Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello everyone, welcome back, and we are full of health.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I do apologize, being pretty unwell, but I can't wait to share you with not just the 30th episode but we're also including I think we'll be around the 21st episode of the SA and FL Extra, sa and FL Final Series combo into one episode.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So sit back, relax, enjoy the show.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Let's get it on.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So, wow, what a final series.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And thank you, aidan, for your thoughts and reviews from the semi-final from the AFL with two well, first time in history in 42 years since North Melbourne, and that's the AFL history as well.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So we also have that Friday night and the Saturday night blockbusters.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We're going to share between the Crows and the Hawks on Friday night and then we'll follow into the Saturday Q clash between the Lions and the Suns at the Gutter.
- 1:04Speaker 1: We also have huge 20 finals from the Reserves and the League to share in the NFL at the LA Oval.
- 1:12Speaker 1: We'll also, if you have not here, I have just posted out the latest live from the LA Oval between the Glenelg Tigers and Northern League 20 final Go.
- 1:21Speaker 1: L Tigers and Norbert League 20 final Go, check that out.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We'll also share all the under-16s and under-18s.
- 1:28Speaker 1: What my thoughts are those games.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And Aidan, I know you'll be pretty happy and listen to his episode later on because it's pretty worthwhile.
- 1:38Speaker 1: He's a big West LA, known for West LA.
- 1:41Speaker 1: The baby bloods in the juniors and I know Aidan will be loving and absolutely enjoying.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You know it's pretty honest.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Listen to it because it's absolutely worth it.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But enough of that, let's get straight into the AFL.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Let's straight into it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So look, being a Crows is such a heartbroken but there was a lot going through the club with illness like myself and still recovering, and I think that, knowing that, you know we got a little bit better by score but we just did not get ourselves in front of that game.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Hawthorne started, they wanted this, they wanted more and we just couldn't match them.
- 2:22Speaker 1: You know we had a second chance but we just would not be in front.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Hey, we had a momentum.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We're on about eight points at quarter time.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Then we just couldn't hit the goal.
- 2:33Speaker 1: That second quarter opens up to kick goal.
- 2:36Speaker 1: We got better in the third and then really we kicked seven goals one, two, eight goals, ten.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So overall that was a better half in the close but it wasn't enough.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But it was the second quarter across us and we knew.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But I think Hawthorne, just every time Adelaide hit the goal, hawthorne won it more in the midfield and credit well done to Hawthorne.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I've been proud what you've done.
- 3:04Speaker 1: 12 months ago again, you came to Adelaide semifinals.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You lost.
- 3:09Speaker 1: 12 months later you won an absolute lot more.
- 3:12Speaker 1: You prepared more.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You came and your banner said we're here, ready to go, we're ready to go, and Terrence Meade and Hawthorne, their leadership too in that, you know big banner, and I think that really shows that Hawthorne want this.
- 3:31Speaker 1: This is it.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Sam Mitchell has the team to take it to the big games and all the best they do take on Geelong.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I will share that.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But deeply into the LA Crows, very quick Look, you know it hasn't.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I think we had a.
- 3:46Speaker 1: This is a much better team.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I know that first time in 42 years is just a history of you know straight set.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But I think LA did not prepare a lot more.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I just did not.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I didn't have confidence.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I had the confidence we should win it, but not win it and my 9,.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think that sounds negative, but I think it's just a mindset coming in.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I think we just didn't get moving.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You know some of the LA Coast players stepped up.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You know the share like why do you feel for three goals?
- 4:22Speaker 1: You know credit to him.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Josh Lashali welcome back, mate.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You feel for three goals.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You know credit to him.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Josh Lachelle welcome back, mate.
- 4:25Speaker 1: He gave a couple goals.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Josh Rowan, well done on a mad, fantastic performance.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You know, holding up in that defence is not easy, and you know.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And then Roy Led, you know had a good game there.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You've got Josh Wells from Hawthorne, jamie Cooney, you know.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You know from Hawthorne, I'm just going to leave it on that, but the lead all-time disposal was Josh Rowan and where we led was the April fan city.
- 4:52Speaker 1: So that doesn't mean anything.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But they used a lot more of the ball.
- 4:56Speaker 1: But it's Sam Butters and the way he came into this game and he almost got a double-double in my opinion, you know he dominated, absolute dominated and or triple-double, but almost a double-double here on the BJ Show podcast.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Or you know Aussie Footy Show, the history of my opinion.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And yeah, so there's a few players Now.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Aiden did share the play of the game.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm going to give it to Sam Butler now.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Apply that injury by injury, by injury.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Hawthorne's done so well with this fella.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He's dominated against the.
- 5:34Speaker 1: A new person for it include 15 disposal, five ups, nine tackles, two goals, 104 for fan city, 31 percent of the defensive half, 69%, forward half.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Sam Butler included five score involvements and four tenders bounce tenders no tenders for this fella, but he dominated that forward.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So much 69% and now we're in a ball pusher and those two goals found a two-straight.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So, hawthorne, all the best Continues on Adelaide.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Think about what you're going to do.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It is hurtful now, but move on into off-season and bring back strong and ever.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Manny Nix, you're a star, you're a great coach.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know well done on a history made from 15th to 1st.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It doesn't happen overnight.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Be proud because you're on the edge of, you know, not continuous coach.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I think you're a great coach.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You have proven the club that you want to be here and you talent the off-season hard last season into this year.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Go hard, we know that you'll do so.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Wellthorne, it's now all the best against Geelong next game.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Let's do it two clutch one way or another back, kicking back, scoring history made from second week the hard rack final series.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm going to call this game and it's heartbroken 53 point.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I thought Gold Coast are going to.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You know, take this absolute take, this take on the injury brismalines, but you're gonna have no, did we have a country road?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Take me home from charlie cameron.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I think he did not kick a goal.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So, mate, be there for that big dance.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Mate, your star, charlie cameron, your crow.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I have watched the highlights on YouTube as a former crow.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Early days and you dominated on your first game.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And now forget that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But moving forward into what I want to share with you all, and prior to the license to Brisbane Now, before we get into it, I did not share and I know Aidan shared this Final score, but I'll do it as well 14.
- 7:45Speaker 1: 14 goals, 17 to 10, 7.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So opens up, that was four goals, 10.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So it's only 34 points.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Adelaide's been proud.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's not a heavy defeat but it's a big defeat.
- 7:57Speaker 1: But moving on as we go into Q Clash with, at the gutter, 14, 16, 100, 6, 11, 47.
- 8:06Speaker 1: First time in history that Gold Coast goes to Perth, then back into Brisbane, queensland, and get defeated hard.
- 8:14Speaker 1: This is a lesson learned.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You know, gold Coast, don't lose any good players because you're going to be back stronger than ever.
- 8:22Speaker 1: You know, first time in history to play finals, be proud.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And you know, going through to take on Connery would be even worse.
- 8:29Speaker 1: To go to the MCG would be awesome.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Damien Harwood, be proud to make club history mate 15 years later.
- 8:38Speaker 1: This is it.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You know you have a Gold Coast cheer squad and it's going to make it stronger.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Get your membership.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Gold Coast supporters, be there for next year because I think there's so much magic gonna go and go to as many home games, get the crowd, get the people's first stadium and make the crowd big.
- 8:57Speaker 1: You know, I think don't lose damien hardwork straight away, because I think he's done so well with the club.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And how amazing you know, from his second year to play finals, to go into the semifinals second week, get knocked out.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You know you brought the pressure against Friantor and then the challenge against Brisbane.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yes, they had injuries but they found ways to replace those.
- 9:22Speaker 1: No, lucky nil.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You know, and hopefully all the best into.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Hopefully they go to to the big dance.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And you know brisbane, our team, that they find talent and they improve it and then they get on to the team and they do so well.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So go close, heads up.
- 9:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Go to the off season, get some good talent.
- 9:43Speaker 1: How much I respect irons, I have.
- 9:45Speaker 1: No, I'm a close.
- 9:47Speaker 1: All the best in the offseason.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Brisbane good luck.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Big test at the MCG 2023 Grand Final rematch, the pre-final who is taking the big dance Now, at the end of the show?
- 10:00Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you right now, I think next, stay tuned, because the World Show is going to be bigger than ever.
- 10:07Speaker 1: We've got the grand final projections from your host, bj, myself and Aidan, your co-host for the podcast.
- 10:15Speaker 1: We'll be all there with the amazing awards from the player of the year.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We've got the coach of the year.
- 10:20Speaker 1: We've got goal and mark.
- 10:22Speaker 1: We got the two Australian teams all surprises.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We do not know each other's awards.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Stay tuned for that.
- 10:27Speaker 1: We have the grand awards.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Stay tuned for that.
- 10:28Speaker 1: We have the grand final predictions.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Stay tuned for that, and that's what I want to share.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So for this game now, unusual to have a Twilight football game, but we do now go to Friday night football.
- 10:42Speaker 1: This is big.
- 10:42Speaker 1: This is one of the hardest tipping, I really think.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Has Hawthorne?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Could they go all the way to the big dance?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Weston Bordeaux has done it Back in 2016,.
- 10:52Speaker 1: They beat Sydney.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Sydney were favourites to win it and I think, as my team is Geelong, my second team in the AFL-VFL I really think Geelong will take this Now.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm not competing that Geelong and Geelong have done this before against Brisbane.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So Geelong be more prepared than last year.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You know Brisbane finished fifth last year won the apprenticeship.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You know we'll share them very soon.
- 11:18Speaker 1: They're back in the MCG 12 months later.
- 11:20Speaker 1: They know what they need to do.
- 11:21Speaker 1: There's no lock and heel.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But focusing on Geelong, the sexy Geelong Cats are back.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I'm really in confidence They'll take this win and they'll win by 20 points Around.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think Aidan mentioned about 26 points.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It will be tight, it'll be close and that is my margin and it will be a close game.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I'm not contending that Hawthorne will be in their game plan into a stronger version of the MCG.
- 11:47Speaker 1: It's going be 90 000 pack.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It'll be a sold out.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You know you got a ticket.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Great.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I cannot wait to share this game as well, as well, as much as I can share with you all, yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 1: So I really think it's gonna be a really hard choice of tipping this game.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's always hard in finals then due to punishment season.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So I'm be handing on the good teams versus the.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure, like the last few weeks, when the la crows, for example, where's west goes to north melbourne, they came and west goes for winning, not as much north melbourne, but credit to them.
- 12:20Speaker 1: They brought the pressure.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Now they just did not.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think since that north melbourne game then, or even west, that confidence was just not there and that's where I feel we should win like eight goals.
- 12:32Speaker 1: But moving on to this one, look, I think it's going to be a good game.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I don't know what the weather's going to be.
- 12:39Speaker 1: We're hoping it's really nice football weather.
- 12:41Speaker 1: It's spring, september Melbourne action.
- 12:44Speaker 1: It's good.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Twelve months later, there was only one game in Melbourne.
- 12:48Speaker 1: This time we're back to back MCG crop busters and I can't wait to share who is going to take the big dance Geelong is going to take to a mother grand final.
- 13:00Speaker 1: We have the Saturday Twilight 445 Conningwood versus Brisbane in the 2023 AFL Grand Final.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Rematches back at the MCG on Tri-Lite Football.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Before the big dance, who think they need to rematch for a Grand Final pop star?
- 13:22Speaker 1: Now I want Brisbane to win.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I think they've got a lot more confidence over conningwood.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I think conningwood just going to win and they won quite comfortable against adelaide and they'll be ready that that got fresh legs.
- 13:34Speaker 1: You know there's a lot going on between these two sides with injury wise and you know performance and stuff like that.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But back in 2011, chris scott, you know, won that partnership 14 years ago that it was a wet condition grand final.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I was in Melbourne and I was in a unit and unbelievable game it was, and I remember it was a cold day in Melbourne that year.
- 14:00Speaker 1: 14 years later, I'm backing up Conningwood.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I do not feel confident they'll win the partnership with Strelong in hand, but I think it's going to be another cats in the pies.
- 14:10Speaker 1: They are my position now With this one.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I think Brisbane will control.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I think Coneywood will control.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I think Brisbane will come back late really hard, but it's going to be like that 15-point ball game.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I think it's going to be close all game.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I think Aidan said we're at that margin as well.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So there you have it Geelong and Connywood.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I'd love to see a non-Victorian in this team, but I just can't see it.
- 14:35Speaker 1: They're my predictions.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It is the cats in the pies 2025 April predictions.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And there you have it.
- 14:42Speaker 1: They are my winners.
- 14:43Speaker 1: We now take.
- 14:45Speaker 1: We now take.
- 14:46Speaker 1: We'll find out on our next show with bj and aiden, but right now, at the awards show, can't wait to share with that.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Who wins these, these games.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Now switching over into the sanfl and a bit nervous racing, let's just get driving to it, because I need look as heartbreaking as I can be, I'm going to save it to last.
- 15:10Speaker 1: That's moving forward and sweeping over to congratulations to West Adelaide.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I was Not there, was watching the game.
- 15:19Speaker 1: The talent you have is amazing.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well done to West Adelaide.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Aidan will share.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Go listen to the episode about his moments as well.
- 15:29Speaker 1: About the Australian finals Sturt too.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Good, very comfortable victory.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I was there to the final siren, beautiful day, but unfortunately it was all Sturt.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But this is it.
- 15:42Speaker 1: This is interesting to know that I backed up West Adelaide to win this game and Surf Adelaide to win this game over Sturt, and Surf finished fifth overall.
- 15:53Speaker 1: They've gone from the first week to the last week and they take on Glenelg.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Who do?
- 15:59Speaker 1: I think that will be, and it's the heartbroken how can I request to start this game Three-quarter time?
- 16:08Speaker 1: It all came that third quarter.
- 16:10Speaker 1: We used the ball a lot more in my opinion, and that mark the legend of Tristan Blender, the key forward for North Redlegs.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I was on my edge.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I was actually.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know not, I was, you can got this and he missed.
- 16:24Speaker 1: He missed.
- 16:25Speaker 1: There was no wind on the northern end, with about least a minute and a half to two minutes minute and a half remaining.
- 16:33Speaker 1: That last quarter was not much.
- 16:35Speaker 1: We had the football to take your time.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You got this and eyes on him to kick it and he sprayed it really hard and that really cost us the game.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I think, over all big credit, nord heads up going to the offseason and we're set.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Next year it's going to be a one-hour game.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Glenelg will be in that game.
- 16:57Speaker 1: They did it last year against Nord.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I think that it's going to be Sturt.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I'm backing up Sturt and I'm backing up both Sturt.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Both grand finals.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Sturt will get their revenge from last year.
- 17:10Speaker 1: They'll do it this time.
- 17:11Speaker 1: They work their heart off to get where they want to be and they earn it.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Correzoles and Sturt going out and Sturt double back-to-back.
- 17:21Speaker 1: What a clash, what a contest and what a game.
- 17:24Speaker 1: This is going to be All right.
- 17:26Speaker 1: That is all we have for today, nothing else.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I can say how proud I am presenting this double episode here today the Saturday 250 episode coming soon your way, as well as the World Show, as well as the bowling weekly update.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I'll be, I'll be bowling this week.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It will be the last week, so stay tuned.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Every friday, where possible, be my, even on a saturday.
- 17:49Speaker 1: If I'm a bit delayed with everything, I'll get out as much as possible, all right, thank you so much.
- 17:55Speaker 1: The bjo show is out.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Bye for now, peace, peace.
