- this is the #22 ranking self deprecating podcast on Apple!: I received a email from a podcast booster, I don't know what to call They're marketing people who specialize in having podcast owners use their services to boost the search engine optimization and stuff. And if you followed along with some of my previous bo blog posts, you've heard me talk often about living in an underemployed life, meaning I don't have money to pay somebody for this information. However, the little tidbit that they provided was it's in the help of. They shared the information, which I have since verified independently, that on Apple Podcasts, when you search for self-deprecating, my podcast, Ditz and Doz, is ranking at number twenty one. I'm really kind of surprised that my podcast would be that high ranking. I mean, I'm one person. I'm not I'm a media professional, but I'm not doing this as a job. I'm doing this as a passion project. Just blathering my opinions and views of things in life as I'm doing right now. Nonetheless, go check it out yourself. Go over to Apple Podcasts, put in the search word self-deprecating, and scroll down, and you can see my face, which is what I use to identify my podcast. And to those of you who are listening to this, who receive your podcasting via Apple Podcasts to my content, thank you. I mean, it could be that there are only twenty-two podcasts that rank when it comes to self-deprecating. That's all right. I'm not looking to monetize or to go viral or anything like that. As I say, I'm just shooting the breeze w in a informal way, if nothing else is a journal of what goes on in my life as a sixty-five year old woman here in the United States. Several months ago, another podcast marketer, I don't know what they're officially called, so if someone in the comments wants to tell me, please illuminate me. But at the time I was charting in Kazakhstan as A music podcast and ranking at one hundred and fifty five. I'm grateful that you're taking time to listen. As befuddling and as humorous as I think this information is, it's a confirmation that we live in a world where the content that I create locally, upload to the internet is being shared through whatever algorithms are in force, and it's putting it in front of your eyes and listening with your ears. I have the perspective of living and growing up at a time when There was no internet. Whatever you created was gonna be created and distributed quite local in its breach. Yes, you can go and manufacture recordings and distribute them through stores in that time, but ultimately a lot of creative musicians such as myself were unable to make and distribute the content in the way that we do now so easily. I'm generating two posts a day, one of which is a music track. And another is this podcast. It's astounding to me that the effort that I put in, which is a substantial part of my day, you know, four or five hours, maybe six, depending on what needs doing, to produce two episodes a day is reaping an exposure benefit that I hadn't really considered. And because of the fact that I talk about my day-to-day life and talk about it in terms of my spiritual views and my real life circumstances. Sometimes I speak with the expertise that I have with music rights, music publishing, record labels, music supervision, as it pertains to broadcast and other digital media. So I'm all over the place. You could probably define that every blog post that I create as somewhat self deprecating for the sake that I'm bearing myself digitally to you all, without concern of retribution for being open and honest and I apologize for the jump in my tone. I'm preventing Rita from dining on Deer Pooh. She has a penchant for it. Sometimes she likes to wear it as cologne behind her ear. And the full experience of what I do every day originates from my own website, Susanclair.com. I always keep links in the posts to the YouTube content, whether it be musical or podcast. And I also include a link to the Spotify podcast, thinking naively that those of you that are coming to the website reading my posts might click on the Spotify podcast. Grateful for those of you who are finding my podcast episodes are listening. I think because of the experience I've growing up in a totally analog life were producing music that others would be able to listen to was so filled with challenges. You needed money and needed do a lot of things just to get to the recording studio. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that the ease of which things can be created now is is a real gift. Especially since I don't focus on one genre. The genre of me. The genre of a soul in control. While it doesn't justify the behavior of the haters around me who choose to throw negative energy my way with the idea of disrupting me and pulling me off my path. It would seem that I'm on paths that I didn't even know existed in this podcasting world. So good luck to them to try and keep up with that. I mean I'm sharing the information, so I'm giving a leap. I've always approached my life with a h large dose of self deprecating humor. Because it is in some way the opportunity by looking at yourself and then flipping the situation so that you gain an instant perspective a hundred and eighty degrees from where you started. Doesn't include a complete vision of how others would see me, but I certainly have covered enough of looking at myself and will continue to do so, it's a very valuable thing to do, to appreciate more fully that for someone who has spent most of my life not fitting in, whether it be with family, friends, even in my own professions, I'm probably specialize in self deprecation. See, when you don't fit in and this is my experience, it's because other people are trying to put you in a category and are failing to do so. Because when I recognize that as happening, I'll switch my focus in my life. And I do that because it's self satisfying to have the flexibility, to have the wide area of interests and knowledge and appreciation that I can be successful in many different genres of life. It's it's certainly happened in a manner that by some would consider to be sort of haphazard. It's not something that I've planned to do at all. I've never had objection to labels unless they've been derogatory. If somebody saw me as X and I felt that I was Y, huh, it's okay with me. Just don't call me late for dinner. And I don't present myself as being self-deprecating all the time. But apparently in the context of Apple Podcasts, I do so frequently enough that I'm ranking just under the top twenty. Thank you for that. I don't ask for likes, I don't ask for subscriptions, I don't ask for donations or super thanks, I don't put ads on my site. This is just an experiment. And it would seem that it's starting to show some success with listeners. I'm not even interested at at gaining the rank of the first podcast on the chart under the self-deprecating category, but it is a confirmation that I'm seen and heard. As a creative person, I live for that. I appreciate the fact that that's happened. So thank you. I appreciate contribution of your energy me into that rank. Even if I am the bottom of the list. I made the list. How many times were if if you were an athletic person, which I was when I was in junior high and high school, how many times did you sign up and for a sport and you're in this whole room of people that also want to participate and there's a selection process and you have to wait to find out if you've made the team? Looking at that list outside the gym teacher's door of their office. Well, I'm grateful to be on that list, even if it's just today. And if you are interested in keeping a blog and journaling the mundane activities of your daily life and are holding back from doing so, go on. You have my support. It can be done. In my case, I'm not looking to pay bills off of it. Even though I'm not earning enough income, I probably should be, but nonetheless. If it ends up getting monetized by the fact that you all are paying attention to it, I'm very happy about that. We'll see. Till then, thank you for sharing your energy with me today. Thanks again.
