- 0:09Speaker 1: Destroy Winter Insurance did Detroit. I'm a checkup wanted at
- 0:15Speaker 1: your FISA.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy the Show. I'm Adam Todd
- 0:34Speaker 2: Brown and I'm Fizzas and we are your hosts this week. Fizzle,
- 0:40Speaker 2: welcome back. It's been a while since you have co
- 0:42Speaker 2: hosted an episode.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm happy to be back. I'm happy to be
- 0:46Speaker 1: uh virus free. I did get the flu at the
- 0:50Speaker 1: beginning of the last month. Oh wow, and I was
- 0:53Speaker 1: down for two weeks.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I thought I was getting something, but I think I
- 0:57Speaker 2: was just tired. Okay, so far, despite having to interact
- 1:01Speaker 2: with so many people who go so many different places,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I haven't been sick this season.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I feel like so many people have more than usual.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I am going to wu Han next week. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 2: it's really cheap to go there. Now.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you know, you've had good luck so far.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Maybe your streak will continue.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, flights dirt cheap. No, I'm definitely not. I don't
- 1:25Speaker 2: think he can even fly there right now.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah. They have like several I think regions quarantined.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all around China there are quarantines in place.
- 1:37Speaker 2: There are businesses that are shut down we did an
- 1:40Speaker 2: episode of Pretty Scary. By the time this goes up,
- 1:44Speaker 2: that will have been a couple weeks ago. That's a
- 1:47Speaker 2: little more informational based than what this is going to be.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But yeah, it's really causing a lot of goddamn panic
- 1:57Speaker 2: in China. Yeah, and it should be causing panic in China. China. Yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I don't know that people should be getting as panicked
- 2:06Speaker 2: or racist as they are in the United States.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And Canada, but right now that's standard standard response from America. Yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I mean, I think you know, what maybe has sort
- 2:17Speaker 1: of fanned the flames of the story is that this
- 2:20Speaker 1: has been a very aggressive flu season here in the
- 2:22Speaker 1: United States. And yeah, I think this year's flu vaccine
- 2:29Speaker 1: maybe they estimated the wrong virus like Type A would
- 2:34Speaker 1: be more prominent in the first half of the season,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and for whatever reason, the vaccine is not great this season.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the first year in a long time
- 2:44Speaker 2: that I didn't get a flu shot.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't get a flu shot. But this is
- 2:47Speaker 1: the first time I've gotten the flu in a long time.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So can you normally get them randomly, like, you.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Know, if I'm a pharmacist and they're like free flu
- 2:55Speaker 1: shot and if I have some time, I'll be like, yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: but this time I didn't, although I it wasn't well,
- 3:01Speaker 1: although you know what I feel like still getting exposed
- 3:03Speaker 1: to that would because my flu. I was very sick. Yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, I was like, I think the first three
- 3:10Speaker 1: days were just Yeah, first three days I couldn't really
- 3:14Speaker 1: move much or do anything. And then I felt you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I still felt sick for a week, and then the
- 3:19Speaker 1: week after that, I didn't feel ill, but I felt
- 3:22Speaker 1: a lot of fatigue. Yeah, so it's sort of like
- 3:25Speaker 1: I couldn't really push myself. That's a long time to
- 3:27Speaker 1: be sort of.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I've I've heard from a few different people that
- 3:31Speaker 2: it was especially rough this year. Yeah, so I'm glad
- 3:35Speaker 2: I haven't gotten it so far. Thank you for not
- 3:39Speaker 2: recording with me while you were sick.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I don't want to be a bioterrorist.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what you are if you show up to
- 3:46Speaker 2: work sick people.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I did once. I went to one show and then
- 3:49Speaker 1: immediately I was like, I can't do this, this is
- 3:51Speaker 1: not Yeah, and I cancelled every other show. But yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 1: that's but also like I didn't really I hadn't had
- 3:56Speaker 1: the flu in so long I didn't recognize it as
- 3:59Speaker 1: the flu like I thought. I thought I was hungover
- 4:01Speaker 1: and got it cold.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you know. So, yeah, that's that's how it'll
- 4:06Speaker 2: spread here. Open mics and la bar shows things.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But if anyone's worried about the coronavirus, like throughout all
- 4:15Speaker 1: the microphones.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Yeah, including these. Yeah, but it's so far, there's only
- 4:21Speaker 2: as we're recording this, I think eleven cases in the
- 4:24Speaker 2: United States. What is crazy is that pretty scary episode
- 4:29Speaker 2: that I just mentioned. We just recorded that on Monday,
- 4:33Speaker 2: and by the time we're recording this now, the number
- 4:37Speaker 2: of deaths has gone up by like three hundred I think.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And it was only three hundred and sixty is.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Our deaths from coronavirus?
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah, wasn't it.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I thought the depth count was around eighty.
- 4:49Speaker 2: No, that's the thing. It's going up exponentially every day.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Okay. And yeah, because the article is mentioned, I think
- 4:57Speaker 1: the debt one of.
- 4:58Speaker 2: The Yeah, so the some of the article that are
- 5:00Speaker 2: a little older. Yeah, and by a little older, we
- 5:03Speaker 2: mean like two days, two or three days. But that's
- 5:06Speaker 2: how fast this is spreading in that particular area. Yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 2: And if they can keep it contained to China. That'll
- 5:14Speaker 2: be good, but it maybe they can't do they even.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Have the healthcare available to deal with it. Sounds like
- 5:22Speaker 1: a crisis there.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It is a super duper crisis. They have drafted fourteen
- 5:28Speaker 2: hundred doctors and healthcare practitioners out of the Chinese military
- 5:34Speaker 2: and they have them working only on the coronavirus. They
- 5:39Speaker 2: built a hospital that holds eleven hundred people yeah in
- 5:44Speaker 2: ten days, oh my god. Uh. And then another one
- 5:47Speaker 2: that holds thirteen hundred people is going to be finished
- 5:50Speaker 2: later this month. So they're doing a lot to try
- 5:53Speaker 2: and contain it.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, how do they I'm always curious how
- 5:57Speaker 1: the healthcare providers protect themselves because they're going to have
- 6:01Speaker 1: just this exposure.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing they have to. If you're treating
- 6:06Speaker 2: someone in quarantine, you have to kind of be quarantine yourself,
- 6:12Speaker 2: and you have to when you go in to interact
- 6:14Speaker 2: with them. I'm assuming you have to be all fucking
- 6:16Speaker 2: has matted up. Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I was curious because I know here, you know, people
- 6:21Speaker 1: are like you know, doctors are around sick people all
- 6:24Speaker 1: the time and they aren't has mated up, and they're
- 6:26Speaker 1: around like you know, the regular flu is very contagious.
- 6:29Speaker 1: There's something called a bone breaker of flu. Another comedian
- 6:32Speaker 1: told me he had and it felt like his bones
- 6:35Speaker 1: were breaking when he walked. Oh, and he had to
- 6:38Speaker 1: walk to a clinic for you know, yeah, because he
- 6:42Speaker 1: didn't want to feel like that anymore. And then when
- 6:46Speaker 1: he got to the clinic, the doctors would not come
- 6:48Speaker 1: in the room. They threw his prescription at him because
- 6:52Speaker 1: there was such a contagious, awful, fucking flu. And do
- 6:55Speaker 1: you blame.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Them, Oh, yeah, of course not.
- 6:58Speaker 1: So.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how they nixed.
- 7:00Speaker 1: His bill also because they felt bad about it.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But it's you know, like it's they're pretty courageous.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah. The people who have been quarantined in the United States,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I think a lot of them are just being quarantined
- 7:15Speaker 2: at home. There's a husband and wife in San Francisco
- 7:19Speaker 2: that got it and they're just at home and they
- 7:22Speaker 2: can't leave, but.
- 7:23Speaker 1: They're making sure they don't leave. The government they have
- 7:28Speaker 1: people posting outside probably.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It's so scary about bioterrorism. Is it just like you
- 7:33Speaker 1: can't really see it coming.
- 7:35Speaker 2: No, And that's that's one of the concerns, is biowarfare.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Is that this is actually a bio weapon that was
- 7:44Speaker 2: created by take your pick. When it comes to the countries,
- 7:48Speaker 2: the first obvious one that people are talking about is China.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And the thing about the theory that this is a
- 7:57Speaker 2: bio weapon made by China, for one thing. It all
- 8:01Speaker 2: kind of starts with an article on a right leaning
- 8:05Speaker 2: website called The Washington Times, which is very easy to
- 8:09Speaker 2: confuse for the Washington Post if you're just scanning through headlines,
- 8:14Speaker 2: and they interviewed this former Israeli military officer who was
- 8:20Speaker 2: talking about this place called the Wuhan Institute of Virology,
- 8:26Speaker 2: which is a real place, and it's in It's in Wuhan, obviously,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and it's China's most advanced biological research lab according to
- 8:38Speaker 2: that article.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I don't it's in the city of origin right of
- 8:43Speaker 1: this particular coronavirus, which is actually they're calling it the
- 8:46Speaker 1: novel coronavirus, meaning new coronavirus. And then there's some number.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and the thing about Wuhan or Wuhan, I think
- 8:57Speaker 2: it's Wuhan.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But like as ignorant Americans, we tend to hear things
- 9:05Speaker 2: like disease that started in bats and spread through a
- 9:09Speaker 2: meat market and think that this is happening in some
- 9:14Speaker 2: small isolated town. Wuhan is huge. It's the biggest city
- 9:21Speaker 2: in Hubei Province. Population is eleven million people.
- 9:26Speaker 1: That is huge.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the seventh most populous city in China.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And the most populous country.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Right, and the most populous in I believe, Central China.
- 9:38Speaker 1: This is a huge metropolitan area that's affected.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It's a huge place. So, yeah, people do a lot
- 9:44Speaker 2: of business in Wuhan, and that's how all of the
- 9:47Speaker 2: cases that have happened here, it's been people who've traveled
- 9:51Speaker 2: there and came back here. And so that this theory
- 9:57Speaker 2: is that what this Israeli intelligence agent was pushing in
- 10:02Speaker 2: this article, he wasn't really even pushing this theory. What
- 10:06Speaker 2: he he said is that this Wuhan Institute of Virology
- 10:11Speaker 2: could be part of China's biochemical warfare program, which is
- 10:17Speaker 2: a thing that we don't even know for sure exists,
- 10:20Speaker 2: but he says he has studied it and that it's
- 10:24Speaker 2: a real thing, and that this.
- 10:27Speaker 1: The program is a real thing. The program is a
- 10:29Speaker 1: real thing because it's factual that the institute exists, right,
- 10:32Speaker 1: the Institute for Research, Right, But yeah, the biowarfare is
- 10:37Speaker 1: a very charge term like that name sounds weapons, sound scary.
- 10:41Speaker 2: But those are the these are the companies that make
- 10:44Speaker 2: vaccines and shit. Yeah, so of course they're going to
- 10:47Speaker 2: have access to these viruses. And his he doesn't even
- 10:53Speaker 2: say that this company is directly involved in that. He
- 10:57Speaker 2: says there's a chance that they could be at some point,
- 11:02Speaker 2: or maybe they are now to some small extent, but
- 11:05Speaker 2: not publicly involved with this bioweapons program. And then he
- 11:10Speaker 2: doesn't explicitly say that it came from them. What he says,
- 11:14Speaker 2: and it kind of speaks to your question about medical
- 11:18Speaker 2: practitioners and how they deal with these patients. Sometimes, if
- 11:22Speaker 2: you're working in one of these labs that deals with
- 11:24Speaker 2: these viruses, you can accidentally get infected or contaminated in
- 11:30Speaker 2: some way and make it out the door without realizing it. Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 2: and now you've spread it in a day.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Happen.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, And all he was saying is that could be
- 11:41Speaker 2: what happened. And if that's the case, I don't care, like, well.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not like malicious intent, that's not diabolical, that's
- 11:49Speaker 1: a that's an accident, because I mean, it's you can't
- 11:53Speaker 1: see these things with your bare eye, how would you know?
- 11:56Speaker 2: Right? And what that turned into is this right wing
- 12:00Speaker 2: website called zero Hedge, which is like a financial website,
- 12:04Speaker 2: but they also post a bunch of right wing conspiracy theories. Yeah,
- 12:08Speaker 2: pick a fucking lane. They they published the name of
- 12:13Speaker 2: a scientist who works at Wuhan Institute of Virology and
- 12:18Speaker 2: basically said, this is the guy who started Wuhan coronavirus,
- 12:22Speaker 2: and they posted like his address and phone number and
- 12:25Speaker 2: shit on Twitter. Got permanently banned from Twitter for doing it. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 2: but once it's out there, it's out there.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, now the guy is at risk.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And the reason they singled him out is
- 12:38Speaker 2: there's an article out there from like twenty thirteen that
- 12:42Speaker 2: just said he was studying bats to find out why
- 12:46Speaker 2: they don't ever get sick from coronavirus. But that's also
- 12:50Speaker 2: what someone who was researching a vaccine would do, Like
- 12:54Speaker 2: that's how you create vaccines. You find the thing that
- 12:57Speaker 2: causes it and kind of reverse engineer from there.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So there really wasn't much proof.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It was just no proof.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It was yeah, so no proof, and they just put
- 13:05Speaker 1: that basically tried to ruin a guy's life.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Exactly, which they deserve to get banned from Twitter for that. Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And the name of that Israeli intelligence officer was Danny
- 13:16Speaker 2: show him. That's not me doxing him. His name is
- 13:20Speaker 2: in the fucking article.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I've thrown him under the bus.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But uh, this was his his address out there.
- 13:30Speaker 2: This is where you can find him tomorrow at two pm.
- 13:34Speaker 2: This was his exact quote. In principle, outward virus infiltration
- 13:39Speaker 2: might take place either as leakage or as an indoor,
- 13:44Speaker 2: unnoticed infection of a person that normally went out of
- 13:48Speaker 2: the concerned facility. This could have been the case with
- 13:52Speaker 2: the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but so far there isn't
- 13:56Speaker 2: evidence or indication for such an incident. So he even
- 14:01Speaker 2: ends his own statement about it by saying, there's no
- 14:04Speaker 2: evidence that what I'm saying.
- 14:05Speaker 1: This is not the guy who released the address, is it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: No?
- 14:08Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, no, it sounds like I mean, that sounds
- 14:11Speaker 1: pretty reasonable. Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I feel like he was probably almost kind of cornered
- 14:17Speaker 2: into saying yeah, it's a possibility. Yeah, and then they
- 14:21Speaker 2: latch onto that and.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yeah, like pushing him to get the quote.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And the the other weird thing about the Wuhan
- 14:33Speaker 2: Institute of Virology. There was this meme going around. I
- 14:37Speaker 2: don't know if you saw this. I put it in
- 14:39Speaker 2: the notes kind of late. But do you ever play
- 14:41Speaker 2: Resident Evil?
- 14:42Speaker 1: No?
- 14:43Speaker 2: I don't either, but I know it's a video game.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And at the center of that video game is this. Yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 2: there's move there's movies. The Umbrella Corporation is the evil
- 14:55Speaker 2: corporation at the center of the Resident Evil universe. And
- 15:00Speaker 2: this meme went around showing that the Wuhan Institute of
- 15:04Speaker 2: Virology has the exact same logo.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Is a see conspiracy?
- 15:11Speaker 2: Can you deal with that?
- 15:12Speaker 1: I can't. I can't because all the conspiracy theories who
- 15:15Speaker 1: are listening to this, they are all just like, like
- 15:18Speaker 1: very turned on right now. I'm kind of turned on
- 15:22Speaker 1: by it as well.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Well. The problem with this meme and oh and the
- 15:26Speaker 2: other thing in the Resident Evil universe, the Umbrella Corporation
- 15:31Speaker 2: unleashes a virus in a town called Raccoon City.
- 15:36Speaker 1: So how can all these secret societies love putting their
- 15:40Speaker 1: symbolism everywhere exactly? It's sort of like a serial killers
- 15:43Speaker 1: want trophies.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And the thing about Raccoon City, Raccoon is an anagram
- 15:48Speaker 2: for Corona, so that has also got people all in
- 15:52Speaker 2: a tizzy. The problem with that logoe it is not
- 15:57Speaker 2: from the Wuhan Institute of Viral You can even see
- 16:01Speaker 2: the actual name of the place written in English underneath
- 16:06Speaker 2: all of the Chinese characters. It's a place in Shanghai propaganda. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 2: it's it's a it's just factually inaccurate. It's a completely
- 16:18Speaker 2: different places logo. And they're saying it's the Wuhan Institute
- 16:21Speaker 2: of Virology because it makes for a fun meme that
- 16:25Speaker 2: scares people.
- 16:26Speaker 1: But it is a fun meme. It is like, I yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 1: it's irresponsible to it's I mean, it's very irresponsible and reckless.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it would be fascinating if they did
- 16:37Speaker 2: have the same logo and all those similarities were there.
- 16:40Speaker 1: What a great story, right.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Raccoon and Corona they're still anagrams. So
- 16:46Speaker 2: good luck fighting back against that truth.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's proof right there. That is proof because in
- 16:51Speaker 1: the in the Corona pudding, Uh, oh my god. This
- 16:57Speaker 1: is everyone's really like, really, isn't a tizzy about this?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:02Speaker 1: And I don't, And I think it's because it's the media.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's this reminds me of the bird flu.
- 17:08Speaker 1: This reminds me of stars like right when everyone was
- 17:12Speaker 1: freaking out and yeah, it's horrible, but like most you know.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Most people aren't gonna get it are exposed to it,
- 17:19Speaker 2: especially here. Yeah, but it's I mean, it's cause for
- 17:23Speaker 2: concern if it does get here.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I think it is, but not to a point where
- 17:28Speaker 1: people are asking if they shouldrub bleach on their skin. Right,
- 17:32Speaker 1: that will also fuck you up, right.
- 17:34Speaker 2: And those are we're going to get in that. There's
- 17:37Speaker 2: kind of two classes of conspiracy theories that have sprung
- 17:41Speaker 2: up around this. There's where it came from and then
- 17:45Speaker 2: the things you can do to prevent it, and they're
- 17:48Speaker 2: both insane. Well not actually, the theories about where it
- 17:52Speaker 2: came from are almost less insane, but not really.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Well, I think it's it's when people put a motive
- 18:00Speaker 1: to it. So you know, there's a big difference between
- 18:04Speaker 1: a leakage of something that you know, viruses are harder
- 18:08Speaker 1: to contain than horses, right, so you know it's that
- 18:13Speaker 1: versus you know, this was injected into the population to
- 18:17Speaker 1: kill you know, a city off and make this country
- 18:21Speaker 1: less dense or whatever, you know, whatever the motive there is,
- 18:24Speaker 1: So like those are two very different things.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and we're seeing all of it. Yeah, with
- 18:29Speaker 2: these conspiracies. The next one China stole it from Canada,
- 18:35Speaker 2: And this one is just kind of pure fantasy. It
- 18:40Speaker 2: started with an article on a bullshit news site called
- 18:44Speaker 2: Great Game India, which that is quite a title. Their
- 18:50Speaker 2: argument is that Chinese intelligence infiltrated the National Microbiology Laboratory
- 18:56Speaker 2: in Winnipeg. They're basing this entire theory on this twenty
- 19:01Speaker 2: thirteen article about the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg looking
- 19:07Speaker 2: into a bunch of coronavirus outbreaks in Saudi Arabia. And
- 19:12Speaker 2: what a lot of these stories and articles either don't
- 19:17Speaker 2: realize or are intentionally leaving out is Coronavirus is a
- 19:22Speaker 2: term that covers a lot of different things.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It's a large family of viruses that can range from
- 19:27Speaker 1: a common cold to obviously whatever is out right now
- 19:31Speaker 1: than novel coronavirus everyone's freaking out about now.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's SARS was a coronavirus. MERZ, which is Middle
- 19:39Speaker 2: East respiratory syndrome, was a coronavirus. You get your common
- 19:44Speaker 2: colds from coronavirus. So the fact that this lab was
- 19:50Speaker 2: actually working on Merz. Yeah, that's it was outbreaks in
- 19:55Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia. So they're just kind of taking the fact
- 19:59Speaker 2: that the the word coronavirus is in this article from
- 20:02Speaker 2: twenty thirteen and going what if China stole it from Canada.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So they're using this buzzword to create drama, right when
- 20:10Speaker 1: thinking out of context.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, when the fact is Canada didn't have this strain
- 20:15Speaker 2: of coronavirus. That's not what they were working on. So
- 20:20Speaker 2: that one's stupid. It's a bio weapon created by the
- 20:25Speaker 2: United States. This one comes from Russia. Yeah, and this
- 20:29Speaker 2: is it's stuff like this that make me so angry
- 20:33Speaker 2: when people are like stop seeing Russia in everything. It's like, motherfucker,
- 20:37Speaker 2: Russia has been in everything forever.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Yeah, just sort of there, like the nosey.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Anir Yeah, like it's what they're like a stalker, Like
- 20:45Speaker 2: they're just always in the background fucking with you in
- 20:48Speaker 2: some way.
- 20:49Speaker 1: The face app yeah, where everyone was like, yeah that
- 20:53Speaker 1: filter to make everyone look very old, like this is
- 20:55Speaker 1: what you look like when you're ninety.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, because that won't come in handy in the future
- 21:01Speaker 2: for country that might want to make fake videos of you,
- 21:04Speaker 2: like my God and they're doing the same thing now
- 21:10Speaker 2: with coronavirus. There's two different articles.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Time on their hands.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Maybe Yeah, it's I mean, it's their preferred method of
- 21:18Speaker 2: fighting wars Inanda, intervening in country's affairs as propaganda.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You know what, it's it's less bloodshed, yeah, I mean, yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 1: it's still obviously causes a lot of chaos.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah, we should just there should be no more real wars.
- 21:33Speaker 2: We should just have flame wars. Remember those? Yeah, you
- 21:37Speaker 2: know what happened to flame wars?
- 21:38Speaker 1: Use your words? Yeah, did your ideas?
- 21:43Speaker 2: I guess that's I guess that was the Cold War though,
- 21:46Speaker 2: now that I think about it, Yeah, just a different term.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Those boomers called it Cold war. We called them flame wars.
- 21:53Speaker 2: So there's two different articles where this started. One claim
- 21:57Speaker 2: that we launched the virus in China because we're losing
- 22:02Speaker 2: billions of dollars in our trade war and want to
- 22:06Speaker 2: undermine their country.
- 22:08Speaker 1: That's evil.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That is evil, and the coronavirus is definitely going to
- 22:13Speaker 2: impact their economy in a really bad way. But there's
- 22:18Speaker 2: no actual evidence.
- 22:20Speaker 1: So they are building hospitals. Yeah, and and I'm probably
- 22:24Speaker 1: probably you know, giving like there's probably lunch job opportunities
- 22:29Speaker 1: for doctors and healthcare providers.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but the rest of like, yeah, the.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Rest of it, No one's like going to the movies.
- 22:36Speaker 2: And well, a big part of their business or a
- 22:39Speaker 2: big part of their economy is small and medium sized businesses.
- 22:44Speaker 2: And most of those, unless they're like a small pharmacy
- 22:48Speaker 2: or something, are have been like ordered to shut down. Yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 2: so they there was this New York Times article where
- 22:56Speaker 2: they interviewed a guy who uh sells chickens and and
- 23:00Speaker 2: he's like, not only can I not sell my chickens
- 23:02Speaker 2: right now, but the company that I buy feed from
- 23:05Speaker 2: so my chickens stay alive can't sell me feed. So
- 23:09Speaker 2: I'm just gonna lose everything.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So it's just this domino effect of yeah, nothing being
- 23:14Speaker 1: available and everyone sort of fit this stay out. I mean,
- 23:17Speaker 1: if there if they are these huge quarantines, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you can't really get well.
- 23:22Speaker 2: The government won't let him sell anything, like the government
- 23:27Speaker 2: ordered those businesses to be shut down, so he has
- 23:30Speaker 2: no income, right, And it's uh, it's gonna fuck with
- 23:34Speaker 2: China's economy quite a bit because that's a big, big
- 23:37Speaker 2: part of their economy. So I understand why people would
- 23:40Speaker 2: think the United States would want to introduce something like
- 23:46Speaker 2: this into the population to help us win a trade war,
- 23:50Speaker 2: Like that's really harsh.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It's a I mean, it is some evil shit.
- 23:54Speaker 2: And we did recently sign a trade deal with China.
- 23:58Speaker 1: It's ruthless.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Maybe that's when we did it, signed the trade deal,
- 24:01Speaker 2: got a little coronavirus on the tip of the pen
- 24:03Speaker 2: and jab them in the arm. Trump, did it? Trump?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Spread the coronavirus?
- 24:10Speaker 1: You planted it on the pen? Will Yeah, they dipped
- 24:15Speaker 1: it in the coronavirus, signed it.
- 24:17Speaker 2: So I get why people think we would want to
- 24:21Speaker 2: wreck China that way, but I just I'm I'm willing
- 24:24Speaker 2: to see the evidence. Yeah, I mean, there isn't.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Any I mean, that's one way to look at it.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Fucking up there. Shit, Well, you know, could quote unquote
- 24:35Speaker 1: help us, but it's you know, that's.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, And the thing is China that that take is
- 24:43Speaker 2: assuming China is doing really well in that trade war
- 24:47Speaker 2: and they're not like it's hurting China too. That's why
- 24:51Speaker 2: we signed a trade deal, Like that's you sign that
- 24:54Speaker 2: deal when both sides agree that the war is over. Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and there's still like a trade war going on, but
- 25:02Speaker 2: there's just no proof that we created this and send
- 25:06Speaker 2: it to China, especially when you take into account that
- 25:09Speaker 2: it's coming from this was coming from an actual Russian website.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's a juicy story though, Oh yeah, for sure, and
- 25:18Speaker 1: tell your grandkids about it.
- 25:20Speaker 2: But there's an example of Russia having done this in
- 25:24Speaker 2: the past, and it's very similar. It was called Operation Infection,
- 25:29Speaker 2: except infection with a K, yeah, because it's Russia, and
- 25:33Speaker 2: this was a propaganda campaign carried out by Russia starting
- 25:37Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty three with the intention of spreading the
- 25:41Speaker 2: idea that the United States created the AIDS virus and
- 25:45Speaker 2: spread it on purpose.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I've heard of this. I didn't realize
- 25:50Speaker 1: it even stemmed from Russia or did it stem from Russia?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Because it also it is interesting to think about how
- 25:56Speaker 1: HIV was you know, it is something that can be
- 25:59Speaker 1: spread amongst heterosexual like couple sex partners. But why was
- 26:05Speaker 1: it so much in the gay community. Why was it
- 26:09Speaker 1: so much in the hood? You know, why didn't you
- 26:11Speaker 1: see this in the suburbs? Yeah, you know, why weren't
- 26:14Speaker 1: you know, your average you know, straight dudes concerned about this.
- 26:19Speaker 1: So it's it is interesting which populations it affected.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a comedian I feel like I don't
- 26:26Speaker 2: even want to name him, even though it was on
- 26:28Speaker 2: my podcast. Yeah, and he had gone to the doctor
- 26:33Speaker 2: and just for like a routine thing, and he was like, uh, oh,
- 26:36Speaker 2: should I get an AIDS test? And the doctor was like,
- 26:39Speaker 2: are you gay? And he's like no, but I've had
- 26:43Speaker 2: quite a bit of unprotected sex in my life. And
- 26:47Speaker 2: the doctor was just like, nah, you're probably fine.
- 26:50Speaker 1: What that's crazy? Oh my god. Yeah, I mean it's
- 26:56Speaker 1: just as I mean, isn't it just as easy to
- 26:58Speaker 1: spread it between or is it? Is it riskier with
- 27:01Speaker 1: anal Yeah?
- 27:02Speaker 2: See, I don't know, I don't I don't have Then.
- 27:05Speaker 1: It's also like it was, it wasn't just like ravaging
- 27:09Speaker 1: that community then you know then age was rampant in
- 27:13Speaker 1: the hoods. Yeah, so it is like it is, it
- 27:17Speaker 1: is an interesting way to look at it a possibility
- 27:20Speaker 1: that and it's evil again, it's something that's evil that
- 27:23Speaker 1: our government would do this as a way to go
- 27:28Speaker 1: a population cleansing. Yeah, it's I mean disenfranchised, marginalized groups.
- 27:34Speaker 2: It's probably a thing we should do a separate episode about.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's one point.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But yeah, that particular campaign started with Russia. They were
- 27:45Speaker 2: the first ones to spread that idea and they kicked
- 27:50Speaker 2: that campaign off the same way. This one kicked off
- 27:52Speaker 2: with an article in India, but in this case it
- 27:56Speaker 2: was on a newspaper obviously because it was nineteen eighty three,
- 28:00Speaker 2: year of the chicken McNugget. Uh was it?
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh the McNuggets older than I am.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, I'm old enough to remember clearly getting chicken
- 28:08Speaker 2: McNuggets in my life for the first time. Uh. Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I was just a privileged, privileged young person.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Never knew how good you had it.
- 28:17Speaker 1: They always existed.
- 28:18Speaker 2: It was always there, always chicken nuggets for you.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Always had running water and always had chicken.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Nuggets, and that's all you need. Uh. So the headline
- 28:28Speaker 2: in that article from nineteen eighty three aids may invade
- 28:31Speaker 2: India mystery disease caused by US experiments, And it turned
- 28:37Speaker 2: out that was a Kremlin back newspaper and in nineteen
- 28:39Speaker 2: ninety two Russia admitted Operation Infection was a KGB operation. Wow.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Russia had this weird period where they were like, we're
- 28:49Speaker 2: going to be a good government now, yeah, And it
- 28:52Speaker 2: lasted about as long it lasted until Putin took over
- 28:56Speaker 2: and then Putin was like, no more, We're done with that.
- 28:59Speaker 1: It's interesting that they're they're dropping this information in Indian
- 29:03Speaker 1: publications because there's I don't know what the political relationship
- 29:08Speaker 1: is between the countries, but I just know every time
- 29:10Speaker 1: I've talked to a Russian person who's a generation or
- 29:13Speaker 1: two above me, they always talk about Bollywood movies. They
- 29:17Speaker 1: love Bollywood movies.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Weird, And then.
- 29:19Speaker 1: You know, because I'm of Indian descent, Yeah, it's sort
- 29:22Speaker 1: of like their point of connection with me. So I
- 29:25Speaker 1: don't know, Ye, I don't know what that connection is,
- 29:27Speaker 1: because it is it does seem otherwise random that they
- 29:30Speaker 1: would choose this newspaper in India right to release this
- 29:35Speaker 1: propaganda about the US.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah it Yeah, I don't know why you would start
- 29:40Speaker 2: it in India. That's it seems like a weird choice.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And then also, you know, so it says Russia admitted
- 29:48Speaker 1: that the operation was a KGB or yeah, infection was
- 29:51Speaker 1: a KGB operation. But I mean, yeah, I was always
- 29:55Speaker 1: I was just I'm so curious we got to have
- 29:58Speaker 1: another episode on this, because are there other sources of
- 30:03Speaker 1: information or claims about the government, you know, creating HIV? Yeah,
- 30:10Speaker 1: releasing it.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's definitely a conspiracy that's been out
- 30:15Speaker 2: there for a while, either that or the idea that
- 30:18Speaker 2: the US government has a cure yeah for AIDS and
- 30:21Speaker 2: just does holds it. And because of the communities it
- 30:25Speaker 2: was spreading in, they were like, eh, we can wait, just.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, thin out. Yeah, let's see. That's evil, like to
- 30:34Speaker 1: have your own government just oh yeah. It's like even
- 30:38Speaker 1: with the with the first theory that we were talking
- 30:41Speaker 1: about with China releasing it, like you know, you're it's
- 30:45Speaker 1: you're devastating your own country. But then that goes back
- 30:48Speaker 1: to sort of like the you know, the other theories
- 30:51Speaker 1: of like nine to eleven being an inside job and.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Right, yeah, I mean we know our government has done
- 30:57Speaker 2: lots and lots of awful shit, like everyone has to
- 31:00Speaker 2: know that. Yeah, it's always shocking to me when people
- 31:04Speaker 2: are shocked to find out that our government has done
- 31:07Speaker 2: something crazy.
- 31:09Speaker 1: What's more public is what the government has done outside
- 31:11Speaker 1: of this country. And that's not you know, like them
- 31:14Speaker 1: like bombing civilians in the Middle East. That's not you
- 31:19Speaker 1: know that, that's just news. Yeah, there's uh, and that's
- 31:22Speaker 1: fucking awful. Abu grabe, like just all this stuff, but like, yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 1: I think it's a lot more taboo to insinuate the
- 31:31Speaker 1: government attacking its people. Oh yeah, that's not in mainstream media, right.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah. There's like when it comes to US and biological weapons,
- 31:42Speaker 2: there's a conspiracy theory or rumor that we actually used
- 31:48Speaker 2: biological weapons in Korea, and that would probably be worth
- 31:54Speaker 2: exploring at some point as an episode two. I don't
- 31:57Speaker 2: think we talked about it on There's a doc documentary
- 32:00Speaker 2: called Wormwood. Have you ever seen it?
- 32:02Speaker 1: I haven't.
- 32:02Speaker 2: It's on Netflix, and it's about Ostensibly, it's about the
- 32:08Speaker 2: CIA back when they were giving everyone LSD just to
- 32:11Speaker 2: see what would happen. They gave this guy too much
- 32:15Speaker 2: LSD and he jumped out a window, and that was
- 32:18Speaker 2: the story the CIA actually embraced. They were like, Yep,
- 32:22Speaker 2: that is exactly what happened. This was just an experiment
- 32:26Speaker 2: and we gave him too much LSD and he committed suicide.
- 32:29Speaker 2: But what that documentary ends up pushing as the actual
- 32:35Speaker 2: thing that happened is that yes, they gave him LSD,
- 32:39Speaker 2: but it gave him a conscience and what he wanted
- 32:43Speaker 2: to do after he had his big LSD awakening was
- 32:46Speaker 2: tell the American people that we used biological weapons in
- 32:50Speaker 2: the Korean War, and all of this time when he's
- 32:53Speaker 2: in CIA custody is basically them being like, listen, you
- 32:57Speaker 2: cannot fucking tell people this or something battle happen. And
- 33:02Speaker 2: they just couldn't talk him out of it.
- 33:04Speaker 1: How did you this information?
- 33:06Speaker 2: Because he worked on the biological weapons program.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So that's so weird that someone who works for the
- 33:13Speaker 1: government is someone who's being experimented on that.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's what mk ultra. Mk ultra was that. Uh,
- 33:21Speaker 2: mk ultra was just a big government experiment, like mind control.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Test subjects aren't aren't people who work for.
- 33:30Speaker 2: The government, No, they were like American citizens.
- 33:33Speaker 1: So this guy also worked for the government. He also
- 33:35Speaker 1: worked test subjects simultaneously.
- 33:37Speaker 2: They would do in the early early days of mk
- 33:40Speaker 2: ultra is just like take employees out to a retreat, huh,
- 33:44Speaker 2: to a cabin wow, and then would just secretly dose
- 33:47Speaker 2: everyone with LSD and see what happened. The CIA ran
- 33:50Speaker 2: a fucking brothel in San Francisco in the sixties and
- 33:54Speaker 2: it was part of mk ultra. They would get dudes
- 33:56Speaker 2: high and fucking send in prostitutes and film it all
- 34:00Speaker 2: and then you have all this incriminating information on all
- 34:03Speaker 2: these powerful dudes. I don't know if that sounds familiar
- 34:05Speaker 2: to anyone.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Uh, we covered it in another episode, Jeffrey Epstein.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but government does some shit.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I don't think anything's outside of the realm of possibility.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I just don't know how. Like, I don't know, like
- 34:18Speaker 2: to get a virus from the United States to China
- 34:24Speaker 2: and unleash it, you got to travel with that thing
- 34:27Speaker 2: in ideal conditions, which is kind of lends itself to
- 34:32Speaker 2: what we're going to get into next is the myths
- 34:35Speaker 2: and conspiracies that are popping up around how to protect
- 34:38Speaker 2: yourself from coronavirus. And one of the concerns people had
- 34:43Speaker 2: that we mentioned on the Pretty Scary episode is, well,
- 34:46Speaker 2: what if I have a package coming from China? Can
- 34:49Speaker 2: I am I going to catch coronavirus that way and
- 34:53Speaker 2: you you won't?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Yeah? I think I think it's It's not a dumb question.
- 34:56Speaker 2: No, it's definitely not a dumb question. But the reason
- 35:00Speaker 2: this is only spreading from people who are in close
- 35:03Speaker 2: contact with each other is because viruses don't live that
- 35:07Speaker 2: long outside their host. They need they need very specific
- 35:11Speaker 2: conditions to live and thrive and the outside of an
- 35:15Speaker 2: Amazon package coming from China in a shipping container is
- 35:19Speaker 2: not the conditions they need.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so it's how do you smuggle a virus?
- 35:24Speaker 2: Uh, you'd have to have like that contraption like in
- 35:27Speaker 2: twelve Monkeys. Have you ever seen twelve Monkeys? No?
- 35:30Speaker 1: But I think I know what you're talking about.
- 35:32Speaker 2: You know the thing? Yeahh It like makes a noise
- 35:36Speaker 2: when it's shut Customs you just threaten to open it.
- 35:40Speaker 1: And I don't know was this on Air Force one?
- 35:43Speaker 2: So let's talk about the other conspiracies that are coming up.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Which are the conspiracies about how to fight coronavirus?
- 35:52Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, Uh.
- 35:53Speaker 2: One of my favorites is that we knew ahead of
- 35:58Speaker 2: time about coronavirus. And the reason we the United States
- 36:02Speaker 2: knew is because coronavirus is listed as one of the
- 36:06Speaker 2: things that lysol and Clorox wipes are capable of killing.
- 36:11Speaker 1: And they just say coronavirus.
- 36:13Speaker 2: It just says corona, which is a family.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Of a lot of different viruses including one that.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the same misunderstanding as in a lot of
- 36:23Speaker 2: these other stories. You see coronavirus and think that's what's
- 36:27Speaker 2: happening right now. But coronavirus has been around forever, and
- 36:32Speaker 2: there is actually this version hasn't been around long enough
- 36:36Speaker 2: for us to know if lysol or clorox will kill it.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I bet they're they're benefiting from.
- 36:44Speaker 2: It though, Yeah, I bet they're itching to find out.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but anything is that a symptom?
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they just walk in someone's apartment and spray it
- 36:53Speaker 2: on the counter, wipe it off, wait to see if
- 36:56Speaker 2: they die two weeks later. No one ever knows.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Oh my god, that.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Would almost be the ethical way to do it, just
- 37:02Speaker 2: pick someone randomly.
- 37:04Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah it is. I can see how it
- 37:07Speaker 1: benefits their business though, because if they already have coronavirus
- 37:10Speaker 1: listed on their labels, people will see that. People are
- 37:13Speaker 1: in a frenzy about the coronavirus, so you know, they're like,
- 37:17Speaker 1: oh my god, this prevents it, right, you just see it.
- 37:20Speaker 1: And that's the thing is I before doing this podcast,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I looked up coronavirus and that's you know, when I
- 37:25Speaker 1: found out, Oh, it's a family of viruses and they're
- 37:28Speaker 1: what people are freaking out is a very specific, specific
- 37:32Speaker 1: virus in that large family.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Right, So like almost all of US have probably had
- 37:38Speaker 2: a version of coronavirus at some point, like anytime you
- 37:41Speaker 2: had a cold, Yeah, you had it, And that's what
- 37:44Speaker 2: lysol and chlorox are talking about. It does not mean
- 37:47Speaker 2: the United States had advanced knowledge of this coronavirus outbreak.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it just means, like a lot of people get
- 37:54Speaker 1: common colds and lysol is legal. This will protect you
- 37:57Speaker 1: against the common cold.
- 37:58Speaker 2: And it definitely doesn't mean you should like fashion one
- 38:01Speaker 2: of those masks out of a Clorox wipe when you
- 38:04Speaker 2: head out into the world.
- 38:05Speaker 1: See, this is that shit does not need to be
- 38:08Speaker 1: in your body. Clorox, no bleach.
- 38:11Speaker 2: No, And that's the whole thing. We're going to talk
- 38:14Speaker 2: in a couple of minutes about that exact thing. People
- 38:17Speaker 2: suggesting that you should drink this specific like almost bleach solution.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I knew a girl in college. She used to take
- 38:24Speaker 1: bats with bleach. Why oh no. I think she thought, like,
- 38:29Speaker 1: you must be a germophobe.
- 38:31Speaker 2: It's got to be bad for you. Yeah, I'm sure
- 38:34Speaker 2: can't be good for your skin. No soaking in bleach.
- 38:39Speaker 1: You're like, I just use a little bit of bleach
- 38:40Speaker 1: on myself.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, that's that's weird. Also, garlic and sesame oil
- 38:47Speaker 2: won't save you from There's the The World Health Organization
- 38:51Speaker 2: has had to get on Twitter and shoot down all
- 38:55Speaker 2: these rumors. One of them is that if you spread
- 38:59Speaker 2: either garlic or sesame oil on your body, it'll keep
- 39:03Speaker 2: you from getting this virus.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Sounds like they're talking about casting a spell.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of, and you recite ven and I I
- 39:13Speaker 2: One of the weird side effects of me having researched
- 39:17Speaker 2: this so much the past week is, Uh, there's this
- 39:21Speaker 2: dish called Wuhan Noodles. Yeah that I really want to
- 39:24Speaker 2: try now because there's a there's a restaurant in Canada
- 39:28Speaker 2: called Wuhan Noodles nineteen fifty. Oh it's getting Oh they're
- 39:33Speaker 2: getting all this racist bullshit on Instagram. They've lost like
- 39:37Speaker 2: two thirds of their customers.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Are people throwing clorox at them?
- 39:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it's they're getting a lot of fucking heat
- 39:44Speaker 2: over it. And they're like, man, we've never even been there,
- 39:47Speaker 2: like our ancestors are from there.
- 39:49Speaker 1: It's just like something like Chicago Pizza, Like if Chicago
- 39:53Speaker 1: was infected and exactly Chicago Pizza and wherever.
- 39:58Speaker 2: But that made me look up the the dish they serve,
- 40:02Speaker 2: which is it's called hot dry noodles. It sounds so
- 40:05Speaker 2: fucking good.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I mean, I'm kind, it's I want to do. I'm hungry.
- 40:08Speaker 2: There's a place in San Gabriel Valley that serves it
- 40:11Speaker 2: that I found, and I think I'm gonna head out
- 40:14Speaker 2: there this weekend. This fucking virus isn't keeping me.
- 40:16Speaker 1: You're gonna go to San Gabriel Valley for the coronavirus.
- 40:19Speaker 2: You're gonna go to the SGV and eat them corona noodles.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I cannot wait. It sounds so fucking good, and it's
- 40:27Speaker 2: they're cooked in sesame oil. So I wonder if people
- 40:31Speaker 2: like saw that and we're like, oh, get two and
- 40:34Speaker 2: two together. Sesame oil will keep you safe from wuhan virus. Uh.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Other than that, I have no idea where people got
- 40:43Speaker 2: this from. The World Health Organization also had to warn
- 40:47Speaker 2: people about putting like lysol and shit on their upper lip,
- 40:52Speaker 2: assuming that like, oh, if I come into contact with it,
- 40:54Speaker 2: it's gonna fly over that lysol on my lip first,
- 40:59Speaker 2: and then I'll be sick.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's just you're breathing the air.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you're just breathing lyesol For as long as it
- 41:06Speaker 2: takes for that to dry, and that could also make
- 41:09Speaker 2: you sick, so don't do it. And there's also this
- 41:14Speaker 2: crazy article on it's on a tabloid, so hopefully most
- 41:20Speaker 2: people don't believe it. It's on the Sun, which is
- 41:23Speaker 2: a British tabloid, and the headline says first brit known
- 41:28Speaker 2: to catch a virus beat deadly flu with glass of
- 41:31Speaker 2: hot whiskey and honey. It's silly, it's dumb. It's so dumb,
- 41:37Speaker 2: and if you read the article, that is in no way,
- 41:40Speaker 2: shape or form what happened. This guy was a teacher
- 41:43Speaker 2: in Wuhan and he's twenty five years old, appears to
- 41:47Speaker 2: be in pretty good health, so he's not even sort
- 41:51Speaker 2: of the demographic yeah, in terms of who this kills.
- 41:56Speaker 2: And he says he didn't take the antibiotics because he
- 42:00Speaker 2: didn't want to take medicine. But then he also says
- 42:03Speaker 2: they gave him an inhaler, yeah, and he took that
- 42:05Speaker 2: until it ran out. Well that's medicine, dude, Yeah, so
- 42:08Speaker 2: you were taking medicine. But then he also says I
- 42:11Speaker 2: drank a hot whiskey with honey every day also, And
- 42:15Speaker 2: now this headline is man wins with whiskey and honey, like.
- 42:21Speaker 1: No, Wrussell's a coronavirus. Yeah, drunk and just fucking yeah,
- 42:26Speaker 1: smash it.
- 42:27Speaker 2: If you catch coronavirus, please do not just drink whiskey
- 42:30Speaker 2: and honey and hope it's going to go away.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I mean they don't even include the inhaler part in
- 42:34Speaker 1: the yeah, in the title.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Yeah that in that that seems important.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, the actual medicine he was taking in addition
- 42:43Speaker 1: to the whiskey and honey.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but what do I know.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I mean, the last time I drank whiskey, the next
- 42:47Speaker 1: day I got the flu. So you know, what do
- 42:50Speaker 1: we know?
- 42:50Speaker 2: I've never woken up from drinking whiskey feeling better, not
- 42:55Speaker 2: not in a million years. So in the last thing,
- 43:00Speaker 2: don't drink bleach please.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yeah. There is.
- 43:03Speaker 2: For at least a decade now, there has been this
- 43:06Speaker 2: drink called Miracle Mineral Solution that people have been promoting
- 43:11Speaker 2: on the internet as this cure all for pretty much
- 43:14Speaker 2: any disease, and.
- 43:16Speaker 1: It's the cure for life.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it will cure that if you drink enough
- 43:21Speaker 2: of it. It's a solution of twenty eight percent sodium
- 43:25Speaker 2: chlorite in distilled water. It sells for around twenty eight
- 43:29Speaker 2: dollars for a four ounce bottle, and it's basically diluted bleach,
- 43:34Speaker 2: and the FDA has on several occasions urged people not
- 43:39Speaker 2: to drink it. It can lead to things like severe vomiting, diarrhea,
- 43:46Speaker 2: severely low blood pressure, and acute liver failure.
- 43:50Speaker 1: The question if this is not even FDA approved, In fact,
- 43:53Speaker 1: the FDA saying don't drink this, is this still being
- 43:55Speaker 1: marketed as a drink.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still being marketed as a cure for all
- 44:01Speaker 2: of your diseases.
- 44:02Speaker 1: This is a legal thing available for consumers.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because it it doesn't they're not promoting it as
- 44:11Speaker 2: I mean, there's no illegal ingredients in it.
- 44:14Speaker 1: But just to market it as a drink.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Well, it's being marketed as a health supplement.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But if it's poisonous, it's to me, it's it's pretty
- 44:23Speaker 1: wild that it's out there, because I mean they're taking
- 44:26Speaker 1: like flavored vapes off the market, so well.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean cigarettes are still on the market. Yeah,
- 44:32Speaker 2: and those kill four hundred thousand people a year. Yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't I don't know exactly how much
- 44:41Speaker 2: leeway they have to intervene in a situation like that. Yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 2: I don't I didn't look into how this is marketed,
- 44:49Speaker 2: but it is. I know, you have to drink it.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I don't know if it's like energy shots or anything
- 44:56Speaker 2: like that, or if it has like a cute cartoon.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Masko get a side at the Wuhan cafe.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe I'll try it when I'm there. I'll bring
- 45:04Speaker 2: some with me to eat the Wuhan noodles. But this
- 45:08Speaker 2: stuff has been around for like ten years. And on
- 45:12Speaker 2: January twenty second, a Twitter user pointed out that coronavirus
- 45:17Speaker 2: is on a list of pathogens that can be killed
- 45:20Speaker 2: by chlorine dioxide, so a completely different substance. Yeah, but
- 45:24Speaker 2: people are like, oh, I bet that miracle mineral solution
- 45:27Speaker 2: will work.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You just see the buzzword coronavirus. Same thing with lysol
- 45:31Speaker 1: conspiracy theorists.
- 45:33Speaker 2: And with that, people started posting it on websites as
- 45:38Speaker 2: a potential cure for coronavirus. So just go to the
- 45:42Speaker 2: doctor if you get it, Like, I don't know what. Yeah,
- 45:46Speaker 2: Like this has to be marketed to people who are
- 45:50Speaker 2: afraid to go to the doctor or don't trust modern medicine.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Well, you're probably latching onto people who I mean, when
- 45:58Speaker 1: you're getting people in a friends that you're not in
- 45:59Speaker 1: the right state of mind, right, You're thinking from a
- 46:02Speaker 1: very fear based place, and if you if you sort
- 46:05Speaker 1: of spin out, you know, you might see that and
- 46:08Speaker 1: be like, oh fuck, I need to do this, like right,
- 46:10Speaker 1: because you're not feeling stable.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's the thing. They don't so much push
- 46:16Speaker 2: it as a thing that will cure your coronavirus. It's
- 46:21Speaker 2: just a thing you should drink to keep from catching
- 46:23Speaker 2: any number of diseases because they can all be killed
- 46:26Speaker 2: by this solution. But the thing is they can't be
- 46:28Speaker 2: like it doesn't work that way. You don't drink this,
- 46:32Speaker 2: and then it kills the coronavirus that's in your lungs.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Well, yeah, it kills your lungs. So it kills the
- 46:37Speaker 1: coronavirus that's living on your lung you.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Know, Like yeah, uh, I mean you know what also.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Would kill the coronavirus killing the host?
- 46:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that might be the best.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Let's just why is that bleach so diluted?
- 46:54Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, Drink real bleach. Pick it up, you know, yeah,
- 46:58Speaker 2: be like already laying you CANSI drink actual bleach. Uh,
- 47:03Speaker 2: but yeah, this is I mean, the reason this all
- 47:06Speaker 2: spreads is because Facebook and Twitter and I don't know
- 47:09Speaker 2: that we've had this kind of outbreak at a time
- 47:11Speaker 2: when social media is what it is now, yeah, which
- 47:14Speaker 2: is just like a factory for fake news. Yeah, so
- 47:17Speaker 2: it'll be really interesting if this catches on here, Like,
- 47:22Speaker 2: are there going to be like anti vaccer types who
- 47:24Speaker 2: are like, don't take the vaccine, it's just gonna make
- 47:27Speaker 2: things worse. And then what if a vaccine does make
- 47:29Speaker 2: things worse? Yeah, hopefully it doesn't come to that. But
- 47:34Speaker 2: you ever played Plague Incorporated? No, it's a phone game.
- 47:38Speaker 2: They've come out and said it's not an actual simulation
- 47:41Speaker 2: for how a virus spreads, and I understand that. But
- 47:44Speaker 2: it's a game where you play as a disease and
- 47:47Speaker 2: your job is to eradicate humanity. Okay, And as you
- 47:52Speaker 2: mutate as a virus, humanity starts fighting back, like they
- 47:56Speaker 2: start trying to create a cure, they start shutting things down. Yeah,
- 48:00Speaker 2: you have to keep mutating to overcome all of that.
- 48:03Speaker 2: And what I would suggest is download that game to
- 48:06Speaker 2: your phone, it's free, put it on difficult, and try
- 48:09Speaker 2: to infect the United States with your new virus. It's
- 48:13Speaker 2: very hard. I know it's not the exact same thing,
- 48:17Speaker 2: but it's hard in that game because it's hard in
- 48:20Speaker 2: real life to infect a country like the United States
- 48:25Speaker 2: on a wide scale with a disease like that. So
- 48:28Speaker 2: just keep that in the in your in your back
- 48:31Speaker 2: pocket next time you have the sniffles. Yeah, and you're
- 48:34Speaker 2: worried you might have coronavirus, you probably do, and it's
- 48:37Speaker 2: probably the kind that just gives you a cold. So
- 48:40Speaker 2: take it easy with the conspiracy theories.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just what if you have what's the point
- 48:46Speaker 1: of freaking out? Is that going to help you?
- 48:48Speaker 2: Yeah? I like that that, Like this conversation right now
- 48:52Speaker 2: is what they would play at the beginning of some
- 48:54Speaker 2: apocalypse movie where everyone's like, Yeah, what the fuck, nothing's
- 48:59Speaker 2: going on, and then cut to a year later. We're
- 49:02Speaker 2: still trying to record, but we're just a shell of ourselves.
- 49:06Speaker 2: No one's listening, there's no electricity, we're all dying.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Just it's well, also, it's just like free but the
- 49:13Speaker 1: thing is freaking out that lowers your immunity. Stress lowers
- 49:16Speaker 1: your immunity, and lowered immunities are you know, I think viruses.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Love yeah, love less troops to fight.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how you catch these viruses.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Relax, relax, baby, take it easy, chill.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Uh, but I think that's our episode.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean I feel better. So, I mean
- 49:38Speaker 1: whether I whatever virus I had, you know, I just
- 49:41Speaker 1: drank some whiskey. I took some inhaler shit too, but
- 49:45Speaker 1: whatever inhale bleach?
- 49:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you put bleach in an inhaler and take that in.
- 49:50Speaker 1: I think it was diluted, like, uh ninety percent bleach.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Yeah, ninety ten. You want to real lean bleach. Not
- 49:57Speaker 2: a lot of fat on.
- 49:58Speaker 1: That bleach CBD yeah, ten one.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Yeah, ten to one bleach CBD ratio. Guzzle whiskey just
- 50:07Speaker 2: for actually grain alcohol guzzle ever clear.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Go get some rubbing alcohol ninety two percent.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Yeah, drink rubbing alcohol like Kittie dococcus.
- 50:18Speaker 1: And I guarantee no virus will fuck with you. Right,
- 50:22Speaker 1: don't do it.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Don't don't do any of that.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Please don't do it.
