- 0:37SPEAKER_09: Welcome to the O'Brien and Doug podcast.
- 0:40SPEAKER_09: What's going on?
- 0:46SPEAKER_11: Did you ever have you ever seen the sky?
- 0:49SPEAKER_14: Just in general?
- 0:50SPEAKER_11: Wow.
- 0:52SPEAKER_11: Freaking cool, man.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I'm O'Brien.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: I'm Doug.
- 0:57SPEAKER_09: Uh it's episode 197.
- 1:01SPEAKER_09: Um.
- 1:02SPEAKER_09: It's just one of those days, man.
- 1:04SPEAKER_09: Just chilling.
- 1:04SPEAKER_09: Why are you so quiet, by the way?
- 1:06SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 1:07SPEAKER_13: Turn me up.
- 1:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's better.
- 1:09SPEAKER_09: That's better.
- 1:10SPEAKER_13: That's better.
- 1:11SPEAKER_09: Um, yeah, it's a good weekend.
- 1:14SPEAKER_09: It was a long weekend for awesome weekend.
- 1:17SPEAKER_09: It was awesome, but you man, I can't imagine.
- 1:21SPEAKER_13: Still tired.
- 1:22SPEAKER_13: I could go to sleep right now.
- 1:25SPEAKER_09: So here is uh what we did.
- 1:28SPEAKER_09: So Friday, um I got done work early.
- 1:32SPEAKER_09: Don't tell anybody.
- 1:35SPEAKER_09: And hit the road.
- 1:36SPEAKER_09: And you had already been on the road for not much longer than I had.
- 1:40SPEAKER_13: Well, I wanted to time it so that we were kind of on the road together.
- 1:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_13: Uh except that you were a little later than I thought you would be.
- 1:47SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:48SPEAKER_13: So, but that's okay.
- 1:49SPEAKER_13: But it still worked out.
- 1:50SPEAKER_09: We met at Bull Moose.
- 1:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:52SPEAKER_09: In Bangor.
- 1:53SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:54SPEAKER_13: I was there for quite a while.
- 1:55SPEAKER_13: I think they I think at one point they thought I was casing the joint.
- 1:58SPEAKER_09: So what time did you so were you there like an hour before I got there?
- 2:01SPEAKER_13: Yeah, basically.
- 2:02SPEAKER_13: I just wandered around.
- 2:04SPEAKER_13: I I I literally looked for stuff.
- 2:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_13: I mean, I had that kind of time.
- 2:09SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 2:09SPEAKER_13: Because usually, you know, when you go into bull moose, you only got a few, you know, whatever.
- 2:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 2:13SPEAKER_13: So you're just kind of loosely, well, I'd like to find this, this, this.
- 2:16SPEAKER_13: No, I literally looked at everything.
- 2:21SPEAKER_09: So I didn't realize you had been there for about an hour.
- 2:24SPEAKER_09: I knew you'd been there before I was there, but I didn't realize it was that long.
- 2:28SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_09: So you must have been when I came in and I said, Do you mind if I look around for a minute?
- 2:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I was like, uh literally one minute.
- 2:35SPEAKER_13: That's all you got.
- 2:36SPEAKER_13: I gotta get out of here.
- 2:37SPEAKER_13: I mean Of course I had to go to the bathroom really bad too.
- 2:41SPEAKER_09: I didn't know that he could.
- 2:42SPEAKER_09: And there's no public bathroom at Bull Moose.
- 2:43SPEAKER_09: No.
- 2:44SPEAKER_09: That's for sure.
- 2:45SPEAKER_13: Of course, I probably could have snuck into a corner and peed, and they never would have.
- 2:48SPEAKER_09: They would never would have known.
- 2:49SPEAKER_09: I was gonna say you probably don't want to use a public bathroom at Bull Moose.
- 2:51SPEAKER_13: I I would not.
- 2:53SPEAKER_13: I would I I don't even want to use the employee bathroom.
- 2:55SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 2:56SPEAKER_13: You know, I you know, I just no.
- 2:58SPEAKER_09: So then we hit the road and um you were like, uh you want to follow me?
- 3:02SPEAKER_09: And I'm like, Yeah, I guess so.
- 3:03SPEAKER_09: You can well that may have been a mistake for you.
- 3:06SPEAKER_09: Well, it was you know, it wasn't a mistake.
- 3:09SPEAKER_09: Um but man, I thought we were I thought we were gonna take the interstate for longer than we had, but you turned off right after we got out of Bangor.
- 3:19SPEAKER_13: Well, that's what the Google map said.
- 3:21SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 3:22SPEAKER_13: But I think that's because it was uh it was rush hour.
- 3:27SPEAKER_09: Maybe because it was trying to avoid the traffic.
- 3:29SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it was trying to avoid the traffic.
- 3:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's probably true.
- 3:32SPEAKER_13: Because it was getting what was that?
- 3:35SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: I think it was a kangaroo.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: He was just kind of hovering.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Um I like tiggers, tiggers like hopped.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Because jump is what tigers do best.
- 3:46SPEAKER_13: Bounce it what tiggers do best.
- 3:49SPEAKER_13: Where do you go?
- 3:50SPEAKER_13: Who is it?
- 3:50SPEAKER_13: Was it Eli?
- 3:51SPEAKER_09: Eli, yeah, I think he probably went to get to get some food or something.
- 3:56SPEAKER_13: Eli! Give me a steak! Give it get a bag of chips! All that and a bag of chips.
- 4:07SPEAKER_09: He went to the the pantry back there, I think.
- 4:10SPEAKER_13: What do you got?
- 4:12SPEAKER_09: Oh, what is it?
- 4:13SPEAKER_09: Oh, it's oatmeal.
- 4:14SPEAKER_09: Oatmeal.
- 4:15SPEAKER_13: I thought those were all gone.
- 4:21SPEAKER_09: You had a what?
- 4:23SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 4:24SPEAKER_09: Smart.
- 4:24SPEAKER_09: I'll remember that.
- 4:25SPEAKER_13: Smart, man.
- 4:27SPEAKER_09: So uh yeah, you took a turn, and yeah, you're probably right, because my my um Google Maps didn't say to turn.
- 4:35SPEAKER_09: My goal uh because I was doing that too.
- 4:36SPEAKER_13: Yeah, because when I left, I went straight to the I almost straight to the interstate.
- 4:42SPEAKER_13: I didn't take the way back that we came.
- 4:44SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 4:44SPEAKER_13: I went to Augusta and got back on the interstate right outside August.
- 4:49SPEAKER_09: Now I think because I was when when when I left uh Saturday morning um to come back, I think I went the back the way we came.
- 5:00SPEAKER_13: You might have.
- 5:00SPEAKER_13: It was like the earth.
- 5:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_09: It was.
- 5:03SPEAKER_13: No, I was a pretty much I was pretty much a straight shot to Augusta when I got back on the interstate thing.
- 5:08SPEAKER_09: We didn't really tell anybody w where we were going.
- 5:11SPEAKER_09: We did because I mean we just said we were.
- 5:13SPEAKER_13: I think they just assumed that they knew.
- 5:15SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 5:15SPEAKER_13: You know, if you're if you're a loyal listener, then you know.
- 5:18SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 5:18SPEAKER_09: We went to see John Hyatt.
- 5:20SPEAKER_09: Uh John Hyatt was uh doing a solo acoustic performance uh at the opera house in Booth Bay Harbor, which is obviously down on the coast.
- 5:30SPEAKER_13: Um and which is on a one-way street, which was really, really, really, really, really terrible parking.
- 5:37SPEAKER_13: Oh my word.
- 5:38SPEAKER_09: I mean, how does anybody park there?
- 5:40SPEAKER_13: I don't know.
- 5:40SPEAKER_13: How do you how do you even I mean it's uh it's not a big place, mind you, not a big place.
- 5:44SPEAKER_13: No, and it's a lovely place.
- 5:46SPEAKER_13: Yep, it's very historic.
- 5:47SPEAKER_13: Yep.
- 5:48SPEAKER_13: The bar upstairs is beautiful.
- 5:49SPEAKER_13: I didn't get to see the bar.
- 5:50SPEAKER_13: You should have, man.
- 5:51SPEAKER_13: You should have just gone up, just saw it, man.
- 5:52SPEAKER_13: I should because it was awesome.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:54SPEAKER_13: But uh yeah, I mean, parking is terrible.
- 5:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_13: You know, just terrible.
- 5:59SPEAKER_13: But uh, you know, whatever.
- 6:00SPEAKER_13: Or if you're Charles Barkley, terrible.
- 6:02SPEAKER_09: Terrible.
- 6:03SPEAKER_09: So yeah, we got there and um we got there just in time, actually.
- 6:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we were pretty close to the line started and we got in the line and saw John's bus.
- 6:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was pretty cool.
- 6:13SPEAKER_09: It was a very cool bus.
- 6:14SPEAKER_13: That's a nice bus.
- 6:16SPEAKER_09: And nice bus.
- 6:18SPEAKER_09: Got some decent seats we could hear and see everything.
- 6:20SPEAKER_13: And well, we were sitting right well, well, we're music nerds, so we sat in front of the soundboard.
- 6:25SPEAKER_09: We did, we sat in front of the sound guy.
- 6:27SPEAKER_09: Um and and actually Bob asked me before we started, um, so what songs are you hoping to hear?
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: And I said, you know, it's funny because you know, obviously I like all of the cult classic John Hyatt songs that everybody knows.
- 6:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:45SPEAKER_09: And so I said, I I'd really like to hear more album cuts.
- 6:49SPEAKER_09: I'd I'd like to hear something a little more obscure.
- 6:52SPEAKER_09: He's like, like what?
- 6:53SPEAKER_09: I said, Well, there's one of my favorite John Hyatt songs that Bonnie Raid did.
- 7:00SPEAKER_09: Um it's called Lover's Will.
- 7:03SPEAKER_09: I don't know if you've ever heard that song.
- 7:04SPEAKER_13: I'm not sure.
- 7:05SPEAKER_09: I might have, but I'm it's it's uh and I may actually play it just because I want you to hear it.
- 7:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:10SPEAKER_09: Um but I said, I want to hear that, or there's a song on uh Slow Turning called Trudy and Dave.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: Um and you know, I and I mentioned a couple of things.
- 7:19SPEAKER_09: Wasn't the second song he played, Trudy and Dave?
- 7:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I'd never heard that song.
- 7:23SPEAKER_09: Uh and you really couldn't uh you really couldn't appreciate it there because you r you know he sang it in such a way where you couldn't really understand uh the lyrics.
- 7:34SPEAKER_09: Um what a great guitar player though.
- 7:36SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, he's fantastic.
- 7:38SPEAKER_09: I forgot how good a guitar player he was or is uh because he was he was smoking, man.
- 7:44SPEAKER_09: That was that was that was cool.
- 7:45SPEAKER_09: Uh Trudy and Dave.
- 7:47SPEAKER_09: Um actually I won't play the song because well I mean I could play the song, I guess.
- 7:52SPEAKER_13: But Well, I'd like to hear the original.
- 7:54SPEAKER_13: I've never heard the original.
- 7:55SPEAKER_13: Well then let's do that.
- 7:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 7:56SPEAKER_13: Um let me get uh I mean I've only heard the acoustic version now.
- 8:01SPEAKER_13: But I'd like to hear the already doll.
- 8:04SPEAKER_09: I wanted to um have the have the lyrics ready.
- 8:07SPEAKER_09: Um in case you didn't uh uh in case you didn't know what it was about.
- 8:12SPEAKER_09: It's it's kind of a it's you know, it's a typical Hyatt song.
- 8:15SPEAKER_09: It's uh let me get it here because actually the way he played it, um you wouldn't necessarily uh recognize it because he would well maybe you will.
- 8:29SPEAKER_09: Because it is largely uh acoustic.
- 8:32SPEAKER_09: But it's got obviously it's got uh the goners on it.
- 8:37SPEAKER_09: So let's see.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: There it is.
- 8:43SPEAKER_09: Here we go, truting day.
- 8:50SPEAKER_09: So this is about well, I don't know if I want to tell you what it's about.
- 8:57SPEAKER_09: I wanna see if you can.
- 9:01SPEAKER_09: I've got the lyrics here.
- 9:07SPEAKER_09: There's that little riff that I got.
- 10:27SPEAKER_09: Not really.
- 10:28SPEAKER_09: It's a little hard to understand.
- 10:29SPEAKER_09: So let me let me read it to you.
- 10:30SPEAKER_09: So whatever you do, don't follow that shot.
- 10:32SPEAKER_09: She rang those words out with all she got.
- 10:35SPEAKER_09: With a baby and the laundry in the Chevrolet, well, he thought about following anyway.
- 10:40SPEAKER_09: But he drove him to the strip mall laundromat in his three day beard and his red man hat.
- 10:45SPEAKER_09: Trudy washed their bell bottom jeans while that baby just sat there looking mean.
- 10:49SPEAKER_09: Trudy and Dave they're out of their minds.
- 10:51SPEAKER_09: Well, David lit a match to a lucky strike and the smoke curled up round his head how he liked.
- 10:57SPEAKER_09: It made him feel a little mysterious till Trudy said, David, honey, what about us?
- 11:02SPEAKER_09: So he thought about them and those shots ringing out and other things he shouldn't be thinking about, like how it wasn't them at all, just life that was mean, and how a twenty dollar pistol made him feel so clean.
- 11:13SPEAKER_09: And then didn't mean to do it, baby, but I did it for love.
- 11:16SPEAKER_09: The same shot his daddy heard before him, a shot that can really blow you away.
- 11:20SPEAKER_09: And when it is fired, his mama told him, David, you'll follow it to your grave.
- 11:24SPEAKER_09: Well, Trudy and Dave, those crazy kids had a baby of their own, and you heard what they did.
- 11:29SPEAKER_09: In the middle of a strip mall, shots rang out, shots heard all over the world, no doubt.
- 11:34SPEAKER_09: Because it was there in the paper the very next day about a couple and a baby in a Chevrolet who shot up an automatic teller machine, took the money for the laundry, and drove away clean.
- 11:48SPEAKER_09: That's John Hyatt.
- 11:49SPEAKER_09: That's a John Hyatt song.
- 11:50SPEAKER_09: That's a John Hyatt song, man.
- 11:51SPEAKER_09: So anyway, he started into that.
- 11:53SPEAKER_09: And I'm and and I'm like, This is Judy and Dave.
- 11:55SPEAKER_09: And Bob's like, hey, you got your wish.
- 11:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was kind of cool.
- 11:59SPEAKER_09: It was kind of cool.
- 11:59SPEAKER_09: And actually, I'm in that I told you I was in that John Hyatt group.
- 12:02SPEAKER_13: Um did you did you post the sat list?
- 12:04SPEAKER_09: Oh, yes, I posted the satellist and pictures of us and pictures that I took there.
- 12:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_09: Um, and a bunch of people commented, actually, let me read you those comments because it's kind of neat.
- 12:13SPEAKER_09: It's kind of a neat little community of uh John Hyatt fans.
- 12:17SPEAKER_09: Um where am I going?
- 12:22SPEAKER_09: Right there, John Hyatt fans.
- 12:25SPEAKER_09: Um yeah, there's us.
- 12:28SPEAKER_14: Oh no.
- 12:29SPEAKER_09: Oh no.
- 12:30SPEAKER_09: And actually the host of the John Hyatt podcast, a perfectly good podcast, she was one of the first to comment.
- 12:35SPEAKER_09: Oh right.
- 12:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah, she said, uh uh, let's see, where is it here?
- 12:39SPEAKER_09: Thanks for posting.
- 12:40SPEAKER_09: I love the picture of you and your friends.
- 12:42SPEAKER_09: Nothing beats live music excitement.
- 12:44SPEAKER_09: Which is true.
- 12:46SPEAKER_13: That is true.
- 12:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 12:47SPEAKER_09: Um then somebody, somebody, somebody tagged uh Corey Nixon tagged Barry Nixon.
- 12:53SPEAKER_09: He played Trudy and Dave and Icy Blue Heart and It'll Come to You, which I've never heard him play either.
- 12:59SPEAKER_09: That was another thing.
- 13:00SPEAKER_09: He played Icy Blue Heart.
- 13:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_09: And it'll come to you.
- 13:02SPEAKER_09: I think, but I did see on a set list before that he had played It'll Come to You.
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: But Icy Blue Heart, man.
- 13:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was great.
- 13:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: Uh what do we do now as a longtime fave?
- 13:12SPEAKER_09: Great set list, not sure what I'd add.
- 13:14SPEAKER_09: Maybe Master of Disaster, Stolden Moments, Train to Birmingham, or oh crap, they're all so good.
- 13:18SPEAKER_09: He'd have to play for hours and hours.
- 13:20SPEAKER_09: So grateful to have here at the Opera House.
- 13:22SPEAKER_09: Great show.
- 13:22SPEAKER_09: Thank you, John.
- 13:23SPEAKER_09: That's such a great place for that show.
- 13:24SPEAKER_09: We've seen Rodney Crowell, Richard Thompson, Asleep at the Wheel.
- 13:28SPEAKER_09: Uh age doesn't matter.
- 13:29SPEAKER_09: When you see a favorite musician, you're 15 years old again, which is so true.
- 13:33SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 13:34SPEAKER_09: Um but yeah, so we got a lot of great reactions.
- 13:38SPEAKER_09: I got uh 49 likes or hearts or whatever.
- 13:44SPEAKER_09: So yeah.
- 13:44SPEAKER_09: Um but yeah, so though that those were surprises.
- 13:48SPEAKER_09: I see Blue Heart, Trudy and Dave was a surprise.
- 13:51SPEAKER_09: Um really expecting I wasn't expecting anything, you know, I was just expecting him to play whatever.
- 14:01SPEAKER_13: I will tell you it doesn't matter what John Hyatt plays.
- 14:03SPEAKER_09: No, it doesn't.
- 14:04SPEAKER_09: I will tell you, uh when he first started singing, I was worried because it was almost like he was whispering.
- 14:11SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 14:12SPEAKER_13: Like his voice I think he had to warm up.
- 14:14SPEAKER_13: Maybe that's what it was.
- 14:15SPEAKER_09: But later on he got into Oh yeah, halfway, maybe not even halfway through.
- 14:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah, his voice came back and he was he was you know the it's a long tour.
- 14:25SPEAKER_13: You gotta tell you.
- 14:26SPEAKER_09: He's also 71, 72 years old.
- 14:28SPEAKER_09: He's in his 70s now.
- 14:29SPEAKER_13: He's no spring chicken.
- 14:30SPEAKER_13: Yeah, you know, it does the the voice does not bounce back like it used to.
- 14:34SPEAKER_09: Right, but you know, but he got there.
- 14:36SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, he got there too.
- 14:37SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 14:38SPEAKER_09: By by the encore, it was like yeah, it was wasn't much of a uh wait for the encore.
- 14:44SPEAKER_09: He just pretty awesome.
- 14:45SPEAKER_13: He just like got up, walked off, came back.
- 14:47SPEAKER_13: Came right back.
- 14:48SPEAKER_09: I was like, okay, I guess this is the encore.
- 14:51SPEAKER_09: There we go.
- 14:52SPEAKER_09: But yeah, he played for a good two hours anyway.
- 14:55SPEAKER_13: No, actually, no.
- 14:56SPEAKER_09: Not quite?
- 14:57SPEAKER_13: No, maybe an hour and a half.
- 14:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 14:59SPEAKER_13: Because he started a little late.
- 15:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:02SPEAKER_13: And we were out in the parking lot by ten after nine.
- 15:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:06SPEAKER_13: So it was it was about an hour and a half roughly.
- 15:08SPEAKER_09: Great storyteller.
- 15:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:10SPEAKER_09: Funny.
- 15:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_13: He's really funny.
- 15:12SPEAKER_13: And it was interesting to hear his uh, you know, because he was supposed to be on tour last year and had that fall.
- 15:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_13: And nobody realized how bad it was.
- 15:21SPEAKER_09: How extensive it was.
- 15:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:22SPEAKER_13: It was a pretty bad fall.
- 15:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 15:24SPEAKER_13: You know, and uh so when he told the story, I was like, wow, you are a lucky man.
- 15:28SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_13: You know, so it was good.
- 15:31SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 15:31SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 15:31SPEAKER_09: It was good to have him.
- 15:32SPEAKER_13: No, no, he was, you know.
- 15:33SPEAKER_09: Back in the saddle.
- 15:34SPEAKER_13: It was really it was really cool because he would like he would like play his, you know, and then you know, he'd do whatever, and maybe put the cape on, then he he'd play a chord, and then he started to tell a story, and then you know, you'd think he was done, he'd play another chord, and then he'd continue the story, you know.
- 15:49SPEAKER_09: So yeah, no, it was it was great to see him, and we'd seen him a few times anyway, but but actually that was your second?
- 15:55SPEAKER_13: That was my second time.
- 15:55SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it was my th I think but it was it was nice to see him just it was just him and just him.
- 15:59SPEAKER_13: Just him.
- 16:00SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_13: And it was great.
- 16:01SPEAKER_09: First time I saw him, it was just him.
- 16:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:03SPEAKER_09: Uh it was at State Theater in Portland, right?
- 16:05SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 16:06SPEAKER_09: Ray Lamontaine opened.
- 16:08SPEAKER_09: Um and and and he just it was he just came out with an acoustic guitar.
- 16:12SPEAKER_09: And that was great.
- 16:13SPEAKER_09: I did like seeing him with the band in Freeport.
- 16:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was fun.
- 16:16SPEAKER_09: You know, with the with the Angels Beauties.
- 16:19SPEAKER_09: Angels Beauties, yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_09: I did like seeing that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_09: Um it was it was good to see him in that um that realm as well.
- 16:25SPEAKER_09: Uh so anyway, yeah, um, and then so I didn't tell you, so I got up.
- 16:29SPEAKER_09: Actually, Bob kept me up until after midnight.
- 16:32SPEAKER_13: Not surprised.
- 16:33SPEAKER_09: Uh I was.
- 16:35SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 16:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_09: No.
- 16:36SPEAKER_09: I just because I mean it has been a while since I've seen Bob.
- 16:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_09: But uh I w I walked in, he poured me a drink.
- 16:45SPEAKER_09: I don't drink, but he poured me a whiskey and Sprite.
- 16:49SPEAKER_09: And I said, Okay.
- 16:50SPEAKER_09: So, but it was fine.
- 16:51SPEAKER_09: It was it was good.
- 16:52SPEAKER_09: We sat and we talked, and uh um we talked about a lot of stuff, and then I think it was about 12 30.
- 16:59SPEAKER_09: And I said, Oh dude, I gotta go to bed.
- 17:03SPEAKER_09: So I did.
- 17:04SPEAKER_09: Um I ended up getting up around six and he made me breakfast, which was very cool.
- 17:10SPEAKER_09: He always does it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_13: Yeah, he did that for me when I went to see him uh in September.
- 17:14SPEAKER_09: So it was I and I'd never seen anybody make make pancakes like he does.
- 17:19SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's an interesting technique.
- 17:21SPEAKER_09: So he has this this plate and maybe you're maybe you're familiar with this.
- 17:26SPEAKER_09: So he cooks the pancakes and he puts them on a plate and he puts a plate in the oven.
- 17:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 17:31SPEAKER_09: Just and I was like, I did have to stop him.
- 17:33SPEAKER_09: I said why why are you what are you doing?
- 17:36SPEAKER_09: He said, I'm just keeping them warm.
- 17:38SPEAKER_09: I'm like, oh I suppose that makes sense.
- 17:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 17:41SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 17:42SPEAKER_13: So well Bob, everything Bob does is unique.
- 17:44SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 17:45SPEAKER_09: He wanted to take me down to um the um the wharf and show me the lobster boats and show me a bunch of stuff, so we took a ride down and uh Well you live like a hop skip and a jump from the ocean.
- 17:58SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah, it's right there.
- 17:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_09: And uh, you know, uh it was great.
- 18:03SPEAKER_09: And it was it was, you know, I don't think I could live there.
- 18:06SPEAKER_09: Just because it's not my thing.
- 18:08SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 18:08SPEAKER_09: But he's in the right place.
- 18:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's perfect for that.
- 18:11SPEAKER_09: He's where he needs to be.
- 18:12SPEAKER_09: Oh, and you'll be happy to know that he's painting again.
- 18:16SPEAKER_13: Oh is good for him.
- 18:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so he's he would he'd be like taking pictures of of uh you know scenic pictures and everything, and he brings the pictures uh back and and paints them.
- 18:27SPEAKER_09: And he's he says he's just getting back into it and he's trying to find his you know his thing.
- 18:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and uh but they're great.
- 18:34SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah, he's he's always I mean Bob's a great artist.
- 18:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, always has been, yeah.
- 18:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:39SPEAKER_09: So I was happy to hear that and happy to see that.
- 18:41SPEAKER_09: So um but yeah.
- 18:44SPEAKER_09: So and then and then I we've we figured out what route I was taking and uh and I took off and got to the track meet just in time.
- 18:52SPEAKER_09: Oh good to uh I don't know if you can see.
- 18:54SPEAKER_09: Probably not.
- 18:56SPEAKER_09: No.
- 18:56SPEAKER_09: The backs of my legs are all burned.
- 19:00SPEAKER_09: You burned the back of your legs.
- 19:01SPEAKER_09: Well I didn't put any sunscreen on the back of my leg.
- 19:03SPEAKER_09: Or the or my legs.
- 19:04SPEAKER_09: I put sunscreen on my arms and on the back of my neck.
- 19:07SPEAKER_09: But uh, you know, I s I said my legs are white, I'm just gonna let 'em.
- 19:10SPEAKER_09: You know.
- 19:11SPEAKER_09: But yeah, the back of them burned.
- 19:13SPEAKER_09: Because I was you can't really see.
- 19:15SPEAKER_09: I think it's probably not too bad right now.
- 19:18SPEAKER_13: No, you can barely tell.
- 19:19SPEAKER_13: Oh, now you can.
- 19:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah, now you can.
- 19:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:22SPEAKER_09: So anyway, and then my wife got sunburned as well.
- 19:25SPEAKER_09: Eli got a bunch of PRs, a bunch of personal records.
- 19:29SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 19:29SPEAKER_09: Um, for track made states.
- 19:31SPEAKER_13: Oh, nice.
- 19:32SPEAKER_09: So we may be going back down.
- 19:34SPEAKER_09: Guess you're going back down this weekend.
- 19:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 19:37SPEAKER_09: So, but it's good.
- 19:38SPEAKER_09: It's all good.
- 19:39SPEAKER_09: He got uh he got his uh personal record in um the javelin and the 300 uh hurdles.
- 19:46SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 19:46SPEAKER_09: Yep, so good for him.
- 19:47SPEAKER_09: Yep, very cool.
- 19:48SPEAKER_09: And then I came back and sang country music that night down at uh W uh Wendy's.
- 19:53SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 19:53SPEAKER_09: Kevin and Wendy's.
- 19:54SPEAKER_09: Good, good.
- 19:54SPEAKER_09: So I made that.
- 19:55SPEAKER_09: And while I was doing all that, you drove back the night before.
- 20:00SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 20:01SPEAKER_09: And got home at what'd you say, 130?
- 20:03SPEAKER_09: 130.
- 20:04SPEAKER_09: 130.
- 20:04SPEAKER_09: Took a nap.
- 20:05SPEAKER_09: Took a nap, went to work.
- 20:07SPEAKER_09: And you were Did you take a nap that afternoon as well?
- 20:09SPEAKER_09: I couldn't.
- 20:10SPEAKER_09: No.
- 20:10SPEAKER_13: No.
- 20:11SPEAKER_13: Oh I made the mistake of uh um buying Mountain Dew.
- 20:18SPEAKER_09: Like sugar-free mountain dew?
- 20:20SPEAKER_09: Of course.
- 20:21SPEAKER_13: I don't drink the regular stuff anymore.
- 20:22SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 20:23SPEAKER_13: I'm not that stupid.
- 20:24SPEAKER_13: I want to live a couple more years.
- 20:26SPEAKER_13: Um but yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_13: So I because it's got you know it's it's caffeine.
- 20:30SPEAKER_13: It's caffeine.
- 20:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 20:31SPEAKER_13: So I had one on the way, but just uh, you know, on the way back.
- 20:35SPEAKER_13: And I don't know what it is about driving on the interstity at night.
- 20:39SPEAKER_13: But um by the time I get to Hol, I'm fine until I get to Holton.
- 20:45SPEAKER_13: Once I hit Holden, I start getting tired.
- 20:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 20:47SPEAKER_09: Don't know.
- 20:48SPEAKER_09: Because you know you're close to the probably home, but whatever.
- 20:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 20:51SPEAKER_13: So I got home 1 30.
- 20:54SPEAKER_13: I got into bed about 2 and then I got up at, you know, 5 15 or something like that to get, you know, get ready for work.
- 21:03SPEAKER_13: And then so I went to work.
- 21:05SPEAKER_09: Were you work where what uh town were you working in?
- 21:07SPEAKER_09: I was in Marshall.
- 21:08SPEAKER_09: Marshall.
- 21:08SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 21:09SPEAKER_13: And then so um so I got done work and I went and did a bunch of stuff, got some errands, I got some lunch, because I I I literally had not eaten since the day before.
- 21:19SPEAKER_13: I ate breakfast Friday morning, and then we went down.
- 21:23SPEAKER_13: Didn't I didn't eat, you know, what because I thought we were gonna get there early enough and go like something to eat, yeah.
- 21:28SPEAKER_13: Get something to eat with Bob.
- 21:29SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 21:29SPEAKER_13: Didn't happen.
- 21:30SPEAKER_13: So I was like, oh man, but so by the time I left, I was like, well, there's no really place here to eat in town, because I don't know what it is about the town.
- 21:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there's no shuts down at night.
- 21:39SPEAKER_09: There's nothing there.
- 21:39SPEAKER_13: You know, I mean they make fun of us.
- 21:41SPEAKER_13: I mean, they're just as bad.
- 21:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_13: You know what I mean?
- 21:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 21:44SPEAKER_13: So I drove all the way to uh I drove all the way up, you know, back, you know, to Augusta, which by the way, your traffic circles suck.
- 21:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 21:53SPEAKER_09: Um the the the um what do you call them roundabouts?
- 21:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_13: They call them traffic circles.
- 21:57SPEAKER_13: I d I yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_13: I call 'em levels of hell.
- 22:00SPEAKER_13: Um but luckily it was late at night, you know, later at night, so it wasn't as crowded, so it was really it wasn't that bad.
- 22:06SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 22:07SPEAKER_13: But still a pain in the butt.
- 22:08SPEAKER_13: Um but there was no I mean there was no restaurants open.
- 22:11SPEAKER_13: I was like, but I mean there's not even a McDonald's or anything open.
- 22:15SPEAKER_13: What what the frick is going on here?
- 22:17SPEAKER_13: So I drove all the way back.
- 22:19SPEAKER_13: By the time I got home, of course it's like 1.30 in the morning, and I'm like, man, I am freaking starving, but I can't eat, I gotta go to bed.
- 22:25SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 22:26SPEAKER_13: So I went to bed and I got up in the morning, I was like, man, I don't have time to eat, I gotta get to work.
- 22:30SPEAKER_13: So I didn't eat till like 1 30 or 2 o'clock or something like that, you know.
- 22:35SPEAKER_13: So I was pretty starving, but I still I still couldn't sleep.
- 22:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 22:39SPEAKER_13: So I stayed up till I don't know, late lately.
- 22:43SPEAKER_09: I didn't eat either.
- 22:44SPEAKER_09: Uh because you know, I as I was driving down there, I didn't I didn't stop at a store or or or you know, uh well, I mean uh I was behind you, so you would have known if I'd stopped anywhere.
- 22:53SPEAKER_09: So I didn't eat uh before the show, and then after the show, Bob's like, Do you want to go somewhere to eat?
- 22:59SPEAKER_09: I'm like, uh, you know, I'll I'll be alright.
- 23:01SPEAKER_09: I'll you know, we'll figure it out.
- 23:03SPEAKER_09: And he says, Well, there's a there's a convenience store we can stop at.
- 23:06SPEAKER_09: It's like an Irving or something.
- 23:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:08SPEAKER_09: Uh, you know, when we get to my town.
- 23:11SPEAKER_09: I said, Okay, whatever.
- 23:13SPEAKER_09: And so we did, we stopped at this convenience store.
- 23:15SPEAKER_09: We went in and they didn't have any like food prepared, which I mean it was nine o'clock at night or nine thirty, whatever.
- 23:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:24SPEAKER_09: Um, and he went and bought a big bag of Doritos and a couple other things, I can't remember what it was, and I'm looking around, I'm like, There's really nothing here that I want to eat at this hour of the evening.
- 23:36SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 23:36SPEAKER_09: So I ended up buying uh just a little package of those uh uh toasted peanut butter crackers.
- 23:42SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:43SPEAKER_09: And I said, Oh, this this I'll just eat this.
- 23:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:46SPEAKER_09: And that's what I had for supper.
- 23:48SPEAKER_09: Nice, basically.
- 23:49SPEAKER_09: So noise.
- 23:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:51SPEAKER_09: Um but it was good.
- 23:53SPEAKER_09: It was a good trip.
- 23:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 23:55SPEAKER_09: Um was was glad to not have to, you know, uh you know, f go to work on Monday morning.
- 24:01SPEAKER_09: Big I took a nap on Sunday afternoon.
- 24:05SPEAKER_09: Um and obviously Monday was Memorial Day, which still some people confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day.
- 24:13SPEAKER_09: It's different.
- 24:14SPEAKER_09: No, it's completely different.
- 24:15SPEAKER_09: Completely different.
- 24:16SPEAKER_09: Uh and that kind of still bugs me that.
- 24:18SPEAKER_13: Well, it it what bugs me is people are like, Happy Memorial Day.
- 24:21SPEAKER_13: And I'm like, what is happy about it exactly?
- 24:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah, exactly.
- 24:26SPEAKER_13: You know, I don't I don't go to your you know, your your aunt's funeral and go, hey, happy funeral here.
- 24:31SPEAKER_09: Well here's the thing.
- 24:32SPEAKER_09: It's because it's a it's a day off.
- 24:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:36SPEAKER_09: You know, and it's it and it's uh people barbecue.
- 24:38SPEAKER_09: It's like the July, it's like, you know, you get a day off, that's all they care about.
- 24:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:43SPEAKER_09: So so it's happy.
- 24:44SPEAKER_09: They're happy to have a day off, but there's a reason they have a day off.
- 24:49SPEAKER_09: It's not necessarily a happy reason.
- 24:50SPEAKER_13: It's not a happy reason, but you know, I mean, I understand, you know, I mean, I'm glad it's because of those people that you can have the day off.
- 24:58SPEAKER_13: Exactly.
- 24:59SPEAKER_13: You can have your barbecue, you can go to the beach, you can go to the you know, the camp or whatever.
- 25:03SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 25:04SPEAKER_13: You know.
- 25:04SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 25:05SPEAKER_13: So as long as you remember that, but a lot of people don't anymore.
- 25:09SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 25:09SPEAKER_13: Because it's becoming a more of a you know.
- 25:13SPEAKER_13: But it is what it is.
- 25:14SPEAKER_13: It is what it is.
- 25:15SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 25:16SPEAKER_09: Um, and then today I had my one of my final concerts, my first and second grade uh elementary concerts, and it went very well.
- 25:24SPEAKER_09: It was very hot in the gym.
- 25:25SPEAKER_09: We've got two concerts left tomorrow, and then I've got no more concerts for the concerts are done.
- 25:31SPEAKER_09: I'm excited about it.
- 25:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 25:34SPEAKER_09: So uh and yeah, so the school year is almost over.
- 25:37SPEAKER_09: So I'm pretty pumped about that.
- 25:38SPEAKER_09: Don't blame you.
- 25:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 25:40SPEAKER_09: What else is going on?
- 25:42SPEAKER_09: Um I got the new slash.
- 25:44SPEAKER_09: You got the new slash.
- 25:46SPEAKER_09: So we have sampled a couple of things uh from the new slash, which is an uh Orgy of the Dance.
- 25:52SPEAKER_09: Orgy of the Dance.
- 25:53SPEAKER_09: It's his new solo album, which essentially is a blues album.
- 25:56SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 25:57SPEAKER_09: It's all blues.
- 25:57SPEAKER_09: Um Brian Johnson from ACDC does Killing Floor.
- 26:00SPEAKER_09: We've we've played that one.
- 26:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:02SPEAKER_13: I know that uh there's a Chris Stapleton one.
- 26:05SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 26:05SPEAKER_13: That we I think we uh Ohell.
- 26:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:07SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 26:07SPEAKER_09: The old Fleetwood Mac tune with Peter Green.
- 26:09SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 26:10SPEAKER_09: Um I know Beth Hart is on it.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: I haven't heard it, but there's Demi Lovato was on it.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, and I have heard that, and it's pretty good.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: It is pretty good.
- 26:16SPEAKER_09: Well, she's a great singer.
- 26:17SPEAKER_09: She's a great singer, yes.
- 26:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, she's a great singer anyway.
- 26:20SPEAKER_09: Uh but to hear her in that vein is pretty cool.
- 26:22SPEAKER_13: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:23SPEAKER_13: Um, the whole album is great.
- 26:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:25SPEAKER_09: Start to finish.
- 26:26SPEAKER_09: Can you tell me what other guests are on?
- 26:28SPEAKER_09: I know Steven Tyler's on this on that same track with the show.
- 26:30SPEAKER_13: Yeah, he's on the Brian Johnson track.
- 26:32SPEAKER_13: I I can't remember off the top of my head.
- 26:34SPEAKER_13: I didn't I didn't bring it with me, you know.
- 26:35SPEAKER_13: So it's really great.
- 26:37SPEAKER_13: It's really there's some people on there that I'd never heard of.
- 26:40SPEAKER_13: And uh Yeah.
- 26:41SPEAKER_09: I want I want to get that one.
- 26:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_13: I would definitely get it.
- 26:44SPEAKER_09: Um Have you started reading the Michael McDonald book yet?
- 26:48SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 26:48SPEAKER_09: And it's great.
- 26:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:50SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 26:51SPEAKER_09: Any nuggets?
- 26:52SPEAKER_09: Probably.
- 26:52SPEAKER_09: No, not yet.
- 26:53SPEAKER_09: Not yet.
- 26:53SPEAKER_09: It's still early.
- 26:54SPEAKER_13: He's he's he's took he started taking piano lessons.
- 26:57SPEAKER_09: I do have a Michael McDonald moment, so remind me.
- 26:59SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 27:00SPEAKER_09: Uh uh actually, do you want to do that next time?
- 27:01SPEAKER_09: I will do it right now.
- 27:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, let's do it right now.
- 27:03SPEAKER_09: Okay, so I'm driving back this weekend, and I'm listening to, you know, I because you know me.
- 27:09SPEAKER_09: I have different moods and I listen to a little bit of everything.
- 27:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 27:13SPEAKER_09: And one of the one of the uh things, one of the guys that I hadn't listened to in a long time was the Warren Brothers.
- 27:19SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_09: So I start um I go to Spotify and I'm listening.
- 27:29SPEAKER_09: Spotify I went to Spotify.
- 27:31SPEAKER_09: Um Spotify is a the devil.
- 27:33SPEAKER_09: But I uh I did I get the free version of Spotify because I won't pay them because they don't pay artists.
- 27:41SPEAKER_09: But anyway, um I got I got war I put Warren Brothers in Spotify on a playlist or whatever, and you know it just kind of plays random Warren Brothers tunes.
- 27:51SPEAKER_09: And so this song came on.
- 27:53SPEAKER_09: And do you remember that there was a there was a movie with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt, as good as it gets.
- 27:59SPEAKER_13: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_09: And one of the words that he says to her is You make me want to be a better man.
- 28:04SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 28:04SPEAKER_09: That's where the the idea for this song came.
- 28:07SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 28:08SPEAKER_09: So I'm listening to it.
- 28:10SPEAKER_09: Just listen to it for a second.
- 28:14SPEAKER_09: Of the war brothers.
- 28:19SPEAKER_09: Hugely successful uh country songwriting duo.
- 28:23SPEAKER_09: They're brothers, obviously.
- 28:33SPEAKER_09: I've heard this talk before.
- 29:21SPEAKER_09: Actually, that's actually I'm checking for sure now.
- 29:24SPEAKER_09: Because is Michael McDonald singing Texas with Warren Brothers?
- 29:33SPEAKER_09: Because I looked up the song Better Man.
- 29:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and there's a Wikipedia for the actual song, and it doesn't say anything like him singing with him.
- 29:42SPEAKER_09: That's Michael McDonald.
- 29:44SPEAKER_09: I know it is.

- 46:21SPEAKER_13: Man, it's about time.
- 46:22SPEAKER_13: That thing is dead.
- 46:24SPEAKER_13: We need to bury it in the backyard.
- 46:26SPEAKER_09: You're you're on a um mega yacht.
- 46:31SPEAKER_09: No, big yacht, big yacht, mega yacht.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:33SPEAKER_09: Uh all by yourself.
- 46:34SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 46:35SPEAKER_09: Uh on the ocean.
- 46:36SPEAKER_09: The sun is setting.
- 46:36SPEAKER_09: The sun is setting.
- 46:37SPEAKER_09: What song is playing?
- 46:38SPEAKER_09: What song is playing?
- 46:39SPEAKER_09: My answer was and and I regretted my answer.
- 46:42SPEAKER_09: Actually, I didn't regret my answer, but you guys, your answers to me were were better.
- 46:46SPEAKER_09: I still like my answer.
- 46:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:48SPEAKER_09: Crosby Steels Nash, um, Southern Cross.
- 46:51SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 46:52SPEAKER_09: And your answer was Sailing.
- 46:54SPEAKER_09: Sailing by Christopher Cross.
- 46:56SPEAKER_09: Christopher Cross.
- 46:56SPEAKER_09: And Cousin Larry's answer was Um Cool Change.
- 47:00SPEAKER_09: Little R Little River Band, Cool Change.
- 47:02SPEAKER_09: All great answers, I think.
- 47:04SPEAKER_13: I think so too.
- 47:05SPEAKER_09: What did your third party uh what was what was your third party's impression?
- 47:10SPEAKER_13: Third party judged you as the winner.
- 47:15SPEAKER_13: Seriously?
- 47:15SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 47:17SPEAKER_13: Wow.
- 47:19SPEAKER_09: You're not gonna tell me who the third party is, are you?
- 47:21SPEAKER_09: Nope.
- 47:22SPEAKER_09: Nope.
- 47:23SPEAKER_09: Well, the third party has fantastic taste.
- 47:25SPEAKER_13: I'm telling you.
- 47:27SPEAKER_13: That's why I chose this person.
- 47:28SPEAKER_09: Um I do, I still think your choice was the the winner.
- 47:33SPEAKER_09: In my opinion.
- 47:34SPEAKER_09: Sure.
- 47:34SPEAKER_09: Um if I had had more time, I I might have come in.
- 47:38SPEAKER_13: Well, apparently you didn't need more time because you won.
- 47:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 47:40SPEAKER_09: Wait, are we keeping a tally?
- 47:42SPEAKER_09: No.
- 47:42SPEAKER_09: No.
- 47:42SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 47:43SPEAKER_13: You won that, you won that day.
- 47:44SPEAKER_13: Whatever.
- 47:45SPEAKER_13: Whatever, you know.
- 47:46SPEAKER_09: Um so yeah.
- 47:48SPEAKER_09: Well, that's cool.
- 47:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_09: So congratulations.
- 47:51SPEAKER_09: And this week's question remind me what it was.
- 47:56SPEAKER_13: I know I I I uh if you're on a desert island, you get one Motown song.
- 48:00SPEAKER_09: One Motown song.
- 48:01SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 48:03SPEAKER_09: Um I have picked mine, but we haven't heard from Cousin Larry.
- 48:06SPEAKER_09: I still haven't heard from Cousin Larry.
- 48:07SPEAKER_09: Did you m did you message him?
- 48:08SPEAKER_13: Yes, I did.
- 48:09SPEAKER_09: You did.
- 48:09SPEAKER_13: Like an hour ago, an hour and a half ago now.
- 48:11SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 48:11SPEAKER_13: So I don't know where he is at.
- 48:13SPEAKER_13: Maybe Wyoming ran out of internet.
- 48:15SPEAKER_09: So maybe maybe we can maybe what we can do is we can give our answers.
- 48:19SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 48:20SPEAKER_09: And uh the third party can listen to the podcast.
- 48:25SPEAKER_13: Well, but the third party's not gonna know Cousin Larry's answer.
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: Right, well, so what I'm saying is um either once we find out cousin Larry's answer, you can contact the third party and tell them what it is.
- 48:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah, okay, I can do that.
- 48:40SPEAKER_09: Or or next podcast, we can tell what cousin Larry said and you can contact the third party.
- 48:50SPEAKER_09: I think I think it's better.
- 48:52SPEAKER_13: I'll just wait until I hear back from them.
- 48:53SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 48:54SPEAKER_13: I'll just let them know.
- 48:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:55SPEAKER_09: That's a good idea.
- 48:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:56SPEAKER_09: Alright, so do you want to go first?
- 48:58SPEAKER_13: No.
- 49:00SPEAKER_09: Why?
- 49:01SPEAKER_13: Because you went first last time and you won.
- 49:04SPEAKER_09: So don't you want to go first?
- 49:05SPEAKER_09: So you maybe maybe you'll win?
- 49:07SPEAKER_13: I don't because that will skew the results and we won't know.
- 49:11SPEAKER_13: If we have to do the exact same thing.
- 49:15SPEAKER_09: So that's superstition, is basically what it is.
- 49:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 49:17SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 49:18SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 49:19SPEAKER_09: So, on a desert island, you only have one Motown song to this was hard.
- 49:26SPEAKER_09: It was hard, because you know Motown is I mean, I love Motown.
- 49:31SPEAKER_09: Um But if I had to pick one, and and it's also kind of it's kind of tongue in cheek, I guess.
- 49:40SPEAKER_09: Um not tongue in cheek, but kind of a play on the fact that we're on a desert island.
- 49:45SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 50:35SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 50:35SPEAKER_09: It's a wrecking crew, right?
- 50:37SPEAKER_09: No, no, no, Funk Brothers, Funk Brothers, that's right.
- 50:44SPEAKER_09: Let's see, it's kind of like I I I thought of it because I love the song.
- 50:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_09: And um I just thought it was kind of uh appropriate.
- 50:55SPEAKER_09: It's the same old song over and over and over and over again.
- 50:59SPEAKER_09: Um have I ever played you?
- 51:03SPEAKER_09: I must have.
- 51:05SPEAKER_09: Um there is a cool cover of it.
- 51:11SPEAKER_09: Um maybe I haven't played it for you.
- 51:15SPEAKER_09: Obviously, I like the uh Motown version better, but while I'm right here.
- 51:22SPEAKER_09: Like one of my favorite folk artists, Dave Wilcox.
- 51:25SPEAKER_09: Ah, David Wilcox.
- 51:28SPEAKER_09: Listen to this.
- 52:13SPEAKER_15: What's that red right here?
- 52:16SPEAKER_09: Uh right.
- 52:22SPEAKER_09: Uh, so yeah, that is my choice.
- 52:24SPEAKER_09: If I was on a desert island, I would pick the four tops.
- 52:27SPEAKER_09: It's the same old song.
- 52:28SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 52:29SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 52:29SPEAKER_13: What's yours?
- 52:30SPEAKER_13: Mine is the temptations.
- 52:32SPEAKER_13: Okay, hold on.
- 52:33SPEAKER_13: Hold on, don't tell me yet.
- 52:34SPEAKER_13: All right.
- 52:34SPEAKER_09: Because I want to get it queued up here so I can I can play it.
- 52:37SPEAKER_09: I know I have some temptations in here.
- 52:39SPEAKER_09: Let's see.
- 52:41SPEAKER_09: Alright, what is it?
- 52:42SPEAKER_09: Ain't too proud to beg.
- 52:44SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 52:45SPEAKER_09: Great song.
- 53:36SPEAKER_09: Can't go wrong with a Motel.
- 53:38SPEAKER_09: Nah, my word.
- 53:39SPEAKER_09: I know, right?
- 53:40SPEAKER_09: Um Stones did a version of this.
- 53:43SPEAKER_09: Rolling Stones.
- 53:44SPEAKER_09: Uh, somebody else did a version of this too.
- 53:46SPEAKER_09: I don't have the Stones version where I'd play it, but yeah.
- 53:53SPEAKER_09: You can't go wrong.
- 53:54SPEAKER_09: I mean, it's that sound.
- 53:55SPEAKER_09: It's that sound and the vibe that you get from Motown.
- 53:58SPEAKER_09: So there you go.
- 53:59SPEAKER_09: Four tops.
- 53:59SPEAKER_09: I picked four tops.
- 54:00SPEAKER_09: You picked the Temptation.
- 54:01SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 54:02SPEAKER_09: Uh once again, we don't know what cousin Larry has picked.
- 54:05SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 54:06SPEAKER_09: Um, but as soon as we do, you will notify our authority.
- 54:09SPEAKER_13: I will let her, I will let them know.
- 54:11SPEAKER_13: So.
- 54:11SPEAKER_09: Oh, so it's a her.
- 54:12SPEAKER_09: Ah, you let that slip.
- 54:13SPEAKER_13: Yeah, well, that's fine.
- 54:15SPEAKER_13: But you don't know.
- 54:16SPEAKER_09: I don't I don't know them or I don't know who it is.
- 54:19SPEAKER_13: You don't know either way.
- 54:20SPEAKER_13: Oh, I don't know them at all.
- 54:21SPEAKER_13: No.
- 54:22SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.
- 54:23SPEAKER_09: That's why I picked that person.
- 54:26SPEAKER_09: Is this person in our age bracket?
- 54:28SPEAKER_09: Nope.
- 54:28SPEAKER_09: Is this person really young?
- 54:30SPEAKER_09: No.
- 54:31SPEAKER_09: Is this person in the 30s?
- 54:33SPEAKER_13: Yes.
- 54:34SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 54:35SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 54:36SPEAKER_09: That's probably a good age, actually.
- 54:37SPEAKER_13: I picked this person because they're very analytical because of their job.
- 54:41SPEAKER_13: But they're also very open-minded and they love music.
- 54:44SPEAKER_13: So.
- 54:45SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 54:46SPEAKER_09: I like this person already.
- 54:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah, see?
- 54:49SPEAKER_09: Um.
- 54:49SPEAKER_09: She's very cool.
- 54:50SPEAKER_09: So.
- 54:51SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 54:51SPEAKER_09: So there we go.
- 54:52SPEAKER_09: That's mixtape for this week.
- 54:54SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 54:55SPEAKER_13: We have our cousin Larry's answer, and you're going to notify her once we do.
- 55:01SPEAKER_09: Alright, cool.

- 55:15SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.

- 55:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah, we were we were concentrating on Hyatt.
- 55:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah.

- 56:52SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 56:52SPEAKER_13: So uh let me do that right now.
- 56:54SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 56:54SPEAKER_13: So I'm gonna just randomly pick a fresh card.
- 57:03SPEAKER_13: Oh, this is a cool one.
- 57:06SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 57:10SPEAKER_13: It's it's worded a little weird, but I I th I think it's cool.
- 57:15SPEAKER_13: Hearing through a rainy window song.
- 57:19SPEAKER_13: Oh.
- 57:19SPEAKER_13: So it's raining, you're looking through the, you know, the rain's coming down on the window.
- 57:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 57:23SPEAKER_13: You're looking through what song is playing.
- 57:27SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 57:27SPEAKER_09: That's interesting.
- 57:28SPEAKER_09: I can tell you the one that I'm not gonna tell you, but one popped in my head just like automatically, and I don't know.
- 57:34SPEAKER_09: I don't know why it popped into my head, but it did.
- 57:39SPEAKER_09: So I think that's probably what it was.
- 57:43SPEAKER_09: So I think that's what I'll go with for next week.
- 57:45SPEAKER_09: So do you have one in your head already?
- 57:47SPEAKER_09: No.
- 57:47SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 57:48SPEAKER_13: Um that's a question for next time.
- 57:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 57:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I'll think about it, but that's the there's one that popped into my head.
- 57:57SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 57:58SPEAKER_09: Um, okay.
- 58:00SPEAKER_09: So yeah.
- 58:01SPEAKER_09: It's time to climb the wall of tunes.
- 58:03SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 58:03SPEAKER_09: Um, I'm gonna play the music right now.
- 58:06SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 58:07SPEAKER_09: You hit it.
- 58:07SPEAKER_13: Okay, there's a it's wonderful.
- 58:12SPEAKER_09: So it's loverly.
- 58:14SPEAKER_09: When this music uh is finished, which should be just a second from now, I'm going to take off my headphones.
- 58:18SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna climb the wall.
- 58:19SPEAKER_09: And while we do that, you're going to read from I'm going to read you a story.
- 58:25SPEAKER_09: A Hard Days Right.
- 58:26SPEAKER_13: Hard Days Right by Steve Turner.
- 58:28SPEAKER_09: Uh Alright, you do it.
- 58:31SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna take off my headphones.
- 58:32SPEAKER_13: Okay.
- 58:33SPEAKER_13: Alright.
- 58:34SPEAKER_13: Today's Beatles song is Across the Universe from uh Let It Be.
- 58:41SPEAKER_13: Uh, the oldest song on the Let It Be album Across the Universe was recorded in February 1968 and first featured on a charity album for the World Wildlife Fund in December 1969.
- 58:54SPEAKER_13: I didn't know that.
- 58:57SPEAKER_13: Yeah, right there.
- 58:58SPEAKER_13: A song about writing songs, or at least about the wonders of the creative process, John was often to refer to it as one of his favorite Beatles songs because of the purity of the lyric.
- 59:10SPEAKER_13: The words had come to him while in bed at Kenwood.
- 59:13SPEAKER_13: He had been arguing with Cynthia, and as he lay there trying to sleep, the phrase pools of sorrow, which is right there, waves of joy, came to him and wouldn't leave until he got up and started writing the words down.
- 59:27SPEAKER_13: It drove me out of bed, John said.
- 59:29SPEAKER_13: I didn't want to write it.
- 59:31SPEAKER_13: I was just slightly irritable and couldn't go to sleep.
- 59:34SPEAKER_13: Written after having met the Maroishi Maroishi Mahesh Yogi in England, but before studying with him in India, the chorus makes mention of Guru Dev, who was Maroishi's guru.
- 59:52SPEAKER_13: John wanted this to be the single that the Beatles put out while they were away in India, but lost out to Lady Madonna.
- 59:59SPEAKER_13: David Bowie later recorded a cover version of the uh cover version on his Young Americans album, 1975, on which John played guitar.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_09: I don't think I knew that.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_13: I didn't know that either.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_09: Was that it?
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_09: That's it.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_09: Very cool.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_09: Let's turn this up a bit.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_09: There is a movie called Across the Universe.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_09: And it's really weird.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I think I saw it.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_13: It's I think Sean Penn's in it.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_09: It's strange.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_13: If I remember right.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_09: It's very, very strange.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_09: Earl of word.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_09: Uh okay.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_09: Uh before we uh do the the wall of tunes, I did want to mention a couple things.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_09: Uh so so I didn't talk about what I picked up at Bull Moose the last time that we were there.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_09: Uh I picked up The Jayhawks, Back Roads, and Abandoned Motels.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_09: Love the Jayhawks.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_09: Uh and a Lyle Love It album that I didn't have.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_09: I think I had it at one time, but I I got rid of it.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_09: Uh My Baby Don't Tolerate.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_09: So I bought I picked up those.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_09: But the time I was at Bull Moose before, I forgot that I picked up a few grab bags.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_09: When I was away at Allstate.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_09: What that is, is Bull Moose has these brown paper bags that for for you know they're trying to get rid of all these DVDs and and whatnot.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_13: Well, I think it's stuff that followed out of a case.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_13: Must be or something.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_13: You know, it's just all random.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_09: But they put a lot of stuff in there.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_09: And nobody It's like five bucks.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_09: Everybody streams now.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_09: Nobody watches DVDs, right?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_09: So I'm a sucker.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_09: So yeah, they're like five bucks.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_09: Uh and so let me just tell you what I got in this one.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_09: Uh hold on.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_09: Because I got a couple here.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_09: Uh some of them, um, you know, whatever.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_09: Uh 8 Mile.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_09: The movie?
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_09: MM's 8 Mile.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_09: I've got Grease.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_09: The movie?
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_09: The movie Grease, which I already have, but that's, you know, the movie Grease.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_09: That's cool.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_09: Uh Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible 3.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_13: That was pretty good.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_09: Uh Mystic River.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_09: Speaking of Sean Penn.

- 1:04:18SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I I I would just like I mean, check it out.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_13: I mean if you want to, but if it's anything like Game of Death, where they tried to finish the movie, he because he died during that movie.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_13: Right.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_13: Um there was a scene where Bruce Lee quote unquote because they never they never showed the they got a look alike, basically.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_13: And at one point he's sitting in front of a mirror, he turns to look in the mirror, and you can literally see a cutout picture of Bruce Lee's face where the guy is looking into the mirror.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_13: It you can see it actually taped to the mirror.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_13: That's how bad it was.

- 1:09:30SPEAKER_09: Well, it depends on what you mean by older.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_13: Well, I'm talking like John Lee Hooker or Waters, not that old.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_13: Not that old.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_13: So like 90s blues guy?
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_09: 80s?
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_09: 90s.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_09: 80s, 90s, yeah.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_13: When did when did when did he start coming out with stuff?

- 1:09:56SPEAKER_09: Nope.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_13: Nope.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_13: So higher popularity, would you say it was the 80s?
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_09: Uh 80s and 90s, maybe.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_09: Blues guy.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_09: I think his biggest.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_09: I mean, if I had to say he had a hit, it would have been in the late 80s.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_09: If I'm not mistaken, anyway.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_12: Does he sing on?
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_13: Sings and plays a guitar, actually.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_09: Yep, and his guitar playing.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_09: Well, you said Gary Moore.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_09: Gary Moore to me is a like a like a distorted electric guitar.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_09: You know, like a loud, like a you know, dirty electric guitar.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_09: But this guy's electric is clean and punchy.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_13: Clean and punchy?
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_13: Hmm.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_12: Blues guy.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_09: He's kind of on the outs with one of the a guy that used to be a good friend of his, Eric Clapton.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_09: It's kind of on the outs with him.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_13: Is he still alive?
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_09: He's still alive.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_09: Uh is he fairly well known?
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_09: I think so.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_09: Uh he made an appearance in a classic movie in the 80s.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_09: It was part of the house band.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_12: Not Jeff Healy.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_13: Part of the house band?
- 1:11:27unknown: Yeah.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_13: What movie?

- 1:11:58SPEAKER_09: Um I can give you one of his hits.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_09: Smoke and gun.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_09: So maybe you don't know this guy as well as I thought you did.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_09: Whenever you see like uh big uh blues celebrations, like with Eric Clapton and you know Jimmy Vaughn and things like that, he's usually there.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_09: No?
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_09: African American.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_09: Gee, I thought you'd get smoke in the gun.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_12: Nope.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_12: I don't even know if I know that song.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you would if you heard it.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_13: Like I said, not nothing's ringing a bell here, man.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_09: Um I'm trying to think of hints I can give you.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_09: He's got a he The reason you s I I I um balked at first when you said, is it a band?
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_09: Because he does have albums out that are the the blank blank band.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_09: But he also has albums under just blank blank his name.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_09: So that's not helping you at all.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_13: No, nothing.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_13: Um super not helpful.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_09: Well, maybe if I play you smoking gun.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_14: Okay, I'll try it.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_13: See what happens.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_14: We'll see what happens, man.

- 1:13:57SPEAKER_09: I thought I thought you would get this.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_09: Robert Cray.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_13: Oh, Robert Cray.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_09: Robert Cray.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_13: Did you know he was in Animal House?
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_09: He was the leader of the band.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_09: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_09: This is the album I picked.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_09: It's called I Was Warned.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_09: And this is just Robert Cray.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_09: This is not the Robert Cray band.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_09: Um, and let me just play you a couple.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_09: Clean, punchy guitar.

- 1:14:40SPEAKER_09: Love Robert Cray.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_09: Like consistent.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_09: Consistent.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_09: I mean he's he's always put out good work.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_09: This is the title cut for this album, which came out in 1992.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_09: And the most in the choir taste.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_09: It's got a great voice, great tone, on its guitar.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_09: It's just you know, this is the kind of music I just put up.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_09: This one's called I Was Warned.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_09: Um, I have a few.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_09: Um I have the obviously the 20th century uh masters.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_09: Trying to think of one that you might know.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_09: Some pain, some shame, maybe.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_04: Um her hands soft and tough.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_09: This is a different album.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_05: I can hear the couple fighting right next door.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_09: Something you may not know is because he and Eric Clapton were pretty close.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_09: Um so much so that's around midnight I heard him shout on the let's see.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_04: And I knew right then the axe was gonna fall.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_04: It's because of me.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_09: I'm looking for something here.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_04: I heard him shout who is he to mumble low.

- 1:16:45SPEAKER_13: Oh yeah.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_12: Old Love.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_09: Robert Cray wrote this.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_09: Oh he did.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_09: Or helped write it, yeah.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_09: And actually on the Where is it?
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_09: There it is.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_09: Let me just do this.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_09: Because this is the same song, but they do it a little differently on the 24 Nights Live.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_09: So this is Eric Clapton and Robert Cray playing the g playing the song.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_09: Great song.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_09: But when Eric Clapton got the vaccine and had an adverse reaction to the vaccine.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_09: Uh I'm talking about COVID.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_09: Um, and came out with I mean, he was just he was mad.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_09: And thought he was, you know, taken advantage of, and thought we were all being taken advantage of.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_09: And he, I'm not gonna say he became an anti-vaxxer, but he certainly had questions about the vaccines.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_09: Sure.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_09: Um, and was, you know, really uh critical of the government uh and their motives and things like that.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_09: Robert didn't sit well with Robert Cray, so Robert Cray just kind of jumped ship and is not really supporting Eric Clapton anymore.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_09: Well, that's too bad.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_09: It is too bad, because they were good together.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_09: And and uh that was like um maybe a year or two ago, so they may have they may have patched up by now.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_09: Um but I know that there was some bad blood there for a little while.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_09: Um and it's silly, actually, to be very silly.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_09: Very silly.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_09: Uh you can, you know, have your your own opinions on something and and and still be friends with people.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_09: You know, that's there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_09: So anyway, uh yeah.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_09: I was warned is the album by Robert Gray.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_13: Oh well, there we go.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you go.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_09: I've been I've been into blues lately, so that's uh that's kind of cool that I picked that one.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_09: Um I mean I'm always into blues, but I've been listening to a lot of lately.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_09: So there we go.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_01: Uh so that's it.

- 1:19:04SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_09: Uh creeping up on that 200.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_09: Remind me of that mixtape question.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_09: It was if you uh are you staring out a rainy window?
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_13: Uh singing out a rainy window song.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_13: Peering out a window.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_09: Peering out a rainy window song.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_09: Yes.

- 1:19:21SPEAKER_13: Alright, so I still haven't heard from cousin Larry, so I don't know what he uh picked.

- 1:19:26SPEAKER_13: Yeah, about say.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_13: It's not like him to be completely that attached, but like I said, uh Wyoming maybe out of internet.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_13: We don't know.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_13: So yeah, peering through a rainy window song.
