- 2:01Speaker 1: kind of looked into a lot of that, uh, that
- 2:04Speaker 1: narrative and a lot of it is bullshit. And then
- 2:07Speaker 1: I just I hit up Killer Mike and I was like, Yo, Mike,
- 2:13Speaker 1: am I tripping because like, I interviewed this guy and
- 2:17Speaker 1: I didn't press him on any of the quote unquote

- 3:38Speaker 1: on to it because his album is about to come
- 3:40Speaker 1: out and Conway was the reason why I got into Griselda.
- 3:49Speaker 1: So this guy is an elite MC solid dude, has
- 3:54Speaker 1: a crazy story and I might even throw in I
- 3:57Speaker 1: think this is probably the best interview he's ever done,
- 4:00Speaker 1: so at least that I've seen. I mean, no biased.
- 4:03Speaker 1: All right, let's get into it. The Conway the Machine
- 4:05Speaker 1: episode of the boutleg Cat podcast. Thank you so much
- 4:10Speaker 1: for tuning in every week. Thank you. I appreciate it.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Share it with your people. Let's get to it. Boutle
- 4:17Speaker 1: care Podcasts. We got Conway the motherfucking Machine, Ladies and gentlemen. Yes,
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's good, yo, man. I gotta thank you because you
- 4:26Speaker 1: pulled up on me last night. You're in l A.
- 4:28Speaker 1: You know, we'll talk about what you're doing in l
- 4:30Speaker 1: a little bit later, but you in l A and uh,
- 4:33Speaker 1: you played me to your albums, the Shady Records debut,
- 4:39Speaker 1: which is which is you know to be determined? When
- 4:42Speaker 1: that when when the rest of the world hears that
- 4:45Speaker 1: they're not going to be disappointed by the way. Uh,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then you're a new project that is, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 1: ship a little bit for everybody on there. Man. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 1: like I say, Man, know, I purposely try to like
- 5:02Speaker 1: go outside of you know what people like my fans
- 5:06Speaker 1: may expect coming from me, because I put out a
- 5:09Speaker 1: lot of tapes that's just like you know, I be
- 5:11Speaker 1: on my just super grimy rap bag, and I'd be
- 5:15Speaker 1: wanting to just keep my my same chemistry, my same formula.
- 5:19Speaker 1: But like Damren during Alchemists, you know, yeah, but I
- 5:22Speaker 1: fucked with some you know, some different producers I never
- 5:26Speaker 1: worked with, like Havoc, you know what I'm saying. And
- 5:29Speaker 1: you got Havoc out on the hook too. I have
- 5:31Speaker 1: it on the hook. So I wanted to defend Eric Simon,
- 5:34Speaker 1: my deep Eric Simon on there and you know my
- 5:38Speaker 1: man treasy heat. You know, I'm becoming a man through
- 5:41Speaker 1: like this Instagram that's the change record and that beat
- 5:44Speaker 1: is crazy. Yeah. So I just try to, you know
- 5:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying, try to go with my approach a
- 5:50Speaker 1: little different, that's all, but it's still the same, same,
- 5:55Speaker 1: same machine, same you know. The bars is pressure, you
- 5:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, And I'm happy with him, man,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I love it. I think it's some of my best ship. Yo.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's incredible, and I think that what makes you you.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You had a great reference yesterday when we were in
- 6:11Speaker 1: the studio talking. I'll let you break it down. When
- 6:16Speaker 1: you think of Griselda as a human body like you,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you said, Gun is the brain. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we's
- 6:25Speaker 1: Danny is the muscle. I forget what you said, daring
- 6:29Speaker 1: respiratory system, but you're the heart. Yeah. I put the
- 6:32Speaker 1: emotion in it, you know what I'm saying. You know,
- 6:35Speaker 1: musically I put I put you know, just that feel
- 6:39Speaker 1: that that you know what I mean. You listen on
- 6:41Speaker 1: my ship, if you it's like if you know, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and if you know that should have make like the
- 6:46Speaker 1: hair on the back of your next stand up. You
- 6:48Speaker 1: get goose bumps listening to my ship facts what I'm saying,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and I just feel like Darren, j'all call, I'm like
- 6:53Speaker 1: the respiratory system because like that production and that you know,
- 6:57Speaker 1: that's the sound. So that's like, that's the what broke
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, that was the breath, that was the oxygen
- 7:02Speaker 1: and to make it all work. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:05Speaker 1: The brain and the heart ain't gonna work without oxygen,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I look at it like that,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and I'm just thankful for them doors. And so when
- 7:16Speaker 1: we're talking, like, uh, you being so like you be
- 7:20Speaker 1: in the heart of the crew, and I feel like,
- 7:22Speaker 1: what would makes what people people relate to you? Like
- 7:25Speaker 1: you said, it's that pain in your music, bro, And
- 7:29Speaker 1: what made you want to be put yourself out there
- 7:32Speaker 1: and be so vulnerable on records? Because a lot because
- 7:34Speaker 1: like you're obviously you know, you talk about the other ship,
- 7:38Speaker 1: the street ship, the coke shit, all that shit. But
- 7:40Speaker 1: you also I think you're you're vulnerable in a way
- 7:44Speaker 1: that not a lot of artists allow their fans in on.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Like you know, there's not a lot of people who
- 7:48Speaker 1: talk in deepthly about personal life and experience. Like what
- 7:53Speaker 1: made you make that decision? I don't know, man. I
- 7:56Speaker 1: think it was a part of, like, you know, the
- 7:59Speaker 1: rehab that I had to put myself through after when
- 8:03Speaker 1: I got shot, right, I'm saying, I had to overcome
- 8:05Speaker 1: like a lot of like to get my confidence back up,
- 8:10Speaker 1: to get my you know, I didn't even you know,
- 8:13Speaker 1: I didn't even want to leave a house and all
- 8:15Speaker 1: type of shit like my parents. I just wasn't comfortable
- 8:19Speaker 1: with my parents at that time, and I just had
- 8:21Speaker 1: to you know, move different and think different. And I think,
- 8:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, what helped me being able
- 8:26Speaker 1: to deal with you know that that uh you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: being you know, depressed and all that shit over over
- 8:34Speaker 1: my parents and shit. I think I had to just
- 8:37Speaker 1: kind of like I think, being more honest and being
- 8:40Speaker 1: more transparent and my music kind of helped me open
- 8:43Speaker 1: up almost like there was like a burden lift off
- 8:46Speaker 1: your shoulder, like just be free. I don't remember which
- 8:48Speaker 1: record this was Conway, because I listened to so many
- 8:51Speaker 1: songs last night. But when we talk about you speaking
- 8:57Speaker 1: about your demons and your experiences and shit, you were
- 9:01Speaker 1: talking about your drinking problem right right on cue as
- 9:07Speaker 1: I'm taking a sip, right and now, I mean, look
- 9:11Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like we all got
- 9:12Speaker 1: our fucking demons, right, Like, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 9:15Speaker 1: do you do you consider yourself someone who's like an
- 9:18Speaker 1: alcoholic at all? Yes? Yes, I'm I consider myself an alcoholic,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, functioning of course, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I mean like I don't know. I feel like it's
- 9:33Speaker 1: levels to that word like you know what I'm saying,
- 9:35Speaker 1: Like I ain't. I've seen some alcoholics that just turning
- 9:38Speaker 1: on like bombs and like win no whinyl, you know
- 9:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But I do you know, I enjoy
- 9:44Speaker 1: a nice cocktail with dinner, you know what I'm saying,
- 9:47Speaker 1: Or cord I'm in a store, I'm definitely gonna let
- 9:50Speaker 1: me back off a bottle of douce or something. You
- 9:52Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Has that how you always have been?
- 9:55Speaker 1: Or was that something? Because obviously, like you said, man,
- 9:57Speaker 1: like you got shot, you come out of the hospital.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You I can only imagine how hard it is to
- 10:05Speaker 1: like like you said, like you being able to talk
- 10:08Speaker 1: about it in your music it helped you like feel
- 10:11Speaker 1: free and shit. But I can imagine, you know, going
- 10:14Speaker 1: through some shit like that. That's gotta be like like
- 10:17Speaker 1: you gotta, like, like you said, depression is involved, Like
- 10:21Speaker 1: did you resort to like alcohol to help you get
- 10:23Speaker 1: through some of that shit? Yeah, I'm gonna be honest,
- 10:27Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I used to I used to,
- 10:30Speaker 1: like I said, like for me, like I would be
- 10:36Speaker 1: drinking and shit to try to, like so I can
- 10:38Speaker 1: keep shit off my mind, not be thinking about the
- 10:41Speaker 1: shit that I'll be depressed about it, like a lot
- 10:45Speaker 1: of things that you know, I've been going through over
- 10:47Speaker 1: the last couple of years, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So I just like like hide behind a bottle kinda
- 10:55Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But I've been able to you
- 11:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. The best thing you could do
- 11:01Speaker 1: is just face shit, you know what I'm saying. They
- 11:03Speaker 1: add on like sometimes you just gotta look look shit
- 11:07Speaker 1: and look your demons in the eyes, like you know
- 11:09Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's how you get get past them ships,
- 11:12Speaker 1: get over them shits, you know what I'm saying. And
- 11:14Speaker 1: so out. You know, I definitely, uh, you know what
- 11:19Speaker 1: i mean, gravitated to to the to the liquor and
- 11:21Speaker 1: shit a little more than usual, you know what I'm saying,
- 11:24Speaker 1: because it was like I just didn't want to think
- 11:26Speaker 1: about I just wanted to forget everything and just you
- 11:30Speaker 1: know what i mean, like just have fun, just be
- 11:32Speaker 1: a fun like because it's funny, like you know what
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm saying. Like a lot of people like if they
- 11:38Speaker 1: don't know me or that never been around me, they
- 11:41Speaker 1: be thinking like like I'm like, I'm screw facing them more.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, yeah, yeah, they be looking at
- 11:46Speaker 1: you crazy if they don't know your story or like
- 11:48Speaker 1: they think, yeah, I'm just like I'm on ship, Like
- 11:50Speaker 1: I'm just this big this mean you know what I'm
- 11:53Speaker 1: saying bad dudes. So I try to, like, you know
- 11:58Speaker 1: what I'm saying, drink and joke around and stuff kind
- 12:00Speaker 1: of like the you know what I'm saying to you know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: lighten the mood, so to speak. But like I said,
- 12:07Speaker 1: like behind closed doors and shit, like, man, it's a
- 12:11Speaker 1: lot man, personally, it's a lot professionally. It's something now
- 12:16Speaker 1: that you're kind of known for it. And on one
- 12:17Speaker 1: of the records that I heard last night, you had said,
- 12:19Speaker 1: like I wonder if essentially if you never got shot,
- 12:23Speaker 1: never had ball the Bell's palsy, would there still be
- 12:26Speaker 1: murals of you on walls and all that shit. So
- 12:31Speaker 1: it's like, obviously it's a personal, you know, situation that
- 12:35Speaker 1: you're dealing with, but I think you also recognize that,
- 12:38Speaker 1: like it's a part of your hip hop character now,
- 12:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, absolutely, I definitely accept it.
- 12:46Speaker 1: And and and wear it. You know what I'm saying,
- 12:50Speaker 1: more prideful, like more you know what I'm saying, more
- 12:54Speaker 1: comfortable with you know what I'm saying. The bell's pausey
- 12:56Speaker 1: and shit, and I do realize. I feel like everything
- 12:59Speaker 1: that come from as a blessing, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So God don't make mistakes. God don't make mistakes. So
- 13:04Speaker 1: this was I feel like maybe this was the blessing
- 13:07Speaker 1: that I needed because like around the time, like when
- 13:09Speaker 1: I got shot, like I was, I was, I was
- 13:12Speaker 1: moving different. I really wasn't taking music serious, you know
- 13:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like we was outside, you know what
- 13:18Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I feel like, you know what I mean.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Sometimes I think about it like that, like damn, I
- 13:24Speaker 1: feel like God just did that, you know what I mean,
- 13:26Speaker 1: like almost almost like as a signal, like look, man,
- 13:30Speaker 1: like this, you got so much got you so gifted,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you got so much potential and so much ahead of you,
- 13:35Speaker 1: but you ain't taking a shit serious. So you know
- 13:37Speaker 1: what I'm you know what I mean? Life like that.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It's crazy too because probably your your verse that you're
- 13:45Speaker 1: most famous for, the cow right, Yeah, that specific record
- 13:50Speaker 1: when you talk about your boy getting shot and how
- 13:55Speaker 1: it was almost like a blessing that you didn't know
- 13:58Speaker 1: who did it because you could have winning. You would
- 14:00Speaker 1: have obviously went and gotten revenge. What if and you
- 14:03Speaker 1: wouldn't have been sitting here right because I mean, or
- 14:06Speaker 1: you might have been, but you know what I'm saying,
- 14:09Speaker 1: it's almost like you said, like God, don't make mistakes
- 14:12Speaker 1: like yo, like like you're in this position now now
- 14:16Speaker 1: they gotta mention you top five. You know what I'm saying,
- 14:19Speaker 1: right right? You know what I mean? Things could have
- 14:21Speaker 1: won a lot definitely and been a lot worse. So
- 14:24Speaker 1: that was another thing that helped me kind of overcome,
- 14:26Speaker 1: like you know, be on some ship. Like man, what
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm tripping for? Like I'm still alive, you know what
- 14:31Speaker 1: I'm saying. I'm still gonna got money. I could still rap,
- 14:35Speaker 1: I can still talk, I can still walk, I could
- 14:37Speaker 1: still fuck before for the show, you know what I mean?
- 14:42Speaker 1: When I got to be you know what I'm saying,
- 14:44Speaker 1: what did Uh? I was at the Noble tonight, the
- 14:47Speaker 1: whole was there and uh when when you got off stage,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you guys had a conversation after you did the cow right,
- 14:53Speaker 1: what was that short? You know exchange between you two
- 14:57Speaker 1: was it? It was pretty much like about that, like
- 15:00Speaker 1: just like man, like, you know what I'm saying, be
- 15:03Speaker 1: proud of like how far you made it, and like
- 15:07Speaker 1: where the ship you're doing and where you taking it
- 15:09Speaker 1: to like nigga, you you see what you're doing out here? Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: let them tears out, let them shit fall, you know
- 15:15Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And and and really just asking me
- 15:18Speaker 1: about after that. We were just really talking about, uh,
- 15:21Speaker 1: that that song I did it Overdose. He was just like, Yo,
- 15:25Speaker 1: what's that song you did? Like three songs back? That
- 15:28Speaker 1: shit crazy? You know what I'm saying? That uh shit
- 15:31Speaker 1: out there with Alchemists called Overdose. We were just talking
- 15:34Speaker 1: about that. But it was just really just letting me know,
- 15:37Speaker 1: like and it was just I needed to hear that
- 15:40Speaker 1: from somebody like him, like man like, because I had
- 15:44Speaker 1: broke down on stage and shit lying and all that,
- 15:47Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, I don't be knowing
- 15:48Speaker 1: how to like suppress that shit. Man. Sometimes it just
- 15:52Speaker 1: be it has to come out because I've been out,
- 15:56Speaker 1: like lashed out at somebody. It had just going to
- 15:59Speaker 1: come out in some other way, some other way, a
- 16:02Speaker 1: negative way. Possibly. Yeah, that's why I appreciated hearing that
- 16:05Speaker 1: from him, Like, man, don't don't don't don't hold that in, bro,
- 16:09Speaker 1: don't hold it in. Like let that out, man, that's
- 16:12Speaker 1: real ship, Like, let that ship out, Man, don't worry
- 16:15Speaker 1: about that. You know. What's crazy is as as as
- 16:18Speaker 1: like as much as that verse like penetrating my soul. Bro,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Like you got some new ship that is crazy, as
- 16:28Speaker 1: far as like the pain ship. Like man, man, you
- 16:33Speaker 1: was playing some ship last night that was real, real deep.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You know. I feel like like you you you were
- 16:42Speaker 1: saying you were like, Yo, there's so much stuff that
- 16:44Speaker 1: like like you've been through a lot, bro, Your your
- 16:47Speaker 1: life is crazy as far as just like a lot
- 16:49Speaker 1: of tragedies that you had to deal with. Yeah, you
- 16:52Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. People close to you, you know
- 16:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying, ship like that you almost dyeing yourself
- 17:01Speaker 1: and then even just kind of seeing like how hip
- 17:05Speaker 1: hop we've lost a lot of people recently, Pop smoke,
- 17:08Speaker 1: rest in peace. You know what I'm saying. Wow, And
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're somebody who actually was like really involved with shit,
- 17:16Speaker 1: right have you had a hard time with you know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you're moving around different cities shit like that, Like do
- 17:28Speaker 1: you ever like I don't know if you got problems
- 17:31Speaker 1: in the streets or whatever, but do you ever like
- 17:34Speaker 1: Biggie was super paranoid, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 17:37Speaker 1: you heard it in his music, Like when you like like,
- 17:39Speaker 1: do you ever find yourself looking over your shoulder like
- 17:41Speaker 1: or just being like can you ever just relax being
- 17:45Speaker 1: conway now that you're you know what I'm saying, with
- 17:47Speaker 1: the life you've lived, honestly, No, Like no, I tried to,
- 17:56Speaker 1: like I'm gonna keep it a thousand like I tried.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I tried being on that type of time like chilling
- 18:01Speaker 1: and relaxing, like I don't have no problems like in
- 18:04Speaker 1: the streets, like no beed like you know what I mean,
- 18:07Speaker 1: I don't be on that type of time. I was
- 18:09Speaker 1: one of them dudes. That's why a lot of people
- 18:12Speaker 1: in my city like niggas that's in the streets and
- 18:14Speaker 1: shiit like that kind of like like respect how and
- 18:17Speaker 1: move like and look up to me, because like I
- 18:19Speaker 1: was one of them dudes that put all that shit
- 18:21Speaker 1: on the back seat. That shit took a back seat
- 18:23Speaker 1: to this music shit. I like, after I got shot,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I realized, like you know what I mean like this
- 18:29Speaker 1: shit ain't ain't it ain't what it is. I even
- 18:31Speaker 1: I went broke, you know what I'm saying, and all
- 18:34Speaker 1: I wasn't hustling. I went broke, and I was just
- 18:36Speaker 1: like because I'm like, I'm not going back in the
- 18:38Speaker 1: hood like I'm chilling. I'm over here Darrens your house,
- 18:42Speaker 1: recording and just working on my craft, getting better at
- 18:47Speaker 1: rapping because I was still kind of like trying to
- 18:49Speaker 1: find my lane because I couldn't really like when my
- 18:53Speaker 1: jaw couldn't really open my ship that well, I was
- 18:56Speaker 1: like your way to rest, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:58Speaker 1: So I'm still getting myself together, but at the same time,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I already had my mind made up like like this ship,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the streets, even the streets everything, Like when you're making sacrifices, man,
- 19:10Speaker 1: like everything gotta if you want something bad enough, sometimes
- 19:13Speaker 1: you gotta make like some difficult sacrifices man, like you know,
- 19:18Speaker 1: ship time, where my family, my kids? Of course, yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 1: that's what anything being broke. I tell the home low
- 19:27Speaker 1: homies all the time, like sometimes you got to learn
- 19:29Speaker 1: how to be broken bored sometimes, like niggas be broken,
- 19:32Speaker 1: niggas be boring. Niggas go outside, they end up fucking
- 19:34Speaker 1: doing some dumb shit because yep, sometimes you gotta know
- 19:38Speaker 1: how to just like man broke one out, you know
- 19:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But back to what you're saying, Like
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know, I try to to you know, remove that
- 19:50Speaker 1: that that street paranoise of knowing, because I know how
- 19:53Speaker 1: the streets is. The streets is nasty, especially like for
- 19:57Speaker 1: rappers like niggas in this like niggas, rappers ain't safe
- 20:01Speaker 1: just because you're a rapper like you, you know, there's
- 20:04Speaker 1: somebody in that city who you know, you might get
- 20:06Speaker 1: caught slipping. Like, Bro, I got robbed. I got robbed
- 20:09Speaker 1: in Atlanta. Bro, this is the this is the first
- 20:11Speaker 1: day of the first uh that tour that ended at
- 20:15Speaker 1: the Noble. The first show was in Atlanta. I'm leaving
- 20:17Speaker 1: them all, nigga, nigga call me lacking, you know what
- 20:20Speaker 1: I'm saying. Snatched the door open, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:24Speaker 1: But I just charged that ship to the game because
- 20:27Speaker 1: I know how sometimes you gotta you gotta learn when
- 20:29Speaker 1: to take the l like you know what I'm saying, Well,
- 20:31Speaker 1: you know, but but that's what it is. So now
- 20:35Speaker 1: that paranoia is back. Now. You know what I'm saying.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I gotta have you know what I mean, A fifty
- 20:41Speaker 1: clip on the A yo, not not for nothing. When
- 20:44Speaker 1: that kind of shit happens to you the raide, you feel, Yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I got the feeling too comfortable, man, because I'm the
- 20:51Speaker 1: type of nigga like I have no fears or nothing
- 20:54Speaker 1: of nobody like you feel me like, I know, God,
- 20:56Speaker 1: all the ship I've been through, if I could get
- 20:58Speaker 1: through that, nigga, I ain't worried about no nig or
- 21:00Speaker 1: nothing happening to me. So I'll be everywhere by myself.
- 21:04Speaker 1: You see how I pull up here? Yeah? Me, you
- 21:06Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Chad, that's it, That's it. I
- 21:08Speaker 1: don't really move with a gang. I don't have no fears,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and I'm like, you know what I mean, I got
- 21:14Speaker 1: lost in that comfort zone. So now you know I'm back.
- 21:17Speaker 1: You know what I man, I'm back, yok situated. We
- 21:22Speaker 1: was talking about how you guys kind of have have
- 21:27Speaker 1: lived through so many eras of hip hop right and
- 21:30Speaker 1: that there was a point in time that one O
- 21:31Speaker 1: six and park ship like where you where you might
- 21:34Speaker 1: not have been necessarily making the music. We know you
- 21:36Speaker 1: for making at the moment, I'm curious, like the Griselda sound,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you and Gun at at what point in time do
- 21:47Speaker 1: you feel like you guys figured that out where you
- 21:52Speaker 1: guys were like, yeah, this is like because it obviously
- 21:54Speaker 1: wasn't off the rip like when you guys felt like
- 21:58Speaker 1: you guys was pocket it was off the rep. But
- 22:01Speaker 1: we we we we got we got blinded. Like most
- 22:05Speaker 1: rappers are trying to chase hit what's popping? And you
- 22:09Speaker 1: know what I mean, what's something? What we think people
- 22:11Speaker 1: going like like this is what they want to hear
- 22:13Speaker 1: popping some bottles stand, you know what I'm saying. So
- 22:18Speaker 1: we kind of, you know what i mean, deviated. But
- 22:20Speaker 1: the funny thing is is like we are family, but
- 22:22Speaker 1: it ain't like we never really like joint forces like
- 22:28Speaker 1: like that until like later on in life far as
- 22:31Speaker 1: like being a group or a label, you know what
- 22:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. So everybody was individually doing their own thing,
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like Benny was doing him
- 22:41Speaker 1: I was doing making music and doing what I'm doing
- 22:44Speaker 1: with and West was was you know what I'm saying.
- 22:47Speaker 1: He lived down south, he lived in Atlanta, and he
- 22:50Speaker 1: was like you know, working around like in the streets,
- 22:53Speaker 1: he was, you know, west to tell you like he
- 22:54Speaker 1: wasn't doing the rapper time and none of that ship
- 22:57Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But we all family, and
- 22:59Speaker 1: he loves hip hop, like you know, he's just you know,
- 23:02Speaker 1: probably your biggest hip hop fan, just a lover of
- 23:05Speaker 1: hip hop. So he will always just be around because
- 23:09Speaker 1: knowing how good I am and then how good Benny getting,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, So he would always be.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But he wouldn't rap in the ciphers. He wouldn't get
- 23:16Speaker 1: on the records. He wouldn't He wasn't thinking about that.
- 23:20Speaker 1: But you know, you know after the you know that
- 23:24Speaker 1: after we we kind of figured that back out, like
- 23:27Speaker 1: you know, after I got shot, you know what I'm saying,
- 23:31Speaker 1: and west Side kind of like jumped in the driver's
- 23:34Speaker 1: seat like, yo, I gotta kind of you know what
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm saying, I gotta, you know, cause it looked like
- 23:41Speaker 1: for a minute like I'm you know, I was paralyzed
- 23:43Speaker 1: from the neck down, like almost some shit like that happens.
- 23:46Speaker 1: You're like it was over, Yeah, it's over, Like this
- 23:48Speaker 1: nigga Sam took bro out, you know what I'm saying,
- 23:51Speaker 1: shot this nigga his head and his neck. This nigga
- 23:53Speaker 1: peralyanin this nigga the wheelchair can't even move his jaw,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it's like West. That's
- 23:58Speaker 1: when West start doing like the hill where her Mas one.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And then by the time Part two came out, I
- 24:05Speaker 1: mustered up like one verse on there. I think, I think,
- 24:09Speaker 1: is that your first verse after getting shot? Yeah? Okay,
- 24:12Speaker 1: well not after getting shot, but my first verse. Like
- 24:16Speaker 1: for like Griselda Records, Chazelda Records wasn't even a thing
- 24:20Speaker 1: when we did Hitler two. Oh, the first actual Griselda record.
- 24:26Speaker 1: When we thought of it, it was hauling the haul
- 24:28Speaker 1: of nash Ep. Okay, I'm saying, like, Yo, this's gonna
- 24:32Speaker 1: be the you know what I'm saying, It's gonna be
- 24:33Speaker 1: the first tape we're gonna call this ship what you
- 24:35Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I remember the phone called
- 24:37Speaker 1: a conversation like what you think about calling ship Griselda Records.
- 24:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. This would be the first tape,
- 24:43Speaker 1: you know what I mean, off the off, the off
- 24:45Speaker 1: the label, and it just grew from there, you know
- 24:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Yo, it's crazy. Like I think with
- 24:52Speaker 1: gun Man. Guns got one of the best minds I've
- 24:54Speaker 1: ever seen in the in the game, the guys just
- 24:59Speaker 1: like like you were saying, like he's just he's just
- 25:01Speaker 1: a visionary. Is there a fireless he's yeah, man like
- 25:07Speaker 1: and and too like y'all. You know he gonna do
- 25:09Speaker 1: if you want to do something, he said, he's gonna
- 25:11Speaker 1: do it and bring it to life. And and you
- 25:13Speaker 1: guys never ever ever, like Man, I just feel like
- 25:16Speaker 1: you guys have never pivoted away from like why why
- 25:20Speaker 1: why you're here? Yeah, which is which is hard to do.
- 25:24Speaker 1: To do what got you here? You know what I'm saying,
- 25:25Speaker 1: Keep doing what got you to where you're at. Man,
- 25:28Speaker 1: you don't try to don't deviate. But it's like you said,
- 25:31Speaker 1: it's hard. It's hard to do. And that's kind of
- 25:33Speaker 1: going back to like different King to a God album.
- 25:36Speaker 1: That's kind of what I was trying to like steer
- 25:37Speaker 1: away from, Like I don't want to. I want to,
- 25:40Speaker 1: you know, differentiate myself from like this project, from all
- 25:45Speaker 1: the other projects I dropped. But I don't want to
- 25:48Speaker 1: sound like I'm on some corny ship, right Like you're
- 25:50Speaker 1: trying too hard. You know, it don't sound like that
- 25:53Speaker 1: at all, not for sure. By the way, I think
- 25:56Speaker 1: my favorite line on there is you said the only
- 25:58Speaker 1: thing you need a bitch for is herd that it was,
- 26:02Speaker 1: So that's pretty much shit, y'o. What's crazy too is
- 26:07Speaker 1: when you you got a record and you and Fred
- 26:09Speaker 1: are kind of developing a cool little chemistry on records.
- 26:14Speaker 1: This song on this album caught me off guard because
- 26:18Speaker 1: when I saw you pull it out, I was like,
- 26:19Speaker 1: oh shit, Gibs Conway was definitely different than what I
- 26:24Speaker 1: was expected. Talk about y'all's because I saw y'all out
- 26:27Speaker 1: in Miami together, but talk about y'all's chemistry, and like,
- 26:30Speaker 1: you know, I feel like Griselda Fred, you know Black Thought,
- 26:36Speaker 1: you know, run the Jewel. I feel like there's some
- 26:37Speaker 1: Jedis in the game, you know what I'm saying. It's
- 26:39Speaker 1: like there's the Jedi Club. Royce is one of them,
- 26:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But you and Fred, like
- 26:44Speaker 1: I feel like between Fred and Grisel the album putting
- 26:48Speaker 1: out the best hip hop music for the last couple
- 26:49Speaker 1: of years. What's y'all's relationship and like, you know, that
- 26:55Speaker 1: chemistry has been wild on records so far, and it
- 26:59Speaker 1: took a wow for the for the record too, wow
- 27:01Speaker 1: for y'all to work together. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I
- 27:03Speaker 1: mean give that's my nigga, like Gibbs my nigga. Man,
- 27:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I got love with Giz.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Like every time I ever, you know, been around that
- 27:11Speaker 1: nigga or whatever, it's like it's love show and vice versa.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Like anytime he come around me, I try to, you
- 27:18Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, show the utmost love and respect
- 27:20Speaker 1: because I respect his craft and I just respect it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: You know the type of nigga he is, you know
- 27:25Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I went on tour with Gibs, so
- 27:27Speaker 1: I gotta kind of be a little got a little
- 27:29Speaker 1: closer with him, you know what I'm saying, and to
- 27:32Speaker 1: be around him a little more than I have in
- 27:34Speaker 1: the past, and I just got to see what type
- 27:36Speaker 1: of duty is and you know, I fuck with the nigga,
- 27:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And so it was only
- 27:41Speaker 1: right like we we always even before like this record
- 27:47Speaker 1: the Babies and Fools off his tape and shit like that,
- 27:51Speaker 1: like we've always talked and kicked it and about doing songs,
- 27:54Speaker 1: doing the record, doing the tape. Yeah, we gotta let's
- 27:57Speaker 1: do a tape. If y'all did a tape, that should
- 27:59Speaker 1: be crazytly exactly so. But you know what I mean,
- 28:03Speaker 1: it just you know what what, I'm one of them
- 28:06Speaker 1: type of niggas. Everything ain't about rat shit all the
- 28:09Speaker 1: time to me, So like if I hit you, I
- 28:10Speaker 1: ain't all the time, like yo, I got a joint
- 28:13Speaker 1: for you, Yo, Yo, I want you to I need
- 28:15Speaker 1: I need a worse bro. I need this, Like I
- 28:18Speaker 1: don't care about that rat shit all the time. Sometimes
- 28:20Speaker 1: I just be genuinely just tapping in, like what up,
- 28:23Speaker 1: bro with you? What you want you? Guys? Gonna ask you?
- 28:25Speaker 1: Because I feel like in hip hop, I mean especially y'all, man,
- 28:27Speaker 1: Like you know, there's there's like very few actual friends
- 28:33Speaker 1: you'll make in the hip hop business. Absolutely tons of acquaintances,
- 28:37Speaker 1: tons of people who you wrap up and you know
- 28:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying, you'll see it shows, you'll see it evanced,
- 28:42Speaker 1: but like actual friends that like if your rap career
- 28:46Speaker 1: went away tomorrow, that y'all would actually still be boys.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Like who's on that list for you? If anybody the
- 28:55Speaker 1: list is short, I'm gonna be honest with you. Of
- 28:57Speaker 1: course it is this just short cause you know what
- 28:59Speaker 1: I mean, Like you got to keep in mindment a
- 29:01Speaker 1: lot of these niggas caps, so they're just sometimes they
- 29:04Speaker 1: say ship, you know, because it sounds good because you
- 29:06Speaker 1: ran into it. Yeah, you know what I mean. You
- 29:10Speaker 1: had a nigga and the nigga don't even answer you
- 29:13Speaker 1: trakes back, but tried to say, you know, resting peace Prodigy.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That was probably the prategy was early with y'all. Mo. Yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, like resting peace to my
- 29:23Speaker 1: boy Prodigy. Man, that was my real friend. Ray Kwan
- 29:29Speaker 1: did the intro in the BRAZILA. That's my real friend.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I like to consider us like real friends. Royce the
- 29:35Speaker 1: five nine, for sure, that's my brother. Like always love,
- 29:40Speaker 1: always love. You know what I'm saying, outside of any
- 29:43Speaker 1: rap ship, like you know what I mean. I look
- 29:45Speaker 1: at it like we two of the Ellis lyricists. Man,
- 29:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean, we only got you know,
- 29:50Speaker 1: one of two or three songs like because it ain't
- 29:52Speaker 1: about rap, it's genuine love. Flee Lord, that's my brother.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I remember what which project we heard? The Flee Ship,
- 30:02Speaker 1: He snapped on that ship though, Yeah, yeah, flee when
- 30:04Speaker 1: flees on from Kings to a God? Okay, was that
- 30:07Speaker 1: that ship would have it? Yeah? Yeah, that's right, you
- 30:09Speaker 1: have it. Action Brons in the Court. I fun with
- 30:13Speaker 1: act Mayhem, Lorn those like bro friends of mines. You
- 30:17Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yo, this is more. But I
- 30:20Speaker 1: can't think right right right right, So if you didn't
- 30:22Speaker 1: get named, don't be infected. Right, I'm gonna get a text.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Damn broll. You don't fuck with me like that. Yeah,
- 30:29Speaker 1: I just I don't even high right now, baby, something
- 30:33Speaker 1: that I don't know if we're gonna be able to
- 30:35Speaker 1: put out or not. But you're in l a helping
- 30:38Speaker 1: You were helping Kanye write some ship. Yeah, I'm doing
- 30:41Speaker 1: a little ghost you know, collaboration this man. I'm just
- 30:46Speaker 1: you know, I'm in a room for the for the
- 30:48Speaker 1: for the vibe man and the inspiration. Yeah, all other
- 30:52Speaker 1: Kanye shipped aside. He's one of the greatest artists of
- 30:56Speaker 1: all time. Uh. And I'm curious how did the relationship
- 30:59Speaker 1: with you and like, how did you end up in
- 31:02Speaker 1: that discuss somebody else that I forgot that I can
- 31:05Speaker 1: saider Kanye like a real friend. You and Kanye you
- 31:08Speaker 1: would consider him a friend absolutely, You've been around him recently,
- 31:11Speaker 1: how do you feel like, is he like good? It's
- 31:13Speaker 1: like he in good spirits, Like he's in good spirits.
- 31:19Speaker 1: But it's like, see, I don't know because I had
- 31:21Speaker 1: I didn't know him prior, prior to what people would
- 31:25Speaker 1: say him changing and going, you know, going left, you
- 31:29Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I don't know. But just
- 31:31Speaker 1: me being around him, man, I know it's hard. I know.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I know. I said that on Twitter at the other day.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I'm like, Yo, he got a good heart, right he
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know he mean, well, I'm gonna be just totally
- 31:43Speaker 1: one thousand percent honest. I feel like he just need
- 31:48Speaker 1: you know, some better, some better guys in his circle.
- 31:52Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, I saw somebody say like, Yo, man,
- 31:55Speaker 1: like some better dudes. Sometimes you gotta gotta listen and
- 31:58Speaker 1: respect them dudes. And you know what, it's all that
- 32:00Speaker 1: they telling you signing because they love you, doing this
- 32:03Speaker 1: because they love you, you know what I'm saying. But
- 32:05Speaker 1: I just hate to see like the all the jokes
- 32:07Speaker 1: and the you know what I mean, the social media
- 32:09Speaker 1: ridicule man or my brother man, because like, you know
- 32:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying. He going through some things, man, you
- 32:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, and we all go through it
- 32:17Speaker 1: in life. And of course I'm not, you know, trying
- 32:20Speaker 1: to condone or make no excuses and ship for him.
- 32:23Speaker 1: But I love that man, and I'm you know what
- 32:25Speaker 1: I mean. It's like when I got love for people,
- 32:28Speaker 1: even if I don't know you or whatever, like I
- 32:30Speaker 1: just love everybody. I got more love in my heart
- 32:33Speaker 1: and didn't hate. So like I'm not here to tear
- 32:36Speaker 1: and tear a nigga down and tell him what he
- 32:38Speaker 1: can't do or you crazy, you tripping like when he
- 32:41Speaker 1: now I was, I was, you know what I'm saying
- 32:43Speaker 1: on the wrench when he you know, he called me
- 32:47Speaker 1: and Siha was in the studio. He's like, yo, I
- 32:49Speaker 1: just check the Twitter. I'm just running for president. You
- 32:52Speaker 1: were in Wyoming right when I got that. But then
- 32:55Speaker 1: I start seeing like Twitter, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you know, just the ridicule and all that making fun
- 33:03Speaker 1: of that man, and I just look at it like
- 33:04Speaker 1: that's our problem man in the community, Like we we
- 33:08Speaker 1: too quick to tear tear somebody down. Then it kind
- 33:11Speaker 1: of build them up. I don't give a fuck niggas say, man,
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm mother, man, build me a house on the moon.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I'll be like, I know that shit gonna be flying.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Bro Hell yeah, do that shit. I'm just one of
- 33:20Speaker 1: them type of niggas. I ain't negative, like tearing nobody down. Ye,
- 33:24Speaker 1: how did that initial like connection happen? Because I do like, look,
- 33:27Speaker 1: Kanye keeps you know, he got pushed around, and we
- 33:29Speaker 1: got sit high around, and we got some of the
- 33:30Speaker 1: greatest lyricists of all time around him. But like you specifically,
- 33:34Speaker 1: how did that relationship start. Did he reach out his
- 33:36Speaker 1: people reach out it was I really don't know if
- 33:40Speaker 1: it was like he reached out or whatever. But I
- 33:45Speaker 1: just remember this was that Sunday after our show at
- 33:49Speaker 1: the novel last show with a tour, which was right
- 33:53Speaker 1: before everything shut down, right before that's really my show
- 33:56Speaker 1: was March seventh, yep, March eighth. We went to Sunday
- 34:00Speaker 1: service that morning. I remember that, Yeah, I remember, and
- 34:05Speaker 1: he seen us in the crowd, look like, oh, you
- 34:08Speaker 1: know what I mean. So after this joint, you know
- 34:10Speaker 1: what I mean, he bring us in the back of
- 34:12Speaker 1: the ship or whatever, and we just sitting there and
- 34:15Speaker 1: Kanye he's a real sporadic like you know, you know
- 34:19Speaker 1: dude like that. Like he was just like, you know what, man,
- 34:21Speaker 1: we need to go to Cobbo and just record all
- 34:23Speaker 1: this energy right now. I looked in the crowd. I
- 34:25Speaker 1: sent y'all there, you know what I mean, like we
- 34:27Speaker 1: just need to all just get on the jet just
- 34:29Speaker 1: go to Cabbo, you know what I mean. Mean and
- 34:31Speaker 1: Benny looking at each other like ship nigga. We we
- 34:35Speaker 1: got warrants, you know what I mean. So we ended
- 34:40Speaker 1: up going We literally ended up going to Wyoming the
- 34:43Speaker 1: next morning. So the next morning, so tour ends, sore ends,
- 34:47Speaker 1: next morning, we go to Sunday service. Next morning we
- 34:51Speaker 1: flying to Wyoming. Wow, you Benny gun was gunn out there. Yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 1: he came like because I remember he had like a
- 35:02Speaker 1: meeting with with with guys. Some other hadn't met us
- 35:05Speaker 1: out there, but me and Benny was already out there, y'all.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So let me ask you this, like y'all over some
- 35:11Speaker 1: First of all, obviously you're helping him with with with
- 35:15Speaker 1: with creating records, but is there gonna be any sort
- 35:18Speaker 1: of I don't know if it's is there is there
- 35:21Speaker 1: any Kanye records where you or Benny are on the
- 35:24Speaker 1: record with him that exists, not saying they're ever gonna
- 35:28Speaker 1: come out. I mean you went to Wyoming. I don't know.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna get a phone call soon, man, but I'm
- 35:41Speaker 1: gonna keep it a hunted. There's one that's that's a record.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Benny's not on it, but I was in the room.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I'm with the nigga. You show me and he like,
- 35:53Speaker 1: y'all like, I want to just keep your verse on
- 35:57Speaker 1: there and west to one and then I do the
- 36:01Speaker 1: third verse type. Shit. Yo, it's wild because like, you know, shit,
- 36:06Speaker 1: that Wyoming thing is real, Like you know, Push came
- 36:09Speaker 1: out of the other side of Wyoming with Daytona. Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Was there something about being in the middle of nowhere
- 36:15Speaker 1: like that that was inspiring your creative process because you
- 36:18Speaker 1: know that shit is in the middle of nowhere like
- 36:21Speaker 1: Jackson Hole or wherever it is, man, because it's so
- 36:23Speaker 1: peace and tranquil, right, so peaceful and tranquil man that
- 36:27Speaker 1: you just ain't got no time to do nothing, but
- 36:31Speaker 1: kind of your mind has kind of opened up, you
- 36:34Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So, yeah, man, it's inspiring, especially
- 36:39Speaker 1: just to being you know, you know, Initially, it's just
- 36:41Speaker 1: you got to get over the nerves of like, you know,
- 36:44Speaker 1: it's Kanye right, Like you know what I'm saying, Like
- 36:47Speaker 1: we in the same you know what I mean, Like
- 36:49Speaker 1: you Kanye West, I mean, were sitting there like that.
- 36:53Speaker 1: So you know, I still look at it like I'm
- 36:55Speaker 1: an upcoming nigga in the game. So there's moments like that,
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'll be on my leg. Oh man, you've had a
- 37:00Speaker 1: few of those. First day, it was kind of like
- 37:03Speaker 1: I was kind of like I had a bad game
- 37:05Speaker 1: if we talking sports terms, Okay, But the next day
- 37:09Speaker 1: I did like maybe like two or three songs. And
- 37:13Speaker 1: the next day, the more comfortable I got, the more
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because it's like it's different
- 37:19Speaker 1: atmosphere than the type of studio atmosphere used to. You
- 37:22Speaker 1: know what I'm like, There's no cussing, ain't nobody costing,
- 37:25Speaker 1: ain't no smoking, no drinking or none of that. It's
- 37:28Speaker 1: world just it's good energy though, it's great energy. Like
- 37:31Speaker 1: were you on your Jesus ship when you was rapping? Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 1: so he took you to a different place because I'm like, yo,
- 37:37Speaker 1: you you on that you talk that talk. You know
- 37:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Nah, Nah, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I kind of just I found a way to kind
- 37:45Speaker 1: of just make it like to where I was just
- 37:47Speaker 1: thankful for even having a second chance at life and
- 37:50Speaker 1: be in this position because you know, Hick, like I said,
- 37:53Speaker 1: could have when left, I could have died when I
- 37:55Speaker 1: got shot. So I just you know, talked about those
- 38:00Speaker 1: times were like, you know, I feel like God was
- 38:04Speaker 1: there for me. I mean, you guys have had am
- 38:08Speaker 1: with obviously you guys do the shady situation. Yeah, hove, now, yay,
- 38:14Speaker 1: I'll be damned if the Buffalo Boys ain't he ain't
- 38:17Speaker 1: on or something. Right. This shit is crazy when you
- 38:24Speaker 1: let me let me ask you something. Because my son
- 38:27Speaker 1: is My son is h He's fourteen, and he's got
- 38:31Speaker 1: the weirdest taste in hip hop, like he loves like
- 38:33Speaker 1: the young ignorant shit. But Eminem is his favorite rapper.
- 38:37Speaker 1: That's crazy my son too, right, Yeah, And and I
- 38:43Speaker 1: was like, you know, my kid listens to anything I
- 38:45Speaker 1: play in the car and I played the you know,
- 38:49Speaker 1: I maybe seven eight months ago, was had the Bang
- 38:51Speaker 1: remix on, right, and obviously Eminem hopping on one of
- 38:58Speaker 1: your joints, even though being signed to him is a
- 39:01Speaker 1: big deal. What is like your approach as an MC
- 39:08Speaker 1: if you know now and I don't even know if
- 39:11Speaker 1: you've recorded a song knowing necessarily when you recorded it
- 39:14Speaker 1: that and was gonna end up on it, but like
- 39:17Speaker 1: when you know someone like that, it's gonna be on
- 39:20Speaker 1: the record. Now, you've been on records with Buster, I mean,
- 39:22Speaker 1: you've been on records with the Who's who? This shit
- 39:25Speaker 1: so my like and sometimes you record a record I'm
- 39:28Speaker 1: sure and later on be like, you know what, let's
- 39:30Speaker 1: try to get this person on it. But when you're
- 39:31Speaker 1: approaching a record where you know there's and mind you,
- 39:34Speaker 1: your squad is all killers, but like one of them
- 39:37Speaker 1: legendary Mount Rushmore names, do you approach like it's almost
- 39:43Speaker 1: like I feel like it's almost like we're talking basketball,
- 39:45Speaker 1: like being clutch in the fourth quarter, you know what
- 39:47Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like the pressure is on, Like it's absolutely man. Oh,
- 39:53Speaker 1: I mean I handle it pretty well. I just look
- 39:55Speaker 1: at it like shit, there can't be no worse than
- 39:59Speaker 1: being in a getting on ship with Benny and West
- 40:02Speaker 1: Facts and I got with them too. I gotta make
- 40:06Speaker 1: sure I'm on my I can't let off the gas pedal,
- 40:09Speaker 1: so like I look at it like that, you know
- 40:11Speaker 1: what I mean. I'm just like a I'm an animal man,
- 40:14Speaker 1: I got animal instinct. Man, I'm trying to I can't
- 40:17Speaker 1: buy no shape or form be the nigga that I got.
- 40:20Speaker 1: The Whackers verse on the song, like, I don't care
- 40:22Speaker 1: who I'm on a song with. I gotta if they
- 40:26Speaker 1: ain't saying Conway killed it the hardest. I feel like
- 40:29Speaker 1: you failed. That was a verse for me. Speaking of verses,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I saw you the other day. Complex put out the
- 40:35Speaker 1: Best Verses of the Year list, right, and I watched
- 40:40Speaker 1: the Fire in the Booth freestyle once a week at least.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That ship, to me is the best verse of the year. Now,
- 40:46Speaker 1: mind you, it is on a freestyle, but god damn, Like,
- 40:52Speaker 1: do you still feel like you like because I mean
- 40:54Speaker 1: like like you had a reason to complain, because I
- 40:56Speaker 1: feel like you know you are else complaining. Yeah, But
- 41:02Speaker 1: do you feel like you're still slept on sometimes? Yeah?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Which is crazy to think. Yeah, And it just you know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: I just I understand, man. It just comes from you
- 41:11Speaker 1: know where we're from. You know what I'm saying. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: just feel like if we was from like one of
- 41:16Speaker 1: the Burroughs or something, or a big name city, like
- 41:20Speaker 1: we would get a little more like love from you know,
- 41:23Speaker 1: our peers and you know some of the gatekeepers before
- 41:27Speaker 1: us and shit like that. You know what I'm saying,
- 41:29Speaker 1: But it really ain't fair to say because so that's
- 41:32Speaker 1: why I don't really say that shit too much no more,
- 41:34Speaker 1: because like, man, you do the work, you get, you
- 41:38Speaker 1: get noticed. Man to work, gonna speak for yourself. So
- 41:40Speaker 1: I don't want to look like I'm just like on
- 41:43Speaker 1: like like I'm like I'm Brady or something like, man,
- 41:46Speaker 1: ain't talking about me, you know what I mean. But
- 41:49Speaker 1: like I'm just I'm just I'm so confident in my
- 41:52Speaker 1: in my craft dog that I know, ain't nobody show
- 41:54Speaker 1: me listen. It's like when Nigga, like when I see
- 41:57Speaker 1: like the list, which I agree like a lot a
- 42:00Speaker 1: lot of those verses on that agree with I definitely
- 42:03Speaker 1: agree with, but like there's no way, you know what
- 42:06Speaker 1: I'm saying. Some of the verses, I don't put out
- 42:09Speaker 1: this year alone. You know what I'm saying. I don't
- 42:11Speaker 1: put out probably the most output of music this year alone.
- 42:16Speaker 1: You can't tell me not one of my ships was
- 42:19Speaker 1: a top verse of the year. But if you know
- 42:23Speaker 1: it is what it is, everybody got there on a pane?
- 42:25Speaker 1: Or is that firing the break? Is that firing? The
- 42:27Speaker 1: booth verse gonna end up on an actual song because
- 42:29Speaker 1: I hate that I have to put it up on
- 42:31Speaker 1: YouTube every time a piece of it dead. Okay, so
- 42:34Speaker 1: it did ended up on on on flea album album
- 42:41Speaker 1: almost Fleet put out this year. It was on there.
- 42:45Speaker 1: But yeah, but like that verse, I feel like the
- 42:48Speaker 1: second verse of the front Lines joint, it was crazy,
- 42:53Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like the way I just
- 42:55Speaker 1: addressed the whole climate right now with the social ingest. Yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 1: I told you that last night. I told you that
- 43:01Speaker 1: last night, that Jim Jones record, that Jim Jones versus too, Like,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But you know, people can't.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I can't judge with them here or that's true. So
- 43:13Speaker 1: let me ask you this when when with the emergence
- 43:18Speaker 1: of Benny right over the last two years, Benny went
- 43:21Speaker 1: from being like, you know, like y'all homie who would
- 43:26Speaker 1: come along and rap kind of like what like rick
- 43:28Speaker 1: rick Ricky Hyde is now no, that's her cousin right
- 43:31Speaker 1: shout out to Rick, and now he's emerging as like
- 43:35Speaker 1: a star in his own right. Does that like, like
- 43:41Speaker 1: I wonder between all three of y'all, man, because Gun
- 43:46Speaker 1: put out Pray for Paris, which is a classic. You know,
- 43:50Speaker 1: you guys have all had your share of timeless music.
- 43:55Speaker 1: How is the competition within the crew? Like, is it like, yo, fam,
- 43:59Speaker 1: I you know, I got you on that ship. Yeah, honestly,
- 44:03Speaker 1: Tito's back, I got y'all on that ship. Yeah honestly,
- 44:08Speaker 1: it really ain't. No, like like we're not competing like
- 44:15Speaker 1: we ain't. It's not on the outside. I'm sure devenside
- 44:19Speaker 1: niggas like I'm about to kill I gotta kill Bennie
- 44:21Speaker 1: on this right right my body. I know con we're
- 44:24Speaker 1: gonna come. I'm about to kill this nigga. I'm sure
- 44:27Speaker 1: inside it's a competitive you know what I mean? Fun competition, fun, yeah, no,
- 44:33Speaker 1: friendly all that. Yeah, of course, family, we really champion
- 44:38Speaker 1: each other and just like we just like salute like yeah, no,
- 44:41Speaker 1: that shit is crazy, you know what I mean. I
- 44:42Speaker 1: think that's what's unique about y'all is like even if
- 44:45Speaker 1: you I mean, you know, like I remember the first
- 44:47Speaker 1: time I watched the show documentary when I was a
- 44:49Speaker 1: kid and I saw that Wu Tang didn't get along
- 44:52Speaker 1: like Method Man and you guys were fighting on the documentary,
- 44:54Speaker 1: and I was like, wait what I fore like we
- 44:57Speaker 1: old was a little more praise for being able to
- 44:59Speaker 1: put when I watch that ship like niggas shooting at
- 45:02Speaker 1: each other in our carp and ship like Residue was
- 45:04Speaker 1: able to move. For dude, all that give us an
- 45:09Speaker 1: ill him. We alls a huge debt of gratitude. That's facts.
- 45:16Speaker 1: But I feel like that's unique about y'all. It's like,
- 45:19Speaker 1: no matter what we know, when when we look at
- 45:22Speaker 1: that at whoever's album it is, there's gonna be at
- 45:25Speaker 1: least that one that's got all three y'all on it.
- 45:28Speaker 1: And you know the ship you played me last night,
- 45:33Speaker 1: which which ailme is the Spurs record on three is
- 45:36Speaker 1: from King to a God. Yeah that ship is crazy.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. Now that's one of the ones
- 45:42Speaker 1: where it's just like I said, like when we all together,
- 45:45Speaker 1: it's like, you know what I'm saying, Lebron Wade and
- 45:48Speaker 1: Bosh some ship like that we just and that that
- 45:53Speaker 1: that friendly competition that's burning in the inside all of
- 45:56Speaker 1: us want to be able to have the flyest ship
- 45:59Speaker 1: on the joint. I think that's what makes when we
- 46:02Speaker 1: do it all together, make it best, even with Darringer
- 46:06Speaker 1: because Darner and the competition too, like deep down the side,
- 46:10Speaker 1: like I can't have a wacky ship on the album.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I gotta come with it, come with some Craig and
- 46:16Speaker 1: all three of them morning, I gotta kill you know
- 46:18Speaker 1: what I mean? Ship like that? But like I said, man,
- 46:22Speaker 1: I think that's you know, we just all like niggas
- 46:27Speaker 1: being family player huge role too. We just love love
- 46:30Speaker 1: everything that we do and push each other, like when
- 46:33Speaker 1: it was Benny turned like you said, last two years
- 46:35Speaker 1: like me and you know me and bro like Noah,
- 46:38Speaker 1: go ahead, Benny, Like if you look at all our
- 46:40Speaker 1: freestyles and shit like that, I'll be like, yo, Benny,
- 46:42Speaker 1: let me here, man, me give what you got, Benny,
- 46:46Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And ship like that like
- 46:47Speaker 1: it was Benny Turner like let's go Benny. Y y'all
- 46:51Speaker 1: y'all heard up, like y ain't heard nothing yet, Benny
- 46:53Speaker 1: get him type shit. So we do it. We do
- 46:57Speaker 1: it like that. Man, I ain't I could. I ain't know.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I ain't no sucker like that, Like I want to
- 47:02Speaker 1: everyone win Win Eat. The result of album was crazy. Obviously,
- 47:08Speaker 1: that was like such a big deal because you guys,
- 47:10Speaker 1: I mean technically, I feel like you guys are on
- 47:12Speaker 1: Shady for so long, but that was the official first release.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I think you guys got to have one of the
- 47:18Speaker 1: illess deals in hip hop because you guys are getting
- 47:21Speaker 1: your indie shit off all day, but then when it's time, okay,
- 47:24Speaker 1: you know you could do both, which I cannot imagine
- 47:28Speaker 1: a lot of people have that kind of freedom to
- 47:30Speaker 1: run up their indie catalog all the meanwhile being signed
- 47:33Speaker 1: to you know, Eminem. Yeah, Paul, I feel like Paul was.
- 47:38Speaker 1: You know, it's generous when it come to that. You
- 47:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like I ain't trying to get
- 47:44Speaker 1: in y'all way or nothing, you know what I'm saying.
- 47:46Speaker 1: We just want to be a part of what y'all
- 47:47Speaker 1: got going on, right, But I just felt like, you know,
- 47:51Speaker 1: they Shady couldn't be really a part of none of
- 47:55Speaker 1: that shit because you know, the samples and all that shit,
- 47:59Speaker 1: Like our sound is based off like if you was,
- 48:02Speaker 1: if you're a Day one Griselda fan, you know that
- 48:05Speaker 1: our sound is based off like Dander doing immaculate sampling
- 48:09Speaker 1: and ship like that, Like our beats it is so
- 48:12Speaker 1: dark and dusty and that incredible. Yeah, you know what
- 48:15Speaker 1: I'm saying. That's how we was able to change kind
- 48:17Speaker 1: of change the game and shift the culture back to
- 48:19Speaker 1: like you hear a lot of where it is getting
- 48:22Speaker 1: alchemist beats and fucking you know what I mean, like
- 48:25Speaker 1: that dam just sounding beats because we kind of shifted
- 48:29Speaker 1: that shitn't but that ship we was doing. We couldn't
- 48:33Speaker 1: paul them one ship trying to get all them samples cleared.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Fucking with that ship. But I think about the whole
- 48:40Speaker 1: Y'll up with your shady debut. Whenever it comes out,
- 48:44Speaker 1: is it gonna be mostly sample free? I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 48:48Speaker 1: it's about It's probably about eighty five percent sample free,
- 48:54Speaker 1: like a lot of them beats you ship you heard,
- 48:56Speaker 1: I ain't had no samples. I heard the record that
- 48:59Speaker 1: you You played the record that Wayne was on. Mm hmm.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Now you got Wayne to like Wayne was you know,
- 49:11Speaker 1: way knew what it was when he got on the record.
- 49:13Speaker 1: I'll just say that shout out to Wayne. Was that
- 49:15Speaker 1: a record like we just talked about, Was that like
- 49:17Speaker 1: one of those records where you knew Wayne was getting
- 49:19Speaker 1: on it when you cut it. Actually, no, no, I
- 49:23Speaker 1: had already. I had already made that joint. I had
- 49:27Speaker 1: already recorded, but I didn't finish it. It was just
- 49:29Speaker 1: like the verse was on my verse and I had
- 49:38Speaker 1: I think, Yo, Wayne has sent me to the Russian
- 49:41Speaker 1: Roulette joint. Well his album Me and Benny know, Me
- 49:43Speaker 1: and Bennie on his album Russian Roulette ship and sent
- 49:48Speaker 1: that ship back and whatever, and you know in the podcast.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Then we did the podcast his you know radio shit,
- 49:55Speaker 1: and you know what I mean. He he was like, man, y'all, man,
- 49:58Speaker 1: I appreciate saw man. Y'all never need me for anything.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Send it through. Y'all got signed to send it through.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I said, oh yeah, don't tell me that. Yeah, send
- 50:08Speaker 1: you something. I'll send it right now. And I sent
- 50:11Speaker 1: it through. You know, shout out my nigga Mac Maine, Man,
- 50:14Speaker 1: my nigga Mac Main. Good dude, man, that shit happened. Man,
- 50:17Speaker 1: that's my dog right there. And shout out to Wayne Man.
- 50:20Speaker 1: That niggas incredible. We did most shit too. I got
- 50:22Speaker 1: in the studio with them niggas on Miami and we
- 50:25Speaker 1: did some more. There's some other ship on a hard
- 50:27Speaker 1: drive somewhere. Man, Wayne got something crazy. That's a fact.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Talk about your relationship with KD. Man, KD, I feel
- 50:35Speaker 1: like has always had such an amazing taste in hip hop.
- 50:39Speaker 1: That's the first thing I told him. Actually, I tapped
- 50:42Speaker 1: him up because I went over to his house with
- 50:44Speaker 1: Fred and I was like, hey, man, all bullshit aside,
- 50:46Speaker 1: Like I've always respected your because I'm a basketball guy,
- 50:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I got my own
- 50:50Speaker 1: opinions about the sports ship, you know what I'm saying.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I was like, I've always respected your you know, your
- 50:56Speaker 1: taste in hip hop. It's always the real ship, you do. Like,
- 50:59Speaker 1: But talk about how y'all linked up and was it
- 51:02Speaker 1: just from him being a fan of w of what
- 51:04Speaker 1: y'all do, or like, how did that relationship happen? Yeah?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Just I I you know it started out. I guess
- 51:09Speaker 1: he you know, he was he he fucked with the music.
- 51:12Speaker 1: But you know, my my guy, my big brother set Free,
- 51:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. He he kind of like
- 51:18Speaker 1: bridged that gap, you know what I'm saying. He he
- 51:21Speaker 1: brought KD to one of my shows in New York,
- 51:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And then from there it
- 51:26Speaker 1: was just you know, we we was kind of like
- 51:29Speaker 1: like hung out the whole night, Like we went from
- 51:31Speaker 1: the show, went straight to the studio and I'm playing
- 51:34Speaker 1: them songs and from there it's just like it was
- 51:37Speaker 1: a genuine like you know what I mean, Like we know,
- 51:41Speaker 1: Nigga pick up on the first second ring for me
- 51:43Speaker 1: when I called, you know, I was just at his
- 51:45Speaker 1: house the other day, right yesterday, matter of fact, Oh yeah,
- 51:48Speaker 1: his house and and and you know what I'm saying.
- 51:51Speaker 1: But he's a he he definitely a fan of the
- 51:52Speaker 1: Griselda shit. Like even before like set Free introduced me,
- 51:57Speaker 1: I seen him like post like shit, like you know,
- 52:01Speaker 1: him listening and like everybody is full a black tape
- 52:04Speaker 1: or side like that, you know what I mean. And
- 52:06Speaker 1: you know what I man, But you know, I like
- 52:09Speaker 1: the thing set Free for you know, making that you know,
- 52:12Speaker 1: bridging that gap man and shout out the KD. Man,
- 52:16Speaker 1: that's that's that's my dog yo. Thus far in your career, man,
- 52:19Speaker 1: what has been You've had a lot of these moments,
- 52:23Speaker 1: But what has been the one surreal moment where you
- 52:25Speaker 1: like really like you you felt like yeah, I'm like
- 52:29Speaker 1: I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, Like this ship
- 52:31Speaker 1: is really like this is where I'm at. I'm at
- 52:34Speaker 1: exactly where I'm supposed to be at. Like everything I
- 52:36Speaker 1: did in my life like led up to this ship
- 52:38Speaker 1: because I feel like a lot you know, on the
- 52:40Speaker 1: way up. We have those moments. Yeah, yeah, man, I
- 52:42Speaker 1: would probably say that, you know Whole backstage, you know
- 52:52Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah, that was that hit me different,
- 52:57Speaker 1: that just sat with me different. You know I'm saying
- 53:00Speaker 1: like Whole didn't have to do that, Like Whole, I
- 53:03Speaker 1: just viverly remember like Hole made it his business, like
- 53:06Speaker 1: this is jay Z. Yeah this nigga. Lakers had a
- 53:10Speaker 1: game and right across the lay mind you, and then
- 53:13Speaker 1: I was just so impressed by like I think the
- 53:16Speaker 1: Lakers beat the Bucks that night. It was like his bucks.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I bet on that game. It was Lakers Bucks. I
- 53:22Speaker 1: bet on the game. But it's just him and Emery.
- 53:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, damn, you are here,
- 53:28Speaker 1: you had a you know, our type of hip hop
- 53:31Speaker 1: is defferently the crowds. It's different, like you Dolo, it's
- 53:35Speaker 1: essentially you know what I'm saying, You and Emery. You
- 53:38Speaker 1: know what I'm saying like I was just gone by
- 53:40Speaker 1: that and then that he just made his way Like
- 53:42Speaker 1: when I got off stage and I'm broken down, I'm
- 53:44Speaker 1: crying and you know what I'm saying, and fleet arms
- 53:47Speaker 1: and all that ship and that nigga like like he
- 53:49Speaker 1: walks over, tell me like he came personally to like
- 53:52Speaker 1: grab me, like me, like yo, bro, like you know
- 53:55Speaker 1: what I mean and do that. That was a huge
- 53:57Speaker 1: moment for me. But and up until getting nominated for
- 54:01Speaker 1: that BET Best Group or right there, it was like
- 54:06Speaker 1: that was that moment you said, like you know this
- 54:07Speaker 1: where this is where I need to be. Yeah. No,
- 54:09Speaker 1: I remember reposting that like, man, y'all should have won
- 54:11Speaker 1: that though who wanted the Migos. They didn't even put
- 54:14Speaker 1: it out mount That's what I understand, you know, you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: shout out to the Migos, man offset to real one Bro,
- 54:21Speaker 1: shout out the city girls, shout out to everybody that
- 54:23Speaker 1: was nominated. Have you guys linked with the Migos at all?
- 54:26Speaker 1: Or I mean off set? I never linked with Migos.
- 54:29Speaker 1: I know off sets of real hip hop head I
- 54:31Speaker 1: linked with like you know, like P, Like shout out
- 54:35Speaker 1: to P. You know what I'm saying like him and
- 54:36Speaker 1: Coach K came to the Atlanta show. You know what
- 54:39Speaker 1: I'm saying. That night, Wow, you know what I'm saying.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I know why energy probably was a little little different.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I had just got ribbed like three hours earlier. Still
- 54:47Speaker 1: went like rock that bitch. You know what I'm saying.
- 54:50Speaker 1: But shout out to p You know what I'm saying.
- 54:53Speaker 1: We ended up going You know what I'm saying. We
- 54:54Speaker 1: linked with them before he put up to his studio
- 54:57Speaker 1: and went out with him and stuff to the club
- 54:59Speaker 1: and sh hung up, hung out with him and all
- 55:02Speaker 1: that after the after the show. No, this was before
- 55:05Speaker 1: we initially linked up at the Javonte Davis fight. You
- 55:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. That was crazy fighting Atlanta. Yo.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I feel like I hear about him beefing with rappers
- 55:14Speaker 1: more than I hear about him. He turned up on Twitter, boy,
- 55:19Speaker 1: have you what's your guys' relationship like with fifty Man
- 55:23Speaker 1: fifty that you know fifty was on the project, which
- 55:26Speaker 1: I thought was such an important moment. You know what
- 55:30Speaker 1: I'm saying. I can't lie like I don't. I don't
- 55:35Speaker 1: want to cap and make it saying like I know
- 55:36Speaker 1: fifty all like that. I don't got a fifty phone
- 55:39Speaker 1: number and ane of that ship, I don't whatever. But
- 55:41Speaker 1: any time I ever was around and fifty cent was around,
- 55:45Speaker 1: fifty cent definitely showed me love, like you know what
- 55:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, like like I'm around my shoulder type shit
- 55:51Speaker 1: without nigga laughing joking type shit, you know what I'm saying.
- 55:54Speaker 1: And I got mad love for I look up the
- 55:58Speaker 1: fifty low key just how he did it and did
- 56:02Speaker 1: it his way and how he just you know what
- 56:04Speaker 1: I mean, to take it to where he took it to.
- 56:06Speaker 1: I just I just funck with that and I salute that.
- 56:08Speaker 1: And it's crazy because the last time I seen fifty
- 56:13Speaker 1: was when he the unveiling of his Hollywood star I'm
- 56:18Speaker 1: and ship or whatever. Then like after his speaks and
- 56:21Speaker 1: the Dre was there, right, we go up the stairs
- 56:25Speaker 1: like to like the hotel, like on the rooftop of
- 56:28Speaker 1: w with some ship to just like through some more
- 56:30Speaker 1: like photos and ship or whatever, and and me and
- 56:33Speaker 1: Western standing there. Obviously we're the only dudes with like
- 56:36Speaker 1: hoodies and shit, you know what I mean. But after
- 56:39Speaker 1: he like he taking pictures with like doctor Dre, and
- 56:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean top Dog marshaling them and
- 56:45Speaker 1: then like before they it was all over, But that
- 56:47Speaker 1: nigga made sure he like looked dead at me, like, yo,
- 56:50Speaker 1: come here, nah, yeah, you the niggas come over here
- 56:53Speaker 1: and to prepare with us, you know what I mean?
- 56:55Speaker 1: Like that, Like I forever salute that nigga. I feel
- 56:58Speaker 1: like y'all are the hard movement group wise energy wise
- 57:05Speaker 1: since G UNIT, right because it was you know, I mean,
- 57:09Speaker 1: I think, you know, Migo's one of the greatest rat
- 57:11Speaker 1: groups of all time. But I feel like energy wise,
- 57:13Speaker 1: their energy doesn't necessarily match the energy I felt like
- 57:16Speaker 1: with G UNIT. Like I felt like with G Units,
- 57:18Speaker 1: so much came with that, you know, the way people
- 57:21Speaker 1: dressed and there was just so much that came with that,
- 57:24Speaker 1: that energy. And I feel like you guys definitely are
- 57:28Speaker 1: the first groups or crew whatever you want to call
- 57:32Speaker 1: it click since G UNIT. That's given me that like
- 57:34Speaker 1: same exact vibe and with that like there's you guys
- 57:40Speaker 1: are from Buffalo. But I think that you guys, I mean,
- 57:45Speaker 1: all three of y'all sharing the king of New York
- 57:47Speaker 1: as a state, maybe not New York City, but you know,
- 57:51Speaker 1: I've been seeing a lot of you know, bullshit, people
- 57:54Speaker 1: claiming king of New York and I'm like, yo, listen, man,
- 57:58Speaker 1: y'all got it? Do you do you feel like yo? Y'
- 58:01Speaker 1: like like legitimately like take take yourself, like, but like
- 58:05Speaker 1: in New York, you got there's nobody who's fucking with y'all, bro,
- 58:10Speaker 1: new York City. That means whatever you want to call it. Yeah,
- 58:14Speaker 1: I mean I just look at it like that really
- 58:18Speaker 1: ain't my you know what I'm saying, My my my.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I want to just be the king of rap that's
- 58:23Speaker 1: rap game. Like, I want to be just when niggas
- 58:26Speaker 1: be like, you're not asked, and that's the otherest nigga
- 58:28Speaker 1: in the game right now. That's what I'm on. That's
- 58:30Speaker 1: what I'm after. So like that King of New York
- 58:32Speaker 1: shit and all that, I mean, I'm I still I'm
- 58:35Speaker 1: gonna say I'm the King of New York too, because
- 58:37Speaker 1: like shit, like pen wise, I do feel like, of course, like,
- 58:41Speaker 1: ain't nobody fucking with me? But I'm not going around
- 58:44Speaker 1: beating on my chests and trying to like you know,
- 58:48Speaker 1: like slight niggas to say nothing like that. Man. I
- 58:50Speaker 1: respect everybody, cry. I expect everybody as men, you know
- 58:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying, And shit, I wish everybody the best,
- 58:57Speaker 1: keeps striving, But I know, like how I carry myself
- 59:00Speaker 1: like I'm the king of New York, I'm the king
- 59:02Speaker 1: of the rap game. You know what I'm saying. I
- 59:05Speaker 1: truly believe that when when did you guys really decide?
- 59:10Speaker 1: And I don't know if this was Gun or if
- 59:12Speaker 1: this was a group, but I feel like you guys
- 59:14Speaker 1: moved in unit set, like with just the aesthetics. It's
- 59:21Speaker 1: the artwork, it's the merch everything. It's it's it's fly,
- 59:27Speaker 1: it's you know, it's the painting. Shit, it's it's dark.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Like what like, was is that a group collective? Or
- 59:35Speaker 1: is that something? Because I know that it was Gun's
- 59:37Speaker 1: idea to put the lady on the Griselda cover, right,
- 59:39Speaker 1: the Lady from Buffalo, But like it was designed a
- 59:44Speaker 1: lot of the cover, a lot of the covers coming
- 59:45Speaker 1: up like earlier, like in our career, it would design
- 59:49Speaker 1: a lot of the covers and shit like that. But
- 59:51Speaker 1: it's just you know what I mean, Like we're just
- 59:54Speaker 1: students of the game, and we had the benefits of
- 59:56Speaker 1: just being older and being able to be around so
- 59:59Speaker 1: many different eras of hip hop, or when we be
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: able to watch and learn, like we've seen everybody, the
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: best of the best come and do it, come and go,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, and do it how they
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: did it. So we was able to just you know,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: take notes, take notes and just apply it. But you
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, we're just different, man. We we
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: acknowledge the fan. You know what I'm saying. The show well,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: So I like to think of like what type of
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: experience the fans will enjoy most from an artist if
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: it was me. You know what I'm saying. I want
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to be able to have a collector's edition Vinyl Luna
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: brad Bi it is this artist. I want to have
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: a cassette. They don't even make cassettes no more. But
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I got this cassette of a nigga dropped the twenty
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: twenty and signed it and it's gold and something like that.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I think that is what's
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: you know, the important and that's the collective thing. You
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: know what I'm say saying. As far as like the
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: cover iron and a lot of that ship like you
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. West definitely spiritheaded a lot of
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: our earlier covers, like it was just designed to cover
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: like you know what what we was on. Like I
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: was just like, bro, you I don't be in the
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: officers and doing that. I don't want to talk to
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: the motherfuckers. Bro, Like go ahead, get us the bag. Bro,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna just I'm being here in the studio. What
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: do you feel right now? Man? Obviously the world's in
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: the crazy ass place. Hey, y'all got that tour off
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: right in time for shure that we had part two,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Like I know, you guys had a whole other, a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: whole other run the cancer get you guys had to
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: cancel it. But like obviously with the coronavirus and uh,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: you know just where the world is man with with
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: you know, obviously the murder of George Floyd has changed
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: the world. And then now you know, with with the
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: election coming up, like like it's it's almost you said
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: something earlier like you kind of took a break from
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: the internet. It's almost like it's hard on, Like man,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: it's it's it's draining to open your phone now, bro, Yeah,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: turn the nose on, put your phone on, or so
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: much bullshit going on it's crazy motherfuckers in the White
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: House and all that shit. Yeah, they're bad here, man,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: it's police going crazy. It's like every time I open
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: my phone, it's like it's bad nose. It's like a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: snag some some bolls. Shit. Like That's why I don't
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: even be really having my phone on me all like that,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Like I don't want to talk to nobody, like because
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I know somebody calling me with their problem or the
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: down know that shit. Man, I got my own proble.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I'm trying to drink away in my pain. Feel me yoo, Yeah,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: we got more. I think we killed that bottle duce
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: last night. It got to be the seventeen thirty eight
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: last you've done with my own shit? Yo, Getting back
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to your you're drinking? You are you in the darker?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I knew you're in the dark right now, but what
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: is the preferred uh drink everything he said everything? I
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: really just I really just started back fucking with the
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: dark though I've been untransitioned over to that forty two.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: The forty two is that ship I fuck with that tequila? Man,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: that forty It's way smoother. Yeah, but what I really
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: ain't been drinking all like that I'm kind of been,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean, I ain't really I don't
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: drink all like that no more. What's the craziest drug
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: you've tried? Because I just did mushrooms for the first time,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: which was wild. Yeah, that ship was something else. Honestly,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: the craziest shit I tried. It was like some ship
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: called with its Oh the whips, Yeah, were one of
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: my white homeboys. This when I was living in Atlanta.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: It'd be a long time ago. This was a long
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: time ago. Guys tried to bring those back. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I was. I was a long time ago. I was
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: homeless in Atlanta and shit, and I met this white nigga.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: That's so weird. It would have been a white guy,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You know it's crazy, house says
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: and Ship you think that comes from the South. It
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: was like a white dude that allowed me to Man,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: you can crash here, bro, let you stay at his crib.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Take this whipping. Yeah here try this whipping. You ever
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: had this? You know what I'm saying. And I tried
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: that and it was only like thirtyn't even an't even
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: like I was gone before you knew it. And Ship
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: like and it was gone before I knew it. But
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: it was just crazy because it's like I didn't know
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: what the fuck that was, Like, you know what, what
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: about what's the shittiest job you ever had? Conaway? I
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: worked at McDonald's in Alabama. In Alabama, and like lou Verne, Alabama,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: it's like the country. It ain't even like no big cities,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: dirt rolls and ship. How long were you at McDonald's, bro,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I lasted about a good month one one man I
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: worked at I worked at McDonald's. I was fifteen. I
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: lasted one shift. Yeah it was over. I tried my yeah,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: fuck all that, yo. So you bounced around a lot
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: as far as like where you've lived obviously from Buffalo.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: But why were you in Alabama? Well, you know, we
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: have family down there. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: I was down there, me and West. He's living with
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: you know, Graham Dukes. You know what I'm saying. And
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: should I couldn't? You know, of course I can't be
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: no growing ass, you know what I mean, living with
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: somebody and not making get a job and holding it down.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: So we're just out in Alabama just to get away,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: like sometimes I just need to get away from the
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: streets for a little bit, that's fair. And I was
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: able to do that with West Side Gun like he
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: always will be. You know what I'm saying, think it bigger. Yeah,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: he just would always he you know, he had you know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: his mom's side of the family and ship. They made
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: sure that he ain't have to have to grow up
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: like you know, most most niggas in the hood, you
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So they really had ship going on,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: nice stuff and shit like that. So I would go,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean, when I go spend the
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: night at his houses when I would be able to
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: have some pizza or some playing PlayStations right right, right,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: right right right. You you and Gun are big wrestling guys,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: which has been a big I feel like you guys
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and smoke dizzer kind of a bottle it is, and
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: a brown bag in the truck, brown bag in the truck.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Ad I'm saying, like with the with the wrestling ship,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: like you know, I give it up to Dizze and
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I give it up to you guys to really kind
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: of uh and shout out to my got Rosenberg to
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: kind of make a wrestling cool again. In hip hop. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: you know about a decade ago, like you would really
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: be at a wrestling fan. It was like a it
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: was like a scarlet letter, like, Yo, you watched that Bullshita?
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: How are you how? Like? Because right now it's fucked
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: up because there's no crowd, Like WrestleMania was so crowd
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: it's hard to watch. Right I'm tapped out. See, I
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: ain't gonna lie like I love the wrestling ship and
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: all that, but I wasn't like no big, big wrestling
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: head ass nigga like West and doz Gun is ahead.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: You'll like, he'll like travel and go to the little
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: indie shows. Okay, okay, that's rather spend my money in
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: something else. That's fair. But you know what I'm saying again,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: that just goes with back into you know, knowing what
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: what a fan want, Like you got to cater to
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: the fans. Man. People love wrestling, Yeah, people love movies,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: people love ship like that, you know what I mean?
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Like kind of like with Wu Tang with the karate flicks.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Who don't love karate flicks? Especially back then like in
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: the ninth if he was listening to hip hop, you know,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: the age to really understand what niggas was doing in
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: ninety two, ninety three, ninety four. Then you grew up
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: in a Kung fu flick era and if you didn't
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: you listen to Wu Tang, and then you wouldn't found it.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, yeah, with the rest of
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: the shit, y'all do for sure, right? You know what
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. That's facts. We were talking last night. You
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: were talking about the eras that you've lived through, and
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: I think it's dope that, like you said, like, yo,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: look we're older, like we've lived some life, and it's
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: almost probably better that you guys are hitting your stride
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: now because maybe if you would have hit it when
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you were twenty two twenty three, shit might have got crazy.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. But like what the eras
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: of hip hop you lived through? You know, I think
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: you and I probably got similar taste in music. I'm curious,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: what are you like three or four albums of all time?
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Like if you had to, if you had the Lord forbid,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: do a bid, and you had one iPod with and
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: you can only put three or four projects on there,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: what are you What are you taking with you that
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: aren't your own or Griselle. Obviously we asking like my
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: favorite or your favorite thing is not the best because
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: it's two different conversations, right, That's why I'm a cla
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: your favorite hmm, that's crazy. That's different because always getting
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: too with Kanye people because I know his best album
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: is my beautiful dark Twist of Fantasy, but my favorite
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: album is like Registration. You know what I'm saying. So
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: it's not they're not the same. Your favorites. I would say, definitely, uh,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Doggy Style best West Coast hip hop album ever. I agree,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I've been screening one. I wouldn't be mad if somebody
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: said the chronic was. But either way, right, I think
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: doggy styles. I take Doggy Style. I like Doggy Style.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I would take Doggy Style. I would take helter skeltering Nocturnal, Okay,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I would take It's getting tricky because that dad press
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: let's get free. Yep, reasonable doubt for me. It was
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: written for me. It was written all right, you know.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: I respect that man. I will say, like, you know,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: the Purple tape and Iron Man, hey man, not to
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: have some wool. So it's like it's hard for me
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: to just take three or four. I'll be fucked up.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: You know what's funny that you said Healter Skelter because
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: you know, Sean Price was one of my favorite MC's
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: and uh and when he died, man, it just it
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: was it was it was tough because I was such
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I mean I used to buy his vinyl. Was like,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I love Sean Price, but I feel like you in particular,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: there's something about you the way you deliver rhymes that
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: kind of as a Sean Price fan, it kind of
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: hit me. Not saying that you're like sound like Price,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: but you feel me like like like the way you
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: just maybe it's just not giving a fuck my last
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: name Price. Man, this is Sean Price vibes. Man. I
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: mean I feel like Ruck is like probably taking I mean,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: it's either him or Black Thought, my opinion, the most
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: underrated mcs. You know what I'm saying. Like p was
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: so crazy, bro, Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: That was like I said, man, I would listen to that.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I know that album front to back. You know what
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I'm saying. I can wrap that ship word for word,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And there was some more
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: niggas that I just you know, I looked up to
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: and studied and and fucked with their craft and how
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: they did that ship like, I love it. I love
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I love that album. I love to help the Skelter.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Shout out to Bernardette and rest in peace, Sean Price,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Shout out to my nigga rock, my nigga rock Nests.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like you you mentioned it
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Ray Kwan earlier. What about Ghosts? You you have you
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: linked up with ghost at all as far as like
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: a like, like at least having a relationship with them.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Ghost is my one of my top five all time. Yeah,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: like I never I never linked with Ghosts, like you
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like like you said, like no relationship,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: ship or whatever, Like the way I like I pull
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: up to the studio where I've been out to eat
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: with Ray Korn. You know what I mean, Chill, we
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: did we party together. We don'e did shit together, you
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like Ghosts, I would always see him,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: like you know in the trailer we like on the
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: same bill out of like at festivals and stuff, like
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: when he was like Rowland Loud New York. We was
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: on the same bill. I'll go on the trailer out
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: because you know, they all know me. I'm fun. They
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: all shows love like. That's one thing I can say,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: man about the woo like And I love about them
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: niggas because a lot of time, like you know, the
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: artists that came before the niggas be kind of like
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: stingy with that, with that lot, they don't want to
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: let go you got it sometimes, like man, sometimes you
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: got to just embrace little you know what I mean,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: the young little homies that's coming up, man like, So
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I love the wool for that because they always like, man, yo,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: y'all boys killing that shit. Keep doing what y'all doing.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I love that shiit each and every one of the members.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, shout out to you know,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: you had a line on one of these songs where
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: he was like they say Darren Dremin, they remind Rizza.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: You remind me of somebody who in the face with
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: it was crazy. You know, have you got because you know,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: I feel like Rizza don't produce like that no more.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: But I feel like you know that's I don't know
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: you guys haven't worked with Rizzi yet, right, No, not yet.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I just feel like that. Don't say nothing, but we spoke,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So he's tapped in yeah
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: about you know, he wanted to you know, like, you know,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: we gotta do some ship, but we ain't do nothing yet.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I'm sure that's coming. I was just hoping that that
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: battle kind of sparked his interest in doing rap again
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: because he got so much other ship going on. Yeah,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I would love. That's like a bucket list ship for
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: me to be in the studio Rizi. You know what
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: I'm saying about it though the way, well from the
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: stories I heard, I don't know this want to, but
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: just the stories I heard, like I probably wouldn't even
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: be in the same room with the rim, Like I
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: probably just go there, lay my verse and then this
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: time I gotta live and then you hear it. We
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: it just don't even sound like what I did or
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: what I rapped on. I heard. That's how he do
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: so well, that's buckle list to work with the Rizord.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Kanye was one. I can check that onf eminem check
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: that off. So Benny said he's got some joints with Drake.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Yeah that that yeah, Yeah, like it is just like
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: we're talking about like I feel like, man, your bucket's
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: got to be getting shorter, at least the squads because
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: I worked with everybody, man, so it's like, who was
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: the who was your who was your first big feature?
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Rock Marciano? That that rock on my mind, one of
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: the most underrated whatever. We got Rock Marciana and popped
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: the bottle and on and we got the words back.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Did you have to pay for the rock Verse? Crazy? Crazy? Right? Hey, man,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: he's an incredible I just man like outside of that,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: like prior, its like that was just like Dick fans
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: like crazy blew my mind was Cool Gie Rap reached
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: out and one of it was on Cool g Raps.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I want to say it was his last album, one
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: of them maybe the last album. Did you guys send
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: the Verse in or did you guys meet up? We
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: sent it in. We sent it. That's got to be crazy.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: We did the ship. We recorded that ship in Texas,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: someone from the world. We're just down there for south
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: by Southwest, hustling and ship passing out CDs. That ship's
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: got to be over with the COVID ship. I don't
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: know how that's ever coming back. Yeah, No, it's wild, bro, Like,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I just don't see how. I just don't see how
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: that ship is possible. Move over sh crazy, it's crazy, man.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Well look you got two albums on the way, yeah,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: two of them. What is it like with m Let
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: me ask you, like the process of turning the album
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: into eminem does he give you a lot of feedback?
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Is it like have you like, like, do you kind
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: of know like the ship that he's looking for to
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: make the album or or do you guys for the
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: most part, he trusts you guys creatively. I really I
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: don't know if I can't answer that fully because I
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: never We hadn't handled in no projects. Yeah, well you
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: know what we're gonna do, right what I'm saying, And well,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: like I know that I've played God don't make mistakes
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: for him in Detroit. I went to his studio in
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Detroit and I played it for him and Paul, and
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: you know, he had nothing to say. Everything was like, Yo,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: this this ship is crazy. This this this, this ship
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: is crazy. So I never ever heard any like feedback
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: or like yo, nah, do this change that I think
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: you should wrap on this beat or do this? Like
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I never was so I feel like, you know, shit,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: he want us to just do what we do. You
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yeahmer, we were talking last night
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: and I heard the album and I was like, this
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: is perfect because I I remember when slaughter House dropped
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: on Shady and they tried to do the radio thing,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: and there was a record you played last night that
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: probably never come out, that was on some radio shit
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: that was fly as fuck. But I feel like you're you,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: like like we were saying, like shit, man, like you you.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I think you found a great place sonically where you
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: could do new ship and still stay true to yourself staates,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: true to your your core fan base and not necessarily
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: you know, a lot of cats be reaching for hits
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: and then it's like disappointing. You'll be like, dog, why
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: did you put this step right? Because that was reaching.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: They was reaching. You know. You gotta understand, like the
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: all the hits that came on that we considered hits,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: they just didn't go in there like Yo, I'm gonther
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: go man, I want to make a hit. You know
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: it's organic. You don't know gonna be ahead. That's how
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I look at like, you don't know what's gonna be it.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: You gotta just go in down and make music with
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: your heart and not what your thinking. You know, nobody
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: know you know what I'm saying. It'd be songs that
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I've done the tapes and when I let somebody hear
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: the song that I had in mind, like this, the
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: single that's gonna be the one when people hear this.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Motherfucker's fucked with a whole different a whole different record,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So you never know. You
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So you've been known to do
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: that obviously Alchemists collab project, Lulu. Is there anybody else
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: who you have interest in doing a collaboration project with
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: now that's either a producer or artist you know. Earlier
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: you and You were saying you and Gibbs kicked around
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: the idea, like who's somebody who you want to or
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: is there something that's actually in the works for somebody
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: that that like, because like I said, man, I really
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I'm at the space and all like I'm gonna be
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: this man, like I really don't I really don't give
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: a fuck about work with no niggas, Like I don't
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: really fuck with nobody man, And I don't really you
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I don't want nobody to fuck
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: with me. Just leave me alone. I don't care about
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: working to collab it because I don't tried being that
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: type of artist reaching out, Hey man, let's do a joint, man,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, take my number, man,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: call me, yeah, let's do it. Send it dude, and
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: then you know, I don't get it back or I
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: don't get a text back and shit like, I don't
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: play like that, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: gotta learn to just I've learned to just don't even
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: expect nothing out of these niggas because I've been gonna
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: put my hands on one of these motherfuckers on you
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: know what I mean. I don't like playing. Don't cap
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: to me, like, just keep it a hundred, just keep
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: it a buck. Yet, just keep it a buck, keep
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: on that lip service, but I would probably believe it
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: or not. I want to do a take with Stevie J.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Word yeah, okay, like legendary producers, people forgetting because he
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: be on the TV. Because Stevie J Is a legend, legend.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Go the mons as a nigga, all that all the
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: craziest ship you heard of early Big and the whole
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: nigga you think made that ship. I feel like it'd
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: be kind of crazy to hear you on some like
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Dame Grease Ship or I wanted I would love to
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: hear you in d m X do some ship. Man.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Absolutely ya. But on the flip side of what I
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: just said before that, like I'm really open to like
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, yo, you in DMX, I
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: don't object to work with no niggas, but like I'm
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: not doing the reach out no more. No, I get
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: that what I respect that. Man, anybody want to work
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: with me, Man, let's get it. Let's let's let's work.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I know me and dave E talked about doing the
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: tape that Craze get that done. Like I said earlier, Man,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: gives have spoken about that. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: But you know, right now, what about you? What about
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: I mean, obviously we have outa project, but what about
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: just you and Benny. We talked about that a lot
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: as supposed to. You know, we're gonna get that out song.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: We're gonna get that done. So I feel like it
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: gotta happen, man, you know what I'm saying. For the culture,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: for the culture, for the Griselda fans, you and Benny,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: even if it's a little six piece. Yeah yeah, yeah, No,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: that's gonna come. That's coming, that's gonna come. Well, look man,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: the one we do. Conway, appreciate your time, bro go
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: support uh man everything this God does. You got so
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: much music that comes out, like what like the Big
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Ghost Ship. I didn't even like to see you promote
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: that ship. I was like, it just popped up on
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: my Spotify feet. I was like, what is this ship? Yeah,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: you know, man, I'll be cooking. Man, you know, I'll
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: be cooking. Man, shout out the Big Ghost you know
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: what I mean. Salute for even even thinking of having
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: me on that, doing that with me. And that was
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: just a project he was doing, you know what I mean, Like, Yo,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I need a couple of
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: verses like let's get it man, Like I said, Man,
