- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett, right off the bat. Thanks
- 0:08Speaker 1: so much for all the birthday wishes, and thanks so
- 0:11Speaker 1: much to the Yankees for an incredible birthday present of
- 0:14Speaker 1: being back. The Bronx Bombers are back. That's what the
- 0:18Speaker 1: New York Post says, and that's what's reality here. Fifteen
- 0:21Speaker 1: years later, fifteen years later, the Yankees are back in
- 0:27Speaker 1: the World Series and they'll face off against the Dodgers.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And it's funny because I'm wearing an NFL shirt today
- 0:32Speaker 1: and it hit me earlier today that this is a
- 0:37Speaker 1: super Bowl week. This is the Yankees and Dodgers Super
- 0:39Speaker 1: Bowl Week. The coverage, the interviews, it's gonna you might
- 0:42Speaker 1: as well have a media day for the World Series.
- 0:45Speaker 1: That's how hype this series is going to be. And
- 0:48Speaker 1: do I make the prediction now, I'm in it on
- 0:49Speaker 1: social media. Yankees in five is my prediction. I hope
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm right. I hope I'm right. But before we get there,
- 0:56Speaker 1: there is some news I want to get too from
- 0:58Speaker 1: the weekend. And actually even today, did you hear did
- 1:04Speaker 1: you hear that? Sixty Minutes has actually come out with
- 1:08Speaker 1: a statement about the quote unquote deceitful editing that President
- 1:14Speaker 1: Trump accused him of. When it comes to their Kamala
- 1:17Speaker 1: Harris interview a couple of weeks ago, but normally left
- 1:22Speaker 1: leaning Hill, the Hill actually gave us the side by
- 1:26Speaker 1: side comparison to the edited versus actual answer Kamala Harris
- 1:32Speaker 1: gave sixty minutes in a interview just a couple of
- 1:35Speaker 1: weeks ago. Here is a side by side comparison of
- 1:39Speaker 1: the clip in question.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Judge for yourself.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But it seems that Prime Minister netanya who is not listening.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted
- 1:51Speaker 2: in a number of movements in that region by Israel
- 1:57Speaker 2: that were very much prompted by or a result of
- 2:03Speaker 2: many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen
- 2:07Speaker 2: in the region.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyah who is not listening.
- 2:12Speaker 2: We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary
- 2:15Speaker 2: for the United States to be clear about where we
- 2:17Speaker 2: stand on the need for this war to end.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That is the comparison, and for me, any edited interview
- 2:26Speaker 1: by a network that supposedly and by a program that
- 2:30Speaker 1: has such prestige sixty minutes, that sixty minute ticking is
- 2:35Speaker 1: prestigious it's a prestigious sound effect as well, so any
- 2:40Speaker 1: editing that it admits to is journalistic malpractice. But what
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'll give them credit for is in this election cycle,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we need networks to hold themselves accountable, and today them
- 2:54Speaker 1: releasing this statement makes themselves accountable. You might not agree
- 2:59Speaker 1: with me on that, but I think it's a step
- 3:00Speaker 1: toward holding themselves at CBS and at sixty minutes accountable.
- 3:06Speaker 1: The samreads as follows. Okay, President former President Donald Trump
- 3:12Speaker 1: is accusing sixty minutes of deceitful editing about our October
- 3:16Speaker 1: seventh interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false.
- 3:20Speaker 1: This is what they say. Sixty minutes gave an excerpt
- 3:26Speaker 1: of our interview to face the nation that needed that
- 3:30Speaker 1: used a longer section of her answer than that on
- 3:32Speaker 1: sixty minutes. Same question, same answer, but a different portion
- 3:38Speaker 1: of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician,
- 3:45Speaker 1: an athlete, a movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and on point. The portion of her answer on sixty
- 3:54Speaker 1: minutes was much was more succinct, which allows time for
- 4:00Speaker 1: other subjects in a wide ranging, twenty one minute long segment. Remember,
- 4:07Speaker 1: mister Trump, pulled out of the interview with sixty minutes,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and the Vice President participated our long standing invitation, and
- 4:14Speaker 1: former President Trump remains open if he would like to
- 4:18Speaker 1: discuss the issues facing the nation and the Harrison interview,
- 4:24Speaker 1: we would be happy to have him on sixty minutes.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I think sixty minutes being a bigger person here in
- 4:33Speaker 1: this regard that they're leaving the door open for President
- 4:36Speaker 1: Trump to take him up on that invitation, and I
- 4:38Speaker 1: think he should. If he's not going to debate Kamala
- 4:41Speaker 1: a second time, then go on sixty minutes. Be better
- 4:46Speaker 1: than her on sixty minutes. If that's what you're so
- 4:48Speaker 1: concerned about, Be better than her. Maybe he's worried they're
- 4:52Speaker 1: going to edit him in as well, But what do
- 4:57Speaker 1: you think of CBS admitting minutes admitting that they edited
- 5:03Speaker 1: for Face the Nation a different portion of the response
- 5:08Speaker 1: feels a little weird to me because journalistic integrity says
- 5:14Speaker 1: you leave the whole answer. I don't care if it's
- 5:16Speaker 1: for Face the Nation or for sixty minutes. You leave
- 5:20Speaker 1: it in. And if they call it succinct, does that
- 5:26Speaker 1: mean they think too VP Harris is long winded. You
- 5:32Speaker 1: think about that they call it more cistic. The answerments
- 5:35Speaker 1: she might have had the word salad happening, so they
- 5:38Speaker 1: had to cut it down for a twenty minute interview
- 5:41Speaker 1: with her. But this is her problem. She gets too
- 5:46Speaker 1: long winded, she starts deflecting, and even sixty Minutes had
- 5:53Speaker 1: to edit her. Should they have no But I think
- 5:55Speaker 1: you can turn this around and say, well, she might
- 5:58Speaker 1: have been too long winded for twenty one minutes. That
- 6:02Speaker 1: might be the reason here. But while it doesn't give
- 6:06Speaker 1: While that doesn't give sixty Minutes a pass on editing
- 6:11Speaker 1: and abandoning journalistic integrity, I do think they do deserve
- 6:16Speaker 1: kudos for actually holding themselves accountable and holding the door
- 6:20Speaker 1: open for President Trump to join their show, which he's
- 6:24Speaker 1: done before. But of course he also walked down on them,
- 6:28Speaker 1: so it's like a fifty to fifty with that. Now,
- 6:32Speaker 1: the other news story I want to get to is
- 6:36Speaker 1: there was an assassination attempt on Ben Njamanette, now who
- 6:40Speaker 1: this weekend, when drones attacked his vacation home. I guess
- 6:44Speaker 1: they thought he was there, and while there's minimal damage,
- 6:47Speaker 1: there's no doubt those drones are meant to kill him.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So many network doesn't call that an assassination attempt, then
- 6:57Speaker 1: they're not reporting correctly. But I will here on the
- 7:04Speaker 1: one leg up on news network, I will report that
- 7:07Speaker 1: that was an assassination attempt and I think Israel will
- 7:10Speaker 1: respond bigger and better. And why are we leaking and
- 7:14Speaker 1: surveilling Israel's plan? As I said last week, we had
- 7:18Speaker 1: a whole year to stop HMAS and we didn't. But
- 7:21Speaker 1: now they're surveilling Israel more closer than our enemies and
- 7:25Speaker 1: then our allies enemies the United States. That's scary. If
- 7:31Speaker 1: you're holding your allies with more surveillance than your enemies,
- 7:38Speaker 1: what does that say? And by the way, US Intel community,
- 7:44Speaker 1: are you aware that Ukraine is planning to have to
- 7:48Speaker 1: defend against only Russia but North Korea on November first?
- 7:53Speaker 1: This is a true story as well. November first, North
- 7:56Speaker 1: noc maybe in the mix to attack you Ukraine alongside Russia.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Have we heard a people about that from the Biden administration.
- 8:07Speaker 1: This is why you got to read the papers like
- 8:08Speaker 1: I do and try to to give you that one
- 8:11Speaker 1: leg up on news as best as I can, because
- 8:14Speaker 1: there could be another enemy a joining Russia in the
- 8:19Speaker 1: attack of Ukraine and even Romania. And the story below
- 8:25Speaker 1: that is afraid of their lives now because they've been
- 8:27Speaker 1: attacked by drones, saying it's Russian connected. So by an
- 8:35Speaker 1: administration last few months, are going to defend our allies
- 8:38Speaker 1: or not. I don't know if Trump will do much better,
- 8:45Speaker 1: but at least when we have the Biden musication, they
- 8:46Speaker 1: better defend our allies while they're still in there. That's
- 8:50Speaker 1: my one leg up on news today. Defend our allies
- 8:54Speaker 1: Ukraine and Israel. Don't survey Israel and League plans help them.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Don't just sit there and say they're just gonna be
- 9:01Speaker 1: an occursion again, this time by North Korea. Stop the
- 9:05Speaker 1: incursion by Noko right now before November first. And if
- 9:10Speaker 1: you're just finding out through this podcast for the first time,
- 9:12Speaker 1: that says a lot about the Intel community right now.
- 9:17Speaker 1: They're so preoccupied with Israel that they can't help them out.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And then finally today I heard on Koreean Jean Prayers
- 9:26Speaker 1: press briefing. They said two billion dollars have been doled
- 9:28Speaker 1: out to help out hurricane relief. Two billion dollars, so
- 9:38Speaker 1: hopefully that's going the right resources and hurricane relief. Just
- 9:43Speaker 1: want to throw that out there on the one look
- 9:45Speaker 1: Up on Sports Network, on the one look up on
- 9:50Speaker 1: News Network. But sports is news because the Liberty have
- 9:54Speaker 1: their parade down Broadway this week. That's a good note
- 9:57Speaker 1: to end on today. The Liberty the first time, and
- 10:01Speaker 1: they bring on Women's and WNBA Championship to New York
- 10:05Speaker 1: and they'll be parading down the Canyon of Heroes. Hopefully
- 10:07Speaker 1: this network will cover it. We'll see, but for now,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm Alex Garrett. Stay focused, stay aware. We can enjoy
- 10:16Speaker 1: the Yankees run, but we've got to look out for
- 10:20Speaker 1: our allies at the same time. And that's what I'm
- 10:22Speaker 1: doing here at the One leg Up Network.
