- 0:02Welcome to Impact Ready, a show dedicated to helping you elevate
- 0:06your impact in the world. I'm Steph Safra, your host.
- 0:09Let's explore the power of showing up with intention and
- 0:12energy each day. This is for those who seek to
- 0:15make life truly meaningful. Get ready for impact.
- 0:22Hello team, welcome to the show. Thank you for being here.
- 0:27This episode is actually going to be pretty short and sweet,
- 0:30but it's meant to serve anybody who's going through a challenge
- 0:34right now. I don't know what you're going
- 0:37through. I know that I can't physically
- 0:39see you, but I wanted to do an episode that would serve as a
- 0:42little bit of hope to you. No matter what challenge you're
- 0:46in, no matter what transition you're facing, no matter what
- 0:49big dream you're trying to bring to life.
- 0:52I recently had an experience where somebody was able to say
- 0:55these kinds of things to me, something that felt really
- 0:58hopeful, very helpful. It was kind of like the right
- 1:01thing at the right moment that I needed to hear.
- 1:05It very much helped me in a time where I was feeling a little
- 1:08discouraged, a little overwhelmed, feeling a little
- 1:11bit of self doubt. And it reminded me that we all
- 1:15need to hear this stuff sometimes.
- 1:17No matter how old you are or what walk of life you've come
- 1:20from, we all need to hear a little bit of encouragement and
- 1:23remember that a little bit goes a long way.
- 1:25So this episode is for you and this is what I want to say to
- 1:30you. I know that you've very likely
- 1:33been on a road that has not always been smooth.
- 1:37I know that you've gone through some periods of time where you
- 1:40felt like you were in the darkness, where you were
- 1:43struggling to see 2 feet in front of you and had no idea
- 1:47which direction to go. I know that at some point in
- 1:50your life you have doubted yourself and asked the question,
- 1:54did I make the right decision? Should I have let that person
- 1:57go? Should I have ended that thing
- 2:00that I was a part of? Should I have closed that
- 2:03chapter in my life? Did I do the right thing?
- 2:07And I'm not going to sit here and tell you that that is an
- 2:09easy place to be, because it's not.
- 2:12But I will say this. You very likely did not make any
- 2:16decision or walk away from any relationship.
- 2:19Choose any direction on that road without thinking about it
- 2:24for a very long time. I guarantee you are not hasty or
- 2:28rash or unthoughtful or careless or cruel.
- 2:33I bet you spent hours agonizing over that thing.
- 2:37I'm sure that you have spent a lot of time deep in thought
- 2:41about whether or not this was the right move.
- 2:44I would guess that at some point you sacrificed your own needs,
- 2:48your own wants, you bent on your boundaries, or you took some
- 2:52kind of grief or extra load, or maybe you even took some abuse
- 2:58or manipulation in the path of deciding what to do and where to
- 3:03go. I would venture to guess that at
- 3:06some point you got burned, that you probably got caught in the
- 3:10fire and convinced yourself that the heat is just part of the
- 3:13gig. It's nothing unusual, it's just
- 3:14something you have to deal with, just the price of admission for
- 3:17being in that situation. There's probably a chance that
- 3:21you made yourself a little bit smaller in the process of trying
- 3:24to work things out or leave that job or make an old idea or an
- 3:28old identity fit. But you did the best you could
- 3:32with the information that you had at the time.
- 3:36You didn't have all the context and the way that you have it
- 3:39now. So you don't have to go back in
- 3:42your mind and beat yourself up about what was or could have
- 3:46been. And sometimes we just grow out
- 3:49of things. Sometimes as we grow, the
- 3:53circumstances of our life no longer fit and we have to shed
- 3:59that layer. Sometimes we have to break apart
- 4:02old patterns so that something new can come in and be built
- 4:06before our eyes. And so that begs the question,
- 4:11what if? What if the next chapter that
- 4:15you're so worried about turns out to be your favorite chapter?
- 4:19What if the thing you're approaching with hesitation ends
- 4:23up becoming part of your life that you look back on and say,
- 4:26wow, that changed everything for the better?
- 4:30What if all that time that you were waiting to give yourself
- 4:33permission to make this next move is the time that allowed
- 4:37you to grow into the person that can take this first step and now
- 4:41you're fully equipped to be where you are now?
- 4:44What if you are one conversation, one chance
- 4:48meeting, one decision away from the thing that you're hoping to
- 4:52have in your life? We rarely think this way, but we
- 4:56should because it's happening all around us.
- 5:01What we usually do instead is we fall back on habit.
- 5:05The moment something is unknown, people immediately imagine what
- 5:08could go wrong. Old stories, old patterns, old
- 5:11programming tell us. What if it fails?
- 5:15What if it hurts? What if it's not what I hoped it
- 5:17could be? What if I made the wrong
- 5:19decision and I can't go back now?
- 5:20What if I'm not equipped for this?
- 5:23What if I hate what's next for me?
- 5:26I get it. I have been there so many times.
- 5:30I have been there very recently. We all get it.
- 5:33We've all been there. Uncertainty often feels
- 5:38threatening. So we put up that old guard, all
- 5:41those old defenses that we construct around ourselves like
- 5:43a fortress. We put up that protection, but
- 5:47that protection usually leads in the negative direction.
- 5:51It usually takes us down the path of imagination where
- 5:54everything falls apart and we made the mistakes and we should
- 5:58have known better. That protection often blinds us
- 6:02to the other side, Because what if the next part, the next
- 6:07chapter, the next section of your life, the next part, What
- 6:11if it's one of the most beautiful parts?
- 6:14What if the next part teaches you something, introduces you to
- 6:17something or someone? What if you find out that this
- 6:21next part is what takes that smaller version of you that you
- 6:26became in that time, and it helps you become the bigger
- 6:30version of you that feels deserving and worthy and
- 6:33comfortable taking up the space that you were meant to take up?
- 6:37What if you get everything that you dreamed of because you bet
- 6:41on yourself and who you wanted to become?
- 6:44A lot of the chapters people end up loving in their lives did not
- 6:48begin with certainty. They began with nerves,
- 6:52uncertainty, apprehension. I can tell you from personal
- 6:56experience, most of the growth that we get to benefit from is
- 7:00the product of enduring some kind of pain or some kind of
- 7:06nerves and apprehension and uncertainty.
- 7:09But what if your mind is willing to open up to what lies beyond
- 7:13that pain, where it all becomes worth it?
- 7:17What could be possible? What if there was no wrong
- 7:21direction on the road? What if you just made one of the
- 7:24best decisions of your life? I know that I don't know what
- 7:31you're going through. I don't know what you're
- 7:32navigating, and I know that I can't see you right now, and you
- 7:38might have people around you in your life who tell you these
- 7:41kinds of things, but it never hurts to hear it.
- 7:43Once again, you are seen by people.
- 7:47You are so loved by the people around you, and you have so much
- 7:51impact beyond what you'll ever know.
- 7:54Even the smallest conversations that you have, that happenstance
- 7:57meeting, those are things that will change people in ways that
- 8:02you might never see. You have ripple effects that
- 8:06reach to the side of the lake and then the next lake and the
- 8:10next lake that you never even knew about.
- 8:13And I say all of this so that you feel a little courage and a
- 8:17little more hope and a little more gumption to keep going, to
- 8:22trust yourself and know that even in the darkest moments,
- 8:26there's always a little bit of light that you can find.
- 8:28You just have to open your eyes to it and ask what if.
- 8:32Even in the times where you doubted yourself, remember you
- 8:36did the best you could in the situation and the information
- 8:39that you had. There's no wrong direction on
- 8:42the road. What is meant for you will come
- 8:45in the right time. As long as we keep our eyes and
- 8:48our minds open to the what if, and as long as we keep the doors
- 8:52of possibility open instead of closing down what could be
- 8:55coming next because we're afraid of the unknown.
