  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's training camp is all but wrapped up their head into Miami this afternoon, joint practice with the Dolphins tomorrow, preseason finale against the Dolphin Saturday at seven p.m.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It remains to be seen exactly how they're going to handle preseason week three in terms of the game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I have a strong feeling about each one of these positional battles outside of maybe the last one that we're going to talk about.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And this is like for the top, the first four we're going to talk about is like for legitimate playing time on offense or defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And the first one, Chuma Dogevers Patrick McCary, it's for right guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You see them kind of sub-in and out during practices.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The coaching staff has talked about how Adoga and McCary are competing at right guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like when McCary was signed for over thirteen million dollars per year, he was going to be the Jaguar starting right guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's dealt with little back issues.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's missed a little bit of time.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Seems like when a doga was signed it was a little bit later and it was a little bit okay.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be a guy that can compete as primary depth potentially at tackle and guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: McCary was kind of the leader in the clubhouse without question.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the Jaguars even thought Adoga would be pushing McCary, but as things have developed since this reagent class was brought in, the Jags have really liked what they've seen from Chuma Adoga, and I think they want to see a little bit more from Patrick McCary.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that he is by a wide margin at guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: What we've seen from Chuma a lot lately in his career is more tackle play, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: He played a lot more tackle and Dallas lately.

  [SPEAKER_00]: twenty twenty four all of his snaps but seven were at left tackle twenty twenty three all of his snaps were at left tackle pretty much he's been a tackle right twenty twenty one all of his snaps were at left tackle twenty twenty all of his snaps were at right tackle twenty nineteen all of his snaps were at right tackle he did have

  [SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me, in twenty twenty three hundred snaps out left guard in twenty twenty two fifty five snaps out left guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So they did know he has some experience playing both, but he's played a lot more tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Over twelve hundred snaps in his career of tackle versus less than two hundred at guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know that they signed him and thought he was going to come in here and impress them enough to be competing for a starting job.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But that's exactly what's happening.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Patrick McCary will win the job.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's overall a little bit better of a player, but I don't know that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just think you follow the money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The thirteen million dollars per year is pretty hard to put on the bench.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The jacks they've shown that money isn't the end all be all.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But moving on from Gabe Davis doing some of the other things they've done, but I think McCary at

  [SPEAKER_00]: Starting right guard makes the most sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he has the highest upside for you.

  [SPEAKER_00]: At right guard right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But if Chuma wins the job, he wins the job.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they've decided yet.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they could potentially, you know, it's good to get a starting five, yelling together and feeling the cohesiveness, you know, between when you're talking about right guard, between your right guard and your center and your right tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the good thing is probably both of them are decent options.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devin Lloyd and Ventrell Miller, another one where it's like, you know, Devin Lloyd former first round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Ventrell Miller, fourth round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devin Lloyd is going into contract a year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devin definitely came in as the starter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I still think he's getting more starting reps than Ventrell Miller.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you have foil Luke and as the locked in starter at linebacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think you could see both of these guys on the field in different scenarios.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about like offensive line positions, you're not talking usually about subbing a guy out for a specific scenario or game plan.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That could be the case at linebacker, however.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think both of these guys have had some really good moments in camp.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Devon Lloyd is a more impressive athlete.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Ventrell is probably a little bit more impressive upstairs, and he's just, he's a thumper.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devon can run better.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he can flip those hips and get downfield better, but he has more missed assignments than Ventrell does, but Ventrell has less athleticism to be a high end playmaker beyond just coming downhill and playing the run and blitzing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I do legitimately think you could see three linebackers on the field at sometimes, and I think all, you know, Ventrell, FOIA and Devon could all be on the field together.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But right now, our still put Devon as getting more snaps than Ventrell, but if Devon has struggles the way he has had in the past where you have missed assignments, like, I always talk about this.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devon Lloyd, it's like, eighty-five to ninety percent of his plays are great, but the other, you know, ten to fifteen percent, it's like a missed assignment that's really costly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be fascinating to see how that plays out and it could have a very big impact overall on the Jaguar success or lack thereof either way, however, it turns out on the defensive side of the ball this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray is a starter without question.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Andrew Wingard is almost written in pen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's written in pencil and I think that the ink is about to be placed onto the piece of paper to write it down in pen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a smartest.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is a playmaker, both coming downhill.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a savvy vet who knows how to play football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He just doesn't have some of the high-end traits that you might see from some of the other guys.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But at the same time, the guy with the highest-end traits, Caleb Ransal,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Another guy with pretty high-end traits, Darnell Savage just hasn't really put it all together at an extremely high level consistently in the NFL, even though he can fly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think safety too is going to be doing a winger, but they're still calling it a competition, and you're still seeing some competition out there for reps.

  [SPEAKER_00]: running back room I mean all of them the top four guys I think they're all competing for reps right now which is cool and we've talked about that a good bit but I think if I had to

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to honestly say, well, this guy's the definitive starter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Travis ETN starter preseason game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Tank Biggs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Tank Biggs start in practice.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've seen both of them play a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Right now, you're viewing tank bigsby as your lead ball carrier.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're viewing Travis CTN as your lead receiving back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then bashedal tootin is the number three that can do both of those things at a high level.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then, Lee Quinn Allen is your clear passing down back behind Travis ATN.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a good pass protector, he's a good passcatcher, he's tough, he brings a lot of feistyness and energy to the field.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I like this group a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I know it's not perfect, it's not like you have four guys that can all do everything, but you have some complimentary skill sets and tank bigs, but you're looking really strong.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The big thing for these guys is, don't fumble the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Don't fumble the ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's one thing if you drop it out and, and, and a route, but don't fumble it, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Spatial Tune and Tank Biggs be a bad big time fumbling problems throughout their career Travis ETN fumbled the ball a lot during his first year in the league he's clean that up really impressively over the last two years hasn't fumbled but one time it was a bad fumble yes I know but That's the one thing for these running backs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think don't fumble and and you'll have this running game in a good situation

  [SPEAKER_00]: And the ability to not just be runners, but be playmakers in space.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Get the football to them in other ways.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then finally, why do you see for five?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think your top four is locked up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: No question about it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've got your top four guys locked in, BTJ, Travis Hunter, Diami Brown, Parker Washington, and some order.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But why do you see for a five?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I guess you could say six is pretty interesting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like to me, it's clearly, I don't know if they're gonna keep six.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would think a team that's going to be an eleven person L as much as they are would probably like to try to keep six, but it's also possible you could stash a couple of the guys that you like on your practice squad.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think wider receiver five, which is a position that could legitimately see some playing time on the field is up for grabs right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's three players that have kind of steak to claim to it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Austin Tramel, who is more of a undersized, quick, but does his job type of receiver?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Trin Erwin has been in the league for a long time.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Tramwell has experience with this group as well, like he was in LA.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he has experience in this type of offense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Tramwell's a little squadier looks more like a slot receiver.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Erwin looks like he could play a lot of different spots.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then Joshua Cphus, who I think was definitely the front runner for a little while.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's cool to a little bit.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And now he's actually, he didn't practice today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was out there with the team, but did not practice today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what's going on with that yet.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But that's the three guys in my mind that have a shot at being wide receiver five and potentially being a play away from having to get out there and make some plays for the Jaguar's offense.
