Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville jackwars fans welcome in to dovall daily presented by jing Jack dot com and fueled by brass tax coffee best coffee in town wins day June 3rd right now We're talking about something that I don't really like talking about.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a little bit scary to think about honestly There are several players that I've talked about on this channel That are going into contract years
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: that I would love to see the Jaguars extend before the season.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: That I would love to see in black and teal, teal in black, whatever you want to call it, for years to come.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: But it is possible, based on the way the Jaguars have addressed the same positions that those players are currently at.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: That some of them,
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: None of them potentially are actually in the Jaguar's long-term plans.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about it here today.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Support in the channel.

- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new dooval gear.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: So, these players were talking about.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: And shout out to Josh Collier on Twitter, who kind of brought this up.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's something I've briefly kind of hinted on with a couple different guys, but the Jag Wars heading into 2027.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have at the current projections, you know, almost $11 million in the red, like negative cap space, almost $11 million.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of different ways to create cap space, whether it be, you know, contract restructures, basic ones, or even cutting players and saving a ton of money.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that doesn't mean like post-June one because like their players like foyer Luiken,
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little, Patrick McCary, Jordan Lewis, Eric Murray, a number of guys that they could potentially cut, save a good amount of cap space, and it's basically a clean break, yeah, there's a little bit of dead money, but it's not a big deal, right?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a bunch of guys like that.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Hainesy's also in that boat.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: That could be their strategy moving forward, you know, to
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Cut bait with some of the older players, obviously Walker Little isn't an older player, but he's somebody who, at his price tag, as a, you know, back up at this point, you could probably afford to move on and try to replace that cheaper.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: The rest of the guys are older players, though.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Again, FOIA,
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're guys that have been around, they're guys that have done their second contract, third contract for some of them, right?
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: It could be the Jack Wars plan to move on from some of those guys and retain all the players that we're about to talk about, which the players are Britain's strange Antonio Johnson, Parker Washington, right?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Drell Miller, a bunch of guys from that, what, 2023 draft class?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 23 draft class.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: have either broken out already or have shown signs that they have the ability to potentially break out.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a non-zero chance that like three of those four guys are not Jaguars in 2027.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's possible that all of them are Jaguars in 2027.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I say that is based on what the Jaguars have done at their respective positions.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the number one player, everyone wants to resign is Britain's strange.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I also think he's probably the, if I had to put my money on the one that is most likely to be resigned, it would be Britain's strange.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Jaguars Liam Cohen's talked about how he likes to run a lot of 12 personnel.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars now, I think, have the talent in place to do that at a much higher level than they did last year.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: But is it possible, like Josh Collier on Twitter said, that Nate Borkacher is a potential Britain strange
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: replacement beyond 2026.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, they can play together in 2026 and have a really good year together and help the Jaguars be a better 12-person L team.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: But is it possible that he is not just viewed as a pairing with Britain's strange at the Titan position for the long term, but a replacement?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is possible.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying it's likely.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: I personally believe,
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: My best guess on this one is that the Jaguars would like to have both Britain, Strange, and A-Boricature on their roster for a long time.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about Parker Washington, Jacobian Liars is under contract, they just signed him.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. is under contract.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's going into his third year.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be under contract in 2027.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Can pick up his fifth year option for 2028?
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's under contract for the next three years if the Jaguar is won it.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: 2026, 2027, 2028.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, yes, still a receiver.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's under contract.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, through, he's going into his second year, 2029 with the fifth year option.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of receiving talent, right?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of receiving talent.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers has contract when you look at his.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's under contract through 28 as well.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying the Jaguar's won't extend Parker Washington.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I've said I think that they should.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see that.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: But is it possible that they're willing to pivot to a cheaper
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: Alternative, at receiver, considering they have Jacobi Myers, Brian Thomas, Jr. and Travis Hunter, and they just drafted C.J.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Williams and Josh Cameron as well.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that could be the plan.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, at both of these spots, the plan isn't to have a plan in place right now, but to let things play out and see what happens.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the Jaguars
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: with Britain's strange, you know, Nate Borkichard does bring the level of play that they expect with a second round pick.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And they also end up having, like, because they're scouting already for 2027, the draft, maybe there's like another deep tide in class.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, we can go back to the well, have two really cheap tide ends instead of
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's the case, right?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: But again, my best guess is they actually probably just want to stay liquid, stay fluid, stay what like, like, to where they can make the decision later on.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to see them sign at least one of Britain's Stranger Parker Washington.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: For me, it would be Britain's strange.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Just lock the guy up, he embodies everything you want.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: So does Parker Washington.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see them both back.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to see Antonio Johnson back too.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: But when you look at what the Jaguars have done at Safety, Eric Murray is under contract through 2027.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: They can get out of that contract if they want to.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: But in the last two drafts, they have spent two day two pixel at Safety.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: 2025, they drafted Caleb Ransaud, 2026, they drafted Jalen Husky, and they also drafted Ray on Lane, right?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: little intention of potentially bringing Antonio Johnson back.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, is it possible that they're again just waiting to see what happens?
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: We'll find out, like obviously there's an opportunity for the Jaguar to sign any all of these guys before the season.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: You also have Vintral Miller.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people wanted to replace before this year.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to have a very good season for the Jaguarist.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna be starting somewhere in 2027.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Will it be Jacksonville?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: I would hate to see foil look and go anywhere because that guy's a heart and soul leader capped in great player.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's getting up there a little bit.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: I would hate to see him go, but maybe the jackwares are willing to move on from him.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Keep ventral miller a little bit cheaper and maybe they feel good about jack Kaiser or Branson Colms or maybe ventral miller.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: They could feel like they could replace with Branson Combs.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Or Parker Hughes, who they are after this year.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's just the way they've set this roster up.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: They've given themselves so much flexibility to potentially keep all these guys.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: They could absolutely do that to not keep any of them.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: They could do that to...
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: keep a couple of them.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: They could do that as well.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be fascinating to see.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do think if you look at what happened this past off season, the Jaguars decided not to keep Travis CTN and Devon Lloyd were the two big guys they like, oh, I think everybody thought Greg Newsom would be gone anyways.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Is that going to be the same strategy moving forward?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: You can make a trip like I James Gladstone has been aggressive to try to make trades for big players like they talked about Max Crosby a little bit They were very interested in Quentin Williams They're potential like one thing I think they want to do is add more star power to the roster Maybe even in 2026, but probably definitely going into 2027
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think they feel like they have a star at quarterback.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: They have a star in Travis Hunter.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: They have a star in Josh Hines Allen.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think they believe they have a really good player in Trayvon Walker.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got some glue guys that they've drafted over the last couple years and glue guys from like 2023 draft.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think they probably believe Brian Thomas Jr. can be a star again.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: But they might feel like they're, you know, one big, big piece of way.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then also a nice draft, like the Jaguar is actually having a first round pick at this point, heading into 2020, 7 NFL draft.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: There's just so many different ways that James Gladstone can pull the strings here.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he's someone who has admitted just like coaches want to tendency break as a front office and decision-making group about personnel, they want to also tendency break so other teams around the league don't know what they're going to do.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be just fascinating to watch how they operate.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's basically the biggest takeaway here.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if they're gonna sign any of these guys, we don't know if they're gonna sign all of them, couple of them.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see Britain strange at a least get done before the season, but we're just gonna have to wait and see.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in, support them channel.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Love talking, jacks, football with y'all.
