Speaker 1: A Prayer for Quiet Trust in God Written by Whitney
• 0:51
Speaker 1: Hopler Read by Leah Gerard This is what the Lord
• 0:56
Speaker 1: says to me, I will remain quiet. and will look
• 1:00
Speaker 1: on from my dwelling place like shimmering heat in the sunshine,
• 1:03
Speaker 1: like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: Isaiah 18.4 Long summer days can be both wonderful and exhausting.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Gardens are growing and farm fields are nearing harvest time.
• 1:18
Speaker 1: Golden sunlight fills many days and is beautiful to look at,
• 1:22
Speaker 1: especially on summer afternoons. But summer can also be a
• 1:26
Speaker 1: quiet time that makes you feel like slowing down The
• 1:30
Speaker 1: sun appears high in the sky and the hot air
• 1:33
Speaker 1: can seem to shimmer in the distance. Some afternoons feel
• 1:37
Speaker 1: almost still under the sun's steady light and constant heat.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Isaiah 18.4 describes God's presence in ways that evoke summer days.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: In the verse, the Lord says he will remain quiet
• 1:51
Speaker 1: and watch from his dwelling place like shimmering heat in
• 1:54
Speaker 1: the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat
• 1:56
Speaker 1: of harvest. That peaceful imagery compares God's watchful presence to
• 2:02
Speaker 1: the gentle stillness of a hot summer day and the
• 2:06
Speaker 1: refreshment of morning dew during harvest season. It's easy to
• 2:10
Speaker 1: notice God's presence with you when He's doing something traumatic
• 2:14
Speaker 1: in your life. But God's presence is most often steady
• 2:18
Speaker 1: and quiet, like warm sunshine resting over the land on
• 2:22
Speaker 1: a summer day. God is still watching you and caring
• 2:25
Speaker 1: for you in the background. even when you aren't aware
• 2:28
Speaker 1: of His work. Learning to trust God's quiet presence can
• 2:33
Speaker 1: be challenging if you want immediate answers and quick solutions,
• 2:38
Speaker 1: when you want clear signs that God is working and
• 2:41
Speaker 1: quick answers to your prayers, but you don't get what
• 2:43
Speaker 1: you're hoping for when you want it. Doubt and worry
• 2:47
Speaker 1: can creep into your mind. When you're wondering where God
• 2:51
Speaker 1: is or concerned that your prayers aren't working, You have
• 2:54
Speaker 1: to make a choice to have faith and trust God
• 2:58
Speaker 1: even when you can't sense His presence. The words in
• 3:02
Speaker 1: Isaiah 18.4 encourage you that God is still active even
• 3:06
Speaker 1: though He's quiet. Just as the heat of summer quietly
• 3:11
Speaker 1: helps crops grow, God's work often happens in ways that
• 3:14
Speaker 1: are powerful but quiet. The prayers you prayed weeks or
• 3:20
Speaker 1: months ago are like seeds planted in the ground. God
• 3:24
Speaker 1: hasn't forgotten about them. He just has the best timing
• 3:27
Speaker 1: in mind to answer those prayers. Seeds planted earlier in
• 3:31
Speaker 1: the year begin to break through the soil surface during
• 3:34
Speaker 1: the summer. Growth that once seemed invisible gradually becomes visible
• 3:39
Speaker 1: as harvest time gets closer. God's work in your life
• 3:43
Speaker 1: happens that way too. Even when you can't immediately see
• 3:47
Speaker 1: what He's doing, God watches over your life with wonderful care.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: Summer can remind you of that. On a hot summer
• 3:55
Speaker 1: afternoon when sunlight looks like it's shimmering in the distance
• 3:58
Speaker 1: and the world feels calm, you can remember that God's
• 4:02
Speaker 1: presence is peaceful and steady. God is watching over you carefully,
• 4:08
Speaker 1: even when you're not aware of what He's doing beneath
• 4:10
Speaker 1: the surface of your life. Quiet seasons in your life
• 4:14
Speaker 1: can strengthen your faith. They can teach you to trust God,
• 4:18
Speaker 1: not only when something exciting or dramatic is happening for you,
• 4:21
Speaker 1: but also during times ordinary days. They remind you that
• 4:26
Speaker 1: God is doing something wonderful in your life every single day.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: God's plans for you aren't rushed. Just like crops grow
• 4:36
Speaker 1: slowly and steadily according to God's design for what's best
• 4:40
Speaker 1: for them, God will reveal His plans for you when
• 4:43
Speaker 1: the time is right for what's ultimately best. Long summer
• 4:48
Speaker 1: days can inspire you to trust that God is still
• 4:51
Speaker 1: present with you, watching you carefully and working for good
• 4:54
Speaker 1: purposes in your life. While learning to trust quietly takes time,
• 5:00
Speaker 1: you can grow more trust as you continue bringing your
• 5:03
Speaker 1: concerns to God in prayer, even when you don't get
• 5:06
Speaker 1: answers right away. You can also develop more quiet trust
• 5:10
Speaker 1: in your life by waiting with hope when you need
• 5:13
Speaker 1: to wait for God's timing. The same God who watches
• 5:17
Speaker 1: over the whole world, is also watching over your life.
• 5:22
Speaker 1: God's quiet care surrounds you like warm sunlight in summer.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Let's pray. Dear God, thank you for the quiet reminders
• 5:33
Speaker 1: of your presence that appear throughout the year's seasons. During
• 5:37
Speaker 1: these sunny summer days when the world around me feels still,
• 5:41
Speaker 1: help me remember that you're always watching over my life.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: Sometimes I struggle to trust you, when your answers to
• 5:47
Speaker 1: my prayers seem slow or when I'm facing a lot
• 5:50
Speaker 1: of stress and uncertainty in my circumstances, please teach me
• 5:55
Speaker 1: how to rest in your quiet faithfulness. Just like the
• 5:59
Speaker 1: summer sun slowly helps crops grow so they can be harvested,
• 6:04
Speaker 1: help me believe that you're patiently working for good purposes
• 6:07
Speaker 1: in my life, even when I can't see what you're doing.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: Please give me the peace that comes from trusting you
• 6:15
Speaker 1: and your timing Help me be calm and confident in
• 6:19
Speaker 1: your care. I want to walk through every season of
• 6:22
Speaker 1: my life with steady faith in you. Thank you, God. Amen.
