- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to the High Level Wife Podcast.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I'm Chelsea Holm, your hostess, and We Knew Marriage God's way here.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: And uh this morning I was feeling weary.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: I was feeling like there were just so many thoughts of the past coming back.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Um, past hurts.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Uh just it it seemed abnormal because like the Lord has restored the years of Logos of Eaton.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Um the Lord has brought healing to me.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Um and so it just seemed out of out of normal.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Like I woke up thinking about these things, which was very strange, right?
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: And uh, you know, we get to choose whether we rehearse these hurts and offenses or we take them captive to Jesus Christ, right?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And so so I decided, you know, immediately I'm I'm not gonna entertain these.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: And so I just I I carried through my morning as I do, right?
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: First, God first, uh, right order.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: I sit down with the Lord.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Um, and actually lately it's so interesting.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: I used to start um, like I journal my Bible reading and my prayers because well, I get distracted easily and my thoughts run wild, and it helps me to keep them steady and grounded.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: And um, so I used to start all of my journal entries, if you will, with like and these I wouldn't hang on, pause there.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: So these are not journal entries like today.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: I went to the grocery store and yada, yada, yada, you know, uh PS.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, not that kind of journal entries.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Like these are this is like my time with the Lord.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: I sit down in solitude, I'm in prayer, I'm reading his word, I'm asking him questions, I am comparing it to um entries from you know, a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, looking for the answers to the prayers, looking for um just those threads that he weaves through things.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so I used to start these with just a verse um that we kind of just set off the the time.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, but probably I don't know how how long now, but I've started each morning with a song.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Like I just sit there for a second and like whatever song, whatever worship song comes to mind, like I just write out the lyrics.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Um, and it really sets my heart in the right posture before the Lord.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Um, it just orientates me to him.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Orientates?
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it's the right word.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Orients, no, orientates me to his heart, aligns me with his heart.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Um, and then, you know, if there are things weighing heavy, I will lean into just putting that on paper and just getting real and raw and honest before the Lord, drawing near to him, trusting fully that he draws near to me.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: And um, and so this morning I just, you know, I started, I'm just like, man, I'm just feeling really weary, Lord.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, and the what he he brought to me to my mind was um, first of all, like, and this is what I do, like this is how this is like an actual process of how do we take our thoughts captive to Christ, right?
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: So, first of all, the spirit, as we draw near to God, God draws near to us, right?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: We have the Holy Spirit that enables and equips us to be able to walk according to the spirit and not according to the flesh, not according to the world, not according to culture, not according to lies, none of that, right?
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: It enables us to guard against uh being deceived, against cunning of the enemy, right?
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: It guards us against the desires of our flesh carrying us off that leads to sin, right?
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Um, and so the way this usually and practically works for me is you know, the Holy Spirit brings a passage to mind, right?
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: A verse, a passage, whatever, you know, a book of the Bible, it doesn't matter.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Like the Holy Spirit gives me what I need in that.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and so the the first passage that came to mind is you know Romans 12, 1 and 2, to not be conformed to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, right?
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: And then that led me to taking our thoughts captive, um, which is 2 Corinthians 10.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's so interesting because 2 Corinthians 10:4 is that you know, we do not war with the weapons of the flesh, right?
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: We have weapons of divine power to destroy strongholds, and this is the the verse that uh Pastor Errol chose for me when we became members of our church at Mission Bible Church in Manuka.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, so it's it's just that verse has just become such a uh a hefty thread woven through everything that I frequently pull uh for strength and encouragement and reminder of who I am and whose I am and how I wore.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And you know, like taking my thoughts captive to Christ, and that led me to Philippians four, uh, starting in verse, well, actually, I backed it up to I think four, uh Philippians four, four, right?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Rejoice always in the Lord.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Again, I say rejoice, and then it goes into, you know, let your reasonable reasonableness be known among men, right?
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And then it continues into be anxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, right?
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus, and then it carries on to say, like, walk in these things, and that is how you have the peace of God with you, right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: The peace of God will be with you.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Um, and so that was kind of how the Lord helped me take my thoughts captive this morning to him to remind me because this passage in Philippians uh four, right, six and seven about being just for nothing but in everything, um, that was a core anchor for me.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Like um long ago, many, many years ago, when I experienced some of the deepest hurts uh in my marriage.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: And well, actually, we weren't even married at the time.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: We weren't even married yet.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, we were engaged, but we weren't married yet.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: And that became an a life anchor verse for me when I was walking through hurts that you know, I mean, we live in a in a broken world.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: We are imperfect people and we sin against each other and we sin against the Lord.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and none of those are right, those, those are wrong, and it's not to attack the flesh behind them that made those decisions or whatever, right?
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Or or stumbled or made mistakes and hurt other people, right?
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: It's we don't war against flesh and blood.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Um, but we need to sit in the understanding that this is not the way that God designed us, nor his world, right?
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Sin is not part of his design.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: And so just the realization that the hurts that you have endured, the hurts that you've been on the receiving end of, that's not God's way.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: And that grieves his heart.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: It's not right, and it's not just, but our God is a just God, and those right or those wrongs will be righted.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: So vengeance belongs to the Lord.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: We know that, right?
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: And it's not against our husbands or whoever has hurt us, right?
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: It's against the real enemy of this world, right?
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: The real enemy of our soul that seeks to kill and steal and destroy, right?
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: The enemy has sought to steal and kill and destroy my marriage before it even began.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't, I don't know if you understand that fully.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: You know, if you're familiar with my story, and I'm I don't want to dive into that.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: You can go back and listen to different episodes about that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I was feeling weary today, and I had this onslaught of thoughts about like decisions I've made in my life and how my life could have been very different had I made different decisions.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, like and you can see how that's a rabbit trail, rabbit holes that we we don't want to go down.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Why, why would we entertain those thoughts, right?
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: We are where we are today, and God is good, right?
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: And God has a plan.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's so easy for us to look back at maybe decisions that we feel like, okay, well, what if I made those right?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: We don't entertain the what ifs, okay?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: We just don't, right?
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Those are things we don't rehearse because there's no profit to be gained in them, right?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: It it does not, it does not build us up in the most holy faith.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: It doesn't, okay.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: It actually tears it down.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and you know, so this is where we have to take our thoughts captive.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: We have to take our thoughts captive.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Um oh yeah, I know that's what I was saying.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: So, like we have this way of looking back and idolizing just this image of what could have been, what if, and how like maybe it would have been better.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: But what we don't realize in that process is that we are still imperfect, sinful people, right?
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Redeemed by grace.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Like, so even if you made a different decision in your life, like God is still steadfast and good, but you are still imperfect and broken, right?
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Um, thankfully, made alive, right?
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Like, so don't get me wrong in that.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that, like, oh, we're just victims and we can't make good decisions, you know, and we can't we can't walk in holiness.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, we can walk in godliness because we are sealed and equipped and enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit living and dwelling in us.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, so hear me on that.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, so um, so my time sitting with the Lord this morning really turned into just just this whole process that I shared with you.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I decided, so I started off this morning just with that song on my heart of who else is worthy?
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Who else is worthy?
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: There is no one, right?
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: No one but you, Jesus.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I was like, Oh, I'm gonna go play that song, right?
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: And just sitting with the Lord.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: And so I opened Spotify, I'm playing that song, I'm just worshiping, you know, tears streaming down my face.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: And um, and then that led me to there's another song uh by the upper room called uh what's it called?
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: I can't remember what it's called.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Uh it's by the upper room.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: It's I think it's called Worthy.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Uh I can't remember, but it's such a good song.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: And I just I just it it hits me every time because it's directly from Revelation about the elders casting their crowns, and there is no one, right?
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Like Jesus, Jesus is the only one that is worthy to open the scroll to break the seal, mighty one, right?
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Um, and so yeah, and just being in that moment, um just with the Lord, worshiping him, being in his presence fully, right?
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Not not caring about anybody else around, you know, there's nobody else around.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: It was just me sitting in my dining room, worshiping the Lord.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: Um, and then um the Holy Spirit put double portion on my mind.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: It wasn't a lyric in a song, but it came to mind.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: And so I do as I do, and I went to my trusty little thin Bible concordance back here and looked up portion, and it took me to Isaiah 61.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Now, this is where you guys, the Lord gives us exactly what we need when we need it, and it is so specific, almost as if he tailored it and wrote it specifically for us.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Like there are so many layers to this, so many layers.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: So I go to Psalm 61.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: First of all, it's titled The Year of the Lord's Favor.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: Okay, I think in the the last episode that I dropped, um, I talked about us on this precipice of going into a new season where God is just going to blow the top off of things.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Um a double portion, if you will.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and so just that alone, the year of the Lord's favor, like that is that's where I'm standing, like the year of the Lord's favor, being in it and stepping into it more fully.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: And so I want to read you Psalm 61 and just let it minister to your heart as it has for mine.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: And um, after I read it, I'll go back and I want to to give you specifics of like how this spoke so deeply to my soul and refreshed my bones.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: I'll see if I can get through this without crying, but here we go.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: So Psalm 60, or I'm sorry, Isaiah 61.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor or the afflicted.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound, or the opening of the eyes to those who are blind, in recovery of sight to the blind, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, to grant to those who mourn in Zion, to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit, that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified, that he may display his beauty.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: They shall build up the ancient ruins, they shall raise up the former devastations, they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations, strangers shall stand and tend your flocks, foreigners shall be your of the Lord.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: They shall speak of you as the ministers of our God, you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Instead of your shame, there shall be a double portion.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Instead of dishonor, they shall rejoice in their lot.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Therefore, in their land they shall possess a double portion, they shall have everlasting joy.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: For I, the Lord, love justice.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I hate robbery and wrong.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Their offspring shall be known among the nations and their descendants in the midst of the peoples.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: All who see them shall acknowledge them that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I will greatly rejoice in the Lord.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: My soul shall exalt in my God, for he has clothed me with garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels, for as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: So I literally took, I I like to write in my Bible.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Um, I wrote on here 9126, He gave me a double portion.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: So, right out of the gate, the spirit of the Lord God is upon me.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: I've been asking the Lord to rest his spirit heavily upon me, and he is because the Lord has anointed me.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: My friend and co-coach inside high level wife, Katie Wilman, literally anointed me a little over a month ago.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: And I know that I've been appointed to lead high-level wife since Tommy and I had that first discussion back in November of uh 2024.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: I think it was, yeah, 2024 already.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, to bring good news to the afflicted, to wives that are in marriages that are not flourishing the way that God designed them and not living freely in the function and authority that God created us as women and wives for.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, literally, call after call after call.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Over the last two years of these welcome calls that I do with every single wife that comes into high-level wife.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: I there is a hundred percent rate over two years almost of calls with women that cry because it's the first time they've been seen and heard about the hurts and the challenges and the hangups and the offenses in their marriage.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Not that they're victims, not at all, right?
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: And not that their husbands are the enemies, not at all, but the enemy of our souls has sought to kill, steal, and destroy us, our spouses, and our marriages.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: So I am literally here binding up the brokenhearted, listening to women say, I don't know why I'm crying, I'm not normally like this.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Or this is the first time I've been able to fully talk about this.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: I'm binding up the brokenhearted by God's grace.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: I'm proclaiming liberty to the captives, right?
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: That there is freedom in Christ.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Those who are free in Christ are free indeed.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Whom the Son has set free is free indeed, but we don't walk in freedom.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: But there is freedom for us to walk in, right?
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Opening of the prison to those who are bound.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: My Bible has a note that says the opening of the eyes to those who are blind.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Week after week, I talk about how we have to build this muscle of being able to see and hear with our spiritual eyes and ears.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: This is new for us because we were once dead in our sins and in our flesh.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: We can only see with physical eyes and hear with physical ears of what was right in front of us and around us.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: We didn't have the ability, we were not equipped or enabled with the Holy Spirit to be able to see and hear with spiritual eyes and ears, but now we are.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: And I get to preach this, I get to proclaim this to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: I am literally here proclaiming God's favor over marriages, that his vengeance for the enemy is coming.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Right, comforting those who mourn, mourning marriages as they should have been, but have not been because of the enemy, because of the flesh, because of the world, because of the lies and the cunnings and the deceptions of the enemy.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: So many of us wives sit in the ashes of the brokenness and devastation and destruction of our marriages.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: The oil of gladness instead of mourning.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: The garment of praise instead of a faint spirit.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: So many wives, and I have experienced this firsthand.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: We have we're faint in spirit.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: We're weary, right?
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: There are our husbands.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm literally here getting to proclaim these things, giving these things.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Praise God, because it's by his hand and by his provision, not mine.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: He's a huge grasshopper that just landed on my porch.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Oh God, I love your nature.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: It just intrigues me so.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: All right, and then here's this is so great.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Okay, so that they may be called oaks of righteousness.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: So my grandma, you know, I'm a thick-thyed sister.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: My grandma, my mom's mom.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, she died when I think she was only like she she was in her 60s, she died young, um, cancer, just uh the whole thing.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Anyway, but she always said that that I I was like a mighty oak, that my legs were like mighty oak trees.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: And she always said, I'd hate to be kicked by you because I would definitely get hurt.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Grandma, I would never kick you.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: But anyway, this this um but they Be called Oaks of Righteousness, like it just has that personal weird thing, just for me here, but it's for everybody, right?
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: The planting of the Lord that where He plants me, that He may be glorified, right?
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: That He may display His beauty.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: I've said my marriage is my greatest weakness, and it is where God's glory and power is on display.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: And the devastations of many generations, right?
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: In a marriage, we're experiencing generational cycles of patterns and destruction.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Like instead of a shame, right?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: We have shame for how our marriages are today, right?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: We want the world to see us as a certain way.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: So we pretend and we present ourselves a certain way, but behind closed doors, there's devastation and destruction.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: But no, instead of this shame, we get a double portion.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: Instead of dishonor, we rejoice in our lot, in our decisions, right?
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: That the Lord has been gracious and kind to us.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: Therefore, in their land they shall possess a double portion and they shall have everlasting joy, right?
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: As I was saying, God hates wrong and robbery, right?
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: Robbing us of the marriage we should have had, wronging us with cunning and lies and deception and hurts of all kinds.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: But he faithfully gives us recompense and makes an everlasting covenant with us, right?
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: And it's not just us.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: I say this all the time that your marriage isn't the point.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: This is about God being glorified in generations, seeking his face through right order and obedience to him.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: So it's their offspring shall be known among the nations and the descendants in the midst of peoples.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: All who see them shall acknowledge them, and they and that they are an offspring of the Lord that he has blessed.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: This is for our kids.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: This is for our kids, okay.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: And this is where my own soul cries out I will greatly rejoice in the Lord.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: My soul shall exalt in my God, for he has clothed me with garments of salvation.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: This dead, dirty orphan girl that never belonged anywhere has been clothed with garments of salvation and covered with a robe of righteousness.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: That I am presented holy and blameless before him, spotless, without blemish.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: And I am always saying that marriage is this profound mystery of actually Christ and his bride, the church.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: And we have this portion here in scripture that says a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: He brings marriage in.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: And then he ends with, for as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, this is a law of the Lord that we reap what is sown.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: But what the enemy has sown and our flesh has sown is not what grows, but what God causes, what he has sown, what we have sown to sprout up.
