- 10:47Speaker 3: That's the news with Toby it Tilly in the morning,
- 10:49Speaker 3: Top stories at the top of the hour and coming
- 10:51Speaker 3: up in a few minutes. Eight six, six, nine two
- 10:53Speaker 3: seven forty three sixty one is the number. Do you
- 10:56Speaker 3: know anybody who's failed their driver's test in a really
- 10:59Speaker 3: hilarious embarrassing way. The average first time pass rate for
- 11:03Speaker 3: a driver's test forty five to fifty percent, So gotta
- 11:06Speaker 3: know who failed throw them under the bus snow pun intended?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Was it hilarious? Embarrassing? Got to hear that story, and
- 11:14Speaker 3: we will and we'll talk more about these stats coming
- 11:17Speaker 3: up driver's education. You know, I don't know if it's
- 11:22Speaker 3: the case now, but once upon a time they taught
- 11:24Speaker 3: that as a class in high school. Toby and Chilly
- 11:26Speaker 3: in the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 11:28Speaker 3: The average first time pass rate for a driver's test
- 11:31Speaker 3: is about forty five to fifty percent, which is interesting.
- 11:34Speaker 2: When you think about it.
- 11:35Speaker 3: After people on the road, according to that stat failed
- 11:38Speaker 3: the driver's test at least once or maybe twice.
- 11:40Speaker 4: That is really shocking to me that it's that high
- 11:43Speaker 4: because when we were taking the road test, because there's
- 11:46Speaker 4: a written part and then there's a road test, and
- 11:48Speaker 4: I'm guessing a lot of these people are, you know,
- 11:50Speaker 4: failing the road test because they get nervous. Sure, we
- 11:55Speaker 4: had to parallel park, we had to do three point turns,
- 11:58Speaker 4: We had to do a lot of maneuvering mm hm
- 12:00Speaker 4: when we took it. I don't want to sound like
- 12:02Speaker 4: I'm bragging, but I passed the first time.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Did you me too?
- 12:05Speaker 3: I had an unfair advantage I mean driving a golf
- 12:08Speaker 3: cart was like driving a car, only much much slower.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And I mean I grew up playing golf with my parents.
- 12:15Speaker 3: My grandparents had their own golf cart.
- 12:17Speaker 4: And yeah, by the time you got to a real vehicle,
- 12:19Speaker 4: you're like, I got this.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I can do this with my eyes closed to watch.
- 12:23Speaker 4: The only part that made me nervous was when we
- 12:26Speaker 4: did the highway portion, because that's whole changing lanes with
- 12:29Speaker 4: people kind of zipping by. I don't that made me nervous,
- 12:32Speaker 4: but I still passed. I mean it was still you know,
- 12:34Speaker 4: I was like extra cautious, like please, please don't let me,
- 12:37Speaker 4: you know, merge without signaling.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And it's yeah, very generational because you know, I remember
- 12:42Speaker 3: thinking the same thing when I took the highway part
- 12:44Speaker 3: of the test. My biggest problem was maintaining my speed.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Oh no, but I remember the law as a safe
- 12:53Speaker 3: and reasonable speed, which meant you needed to go with
- 12:56Speaker 3: the flow of traffic. You can just lock in it
- 12:58Speaker 3: at fifty five. But they I knew that they gave
- 13:00Speaker 3: you like ten miles an hour over.
- 13:02Speaker 6: I wouldn't risk it for a driving test.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Well I might have, but.
- 13:06Speaker 3: It was okay, I mean, safe and reasonable speed. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 3: they'll harm no foul.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Well, if nearly half the people are failing the first time,
- 13:14Speaker 4: then it begs the question, anyone listening who either themselves
- 13:17Speaker 4: or knows somebody who did fail their road test.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Tell us your story. Now, throw whomever it was, even
- 13:25Speaker 3: if it's you under the bus. We'll laugh together. So
- 13:27Speaker 3: how hilarious how embarrassing was at eight sixty six nine
- 13:30Speaker 3: two seven forty three sixty one. Talkbacks wide open too
- 13:33Speaker 3: if you want to leave us a talkback message, because
- 13:36Speaker 3: well you know, we understand and we'll get back into
- 13:39Speaker 3: this conversation coming up with Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Stay close Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 13:44Speaker 3: It is ninety seven point one wash FM, and we're
- 13:47Speaker 3: talking about this interesting stat related to driver's education this morning.
- 13:53Speaker 4: That nearly half of people actually fail their driver's license
- 13:57Speaker 4: test the first time, which got us wondering. Tell us
- 14:02Speaker 4: about a hilarious fail story.
- 14:04Speaker 11: Mm hmm.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Eight six six nine three sixty one is the number.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Talk back wide open too. If you're signed in listening
- 14:11Speaker 3: on your app this morning, your iHeart app, just tap
- 14:14Speaker 3: that microphone with the red circle around it and speak
- 14:17Speaker 3: unto us this morning in North Potomac, Chest City. I
- 14:21Speaker 3: understand you have a family member that had some issues
- 14:24Speaker 3: with this test.
- 14:25Speaker 12: My brother, he actually failed his driving test three times.
- 14:29Speaker 6: All right, tell us what happened.
- 14:31Speaker 12: So the first time he messed up parallel parking, he
- 14:35Speaker 12: kept hitting the cones, running them over. It was hilarious.
- 14:38Speaker 12: The second time he was supposed to turn his turn
- 14:41Speaker 12: signals and he for some reason kept doing the wrong
- 14:44Speaker 12: turn signals. The third time, he didn't even start the
- 14:48Speaker 12: truck and put it in neutral and it still went.
- 14:53Speaker 12: But then the instructor literally looked at him and said,
- 14:56Speaker 12: this thing isn't even on oof.
- 14:59Speaker 6: That is not good. I'm not getting to the car
- 15:03Speaker 6: with that guy.
- 15:04Speaker 3: No, I feel for you if you have to ride
- 15:07Speaker 3: anywhere with your bro. Thanks for the call this morning,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Chest City, and now to Winchester, ROBERTA.
- 15:13Speaker 2: What happened?
- 15:14Speaker 5: My brother failed it?
- 15:15Speaker 3: Another brother story seems to be a recurring theme.
- 15:19Speaker 6: What happened He hit a car.
- 15:21Speaker 7: He was actually supposed to turn left, and he turned
- 15:24Speaker 7: right onto a one way street. The instructor was telling
- 15:27Speaker 7: him to stop. He didn't stop. He just kept going
- 15:30Speaker 7: and then.
- 15:31Speaker 5: He hit a park car.
- 15:32Speaker 7: So then he had to wait a year after that
- 15:35Speaker 7: before he could take his driving test again, so he
- 15:37Speaker 7: didn't get his driver's license till he was twenty years old.
- 15:39Speaker 3: ROBERTA, Wow, thank you for telling us that story. I
- 15:43Speaker 3: hope that for the sake and safety of all the
- 15:45Speaker 3: people on the roadways, he's still got those magnets on
- 15:48Speaker 3: the back of the car that say rookie driver. You know,
- 15:52Speaker 3: just because Toby and Silly in the Morning on ninety
- 15:55Speaker 3: seven point one to watch FM, do you know anybody
- 15:57Speaker 3: who's failed the driving test in a hilarious is sort
- 16:00Speaker 3: of way?
