- 0:20-built computer called Deep Blue beat the reigning
- 0:23world chess champion, Garry Kasparov, in a match,
- 0:26marking a landmark artificial intelligence victory.
- 0:30This achievement showed that specialized computing
- 0:32systems could outperform human expertise in strategic
- 0:36reasoning and inspired broader investment in
- 0:39research in machine learning and intelligence
- 0:42systems. So now you know. And now it's time for

- 2:53Sunny mornings send you. In local news, Massachusetts
- 2:59is cracking down on prediction markets that are
- 3:02emerging as rivals to sports betting giants like
- 3:05DraftKings and FanDuel. In response, prediction
- 3:09market platforms Kalshi and PolyMarket are fighting
- 3:12back, arguing they should be regulated by the
- 3:14federal government, not state gaming regulators.
- 3:19Polymarket recently sued Massachusetts Attorney
- 3:22General Andrea Joy Campbell in Boston Federal
- 3:24Court, claiming the state is overstepping its
- 3:27bounds. This lawsuit follows a court ruling that
- 3:31temporarily blocked Kalshi from offering sports
- 3:34wagers in Massachusetts. The U .S. sports betting
- 3:38market has grown into a multi -billion -dollar
- 3:40industry, generating nearly $14 billion in gross
- 3:45revenue in 2024. Now on to sports. Team USA,
- 3:56Curling, has advanced to the mixed doubles gold
- 3:59medal game after a stunning upset over the defending
- 4:02champions. Corey Thies and Corey Drakken finished
- 4:06the round -robin session with a record of six
- 4:08wins and three losses, making history as the
- 4:12first American mixed doubles team to reach the
- 4:15medal round since the discipline was introduced
- 4:17in the Winter Olympics in 2018. In the semifinal,
- 4:22they face Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner
- 4:25from Team Italy, the 2022 gold medalist. After
- 4:30a nail -biting match, Team USA won 9 -8, thanks
- 4:34to a clutch final shot from Thiesse. They will
- 4:38now compete against Sweden for the gold medal
- 4:40on Tuesday. In local sports, the Celtics may
- 4:45face a tough decision in the upcoming NBA expansion
- 4:49draft, As reports suggest, the league could vote
- 4:51to add two new teams this summer. If approved,
- 4:55the Cs would need to protect players from their
- 4:58deep roster, which could lead to losing a valuable
- 5:01asset. Top candidates to protect include Jason
- 5:05Tatum, Jalen Brown, Tarek White, Peyton Pritchard,
- 5:09Nemeus Queda, and Sam Hauser. The final spot
- 5:12could come down to rookie players Baylor Scheierman
- 5:15or Jordan Malsch. with Scheherman currently having
- 5:19the edge based on recent performance. This scenario
- 5:22presents a challenging choice for the Cs as they
- 5:26strategize for the future. Wednesday night, the
- 5:2934 and 19 Celtics are at home facing the 24 and
- 5:3329 Bulls. In top news, protein shakes are widely
- 5:40available and often marketed as convenient meal
- 5:43alternatives. which may leave you wondering whether
- 5:46you can have protein shakes instead of meals.
- 5:50Replacing meals with protein shakes can affect
- 5:52your body in different ways, depending on the
- 5:55shake's nutrient content. Most commercial protein
- 5:59shakes provide 20 to 30 grams of protein per
- 6:02serving. Protein shakes provide a quick, easy
- 6:05way to consume protein, making it easier to increase
- 6:08overall protein intake. When a protein shake
- 6:12replaces a meal, consider which nutrients may
- 6:15be missing. In most cases, protein shakes work
- 6:18best as a supplement, rather than a routine replacement
- 6:21for whole meals. In business news, Elon Musk
- 6:28says that SpaceX will prioritize the establishment
- 6:31of a self -growing city on the moon instead of
- 6:34a colony on Mars. This decision marks a significant
- 6:38shift in Musk's space exploration ambitions.
- 6:41In a post on his social media platform X, Musk
- 6:45stated that a lunar city could be built within
- 6:47the next decade. He emphasized that the mission
- 6:51of SpaceX remains the same, to extend consciousness
- 6:54and life as we know it to the stars. Musk indicated
- 6:58that SpaceX would resume a Mars efforts in the
- 7:01next five to seven years, but building on the
- 7:04moon would be more efficient. In crypto movement,
- 7:09Bitcoin is down 9%. to about $70 ,000. Ethereum
- 7:14is down 8 % to just over $2 ,000. And XRP is
- 7:20down 10 % to $1 .45. Moving on to a more local
- 7:26vibe. In our community spotlight on health and

- 8:07Morning sent you by. And now, back to the show.
- 8:12Let's talk science. Ripples in spacetime from
- 8:16a pair of merging black holes have been recorded
- 8:18in unprecedented detail, enabling physicists
- 8:22to test predictions of general relativity. The
- 8:25loudest collision ever recorded has allowed scientists
- 8:28to confirm that Einstein's theory is correct.
- 8:32In 2025, an international collaboration detected
- 8:36a powerful ripple, produced by this merger. The
- 8:40detectors are more sensitive than when LIGO made
- 8:42its first detection in 2016. Researchers tested
- 8:47Stephen Hawking's theorem and found it to be
- 8:50correct with nearly 100 % confidence. Kief Mittman
- 8:55and colleagues further tested whether the merger
- 8:57conforms with Einstein's general relativity.
- 9:00They found that the measured frequencies matched
- 9:03closely with Einstein's predictions. And in entertainment
- 9:10news, YouTube TV is introducing lower -priced
- 9:14sports and news packages. The Google -owned pay
- 9:18TV service announced on Monday that it will roll
- 9:20out more than 10 plans, priced below a full YouTube
- 9:24TV subscription, which offers more than 100 channels.
- 9:28This introduction responds to growing consumer
- 9:31frustration over rising costs, as the service
- 9:34currently costs $82 a month. The sports plan
- 9:38will be available this fall for $64 a month,
- 9:42offering four broadcast networks that carry the
- 9:44NFL, along with various sports channels. New
- 9:48subscribers will receive an introductory rate
- 9:50of $54 a month. Well, all righty, folks. It's
- 9:56time for the quote of the day. And today, our
- 10:00quote comes from the American computer scientist
- 10:02and pioneer of artificial intelligence, Marvin
- 10:06Minsky. And he said, And that's a wrap for this
- 10:20morning. You can check out our Instagram, YouTube,
