- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. It is Week nine, everybody, and
- 0:18Speaker 1: we have everything you need to know about the undefeated
- 0:20Speaker 1: Eagles and the Texans coming up momentarily. They will kick
- 0:23Speaker 1: off the new week tomorrow night in Houston. Jordan Davis
- 0:27Speaker 1: moments ago already ruled out. We kind of sort of
- 0:29Speaker 1: knew that, but we'll look at the entire Week nine
- 0:32Speaker 1: schedule shortly. This is Steep White. My name is Andrew Sicilian.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I know this is NFL, that one NFL network where
- 0:37Speaker 1: you're here every day at one pm Eastern time. You
- 0:41Speaker 1: lived five years in Washington, d C. You see with
- 0:44Speaker 1: the Howard University of my last years when Doug Williams
- 0:46Speaker 1: won a Super Bowl championship for that club. I know
- 0:49Speaker 1: how much that club means to the citizens of that
- 0:51Speaker 1: city in that region. And that's where I guess are
- 0:54Speaker 1: jumping off point, because you've got big news. Absolutely. I
- 0:56Speaker 1: was born and raised there, right down the street from
- 0:59Speaker 1: where Joe Gibbs used to have his team practice. This
- 1:02Speaker 1: is significant news that broke this morning. That is Commander's
- 1:06Speaker 1: owner Daniel Snyder. A release today from the team said
- 1:10Speaker 1: that that they have hired Bank of America Securities to
- 1:14Speaker 1: consider potential transactions. Does that mean sell the team? Does
- 1:19Speaker 1: that mean sell a piece of the team? What exactly
- 1:21Speaker 1: does that mean? Ian Rappaport, Tom Pellicero, and Judy Batista
- 1:25Speaker 1: all with me? May nineteen, Ian is when Daniel Snyder
- 1:30Speaker 1: had his purchase of the team then with a different
- 1:34Speaker 1: name Affirm for eight hundred million dollars from Jack Kent
- 1:37Speaker 1: Cook Translate what today's press release means? What do we know?
- 1:42Speaker 1: I reached out to a commander's spokesperson to help me
- 1:45Speaker 1: translate and help bus translate what actually this means? What transactions?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Is Daniel Snyder looking to sell just a small piece
- 1:51Speaker 1: of the team, take on a minority partner or witty
- 1:54Speaker 1: actually finally sell the entire thing with the spokesman person
- 1:58Speaker 1: said to me, we are exploring all options. That is
- 2:01Speaker 1: extremely significant, guys. This is the first time the Daniel
- 2:05Speaker 1: Snyder or anyone representing him has even acknowledged the possibility
- 2:09Speaker 1: of selling the team. Every single other time that he
- 2:12Speaker 1: has had the opportunity to acknowledge this or say it
- 2:16Speaker 1: or it has been all denials, denials, denials, saying that
- 2:19Speaker 1: he will never sell the team. This is the first
- 2:21Speaker 1: time publicly the Dan Snyder says he may actually sell
- 2:25Speaker 1: the team. And you guys know how this works. Once
- 2:27Speaker 1: the door of possibility is open, there's gonna be many
- 2:30Speaker 1: many people looking to kick it wide open. The interest
- 2:33Speaker 1: in the Commanders just going to be significant. It is
- 2:36Speaker 1: going to be lucrative. There's so much here, including a
- 2:38Speaker 1: potential stadium that Daniel Snyder previously had tried to get
- 2:42Speaker 1: built but had no success doing it. This is the
- 2:44Speaker 1: first time we can realistically talk about Daniel Snyder no
- 2:49Speaker 1: longer owning the Washington Commanders, Tom Ian. This comes just
- 2:54Speaker 1: fifteen days after Colts owner Jim Mercy, during the NFL's
- 2:58Speaker 1: fall Meeting, became the first and to this point only
- 3:01Speaker 1: owner to come out publicly and saying that he believes
- 3:04Speaker 1: there is at to remove Dan Snyder as the owner now.
- 3:08Speaker 1: The Commanders, in response to that, wrote a letter to
- 3:11Speaker 1: the other owners talking about how honored that they all
- 3:14Speaker 1: should feel that they are NFL owners, but also put
- 3:16Speaker 1: out a statement with some keywords saying that when the
- 3:20Speaker 1: various investigations are complete paraphrasing Mr. Ursay, will see that
- 3:24Speaker 1: there is no reason for them to sell the Commanders
- 3:27Speaker 1: and they won't. So just two weeks later, suddenly the
- 3:31Speaker 1: Commanders are exploring doing exactly that, with Daniel Snyder engaging
- 3:35Speaker 1: with Bank of America to potentially sell the team, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: as you said, evaluate all the options here. So why now,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm told it is not because of an imminent resolution
- 3:46Speaker 1: to Mary Joe White's investigations, nor to the congressional investigation
- 3:51Speaker 1: into Dan Snyder and the Commanders. But with all these
- 3:54Speaker 1: different investigations, with one owner saying what plenty of others
- 3:58Speaker 1: feel privately that Daniel Snyder should be removed, and also
- 4:02Speaker 1: the ongoing stadium issue here and at least makes sense
- 4:06Speaker 1: for Daniel Snyder to line up his options if in
- 4:10Speaker 1: fact he does end up selling. There is a procedure
- 4:13Speaker 1: that goes into this. Thirty two owners have to approve
- 4:16Speaker 1: any sale. There's a vetting process, the banks are involved,
- 4:19Speaker 1: it takes months, and so at minimum here by doing
- 4:22Speaker 1: this now Dan Snyder will know what his options are
- 4:24Speaker 1: and be prepared to sell the team if that day
- 4:28Speaker 1: in fact comes where he decides he's going to move
- 4:30Speaker 1: on after a quarter century and charge in Washington. Let's
- 4:34Speaker 1: be clear, this is months in the making. Owners were
- 4:37Speaker 1: talking about would there be enough of them to vote
- 4:41Speaker 1: him out, all the way back in the spring um
- 4:44Speaker 1: and it has built up since then. Even before Jim
- 4:47Speaker 1: Orsay went to public with his feeling that there was
- 4:50Speaker 1: merit to remove Dan Snyder, owners were privately saying that
- 4:54Speaker 1: the best path would be to try to convince Dan
- 4:57Speaker 1: Snyder to sell. They thought that there were twenty four
- 5:00Speaker 1: votes to ounced him, but everybody knew that that would
- 5:03Speaker 1: be messy, that it could potentially end up in court,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and they wanted to avoid that. And there was a
- 5:08Speaker 1: feeling among owners that they needed to go to Dan
- 5:12Speaker 1: Snyder if he needed to be convinced. But somebody was
- 5:15Speaker 1: going to have to convince him that the best thing
- 5:17Speaker 1: to do would be to sell to avoid what would
- 5:20Speaker 1: be a humiliating fight with the other owners, and also
- 5:23Speaker 1: to reap the rewards of this franchise. It's certainly if
- 5:26Speaker 1: he sells, the entire thing will be a windfall. As
- 5:29Speaker 1: you pointed out, he paid less than one billion dollars
- 5:32Speaker 1: for the franchise, it certainly would be expected to go
- 5:35Speaker 1: for at least six billion. This is considered one of
- 5:39Speaker 1: the gold standard franchise huge rich history. There is the
- 5:42Speaker 1: possibility of a stadium to be built. Certainly, the feeling
- 5:45Speaker 1: is that under new ownership the possibility would be to
- 5:48Speaker 1: get a stadium built in the district, which has always
- 5:51Speaker 1: been what everybody had hoped for. So this is months
- 5:55Speaker 1: in the making leading up to the possibility and the
- 5:58Speaker 1: acknowledgement that a sale is possible. Again, owners would have
- 6:02Speaker 1: to approve it, but there are always key bowl around
- 6:06Speaker 1: who the league knows would be interested if an ownership
- 6:09Speaker 1: opportunity ever became available, So it is not like they
- 6:13Speaker 1: just say, let's put the sales sign up and then
- 6:15Speaker 1: we wait to see who's interested. They certainly have a
- 6:18Speaker 1: good idea that there would be interest in this. Multiple
- 6:21Speaker 1: people could be interested in this, and that of course
- 6:23Speaker 1: could bid the price up further. But this was not
- 6:26Speaker 1: a snap decision by any means. This has been months
- 6:30Speaker 1: of pressure building on Dan Snyder to make a decision,
- 6:33Speaker 1: and certainly if it leads to a sale, guys, that
- 6:36Speaker 1: is certainly the preferred path from the league office and
- 6:40Speaker 1: the other owners and Judy. This wouldn't be without president.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I mean, let's think about what the Panthers. It was
- 6:45Speaker 1: Jerry Richardson right, There was an investigation into him, There
- 6:48Speaker 1: was disciplined and to him, he was not forced to
- 6:51Speaker 1: sell his team by fellow owners, but he decided to
- 6:55Speaker 1: sell his team just after all of the bad press,
- 6:58Speaker 1: all of the bad news of the disciplinary things that
- 7:01Speaker 1: came after a sexual misconduct investigation with him, at least
- 7:05Speaker 1: in terms of language that was used to things like
- 7:07Speaker 1: that around the workplace, so there is somewhat of a
- 7:10Speaker 1: precedent with this. We also saw the Phoenix Suns have
- 7:13Speaker 1: a similar interdance with Server. Their owner wasn't forced to sell,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but other owners are like, it is time for you
- 7:18Speaker 1: to go, so all of us can move on with
- 7:21Speaker 1: our business, including you, as you just said, Judy having
- 7:24Speaker 1: their cash winfall. And I would say, guys, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 1: we this is obviously important. This is business. This is
- 7:29Speaker 1: much much bigger than anything that happens on the football field.
- 7:33Speaker 1: But there is the football thing that that we cover.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And we now talk about the Commanders having eve ended
- 7:38Speaker 1: up having played really well over the last couple of
- 7:40Speaker 1: weeks and now have another thing to deal with, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: the fact that we got Taylor Heineke and Ron Rivera
- 7:46Speaker 1: and the rest of the Commanders having to go out
- 7:48Speaker 1: and play games while we are all now publicly debating
- 7:51Speaker 1: their sale and what is going to happen. It's basically
- 7:53Speaker 1: been business as usual because that's been the way it's
- 7:55Speaker 1: been for the last several months. But just another thing
- 7:59Speaker 1: for this organization to now deal with. The only change
- 8:01Speaker 1: here is I would say the fans and many people
- 8:05Speaker 1: outside the commanders are probably a little more optimistic about
- 8:07Speaker 1: the end result than they were previously. We will get
- 8:09Speaker 1: to the football side of it coming up shortly. As
- 8:11Speaker 1: you said, it has certainly been a week in Washington
- 8:13Speaker 1: here Ron Rivera morty the loss of his mother, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: we sent our condolences. They've also opened up on the
- 8:18Speaker 1: football field here the window for Chase Young to be
- 8:20Speaker 1: back on the practice field. He was there today and
- 8:22Speaker 1: there were helicopters, according to reporters present today at Ashbourne,
- 8:26Speaker 1: circling over the practice field and is certainly a story
- 8:29Speaker 1: that will not go away, in one that we will
- 8:31Speaker 1: continue to report on and monitor as the day and
- 8:34Speaker 1: as the weeks and months go on. Thank you Ian,
- 8:36Speaker 1: thank you Tom, and thank you Judy. It's been a
- 8:39Speaker 1: week not just in Washington but around the NFL. Look
- 8:42Speaker 1: at this, it's kind of an eye chart. But how
- 8:43Speaker 1: about all these trades that happened yesterday, there were many
- 8:47Speaker 1: of them. We counted twelve trades yesterday, the most on
- 8:52Speaker 1: the deadline day in the last thirty years. You go back,
- 8:55Speaker 1: open it up, like two weeks, maybe it's as many
- 8:58Speaker 1: as eighteen trade. The headline yesterday was Bradley Chuck former
- 9:03Speaker 1: fifth overall, going to Miami with a five in exchange
- 9:09Speaker 1: for one and a four and Chase Edmonds and he
- 9:11Speaker 1: may actually play this week. It's hard to get players
- 9:17Speaker 1: UM quality players like that. It comes at a cost.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And yet you have to say um by to a
- 9:23Speaker 1: guy that you've UM invested in team defense and what
- 9:29Speaker 1: that another UM edge rusher, especially if his quality can
- 9:34Speaker 1: add to the defense, that can make our team that
- 9:36Speaker 1: much better. UM. It can make people at UM at
- 9:41Speaker 1: the position group he plays, UM, the defensive front. UM.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It can help UH corners and safeties. It's all collective,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and so that's what I'm most excited for, is not
- 9:55Speaker 1: anything UH individually with him. It's more of how it
- 10:00Speaker 1: will help UM our defense do what it's trying to do.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's also gonna look weird wearing number two. Bradley Chubb
- 10:09Speaker 1: is gonna wear two now, granted, Melvin Ingram, there were
- 10:11Speaker 1: six same position. That just seems a bit off to me.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And yes, I'm an old man yelling on my lawn
- 10:17Speaker 1: about jersey numbers. Ro Kuan Smith is gonna wear eighteen
- 10:21Speaker 1: with the Ravens, not exactly a linebacker uniform, but I digress.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Ro Kwan used to be obviously with the Bears. The
- 10:29Speaker 1: Bears traded him. The Bears traded Robert Quinn, but they
- 10:32Speaker 1: also traded four Chase Claypool, so it's not a fire sale. Um,
- 10:38Speaker 1: they're both buying and selling. There's part of me UM
- 10:45Speaker 1: that's bummed because this was a guy that I thought
- 10:48Speaker 1: was gonna be here for a long time. I felt
- 10:51Speaker 1: like we put a lot of effort forward to get
- 10:53Speaker 1: that done and we came up short and we couldn't
- 10:56Speaker 1: find common ground. And that's just a part of this business,
- 10:59Speaker 1: which I think we all understand. I like the way
- 11:03Speaker 1: justin this trending, and I think adding another um, big
- 11:08Speaker 1: body whose physical, explosive, great leaping ability, can stretch the
- 11:12Speaker 1: field but also is violent with the ball in his
- 11:15Speaker 1: hand as well as the blocker, I think that enhances
- 11:18Speaker 1: everyone around him. Are you betting on yourself at this point? Having,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you know, torn down this team and rebuilding it. Are
- 11:26Speaker 1: you is at the risk you're taking care At the
- 11:29Speaker 1: end of the day, I'm a decision maker and the leader,
- 11:31Speaker 1: and you gotta step up and you gotta make those decisions.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, if it's not,
- 11:35Speaker 1: then that's that is a kind of a roller coaster
- 11:39Speaker 1: of emotions. Here, Hi, they're Stacy Dale's Live at House
- 11:42Speaker 1: all Ryan Poles on the podium yesterday it's the Bears
- 11:45Speaker 1: of the Dolphins. Fittingly this week you trade away Quinn,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you trade away Row. Quad fans are like, wait for
- 11:51Speaker 1: next year, but wait, waititute now we're going to trade four.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Chase Claypole, walk me through what's going on in that building? Well,
- 11:59Speaker 1: walking you through is very simple, Andrew Ryan Poles continues
- 12:03Speaker 1: to put his imprint on this team. For a guy
- 12:06Speaker 1: that spent X amount of years in Kansas City, started
- 12:09Speaker 1: there as a scouting assistant in two thousand nine under
- 12:12Speaker 1: that regime and part of the recruitment of Patrick Mahomes.
- 12:16Speaker 1: What your takeaway is this is a complete buy into
- 12:18Speaker 1: the quarterback justin Fields. He mentioned it there in that
- 12:21Speaker 1: clip that we heard. They loved the trajectory of Justin Fields,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and we have seen him come alive these last few
- 12:26Speaker 1: games incorporating those legs into the mix, which has given
- 12:30Speaker 1: him more confidence throwing the football. And so why not
- 12:33Speaker 1: go add another as Ryan Poles alluded to, big bodied
- 12:36Speaker 1: receiver and Chase Claypool. This is really blockbuster because it
- 12:40Speaker 1: reflects on buying into the quarterback Justin Fields. This defense
- 12:44Speaker 1: will continue to get retooled. They didn't want to lose
- 12:47Speaker 1: value by giving by keeping and retaining Robert Quinn and
- 12:51Speaker 1: ro Kuwan Smith, and Ryan Poles said it very clearly.
- 12:54Speaker 1: The finals were on the table, they were established one
- 12:57Speaker 1: of the finals. Well, they were the numbers and they
- 12:59Speaker 1: could not come to common ground with Roquan Smith. But
- 13:02Speaker 1: this Chase Claypool addition for a guy in his third season,
- 13:05Speaker 1: Andrew who in his first two years over a hundred
- 13:09Speaker 1: targets in Pittsburgh right his rookie campaign over a hundred targets,
- 13:13Speaker 1: his second season over a hundred targets. So he's a
- 13:16Speaker 1: guy that's really smart, and I think they're going to
- 13:18Speaker 1: plug in and play right away and expect him to
- 13:20Speaker 1: make a difference with Darnell Mooney and company. But Bears
- 13:23Speaker 1: fans are certainly buzzing here. Charlie Yuke is buzzing about
- 13:28Speaker 1: this Claypool edition. Well, we'll explain who that is. Charlie Yuke,
- 13:33Speaker 1: one of our bosses, our senior coordinating producers. I remember
- 13:36Speaker 1: what Charlie's title is now, guy with an office upstairs
- 13:38Speaker 1: that oversees all of this. He is a huge Bears
- 13:40Speaker 1: fan in a Chicago native. And I walked in yesterday
- 13:43Speaker 1: and I said, really, a two for Claypool? Really, because
- 13:47Speaker 1: I didn't like the deal that he was like, no,
- 13:49Speaker 1: he loved it. I digress. Yeah, he's watching his office
- 13:53Speaker 1: likely right now, slumped in his chair. Um. Bradley Chubb.
- 13:58Speaker 1: The other side of it here, Mike McDaniel said he
- 14:00Speaker 1: may play this week. What kind of impact do we
- 14:03Speaker 1: see him having in Miami? The Bears gotta get rid
- 14:05Speaker 1: for him now, Yeah, immediate impact. We know what Bradley
- 14:09Speaker 1: Chubb couldn't do. I could rattle through his numbers, Andrew,
- 14:12Speaker 1: But the bottom line is this defense needed help. They're
- 14:15Speaker 1: already a really good football team there in the hunt,
- 14:18Speaker 1: so why not add a player that you believe can
- 14:20Speaker 1: take you to a Super Bowl? And that's what they're
- 14:22Speaker 1: getting in Bradley Chubb. They believe if you look at
- 14:25Speaker 1: their defense Andrew very quickly. They're giving up two sixty
- 14:28Speaker 1: two past yards per game, that is the seventh most
- 14:30Speaker 1: in the NFL. They have seven takeaways only this season,
- 14:34Speaker 1: and they've been struggling to get pressure without blitzing. That
- 14:38Speaker 1: is critical. Without blitzing, which is for or fewer pass
- 14:42Speaker 1: rushers up front. Just thirty seven pressures and only five sacks.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So what he does he do he allows them to
- 14:48Speaker 1: do with the Buffalo Bills are doing with Von Miller.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Get pressure with four and allow that back end to work.
- 14:54Speaker 1: That will help the team defense, is Mike McDaniel, the
- 14:56Speaker 1: head coach, alluded to in his press conference this morning.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And by the way, this has been in the works
- 15:01Speaker 1: for a couple of weeks, as Chris Greer, the general manager,
- 15:04Speaker 1: also alluded to in his press conference today. So get
- 15:08Speaker 1: get pressure with for Andrew, let that back end really
- 15:11Speaker 1: operate with those defensive backs and linebackers. I I love
- 15:15Speaker 1: the addition and it will see how many snaps he
- 15:17Speaker 1: gets on Sunday at Soldier Field, where I will be
- 15:20Speaker 1: this week, which is a very good game considering the
- 15:23Speaker 1: way the Bears played the last couple of weeks. Mike
- 15:25Speaker 1: McDaniel was asked today about the idea being all in,
- 15:28Speaker 1: like the Dolphins making this trade, they're all in, and
- 15:30Speaker 1: he said, yes, there's all in, but a lot of
- 15:32Speaker 1: us in the NFL. Also remember the old Jerry Glanville
- 15:35Speaker 1: NFL not for long, right, So you make these moves
- 15:38Speaker 1: so you can capitalize here Stacy Dales, thank you. Live
- 15:41Speaker 1: at Hollis Hall in Lake Forest. Meantime, at the trade
- 15:45Speaker 1: deadline yesterday, the Green Bay Packers, three and a half
- 15:48Speaker 1: games out of first, did not make a move, did
- 15:51Speaker 1: not go get a wide receiver to help Aaron Rodgers,
- 15:55Speaker 1: who happened to write before the trade deadline beyond the
- 15:58Speaker 1: Pat McAfee show for Eastern I think is the cutoff maybe,
- 16:04Speaker 1: so we're coming up on it hopefully. I was kind
- 16:06Speaker 1: of hoping there might be, you know, some news during
- 16:09Speaker 1: this show that we could break in lifetime. That would
- 16:11Speaker 1: be pretty cool. I have had conversations with Brian Uh,
- 16:15Speaker 1: you know, the past few weeks. I'm not sure what's
- 16:18Speaker 1: going to happen, but but I know that we've you know,
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'm not surprised to hear that maybe we were in
- 16:24Speaker 1: on the on the Claypool and then we'll see what happens. Yes,
- 16:28Speaker 1: the reporting is Bucky Brooks Steve White here that the
- 16:31Speaker 1: reason the Bears had to give up a two is
- 16:33Speaker 1: that the Packers also offered a two for Chase Claypool.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But here they are the team we saw Sunday night.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Alan Wizard did practice today, Steve. So that's good news. Guys.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It's pretty much the team you're gonna get. Yeah. Look
- 16:44Speaker 1: and you know, as you heard to say, it's not
- 16:46Speaker 1: like they did not try to add help there. It's
- 16:49Speaker 1: just at the Packers too, is probably going to be
- 16:51Speaker 1: a higher draft pick than the Bear I mean a
- 16:53Speaker 1: lord draft pick than the Bears too. So you know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you gotta do what you gotta do. But so so Bucky,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm saying, moving forward now, there's no more complaining for
- 17:00Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers about what he's having to work with and
- 17:02Speaker 1: what needs to get better. This is the soup that
- 17:05Speaker 1: he's got a stir and eat. So now these players
- 17:07Speaker 1: have to get better. They've got to find find ways
- 17:10Speaker 1: to make this offense a little bit better, and that's
- 17:12Speaker 1: something that they have not been able to do. They've
- 17:14Speaker 1: had changes on the offensive line, but there are no
- 17:16Speaker 1: more excuses. This is what you have to work with.
- 17:19Speaker 1: The Packers are not the only team in this situation.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And Aaron Rodgers again can't really talk about his pieces
- 17:24Speaker 1: anymore because this is whom he is expected to make better. Yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 1: he's expected to make them better as the franchise quarterback.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I think the game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday
- 17:35Speaker 1: night gave the Packers an opportunity to experiment with the
- 17:38Speaker 1: formula that I believe is best for them going forward.
- 17:41Speaker 1: We saw them commit to running the ball. We saw
- 17:44Speaker 1: A J. Dillon and Aaron Jones help this team go
- 17:47Speaker 1: for over two hundred rushing yards. We saw Aaron Rodgers
- 17:50Speaker 1: take a step back in terms of not throwing it
- 17:52Speaker 1: all over the yard. They're very efficient when your jobs
- 17:55Speaker 1: had a solid game. And so now what you do
- 17:57Speaker 1: with this young team, this young white receiver corps. You
- 18:00Speaker 1: want to build upon that run the football, eventually add
- 18:03Speaker 1: some play action passes, and then maybe you hold out
- 18:06Speaker 1: hope that you can convince O. B J to join
- 18:08Speaker 1: in the mix to give them a dynamic playmaker, because
- 18:11Speaker 1: the one thing that they're missing in this office is
- 18:14Speaker 1: someone who can take the top off the defense, someone
- 18:16Speaker 1: who can give them their vertical stretch presence, because if
- 18:19Speaker 1: you're going to run the ball like they said they
- 18:21Speaker 1: could run the ball on Sunday, you gotta have someone
- 18:24Speaker 1: to take it deep because it goes run, run, run,
- 18:26Speaker 1: or deep. That's the way it operates when you run
- 18:28Speaker 1: the ball. Brandon Cooks can take the top office. Also
- 18:31Speaker 1: do eighteen million next season, real quick here. Tom Pella
- 18:35Speaker 1: Sero reports Steve that the Rams turned out multiple offers
- 18:38Speaker 1: for running back Hammakers, who's been sitting out in the
- 18:40Speaker 1: doghouse if you were the last couple of weeks and
- 18:42Speaker 1: now maybe they put him back on the field. And
- 18:45Speaker 1: that's what I've been here from the organization. Like as
- 18:46Speaker 1: bad as things have been with cam Akers, it's not
- 18:49Speaker 1: a reparable between him and head coach Sean McVeigh. So
- 18:52Speaker 1: they refused the trades. Now they're gonna see you if
- 18:54Speaker 1: they can make amends and get him back on the field.
- 18:57Speaker 1: They know he fits their offense. They know he knows
- 18:59Speaker 1: their offense. So if he can come back with his
- 19:02Speaker 1: head on right and they can make amends with what
- 19:03Speaker 1: they want to do, maybe they can get part of
- 19:06Speaker 1: that run game going. But it definitely does seem like
- 19:08Speaker 1: steps need to be taken to bridge that relationship. Yet
- 19:13Speaker 1: a relationship needs to be bridge because I'll be honest,
- 19:16Speaker 1: the Rams need camp Akers more than the camp Akers
- 19:18Speaker 1: needs to Rams. The Rams have to be able to
- 19:20Speaker 1: run the football to get back on track. They cannot
- 19:23Speaker 1: be a one dimensional team and think that Matthew Stafford
- 19:25Speaker 1: can throw them into the postseason. They gotta get back
- 19:28Speaker 1: to being a physical football team. And without running the
- 19:30Speaker 1: ball at this team is all fines. Cam Akers did
- 19:33Speaker 1: tweek this week that he misses football. That was before
- 19:36Speaker 1: the deadline. Now after the deadline, the fact that he's
- 19:38Speaker 1: still on the roster. Will he be back on the
- 19:40Speaker 1: field remains to be seen. Thank you Bucky, Thank you Steve,
- 19:43Speaker 1: And we get ready to put the Sunday night game
- 19:46Speaker 1: in the spotlight. Derrick Henry ran over the Texans? Will
- 19:49Speaker 1: he run over the Chiefs? Will they shut down the
- 19:52Speaker 1: Chiefs like they did last year? That's next? All right,
- 19:56Speaker 1: you're watching NFL now. NFL Network knew into Wearing Newsroom
- 20:00Speaker 1: from Mike arra Folo, who reports that the Washington d C.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Trobe Police Department has scheduled a press conference later this
- 20:08Speaker 1: afternoon to update several active investigations. Mike says that sources
- 20:13Speaker 1: tell him one of the updates will be an arrest
- 20:16Speaker 1: in connection with the August shooting of Commanders running back
- 20:20Speaker 1: Brian Robinson. Thankfully is okay and thankfully back on the
- 20:25Speaker 1: football field. More details when we get that, Mike garre
- 20:28Speaker 1: Foller reported, means I'm back on the football field. It's
- 20:31Speaker 1: the Jets and the Bills coming up this week. Six
- 20:34Speaker 1: and one against five and three, first place against second place.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Who saw this coming in the a f C East.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Probably the most complete football team and we'll see all season.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Um the offense, defense, special teams. Uh, they're deep. Um,
- 20:53Speaker 1: they're they're littered with Pro Bowlers and uh in all
- 20:57Speaker 1: three phases and uh, farewell coach. They play hard, quarterbacks, outstanding,
- 21:03Speaker 1: their defensive front, very deep, disruptive. It's a damn good
- 21:08Speaker 1: football team. This is a really good Jets football team.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They played great defense. They've got great talent. Um, they've
- 21:15Speaker 1: got great speed offensively, great speed defensively. And and I
- 21:19Speaker 1: think that's been well documented with with the players that
- 21:21Speaker 1: they have on both sides of the ball. Uh. If
- 21:24Speaker 1: the Mutual Admiration Society here, Judy batistaid, Bucky Brooks, everyone's
- 21:28Speaker 1: saying nice things about the opponent this week, um as
- 21:32Speaker 1: as Judy. Everyone there is also trying to say nice things.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They're meaning New York about Zack Wilson at least in
- 21:38Speaker 1: the building, but also being pretty firm he's got to
- 21:42Speaker 1: play better if they're going to make a playoff run. Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: Joe Douglas Today's Zoom yesterday after after the trade deadline passed,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and one thing he said, let me read it to you.
- 21:51Speaker 1: When you take care of the ball, with our defense
- 21:54Speaker 1: and special teams, we're gonna be a tough team to beat.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Just focus on the turnover battle, focus on eliminating self
- 22:00Speaker 1: inflicted wounds. Now, he went on to say that was
- 22:03Speaker 1: directed at the entire team, just Zeth Wilson, but obviously
- 22:07Speaker 1: the emphasis is going to be be a lot more
- 22:09Speaker 1: careful with the ball. Zach Wilson had three interceptions in
- 22:13Speaker 1: the loss to the Patriots last week, if you remember,
- 22:15Speaker 1: two of them were particularly ugly, and he said, by
- 22:18Speaker 1: his own admission, is just really bone headed decisions on
- 22:21Speaker 1: his part. One thing to keep in mind, though he
- 22:24Speaker 1: is especially struggling under pressure. He is being pressured of
- 22:28Speaker 1: his dropbacks. He's completing just thirty one per cent when
- 22:32Speaker 1: he is under pressure. That is second lowest in the league. Amazingly,
- 22:36Speaker 1: the only person who is lower than him is Tom
- 22:38Speaker 1: Brady when facing pressure. But the point still remains, Zack
- 22:41Speaker 1: Wilson has to play better. He's got to play cleaner.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Somebody who knows the Jets organization said to me this week,
- 22:49Speaker 1: forget wins or losses, forget whether you win or lose
- 22:52Speaker 1: against the Bills. Just hold onto the ball. Yeah, dude,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I think this is a big challenge. Is a big
- 22:58Speaker 1: challenge for Zach Wilson because when you go back and
- 23:00Speaker 1: watch how he played at b y U, he was
- 23:02Speaker 1: always a gunslinger and was a little wreck this with
- 23:05Speaker 1: the football. So now you're playing for a defensive oriented team,
- 23:09Speaker 1: meaning this team's best way of winning is to let
- 23:12Speaker 1: the defense lead the way. And so you're asking Zach Wilson,
- 23:15Speaker 1: who has always been a playmaker throughout his life, to
- 23:18Speaker 1: now be a game manager. You heard it in his
- 23:21Speaker 1: comments after the game where he talked about it's frustrating
- 23:24Speaker 1: to have to throw the ball away or when the
- 23:26Speaker 1: defense wins and I can't fit it down the field.
- 23:29Speaker 1: That doesn't sound like someone who really understands the value
- 23:32Speaker 1: of the ball. So maybe someone in the build that
- 23:34Speaker 1: can get with him, Robert Solo, one of the offensive coaches,
- 23:37Speaker 1: can tell him, hey, man, you take care of the ball.
- 23:40Speaker 1: We win a lot of games. You get a lot
- 23:42Speaker 1: of credit on Broadway because until he's able to check
- 23:45Speaker 1: his ego and kind of play more of a managerial
- 23:48Speaker 1: style instead of pushing the envelope as a gun slinger,
- 23:51Speaker 1: the Jets will always have these ebbs and flows in
- 23:54Speaker 1: their perform I just love that this game means something.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Last time the Jets and Bills met in November or
- 24:00Speaker 1: later where they're both two games over five d was
- 24:03Speaker 1: week sixteen of the eight. It was Flutey and Vinny
- 24:08Speaker 1: Testaverdie and Wade Phillips and Bill Parcels and yeah, let's
- 24:14Speaker 1: get that video for later in the week. Thank you Judy,
- 24:17Speaker 1: Thank you Bucky. Give it to Henry. Outside of the
- 24:24Speaker 1: Tan puts a move on to the five, stiff arm
- 24:26Speaker 1: dives over the pylon, touch Dad Titans. That was a
- 24:31Speaker 1: man size run, deep man and the one kiss Henry
- 24:38Speaker 1: left guard into the end zone. Mike Keith has a
- 24:44Speaker 1: lot of fun calling Derrick Henry touchdown runs. He owned
- 24:47Speaker 1: the Texans last week. Now he's going to try to
- 24:49Speaker 1: face a very good Kansas City defense, one that we
- 24:52Speaker 1: do not talk about enough, one that did the job
- 24:54Speaker 1: two weeks ago when they were in Santa Clara beating
- 24:56Speaker 1: the forty niners before thereby, this is the Sundane Night game, Bucky,
- 25:01Speaker 1: Steve White, this one paper, and I mean I love
- 25:06Speaker 1: this game because look, the Titans have one, what five
- 25:08Speaker 1: in a row. They look like the Titans we know
- 25:10Speaker 1: and love. Oh yeah, and the Titans have beaten the
- 25:13Speaker 1: Chiefs four straight times in the regular season, So matchups
- 25:18Speaker 1: this is a tough thing with the chief But this
- 25:19Speaker 1: Chief team, Bucky, it is different. Right. Offensively, the Chiefs
- 25:23Speaker 1: can put points on the board. Those five teams the
- 25:25Speaker 1: Titans just beat, they can't score, right, So and we
- 25:28Speaker 1: see the the variety of the offense. Now the Chiefs
- 25:31Speaker 1: are playing with two that can keep the ball, they
- 25:33Speaker 1: can possess it. They're not just a big play team.
- 25:36Speaker 1: So this is one. If the Chiefs get to lead,
- 25:38Speaker 1: you know, the Titans are gonna stay with the run.
- 25:40Speaker 1: But is that going to be the formula? If Kansas
- 25:42Speaker 1: City can continue to score like we saw them do
- 25:46Speaker 1: against the forty nine two weeks ago. This is the
- 25:48Speaker 1: biggest tallenge that faces the Titans each and every week.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Can they stay true to their identity despite the teams
- 25:53Speaker 1: that they're facing. What I love about Mike Rabel is
- 25:56Speaker 1: they don't sugarcoat it. They know exactly who they are.
- 25:59Speaker 1: They are run first team. They got the king in
- 26:01Speaker 1: the backfield, and the king is going to get fit,
- 26:03Speaker 1: and so it is on the Chiefs defense to find
- 26:07Speaker 1: a way to slow the guy down, to find a
- 26:09Speaker 1: way to stop the monster from getting loose. And what
- 26:12Speaker 1: you're beginning to see from the CNC Titans, Oh, they're
- 26:14Speaker 1: feeding the pig. They're giving him the ball early often,
- 26:17Speaker 1: they're giving it to him late, They're giving it to
- 26:19Speaker 1: him when everyone knows he's getting it and he's still
- 26:21Speaker 1: able to be successful. The Tennessee Titans walk into the
- 26:24Speaker 1: stadium each and every week saying, we're going to run
- 26:27Speaker 1: it at you. We dare you to stop it. We'll
- 26:29Speaker 1: see if you can see the Chiefs are up to
- 26:31Speaker 1: the challengel If you include scrambles by Malik Willis that
- 26:33Speaker 1: ran the ball forty five times last week, Malike Willis
- 26:35Speaker 1: through the ball only ten times. Ryan Tannehill's ankle obviously
- 26:40Speaker 1: an issue this week, something to minor. I think he's
- 26:41Speaker 1: gonna be okay. Sunday night, Chiefs, Titans, this city, Thank you,
- 26:47Speaker 1: Bucky blow Air's a deep down field for t J. Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 1: this is is that a flag? D J. Moore climbed
- 27:04Speaker 1: up into the seats. Un sportsmanlike conduct offense number two
- 27:09Speaker 1: for removing his helmet. This will be a forty eight
- 27:12Speaker 1: yard extra point to kick his up and million good
- 27:17Speaker 1: n So we go to overtime. Now they've got a
- 27:22Speaker 1: chance for a fuel goal to win the kid it's up.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, wow to kick by two. It's hump
- 27:32Speaker 1: and it's good. And the Falcons winning thirty seven to
- 27:37Speaker 1: thirty fourth. Oh man, I mean, what a back and forth,
- 27:42Speaker 1: crazy game. The last ten possessions and before the overtime
- 27:47Speaker 1: folk team scored all ten times. Anyway, look at this
- 27:50Speaker 1: the first place Atlanta Falcons. How does that sound? First
- 27:54Speaker 1: place Atlanta Falcons for the first time entering Week nine.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Rashaan Evans, who's live with us now and Falcons Gammon
- 28:01Speaker 1: Flabbery Branch since two thousand and six, see watching so
- 28:05Speaker 1: happy he were as Falcon's colors here today. Uh Rashawn
- 28:09Speaker 1: just watching back that thing, like, have you ever been
- 28:11Speaker 1: involved in a more bunkers game than that? Yeah? I
- 28:15Speaker 1: mean I've been in a lot of games in my day,
- 28:18Speaker 1: but this one probably tops it off. You know, you
- 28:21Speaker 1: got a lot of emotions, is like a roller coast
- 28:24Speaker 1: and then you know, you get the opportunity to be
- 28:26Speaker 1: able to win the game. And we were able to
- 28:28Speaker 1: do that. Man. So I'm really proud of the guys for,
- 28:30Speaker 1: you know, just fighting through and making sure that you know,
- 28:32Speaker 1: we got the job done. So Sean, after the game,
- 28:35Speaker 1: you said, you feel good about being number one, first
- 28:38Speaker 1: place in the NFC South, but the hardest thing right
- 28:40Speaker 1: now is to maintain and be there and stay there.
- 28:44Speaker 1: You guys have played with this underdog chip since training camp,
- 28:48Speaker 1: but now you guys are kind of the hunted. Does
- 28:51Speaker 1: the mentality change? I think at this point, right now,
- 28:56Speaker 1: you gotta understand that you're gonna get the best game
- 28:58Speaker 1: of of everybody in the league at this point. Um,
- 29:01Speaker 1: you know, everybody knows that you're number one. Everybody knows
- 29:03Speaker 1: that you know you're you're you're in the rhythm right
- 29:07Speaker 1: now to be able to place yourself in the playoffs.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And I think for us right now, we just gotta
- 29:11Speaker 1: stay focused and maintain the things that we've been doing,
- 29:14Speaker 1: and that's making sure that we don't make a lot
- 29:16Speaker 1: of mistakes, make sure that we're detailed, make sure that
- 29:19Speaker 1: we are you know, continue to push and be better
- 29:22Speaker 1: and better each and every week. And you know you
- 29:24Speaker 1: do those things, you put yourself in a good position
- 29:26Speaker 1: and have to think as well, Rashwan, and I know
- 29:28Speaker 1: you focus on your team and your team only because
- 29:30Speaker 1: that is what you can control. You also know that
- 29:33Speaker 1: Tom Brady is not going down to that a fight
- 29:34Speaker 1: looking over your shoulder, and the Saints got plenty of weapons,
- 29:39Speaker 1: they're gonna get healthy. And that Falcons team, I'm sorry,
- 29:42Speaker 1: Falcons Panthers team pushed you guys to the limit. So
- 29:45Speaker 1: no matter what the rest of the league may say
- 29:48Speaker 1: about the standings in your division, you know there's still
- 29:52Speaker 1: a second half of football here, oh no doubt. Um,
- 29:55Speaker 1: you know you playing this great game, and you know
- 29:58Speaker 1: these guys get paid just like us. These guys are
- 30:01Speaker 1: elite at what they do, and you know, each and
- 30:03Speaker 1: every game at this point like a playoff game for us.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So um, you know it's gonna definitely take all of
- 30:09Speaker 1: us to make sure we're on the top of our game,
- 30:11Speaker 1: make sure on our p's and queues um each and
- 30:13Speaker 1: every Sunday, because we know we're gonna get their best.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Which I spent a lot of time with you guys
- 30:18Speaker 1: in training camp, and your head coach Arthur Smith instilled
- 30:21Speaker 1: a belief in his players from day one. Forget what
- 30:25Speaker 1: everyone else is saying about you. You guys are gonna
- 30:27Speaker 1: be good. You guys are gonna compete. How much did
- 30:30Speaker 1: that mean to you? Guys with so many new players,
- 30:33Speaker 1: including yourself joining this roster, it means a lot. Um.
- 30:37Speaker 1: You know, you kind of use it as fuel, use
- 30:38Speaker 1: it as motivation to uh, you know, be better than
- 30:42Speaker 1: what the critics are saying. Um. Also we'll say, you know,
- 30:45Speaker 1: we're try not to you know, look in or try
- 30:48Speaker 1: to pay attention to those things, but you know, it
- 30:51Speaker 1: can be a way to use fuel to the fire.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And I think that's exactly what we're doing. Um. You know,
- 30:57Speaker 1: at the end of the day, we're not trying to
- 30:59Speaker 1: do anything more, anything less than what we're doing. UM.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You know, making sure that we just play our style
- 31:04Speaker 1: of football and the way we like to play each
- 31:06Speaker 1: and every Sunday. Um, and you know great things will happen.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Was talking about you former first round picture, leading the
- 31:12Speaker 1: team and tackles here. How rewarding is it because I
- 31:15Speaker 1: know it didn't end the way you wanted it to
- 31:16Speaker 1: end with the Titans. To be here and playing this
- 31:21Speaker 1: well right now for a first place team, it feels
- 31:26Speaker 1: good man. UM. You know it's one of those things
- 31:28Speaker 1: where you're you're using things that happened in the past
- 31:32Speaker 1: to you know, help shape the things that learn from
- 31:35Speaker 1: the things that you did in the past to help
- 31:36Speaker 1: shape the things that you're you're doing now. And you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: me being a guy that's going into the fifth year
- 31:42Speaker 1: now and in his fifth year, UM, you know, I've
- 31:44Speaker 1: learned a lot of things. UM. It's helped me in
- 31:46Speaker 1: my leadership, has helped me understanding you know, it's not
- 31:49Speaker 1: always about you. You know the team always is always
- 31:52Speaker 1: gonna come first, and that at the same time, you know,
- 31:55Speaker 1: you know you play your role in doing it the
- 31:57Speaker 1: best of your ability. It's enough. And you know, at
- 32:00Speaker 1: this point right now, I'm just happy to be a
- 32:02Speaker 1: part of a great organization, a great team, Guys that
- 32:05Speaker 1: love each other, Guys that counted each other. UM. In
- 32:08Speaker 1: our locker room is continue each and every week to
- 32:11Speaker 1: be better and better. Um. So I'm just, you know,
- 32:13Speaker 1: really excited to see what happens in the next couple
- 32:15Speaker 1: of games, man too, to see where we play. What
- 32:18Speaker 1: about a player like you, Marcus Mariota comes over from Tennessee,
- 32:23Speaker 1: lost his starting job for a couple of years, was
- 32:25Speaker 1: over with the with the Raiders and comes back and
- 32:27Speaker 1: he is now you're starting quarterback and leading you right now.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I mean it's it's you know, it's like a it's
- 32:33Speaker 1: like a beautiful story. Man. You know that's the thing
- 32:36Speaker 1: I love about this game. Man. You know, things don't
- 32:39Speaker 1: go as well as you might want it, but you know,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you always have another opportunity, um, you know, each and
- 32:45Speaker 1: every year to be able to position yourself or at
- 32:48Speaker 1: least change the narrative about yourself, to be able to
- 32:51Speaker 1: be in a better place, in a different place. And
- 32:53Speaker 1: I think Marcus is doing that and to be able
- 32:55Speaker 1: to see him grow as a quarterback from Tennessee to
- 32:58Speaker 1: the Raiders until now. Um, you know, it's been beautiful man.
- 33:01Speaker 1: He's he's taking that leadership role in leading us and
- 33:04Speaker 1: these and the in these wins. Man. And you know,
- 33:06Speaker 1: he's doing a really good job of just playing his game.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He's not allowing anybody to you know, control the narrative
- 33:12Speaker 1: about you know, what he's done in the past. I
- 33:14Speaker 1: think he's taking full advantage of the opportunities that he's
- 33:17Speaker 1: has and he's making the best of real quick before
- 33:20Speaker 1: I let you go, Rashaanna know he's not of the
- 33:21Speaker 1: building right now, but he is your former Alabama team.
- 33:24Speaker 1: At your reaction the locker rooms reaction to the Calvin
- 33:27Speaker 1: Ridley trade yesterday, Yeah, man, I mean it's always good
- 33:31Speaker 1: news that a guy that you won games with, a
- 33:34Speaker 1: guy that you sweat, sweat, blood and tears that you
- 33:37Speaker 1: had it bowman, to be able to see him, uh,
- 33:40Speaker 1: have another chance and be able to you know, extend
- 33:43Speaker 1: his career. Um. I know he's gonna do very well.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Um you know, I know he's working hard. I know
- 33:48Speaker 1: he's doing all the little things that he needs to
- 33:50Speaker 1: do to be prepared. And you know, it's gonna be
- 33:52Speaker 1: fun seeing Calvin out there, you know, around guys up
