- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. To did you scare somebody? Scare someone on
- 0:18Speaker 1: the road they back? You think he's the guy? Yes, No,
- 0:24Speaker 1: it's a great question. I'm gonna say no. All right,
- 0:28Speaker 1: we have it on record. Mark, I don't think Max
- 0:31Speaker 1: that good. Letting things spiral out of control, and that's
- 0:34Speaker 1: what that's anathemas of the way they do things around here.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I was, I thought, what just don't please, don't celebrate,
- 0:42Speaker 1: just just take care of business. We're just gonna take
- 0:44Speaker 1: care of business today. No nonsense. We just just really
- 0:47Speaker 1: are the anti funt wishing everyone a happy New Year.
- 0:52Speaker 1: They really are there at least fun people I've ever
- 0:55Speaker 1: met in my life. It's unbelievable. The Patriots had their time.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's our time, right, that's you got your one. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: this is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right, Welcome
- 1:10Speaker 1: the Patriots Unfiltered. It's Thursday here at Child Stadium and uh,
- 1:15Speaker 1: we're preparing for the Jacksonville Jaguars to come and are
- 1:19Speaker 1: we They just keep putting people on that COVID list,
- 1:22Speaker 1: So I'm not sure if they're gonna be able to
- 1:23Speaker 1: field a team. I'm rooting for a forfeit at this point.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I think there two more starters this morning rooting for it.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I think twenty seven twenty seven total guys half the roster.
- 1:33Speaker 1: What are they doing? How are they going to put
- 1:35Speaker 1: a team out there? It's the week three colin Foxborough
- 1:38Speaker 1: High to come and workout. Yeah. So I mean, even
- 1:42Speaker 1: with the new entry rules, if you get put on
- 1:46Speaker 1: the list today, right, I don't even think that's enough
- 1:49Speaker 1: time because it's five days, right, I think? So, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: mean I have lost track the protocols. What are the rules?
- 1:57Speaker 1: What are the rules? I don't know. Yeah, and then
- 1:59Speaker 1: even then you still have to well I guess you.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You know, we were asking that question before, and I
- 2:05Speaker 1: was reading the memo and it said nothing about testing
- 2:08Speaker 1: negative to get back. It's as long as you're not
- 2:11Speaker 1: showing any symptoms after five days, you can come back. Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 1: did you read them? One thing to point out to
- 2:20Speaker 1: Matthew Chewdon is on the scheduled list of speakers for tomorrow,
- 2:23Speaker 1: So I don't know if that was inadvertent or what
- 2:26Speaker 1: but I mean that might be a good sign that
- 2:28Speaker 1: perhaps he will be back out there. Oh yeah, it's
- 2:30Speaker 1: all good. I'm feeling fine. That's pretty good. All right,
- 2:34Speaker 1: the COVID, that's pretty good from Jaguars. It's coming along.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You just can't move your lower lip right, your lower
- 2:42Speaker 1: job and you got it, your lower lip has to
- 2:44Speaker 1: kind of make a like a lower square, all right,
- 2:46Speaker 1: right right? Anyways, Yeah, so that's our COVID. There's our
- 2:50Speaker 1: COVID upbrade, Hey update. I feel like, do we need
- 2:54Speaker 1: a do we need a page on the website of
- 2:56Speaker 1: like the current COVID situation for every team that the
- 3:00Speaker 1: Patriots are about to play? It's crazy. I really do
- 3:03Speaker 1: wonder what they're gonna do. I mean, there's got to
- 3:05Speaker 1: be some kind of discussion of it. I know that
- 3:07Speaker 1: they said no, we're scheduling no, no, no for forting
- 3:09Speaker 1: any of that stuff. But at what point is there
- 3:12Speaker 1: just not enough guys for them to realistically feel the
- 3:14Speaker 1: team or I need to play a guy at in
- 3:16Speaker 1: a position he's never plays. I know it sounds crazy,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but I could see a scenario this week where the
- 3:23Speaker 1: coach of the Jaguars calls Belichick and says, Look, we'll
- 3:26Speaker 1: go out there, but you know you gotta take it
- 3:29Speaker 1: easy on us. Yeah, you know, here, let's treat it
- 3:32Speaker 1: like a preseason game. Do you need to work on
- 3:34Speaker 1: something will help you, you know, like a joint practice. Yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but can we borrow a couple of your players? But
- 3:40Speaker 1: like you know, we're just not going to be able
- 3:42Speaker 1: to put up a fight. Yeah, and it's really not
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's not really good for the Patriots either, Jack, if
- 3:48Speaker 1: it's some kind of weird game like that, Like I
- 3:51Speaker 1: feel like they need a game. It's good to get
- 3:53Speaker 1: on track and to play an actual football team. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: this is like scrimmage or right it? Can we play
- 3:58Speaker 1: seven on seven? Is that? Yeah? Because next next week's
- 4:01Speaker 1: gonna be a war? Do they even have enough for
- 4:03Speaker 1: seven on seven? I don't know, you know, tackles playing,
- 4:05Speaker 1: but I could see a conversation about you about not playing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You mean, I don't know that's that what you're saying,
- 4:11Speaker 1: like a fourth day? I mean, forfeit doesn't benefit anybody. No,
- 4:14Speaker 1: But how I mean they literally twenty seven guys are
- 4:18Speaker 1: on their COVID list. Twenty seven. How are you gonna
- 4:21Speaker 1: how are you gonna feel to come any sort of
- 4:22Speaker 1: competitive to a more Browns and Titans missing in their games?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Were they really not really come on looking for who
- 4:30Speaker 1: said that? I was looking someone said something about the
- 4:32Speaker 1: Browns if you add it up, maybe but one team
- 4:36Speaker 1: twenty seven? No, I mean this is COVID too. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: was being that was snark ultras a great white snark. Right. Yes,
- 4:43Speaker 1: those were injuries. That's there's difference between injuries and COVID.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But it's not it's not good. I mean Fursday, no, not,
- 4:52Speaker 1: what point do they have to make some kind of decision? Mean, no,
- 4:55Speaker 1: one's really talking about it right now, which seems like
- 4:56Speaker 1: he's day the Jags get like three more guys, three
- 4:59Speaker 1: more guys. I guess is like the was it thirteen
- 5:02Speaker 1: on Monday or something like that. My guess is they're
- 5:05Speaker 1: anticipating those guys playing, That would be my guess. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: that's why it hasn't really been anything. Suiting up playing
- 5:12Speaker 1: is another thing. Yeah, But I mean even Kendrick Borne
- 5:14Speaker 1: talking earlier about his week last week of preparing virtually
- 5:18Speaker 1: and you know, being able to run, being able to
- 5:21Speaker 1: run a little bit after after he said his symptoms
- 5:23Speaker 1: kind of passed. I mean, so he did have some symptoms. Yeah, nothing,
- 5:26Speaker 1: he didn't say anything major. Is nothing major, But it
- 5:29Speaker 1: didn't sound like he had some some Wasn't it reported
- 5:32Speaker 1: that way? It wasn't. This is what and this is
- 5:34Speaker 1: fred and I's point. No, it was like the day
- 5:37Speaker 1: that Kendrick Bourne was put on COVID. Yeah, thirty two
- 5:41Speaker 1: seconds later, seventeen Patriots reporters told me he was asymptomatic. Right,
- 5:45Speaker 1: my wronggram you're right, right, yeah, yeah, oh once I
- 5:49Speaker 1: was feeling better, asymptomatic loosely defined. Right, This is why
- 5:54Speaker 1: I think it's we did and this is not a
- 5:55Speaker 1: shot of Kendrick Bourne. Kendrick Bourne did exactly what I
- 5:57Speaker 1: would do in Kendrick Bourne, spot right, do everything I
- 6:00Speaker 1: can to play in the game. That's what I would
- 6:01Speaker 1: do too. But this is an NFL thing. Yeah, Like basically,
- 6:07Speaker 1: you're leaving it up to people to tell you what
- 6:09Speaker 1: what's right and what's wrong. I like, and what's going
- 6:11Speaker 1: to happen more often than not. That's right. You got
- 6:15Speaker 1: a mess on your hands. They had a map on
- 6:16Speaker 1: the news last night of like, you know, the high
- 6:19Speaker 1: infected states. The entire United States was read, Yeah, the
- 6:23Speaker 1: entire United States. Yeah, it feels like this is COVID,
- 6:27Speaker 1: Like this is now the reality I told and I
- 6:29Speaker 1: told you the thing, you know, like people want to
- 6:31Speaker 1: make this out to be such a big deal, like
- 6:32Speaker 1: the vaxed unvaxed, And I told you the stats. There's
- 6:35Speaker 1: something like eighty seven vents in mass General Hospital. Eighty
- 6:40Speaker 1: six of them are right now to occupied by unvaccinated. Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And there's one guy who quote had so many other
- 6:50Speaker 1: things wrong with them that COVID's the least of his worries,
- 6:52Speaker 1: right right, that's the one that's vaccinated. Yeah. I mean
- 6:57Speaker 1: I think you know you can. You can make arguments
- 6:59Speaker 1: all you want. Everybody has their own personal choices to make,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and I respect personal choices, I really do. But it's like,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I don't know why you wouldn't try to do everything
- 7:08Speaker 1: you can to protect yourself. Right, Well, anyway, even if
- 7:12Speaker 1: it doesn't work, getting booster tomorrow. So yesterday, good for you.
- 7:16Speaker 1: How you feel fine? Guys? Yeah, you are right, gay, guys.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I told you. It's the only thing I can tell
- 7:24Speaker 1: you is my arm is sore. It hurts my own Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 1: What what what time do you get it? Afternoon? I
- 7:30Speaker 1: got it about five? Yeah, yeah, and we'll see how
- 7:34Speaker 1: end of show Paul is doing. Yeah, yeah, you get
- 7:37Speaker 1: any beers because I'm ready to go for tomorrow. Now
- 7:40Speaker 1: we're gonna go drink good timing, all right. Eight five
- 7:44Speaker 1: five past five hundred is the ACE ticket hot line.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Web radio at Patriots dot Com is the email address.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Um are we done with the John Madden? I think? So?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Anything anything left over from that? Some some nice mentions
- 7:57Speaker 1: yesterday from High Tower. I like to up sad to say,
- 8:00Speaker 1: just you know, how many how motivating it was for
- 8:04Speaker 1: players as kids to you know, want to grow up
- 8:06Speaker 1: and see themselves in the game. And for him, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: it was cool to be able to do that, and um,
- 8:11Speaker 1: High Tower, same thing. You know a lot of those
- 8:12Speaker 1: guys grow up playing Madden and everybody does you know?
- 8:14Speaker 1: It's well, just one leftover, you know, because we were
- 8:18Speaker 1: talking about him, and it's going to be a shot. No, no, no, no.
- 8:20Speaker 1: We were talking about like should they rename something for
- 8:23Speaker 1: John Madden? And I heard someone suggests renaming the Canton
- 8:27Speaker 1: Hall of Fame to the John Madden Pro Football Hall
- 8:30Speaker 1: of Fame. What do you think about that? I don't know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I don't I don't really have much feeling either way. Yeah, sure,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I liked it he as the video game and that
- 8:40Speaker 1: that that's pretty popular. Yeah, I mean that is. I
- 8:42Speaker 1: mean he does already have something named after ye good point. Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I just thought, oh, that's different. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: hadn't thought of that. Yeah. I just like, like, rather
- 8:51Speaker 1: there's something new rather than renaming something that exists. I
- 8:54Speaker 1: just like the way the players talk, like, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: their reverence from Madden is because I want to get
- 9:00Speaker 1: in the game, which kind of didn't really have anything Madden, right, Like,
- 9:04Speaker 1: there's so many things that. Yeah, I wonder like if
- 9:07Speaker 1: he looked at that in a little bitter sweet kind
- 9:10Speaker 1: of way, like this is great coach who was an innovative,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you know, broadcaster, and you know, this whole generation knows
- 9:18Speaker 1: him as the guy whose name is on a video game. Yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 1: but which I'm sure that he finds well down the
- 9:25Speaker 1: list of his accomplishment hope. So Yeah. But I think
- 9:28Speaker 1: also too though it's synonymous with football now, and that
- 9:30Speaker 1: I think for that that you're you're getting kids like
- 9:33Speaker 1: my nine year old who Madden didn't really even know
- 9:35Speaker 1: what it was at first, And I think it's just
- 9:38Speaker 1: like any you know, analogies you can draw from other
- 9:42Speaker 1: people's careers, you know how they had like different careers
- 9:46Speaker 1: like that, Like like Lombardi he was a coach and
- 9:50Speaker 1: then they named the trophy after him, but that he
- 9:52Speaker 1: was dead when they did that, you know what I mean,
- 9:54Speaker 1: And I think that's kind of why. Yeah, he died.
- 9:57Speaker 1: He died fairly young, right, you know, so that was
- 10:00Speaker 1: kind of why. Like I'm wondering if there's other examples
- 10:02Speaker 1: of people that kind of reinvented themselves. How about Bob
- 10:08Speaker 1: what was he baseball? Pro baseball player and then he
- 10:11Speaker 1: became an actor and it's like comic actor whatever, you know, Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: two different like career. I mean, had he not killed people,
- 10:18Speaker 1: O J. Simpson might be one of those. Yeah, you know,
- 10:20Speaker 1: make a gun. Kareem abdul Jabar a little bit. He
- 10:23Speaker 1: was a little bit. He had some some different things
- 10:25Speaker 1: that he did. I mean, there's a lot of going
- 10:26Speaker 1: into broadcasting and acting. Kareem was involved in a lot
- 10:29Speaker 1: of like you know, activist kind of stuff. He's very political.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But I don't know if that's what you're no, but
- 10:36Speaker 1: people don't know him that way, you know, like, yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 1: like they still Madden kind of reinvented him. You know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: it wasn't like he was a broadcaster who was a coach.
- 10:44Speaker 1: He was a broadcaster, you know what I mean. It's
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's like he became that well you know what, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the understood. You know, we can talk about this a
- 10:51Speaker 1: little bit. But like I've always found fascinating all of
- 10:54Speaker 1: the former football players slash coaches that get into broadcasting.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They're all color analysts' right, Tony Romo, it's a quarterback.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Troy Aikman was a quarterback. John Madden was a coach.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Pat Smell is one of the great play by play
- 11:08Speaker 1: voices ever, and he was he was a player. That's
- 11:11Speaker 1: a good one kicker. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, calling
- 11:15Speaker 1: him a kicker is disrespectful to Pat Summer. He kicked
- 11:19Speaker 1: because he was the best at kicking. He did other
- 11:21Speaker 1: things too. Back back at that day, it wasn't like
- 11:24Speaker 1: you adding fifteen yards to yours by snack. It was
- 11:27Speaker 1: the other way around, you, moron. It was tracing anyway. Um. Yeah, So,
- 11:34Speaker 1: but that's a good question. I mean, there's obviously such
- 11:36Speaker 1: a large number of coaches that have gone on to
- 11:39Speaker 1: B and TV and color analysts. Just I'm trying to
- 11:41Speaker 1: rack my brain for guys that did something different and
- 11:44Speaker 1: really outside of that kind of Ted Williams, you know
- 11:49Speaker 1: he was like a cracker Jack air Force pilot. I
- 11:53Speaker 1: mean really good. He was. Oh he was, I mean
- 11:55Speaker 1: he was a star. I mean he was a hero
- 11:57Speaker 1: hero right, baseball playoff sleep and then he kind of
- 12:01Speaker 1: reinvented himself as he was a spokesman for the fishing.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You know, he used to fish with my grandfather. Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh really, wow, Please tell I know that he had
- 12:12Speaker 1: a twenty eight to three shirts. I don't know that
- 12:15Speaker 1: his grandfather used to They all used Shakespeare rods. Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Ted william So, my grandfather was a longtime track coach
- 12:22Speaker 1: at Tufts Um from from the early thirties all the
- 12:25Speaker 1: way until he died in the early seventies, and he
- 12:28Speaker 1: developed a friendship with Ted Williams. There's um, there's some
- 12:31Speaker 1: interesting newspaper articles that I've dug up that it's my grandfather.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I never met him. He died before I was born,
- 12:36Speaker 1: Clarence ding Do So the track of Tufts is named
- 12:38Speaker 1: after him. But they used to go him and Ted
- 12:40Speaker 1: would go up to up to New Brunswick where my
- 12:43Speaker 1: grandfather did all the summers and Um, they would fish together,
- 12:46Speaker 1: fly fishing. And this is a crazy story. Um, John
- 12:50Speaker 1: Henry do so Williams. They named his middle name is
- 12:54Speaker 1: after my grandfather. Kind of a weird story how it happened.
- 12:57Speaker 1: When I was at Vermont Academy. My dad called me.
- 13:00Speaker 1: He's like, hey, I'm gonna come pick you up. It
- 13:02Speaker 1: was like a vacation. There's something. He'd come in to
- 13:03Speaker 1: your mom. We gotta stop somewhere and like, all right,
- 13:05Speaker 1: what do we do? And he's like, well, we're gonna
- 13:07Speaker 1: we're gonna see this woman, Like okay, like a very
- 13:09Speaker 1: bizarre We're in the middle of her Mont. We drive
- 13:12Speaker 1: up to like this cabin and it was John it
- 13:15Speaker 1: was It was Ted Williams ex wife who we had
- 13:17Speaker 1: had John Henry with, very eccentric woman. She was older,
- 13:20Speaker 1: she's since passed away. She like she looked like an
- 13:23Speaker 1: old model. She looked like at one point this one, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: woman was beautiful. Spoke about my grandfather. Was such reverence
- 13:30Speaker 1: because I think that there was some question whether or
- 13:32Speaker 1: not they were going to keep John Henry when when
- 13:35Speaker 1: she first became pregnant with him, Andy's father's head and
- 13:38Speaker 1: not by that point, my grandfather was like in his
- 13:41Speaker 1: mid fiftieth but um, but she but she said, your
- 13:45Speaker 1: grandfather was kind of the one that talked head into it.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And then the weirdest part was she took me over
- 13:49Speaker 1: to her sink and there's like four rocks sitting there
- 13:52Speaker 1: and she's like, do you see these rocks. I'm like yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 1: She's like, your grandfather gave me these rocks and if
- 13:57Speaker 1: you'll notice, they're Indian rocks and they and I'm like,
- 13:59Speaker 1: look at the rocks. I'm like really, like, you know,
- 14:02Speaker 1: they just look like polished rocks, like you would never
- 14:03Speaker 1: think there were anything. Um. So she was eccentric, but
- 14:07Speaker 1: it was a bizarre story that I never knew. But
- 14:08Speaker 1: we have a lot of pictures of my grandfather with
- 14:10Speaker 1: Ted and wow, it's a random, random Boston sports thing.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's that's pretty cool. Yeah, it's it's one of the
- 14:16Speaker 1: cooler at academy. Graduated in eighty six. Who's that John Henry?
- 14:20Speaker 1: John Henry? Yeah, yeah, So I don't know if it's
- 14:22Speaker 1: mentioned anywhere that I mean, and I don't even know
- 14:24Speaker 1: it's officially her name, but I mean his middle name
- 14:27Speaker 1: is actually do So. But when I'm at her and
- 14:29Speaker 1: she said, you know, we didn't. We didn't know when
- 14:31Speaker 1: your grandfather was the Onelas Dolors. Yeah, that was her, Wow, solaurs. Yeah. So,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and then there's also there's another cool article I found.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You go to newspapers dot com, you can do a
- 14:41Speaker 1: lot of searching. I found one that's like, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Douso teaches the Red Sox how to run. So my
- 14:46Speaker 1: grandfather went down to Florida and was talking to them
- 14:49Speaker 1: about like speed and stuff. So yeah, it's it's he's
- 14:52Speaker 1: he's got a he's got a whole story. I've got
- 14:53Speaker 1: his whole all this. I gotta feel there's a lot
- 14:55Speaker 1: of stories that deuces and telling. I'm getting through them
- 14:58Speaker 1: slowly but surely. But that's one of the better ones. Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 1: The other quick one, I'll tell abottom as if we
- 15:03Speaker 1: have a second. He also he dated an actress, one
- 15:09Speaker 1: of the first actresses, named Marilyn Miller, who was in
- 15:12Speaker 1: the Zigfield Follies and was one of the early stars
- 15:15Speaker 1: of films when films were more like we don't really know,
- 15:18Speaker 1: we don't have a sound yet, so they just kind
- 15:19Speaker 1: of sing. It'd be almost like a musical on stage.
- 15:21Speaker 1: So she was one of the first stars. Yeah, Marilyn Miller,
- 15:25Speaker 1: who actually Marilyn Monroe when she became an actress from
- 15:28Speaker 1: normal Gene took Marylyn because of Marilyn Miller. So going
- 15:31Speaker 1: through my grandfather's scrapbook, there's a picture of her just
- 15:34Speaker 1: like posing in the backyard, like you clicked it. And
- 15:37Speaker 1: then he had another ad that while he was at
- 15:39Speaker 1: tough coaching track, he was a school just a middle
- 15:42Speaker 1: school gym teacher in Stoughton. And so there's an article
- 15:44Speaker 1: from like nineteen thirty one in his scrapbook of like
- 15:47Speaker 1: Hollywood film star visits local teacher and so it talks
- 15:51Speaker 1: about Marilyn Miller coming to Stoughton, drop it into film
- 15:54Speaker 1: play into some theaters in Brockton, and you know, so
- 15:57Speaker 1: he had cut it out, had like a picture of her,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you know. So it's like one of those kind of
- 15:59Speaker 1: weird things of my grandmother. But he dated this like
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know, famous film actress. I don't know how they
- 16:05Speaker 1: met or what they were friends from his georgetown. So
- 16:07Speaker 1: like the moral of those stories, you're kind of a
- 16:09Speaker 1: disappointment a family. I compared to him now, I mean
- 16:15Speaker 1: he did he did a lot of yeah, right, that
- 16:19Speaker 1: was my highlight. But he was a real good, real
- 16:22Speaker 1: good track runner. For a he was at Georgetown, he
- 16:24Speaker 1: was part of the two mile relay. He used to
- 16:26Speaker 1: run the final leg. A lot of stories in the
- 16:28Speaker 1: scrap book about his races and coming down to the
- 16:30Speaker 1: end and now he would always just kind of tough
- 16:32Speaker 1: it out. So, I mean, it was so cool when
- 16:33Speaker 1: I got the scrap books, I was able to go
- 16:35Speaker 1: through it. Do you have, like any of his fly
- 16:37Speaker 1: fishing gear? Do you have any? I'm not sure where
- 16:40Speaker 1: LODs are. My dad did have his rods for a while.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think my aunt has them now after my grandmother
- 16:46Speaker 1: died in the mid nineties, but I have it, like
- 16:48Speaker 1: I have a lot of his like little keepsticks like
- 16:50Speaker 1: he's ring. And are there any like members of the
- 16:52Speaker 1: Ted Williams family that you guys are in touch or
- 16:54Speaker 1: are there anymore now? I mean John Henry died, she died,
- 16:58Speaker 1: Ted died. I mean I never um. You know, there's
- 17:01Speaker 1: one picture that my cousin got that's like my grandfather
- 17:03Speaker 1: and Ted like arm around each other up in Canada
- 17:06Speaker 1: with like fishing rods. It's the really cool picture. So
- 17:08Speaker 1: he's got that one. I should ask him to take
- 17:10Speaker 1: a picture of it for me. Yeah. So getting back
- 17:12Speaker 1: to what we were talking about, is one of those
- 17:15Speaker 1: guys that whatever he did, he did it excellently, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 1: to a level of excellence. Yeah. Um, he was just
- 17:22Speaker 1: that kind of guy. And I thought it was interesting
- 17:24Speaker 1: when Robert Kraft hired Bill Belichick. One of the first
- 17:29Speaker 1: things Bill did is he gave Robert a frame picture
- 17:32Speaker 1: of Ted Williams at Babe Ruth, signed by both of them.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty cool. That is cool. You know,
- 17:38Speaker 1: I wish I hadn't autograd the least thing I could
- 17:40Speaker 1: get out of the whole seat rate. But yeah, he
- 17:42Speaker 1: was Well. I got a feeling we got some good
- 17:44Speaker 1: offseason stories to talk about this year. Bring some. I'll
- 17:48Speaker 1: bring some stuff like stories. Yeah, old school Boston sports.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah no, that's that's great. Right. What else? What were
- 17:55Speaker 1: we talking? Oh yeah, so so COVID, But we were
- 17:59Speaker 1: just talking about other people besides John Madden basically reinvented
- 18:04Speaker 1: themselves and did whatever they did well. You know, I
- 18:08Speaker 1: mean I was gonna I was thinking about John Gruden
- 18:10Speaker 1: a little bit. I know that too took a hard turn, um,
- 18:13Speaker 1: but you know, the work he kind of did with
- 18:15Speaker 1: the quarterback rooms and interviewing prospects, and when he was
- 18:18Speaker 1: kind of in that in between period, he kind of
- 18:20Speaker 1: kind of started to carve out a little bit of
- 18:21Speaker 1: a niche I think in terms of broadcasting, and I mean,
- 18:24Speaker 1: who knows a full heresy from him? Again? But who else?
- 18:28Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, tough question, all right, I don't
- 18:32Speaker 1: know if Paul Paul's just he has no no time
- 18:35Speaker 1: for any of this. He's just why I looked so disgusted.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I'm not disgusted. I found the Ted Williams thing is fascinating, Okay,
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm a little disappointed that I'm just finding out about
- 18:44Speaker 1: it now. Three years I told you I didn't mention that.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I thought I told you that. I didn't even know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: like the fact that your grandfather's the track at Toughs
- 18:55Speaker 1: his named after that, I think, yeah, I told that,
- 19:00Speaker 1: told me that. Does Maz know that? I don't know
- 19:03Speaker 1: if nineteen eighty nine I got the mug still the
- 19:05Speaker 1: dedication of the Clarence ding dou So tracks. So can
- 19:08Speaker 1: you show up there and like, yeah, you know who
- 19:10Speaker 1: I am? I should? I should? And you just run
- 19:12Speaker 1: there anytime I'm gonna do so. Yeah, No, he he
- 19:16Speaker 1: was there forever had a lot of a lot of
- 19:18Speaker 1: success there one. I mean he won a ton ton
- 19:20Speaker 1: Like his all time record was crazy and yeah he
- 19:22Speaker 1: just I mean he did it from nineteen thirty to
- 19:26Speaker 1: all the way to until he died in like seventy
- 19:28Speaker 1: one or seventy two, Tony writes in stay tuned next
- 19:31Speaker 1: week for another exciting episode of This Is Your Life. Yeah, well,
- 19:37Speaker 1: it's hard to come up with anything for this game
- 19:40Speaker 1: even if everybody was playing for Jacksonville, let alone all
- 19:44Speaker 1: the uncertainty around it. Yeah, so might apologize for not
- 19:47Speaker 1: having you know, right, you know, the key to this
- 19:49Speaker 1: game is shut down. They gotta they gotta control Josh Allen.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Wait that was last week. No, this is a different
- 19:54Speaker 1: Josh Allen. I don't know if he's playing. This is
- 19:57Speaker 1: as this is almost worse than a preseason game. I
- 20:00Speaker 1: think the key to this game is for the Patriots
- 20:02Speaker 1: to stay healthy. Yeah, and that's exactly what I was
- 20:04Speaker 1: thinking on the walk down here, being like, watch this
- 20:06Speaker 1: be the game where you just have to hammer all
- 20:07Speaker 1: their backups and then like you just get one key
- 20:09Speaker 1: injury that screws you from Miami in the playoffs, Like
- 20:12Speaker 1: that would be the uh Yeah. The bigger thing to
- 20:14Speaker 1: me this weekend is what happens with the Raiders and
- 20:16Speaker 1: the Dolphins. Does one of those teams lose take the
- 20:19Speaker 1: pressure off the last week? Yeah, one eye on those throws.
- 20:21Speaker 1: But or does Atlanta knock off Buffalo? Yeah? Again, like
- 20:25Speaker 1: get you back into the division. I usually don't play
- 20:27Speaker 1: this game, but I'm in the mindset now where I
- 20:30Speaker 1: want that challenge of the last week. I wanted to
- 20:32Speaker 1: meet something. I want Miami to because I want to
- 20:35Speaker 1: get prepped for the playoffs. I don't think right now
- 20:38Speaker 1: they're ready. If you lose, then you don't deserve to
- 20:42Speaker 1: be there. That's my point, you know. Let's I want
- 20:45Speaker 1: to be ready. I want to metal sharpened metal. Something
- 20:49Speaker 1: tells me that you won't be losing. And they you know,
- 20:52Speaker 1: they lose out on a playoff spot by a tiebreaker,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you'll be like, I'll be like, they didn't deserve it. No,
- 20:59Speaker 1: they didn't deserve it. You know. If that's the case,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I do think I don't want to go limping into
- 21:03Speaker 1: the playoffs. I get what you're saying, and I think, um,
- 21:08Speaker 1: it is kind of going to that eighth team. Though
- 21:10Speaker 1: you look at it like in the AFC especially, there's
- 21:15Speaker 1: probably going to be a decent team left out, you know,
- 21:17Speaker 1: maybe a couple. And I think they're gonna look at
- 21:20Speaker 1: this and like this is two years now. Yeah, like
- 21:23Speaker 1: just make it because I think it's not too long
- 21:25Speaker 1: ago where we're like, I can't believe, you know, an
- 21:29Speaker 1: eight and eight or you know, a seven and nine
- 21:31Speaker 1: team has a chance to make the playoffs. You know
- 21:34Speaker 1: we can. That wasn't too long we were complaining that.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's why teams were getting in, right, That's why it's
- 21:39Speaker 1: it's done like this. They did it the seventeenth game.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So it's not an eight and eight team anymore. It's
- 21:43Speaker 1: a nine and eight team, right, And and they add
- 21:45Speaker 1: the playoff team. Yeah. I just don't know. There could
- 21:48Speaker 1: be like an eight and nineteen the NFC that I
- 21:50Speaker 1: don't want to put too much on that Miami game,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and obviously the playoff game would mean more than that,
- 21:55Speaker 1: But I also think that, like, as much as a
- 21:58Speaker 1: playoff game will be great and a bron I still
- 22:00Speaker 1: think that somewhat the Miami game might be kind of
- 22:03Speaker 1: the barometer for me of this season of you know,
- 22:06Speaker 1: do you finish in third place? Do you beat a
- 22:08Speaker 1: team that is playing well and knows you're pretty well,
- 22:11Speaker 1: and do you kind of correct what happened in week
- 22:13Speaker 1: one or do you go down there and you kind
- 22:15Speaker 1: of feel like, yeah, we made the playoffs, but I
- 22:18Speaker 1: don't know how much we progress. You really made it.
- 22:20Speaker 1: It's kind of a similar end to the same last
- 22:22Speaker 1: couple of years. So that's what, like I said, A
- 22:24Speaker 1: huge game. That's why I want that game to mean something.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Yeah for both teams. Yeah, I mean I think it
- 22:29Speaker 1: will definitely mean something for Miami. Um, I'm not so
- 22:32Speaker 1: sure that you think they're gonna be Tennessee Wow. But
- 22:36Speaker 1: can they lose the Tennessee and they're out, well, they
- 22:39Speaker 1: would need a Patriots lost to Jacksonville. Well, I mean
- 22:43Speaker 1: they're saying the same thing in Miami. They need to
- 22:45Speaker 1: see what their team is because, let's face it, they
- 22:47Speaker 1: were the beneficiary of a schedule the same way the Patriots. Absolutely,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you know, so why do you think they won? Seven?
- 22:53Speaker 1: In a room? So their fans want to see how
- 22:56Speaker 1: good are we really? So let's beat Tennessee. They're a
- 22:59Speaker 1: good team. We're a good team. Let's see if we
- 23:01Speaker 1: can beat them. We think we're a good team. Let's
- 23:03Speaker 1: see if if they can win that game, then the
- 23:06Speaker 1: last game means a lot for Miami. They can win
- 23:08Speaker 1: and be in, but I think they have to win both.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't think nine and eight's getting you a wild card. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: so that would be interesting. Then if the if the Raiders,
- 23:17Speaker 1: uh you know, were to lose to Indie and the
- 23:19Speaker 1: Patriots win, they're in Miami wins, so they need to win.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Patriots don't really need to win, but it's about seating, right,
- 23:25Speaker 1: You get interesting stuff there. But I think that Miami
- 23:28Speaker 1: game there's I hope it means something because you know,
- 23:31Speaker 1: and then it's hard to read into it. Well, yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: well the Patriots are probably gonna arrest their starters. They
- 23:35Speaker 1: don't care. Yeah, they'd rather go to the fifth seeds
- 23:38Speaker 1: team than the third team. So I find it funny
- 23:40Speaker 1: that you feel that way because it sort of goes again.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I don't think you're wrong. I just think it goes
- 23:45Speaker 1: against what you normally say. Like when we talk about
- 23:48Speaker 1: who you worried about, and they say anybody, You're like,
- 23:52Speaker 1: who cares? Like, like what the path is? I don't
- 23:54Speaker 1: care who they play? But yet now you don't want
- 23:57Speaker 1: to just make the playoffs. You want to have to
- 23:59Speaker 1: play tough team and prove your medal to get to
- 24:02Speaker 1: the playoffs. Well, yeah, to me, that's different. You know.
- 24:05Speaker 1: It's like I don't care who we end up playing.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I just want to be ready. Yeah, you know, I
- 24:10Speaker 1: don't feel like they're ready right now. Their mind's not
- 24:13Speaker 1: ready that I need to get their mind ready. And
- 24:15Speaker 1: I just think the team that they are, it's not
- 24:17Speaker 1: really It's like it's not really gonna matter who they play,
- 24:20Speaker 1: Like they have to play good and if they don't,
- 24:22Speaker 1: then it doesn't matter. They're gonna live. And who knows
- 24:24Speaker 1: what gets you ready? Like in twenty eighteen, I would
- 24:28Speaker 1: have scoffed at that, like you beat the Bills and
- 24:30Speaker 1: the Jets like this, that doesn't get you ready. But
- 24:33Speaker 1: it got them ready. They ended up playing their best
- 24:35Speaker 1: football of the entire year in the playoffs. Yep, all right,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna head up. All right, Duce is going to
- 24:41Speaker 1: practice a little misty out there? Yeah, better cover up.
- 24:45Speaker 1: It's continuing when miserable weather. Yeah, temperature went down a
- 24:49Speaker 1: little thirty seven degrees? Dude, is that all you have
- 24:52Speaker 1: as a little wind breaker? Yeah? Okay, all right, well
- 24:55Speaker 1: all right, yeah, don't come in here sniffling and coffin
- 24:58Speaker 1: and weezing. All right, I don't want you to catch
- 25:02Speaker 1: a chill. Ye got his little track win breaker, Yeah, Sunday.
- 25:08Speaker 1: By the way, if there is a game cloudy in
- 25:11Speaker 1: fifties right now, in fifties, yeah, I like the sound
- 25:14Speaker 1: of that. That's that's bombing. Yeah, unseasonably? When will likely
- 25:18Speaker 1: be our last home game? Yeah? Of the season? Likely?
- 25:21Speaker 1: I upsets, right, I don't know. If Atlanta beats Buffalo,
- 25:24Speaker 1: you're back in play, right, Yeah, we're back, baby. But
- 25:29Speaker 1: even if you get in as like the sixth seed
- 25:31Speaker 1: or whatever, if there's upsets in front of you, there's
- 25:34Speaker 1: a slight chance you could get a home game. Yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 1: very slight. Yeah, yeah, that ain't happening. But um, I
- 25:41Speaker 1: just had something on my mind that I was gonna say, Oh,
- 25:43Speaker 1: did you happen to see that. Roethlisberger actually, for the
- 25:46Speaker 1: first time publicly made a mention of this being it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Oh no, he said he said this. I don't know
- 25:52Speaker 1: exactly what the quote is, but I think he said
- 25:55Speaker 1: it more than likely will be his final game in Hinesfield.
- 25:57Speaker 1: They played Monday night at Pittsburgh. Huh, And I know
- 26:00Speaker 1: that that's been out there. It's not new news, but
- 26:03Speaker 1: I think this is the first time he is publicly acknowledged.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So he's not saying he's retiring. He just doesn't think
- 26:07Speaker 1: he's thinks it. Yeah, okay, but the way you think,
- 26:13Speaker 1: I think he kind of left the door open. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 1: Like I think if you look back from the second
- 26:16Speaker 1: half of last year, um and then this year, I
- 26:20Speaker 1: think for the most part he has been really struggling. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's time. I mean, I
- 26:26Speaker 1: think he could have another two or three years as
- 26:28Speaker 1: a backup if he was willing to do that somewhere. Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 1: but why would you why would you want to do
- 26:32Speaker 1: the money? Come on, I don't know, my guy, I
- 26:36Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe maybe you want to go into coaching
- 26:39Speaker 1: and as a backup quarterback you could kind of start
- 26:42Speaker 1: prepping for that, you know. I think they would just
- 26:44Speaker 1: take him as a coach if he wanted to do
- 26:46Speaker 1: right right then and there. But yeah, we'll see see
- 26:49Speaker 1: if he ends up following through with it. I hope
- 26:52Speaker 1: he does, because I don't like, Yeah, guys that I
- 26:54Speaker 1: think of pretty good players and they hang on and yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: like he's not a pretty good player. Anymore. He's not that.
- 27:01Speaker 1: He's not good anymore. They're not good anymore. All right,
- 27:05Speaker 1: five hundred is a stick and hotline web radio at
- 27:09Speaker 1: Patriots dot Com. Let's turn it over to our listeners.
- 27:11Speaker 1: We got picks later, so we got a hurry. Dustin's
- 27:15Speaker 1: in Ontario. What's up Dustin? Hey, guys. Good to be
- 27:19Speaker 1: able to call into PEU for a change. Usually I'm
- 27:22Speaker 1: falling into either the pre or postgame show. I hope
- 27:25Speaker 1: everyone's having a good day so far. Yeah, good, good. Now.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I had a bit of a question that's been going
- 27:34Speaker 1: through my head for a little while now in regards
- 27:36Speaker 1: to the officiating, and I floated it out there on
- 27:39Speaker 1: a Facebook group that I follow. In hindsight, it was
- 27:43Speaker 1: kind of a dumb question thinking about it now, but
- 27:45Speaker 1: I still wanted to get your eyes opinion on it anyway.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So I noticed that when a player or a coach
- 27:53Speaker 1: gets fined or suspended or reprimanded in some sort of way,
- 27:57Speaker 1: usually their name is plastered all over the NFL website,
- 28:00Speaker 1: or at least somewhere on there. You can see it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Um with the officials. That's not the case, So I
- 28:06Speaker 1: was wondering if that were the case with the officials
- 28:10Speaker 1: if they get fined or suspended for too many missed
- 28:12Speaker 1: calls or it would be plastered. It would be plastered
- 28:16Speaker 1: all over the place. If an NFL official gets suspended,
- 28:19Speaker 1: you'd know about the thing. But they would never do
- 28:21Speaker 1: that for it make them a little more careful about
- 28:24Speaker 1: what calls are made and what calls aren't made. No,
- 28:27Speaker 1: I think they go into every game trying the best
- 28:29Speaker 1: they can to make the proper calls. Yeah, and if
- 28:31Speaker 1: and if an NFL official was so bad that he
- 28:33Speaker 1: got suspended, yeah, you'd here know about it. They do
- 28:36Speaker 1: have like a weekly oh yeah, get graded like a
- 28:39Speaker 1: like a post mortem, and they go over and they
- 28:41Speaker 1: do get graded on how they did in each game.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So it's not like there's no accountability, yeah at all.
- 28:47Speaker 1: But is it is it? Like is it posted somewhere
- 28:50Speaker 1: where like the players? And then I don't think so.
- 28:54Speaker 1: But what you do find out is like the guys
- 28:57Speaker 1: who have the highest grades, I should say pepe, because
- 29:00Speaker 1: there are some women who are in there now as well. Right,
- 29:02Speaker 1: the ones with the highest grades are the ones who
- 29:05Speaker 1: get picked for playoff and Super Bowl assignments, which I
- 29:07Speaker 1: don't agree with. You don't agree I believe that you
- 29:11Speaker 1: should stay as a group. I agree. So your group
- 29:13Speaker 1: should have a total grade and the groups that do
- 29:16Speaker 1: the best should go playoff. Nobody wins unless the team
- 29:21Speaker 1: right team, right team, Now I agree with. Actually, I
- 29:25Speaker 1: floated that same question out there on Facebook, and I
- 29:28Speaker 1: get a comment from another gentleman saying that, you know,
- 29:31Speaker 1: if a referee were to make a call that decided
- 29:34Speaker 1: an important game, like, um, I think there was one
- 29:37Speaker 1: that decided one against Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Rons
- 29:41Speaker 1: and in the same playoffs, Ye, there may be an
- 29:45Speaker 1: increase in death threats to said official because his name
- 29:49Speaker 1: and you know picture would be posted on a on
- 29:53Speaker 1: the NFL website or whatever if they did that. So
- 29:56Speaker 1: that could be seen as kind of a bad idea
- 29:58Speaker 1: to make it u public that an official got fined
- 30:02Speaker 1: or suspended or whatever. Yeah, but again, looking back on it,
- 30:06Speaker 1: is kind of a dumb idea to sort of do that.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I guess too. Yeah, I think is. I think there's
- 30:12Speaker 1: a lot of pressure on those guys in uh, it's
- 30:16Speaker 1: it would be too easy I think for people to
- 30:19Speaker 1: go after them. And yeah, so I don't know I
- 30:23Speaker 1: know who they we know what their guys are we
- 30:25Speaker 1: know what they're Yeah, they list who the refs are
- 30:28Speaker 1: for each game, you know who the people are and um,
- 30:31Speaker 1: but you know, in terms of like calling them out
- 30:33Speaker 1: and going over each play what was good or bad.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And I think that's a little much. It's it's that's
- 30:38Speaker 1: a tough job. It's a tough job, and it's a
- 30:40Speaker 1: reason why, you know, coaches get fined if they after
- 30:44Speaker 1: a game, you know, start calling out the refs. You know,
- 30:47Speaker 1: they're not they can't do that. They're not allowed to
- 30:49Speaker 1: do that, you know. So all right, Dustin, thanks for
- 30:53Speaker 1: the call. Happy New Year, Uh, Joe's and Northern May
- 30:56Speaker 1: and what's up Joe? Oh hey? Um? Yeah, I was
- 31:00Speaker 1: calling back in about my call in yesterday, Okay, because
- 31:04Speaker 1: after I got off the phone, I just wanted to
- 31:06Speaker 1: clarify particularly sense it didn't want I called in, um
- 31:10Speaker 1: that I was not saying that the Colts in ninety
- 31:12Speaker 1: eight or sorry ninety nine should have taken Ricky Williams
- 31:15Speaker 1: over Edger and James. I was saying that Bill Polian
- 31:18Speaker 1: messed it up because he could have gotten all of
- 31:22Speaker 1: Dica's draft picks for that year, plus the first and
- 31:25Speaker 1: the third the following year and he still could have
- 31:27Speaker 1: possibly picked up James that year. How they were picking
- 31:32Speaker 1: the Colts. We had the fourth pick right and Mike
- 31:36Speaker 1: Dick was out there going to trade his entire draft away,
- 31:38Speaker 1: which he did to the Redskins, who were the pick
- 31:40Speaker 1: behind the Colts. Yeah, I mean Bill Polian traded before. Hey,
- 31:45Speaker 1: I see, I see what you're saying. I see what
- 31:46Speaker 1: you're saying. I don't. To me, it's irrelevant. The guy
- 31:49Speaker 1: built a dynasty kind of worked out all right for him.
- 31:53Speaker 1: What's that? I think the guy built a dynasty. It
- 31:55Speaker 1: worked out all right for him. He just wasn't as
- 31:56Speaker 1: good as Tom Brady. I mean, well, well, but okay,
- 32:00Speaker 1: so think about it this way. He would have had
- 32:01Speaker 1: the second round pick in the draft last year. They
- 32:03Speaker 1: spent two picks his first two picks on the onlinebackers.
- 32:06Speaker 1: He would have had his choice of Errington or Lacker.
- 32:09Speaker 1: It's it's just a It's the thing of what I'm
- 32:11Speaker 1: saying is, yes, I'm not saying that Peyton Manning wasn't good.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But he had two options there. One was to keep
- 32:17Speaker 1: Marshall Falk and get Edri and James want of getting
- 32:20Speaker 1: paid more money than Marshall Falk and he held out.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Everything that went into that draft did not work out
- 32:27Speaker 1: really as good as people think for Pollyan. And even
- 32:30Speaker 1: if he had, if you look at that draft, even
- 32:32Speaker 1: if he had traded Mark Marshall Falk got the second
- 32:36Speaker 1: and third for that year, he probably could have still
- 32:39Speaker 1: gotten Edri and James in a same draft. Okay, well,
- 32:43Speaker 1: yeah that was the point. Now listen, I'm all about
- 32:46Speaker 1: I'm all about knocking Pollyan down pegs. But you know
- 32:49Speaker 1: you're saying he did good, but he could have done better.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Yeah that's yeah. You know what, you know, who else
- 32:54Speaker 1: could you know, who else has done oster in football?
- 32:56Speaker 1: But he could have got a better one. Yeah, you
- 32:58Speaker 1: could say the same about Bill. Yeah, any coach, I mean,
- 33:02Speaker 1: don't don't don't try it right, And none of them
- 33:04Speaker 1: are perfect, obviously I think they could all do better.
- 33:07Speaker 1: But it's hard. Yeah, of course it is. Yeah, um
- 33:11Speaker 1: m or from Haifa or Haifa Right, last show, Fred
- 33:16Speaker 1: had it ran about the Bills, highlighting the fact that
- 33:18Speaker 1: they're that they're the last team to win back to
- 33:20Speaker 1: back games and consecutive seasons and gillettes and so five.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Not that I care much about these random stats, but
- 33:26Speaker 1: all the stats shows is how great the Patriots were
- 33:28Speaker 1: in the last twenty years and how terrible the Dolphins, Jets,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and Bills were. I would think that there's a lot
- 33:34Speaker 1: of teams that had a chance to beat the Patriots
- 33:36Speaker 1: two years. I would think that having a team outside
- 33:39Speaker 1: of the division in gileete and two consecutive years is
- 33:41Speaker 1: quite rare. It's not really happens often, so this stat
- 33:46Speaker 1: is basically for in division matchups. And not sure why
- 33:48Speaker 1: the Bills are so proud about it. It does happen
- 33:51Speaker 1: quite a bit because of the rotating schedule formula. You
- 33:53Speaker 1: sometimes get like three trips, like they're proud about it
- 33:56Speaker 1: because of the first part of what you said. It's
- 34:00Speaker 1: incredibly complimentary stat for the Patriots that that no team
- 34:03Speaker 1: has ever been able to beat them back to back
- 34:05Speaker 1: seasons at home. So let's raise a banner. They didn't
- 34:08Speaker 1: raise a banner. They did on social media. That would
- 34:11Speaker 1: be the Colts. The Colts would raise a banner for
- 34:12Speaker 1: that Bill and DC. I know you guys are making
- 34:15Speaker 1: picks today, so I'd like to throw mine into the pile. First.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Patriots over the Jags easily. Matt gets back on track.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Colts do New England a favor and run all over
- 34:24Speaker 1: the Raiders, clinching a playoff spot for the Patriots. Titans
- 34:29Speaker 1: a Dolphins going to be a tough game, but the
- 34:31Speaker 1: weather in Nashville is going to be in the thirties
- 34:33Speaker 1: with a rain and snow mix. So I'll go with
- 34:35Speaker 1: the Titans and a squeaker. And for my upset special,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I'll go back two years when the Patriots and Bills
- 34:41Speaker 1: had a big December game for the division. Patriots one,
- 34:44Speaker 1: we're feeling great about themselves, and the next week lost
- 34:46Speaker 1: to a terrible Miami team and blew the number one seed.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I think the same thing is going to happen to
- 34:52Speaker 1: the Bills. Last Sunday was their Super Bowl. They're incredibly
- 34:56Speaker 1: cocky right now, and I think they're going to overlook
- 34:58Speaker 1: the Falcons and lo in the last seconds to Atlanta.
- 35:02Speaker 1: The Patriots will then play the next week for the Division.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I love it, Bill, I love it. I hope you're right,
- 35:09Speaker 1: but I don't think you're gonna be that's asking too much. Yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 1: the Falcons are awful. Yeah, and the Bills know what's
- 35:15Speaker 1: ahead of them. They they took care of their business
- 35:17Speaker 1: this past week. I don't think it's going to happen either.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But I told you that's in the discussion for worst
- 35:23Speaker 1: choke job ever. Oh yeah, yeah, just like losing to
- 35:25Speaker 1: Miami at home to lose a number one seed. Yes, ye,
- 35:30Speaker 1: Mark and Nova Scotia. Uh. Is Patricia influencing the Patriots
- 35:34Speaker 1: defense in their play calling? It hasn't been this passive.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Bill's not involved anymore because they've given up some yards
- 35:40Speaker 1: in the last few weeks. It hasn't been this passive
- 35:42Speaker 1: since he left. They've really gotten away from the attacking
- 35:45Speaker 1: defense that Floras had been playing and before Paul Paul
- 35:49Speaker 1: pipes in that Bill runs the defense. This is more
- 35:51Speaker 1: about his influence. Yeah, but I know he knew you
- 35:57Speaker 1: though he knew you, right, because I know them and
- 36:00Speaker 1: that's what they do. No one was writing in during
- 36:02Speaker 1: the seven game winning streak when Matthew Judon was sacking
- 36:04Speaker 1: the quarterback every single week that they were being passive
- 36:07Speaker 1: when Bill was running the show. Now they're not getting
- 36:11Speaker 1: to the quarterback as regularly, and Bill suddenly ceded power
- 36:14Speaker 1: to matt Patricia, who's allowing him to influence I think
- 36:17Speaker 1: I think when you when it gets to this, you
- 36:20Speaker 1: have to look at who they're playing and I think
- 36:23Speaker 1: that if you know, during that Judeon run, like Paul
- 36:27Speaker 1: was talking about, if they had been playing that team
- 36:30Speaker 1: this week, they would have had the same defensive style,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you know what I mean, it was based on the
- 36:35Speaker 1: team that they were playing. They don't feel like going
- 36:38Speaker 1: up against Josh Allen they could do that and win.
- 36:41Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, now you can say, well, we didn't
- 36:44Speaker 1: do right. They did, but maybe they would have lost worse.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But they'll probably have a different approach against the rookie
- 36:49Speaker 1: quarterback this week, most likely probably have probably sack them
- 36:52Speaker 1: ten times, And they'll probably have a different approach against
- 36:55Speaker 1: Josh Allen if they meet again for the third time
- 36:57Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Right, but but they'll sack they'll say
- 37:00Speaker 1: back Lawrence ten times. Oh, Bill's back to running the defense.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Right point is, yeah, the guy can do no wrong.
- 37:10Speaker 1: When he makes a mistake, it's by design. So but
- 37:16Speaker 1: it's it's it's very much matchup based who's the team
- 37:19Speaker 1: we're playing, who are the players on that team, And
- 37:22Speaker 1: that's what Bill does. He's always done that. He's always
- 37:25Speaker 1: done that. Anthony from Connecticut. It's been a tough two weeks,
- 37:29Speaker 1: but hopefully the Patriots have a comfortable, get right game Sunday,
- 37:33Speaker 1: similar to the last two games during the eighteen season.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Hopefully they can figure out something that works for them
- 37:38Speaker 1: to put a good showing in Miami and the postseason.
- 37:42Speaker 1: My question for the team is do you see the
- 37:44Speaker 1: shaping out? Similar to the home game against the Jets
- 37:47Speaker 1: early this year, Bill ran up to score against them,
- 37:50Speaker 1: to show the team that they can be what they
- 37:51Speaker 1: can be capable of, and it seems like that might
- 37:54Speaker 1: be due for the team at the moment. Thirty five
- 37:57Speaker 1: seven Patriots, enjoy your red zone Sunday, Paul, I don't
- 38:01Speaker 1: have a red zone Sunday. Why not one o'clock. It's
- 38:05Speaker 1: a one o'clock Sunday game. Oh you don't get you don't.
- 38:08Speaker 1: He's got a pre game and postgame show. You're suddenly
- 38:11Speaker 1: giving me the games off now. I mean, I just
- 38:15Speaker 1: don't know how much you're gonna learn against this you know,
- 38:19Speaker 1: depleted Jaguars. We I think his point is it wasn't
- 38:22Speaker 1: what you learn is you didn't learn anything against the
- 38:24Speaker 1: Jets except that the Patriots could paste a bad team,
- 38:27Speaker 1: and that's all you're gonna learns that. But I think
- 38:29Speaker 1: you already know you can paste a bad team right
- 38:31Speaker 1: at this point in the season. Yeah, Yeah, it's hard.
- 38:33Speaker 1: It's hard to learn that. Again, it's hard to learn
- 38:35Speaker 1: something you already learned. Yeah, you know, I guess it.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Could you know, be reinforced, reinforced something that that Maybe
- 38:41Speaker 1: there's something. I don't think there's way for any car
- 38:43Speaker 1: you're not gonna be that's propos it Actually, like if
- 38:46Speaker 1: you were going to be playing a bunch of bad
- 38:47Speaker 1: teams in the playoffs, that'd be a good reassurance. Okay,
- 38:49Speaker 1: we can beat up a bunch of bad teams. You're
- 38:51Speaker 1: gonna face good teams in the playoffs. So it doesn't
- 38:53Speaker 1: it does, does you know? Now that said I'd rather
- 38:56Speaker 1: win thirty three to nine than seventeen fourteen, right then
- 39:00Speaker 1: that tells me something. I think you learn a lot
- 39:02Speaker 1: more if it's a seventeen fourteen game than you do otherwise.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So I'll take the comfortable win. Patriots run the ball.
- 39:09Speaker 1: They throw the ball once against the Jaguars, you think
- 39:12Speaker 1: just because back would just quit at halftime if like
- 39:15Speaker 1: they went, if they threw like one pass in the
- 39:17Speaker 1: first half, you I'm not going out there and stuff. Yeah,
- 39:21Speaker 1: tell Stidham to get out there. I'm hitting the ball
- 39:24Speaker 1: off Jessica in Connecticut. I tuned in late when you
- 39:27Speaker 1: guys were talking about the COVID issues regarding the Jaguars.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I'm going to the game this weekend, hopefully going to
- 39:33Speaker 1: see a semi good game. Do you think there's an
- 39:35Speaker 1: a chance they make it a combined practice type game.
- 39:39Speaker 1: This is my first time writing in and I just
- 39:41Speaker 1: wanted to thank you guys for doing the show, giving
- 39:43Speaker 1: me something to look forward to and making me laugh
- 39:45Speaker 1: while I'm at work. Oh, you're welcome. Fred's that was
- 39:48Speaker 1: Fred's idea. That was just that was a week just
- 39:50Speaker 1: to throw it out there. I don't think that whatever happened,
- 39:52Speaker 1: but I wouldn't actually play the game, no, no, no.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Where we might have been out. I think maybe I
- 39:59Speaker 1: wasn't paying it. Yeah, you said that they were going
- 40:00Speaker 1: to play the game that they were. Do you think
- 40:03Speaker 1: it like it every be possible in this situation where
- 40:07Speaker 1: the two coaches would talk and the Jaguars, because listen,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I can't I can barely feel a team. Yeah, so
- 40:13Speaker 1: you know, let's treat this like a preseason game. Is
- 40:16Speaker 1: there something you want to work on, I'll help you
- 40:18Speaker 1: out with it. But we can't be competitive. No, No,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I don't think there's a chance at that. I missed that.
- 40:24Speaker 1: I was here, but I missed it. Yeah, thanks for listening. Sorry,
- 40:28Speaker 1: But I mean, but I mean, at this point, there's
- 40:32Speaker 1: twenty three people on that list. I mean, there's only
- 40:36Speaker 1: fifty three guys on the roster, and you got your
- 40:39Speaker 1: practice practice squad. Yeah, you replace enough of them, right,
- 40:43Speaker 1: I mean you're barely going to be able to field
- 40:44Speaker 1: the team though, unless they get a bunch of those
- 40:45Speaker 1: guys back, like Paul said, the ones who were on
- 40:47Speaker 1: at the beginning of the week. Yeah, it's possible. I
- 40:51Speaker 1: just don't know how motivated they're going to be to
- 40:53Speaker 1: be Yeah, I think they're gonna get killed. But it's
- 40:55Speaker 1: you know, they'll have enough guys to play the game somehow.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I can't imagine they Well, if they don't, they're gonna
- 41:02Speaker 1: have to forfeit. They're not gonna They're not gonna get
- 41:04Speaker 1: together and say, hey, what do you need help with
- 41:06Speaker 1: bright like that. It's going to do just exchanging jerseys
- 41:09Speaker 1: at midfield, like, all right, have I have our defense player?
- 41:12Speaker 1: I was going to offer it, but I just wanted
- 41:14Speaker 1: to say that I could tell my kids. I actually
- 41:16Speaker 1: coached against you once. So well, let's go through the motions. Um,
- 41:20Speaker 1: if you want you want to work on some third
- 41:21Speaker 1: down sets, like specific situations, what do you want? What
- 41:23Speaker 1: do you want us to like that's not going to happen.
- 41:27Speaker 1: But you know the other thing, it's twenty three guys,
- 41:29Speaker 1: but how spread out are they? Is there one position
- 41:33Speaker 1: that is really affected? You know that like we don't
- 41:36Speaker 1: have the defensive front. They're like they have eight guys
- 41:39Speaker 1: out in the front. Yeah, so like you know, that's
- 41:42Speaker 1: that's a big thing. Yeah, you know, so maybe to
- 41:45Speaker 1: your point, maybe they do run the ball because it's
- 41:46Speaker 1: like right because they don't know when to stop it.
- 41:48Speaker 1: They don't need to throw the ball like I know
- 41:51Speaker 1: before like against the Bills team, Like you know, I
- 41:55Speaker 1: didn't care that they didn't throw it because you weren't
- 41:57Speaker 1: going to do well throwing in anyway because the win.
- 41:59Speaker 1: But this time I'm kind of with the crowd of
- 42:02Speaker 1: so what you can just run the ball and win,
- 42:04Speaker 1: you gotta throw it. You got to get those like
- 42:08Speaker 1: when you know, at the major college level, when the
- 42:11Speaker 1: really good teams, you know they have the homecoming game
- 42:13Speaker 1: against the overmatched one double a opponent, and yeah, they
- 42:16Speaker 1: could line up and run it off tackle every place
- 42:18Speaker 1: because they're bigger and stronger and faster. But they don't
- 42:21Speaker 1: do that because they work on their offense. They want
- 42:23Speaker 1: to get everything, yeah, sort of up to speed. I
- 42:26Speaker 1: would hope that they do that this one, this game. Yeah,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I think they will, because they got a lot to
- 42:30Speaker 1: work on, you know, and let's I mean, the only
- 42:32Speaker 1: way I could see them having a completely lopsided run
- 42:36Speaker 1: total is if they need to, right, you know, I
- 42:39Speaker 1: think that they'll come out in the first half at
- 42:41Speaker 1: least and be reasonably balanced, and then if it's a
- 42:44Speaker 1: blowout in the second half, I don't think. I mean,
- 42:47Speaker 1: the combination of the guy being an interim coach and
- 42:51Speaker 1: their players all missing. I don't think Bill will treat
- 42:54Speaker 1: it like the Jets. I don't either. I don't. I
- 42:56Speaker 1: think Bill will just say, let's just run the ball
- 42:57Speaker 1: and get out of here. Yeah, I do too, which
- 43:00Speaker 1: that might end up. You know, you might end up
- 43:02Speaker 1: with your forty carries, but not because you ran the
- 43:04Speaker 1: ball every play, just because right, that's the way it
- 43:07Speaker 1: ended up. Yeah, I don't know. I'm you know, every
- 43:10Speaker 1: time I think that Bill won't run it up on
- 43:12Speaker 1: this guy. You know I'm wrong, so who knows? Yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 1: Cody and Arizona. I want to start out by saying
- 43:20Speaker 1: I love the show and the insights provided by your crew.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Although I'm not I'm not a pessimist. The Patriots have
- 43:27Speaker 1: performed far better than I initially expected this season. My
- 43:30Speaker 1: question for you, gentlemen, is this, with the trending change
- 43:33Speaker 1: across the NFL to have a dual threat quarterback, should
- 43:36Speaker 1: the Patriots look at acquiring more speed and mobility at
- 43:39Speaker 1: the linebacker position and get away from the big, one
- 43:42Speaker 1: sided run stuffing style group they currently have. Side note,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I don't think our current linebacker crew is bad, just
- 43:49Speaker 1: not equipped to handle this new growing trend for more
- 43:52Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson types in the NFL. I've been calling for it. Yeah,
- 43:59Speaker 1: they've drafted it a little bit, right, but those guys
- 44:03Speaker 1: have to make an important Chase Winovich, Josh Uch, Roddy Perkins, Um,
- 44:08Speaker 1: we'll see Cameron mcgron right a little bit. They're not
- 44:12Speaker 1: quite I mean, I mean, don't hold me to every
- 44:15Speaker 1: single guy, but I think they're a little bit more
- 44:18Speaker 1: athletic skill set and in a little smaller than like
- 44:22Speaker 1: high Tower Bentley those I think I think let's I
- 44:25Speaker 1: think that's right, and it's it's almost like bills, like
- 44:28Speaker 1: grudgingly acknowledging, like okay, things are changing, like by taking
- 44:31Speaker 1: like one of these guys every year, but then he
- 44:33Speaker 1: doesn't play them. I know so because he's kind of like, well,
- 44:35Speaker 1: I have to take him. But then he's like, oh,
- 44:36Speaker 1: I still got to do things my way, you know.
- 44:38Speaker 1: All right, We're gonna take a break. Um when we
- 44:41Speaker 1: come back. More calls and emails and then later picks.

- 54:51Speaker 1: It is definitely a hotbed of Patriots football. When I
- 54:54Speaker 1: was a kid, all our USA TV channels came from
- 54:57Speaker 1: Bangor Maine. So I grew up watching the Patriots in
- 54:59Speaker 1: the nineties. We were terrible in the nineties, then we
- 55:02Speaker 1: had twenty years on top. Now we're just one of
- 55:05Speaker 1: the teams that. Being said, momentum in the NFL can
- 55:08Speaker 1: change quickly. We had it, we lost it. However, I
- 55:11Speaker 1: think we can get it back when this week, win
- 55:13Speaker 1: against Miami next week and the next thing, you know,
- 55:16Speaker 1: where the team nobody wants to play? All right, Can
- 55:21Speaker 1: I just ask a question for an honest answer? Sure?
- 55:24Speaker 1: And I email was great. This is not about the email.
- 55:27Speaker 1: But what do you think would have to happen for
- 55:32Speaker 1: the Patriots to be the team that no one wants
- 55:33Speaker 1: to play? Matt Jones throws for four hundred and fifty
- 55:36Speaker 1: yards and four touchdowns against two Miami. Well, I think
- 55:41Speaker 1: it would have to be in like in the playoff playoffs.
- 55:43Speaker 1: In the playoffs, okay, yeah, but it's Matt Jones centered.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Like they go they go on the road in the
- 55:49Speaker 1: first round of the playoffs, they go to Indie and
- 55:51Speaker 1: they just wax them. Yeah. Now, maybe they're the team
- 55:54Speaker 1: that no one wants to play. They can do whatever
- 55:57Speaker 1: they want. Sunday to Jacksonville and no one's gonna say,
- 56:00Speaker 1: you gotta worry about the Patriots now and if Miami
- 56:02Speaker 1: doesn't beat Tennessee about that game either, right? Uh? Addle
- 56:08Speaker 1: from London, continuing the Mac arm strength conversation from yesterday's show,
- 56:14Speaker 1: how would you compare it to Jimmy G's. Is Jimmy
- 56:17Speaker 1: G's quick release a factor if you think both players
- 56:20Speaker 1: arm strength is similar? I think Jimmy strong, but I
- 56:25Speaker 1: think he has a great arm either. Yeah. Is he's
- 56:28Speaker 1: one of the quickest throws. Absolutely, Lastly, if we ignore
- 56:34Speaker 1: the injury issue, would you say Jimmy G's biggest weakness
- 56:37Speaker 1: is decision making? And so would you rather have a
- 56:39Speaker 1: quarterback like him with the expectation that Belichick and Josh
- 56:43Speaker 1: would could coach that out of him over a quarterback
- 56:46Speaker 1: with a physical limitation. For what it's worth, at this
- 56:49Speaker 1: point in time, I would take Mac over Jimmy G.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Because I think there's more to come from him. But
- 56:55Speaker 1: it would be a much harder call if we're comparing
- 56:57Speaker 1: them at the start of their respective career years. Well,
- 57:01Speaker 1: I don't know. At the start of this respective careers,
- 57:03Speaker 1: Jimmy GI was coming out of a Eastern Illinois and
- 57:07Speaker 1: Mac was coming off a national championship. Right, and Jimmy
- 57:11Speaker 1: had two full seasons in the program before he got
- 57:14Speaker 1: his first start right into it, I would I think
- 57:19Speaker 1: Jimmy would have looked a lot different if he had
- 57:21Speaker 1: used the same I used the same phrase Mac was
- 57:23Speaker 1: more ready to play. I keep using that, right, You
- 57:26Speaker 1: know that that's the number one thing Mac had going
- 57:28Speaker 1: for him is he was closer to being ready to
- 57:30Speaker 1: play than the others. Yeah, I do think, you know,
- 57:32Speaker 1: I think jimmy g skill set is significantly better than
- 57:36Speaker 1: than Mac joneses. I do worry about Jimmy though, Like
- 57:38Speaker 1: I was watching, I worry about him because of his
- 57:40Speaker 1: his health. He sits back there and he's got a
- 57:42Speaker 1: perfect pocket and the shoulders start moving like so he's
- 57:45Speaker 1: getting ready to and he throws the pick. It's like,
- 57:48Speaker 1: I don't like that, waits a second or two tell
- 57:53Speaker 1: he's got to tell. And I think he waits a
- 57:55Speaker 1: second or two long to a guy that that's the
- 57:59Speaker 1: right guy. It's not like you threw it to the
- 58:01Speaker 1: wrong guy, but you waited too long. Just get rid
- 58:04Speaker 1: of the ball. You know you've been watching a lot
- 58:07Speaker 1: of the Niners. Well, when you're on I watch you know. Yeah,
- 58:11Speaker 1: I mean, I know what Frid's talking about because I
- 58:12Speaker 1: kind of know the little shoulder thing that you're talking about.
- 58:15Speaker 1: But what the biggest thing that worries me about Garoppolo
- 58:18Speaker 1: is he just doesn't hold up. Yeah. He gets hurt
- 58:21Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah, and I know that sounds unfair.
- 58:25Speaker 1: It's not like it's anything he's doing to get hurt,
- 58:27Speaker 1: but it's just a you know, injury prone and unlucky. Ye,
- 58:32Speaker 1: Bob and m Wilmington, North Carolina. Would you like to
- 58:35Speaker 1: see pass heavy game for the Patriots in one of
- 58:38Speaker 1: their final two games this year? Is there a chance
- 58:40Speaker 1: for McDaniels to cut the reins loose for mac or
- 58:43Speaker 1: is his success only attributed to the run game? Well,
- 58:47Speaker 1: I'd like to see him. I mean, any game. It's
- 58:49Speaker 1: gonna be this one right against the beat up Jags team. Yeah.
- 58:53Speaker 1: If they can't throw against these guys, they're not gonna
- 58:55Speaker 1: be able to throw against anybody. Yeah. They should be
- 58:59Speaker 1: able to do whatever they want. They should. Yeah, I agree,
- 59:02Speaker 1: whatever they want to do, they should be able to
- 59:04Speaker 1: do it. They should, and I think they will. Philip
- 59:06Speaker 1: Bay from overseas Okay, good, just finished listening to the
- 59:12Speaker 1: previous show, and I have to say Eric was kind
- 59:14Speaker 1: of right. Although I am from Rio, Brazil, I live
- 59:17Speaker 1: in Paris, so I guess that qualifies me as an
- 59:20Speaker 1: overseas listener. Absolutely at the Paris is overseas. Yeah, across
- 59:24Speaker 1: the pond. I don't think you can't get anymore over
- 59:27Speaker 1: That's where he wants to be, right, Europe. I want
- 59:29Speaker 1: to be away from you. Yeah, his mind's on Europe.
- 59:34Speaker 1: I just want to travel somewhere again. Sure, sit in
- 59:37Speaker 1: a cafe with a beret, eating eating eating a croissant. Yeah,
- 59:43Speaker 1: beggett warm baggett. Question, shouldn't we put some blame on
- 59:51Speaker 1: Bill for the slow So no, I just said yes,
- 59:55Speaker 1: shouldn't we put some blame on Bill for the slow
- 59:57Speaker 1: starts in the last two games? Since it happened across
- 59:59Speaker 1: the board offense, defense, and special teams? And isn't that
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: one of the few things to watch in this Jaguars game? Um? Yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I mean I guess that is something that is coaching, right.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I mean, when you don't come out with a good start,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: it's generally your game plan that you formulated didn't didn't
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: work well right the game And I would declare, yeah,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: so I think that's a fair Again, I don't think
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: you can. It's just not a fair look because if
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: the Patriots come out and score touch on, Patriots came
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: out with you know, fast start, No, the Jaggs just stink,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you know, so on Sunday. Yeah, but I would, I
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: think you would be right to say. And I think
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: there are six games this year that the Patriots started
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: with a touchdown, yeah, on their first drive, And I
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: think you'd be right to credit the coaches with that,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: you know, I don't think that's an unfair um, you know,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: praise for the coaches when you come out and have
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a good game plan to starting it works right away.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Yeah uh. Dale writes in the one comp to Mac Jones,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I never hear about his former Patriot Tony Easton, soft arm,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: very little mobility, and you're worried if they both would
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: cry after a big hit. I don't think mac. Nah.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Mac doesn't look like he's gonna cry, Absolutely not. And
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: a lot of the players on the page didn't like
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Tony Easton. They didn't really like him, you know, especially
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: his own lineman. That's not good, you know, So yeah,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I think Max, I know, Hannah used to make fun
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: of him. You know, I'm not involved enough to know,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: but I I do think there's some similarities there. He's
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: a smaller guy. I think he's gonna have a hard
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: time holding up to wear and tear. But I don't
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: think he's wasn't Easton like six three. Well, I don't
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: know how tall he was, but he was small, and
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I remember Ron Meyer didn't want him because he was small.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: That was a big ball light weight. You mean, yeah,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: but he wasn't a leader, and I think Mac will
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: be a leader. I do. If Michael Parsons was available
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: at pick fifteen, I wonder if the Patriots would have
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: been better at taking him and trading a second for
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Garoppolo or taking Davis Mills with their second pick. They
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: are still you know, less. It's interesting if there were
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: a lot of those players available, like a wide receiver
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: well or him. And just because the Patriots took Mack
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: at fifteen doesn't mean he wouldn't have been there in
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: the second round. I mean, I don't know that another
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: team would have picked him. Fred, you really are just
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: like rattling the hornets nest to him. No, I'm saying
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: a lot of things that are very, very, very very inciting. Yeah,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I mean at that point, I think, Paul, you'll correct
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong. I'm sure. But the teams that
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: really needed quarterbacks kind of had who the you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the question is, right, did someone that was you know,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: like a New Orleans, someone that was down low that
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: reportedly was trying to get up? Did they want mac Jones? Right?
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I think your point is accurate. I think there's a
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: better than average chance that if the Patriots didn't take him,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: he wouldn't have been the first round. Yeah, and I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: think that might have been that might have been the
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: risk that maybe the Patriots love mac Jones, but maybe
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Waddle was there, maybe they were willing to take that risk.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: We're gonna take Waddle because we know he's not gonna
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: last another couple picks. Yeah, and we'll take our chances
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: that mac Jones still available, and we'll we'll snatch him up. Yeah,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you know, or somebody like Dave. If he's not someone
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: like Davis Mills, ye might might be in your time.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I think that there's an argument to be made for
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: that that Bill would have been just as happy, yeah,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: with waiting for a quarterback. Now, part of that, I
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: don't think he would have been right by the way, right,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: because I don't think they just they're all just the same,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: like the Julio Jones that you know, the famous Julio
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Jones John Baldwin story. Remember that there was a story.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: There was a passage and I think one of Michael
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Holley's books that Thomas Dimitroff called Belichick to ask for advice.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: They made a big trade up from like the twenties
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: to the top ten to get Julio Jones, and Bill
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: reportedly in this story suggested not doing that. It's the
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: same thing Juio Jones. You can get the same thing
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: at Jonathan Baldwin down the bottom of the round. And
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I think that Bill largely believes that, yeah, that you
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: can get the same guy later in the draft, but
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: not all the guys are the same. Well, that's why
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: he trades. I think that's why I was just gonna
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: say that. Yeah, yeah, Alice says, and he's in Pentucket, Eric,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: I know what that is. He's not too concerned about
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: this game. But is there a way that the Patriots
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: could do anything to make you go this is actually
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: a great team during this game? No, Nope. Personally, I
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: believe Jacksonville is just horrendous. So get your win and
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: get out. I can see a lot of media saying
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Patriots are back if they get a shutout win. Curious
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: on your thoughts. My prediction is thirty five ten, not
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: even close. It was a similar reaction when they beat
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: up on the Jets. Yeah, you remember, like they were
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: going through a little bit of a losing skid. Sure,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: they beat up all over the Jets and people were like,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: all right, now, see this is what their cape bull up.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I can't imagine there's gonna be much of that in
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: the media. Yeah, I had imagine that. No, I can't
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: not not with this Jacksonville game, beat Miami, and I
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: think you might get a little of that. You underestimate
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: this media corpole. Um, I don't think. I don't think
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: that's possible. You know what is possible. Deuce is back
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: from practice, has returned from practice. Michael has returned from
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Michael has returned from right And what did you see?
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: All right? A couple of new absences today, Shack Mason
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: being the headliner. Yanni could just also so two offensive linemen,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: uh new absences one return. However, Dietrich Wise is back
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: off the COVID list, So that'll knock them down to
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: five guys. Probably in good spirits too, right, always, always, always, Now,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: did you fashion the pool report today? No, we had
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: a full contingent today was full beat reporter. I see
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Mike Giardi tweeting per pool repat. No, he had everything
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: that you just said. No, that's not really Yeah it was.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: There was the full the full contingent of everybody today.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: It was just one cameraman and he probably had somebody
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: feeding him. They want to give it. That's all we
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: did yesterday when it was underman But um, otherwise no,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Agalore still probably good though that No additional guys on
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: COVID right so far it's two days ago. Well they
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: weren't if they weren't missing, I guess. I mean with
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: with could Mason, I mean Mason would be yeah, you're right,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: sorry my bed and could just be U. But hey,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you got Michael and when you there, so maybe you
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: have a little bit of flexibility if if you got
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: to pump him back in the guard. But um, yellow, cold,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: little wet, so it's even now. But yeah, yeah, we
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: got to replace the right guy. They got to replace
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the defense, left guard, the right tackle, their left tackle. Yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: they got and they're just missing the offense and defense.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: We're missing the right guard. But he's good. Yeah. Um,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: but we got to watch watch huperiod one so they
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: extended a little bit and kind of miserable December day. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: it wasn't It wasn't too cold though, Wasn't It remind
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: me someday when I leave fred Yes the earth to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: ask that question, okay, to Bill and Bill, Oh, do
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: you mess with a Yeah, you know when the weather
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: is particularly lousy, do you let the media stay for
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: like an extra five minutes? Right just to Yeah, I
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: mean it is funny is they let you stay through
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: period one, which is always just kind of positional warm
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: up drills. Um. But yet again Damian Harris bringing the energy.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I mean he just he seems like it's his tradition.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Now after that first I mean a little kerry, he
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: screams at Mac. Did you kind of sense after the game,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: you know, Harris had three touchdowns that he seemed okay
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: in his press conference, like he was kind of happy,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: h Harris. Yeah, Freddy, you're telling you he is because
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: he did well personally, He just like he was okay
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: because he played well he didn't seem like he was
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: in that bad a mood. Well, could it be just
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: that he's a professional and he just takes things very
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: evil or extreme perfect? It could also it could also
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: be that, you know, he questioned his injury going in,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: and he was thrilled coming out that he felt amination
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: of things. Well that was I mean remember Andy speculating
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: like is he gonna get too carries? Trying to open
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: up a little bit, and then yeah, I was worried
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: about that. Yeah, so he was just so happy that hey,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I feel good, Yeah I'm bad. I do find it
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: interesting how some players, because I tried to put myself
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: in their position, like if I were a player, and
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: like not just a fan, but like if I had
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: something writing on it, if I was actually invested, how
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: badly would I take the losses knowing that I'm getting
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: a paycheck for it? You know, like it's one thing
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: in high school, you know, you get very emotional you lose,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: and you know, but these guys are so such pros.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Like I've seen so many players after like playoff losses,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: super like a perfect example, the Super Bowl forty two
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: loss to the Giants, undefeated season goes, you know, we know, right,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: this was unbelievable. He's right, I know. We went down
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: to that big it was the timeball field, right yeah, no, no, no,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: this no for interviewing in interviews. Yeah, And they had
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: you know, the the risers and the podium set up
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: for the Marquee players, and like Randy Moss was up
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: there as like as professional as you would ever imagine,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: like just talking like very you know, like that not
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: not a not an ounce of emotion coming on of him,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: like like he wanted to cry or like he was upset,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: like like he was handling it. Not not that he
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: wasn't upset that they lost, but like he was handling
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: it so well. And I remember the party rowing stuff.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I would not be. I wouldn't be. I wouldn't with it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I know, I wouldn't. I'm a baby, I did. I'd
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: be pissy. And this was like literally five minutes after
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the game ends, five or ten minutes after the game ends,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: but I remember, I have a chance to collect your
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: thoughts back at the hotel. You're like bumping into people
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: and you're like giving up hugs and you're like, yeah,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: you're looking like I feel like I'm more upset about
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: and you guys kind of know me, I really don't
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: even care. Like they were like, yeah, yeah, we're you know,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: I didn't. They sort of go into it and they're like, hey,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: we put everything we have into it, and if everything
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: we had wasn't good enough with that, yeah, you know,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: like we we put it all in there. Now. I
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: don't think Brady's like that. I think Brady probably was
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: up in his room pouting. Yeah, like Paul would have
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: been no, no question, I would be pouting. I wouldn't
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: be at the part hadn't been there, Earth Winn and Fire. Yeah.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: But like I'm talking, but like I remember seeing like Junior, Uh,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Stephen Neil Ye, Ty Warren, like you know, at these
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: various different times, like I'm not even talking about just
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: that one, various different big games, you know, and just
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: all guys that I know were very professional. Oh it's
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: not like like you know, sometimes you're like, you know,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Odell Beckham, does he really care? You know, you know,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: or pick a guy you know, maybe that you didn't
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: think if you didn't know if he was really invested
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: or not. Guys that you wouldn't you pretty sure that
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: they were, you know, and then they you were talking
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: them like, yeah, you know, it's tough one. You know,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Matt Light, Oh you know, I remember seeing Matt Light
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: after one of those super brights shrug it off. What
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: are you gonna do? Yeah, you move on. And you
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: can contrast that with how Bill reacts sometimes. I mean
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: just last week or whatever it was, we had the
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: famous you know, apology the next day at the press conference.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Based on how he reacted, Like, you can tell when
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: they lose, you know, he's gonna be pissed. Yeah, and
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: he takes it like he wears his emotion on his
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: sleeve when he goes up to that podium for the postgame. Parcel, Yeah,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: he wears it on the mask. Parcel said, you lose
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: and you just want to throw up in your mouth, right,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: you know, Like, but it's the worst feeling. Right. But
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: some of these players who are like you know, they
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: could be the sons of the coaches. That's how much
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the age gap is. Like they're just treating like I'm
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: amazed at how professional they are and how much they
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: can compose themselves after losing something as important as like
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: a playoff game or a super Bowl. It's just so
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: outside of real life, Like none of us will ever
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: leg in our job, like like there's no super Bowl
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: for your job generally, like people who work real jobs,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: like you never finish your job like me, and I
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: never won the super Bowl of being an electrician, you know,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: like but regular jobs. It's just it's strange. And I
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: guess the other thing that temper the disappointment is you
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: lost your last game and the season is such a grind.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and so you realize I can wake up
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: tomorrow and I don't have to do this well. And
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: also also their their their bank accounts are enormous, you know,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: so like you can always fall back on like, well, okay,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: you know, I guess I'll just be rich. I'll just
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: go buy an island now and go stay there for
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: a little while. Right. That's you know, that's tomorrow. I
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: can do whatever I want to do. Right. It's kind
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: of a good scene in Fever Pitch if you ever
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: saw that, where after the Red Sox lost one of
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: the games and Jimmy Fallony goes out to dinner and
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: he sees like the Red Sox just kind of sitting
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: there eating dinner, and that's like exactly where you're talking about. Yeah,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: they're just like hanging out. They're like, well, season's over.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: So I had a question um post to me yesterday
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: when I was on my station. Yeah, which is and
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I'm curious what you guys think. Do you think mac
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: mentally was hurt by the game? You only threw three pass? No? Uh, yes,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I don't think I do. I never I gotta be honest.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I never even gave an announce of thought until the question.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: I was like, I don't really know. Oh I was.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I was thinking at that and I remember the next
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: day I was saying I was. I felt embarrassed for
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: him that they didn't, you know, that they didn't feel
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: they could trust him enough to throw with the wind
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: at his back, Like I'm okay, you know, you're going
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: into the teeth of the wind. I understand. I'm okay
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: that they didn't throw it thirty times. You could have
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: thrown ten exactly, you know. And I think that was
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: that wasn't to me. If I were him, I would
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: have been insulted by that. I'm like, you're really still run?
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: I wonder and I don't know. I'm not trying to
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: make a thing out of it. You know, There's been
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: a lot of talk in on talk radio, not necessarily,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: you know, back to the you know colleagues. No one's
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: really talking about it around here, um about a possible rift,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: you know from what that thing that that slater said
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: in the locker room. And then I thought Van Noy's
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: comments about Jaz Jackson, whose brain child was this is
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: everybody's brain child except for the people who who brought
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: it up to you on your radio. So well, Christian,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I can't ask me the question yesterday. I just don't
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: think Mac is in a place. He's a rookie. I
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: think like he's like, oh, they should have just let
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: me do it, likes he's like no. But he asked
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: what he asked if his confidence was shaken, because they
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: clearly I think I think it was the want is
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: one thing, but being he brought it, I thought he
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: asked different thing. He asked if he was hurt mentally
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: by it? I think was the question, not is is
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: he mad? But at Bill for not allowing him to
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: throw He's not in the I agree with you, he's
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: not in a position to be mad at this coach.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: I can only wonder I would have been. I wonder
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: if he looked at at you know, I would I
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: would have called, I would have checked out of the play,
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: would have walked out. Right. Do you think that I'm
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: not throw the next pass or I am leaving? Do
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: you think Kyle van Noy like talking about that, you know,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: the dropped interception was kind of I no, I that
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: that one I missed. Go ahead, Okay, tell me, he said,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Jasey's got to make that play. Oh, speak about it,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: and I did it. Yeah. I wonder if there's like
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: a rift a little bit between offense, defense and I
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: And I think back to that, sounds like there's a
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: rift between defense and defense that Monday night, that Monday
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: night game. Um, and we we argued about this, and
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: we were on a different side of than most. If
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: you recall, yeah, we was the credit given on this
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: show for the Monday night game. If you remember the
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: fourteen to ten game. The defense. Yeah, we all we
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: all agreed, what got the attend what got the the offense? Well, Bill, Bill, Bill, Yeah,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: yeah right, but like brilliant, Yeah, you know, look at
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: the way they ran the ball. I got I got
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: news for you. They ran the ball better Sunday than
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: they did that Monday. I understand they did, and but
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: you know, going back to Slater, there might be a rift.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: I don't know. We don't know what's going on. I
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: just think it was nothing Slater said indicated that there's
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: a rift. No, sorry, you don't think it's interesting. I
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: know you probably already talked to someone who thought it
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: was ridiculous too, But I did talk to any one.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: But you don't think it's it's interesting that he says,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: we have choices to make ye like or let inspire
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: a lot of control. I gotta tell you, I don't
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: ever remember that being an option in New England. I
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: totally agree with that. No, I I think that that's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the normal thing to say at a point where a
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: team is facing adversity. You know, we have to we
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: have to decide what we want to do. I think
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: that that's a normal thing to say. I know, I
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: don't think that that indicated that there's any kind of rift.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: I don't. I just don't. I don't know if it's
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: a rift. I just wonder if there's like a step
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: back confidence problem. It's it's unusual to hear it coming
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: out of this locker room. Yes, yeah, very unusual. Well,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: it's unusual to see what we just saw. I mean
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: they're not used to this, or you know, at least
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: when you think you're good to be kind of set
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: back and like who get you're asked what two weeks
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: in a row. I don't want to start questions. I
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: don't want to make too much of it because I think,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: but but I think it's been I think it's largely
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: been made nothing of it. I don't think it's nothing.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I think it's something I do too, Like as as
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: Jim and Wiggins would say, it ain't sunning, but it's nothing,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: but it ain't native. But again, there might be problem.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Very eloquently, you know, says we have no idea what's going.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: But I wouldn't say that what Slater said indicated it.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: But I'm not talking about Slater. I'm talking about the
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: totality of the NO. I brought that up as the
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: first example. Andy Eric's right. They don't talk about an
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: option being circling the drain and quitting. They don't talk
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: about that annoy never no. But they've been here for
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: over twenty years. I don't hear that being and I've
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: heard it many We all have to look at ourselves
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: in the mirrors, that's what they would say. No, it's not.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: It's not what I'm saying. We have we have two choices.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: We can we can fight back or we can give up.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Nobody they never say that here. I guess I know.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: And again, I'm not trying to make it out to
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: be a huge thing. I just think that it is something.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: There is something going on with the way that they're
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: talking in the locker room. I don't know if it's
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: a confidence issue. I don't know if it's a jealousy
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: issue that Mac Jones has been a passenger and he's
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: getting all the credit for those wins. And maybe Kyle
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: van Noy was sort of giving you a pe, you know,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: like you know, we almost made a play to win
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: another game. Like I don't know. I really don't know,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: but I just don't I don't think it's nothing. Would you?
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Would you draw some comparisons to oh nine, Yes, and
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: what was what was the thing about locker can't get
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: the guys to play the way? And why do you
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: think he couldn't get them to play they want because
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: they didn't like it. They didn't want to. Yeah, but earlier,
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: not many weeks ago, we were saying, but this is
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: a group that Bill just loves the coach, right, So
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: why do we say that? And we can't say that.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I'm just saying that, Like, why were we saying that?
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Seem like they had a good formulator in the seven
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: game win, because they weren't saying things like we've got
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: to have that interception, right. And also it might be
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: you know, certain certain groups, certain individuals, certain teams. You know,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: when things are going well, everything's coming up roses and
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: as soon as you hit a rough patch, to me
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: of that, you know, so you should hit a rough patch,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: you start you start turning on people. Now, the good teams,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: and we've seen plenty of good teams around here. When
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: things get bad and they know they are a good team,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: they say, we trust in each other, We stick with
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: the process. You know, that's normally what we hear. Like
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I remember, specifically Julian Edelman saying it in the Pittsburgh
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: locker room after they lost the week after the Miami
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Miracle back in twenty eighteen, and like everybody was crowding
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: around him because he was one of the few guys
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: who was talking that night, and they all knew he
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: would talk and he would be a good quote. And
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: that was that was one of the things he said
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that night was like, look, we know what we've gotten
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: this locker room, and we trust each other. I wasn't
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: hearing any of that each other night. We talked yesterday
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: for players high Tower. Has Jase Jackson talked this week? Ye?
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Jay Jackson, you know who? You remember what he said
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: after the game? He didn't, right, he didn't talk after
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: the game. Yeah. Man, this has really gotten bad quick.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: That's amazing. You know My point though, like they like
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: when things are going great, oh sure, sure, I ante
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: for the game right, right, and then when things are
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: going bad, I don't want to talk. And that's why
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Mike and I don't think he will be here next Well,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: that's what we did one reason. You know who's at
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: matt Light at the time, you know. But at least
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: that was just Jason Taylor. No, it was very consistent.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: He usually talked. He just didn't talk after Jason Taylor dominant. Yeah,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: he's pretty right about that. Yeah, but there's been a
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: lot of guys like that when and where, you know,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you don't hear from them after losses. But I don't know,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: like I said, it could very well be problems. Yeah,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: and I'm like, like I said, I'm not telling you
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not telling you that whatever's going
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: on is a major deal. I'm not telling you that
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: at all because I don't know. And when I keep
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: getting asked about these things, I keep saying the same thing.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I haven't been in the locker room in two years, right,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: So it's really hard to get a feel in a
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: zoom calls to what's going on. I'm just looking at
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: the quotes when they come out. I'm hearing sound bites
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: that are getting played on TV and the radio, and
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I'm wondering, like if there's a little jealousy going on
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: among factions of the team, I'm wondering. I'm not saying
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: there is. So I don't want you know, when the
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Patriots win thirty eight to nothing on Sunday, right, I
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: don't want to hear like, oh yeah, big rift in
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: the I didn't say there was, and I don't have
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: any delta. The Patriots are gonna roll on Sunday. None, no,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: no doubt at all. Yeah, but what does it tell you? Nothing?
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: That nothing? No. But I'm just saying I don't want
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: this to be portrayed that I h what happened to
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: your rift? Like nothing, I never said there was one.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: I'm asking, right, I'm bringing up different comments and asking
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: how they're interpreted, asking Eric interpreted them one way, you
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: and Fred interpreted them another. I'm facilitating today. He's like
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: John McLaughlin. I'm like Felgy. I'm I'm facilitating. I'm staying
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: out of the top. All right, let's take some calls
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: before we get the picks. Uh, Sean's in Vancouver. What's
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: up Sean? The Fred? A few things, Eric, I hope
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: you're right when you say the Patriots are gonna play
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: good teams in the playoffs. That means that they want
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: at least one game. Well, I don't take me literally.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: I mean like in the playoffs, whatever team they yeah,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: whatever team they fe face is going to be a
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: good team. Unless it's Cleveland. Well we'll see. Um. The
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: other thing, I also missed traveling as well. I mean
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: there's like five or six trips that I put off
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: the past couple of years. So I can't wait till
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: it turns into maybe an epidemic and get out again.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: But I do have one question about the game, uh
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: with with the Jaguars with Robinson on I R. I
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: think they'll they'll be using Armstead a little bit on
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: maybe first and second down and U Daria or in
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the passing down. How many receptions do you think he'll
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: get seven? Seven? I don't know. I don't know. I'm
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: just it's not very specific. I don't know what every
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: point too took over for Robinson last week. Dude, right,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: ye out, I'm out the rest of the way. I
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: don't know anything else. I'm not even going to pretend
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: to tell you I know who all the guys on
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: COVID are. Yeah, Okay, It's just it's hard to it's
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: hard to really like say, this is what you need.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: The only thing that is a joke. The only thing
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: I was looking forward to in this game, even like
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: weeks ago, was seeing Trevor Lawrence in person getting the
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: eyeball test on the number Sean, Who do you want
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: to know? I don't know if we're even be able
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: to see him in his right you know, the running
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: back to Daria. I think he's going to be more
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: on passing down. Yeah, but who so who's the other guys? Yeah,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: he wasn't well, I don't even have him. He has
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: no stats. He was I think they brought him up
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: in practice squad. Yeah, he's got no carries, no receptions. No,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: they just they just put him on and you gave
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: him seven catches. So is this for your fantasy? Sean,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: be honest, is this for your fantasy? I was, I
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: was more infatuated with Mike prediction. Se just threw a
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: number out there. I just wanted to sound incredibly contact.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: All right, thanks for the car say seven seven catches, Aaron,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I don't even know who the guy. Aaron's in Kentucky. Hey, Aaron,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: to go back and watch BATA and then a small conspiracy. Okay,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I love the conspiracies. All right, So question, Uh, I'm
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: heading to the game this weekend. It would be my
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: first trip Boston, and your guys like must while I'm
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: down there there, Well, are you staying in Boston? Uh?
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: A couple of miles from Julia, Oh, from Gillette Patriot Place.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Come on down. There's tons of restaurants here because yeah,
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: I mean, go to the Hall of Fame if you
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: can get in, um right here at Gillette Stadium, that's
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: you know, do some ice skating, yeah, presented everything. Yeah,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: there's lots lots of restaurants there's a basketball shot there too.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Um. So the conspiracy I
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: don't necessarily believe. I just thought it was something kind
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: of to throw out there. So, um conspiracy that Bill
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Belichick saw Mac Jones and saw a legacy gold mine.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Not the way that you think, but that he saw
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: somebody that he could use smoking meters and make him
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: look like a good um quarterback. Because he had said
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: that he wanted to leave the team in a good
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: position when he lived. So what I mean was when
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: he does leave, that the predecessor to him won't be
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: able to use Mac in the ways that he didn't
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: make him. So so he has successfully Mack, but no
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: one else can. It's uh yeah, that's a that's yeah, boy.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: That would be really evil unless he like up and
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: left this year. But I think by the time he
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: probably leaves that if Max here long term, that he'll
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: have enough of a experience in the NFL, then like
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: it's not going to totally pull the rug out. But
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I mean, if it happened quick and Josh left him,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: Bill left this year, I have some questions about how
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: and like a new house. Thanks for the Carl, Aaron,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: How is Bill controlling how the next guy uses Mac Jones. Well,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: it's not how he uses is that Mac doesn't do
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: as well? But why why wouldn't he Because Bill's not here? Yeah,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Bill knows what he's pulling the strength try to play
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: along with me because I love conspiracies and I like
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: to try to figure out what to get on board. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I do. I love you know, I want to embrace this, Okay,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: totally acknowledging that Bill is a better coach than whoever's
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: going to take his place. Right, I'm just like I said,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I'm comfortable with the fact that whoever take took over
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Brady wouldn't be as good as Brady, right, same thing
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: for Bill, whoever takes over won't be as good as Bill. Right.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: So you think he's that bad that no one else
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: can have a modicum of success with him, Well that's
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: what this guy's saying. But what is the conspiracy. That's
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the thing that he knew that Bill purposely took a
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: quarterback who he knew wasn't that good, and that he'll
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: make him look good. I'm blinking. And then when he leaves,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: and then when he leaves, one guy's gonna fall off
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: a Cliff because Bill is no longer with Because Bill
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: is such a good coach, he can make even the
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: worst quarterback looking Yeah, it's I gotta tell you. I
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: think as long as you have a structure of a
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: team and you can run the ball the way the
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: Patriots have run the ball, Mac Jones can do what
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: he's done. I don't know what your record is going
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: to be, because you might not be as good record
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: wise as Bill because Bill is a better coach. But
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Matt can play like this with a lot of other coaches.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: I know. I know you can't do this because I
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: don't think you can trade a coordinator. But would you
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: trade Josh McDaniels and Mac Jones for Trevor Lawrence? Straight up?
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: I would? Yeah, see my knee jerk as I would.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: But then, Mike, I'm thinking, Okay, once Lawrence is here,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: who's the guy that's gonna make him forget everything he
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: learned in Jacksonville and start over with Bill's gone? No,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Bill still here, but yeah, he's gonna spend all this
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: time with Bill's gone too. Then you know you might
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: be able to argue with me, But no, I would
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: still do it because I would rather of the quarterback.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Whoever the new guy that comes in, I'd rather have
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: him work with Trevor Lawrence. Yes, yeah, Mac Jones, especially
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: after that, like good, good job is it? Aaron? Yeah?
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Now that's a deep in the weeds conspiracy. I like that?
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Why not? Being dead serious? By the way, I like that.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: One more call Craig and Hoboken. What's up Boken? Hey?
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Have you been to Arthur's? Of course, been to Arthur's. Nice.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: He just smacked, He just smasmacked away, like crazy, good job.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: You might not eat me like Eric wouldn't go to Art.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I've been to Arthur's with you when you ate mate me?
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Why not? When you have today? Mate? The question is
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: have you been to have you been to MP? The
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: sandwich isn't hooken right as usual? Fred doesn't know all
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: the places. I don't go for lunch, that's Claire, maybe
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: pizza something, any guys, I got a quick question. Something's
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: been ruined in my mind a little bit. And you
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: guys have all the history and maybe no better than
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I do. It feels to me like recently, um, whenever
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: the Patriots have quote like controlled their own destiny to
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: get into the playoffs, that's been like a death knoll
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: for us, and we can't seem to get win the
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: like the most important games in December to like get
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: the number one overall seed or like you know, the
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: East like in this year. Is that Do you think
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: there's any like weight for that or is that somebody
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: is just kind of like very recently because we've had
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: a lot of struggles in the past few decembers. Depends
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: on how far back you want to go. I mean, yeah,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: I think it's it's just recent. Yeah, I think that
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: there was plenty of years that they were able to
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: get the number one or two seed. How many times
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: did they get to buy? Right? Yeah, it's recent like
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: within the last what five years, maybe four or five years,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: going back to the two, they lost a game that
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: they should not have lost, and it costs them the
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: first round by like that's really what we're talking about,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: isn't it. You know, maybe two thousand and fift team, Yeah,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: fifteen is what I'm thinking of. Well, yeah, but that
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: but even that it only cost them the number one seed.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: It didn't cost them to buy, but it didn't ultimately
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: cost the difference, no doubt, no doubt. I still just
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: think the trend of but that wasn't the game where
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: the Patriots went in and they should have won. No,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: there was four of them with Denver in the two
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: thousand and fifteen season. They lost four games and they
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: had no business losing. Yeah. Yeah, especially those two in December. Yeah,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: I feel like we've all accepted that the Patriots are
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: going to play their best football after after like Thanksgiving
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: or November December. But I thought Eric's point earlier this
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: week was interesting that they've lost two in December. The
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: past four years, they've lost consecutive games in December. One year,
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: they last year they lost three in a row. Yeah,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I think that's that's out the window. It's different teams, Yeah,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: it is. It's a different team. It's just become a
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: cliche like that you just accept, like, well, of course
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: it just was Thanksgiving. They're gonna start playing great now.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: But much much like no one wants to see the
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Patriots in the playoffs, Well let me know what the
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: options are. I'll tell you if I want to see
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Because if it's Cleveland or the Patriots, i'd rather see Cleveland.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: If it's like India the Patriots, I'd rather see the Patriots. Yeah,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor. All right, Craig then for the call, appreciate it.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: One more, one more Peter in Toronto, what's up? Peter
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: got a hurry Hello, how are you good? Hey? Good?
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: So you know what I need you guys to tell me.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I'm crazy because it was a few weeks ago. I
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: think it was after the Cleveland game. A friend of
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: mine had sent me a picture that they seen on
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: social media and it was Steve Belichick on the field.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: You know they do the family and friends after the game,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: and he's wearing the Boogeyman shirts that they had printed
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: up in twenty nineteen. I said, like one like those
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: should have been burned a long time ago. But anyway, okay,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: interesting choice for him to wear it. I was a
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: little bit worried then. I was, you know, when j
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: C was getting his interceptions, they kept picking up the
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: you know, the mister I NT, mister I MT again
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: and so please stop giving you know, the names to
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: this defense and we're going down this rabbit hole again.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: And now after this week's performance, vanois comment after the
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: game about, you know, less talking and more action, and
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: everyone's you know, making the comparison to twenty nineteen, and
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: what's this defense? Uh, you know, a front runner just
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: you know, picking off you know, bad or weakened opponents
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: and and really not stepping up to um uh you know,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: some of the better teams are better offenses that they say,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: and you know, obviously with the with the last two weeks,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: it's it's seeming like it's closer to that than than not.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: But I'm wondering, like, is it crazy to think about
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: like the little stuff like the boogeyman, the nicknames and
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: talking like that seems so unpatriot like. Yeah, and it
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: seemed that way in twenty nineteen, and it well poorly. Yeah,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I mean that it's kind of happening again if you
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: go back to twenty nineteen, and what we were hearing
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: is not all the people on the defense we're very
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: happy with that Boogeyman moniker like it was van Noy
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: and a group of players, but not everyone on defense
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: like that. The defensive backs didn't like it. Yeah, And
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: so now I find it interesting that now it's van
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Noy saying no more talk. You know, it's almost like okay, no, bess,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: he's doing it. Yeah, but exactly right, you know, So
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: now okay, that could be an indication of something going on.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I think to like the team now, it's so connected
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: to the past that every time they win a few
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: games or play well, it's they're back. They're back, and
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: they're never gonna be back in that right, they are
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: always going to be a new team now that that
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: needs to like shed themselves of all that, yes and
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: re establish a new identity, because this identity that they've
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: established now and I touched on yesterday, was one that
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: can't really handle adversity, like and you've seen that throughout
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: the season. They haven't been able to turn things around
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: when games aren't going their way. They've lost two in
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: a row multiple times, which I see is a team
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: that can't bounce back or you know, can't make those changes.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: You know, just to bring up the point again, you
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: lost two straight earlier in the season. You go to
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Houston and you come out flat again. So you know,
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: thank god, Jacksonville. This weekend is probably going to be
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: a JV squad. But next weekend against Miami and the
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: playoff game most likely, I think, Dan, you'll learn that'll
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: that'll be the true tale of can this team separate
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: themselves from that establish their own identity and like just
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: get rolling. But I think one thing to take from
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: the season is like can we just let the past die?
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Can we let all that stuff? And I think it'll
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: probably be built in with some of the moves that
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: they have to make on defense, with some of the
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: veterans that'll move on, but just we gotta, we gotta
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: stop with their back. It's just it's not ever going
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: to happen. I agree with Mike, and I think that
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: has been part of it is every time that they
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: have a modicum of success, it's the old Patriots, and
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: this is nobody wants to play them. They're they're gonna
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: fall into the bow. We say that in fancy. I
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: wonder what's being said downstairs. No, but I think what
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: I think there have been some instances this year where
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: they've played like they read their press clippings a little bit.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: And so this is why I say, it's not always
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: great that you have a raw, raw media. I know
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: you make fun of me for that all the time,
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: but I think sometimes that they listen to it and
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: they hear it. That's where you know, when they're telling
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: them to ignore the noise. Yeah, they're not just telling
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: them to ignore bad stuff. I don't. Yeah, they don't
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: want to happen. They want to hear about how great
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: you are. Either you're never as good as they say
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: you are or as bad. Yeah. The funny thing about
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: that whole like don't listen to the noise thing is
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: that they always throw it back in your face after
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: the game or you guys say we didn't well, I
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: thought you didn't listen to the noise. I think, I mean,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: and it grow. The noise is certainly a thing, but
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: it's like because like there's another one on that list
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: of things that don't believe or fuel the hype, which
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: is the same you know that, and that's specific to that.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: They all they all listen. I mean my story is
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: back in the day when myselves was the coach. I'm
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: driving in front of the stadium and he pulls up
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: in his cattle and he's got a stack of heralds
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: that he's throwing out, like, Okay, you read the newspaper,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: you know, yeah, we all do. All right. Uh, it's
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: that time of the week, Matt. What happened last week? Um? Okay,
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: last week we have Eric thirteen and three wow, followed
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: by Paul at twelve and four, Mike at nine and seven,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: and Fred eight and eight. Ye see, I'm symbiotic with
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: the team. He's like the Patriots glosses in December. Okay,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: With the spread, it was Eric again at twelve and four,
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: like Eric knows like like keeps track of it. That's
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: why you know, you guys the book. I got guys
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: keeping me on my toes, followed by Paul at ten
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: and six and Mike and Fred at eight and eighty.
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: So the overall standings tie at the top between Eric
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: and Paul at one fifty four eighty five and one,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: followed by Mike at one fifty three eighty six and
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: one and Fred cover right there one nine blind in
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: one coming on week nobody's clinched with the spread, Eric
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: stretching the lead stretch, hearing it from the crowd one
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: forty ninety seven and three, followed by Paul and Fred
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: tied at one thirty five, one h two and three.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: Which I'm telling you, like, I can't believe that I'm
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: thirty two games over five hundred's heading into week seven.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: It's so depressing that we can't actually bet in Vegas
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: because it'll be retired right now. And well not all
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: of us one twenty seven. And so that's where we
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: stand heading into weeks seventeen. All right, two more weeks WN,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: not including playoffs. There's no Thursday night game. No Thursday
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: night game. The NFL is giving way to college football,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: um until something. So we moved to Sunday at one,
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: and we'll start with Philadelphia eight and seven. Make sure
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: I have them all right at Washington six and nine. Okay,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: Philly at Washington. Philly is favored by three and a half. Correct, Okay,
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: this is an easy one, small type. It is small type.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: He don't you have your readers? Yeah, I'm gonna take
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: I'll take Philly on the road. I will lay the points.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: In the divisional round, they're playing a little better. Uh,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: let's see Philli washing Washington. Yeah. I will take the
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: Eagles as well. Important game for them, not so much
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: for the football team. Uh. And I will lay the
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: three and a half. Yeah, I am with the boys here.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: I will take the Eagles, who are played pretty well. Actually,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: the second half of the season Washington season was completely
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: derailed by a variety of things, not the least of
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: which was a fight on the bench between I saw
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: them were college teammates, so that, Um, I'm gonna go
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: yeah right now. I don't know why it happens you
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: get emotional on the bench. I don't think what is
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: that a sign off that's good, that sures that they care? Yeah,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: they want it right. I'm gonna take Philadelphia both ways.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I am a little worried about this spread. Um. I
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: think the Touts might know something here because could they
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: take over for the Sharks, because the Eagles should be
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: a chalk but they are. He ran a half. Yeah
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: against this team a division they have like the same record,
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: I know, but Washington's and shambles. It's like a division
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: game on the road and they don't and a half.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: There was there like a one one teams eating seven,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: the other team six and nine. It's not the same
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: record too, I'm sorry. Two games different when you're only
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: playing seventeen, that's a lot, all right, all right, But
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: I will take Philadelphia both ways. Sunday at one, the
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: Rams eleven and four at Baltimore eight and seven, Rams
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: by three and a half. They have the same record.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: Doesn't seem like Ravens getting a couple of guys back.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: But I think the Rams are the team here. I
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: think they're they're coming on the right time of year.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: Take them. Yeah, I'll take the Rams too, just because
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: the Baltimore's struggled so much. I'm very surprised at how
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Baltimore has been able to stay competitive and stay in
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: these games. Um. I think the Rams are starting to
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: play well though, so I will trust them and lay
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: the three and a half good Mike, I like good
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: use of program. Um. Yeah, I'm gonna take the Rams. Also,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: I think Tyler Huntley looks like he's coming back to play,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: which could help the Ravens, but not enough. I think
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: the Rams need this to stay on top of the
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: NFC West. Yeah. I'm gonna go with the Rams both
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: ways too. But if I was a Rams fan, I'd
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: be a little worried about how Stafford's been playing lately.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: A little careless. Yeah yeah, little devil, make hair your guy, Paul.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: Evidently the only thing that matters is the last game
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: they play a different position for him this year. I mean,
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: he's on a good team and lighting it up except
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: for the last week. UM Sunday at one Tampa Bay,
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: eleven and four at the Jets four and eleven Tampa
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: by thirteen. Oh yeah, tom Brady, he owns the Jets.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: I will take Tampa in LA. Where is that? Um?
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: It is in New Jersey. But Tom Brady has played
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: there before and I think that they're gonna roll, So
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I will take the Bucks both ways. I will definitely
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: take Tampa. I I guess i'll I'll lay the points. Yeah,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: I was thinking about taking them, but Bucks are missing
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: a lot of players. Yeah, yeah, I'll lay the points
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: anyway though, But so are the Jets aren't They don't
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: they don't have players. Yeah, but seriously, I get their
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: starters are out of there any different than the Scrubs.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna replay. Yeah, the Bucks both ways. There Sunday
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: at one Miami eight and seven at Tennessee ten and five.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: First big one, big, first, big one for the Patriots
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: here um efforting to find this one. I don't know
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: if they listed it, Paul. I think there might have
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: been an overset there. We go Tennessee by three and
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: a half. Tennessee at Tennessee. There were going at Tennessee
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: three and a half for the p So I got
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: to balance my Patriots fandom. But I do think the
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Titans at home coming on a little bit, getting a
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: little bit healthier. Still know Derrick Henry, but I think
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: that they've got enough. I think they've got enough to
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: knock Miami off and help the Patriots out. I'm gonna
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: take Tennessee. I agree. I think it's gonna be a
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: tough road for TWA and the mates to hoe over there.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: So I will take the home team Titans both ways. Yeah,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I think Tennessee wins the game, but I'm gonna take
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: the oh the hoof, I'll take the hook. The Tennessee wins,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: but Miami covers. Yeah, I'm gonna do what Paul did.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: I'm tempted to take Miami, but I don't have faith
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: in Tuah. That's the thing for me. You know, sucks. Yeah,
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: that's two. That's two. You're having a strong pick segment Sunday.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: At one, play the hits, Mike, play the hit. Here's
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: the other one. Raid is eight and seven at Indie
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: nine and six, Indie by six and a half. Six
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: and a half. So we the Sharps know something. I'm
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: not sure on Carson Wentz if they know something back, Yeah,
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: Darius Leonard is back. Um, I saw that. I'm gonna
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: take Indie I'm gonna take They got enough. I just
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I can't pick against Jonathan Taylor and Vegas to sew
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: up and down all year. I'm I'm gonna take Indie
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: at home. What are the sharps? No, this is this
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: is a tough one. I don't think this is a
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: tough one. Well, you don't have to be mean, Yeah,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: you don't have to. I mean it's tough for him.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: It's not just because algebra comes easy to you. Doesn't
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: mean everybody else. It's the Wentz factor that makes it tough.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: Freend not I'm sorry myomore year. I'm gonna take Vegas.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Vegas. That's a big one. Yeah,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: just puts his basketballs right on the table. I got
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: a little room to work. He's a sharp what does
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: he now? Yeah, I'm gonna take Indie. UM tempted to
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: take the points, but I won't. I think on the road, Uh,
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: the Raiders will have trouble. I'm gonna go with Indie
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: both ways as well. Sunday at one, Kansas City eleven
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: and four at Cincinnati nine and six, Kansas City by
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: five and a half. Good game, good, good game. Uh Man,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: I do. We believe in Cincinnati. I gotta I got
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: a little bit of Joe Burrow crush after last week's
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: press conference going on. I'm a fan. Um, yeah, I'm
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: gonna take Kansas City, but I think since he holds
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: in there, I'm gonna take the points. Do winn't likewise?
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: Do so? I agree? I think you know, the Chiefs
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: are playing their best ball right now when it counts.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: So is Cincinnati and they're at home. So I give them,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: uh some credit for being able to keep this close.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: But Chiefs win, Bengals cover. Yeah, I'm gonna do the
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: same thing. I'll take the points. Yea. If it's a
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: field goal game, I will two. Was the three and
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: a half or four and a half? Five? Five and
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: a half? Yeah, so we're all taking the hook Um
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: Sunday at one the Gents four and eleven at Chicago
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: five and ten Chicago buy six? Yeah, this games play
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: this game, and justin Barkley, I think so that's why
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna take. You didn't play last week, Right, I'm
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: just gonna assume that somebody's playing Chicago buy six. I
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: think I'll find him on the sheet either. Yeah, I
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: found it six have I missed any of them? No? No, No,
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: you're you're doing well. You're having a strong pick so far.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: So would you take I'm gonna take Chicago and whoever's
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: playing quarterback? Yeah? What are what are their issues? Is
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: it well? Was he hurt? I didn't. I didn't end
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: up seeing what happened? Fields didn't play last week? Was
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: he on COVID? I don't know why he didn't play?
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Was hurt Um? Yeah, I'll take Chicago to win, um
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: and cover. I just uh just can't pick the Giants
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: to Chicago. That's it. I'm gonna take Chicago, but the
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: Giants cover. What the hell? Sunday at one Atlanta seven
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: and eight at Buffalo nine and six. Buffalo by fourteen
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: and a half. Wow. Uh No, not the biggest spread
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: of the week. No, it is a big one, though.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Buffalo to win, and I'm gonna give
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: Atlanta a little bit of credit and say they keep
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: it close. I'll take the points. I'm not. I think
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Buffalo has got a little confidence back, especially after last
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: week and at home they know they have to continue
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: to take care of business while Kansas City and Cincinnati
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: and those kind of teams are playing well, they have
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: to do the same thing. Beat up a team at
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: home that they should beat up. They win and cover. Yeah,
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Buffalo both ways too. Yeah, me too,
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: I reluctantly, But boy do I hope they choke. Um,
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: now we skip over, oh the Patriots, and we moved
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: to the late games. Four oh five, Houston four and
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: eleven at the forty nine Ers eight and seven, Niners
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: by twelve and a half. And is Jimmy Inner out?
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I think he's out. Think he's out. Oh, I don't know. Yeah, well,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: I don't know. He thought he was playing chorus Uclinis thumb.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: I thought, um, they were going to reevaluate him during
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: the week. I don't know if they made their decision yet. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Yeah.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna take San Francisco to win, but I'm gonna
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: take the points. I think Davis Mills is playing Okay.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna take San franc to win and cover at home.
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I think last week's win by Houston was just out
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: of left field. I don't see them repeating that again
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: on the road. Uh. So you I went both ways
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: with San franci Yeah, I want to take uh the points.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: If Garoppolo is not playing, I'll take San Francis good
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: to win, but I'll take the points. What was that
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: number again? Yeah, I'm gonna take the points as well.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: Uncertain Sunday four or five, denverse seven and eight at
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: the lack eight and seven? What did you take fred
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: San Francisco with then you took the points? They San
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Francisco wins? Yes, right now? Did you take the points
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: or not? They're not gonna cover? So he didn't take
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: the points? No, wait, he did take the point. He
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: did it. He said they're not going to cover. Yeah,
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: you got Houston Houston. Yeah, not to win though he
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: almost almost almost from it's my fault because I was
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: looking up Garoppolo st it's almost paying to reevaluated today?
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: Still no update, Yeah, that's what I thought. Now charges?
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Would you haven't her number chargers by six six? So
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: I was just seeing justin fields like leading the league
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: interceptions the last few weeks. Uh, some sloppy ball security,
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: tough loss for them or Herbert justin Herbert analysis Herbert Herbert. Uh,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the charges to win, but I'm gonna
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: take the points for denver Um. Seeing a lot of
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: hype about their defense and how they're playing, so I'm
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna think they keep it close. I am
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: laying way too many points this week, and that does
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: not bode well. I have a feeling, but I'm gonna
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: do it again. I think the Chargers win and cover.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: Trust yourself. Yeah, I'm gonna take the team I have
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: in this long I'll take the Chargers to bounce back
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: and I'll lay the points. Yeah. Um, I will take
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: the charges as well. It's a rare non Denver game,
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: though it's weird. Sunday, four twenty five, Carolina five and
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: ten at seven and eight. Uh, New Orleans by seven
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: wins seven yuck, and Carolina ain't got much Cam Newton bench.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna take New Orleans. I'll just I'll just lay
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: the points. I don't know who's the quarterback for New
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: Orleans this week. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I think it's
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: Book again. I think really, I think it might be
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: unless those guys. Those guys can probably come back right
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: five days. I saw something on there's no rules anymore,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: so everybody can play, no worry about it. So Book
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: may not be the quarterback. I don't know. Let's check.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: I hear there's a rift in the Saints locker room book,
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: and his teammates aren't on the same page. But maybe
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: they could be bound together. Could be right if they
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: turn the page. Right, it's a new chapter. Right, New Orleans. Right,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: you guys made me want to burn books, burn book. Sorry. Uh,
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: New Orleans wins. New Orleans wins, but I if Book
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: is playing again, I don't know. Uh, if I got them,
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: I'll take the points for the Yeah, I'll take New Orleans,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: but at that offense, I cannot lay seven points with.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: I don't care who's playing quarterback for the Saints. I'll
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: take New Orleans to win the game, but I'll take
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: Carolina to cover. Yeah, me too. I mean Carolina's defense
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: is still still pretty terrible. Yeah, and if Book plays,
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: I mean, right, so what happened last week night? So
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I'll do the same thing. Sunday four twenty five, Detroit
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: two twelve and one at Seattle five and ten Seattle
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: by seven. Seattle. I've seen a lot of positive talk
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: about Detroit Ruaria huh. So, I mean when the ball
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: just gets thrown to you, the defensive backs can catch it. Yeah,
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: how that works? I'm gonna I gotta take Seattle. I
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: gotta take Seattle at home. But I'm gonna just split
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: it and I'll take the points for Detroit. I'm thinking
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: about doing the same. I'm definitely taking Seattle to win
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: the game, only because they're at home. But Detroit's got something,
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: all right, I'll take I'll do what the same as Deuce. Yeah,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I am too. I just I just think they play hard.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: I don't know why. I don't think Campbell I don't
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: think knows what he's doing, but they play hard for him.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna break legs, so I'll take Seattle. I'm gonna
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: take Seattle both ways, so Seattle covers. Correct. Yeah. Sunday
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: four twenty five, Arizona ten and five at Dallas off,
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: We'll have nothing to talk about post games, so we
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: can watch this game. Dallas by five and a half,
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: especially after the Jags forfeit and have a joint joint practice. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Dallas at home. I just I think
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: that the Cardinals are a different team without Nuke. I
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: just I like Dallas at home. I'll take the Cowboys
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: at home as well. Um, who'd they blow up last week? Washington, Washington. Yeah, something.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I mean, I can't believe Arizona is as bad as
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: they've been the last few weeks. I don't think they
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: were as good as they were in the beginning. Is
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: the number one seed the whole way through somewhere in
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: the middle, and I still don't trust the Cowboys, So
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I will take the cardinal points. I'm gonna take Dallas
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: both ways. I think that they sort of found a
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: little something offensively last week. I think it carries over
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: Paul's correct Dallas both ways. Sunday eight, fourth place minute
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: Minnesota seven and eight at green Bay twelve and three.
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Green Bay by six and a half. Could be Rogers's
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: last I don't know, Oh, could be. Could be. Yeah,
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: feeling out for the year, I'm gonna take green Bay.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: I'll lay the points at home. Feeland's out for the year. Huh,
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: he's not feeling it. I thought he was close to
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: yet a season ending surgery. I will go pack go
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: both ways. Yeah, me too. I think the Packers are
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: just better. Yeah, it's in green Bay two, so I'll
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: take them both ways. Cleveland, this is Monday night on,
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: and be sure no Monday Night on. That's right. We
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: missed it the Green Bay games on it right? Sure?
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: Um this is on ESPN Cleveland seven and eight at
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: Pittsburgh seven, seven and one, Cleveland by three. Wow, Big Ben,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: This could be it. This could be it. So is
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: he a little bit more motivated his last game? Possibly
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: at Hindfield the clock strikes twelve, I'm gonna say no,
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna give Cleveland the ups or road win. Yeah.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: This is a tough one because I could totally see
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: the Steelers like rallying behind him and like, because they
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: all know that he's probably yeah right. But I just
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: think Cleveland needs it more and they got a bunch
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: of guys back this week, didn't they. So I will
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: take the Browns to win and cover as well. Don't
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: feel great about it, but I'll do it. I wish
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: I could get the result of that Cincinnati game first,
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: but I'm gonna take I'm gonna get I'm gonna take
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: Cleveland in this game because I'm going to assume that
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Kansas City is gonna take care of the Bengals and
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: the Browns will then have something to play for. That's
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: that was my question. So if the Browns win their
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: last two games, they win thee. Yeah, isn't that crazy
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: at nine and eight? Yeah, so I'm gonna go with
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: the play Cincinnati. I'm gonna go with Browns as well. Um, yeah,
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: I mean Pittsburgh. They've done it throughout the season where
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: they've risen up when you thought they were dead and
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: they pull off a win. But yeah, I think Cleveland.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: Cleveland had just too much more to play for in
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: this game, So I'll go with the Browns. Now we
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: go back to Sunday at one, and thank god, Sunday
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: at one. Don't you just love those Sunday at one
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: games the best? The New England Patriots at nine and
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: six host the Jacksonville Jaguars at two and thirteen. Uh, Patriots,
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: biggest spread of the fifteen and a half. Yeah, I
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: got it correct on all of your This is where
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: I go the Sharps know something and Paul says, yeah,
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: the Jaguars stink. Yeah, the Jags are not even the Jags,
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: the JV the JV Jag the win team. I can't
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: imagine what that looks like. I think the Patriots better role.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: I'll take New England twenty eighth to six. I think
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: I picked seventeen thirteen on the TV show the other
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: day right before, like, you know, the other half of
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: the Jaguars roster. You amending that because I already wrote
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: everybody down for Patriots. Oh yeah, I am taking the
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: Patriots to win. Yeah, but the points, um yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: but I'll take the Jags points. Oh boy, I have
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: to have a cross. Yeah yeah, I just I don't
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: like that. I don't like the way they played the
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: last two weeks, and I don't I don't know. I
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: don't know if they can do what we all expect
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: them to do, which is, you know, put up fifty
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: points against this team. Now, maybe they will, but I
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: think I need to see. I need to see. I
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: think I think if they get to seventeen they cover.
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: Um right, well, yeah, I just I know the Patriots
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: have a lot to play for. They gotta get back
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: on the track. I don't think this game will be
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: competitive even for a little while, right, thirty three to nine?
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I uh. I don't like my pick. But
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: the spread has gone down a point since when it opened,
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: So that's that worries something on. But no, I'm gonna
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: look to the sharps. No, right, but I am gonna
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: go with the Patriots both ways, thirty eight to six,
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: thirty eight to six Patriots role and the game's over early. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: I mean, I'm gonna try to embrace just the stress free,
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: meaningless game. Just you're not gonna give any reverse nods
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: in the middle of the second quarter. This one good.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: Oh just wait, just wait till it's ten three Jags
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: at halftime, it's gonna be looking like Ryan Grigson and
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: that the flight a game. They're down at behalf of
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: this game. Season's over. Oh, don't even come on. So
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: we're all taking the Patriots. Yeah, let's taking the points,
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: all right. So it's like the previous six ten weeks
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: on this. Let's take care of business this weekend and
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: get ready for the Dolphins. Um also get ready for
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: John Rook in the playbook, which is next uh pregame
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: social ten five correct, and then we got thet Ye.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: It's a big weekend here at Gilette Stadium. We'll see
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: you on Sunday and then see you next Tuesday. Thank
