- 0:07Speaker 1: This is Kevin's Sports very daily here bringing you the
- 0:09Speaker 1: midweek folks and on high Sports show. On today's show,
- 0:21Speaker 1: we have football updates on Folks in a Victor. I
- 0:24Speaker 1: have Town New Romney and Folks in a Victor Disability
- 0:28Speaker 1: Team and Hawkins Town. We've got news from the Folkston
- 0:40Speaker 1: Optimius Hockey Club and the folks at Rugby Club. And
- 0:49Speaker 1: you know it's not long until the London Marathon, so
- 0:52Speaker 1: I have a couple of stories to read out about
- 0:54Speaker 1: runners raising money for their chosen charity. So let's get
- 1:07Speaker 1: this show on the road and celebrate the birthday of
- 1:11Speaker 1: Sir Roger Harry Daltrey. Roger Daughtree was eighty two on
- 1:16Speaker 1: the first of March, and what better way to celebrate
- 1:20Speaker 1: his birthday than this belt o a track. You know what,
- 1:25Speaker 1: he certainly didn't die before he got old. Sit back
- 1:28Speaker 1: and listen to my generation from the who time around
- 1:39Speaker 1: Jeneras just be Charles, We get around around Roger Daughty
- 1:56Speaker 1: Happy birthday.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Eighty two on the first of March.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And I mean, what a sensational record that was when
- 2:08Speaker 1: it came out, would you believe? I mean, only you
- 2:11Speaker 1: olders will know this. It was sixty one years ago
- 2:15Speaker 1: and the classic phrase in there is hood by die
- 2:18Speaker 1: before get old. Well he didn't and he's still out
- 2:21Speaker 1: there rocking and he got a knighthood. I bet he
- 2:23Speaker 1: didn't think he'd ever get a nighthood back in nineteen
- 2:26Speaker 1: sixty five. Anyway, let's move on to some football now. Well,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it sounds like folks and in Victor just didn't show
- 2:33Speaker 1: up at Biller Ricky last week. Listening to eighties commentary
- 2:36Speaker 1: on Seasider's Radio as they went down one nal, it
- 2:40Speaker 1: seems Billy Ricky were in control for most of the game,
- 2:43Speaker 1: so it's a case of onwards and upwards. However, the
- 2:46Speaker 1: table looks like this. Brentwood a third played thirty three
- 2:50Speaker 1: with sixty one points, Avely a second played thirty three
- 2:54Speaker 1: games with sixty five points, and in Victor, our top
- 2:57Speaker 1: played thirty three games, have twelve point advantage with seventy
- 3:03Speaker 1: seven points. So this Saturday's home game against Potter's Bar,
- 3:06Speaker 1: who are twentieth, will give the Layers a chance to
- 3:09Speaker 1: bounce back and reassert themselves at the head of the table.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Hive Town picked up three valuable points against fellow strugglers
- 3:17Speaker 1: at Stansfeld in a massive relegation battle. Despite going one
- 3:21Speaker 1: kneel down at halftime, they bounce back to win three
- 3:24Speaker 1: to one under the guidance of new manager Andy Dreary.
- 3:29Speaker 1: This Saturday, the newly shaped team face an enormous test
- 3:32Speaker 1: when they travel away to third place Fisher. So let's
- 3:35Speaker 1: hope the resurgence continues. So good news again from our
- 3:39Speaker 1: two teams in the NRG Kent County Premier League. Hawkins
- 3:43Speaker 1: beat Bexley five to three and New Romney beat Canterbury
- 3:46Speaker 1: City one nil, both teams playing at home this Saturday.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Hawkins you're at home to kings Hill and New Romney
- 3:53Speaker 1: are away to top of the table Minster, who groundshared
- 3:56Speaker 1: with Margate. And this Sunday Garret Wilson makes two folks
- 4:01Speaker 1: and in Victor Disability teams for their seven a side
- 4:04Speaker 1: monthly tournament at Faversham And so good luck to them
- 4:07Speaker 1: and we'll give you an update on that next week. Okay,
- 4:11Speaker 1: So time for a bit of music now from two
- 4:13Speaker 1: thousand and eight, and this is the Kings of Leon
- 4:16Speaker 1: and use somebody that's Madonna there from nineteen ninety two,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and just at the end there she chucks in a
- 4:49Speaker 1: few words from her other song, doesn't she run an
- 4:53Speaker 1: out of material all that time? Like there we go, Madonna,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Deeper and deeper. Okay, time for a bit of rugby now,
- 5:02Speaker 1: local rugby scene now. Two big wins for Folks and
- 5:05Speaker 1: Rugby Club at the weekend. The first fifteen traveled away
- 5:08Speaker 1: and beat Beckenham fifty two to twenty one and the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Seconds were at home to Gravesend and beat them forty
- 5:14Speaker 1: one nil. This week the first team, who are fourth place,
- 5:17Speaker 1: are at home to top of the table Tunbridge Judeans
- 5:21Speaker 1: second fifteen, whilst the Folkston second fifteen will travel to
- 5:25Speaker 1: Tunbridge to take on the Judeans third fifteen. However, it's
- 5:29Speaker 1: going to be a very busy day at the Burlington Fields.
- 5:32Speaker 1: The first team kickoff at three pm, but before that
- 5:34Speaker 1: at one pm, there is a pre match lunch with
- 5:37Speaker 1: an Italian theme before watching the big screen showing the
- 5:40Speaker 1: Six Nations game between Italy and England from the Stadio
- 5:44Speaker 1: Olympicol in Rome kickoff at four forty So if you
- 5:48Speaker 1: need any details that are concerning the lunch then please
- 5:51Speaker 1: visit the Folkston Rugby Club website where contact details are available.
- 5:56Speaker 1: The next game for the Ladies is on Sunday, the
- 5:58Speaker 1: eighth of March when they travel away way to play
- 6:00Speaker 1: Seven Oaks. Now, this is a big clash. This is
- 6:03Speaker 1: the big clash of the two teams top first and second.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Folks on top seven Oaks second. So a close gaming
- 6:11Speaker 1: store there, so I should be looking at for the
- 6:12Speaker 1: result there. Okay, So next track we have got Oh yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 1: we've got to wish another veteran, a musician, veteran singer
- 6:21Speaker 1: a happy birthday. If I said to you, happy birthday,
- 6:25Speaker 1: Happy seventy eighth birthday, Michael Barrett, would you know who
- 6:29Speaker 1: I was talking about?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well? I didn't, but I'll tell you it is. You
- 6:33Speaker 2: better know. You know him better as mister Shaking Stevens.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So it's time for this old house. Well, there you go.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Are you driving around the front room. I'm in the
- 6:56Speaker 1: studio on my own, but I've been driving around with
- 6:58Speaker 1: one of the studio chairs.
- 7:01Speaker 2: What the lad? He was habby?
- 7:03Speaker 1: Birthday Shaking Stevens. Okay, time for some hockey news. Now
- 7:08Speaker 1: we'st other the men's team. Well, sadly they lost four
- 7:11Speaker 1: to three to Sitting Bawn. That must have been a
- 7:13Speaker 1: close game because they are really their fighting relegation aren't they.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Matt Neeson he got two goals and Aiden Smith got
- 7:21Speaker 1: the third. The second team they beat Maidstone at five nil,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Alex Wissart, Paul Cheap, Garrett Llewellyn and Theo Coombs getting
- 7:29Speaker 1: all the goals. Men's thirty eleven they they had a
- 7:34Speaker 1: great win. They beat a william Sony in seven nil.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Phil King got two goals. Now, Phil King, he is
- 7:41Speaker 1: running the London Marathon and I'm going to get him
- 7:43Speaker 1: in the show. I hope he's running for the first
- 7:46Speaker 1: time for the Aspinall Foundation and he ticks all the boxes.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But I'll tell you about that later. So I've got
- 7:51Speaker 1: to get in touch with him and drag him into
- 7:52Speaker 1: the studio anyway.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Phil King got two goals. Lorc and Doyle got two.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Jack Timmins, Norvel Scott and Mike Hopkin got the other three.
- 8:01Speaker 1: The men's fourth team they drew two all with Sitting Baurn,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Kyle Mackett and Ethan mccafee scoring there. The men's fifteen
- 8:08Speaker 1: they had a good three nil win against the Old
- 8:10Speaker 1: Williamsonians fifteen ten day. Nika he got one, Joe's Fresher
- 8:16Speaker 1: and Ben Taylor he got the other. They got the
- 8:18Speaker 1: other two. Men's sixteen they lost three to two to
- 8:23Speaker 1: gore Court, Steve Rowe getting both the goals there go
- 8:26Speaker 1: on Steve. The men's seventeen they drew with Gillingham and
- 8:30Speaker 1: Corian's three all Matt Carter, Matt Goodwin and Carl Bonzio
- 8:34Speaker 1: getting all the goals. And the men's eighth team they
- 8:37Speaker 1: beat Grecourt four to three, Elliott Robertson, Tom Waite, Clive
- 8:42Speaker 1: Styles and Tim Beggs banging the goals in there the
- 8:46Speaker 1: ladies they are going from strength to strengths. The first
- 8:49Speaker 1: team they had a great three nil win against gore Court,
- 8:53Speaker 1: Layla Riley, Meg Scott and Hannah Harvey banging in the goals.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Lady's second team lost two nil. Ladies thirteen they won
- 9:02Speaker 1: the close game this must have been They beat bern
- 9:05Speaker 1: Ash one nil, em pull And getting the goal. Ladies
- 9:10Speaker 1: fourteen they won four nill against sitting Born Natalie Harvey
- 9:14Speaker 1: she got two, Bea Allison and Sarah Chiezman getting the rest.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Ladies fifteen they lost two nil to Tunbridge Wells and
- 9:22Speaker 1: the Ladies sixteen they lost four to one to Hulcombe,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Vicky Stafford getting the solitary goal there, but not a
- 9:29Speaker 1: bad old weekend really. Summing up the stats, they played fourteen,
- 9:34Speaker 1: they scored thirty eight goals, they had twenty three goals
- 9:38Speaker 1: against them. They won seven, drew two and lost five,
- 9:41Speaker 1: So pretty even Stevens sort of weekend. However, on Sunday
- 9:46Speaker 1: and the Ladies over thirty five is played in the
- 9:48Speaker 1: National Plate competition. They went one kneel down, which really
- 9:53Speaker 1: was a wake up call because the final score was
- 9:56Speaker 1: Up's Ladies ten bay one goals coming from Claire Carter
- 10:01Speaker 1: and Steph Mill who both scored hat tricks. Livy Cheap
- 10:04Speaker 1: scored twice, Danny Hopkins and former guest of the show
- 10:08Speaker 1: Adrian Rowe getting one each. And we mustn't forget regular
- 10:11Speaker 1: contributor to the show she was in goal, Amy Bumstead.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So we'll be keeping an eye on that one. Actually,
- 10:17Speaker 1: the Ladies will there be an OPS team in another semifinal,
- 10:21Speaker 1: another final, national final. I think they played them in Nottingham.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I think they go up to so let's see how
- 10:28Speaker 1: they get on.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That'd be great.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm going to go back to nineteen eighteen now,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and I've said this before on the Sports show that
- 10:40Speaker 1: I do love playing songs by really powerful female vocalists,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and we don't hear much about her these days, but
- 10:48Speaker 1: I love this track. This is Barber Streisend Woman in
- 10:51Speaker 1: Love Barbs Trias and nineteen eighty Woman in Love, great track.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I really love that song, and that was written by
- 11:20Speaker 1: the Beegs, and I reckon that if you listen closely
- 11:23Speaker 1: to that song you can just hear them in the
- 11:24Speaker 1: back harmonizing, and that they wrote so many songs, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's unbelievable what they just sort of churned them out
- 11:32Speaker 1: and they were so so good. Okay, so moving on
- 11:36Speaker 1: with the sport now London Marathon. Well, it's about seven
- 11:39Speaker 1: weeks to go into the London Marathon, which takes place
- 11:42Speaker 1: on Sunday, April twenty sixth, a date setting stone for
- 11:46Speaker 1: those taking part now, whether you're an experienced runner or
- 11:49Speaker 1: somebody doing it for the first time. Training in recent weeks,
- 11:52Speaker 1: it's being awful, isn't it. It's been where, It's been cold,
- 11:55Speaker 1: been soggy, it's been really terrible. Hopefully the weather will
- 12:00Speaker 1: be a bit brighter hour as you pound out those
- 12:02Speaker 1: final miles in those long runs leading up to the marathon, itself. Now,
- 12:07Speaker 1: in recent years, I've had several runners in the studio,
- 12:10Speaker 1: but my favorites are the ones that tick the following boxes.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It's their first ever, ever ever marathon, they are local
- 12:17Speaker 1: to our folks in shep Wave region and they're raising
- 12:20Speaker 1: money for a charity. Now, if you fit into that
- 12:23Speaker 1: category and want to come into the studio and share
- 12:26Speaker 1: your story, then please get in touch. I've made a
- 12:31Speaker 1: post on my Kevin Daily Facebook page where you can
- 12:33Speaker 1: send me a private message. You can have a chat
- 12:36Speaker 1: on the phone. Now worked last year for three first timers.
- 12:41Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for. Three first timers. Now might
- 12:43Speaker 1: have one Phil King. I'm hoping I can drag him
- 12:46Speaker 1: in to the studio. He's running for the Aspinill Foundation.
- 12:51Speaker 1: But last year three first timers came in. They were
- 12:53Speaker 1: quite nervous when they came in, but they soon got
- 12:56Speaker 1: used to it, told us their stories and the end
- 12:58Speaker 1: result was fantastic. That was Carly Morgan, then Kelly and
- 13:02Speaker 1: Ellie Current. Now I'm not just interested in first timers,
- 13:06Speaker 1: of course, So if you've got a story you want
- 13:08Speaker 1: me to read out on your about your London marathon
- 13:12Speaker 1: and perhaps you're raising money for a special cause that
- 13:14Speaker 1: is close to your heart. Then once again, please get
- 13:17Speaker 1: in touch, because this is what community radio is all about,
- 13:20Speaker 1: connecting local people and local stories. We're here radio folks,
- 13:25Speaker 1: and we all volunteers. We give our time up to
- 13:28Speaker 1: give back to the community, to get people from the
- 13:31Speaker 1: community into the radio station to tell to share stories
- 13:35Speaker 1: about what's going on in our region so that everybody
- 13:38Speaker 1: can hear them. And this is the beauty of local radio. Now,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I do have a couple of stories to read out
- 13:44Speaker 1: today about local runners raising money for their chosen charity.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But first of all, let's listen to this track. Now,
- 13:50Speaker 1: if you actually run the London Marathon, you won't hear
- 13:53Speaker 1: this track, but when you get home, or will you
- 13:56Speaker 1: watch it when you've taped it?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Taped it?
- 13:58Speaker 1: That's going back a bit in it when you've recorded it.
- 14:01Speaker 1: This is the song you're here well, that's the theme
- 14:19Speaker 1: from the London Marathon, and I mean it's it's known
- 14:24Speaker 1: as the theme from the London Marathon, but it's actually
- 14:26Speaker 1: called the Trap. It was a theme song from a film.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I do believe. I must have to look at it.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Look out again.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I used to know, but I'll have a look out
- 14:35Speaker 1: again and tell you on Saturday. Okay, So staying with
- 14:37Speaker 1: our London Marathon theme then, now my first story heading
- 14:41Speaker 1: towards their running day in London is about two friends,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Annie Hobby and Laura Holly. Now Annie is raising money
- 14:49Speaker 1: for the Cordicop Foundation and Laura was lucky enough to
- 14:52Speaker 1: gain a ballot place. But it's helping Annie with her fundraising.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Now a ballot place. How rare is that? When's a
- 15:00Speaker 1: last time you heard of anybody getting a ballot place.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I know people that have entered the London Marathon for
- 15:06Speaker 1: fifteen eighteen years never got in and had to go
- 15:10Speaker 1: down that charity route. So Laura, you are so lucky
- 15:14Speaker 1: to have a ballot place and run with Annie.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Now.
- 15:17Speaker 1: The Cordycock Foundation is a local charity that perhaps goes
- 15:20Speaker 1: under the radar a bit.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Now you may have driven past it loads of times
- 15:24Speaker 1: and not noticed it. Its location is on the A
- 15:27Speaker 1: twenty between Hive and Ashford. Now Annie is passionate about
- 15:32Speaker 1: this charity, being a primary school teacher and a mother
- 15:34Speaker 1: of two young children. As the Cardcott Foundation helps children
- 15:39Speaker 1: in their schools and foster homes who have had huge
- 15:42Speaker 1: challenges to the start of their lives. Annie and Laura
- 15:46Speaker 1: are training buddies and Annie will never run on her
- 15:48Speaker 1: own unless it's with an other training partner, a lurcher. Enid, Annie,
- 15:54Speaker 1: how did you think up of a name like that
- 15:56Speaker 1: for a dog? Enid?
- 15:59Speaker 2: There's no other Inni out there, I bet anyway.
- 16:02Speaker 1: The two ladies love to travel and run. In October
- 16:05Speaker 1: last year they ran a half marathon in Rome, and
- 16:08Speaker 1: he ran the Paris Marathon, raising three two hundred pounds
- 16:11Speaker 1: for British Heart Foundation and went on to do a
- 16:14Speaker 1: fifty three kilometer run for White Ribbon, which is a
- 16:18Speaker 1: leading charity in England and Wales addressing men's violence against women.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And he has a long term neee issue which requires
- 16:26Speaker 1: a chiropractive visit every two weeks, but it sounds like
- 16:29Speaker 1: that's not going to stop her, and he and Laura
- 16:32Speaker 1: are going up on a Saturday and staying over. Then
- 16:34Speaker 1: the families and friends are coming up on a Sunday
- 16:37Speaker 1: and they've organized a big meal afterwards to celebrate.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And he wants to.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Say a big thank you to Laura for always agreeing
- 16:44Speaker 1: to sign up for races. Sounds like she's been a
- 16:46Speaker 1: bit frist ganged into that but it's great to have
- 16:49Speaker 1: a running partner that's got your same interest as I world.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Unto you, Laura, and a big thanks for the support
- 16:54Speaker 1: given by her husband Simon and the children Dulcie and Marley,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and likewise, Laura wants to thank her husband Chris, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: her children and the cheerleaders Evening and Noah. Now, so
- 17:07Speaker 1: far Annie and Laura between have raised twelve hundred pound
- 17:10Speaker 1: for the Cardycott Foundation. And nowadays, well certainly this year,
- 17:15Speaker 1: I've noticed that the charities, perhaps it's not therefore they
- 17:18Speaker 1: are having to pay more for the entries. It used
- 17:21Speaker 1: to be like fifteen hundred than it was two thousand,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but now they're wanting two and five hundred pound for
- 17:28Speaker 1: an entry. Now I'm not blaming the charities. I don't
- 17:31Speaker 1: know what goes on behind the scenes, but that is
- 17:34Speaker 1: a massive amount to find, isn't it.
- 17:36Speaker 2: But people still go out there.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And they do it, and they do all sorts of things,
- 17:40Speaker 1: cake sales, you know, quiz nights. So big, well done
- 17:43Speaker 1: to Annie and Laurie. Laura, you're what halfway at least
- 17:48Speaker 1: halfway there, And once this story goes out on my
- 17:52Speaker 1: Facebook page, I will attempt to put a link up
- 17:55Speaker 1: there to boost you're just giving okay, so got I've
- 18:01Speaker 1: known this for a while. This is nineteen eighty six.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Can't be a touch of bon Jovi nineteen eighty six,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you give love a bad.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Okay?
- 18:33Speaker 1: This is Kevin Sports ferit daily here on Radio Folks
- 18:36Speaker 1: and bringing you the midweek sports show. And now we
- 18:39Speaker 1: do two sports shows in Radio Folks. I do mine
- 18:42Speaker 1: once a fortnight now and it was once a week,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but I come back on on a Saturday and co
- 18:48Speaker 1: compare the show with Adrian Dowks. Now ad is a
- 18:53Speaker 1: fanatic for Folkston in Victor and he's streamed up in
- 18:57Speaker 1: the recent years a thing called Seaside has so if
- 19:01Speaker 1: Folks and in Victor are playing away and indeed playing
- 19:04Speaker 1: at home, you can listen online to the live commentary
- 19:09Speaker 1: and it's becoming more and more popular as folks and
- 19:12Speaker 1: of course.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Are doing very very well. Indeed.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Now I also appear at several erases around the county
- 19:21Speaker 1: and sometimes further afield and I love playing this one,
- 19:25Speaker 1: especially if you've got a two lap course. It makes
- 19:28Speaker 1: it puts us a bit of a smile on the
- 19:30Speaker 1: runners' faces.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Bacially, if there's the two laps.
- 19:33Speaker 1: This is called Let's go Round Again by the average
- 19:35Speaker 1: White band.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Average white band.
- 19:54Speaker 1: If the song runners hate here, Let's go around again?
- 20:01Speaker 1: And I must have met been on the finish line
- 20:04Speaker 1: at a race. I do learn a few new swear words,
- 20:08Speaker 1: things like oh my gosh, that was really hard or
- 20:12Speaker 1: words to that effect. Okay, so we've got another marathon
- 20:16Speaker 1: story to read out now. This story is from Chloe Westhead,
- 20:20Speaker 1: who will be running her second marathon in London. Her
- 20:23Speaker 1: first was in Southampton in twenty nineteen. Her chosen charity
- 20:27Speaker 1: for both these races is Mary Currie, who are the
- 20:30Speaker 1: UK's leading end of life charity, a charity very dear
- 20:34Speaker 1: to Chloe's heart. Chloe is born and bred South Londoner
- 20:39Speaker 1: and always wanted to run London. She and her partner
- 20:42Speaker 1: and now husband moved to her house in Somerset Road
- 20:44Speaker 1: in Folkston and her dad Andy Handy Andy as he
- 20:48Speaker 1: was known, helped them with a complete renovation of the house.
- 20:51Speaker 1: But then they had the devastating news that dad Andy
- 20:55Speaker 1: was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was given six to
- 20:59Speaker 1: nine months to live, but passed away just seven weeks later.
- 21:04Speaker 1: On hearing the news, Chloe immediately moved back to London
- 21:09Speaker 1: and to help care for a dad along with her
- 21:11Speaker 1: two sisters, an identical twin called Lucy, her older sister
- 21:15Speaker 1: Sophie and her mum Kay Andy was adamant his last
- 21:20Speaker 1: days were to be spent in the family home, a
- 21:22Speaker 1: home he totally renovated in Brixton at the age of
- 21:25Speaker 1: twenty one, so the family took it in turns to
- 21:28Speaker 1: give him twenty four hour care, but of course it
- 21:31Speaker 1: took its toll as they all held down full time jobs.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They were receiving support from the locals and Christopher's Hospice,
- 21:38Speaker 1: but this is where Mary Curie nurses came in. They
- 21:41Speaker 1: offered overnight care, keeping him comfortable with the calm, loving presents,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and the family cannot praise them enough, which is why
- 21:48Speaker 1: Chloe continues to fundraise so that other families can receive
- 21:52Speaker 1: the excellent care that they received, and he finally passed
- 21:56Speaker 1: away peacefully at the age of fifty three. Now, Chloe's
- 22:00Speaker 1: training has been hampered by a hip injury, which she's
- 22:03Speaker 1: progressing well.
- 22:05Speaker 2: She's a keen.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Cyclist that says this is her last marathon because of
- 22:09Speaker 1: the commitment to training. Now, if you'd like to meet
- 22:12Speaker 1: Chloe and have a chat with her about Mary Curry.
- 22:15Speaker 1: She will be at Morrison's on Sunday, the eighth of
- 22:17Speaker 1: March this Sunday from ten o'clock with a bucket and
- 22:19Speaker 1: a smile. No doubt, Handy Andy will proudly be looking
- 22:23Speaker 1: down on Chloe as she runs the London Marathon, cheering
- 22:27Speaker 1: her on as she looks forward to with determination acrossing
- 22:30Speaker 1: that finish line where she knows that her husband Dan
- 22:33Speaker 1: and her two children Isabelle and Elliott will be waiting.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Chloe has a just Giving page and I'll be sharing
- 22:40Speaker 1: that as well.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So now that is a really moving story, isn't it.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Now.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I put the word out to see if there was
- 22:47Speaker 2: any stories.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Out there, but I didn't quite kind of hit me
- 22:51Speaker 1: that one did, And so I hope I've done it
- 22:54Speaker 1: justice Chloe, because that was a tough thing to go through,
- 22:59Speaker 1: moving down here then moving back. But you're paying the
- 23:03Speaker 1: Merry Cury people by running these marathons and raising money
- 23:08Speaker 1: so that people will it'll just make people end of life.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You know, they will call on Mary Curry and get
- 23:15Speaker 1: the same treatment that Andy got. So big will dones
- 23:18Speaker 1: to you so and also to Annie and Laurie. Annie
- 23:22Speaker 1: and Laura keep getting them too mothered up Annie and
- 23:24Speaker 1: Laura for their story about the Cordycott Foundation. And I
- 23:29Speaker 1: will certainly be looking out for you, and I'll get
- 23:31Speaker 1: your running numbers on the day and I'll be tracking
- 23:34Speaker 1: you see how you're all getting on. So if you've
- 23:36Speaker 1: got a story and you want to share it with
- 23:39Speaker 1: me about your London marathon, now, I am basically looking
- 23:44Speaker 1: for people to come into the studio. I think I've
- 23:46Speaker 1: got one. Well, I'm looking for runners that is their
- 23:49Speaker 1: first ever, ever ever marathon, and their first ever marathon
- 23:53Speaker 1: is running at London and they're running for a charity.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So it's basically all new.
- 23:58Speaker 1: If you've run a marathon before, you've got that little
- 24:00Speaker 1: bit of experience. But I want runners to come in
- 24:03Speaker 1: and tell me how they're feeling, whether they're confident, whether
- 24:06Speaker 1: they're nervous, whether they're looking forward to it, whether they're
- 24:09Speaker 1: dreading it. You know, it's a whole whole new ballgame
- 24:14Speaker 1: for some people.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So there we go.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So there's the two stories for this week. If you've
- 24:18Speaker 1: got a story that you want to share, then just
- 24:21Speaker 1: get in touch via Mike Kevin Daily Facebook. I'll give
- 24:23Speaker 1: you my email address so you can send me the
- 24:25Speaker 1: full story and I will do my very best.
- 24:28Speaker 2: To read it out.
- 24:30Speaker 1: So now I'll be back on Saturday. On Saturday's show,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I'm going to bring you up to date on how
- 24:35Speaker 1: the Saints under four teen's basketball team chasing that top spot,
- 24:39Speaker 1: but Bromley Fury keep getting in their way. Both teams
- 24:42Speaker 1: are level on points, but Bromley have a far superior
- 24:45Speaker 1: goal difference. So they really need Bromley to slip up.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Don't they. So anyway we go. I just want to
- 24:50Speaker 2: get this one in. I love this song.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Now.
- 24:52Speaker 1: This is Barry White. Now you might remember Barry White,
- 24:55Speaker 1: the massive man with the deep, lovely voice and to
- 25:00Speaker 1: sing all these romantic songs. So let's have a sit
- 25:02Speaker 1: back and have a chill out on this lovely sunny
- 25:04Speaker 1: day to Barry White and one ticket.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Let the music play one ticket please, And.
- 25:17Speaker 3: What's going on? Man?
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 25:19Speaker 2: Shoot it home.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Yes, that's Barry White there.
- 25:32Speaker 1: We haven't heard the from him for a long time
- 25:34Speaker 1: music wise on this radio station.
- 25:41Speaker 2: What a gravity voice has got?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Okay, so it's nearly time to go now, so I'll
- 25:55Speaker 1: tell you what we're gonna do. We're just gonna play
- 25:56Speaker 1: a bit of cool in the Gang celebration because I
- 25:59Speaker 1: love this song and it's kind of a summary song.
- 26:01Speaker 1: So are we going to play out with this one?
- 26:03Speaker 1: The sun's out, make the most of it. Are you
- 26:05Speaker 1: out cutting the grass? Have you cut your grass yet?
- 26:07Speaker 1: So many people are saying to me, I'll cut the grass,
- 26:10Speaker 1: But is that right? I mean, I just cut the.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Top of it.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But I hope you haven't taken it all away anyway.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Let's just listen to Cooling the Gang and it will
- 26:19Speaker 1: cheer you up.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Celebration.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Well, do you know as we fade this one out,
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm going to play it again on Saturday because I
- 26:36Speaker 1: love this song and I'm not doing it justice.
- 26:38Speaker 2: But that's it from me for today.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I'll be back flying solo on Saturday as Ad can't
- 26:43Speaker 1: make it, but I hope to have two special guests
- 26:46Speaker 1: joining me, but Linda and David Hutchins, who have just
- 26:48Speaker 1: returned from America where they took part in possibly the
- 26:52Speaker 1: smallest part round on the planet, and plus of.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Course the mixture of sport and music for your entertainment.
- 26:58Speaker 1: To join me on Saturday between ten and eleven and
- 27:01Speaker 1: I'll see you there, What I like
