  Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
• 0:05
Speaker 2: It's Almost Famous podcast. We are here today to break
• 0:08
Speaker 2: down some breaking news with m Bachelor Nation. It's very
• 0:12
Speaker 2: exciting news. It's season two of The Golden Bachelor, and tonight,
• 0:19
Speaker 2: thanks to all the kind people over at ABC, we
• 0:23
Speaker 2: get to know who our next Golden Bachelor is. His
• 0:28
Speaker 2: name is mel Owens. Then you might hear that name
• 0:32
Speaker 2: and you go, that sounds familiar. It makes sense that
• 0:34
Speaker 2: it does. Mel Owens has a terrific let's call it
• 0:38
Speaker 2: a resume. Here's what US Weekly says. ABC announced on Tuesday,
• 0:47
Speaker 2: April twenty second that mel Owens, a sixty six year
• 0:52
Speaker 2: old former NFL veteran turned lawyer. Some people have it all.
• 0:59
Speaker 2: We'll star on season two of The Golden Bachelor. Yes,
• 1:03
Speaker 2: you heard that right. This guy is a former lineman
• 1:07
Speaker 2: at the University of Michigan. Was the ninth overall pick
• 1:10
Speaker 2: in the nineteen eighty one NFL draft. I wasn't born yet,
• 1:17
Speaker 2: but it doesn't mean this guy is not a stud.
• 1:19
Speaker 2: He grew up in the Midwest from Detroit, Michigan. He's
• 1:23
Speaker 2: handsome and now let's say he's athletic and smart. Because
• 1:28
Speaker 2: after his NFL career, because he spent nine seasons with
• 1:31
Speaker 2: the Los Angeles Rams, Mel retired and he transitioned into
• 1:37
Speaker 2: being an attorney. He lives in Orange County, California, and
• 1:44
Speaker 2: one of the things he says he loves to do
• 1:46
Speaker 2: is dedicate himself to helping others, particularly though seeking justice
• 1:53
Speaker 2: for sports related injuries. Mel was previously married. They shared
• 1:59
Speaker 2: two sons together. Now mel has been through it here
• 2:03
Speaker 2: as of recent his marriage has ended and his father
• 2:08
Speaker 2: has passed away. But that didn't keep mel Owens down because,
• 2:14
Speaker 2: as he says, and I quote, he channeled his energy
• 2:18
Speaker 2: into being the best father he could be, focusing on
• 2:20
Speaker 2: raising his sons and coaching in sports. Now, after several
• 2:26
Speaker 2: years as of devoted dad, Owens is ready to rediscover
• 2:29
Speaker 2: a love rooted in the simple joys of you guessed it,
• 2:34
Speaker 2: companionship and sharing life's everyday moments. Here's what I think.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: I think Melowans is a great choice. Goodness gracious, Can
• 2:45
Speaker 2: we get any better? I mean, I thought Gary was
• 2:47
Speaker 2: a home run, and he was he is. But mel Owens,
• 2:53
Speaker 2: if you look at his picture, he looks like a
• 2:55
Speaker 2: kind fella, sounds like he's a kind fella. He's dedicated
• 3:00
Speaker 2: his life to helping others. He played nine seasons in
• 3:04
Speaker 2: the NFL, played at the University of Michigan. Is a Midwesterner,
• 3:08
  Speaker 2: which I gotta love and respect. I I wasn't gonna
• 3:16
Speaker 2: be shocked if the Golden Bachelor world could find themselves
• 3:20
Speaker 2: a great next Golden Bachelor lead. That wasn't gonna be
• 3:23
Speaker 2: shocking to me, because I think it's a still probably
• 3:27
Speaker 2: the most coveted leadership role within the franchise. I don't
• 3:33
Speaker 2: know if being the Bachelor or bachelotte right now is
• 3:35
Speaker 2: a great choice for anybody, but I think being the
• 3:38
Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor is a terrific choice. Being the Golden Bachelorette
• 3:41
Speaker 2: it then comes close second. Mel Owens, I believe, is
• 3:46
Speaker 2: gonna find his level in this show. I see in
• 3:49
Speaker 2: his eyes. I think his heart's ready. I think the
• 3:54
Speaker 2: ladies are already signing up like crazy. How could they not?
• 3:59
Speaker 2: My Buddy's any kind of joke around. Some people have
• 4:01
Speaker 2: it all. Some people have it all. Some people have
• 4:04
Speaker 2: the good looks, the athleticism, the smarts, the intelligence, the charisma,
• 4:08
Speaker 2: the compassion, the character. And I'll tell you this, mel
• 4:15
Speaker 2: Owens has it. We'll be tuning in here at the
• 4:18
Speaker 2: Almost Famous podcast for The Golden Bachelor, where I think
• 4:23
Speaker 2: we're still waiting on an announcement date for the first
• 4:26
Speaker 2: episode to air, but as soon as we hear that,
• 4:31
Speaker 2: we'll be sure to share it with all of you.
• 4:33

Speaker 2: handsome man, will star on season two of the Golden
