am I saying?
- 24:46Speaker 4: Ready?
- 24:48Speaker 5: I love elephant, I said elephant shoe.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to go one or the other?
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:54Speaker 4: Yeah, but perhaps if how do you guys go? I thought,
- 24:57Speaker 4: she said, hello, I've already had How do you go
- 25:03Speaker 4: with whispering? When you know, when people whisper, like when
- 25:05Speaker 4: my kids whisper me I'm like, I can't understand you.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Oh God, no idea.
- 25:09Speaker 5: I love a good whisper, do you.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Harper doesn't understand though they're not putting your hand
- 25:13Speaker 1: in front of your face.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Put your hand down.
- 25:18Speaker 4: And we'll help a hat it have had a birthday.
- 25:22Speaker 1: It was I don't know what you guys do for birthdays,
- 25:24Speaker 1: but I'm kind of over the parties. Like I feel like,
- 25:28Speaker 1: maybe for the big milestone birthday so she'll be ten
- 25:30Speaker 1: next year, maybe the double digits warrants are party, but
- 25:33Speaker 1: it's a couple of kids, so she gets to have
- 25:35Speaker 1: two of her favorites, and then you can do more
- 25:37Speaker 1: because it's not as expensive obviously.
- 25:39Speaker 5: But it went on.
- 25:40Speaker 1: So I thought, I'll give her the choice of what
- 25:42Speaker 1: she wants to do today and then we'll see what
- 25:44Speaker 1: that looks like in old Veto or not. So firstly
- 25:48Speaker 1: we went ice skating, and to see them hanging onto
- 25:51Speaker 1: the outside of the rink for the first hour and
- 25:55Speaker 1: not doing anything else as they skated around, I thought,
- 25:58Speaker 1: this is going to be the longest two hours of
- 26:00Speaker 1: my life.
- 26:01Speaker 2: And it was did you don the skates?
- 26:03Speaker 3: No?
- 26:03Speaker 5: Okay, because isn't that the beauty of doing a kid's activities.
- 26:07Speaker 3: You can.
- 26:07Speaker 1: They can go and do it and entertain themselves and
- 26:10Speaker 1: I get two hours a piece. Oh okay, yeah, except
- 26:13Speaker 1: I had to take videos and stuff.
- 26:14Speaker 5: Anyway.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Then she wanted McDonald's for lunch, so we went and
- 26:17Speaker 1: did that with their friends. Then we went home and
- 26:19Speaker 1: had birthday cake and then rock climbing, so my theory
- 26:23Speaker 1: of the two hours of peace in activities. I get
- 26:26Speaker 1: there and the lady said, okay, so you'll have to
- 26:28Speaker 1: put the harness on because they'll need someone to belay
- 26:31Speaker 1: for them. I said, I'm sorry, what, Yeah, I have
- 26:34Speaker 1: to do it, and she said yes. I said, can't
- 26:36Speaker 1: they do it for each other? No, they're they're underage.
- 26:38Speaker 1: They can't do it for each other. I said, not
- 26:40Speaker 1: to be rude about this, but can I pay extra
- 26:43Speaker 1: for someone else to.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Do it, because this is really of sitting and doing
- 26:50Speaker 5: nothing while they entertained themselves.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So no.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Next minute, and I've got no clothes on for this.
- 26:55Speaker 5: It was a hot day. I had jeans on because
- 26:57Speaker 5: we've just been at the ice ring, and next minute,
- 26:59Speaker 5: I've got this harness on buoying the kids up and
- 27:03Speaker 5: down these stupid things.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I love indoor rock climbing, but it smells.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, and they have the one way you went too's
- 27:11Speaker 5: got a dark tunnel.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Oh, I know that.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I know that it is revolting it and my as
- 27:16Speaker 1: soon as Harper crawled in, they're all excited. My I
- 27:19Speaker 1: started to get claustrophobic myself, and I thought none.
- 27:23Speaker 5: So they have underneath the rock climbing thing.
- 27:25Speaker 1: They've got basically a hole in the wall and it's
- 27:28Speaker 1: a tunnel that goes all the way through and out,
- 27:31Speaker 1: but it's pitch black dark.
- 27:32Speaker 2: It's not that far. It's only sort of about maybe
- 27:35Speaker 2: fifteen meters long, but there is a turn in it
- 27:37Speaker 2: so you can't see in the beginning where you're going.
- 27:39Speaker 2: And then you have you done this? Yeah, yeah, you wouldn't.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I would not fit.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm I'm marginal for it.
- 27:46Speaker 5: But how did you know that you were going to fit?
- 27:48Speaker 5: I wouldn't risk that. What if you got stuck in there?
- 27:52Speaker 2: You didn't think of that?
- 27:53Speaker 5: So oh nah, you do that, Elie.
- 27:57Speaker 4: We crawl through a dark hole.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what she did her career on doing shit like.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Well, I would, but I was worried when I went
- 28:06Speaker 4: into the jungle for celebrity that I would have to
- 28:09Speaker 4: do something like that, and I was very grateful that
- 28:10Speaker 4: I didn't. I'd do it, but I wouldn't enjoy it.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Do you remember Ozzie Camp. We had one in Adelaide
- 28:15Speaker 1: and the Sas Police were running.
- 28:17Speaker 4: It for us, and it was all star force.
- 28:19Speaker 2: That's it.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It was all this crazy stuff, like we had to
- 28:22Speaker 1: run a mountain and forty degree where that we got
- 28:25Speaker 1: woken up at three o'clock in the morning to go
- 28:28Speaker 1: for a run. We had to do all this crazy stuff.
- 28:29Speaker 1: But one of them was this. They called it the
- 28:31Speaker 1: mouse trap, I think, and it was designed to test
- 28:35Speaker 1: your claustrophobia and being able to be in the small
- 28:38Speaker 1: spaces and whatever else. So but you could literally fit
- 28:40Speaker 1: one person in it and then we all had to
- 28:43Speaker 1: go in, one behind the other. The problem for us though, well,
- 28:47Speaker 1: Kath Harby, the captain at the time, was the first
- 28:49Speaker 1: one in. She got about half a body length in
- 28:52Speaker 1: and went nut and pulled out. But I was behind
- 28:55Speaker 1: I think Peter Shoalz Peter Squire at the time. She
- 28:58Speaker 1: had a melt down halfway through, so we're stuck in
- 29:02Speaker 1: there behind her and just had to calm her down
- 29:05Speaker 1: to get her through otherwise, like I started to panic
- 29:08Speaker 1: at that point, I forgot about that. Yeah. Really, I
- 29:11Speaker 1: think that's where my biggest fear of claustrophobia came from,
- 29:14Speaker 1: because I was okay until she lost it.
- 29:17Speaker 2: And that's so interesting how contagious city is. Yeah, and
- 29:20Speaker 2: it's like when kids start vomiting. If one vomits, they
- 29:22Speaker 2: all go out in sympathy too.
- 29:23Speaker 5: It's like a yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so no ever
- 29:27Speaker 5: since then, Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 2: This is not a long tunnel, so it's but it is.
- 29:32Speaker 2: It's not pleasant and it is designed for children, so
- 29:35Speaker 2: people like me should stay out of it.
- 29:36Speaker 4: No, but sorry.
- 29:37Speaker 1: My thing was when she went in there completely forgot
- 29:39Speaker 1: where we were going with the story. But when she
- 29:41Speaker 1: went in, I was.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Like, ah, are you sure? Are you sure?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Because I started to get really nervous, and I'm like,
- 29:46Speaker 1: don't make her have your fears, don't make her have
- 29:50Speaker 1: your fears.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Anyway, she's in there and I'm are you okay, and
- 29:53Speaker 5: she'd yelled back, how are you going?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:55Speaker 5: Good?
- 29:56Speaker 1: So I was in communication with her, but I was
- 29:58Speaker 1: trying so hard not to freak her out because I
- 30:02Speaker 1: was freaked out.
- 30:03Speaker 5: And she came out or smiling and wanted to do
- 30:05Speaker 5: it again and again and again. It's okay.
- 30:08Speaker 2: There's a big Buddhist temple in Osaka where down at
- 30:11Speaker 2: the bottom of the Buddha is a small thing that
- 30:13Speaker 2: you can crawl through and if you can do it
- 30:15Speaker 2: gives you good luck. And it's obviously designed for children.
- 30:19Speaker 2: But when I was there last time, there was someone
- 30:21Speaker 2: who really just a little bit underestimated their own size
- 30:25Speaker 2: and stark. But you know, the staff just dealt with it.
- 30:30Speaker 3: What do they do.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Look, if you put yourself in, you can get yourself out.
- 30:35Speaker 2: It's just sort of a little matter of helping, dragging
- 30:38Speaker 2: and yeah, so this isn't long though. This thing's only
- 30:40Speaker 2: like a sort of you've got your feet sticking out
- 30:42Speaker 2: one end in your head's already out.
- 30:44Speaker 5: The other wad, So it's not.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I would too, Thank you, Catherine. Excuse man, excuse man.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I want to talk about something that our dribblers all
- 30:57Speaker 2: not all many are talking about on Facebook at the moment.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It's a question raised by driblat cath Edgar, Thank you,
- 31:03Speaker 2: cav And it's about the overlap between the scheduling of
- 31:06Speaker 2: Rep carnivals and sun Corp Super Netball games. Now, as
- 31:10Speaker 2: you would expect in dribbling world. There are lots of
- 31:13Speaker 2: people with very reasonable responses and it's sort of so
- 31:17Speaker 2: apparently the scheduling of the REP carnivals occurs, say at
- 31:22Speaker 2: the end of last year, before the before the sun
- 31:25Speaker 2: Corp Super Netball schedule is released, but they are talking
- 31:27Speaker 2: about this is a hot group of potential audience members
- 31:32Speaker 2: to go to a sun Corp Super Netball team who
- 31:34Speaker 2: then just dealt out of this by having to be
- 31:37Speaker 2: involved in the in the REP carnivals that happened at
- 31:39Speaker 2: the same time. So I just thought it was a
- 31:42Speaker 2: really interesting discussion.
- 31:43Speaker 1: What does happen on the flip side, which is so
- 31:46Speaker 1: great is when quite often there is a REP carnival
- 31:49Speaker 1: in whatever city they have the day before or the
- 31:53Speaker 1: day after, they have all of the kids go and
- 31:56Speaker 1: cheer for the teams. Don't that lyst because I think
- 31:58Speaker 1: Evelyn's been with So.
- 32:00Speaker 4: Wednesday Champs run in New South Wales, there was all
- 32:02Speaker 4: the country kids. It's the only opportunity they have to
- 32:04Speaker 4: go to a game, so they all get in there
- 32:06Speaker 4: and go and get about three and a half minutes
- 32:08Speaker 4: sleep and then get up and play all the next day.
- 32:10Speaker 2: It's fantastic and that's actually been acknowledged by one of
- 32:13Speaker 2: the one of the dribblers too that did about that
- 32:15Speaker 2: with the someone traveling regionally. I'm so excited. At the
- 32:18Speaker 2: same time, we can buy tickets to see Firebirds. That's
- 32:21Speaker 2: Kaylee Bloxham Green thank you.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Yeah, look and it's I guess it's a tough one right.
- 32:25Speaker 4: So it's all the stuff that the sport has to
- 32:28Speaker 4: consider when things like this gets scheduled.
- 32:29Speaker 3: But what do you do?
- 32:31Speaker 4: Do you not have Rep Carnivals? Do you not play
- 32:35Speaker 4: super NETBWL games on a Sunday? I don't know.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no winner, is there, because you've got to
- 32:40Speaker 1: play Rep Carnival on the weekend. So does the sun
- 32:42Speaker 1: Corps super NETBW There's going to be obvious clushes. But
- 32:45Speaker 1: on that note, I want to do a shout out
- 32:46Speaker 1: to Ramwick Netball. So we had a net set Go
- 32:49Speaker 1: appearance there not that long ago, and I was talking
- 32:52Speaker 1: to their president about all the stuff they were doing there.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Down at Hefron Park. Down at the courts, they've got
- 32:57Speaker 1: this massive outdoor shelter. It covers a few of the
- 33:00Speaker 1: courts so if they ever do have rain, they've got cover.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It's not officially inclosed, so it's not considered indoor. They're
- 33:07Speaker 1: doing more of that, but she said they're also putting
- 33:09Speaker 1: at a jumbo screen, a big jumbo tron or whatever
- 33:12Speaker 1: you want.
- 33:13Speaker 5: To call it, so that the players don't miss out
- 33:15Speaker 5: on watching the sun court when they're down there. Isn't
- 33:18Speaker 5: that fantastic?
- 33:20Speaker 2: And meanwhile at Meadow Bank, which used to be landfill,
- 33:23Speaker 2: we've got half the courts are out because they've got subsidence,
- 33:26Speaker 2: so they're dangerous to play on because you roll an
- 33:28Speaker 2: ankle or possibly drown if there's any rain the night before.
- 33:32Speaker 2: So ah, please can we get our courts redone?
- 33:35Speaker 5: Yeah? There's always something, isn't there? But yeah, very nice.
- 33:39Speaker 4: That's interesting.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Good job.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so Rambic the' got covers, Yeah for rain that'd
- 33:44Speaker 4: be good. For Sun's safe as well.
- 33:45Speaker 3: It is.
- 33:46Speaker 5: It is really good.
- 33:47Speaker 1: They're obviously doing a lot of great work down there.
- 33:49Speaker 1: They also actually contact to me about they're doing a
- 33:52Speaker 1: Legends dinner and they're unveiling a Walk of Fame down
- 33:55Speaker 1: there to honor the six Australian diamonds that have come
- 33:58Speaker 1: from Ramwick.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Oh nice, just really.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Cool stuff and thinking of their heritage and wanting people
- 34:05Speaker 1: to know, you know, who's come before them.
- 34:07Speaker 4: And if memory serves me correctly, I reckon all those
- 34:10Speaker 4: diamonds played for Ramwick at the same time.
- 34:12Speaker 5: A lot of them did, didn't they.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Yeah, God's appreciation.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Because that was us. We used to I used to
- 34:17Speaker 4: play for Kareingka and we played State League against Ramwick
- 34:20Speaker 4: and you'd be like, oh and so who did they have?
- 34:23Speaker 2: Do you recall? Yeah?
- 34:24Speaker 4: They had Kille Debris, Sharon Finnan, Sue Kenny, Nicole Cusack,
- 34:29Speaker 4: Nick Cusack, maybe more.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Man what a squad?
- 34:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Like it's not bad, is it. Yeah? So Carissa
- 34:35Speaker 4: Tomas played for them in like the precursor to Super Nevel,
- 34:39Speaker 4: but she played for Manly in State League. Yeah, like
- 34:42Speaker 4: it was. They were just a powerhouse. It really used
- 34:45Speaker 4: to do your head in going. Oh.
- 34:46Speaker 5: I think one of their most recent is Chelsea Pittman
- 34:49Speaker 5: though oh.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. She's paid for Ramwick and there might
- 34:53Speaker 4: have been someone before that that that fab four that
- 34:56Speaker 4: I just mentioned.
- 34:57Speaker 2: So what did you do like practice your trash talk?
- 34:59Speaker 2: Because it's like, look, we're going to struggle to beat
- 35:01Speaker 2: them on court, so we need to get in their mind.
- 35:03Speaker 1: We had a far nice uniform and we were much funnier. Okay, well, yeah,
- 35:10Speaker 1: we used to base a lot of you know, if
- 35:12Speaker 1: we lost, well.
- 35:15Speaker 4: But the problem was the problem wasn't around. We can't
- 35:18Speaker 4: Killie Debris. He's one of the funniest people in the world.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Man Like, they were funny. They were good. So yes,
- 35:26Speaker 4: you just well, I've actually we beat them, but it
- 35:28Speaker 4: was bloody howt work we did. We had to wait
- 35:32Speaker 4: till Catherine turned up.
- 35:34Speaker 5: I don't think I was very helpful.
- 35:35Speaker 4: You shot a few goals, Yeah, just a couple, I
- 35:37Speaker 4: would have hoped.
- 35:38Speaker 2: So, yeah, leaves are funny to the funny. Okay, so
- 35:44Speaker 2: we're going to run out of time, so we've got
- 35:46Speaker 2: some jobs that we have to do, so I'm going
- 35:48Speaker 2: to save it for next week to tell you about
- 35:50Speaker 2: the erectile dysfunction medication commercial that I filmed earlier this week,
- 35:54Speaker 2: which was hilarious.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'm sorry you filmed. Yeah, oh, I understand that you
- 36:00Speaker 1: would have a rectold disc file.
- 36:01Speaker 2: No, I was the long suffering wife.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Oh my god, where do I get to see this?
- 36:08Speaker 2: I know, well it will be it will be an
- 36:10Speaker 2: internet only and and I was working with a couple
- 36:13Speaker 2: of other comedians, and that the premises that Mick and
- 36:16Speaker 2: I are the married couple and we have a twenty
- 36:18Speaker 2: three year old daughter who won't move out, and then
- 36:21Speaker 2: he gets this erect ol dysfunction medication and we give
- 36:24Speaker 2: her every incentive she needs to move out of our
- 36:26Speaker 2: house straight away.
- 36:27Speaker 5: This is a skit or this is legit.
- 36:29Speaker 2: They're legit ads, but I think very sensibly and guy
- 36:33Speaker 2: so that the guy at Pilot Technologies who has written
- 36:37Speaker 2: these ads is also a comedian named Tom Whitcomb, and
- 36:40Speaker 2: he knows the best way to talk to Australian men
- 36:42Speaker 2: about stuff like this is to make it funny, right,
- 36:44Speaker 2: You can't be too earnest and talking to camera about it. So, yeah,
- 36:47Speaker 2: it was a lot of fun.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Oh this is gold. I can't wait. So when's it out?
- 36:51Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 36:52Speaker 5: Oh god, yes, please, dribblers, we will show you. Don't
- 36:55Speaker 5: worry about that.
- 36:56Speaker 2: It's good fun. So yeah, okay, well I won't tell
- 36:59Speaker 2: you about that next week because I told you about
- 37:00Speaker 2: it now.
- 37:01Speaker 5: No, I want more details, thanks, But what I will do.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I don't think we've got a win beneath our wings nomination,
- 37:07Speaker 2: do we? No, Well, that's just an embarrassing note of netbork.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Guys, I haven't been on socials. I've been very slack
- 37:16Speaker 1: because I forgot that we were back. Oh there's four messages.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Hang on a minute, let's oh, this is compelling audio.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Let me tell you what we do have though, is
- 37:26Speaker 2: we have a question in our Ask the Coach segment.
- 37:29Speaker 2: So I'll also tell you that we have a website.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Now.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Now it's a work in progress. I'm doing this and
- 37:35Speaker 2: as we all know, some things are my strength and
- 37:38Speaker 2: other things I just do my best at. This is
- 37:40Speaker 2: a do my best at. But there is there a
- 37:43Speaker 2: page where you can write your win beneath our wings
- 37:46Speaker 2: nomination and will get emailed directly to me. We will
- 37:50Speaker 2: favor voice notes, though we will always if you send
- 37:54Speaker 2: a voice note, you will go to the top of
- 37:56Speaker 2: the queue, which is not looking that long at the moment.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I have to tell you, but now that I'm giving
- 38:00Speaker 2: you all this rev up and reminding you that the
- 38:03Speaker 2: rubber's really hitting the road with netball out there in
- 38:05Speaker 2: the world at the moment, we will get lots of
- 38:07Speaker 2: nominations for those people who keep our game alive at
- 38:10Speaker 2: the community level. But anyway, I have a question from
- 38:13Speaker 2: a listener and her name is Jude Donovan. Thank you, Jude,
- 38:19Speaker 2: appreciate this burning question. I often see players coming back
- 38:22Speaker 2: from injury and taping or using a brace. I've always
- 38:25Speaker 2: said to tape both ankles or knees or shoulders or
- 38:28Speaker 2: whatever it is, so the brain never favors the injured
- 38:30Speaker 2: side unconsciously. Is this good advice? And so that is
- 38:34Speaker 2: a very very good question. So our coach this week,
- 38:38Speaker 2: who's going to be answering this question is a physio
- 38:41Speaker 2: who worked very closely with the Swifts until she moved
- 38:43Speaker 2: over to the Far West Western Australia. Her name is
- 38:46Speaker 2: Monique Lamotti and Jude, she has this response to your question.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Will also put this video up on our Facebook page.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Over you Monique.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Hi, guys, my name's Monique.
- 38:58Speaker 6: I am a physiotherapist currently had a freehab at Wa
- 39:01Speaker 6: Sports Performance and currently the head physio for Freemantal Sharks
- 39:05Speaker 6: Final Team and Free Metal Netfle Association, but previously spent
- 39:08Speaker 6: some times with New South or Swifts and the West
- 39:12Speaker 6: Tigers women's program. So normally when we strap in the
- 39:15Speaker 6: injuries such as knees or shoulders, we generally do it
- 39:19Speaker 6: to prevent the range of motion. So with an acl
- 39:23Speaker 6: you might notice that the girls have their knees strapped
- 39:25Speaker 6: either side. We do it so that way they're a
- 39:27Speaker 6: bit more support when the knee lands or when you
- 39:31Speaker 6: plant your legs. We don't want to buckle underneath you.
- 39:34Speaker 6: We generally try to get you out of it as
- 39:36Speaker 6: quick as we can, or if some players are more
- 39:38Speaker 6: comfortable with it. But we do it for more of
- 39:40Speaker 6: the limitation of range of motion, but no other reason
- 39:43Speaker 6: other than that.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So Catherine spent scouring the social media and we do
- 39:52Speaker 2: not have nominations, and I think, honestly, let's all just
- 39:57Speaker 2: commit to doing better next week, because we know that
- 40:00Speaker 2: the game doesn't exist without our volunteers. So please send
- 40:03Speaker 2: through your wind beneath our wings nominations, preferably in a
- 40:06Speaker 2: voice note via Instagram, and you can record that up
- 40:09Speaker 2: in the top right of your screen.
- 40:10Speaker 1: And if he need some incentive, don't forget there is
- 40:13Speaker 1: a print the wine voucher on offer and of course
- 40:16Speaker 1: scrunchies the.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Person makes the nomination. Yeah, so yes, but go and
- 40:20Speaker 2: have a look at the web page because it's okay,
- 40:23Speaker 2: which is you know, I think terrific when an amateur
- 40:25Speaker 2: has done it. It's no dribble dot com dot au.
- 40:27Speaker 2: So we got that. We didn't have to pay fourteen
- 40:30Speaker 2: million dollars for that domain.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Name, because that's how much we earn doing this podcast.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Isn't it No? Isn't it though? And on that please
- 40:36Speaker 2: remember share the joy with your friends. We really need
- 40:39Speaker 2: to be building our numbers in this space, so you
- 40:42Speaker 2: know how much fun it is. Share that. Don't be selfish.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Let us build this beautiful community. Liz, tell us something
- 40:49Speaker 2: netbally that's going to happen in the next seven.
- 40:51Speaker 5: Days for you or Johnson thinking music?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Okay, you got nothing? Came to the Banana Boa, Dad, No,
- 41:03Speaker 2: I went to the Muppets Menomena.
- 41:06Speaker 5: Banana Bad.
- 41:10Speaker 4: It was originally the Muppets from the Muppet Show.
- 41:13Speaker 5: You two are so old.
- 41:14Speaker 6: No.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Well, we've got second week of grading for TENS tonight,
- 41:19Speaker 1: and I wanted to actually stay the hell out of
- 41:21Speaker 1: it so I could say, oh, I know nothing to
- 41:23Speaker 1: do with me.
- 41:23Speaker 5: I didn't put you in that team whatever.
- 41:25Speaker 1: But I'm the one that's standing there with the clipboard
- 41:27Speaker 1: because there's not been anyone else around to hell, so
- 41:29Speaker 1: I don't want.
- 41:30Speaker 2: To have anything to do with that.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it's me.
- 41:32Speaker 2: That's a tough, tough, tough job.
- 41:35Speaker 5: And how do you tell them apart? I really struggle.
- 41:38Speaker 5: So anyway, yaya, Well, good luck. That's what's happening.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I have got there's some interesting research come out of
- 41:44Speaker 2: our six about girls dropping out of sport, but we'll
- 41:46Speaker 2: talk about that next week. I'm going to share that
- 41:47Speaker 2: with you. But remember were talking about it last week
- 41:50Speaker 2: with the gradings, So that's something to look forward to.
- 41:53Speaker 5: Everybody can wait.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Now this week cannot go fast enough and we're in
- 41:57Speaker 2: a playoff for third and fourth this week. Whatever who cares?
- 42:00Speaker 5: No one does care about that, you know, but don't
- 42:03Speaker 5: come forth.
- 42:06Speaker 4: But have you seen this?
- 42:07Speaker 2: So Olympians, the happiest is always the gold medalist, The
- 42:10Speaker 2: second happiest is the bronze medalist, and the one who
- 42:12Speaker 2: is unhappy is the silver medalist. Because the silver goes,
- 42:15Speaker 2: I could have had gold. The bronze medalist goes, well,
- 42:17Speaker 2: I could have got nothing.
- 42:18Speaker 1: So it is this is all so relative because I've
- 42:21Speaker 1: had this conversation with lots of people. It depends if
- 42:24Speaker 1: you go in there not thinking you're going to make
- 42:26Speaker 1: a podium or whatever that thing's.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Called, and you get a silver, your rat.
- 42:31Speaker 1: But if you're the Australian Diamonds for instance, and you
- 42:33Speaker 1: don't win a gold, silver sucks the big ones.
- 42:38Speaker 5: And I've had a lot of people when we've lost.
- 42:40Speaker 1: It's not been that often, but standing on the silver
- 42:42Speaker 1: getting the medal podium, you guys all look really sad.
- 42:45Speaker 5: You want a silver?
- 42:47Speaker 1: Hop please you don't wind yeah big time.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Anyway, on that chirpy note.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Let's all get out there and win a silver or
- 42:57Speaker 2: win a gold this week in whatever we're doing. Thanks
- 43:00Speaker 2: everybody for joining us. That's been another awesome chat, getting
- 43:03Speaker 2: very excited about the year of netball that we are
- 43:05Speaker 2: starting to get into. I'm Carolyn Swindle.
- 43:07Speaker 5: I'm Catherine Cox. Thank you for my therapy session.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Ladies, any touch apprecire, well not anytime, once a week
- 43:12Speaker 2: at this time for one hour only, and don't send
- 43:15Speaker 2: me a bill.
- 43:17Speaker 4: And up as a finals the second time. Thanks for
- 43:20Speaker 4: the laughs.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Have a good week everyone, bye, take care, stay back.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Bye bye bye bye
