- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: It's been a minute since we convened for with Stu
- 0:06Speaker 2: Gotts and hawkmen. But yeah, I was in Europe for
- 0:09Speaker 2: a couple of weeks. You were in Lake Tahoe is
- 0:12Speaker 2: where you were?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Yep?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Taylor and I we were in Lake Tahoe for the
- 0:16Speaker 3: American Century Championship Golf tournament. I've been lucky enough to
- 0:20Speaker 3: go out there for about a decade now, and Taylor.
- 0:23Speaker 1: This was a second year.
- 0:24Speaker 3: And uh, Hawk, I realized everyone in Lake Tahoe is
- 0:27Speaker 3: cool and like you, they are walking around with sharpiees
- 0:30Speaker 3: in their mouths, and so you know, I went.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Excited to take one home. How about that? Now I
- 0:33Speaker 1: have a sharp great look at my man, great look.
- 0:36Speaker 2: More people should be walking around with sharpie'es. You asked
- 0:39Speaker 2: me right before we started the pod. You said, Hey,
- 0:41Speaker 2: are you a karaoke guy? And I am most definitely
- 0:44Speaker 2: not that It actually gives me a little bit of
- 0:46Speaker 2: the creeps right when I see like a karaoke bar,
- 0:50Speaker 2: a karaoke night, because people get they get infused with
- 0:56Speaker 2: this weird sense of talent that they don't normally have,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and I feel bad for people they go up there.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Some people get it, like you know, it's a goof
- 1:10Speaker 2: and they get up there and they act goofy or whatever.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That's kind of fun. But there are people that go
- 1:14Speaker 1: up there and.
- 1:15Speaker 2: They try to kill it, yeah, because they think they're
- 1:18Speaker 2: killing it. And it's like you ever watch American Idol
- 1:21Speaker 2: and you go that person can't really think they sing
- 1:24Speaker 2: well yeah, and then you find out, like do they
- 1:27Speaker 2: really think that? That happens in karaoke a lot? So
- 1:31Speaker 2: did you guys do karaoke?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Well, there is a celebrity karaoke night that for the
- 1:36Speaker 3: first time we were allowed in this year to check
- 1:39Speaker 3: it out. And the guy you're talking about who's up
- 1:41Speaker 3: there thinking that he's killing it, trying to kill it,
- 1:45Speaker 3: but is not killing it.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That celebrity would be Baker Mayfield. I mean really like
- 1:52Speaker 1: he was going all in.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he was going all in and I have no
- 1:56Speaker 3: doubt and I think Taylor would agree with me. If
- 1:58Speaker 3: you ask Baker Mayfield, he will say he noted it
- 2:00Speaker 3: out of the park. If you ask anyone else there,
- 2:02Speaker 3: they will tell you they were embarrassed.
- 2:04Speaker 1: On Baker Mayfield's behalf I mean half of that hack.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I don't know what Stud's doing because.
- 2:09Speaker 5: After Karaoke Knight, he came up to me he was like,
- 2:11Speaker 5: Baker was terrible, and I go, was he really?
- 2:14Speaker 4: I don't.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I don't have the same recollection of Baker being his
- 2:16Speaker 5: bad But apparently Baker Mayfield doing karaoke absolutely ruined Stu
- 2:22Speaker 5: Gotts's nuffe.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It just wasn't no no. Just the idea of him
- 2:25Speaker 1: thinking he killed.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It is what made my knight to be honest with you,
- 2:28Speaker 3: because he's that confident.
- 2:30Speaker 1: We saw Matthew and Brady could chuck up there. It
- 2:32Speaker 1: was so good. Hockey would have loved that, right, those
- 2:34Speaker 1: guys had to do like what born in the USA?
- 2:37Speaker 5: Dreamon?
- 2:37Speaker 1: H Yeah, dreamon? Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 4: They won Karaoke Knight.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Yeah yeah with Boldie right, yes, yep, the three USA
- 2:44Speaker 5: guys did dream On and because of the they also
- 2:47Speaker 5: had the gold medals with them and everybody was channing USA.
- 2:51Speaker 5: They won the Karaoke Night. I think it was like
- 2:53Speaker 5: a five thousand dollars prize.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Now, Hawk, how do you feel about real singers competing
- 2:57Speaker 3: in Karaoke Night? Like Jacob and his real singer who
- 3:00Speaker 3: competed in Karaoke Night. Alfonso Roberto was not a real singer,
- 3:04Speaker 3: but he's an entertainer and he structed at karaoke night.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah that that see to me, that's kind of cool.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I'm down with that. Like if you can actually sing
- 3:14Speaker 2: and you're known for it, or Alfonso Roberto, I'm guessing
- 3:17Speaker 2: he had to do that, Tom Jones, it's not unusual
- 3:20Speaker 2: to be because then he does the Fresh Prince dance,
- 3:22Speaker 2: right the uh what did the Carlton dance?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Is that what he did?
- 3:26Speaker 5: So he got two songs. Actually he got Don't Don't
- 3:30Speaker 5: let the Sun and then Uptown Funk.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah he did Elton Don't let the Sun Go Down
- 3:35Speaker 2: on Me. That's Elton John and Uptown Funk is.
- 3:39Speaker 4: It was an eighties night. Yeah, it was an eighties
- 3:42Speaker 4: night theme.
- 3:42Speaker 1: He was an eighties night. Yeah yeah yeah. But Uptown
- 3:45Speaker 1: Funk that's like from twenty twelve.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I think that's why he got a second song.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yeah right, he's Alfonso Roberto. He does whatever the hell
- 3:51Speaker 1: he wants out there. I mean, he's the he's one
- 3:53Speaker 1: of the mayors out there.
- 3:54Speaker 5: But close your eyes and imagine Jack Wagner singing back
- 3:57Speaker 5: in the USSR.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Jack Wagner's the singer though, Yes, yes, yes, great single.
- 4:02Speaker 1: What your karaoke songs do? Guts?
- 4:06Speaker 3: Oh wow, that's a great question, something Grateful Dead related.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I think if I h yeah, yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: If I had to do it, I don't know nobody
- 4:15Speaker 2: does Dead songs though at a karaoke night, right they
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't even have that in the system, right.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Which because the only one who knows that, right, yeah, yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 3: totally kill the vibe.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I would have like one hit they had, which is
- 4:27Speaker 1: touch a great, such a great. Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 2: You know, I get into these weird moods when I'm
- 4:32Speaker 2: flying and then I gotta like clear my head. So
- 4:36Speaker 2: you know, I was in We flew from West Palm
- 4:40Speaker 2: to Philly to Zurich, and then when we came home,
- 4:42Speaker 2: we flew Milan to Philly to West Palm. And on
- 4:48Speaker 2: these long flights, like I can only watch a couple
- 4:50Speaker 2: of movies maybe usually one movie, maybe a couple episodes
- 4:54Speaker 2: a curb, Like I don't know. I'm I'm like not
- 4:57Speaker 2: into like just sitting there and watching stuff for e
- 5:00Speaker 2: nine hours. But then I'll put on my headphones and
- 5:02Speaker 2: I've got to listen to something to just kind of
- 5:05Speaker 2: clear my head. And I have a little mini Grateful
- 5:08Speaker 2: Dead playlist that I listened to fifteen times in a
- 5:13Speaker 2: row from Milan to Philly. I was just vibing with it.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You want to hear the songs that I have on
- 5:19Speaker 2: my dead playlist? Yes, I would love to hear that.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm surprised that you have a dead playlist. Yeah, I
- 5:23Speaker 1: don't know. I must have been in a weird place
- 5:26Speaker 1: when I made this.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Right, I have Touch of Gray, Right, Sugar Magnolia, Nice,
- 5:35Speaker 2: Uncle John's Band, Right, Casey Jones, Friend of the Devil, Nice,
- 5:43Speaker 2: I fought the law.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And trucking'. Okay, so you have the greatest hits essentially
- 5:50Speaker 1: pretty much? Yeah. Yeah, I think I'm a deadhead. Right,
- 5:56Speaker 1: it doesn't work? Does your head get cleared? Yeah? I
- 6:00Speaker 1: don't know.
- 6:00Speaker 2: There is a certain vibe to it, like when you
- 6:03Speaker 2: don't want to care about anything anymore.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That happened to me a long time ago. So in
- 6:16Speaker 1: nineteen eighty nine.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Got a lot of dms over the course of the
- 6:21Speaker 2: last few weeks. And I love when listeners have a
- 6:26Speaker 2: huge announcement to make as well. Let's just say Horsemuffins
- 6:31Speaker 2: dot Com is back. Okay, this was a website. I
- 6:36Speaker 2: don't know you even know it, Taylor, This is a
- 6:38Speaker 2: website that I created when I was on the LeBatard Show.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I said we should sell t shirts and hats. And
- 6:45Speaker 2: this was before the days where everything was so easy,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and so I made this website, horse muffins dot com.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think I had Ozzie Rodriguez doing the designs for me.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Maybe I can't remember, and they were pretty rudimentary.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Then when I left seven ninety the Ticket and I
- 7:05Speaker 2: went to five sixty, which is now one oh four
- 7:08Speaker 2: point three, I started a website called honked Off Like
- 7:12Speaker 2: a Goose dot com. It was a character, a bit
- 7:16Speaker 2: that I would do often, honked Off like.
- 7:17Speaker 1: A Goose, and.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I was selling shirts and stuff and we had a
- 7:22Speaker 2: few that it just wasn't worth my time. Well, my
- 7:25Speaker 2: son has graduated from college. He's very good at graphic design.
- 7:29Speaker 2: He just signed a lease for an apartment up in Tampa.
- 7:31Speaker 2: He's been here in South Florida because he went to
- 7:34Speaker 2: Europe with us, and he's been living here in the
- 7:37Speaker 2: apartment with us for the last few weeks.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And so we've been.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Looking for a project to do together, and so we
- 7:43Speaker 2: have relaunched horse Muffins dot com.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You can go there right now.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You'll see I have some Hawkmancrowder and Solana merch. But
- 7:51Speaker 2: I've got some classic merch from our era, you know,
- 7:57Speaker 2: of the LeBatard Show. I've got a Wannie mcstash his
- 8:00Speaker 2: shirt which is like the original Wanting mc stats. I
- 8:02Speaker 2: got the old seven ninety to ticket logo shirt and
- 8:05Speaker 2: lots of other things shirts with our podcast logo on
- 8:09Speaker 2: it and anyway. But my thought was, you know, if
- 8:15Speaker 2: we're doing this podcast, it's free for everybody. We can
- 8:20Speaker 2: put it behind a paywall, we can put it on Patreon,
- 8:22Speaker 2: we can do a lot of things.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's free.
- 8:25Speaker 5: And my.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Thought for the listeners of this is, hey, go buy
- 8:29Speaker 2: a shirt. It's like twenty five bucks. You buy a
- 8:32Speaker 2: shirt that's your It's almost like a PBS telethon. Now
- 8:37Speaker 2: you get the PBS programming, you get the Hawkman Stugotts
- 8:41Speaker 2: tailor programming for.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Free for the year, and you get a shirt out
- 8:45Speaker 1: of it.
- 8:46Speaker 2: So think of it like, hey, it's two dollars a
- 8:48Speaker 2: month to enjoy with Hawkman and Stu Gotts.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And not only is it two dollars a month, but
- 8:53Speaker 1: you get a free T shirt with it.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Yeah, go to horse Muffins, yep, right, go to horsemuffins
- 8:59Speaker 3: dot com. Buy a shirt by a hoodie, buy a sweatshirt.
- 9:02Speaker 3: It's your way of supporting this show.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yes, and by the way, it doesn't do anything for
- 9:06Speaker 1: the show.
- 9:06Speaker 2: One hundred percent of it is going to go to
- 9:08Speaker 2: my son who is trying to find his way in
- 9:10Speaker 2: life after graduating college.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So I don't remember agreeing to that, but if you
- 9:15Speaker 1: say so, I mean one hundred percent it is his store.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Think of it as a way to say, you know what, Hawk,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I remember when he was a little baby and Dan
- 9:27Speaker 2: was hiding him in the middle of a street in
- 9:29Speaker 2: a stroller. And now I hear he's graduated from college,
- 9:33Speaker 2: and I want to support the young fella. And so
- 9:36Speaker 2: if you want to do so, you can go to
- 9:38Speaker 2: horse muffins dot com.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Or because I don't think.
- 9:41Speaker 2: The listeners of my radio show know what horse Muffins is,
- 9:45Speaker 2: it's also Hawk Looves Avocadotoast dot com that also will
- 9:50Speaker 2: send you to the T shirt store. I'll use that
- 9:54Speaker 2: more for the radio audience, but for the podcast audience
- 9:57Speaker 2: it is horse muffins dot com.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So your son gets one hundred percent of the of
- 10:02Speaker 3: the money that flows into this site. Does he have
- 10:05Speaker 3: to deal with one hundred percent of the seasoned desist.
- 10:08Speaker 1: That comes his way. He got a one hundred percent
- 10:11Speaker 1: of Mark Hakman.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And Mark Hackman, who demands stuff in a work environment,
- 10:17Speaker 2: is a lot different than Mark Hakman on a trip
- 10:19Speaker 2: to Italy and Bayania.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Whatever you want, uh, hak you will, you will love this.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Two things about Tahoe quickly. Larry David was there at
- 10:27Speaker 3: number two?
- 10:28Speaker 1: Is enough? We was he? He was there? Yeah, it's
- 10:32Speaker 1: enough with him? Yeah, okay, all right. Why you're tired
- 10:35Speaker 1: to Larry David suddenly, it's.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Because his whole shtick is, oh, I hate being around crowds.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I hate being around celebrities. Yet he's at Obama's birthday party.
- 10:45Speaker 2: He's at the fucking Lake Tahoe event.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Oh I hate I hate to right, I hate being
- 10:52Speaker 2: around photographers gather around me while I make you laugh.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I hate doing talk shows. And here I am on Kimmel.
- 10:59Speaker 2: It's like, okay, you're You're not the guy you're portraying
- 11:03Speaker 2: to be. You may have been at one point, but
- 11:05Speaker 2: now you're just the Hollywood guy.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Okay. So I thought that would be that much different.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I was wrong.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I had no idea you had these pent up feelings
- 11:16Speaker 3: about Larry David.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But you get what I'm saying though, right, he's he's
- 11:20Speaker 2: so adamant.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Oh, I hate the celebrity everything. Anywhere there's a fucking
- 11:26Speaker 1: celebrity thing, he's there. Yeah, he doesn't have to be there.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I hear you, Taylor, you had something there because I
- 11:36Speaker 3: was gonna tell him something else.
- 11:37Speaker 4: God, Yeah, can I try one?
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 11:40Speaker 4: In Lake Tahoe, Jason Chef was there. Frontman from Chicago.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oh, yes, there's only one front man from Chicago. It's
- 11:49Speaker 1: Peter Setara. He's right, you know.
- 11:51Speaker 3: So in Taylor's defense, I told Taylor that the lead
- 11:55Speaker 3: singer of Chicago is potentially someone that.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Would woo you more cock mean out to. But he
- 12:02Speaker 1: is right.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Peter Katara is the only lead singer of Shata. I'm
- 12:05Speaker 3: dary Calim Peter Kata Cinta. I'm sorry, but maybe this
- 12:09Speaker 3: will get him out there. I was sitting at a
- 12:11Speaker 3: bar and Ray Romano sat right next to me, and
- 12:15Speaker 3: what did he order?
- 12:16Speaker 1: An apperol sprits. Get out of here. I swear to
- 12:19Speaker 1: got out of here. That's my motherfucker. That's why everybody
- 12:24Speaker 1: loves Raymond. Put it on the poll. Is that why
- 12:27Speaker 1: everyone loves Raymond? Oh?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Did I have Aperol sprits? I mean NonStop? In Italy.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I have literally changed that country. You know, Aperol Sprits
- 12:37Speaker 2: is super popular because of me. I do, yes, yes, yes,
- 12:41Speaker 2: So I really leaned into the bit for the last
- 12:45Speaker 2: couple of years talking about apparal sprint.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You start drinking them all the time. A little overrated
- 12:54Speaker 1: as great as uh not as great as I may
- 12:57Speaker 1: have led people to believe.
- 13:02Speaker 2: But I still love avocado toast, of course you do.
- 13:04Speaker 2: And I had avocado toast in Switzerland Italy. Yeah, just
- 13:09Speaker 2: can't get enough of the avocado toast.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Hawk glovesavocado tooast dot com.
- 13:13Speaker 2: There's a logo where hawk is spelled the O and
- 13:16Speaker 2: hawk is spelled with an avocado.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That's quality, Is that right? There's a Hanika gift right there.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna buy two. Anyway.
- 13:29Speaker 2: We posted a couple of episodes while we were on vacation,
- 13:35Speaker 2: and I love when listeners DM me and I'll read
- 13:38Speaker 2: you some of the dms. There are some listeners who
- 13:42Speaker 2: have their own audio clips of stuff they've saved for years,
- 13:46Speaker 2: and they're funny, like the stuff that people go hey,
- 13:49Speaker 2: I've been listening to this or I've carried this around
- 13:52Speaker 2: on my phone for years. This was somebody had had
- 13:59Speaker 2: DM me several people. Have you find one of the dms.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You can always DM me on Instagram. It's Radio Mark
- 14:04Speaker 2: Hawkman on Instagram. I really do try to respond to everybody.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Somebody DM me. Here's a suggestion for the pod. I
- 14:16Speaker 2: haven't heard either of you. Mention, would you be able
- 14:19Speaker 2: to play some clips from the morning show you and
- 14:22Speaker 2: Stu Gotts did together during the heat run. Those shows
- 14:26Speaker 2: were memorable. I understand why Dan didn't like you both
- 14:29Speaker 2: doing two days, but it made for a great full
- 14:33Speaker 2: day of hilarious local radio.
- 14:35Speaker 1: That's true if you.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Were a Dan and Stu Gotts and Hawk fan, I
- 14:39Speaker 2: mean you got it from Morning Drive and Afternoon Drive.
- 14:42Speaker 2: You got eight hours a day during the Heat's epic
- 14:47Speaker 2: first run. Eight hours a day, And obviously that did
- 14:52Speaker 2: create some tensions because Stu Gotts and I were having
- 14:54Speaker 2: fun doing this morning show on our own. But somebody,
- 14:58Speaker 2: another person sent me a clip. They said, this is
- 15:01Speaker 2: a clip I have from you and Stu Gott's during
- 15:05Speaker 2: two days. You're just banging through calls and you kind
- 15:09Speaker 2: of were channeling. I think you were making fun of
- 15:11Speaker 2: Hank Goldberg, and you were channeling the way that he
- 15:15Speaker 2: would just bang through calls and so and and I
- 15:18Speaker 2: think people knew when they were calling in that we
- 15:20Speaker 2: were going to do this to them. But here is
- 15:22Speaker 2: the clip that this person had had messaged me.
- 15:25Speaker 1: On Rod's on a mobile phone. Rob go ahead, huh,
- 15:30Speaker 1: what's what's up?
- 15:33Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 15:33Speaker 1: Man, I was calling that. You know, I think it
- 15:34Speaker 1: brought it be much better if he was fasting. Stupid,
- 15:37Speaker 1: a terrible, dumb call. Let's go to Anthony. Anthony go ahead, Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Hi, Lombardo listen.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Stupid, huh, stupid? Hang up? You heard the man, he's
- 15:49Speaker 1: the gatekeeper. Let's go to Alex.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Alex, go ahead.
- 15:53Speaker 2: So what about it?
- 15:55Speaker 7: Jack Rose was just told a really funny joke while
- 15:58Speaker 7: he was up there yesterday.
- 16:00Speaker 1: What about if we hung up on you? Hang up
- 16:01Speaker 1: on that guy? What a stupid call. Let's go to Carlos. Carlos,
- 16:05Speaker 1: go ahead. Hey, my name is that Carlos, but I'll
- 16:09Speaker 1: do it anyhow. You got that's dumb, Carlos.
- 16:12Speaker 3: When I say let's go to Carlos and the mobile phone,
- 16:15Speaker 3: don't start your call with Hey, it's Carlos.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Just be Carlos. We've established that. Let's go to Alix.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Who's them Boka today? Go ahead, Alex, that's dumb. Let's
- 16:24Speaker 3: go to uh, Let's go to Sam. Sam, go ahead,
- 16:28Speaker 3: you stupid, Let's go to Carlos. Carlos, go ahead.
- 16:32Speaker 8: Moron, Moron, Moron sandwiches, honey, so mean, really, but people,
- 16:41Speaker 8: we did stuff on that morning show.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I recall where do you remember a segment called Hawk
- 16:47Speaker 2: talks Game to your Girl.
- 16:51Speaker 1: We asked people.
- 16:52Speaker 2: To call in if they were in their car at
- 16:54Speaker 2: home getting ready in the morning, and then put their
- 16:57Speaker 2: girlfriend or wife on the phone and I would I
- 16:59Speaker 2: would run game on her.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Yes, but you didn't have the sharpie in your mouth
- 17:04Speaker 3: at the time. It would have helped, because when you
- 17:06Speaker 3: just said it with the sharpie in your mouth, it
- 17:07Speaker 3: was a different game.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I mean, when you run game on someone you got
- 17:10Speaker 2: the sharpie in your mouth, I mean, forget about it's
- 17:12Speaker 2: a closed deals.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Taylor Hockey run on people's girlfriends. And I was good
- 17:17Speaker 1: at it. It was good at it.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yes, that was my prime. It was my prime. I'm
- 17:22Speaker 2: past my prime now. Unfortunately, this is a deep cut.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I think the same listener may have sent it. There's
- 17:31Speaker 2: a million Hackman clips when I would go on the
- 17:34Speaker 2: radio shows as Mark Hackman, yes uh and do the
- 17:39Speaker 2: amburg Queso and all the different stuff that has U
- 17:44Speaker 2: s don solmos monte kuilla, which is tonight we are
- 17:48Speaker 2: all butter, But I made it mean something totally different.
- 17:51Speaker 1: This is a deep cut.
- 17:52Speaker 2: This is Mark Hackman on the radio and you can
- 17:57Speaker 2: hear Dan and Stugott's up.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So I'm what would happen is somebody.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Would you know, from a radio station across the country,
- 18:06Speaker 2: would request Dan to come on and talk about the heat.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And Dan didn't want to do these little radio hits.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So we created this character, Mark Hackman, who would say
- 18:14Speaker 2: absurdities cliches, and I would record it off the radio
- 18:20Speaker 2: station that I was doing it on, and then we'd
- 18:23Speaker 2: play it back for you and Dan and you guys
- 18:25Speaker 2: would hear it for the first time live on the
- 18:27Speaker 2: air and you'd be cracking up.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And this is one of those moments, you guys.
- 18:30Speaker 2: You can hear Dan and Stugott's cracking up as they
- 18:34Speaker 2: hear this on the air for the first time.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Tell me about Mario Chalmers A couple other heat things.
- 18:38Speaker 9: We're talking to Mark Hackman seven ninety the ticket in Miami.
- 18:41Speaker 9: Couple of guys away from the Big three, both starters
- 18:44Speaker 9: in Battier and Chalmers. I thought they were really good
- 18:47Speaker 9: last night, specifically Chalmers. I mean we've seen him fill
- 18:50Speaker 9: it up, you know, we played basketball here in Big
- 18:53Speaker 9: twelfth Country. But on the boards last night he was terrific.
- 18:57Speaker 9: And I thought Shane Battier had a real nice game
- 18:59Speaker 9: last night.
- 19:00Speaker 10: H was so important to get some of these role
- 19:03Speaker 10: players doing what they need to be doing. You know,
- 19:06Speaker 10: here in Miami, obviously there's a huge Cuban population, and
- 19:09Speaker 10: we have a nickname for Mario Chalmers to go to Caeso,
- 19:13Speaker 10: which is the one who has no real definitions.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Okay, know what you're.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Getting right, Yeah, Yeah, Sometimes you get in with Mario.
- 19:24Speaker 10: Sometimes you get the bad Mario. Sometimes you have him,
- 19:28Speaker 10: sometimes you don't. Sometimes he's there, sometimes he's not, and
- 19:32Speaker 10: he's frustrating, and then you love him, you wanna you
- 19:34Speaker 10: wanna hug him and put him in your pocket and
- 19:36Speaker 10: take him everywhere you go, and then there's other times
- 19:38Speaker 10: that you don't even want to hear his name.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm surprised that that one that they didn't recognize that one.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I mean, that wasn't even really the Taco Bells in Iowa.
- 20:00Speaker 2: That was a great, great run. That Mark Hackman era,
- 20:03Speaker 2: that was a great run. Yes, this is something I
- 20:08Speaker 2: just wanted to play for you because it's funny to me.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Someone sent this to me and they said, you won't
- 20:14Speaker 2: believe Stu Gotts and I'm like, yeah, no, I will.
- 20:17Speaker 1: There's not much that can shock me.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And there's really not anything you could said Hawk at
- 20:23Speaker 3: this point where you wouldn't believe.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You and Dan are on the air.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I don't know if I was there because Mike Ryan's there,
- 20:31Speaker 2: because Mike was going to hop on the mic. But
- 20:33Speaker 2: then you you kept on talking Channing Crowder, who's my
- 20:39Speaker 2: radio partner now? And you you know Channing, you love.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Channing had just been cut by the Dolphins and he
- 20:46Speaker 2: had some harsh words about Jeff Ireland, who is the
- 20:48Speaker 2: GM who cut up right now, what do you think
- 20:50Speaker 2: your take is?
- 20:53Speaker 3: So this is Channing being cut by Jeff Ireland, right and.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Now Channing has words about Jeff Ireland. So I believe
- 21:02Speaker 1: my take would have been, hey, do it before you
- 21:04Speaker 1: get cut. That would be.
- 21:09Speaker 2: You're consistent of nothing. Here is that little audio clip.
- 21:12Speaker 11: It's funny, Channing Crowder says of general manager Jeff Ireland quote,
- 21:20Speaker 11: he doesn't know what he's doing. He's real disrespectful, he
- 21:24Speaker 11: doesn't know how to deal with people.
- 21:27Speaker 1: He's not a good person. He has no class. What
- 21:33Speaker 1: are redeeming qualities there? Huh? Why are you making a
- 21:38Speaker 1: sour face? Mike Ryan? What's the sour face about?
- 21:41Speaker 3: I don't like that quote from Channing Crowder. He's no
- 21:43Speaker 3: longer on the team. Channing Crowder, right, he's no longer
- 21:46Speaker 3: on the team. I just don't you know. I don't
- 21:48Speaker 3: like that quote from Channing Crowder. You know why Dan
- 21:52Speaker 3: for starters? Channing Crowder didn't do enough. I don't even
- 21:55Speaker 3: care about the quote. To be honest with you, he
- 21:56Speaker 3: wasn't good enough on the field where I would care,
- 21:59Speaker 3: and he did that quote any sort of credence?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Who cares what? Channing Crowder says? Why did I choose
- 22:04Speaker 1: that story?
- 22:05Speaker 3: Channing Crowder clearly has an axe to grind.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Jeez, no class. Well, he's not a good person, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: would say, is the quote in there? That? It's pretty harsh?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Not a good person, no class, doesn't know what he's doing.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I thought he did a great job last off season,
- 22:27Speaker 3: and I'm interested to see what he'll do this offseason.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I love Jeff Ireland, I.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Mean truly, one of the worst general managers in Dalbin's history.
- 22:40Speaker 6: Was literally no reason to even like Jeff Ireland love him.
- 22:49Speaker 2: But I love that clip because the guy sends it
- 22:51Speaker 2: to me and he's like, hey, here's Stu Gott's years
- 22:54Speaker 2: ago and talking about your radio partner. And again, I'm
- 22:56Speaker 2: with Channing every day. We do the radio show every afternoon.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And I just find that uproariously funny because you like
- 23:02Speaker 2: Channing as well, the takes in there that Channing you
- 23:05Speaker 2: weren't good enough.
- 23:06Speaker 1: To do it on the field.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And also I'm excited to see what Jeff Ireland has
- 23:10Speaker 2: in store this Dolphins team because land of Jeff Ireland.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Don't let Channing hear that, please, I will protect you.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Buy three shirts at Horsewappins dot com and that that
- 23:28Speaker 2: will never be replayed.
- 23:29Speaker 1: On my show. Is there just a Channing shirt? I
- 23:32Speaker 1: will buy? Is there? I love Chanting shirts. Channing was
- 23:36Speaker 1: good enough shirt. It's so perfect though. Everyone knew that
- 23:42Speaker 1: was coming a mile away, right, Oh yes, yes at
- 23:47Speaker 1: that point? Yeah, yeah, so perfect.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Then I got this DM and this is like a
- 23:54Speaker 2: quick hitter. I like being the piano bar request guy Hawk,
- 23:58Speaker 2: thanks for doing the show with Stu Guy. It brings
- 24:00Speaker 2: me a real dependable hit of joy every time I
- 24:03Speaker 2: hear you guys, can you find the old Chestnut? And
- 24:06Speaker 2: I love calling a song an old chestnut? Can you
- 24:10Speaker 2: find the old chestnut? When Fake Pavaratti saying antwine, don't
- 24:15Speaker 2: shoot the ball, please pass it to Shaquille, it reminds
- 24:19Speaker 2: me of the best part of my life being in
- 24:22Speaker 2: Miami and hearing you guys every afternoon. Do you remember
- 24:25Speaker 2: that cut?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Well?
- 24:27Speaker 2: I remember Fake Pavaratti. Of course, he's one of the
- 24:30Speaker 2: particular cut though. When you hear it, you're gonna go
- 24:32Speaker 2: You're gonna be like, oh my god. We played the
- 24:34Speaker 2: five thousand times.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yes, I well, I feel like I remember it. I
- 24:39Speaker 3: don't remember the song. I just thought there were so
- 24:41Speaker 3: many great Pavarati moments, fake Paparadi moments that I'm not
- 24:45Speaker 3: certain like there's any one that well, is there one
- 24:48Speaker 3: that stands out to you?
- 24:49Speaker 2: This one is gonna this one's gonna uh tingle your toes?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Great bitch, Wow, Jim Manditch is something all the Late
- 24:57Speaker 3: Jim It's gonna make my toe single.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Here it is.
- 25:02Speaker 2: This is a fake Pavaratti. This is by request on
- 25:05Speaker 2: DM on Instagram.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Suck.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's a great request, a great request, and I appreciate
- 25:32Speaker 2: a quick hitter like that. Hey, can you play the
- 25:35Speaker 2: fake Pavaratti chestnut?
- 25:37Speaker 1: And boom? There it is.
- 25:38Speaker 2: We play it and we're on because a lot of
- 25:40Speaker 2: people they want an entire episode, you know, and I
- 25:43Speaker 2: get it. We're gonna do all this stuff. I mean,
- 25:45Speaker 2: that's the here's a DM that I got. Hey, Mark,
- 25:47Speaker 2: I've been listening to the dls. I've been listening to
- 25:50Speaker 2: DLS back when you were on the show. It's been
- 25:51Speaker 2: really great listen that you and Stu Gotts now do
- 25:54Speaker 2: the podcast have to say.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It was pissed when you left the show, but.
- 25:57Speaker 2: It's been great listening to you on one oh four
- 25:59Speaker 2: point three in five point sixty. I don't know if
- 26:02Speaker 2: you really mentioned what happened and why you left the show,
- 26:06Speaker 2: just curious keep doing what you're doing, and wanted to
- 26:10Speaker 2: know if you could broach that on the podcast. First off,
- 26:15Speaker 2: that's a whole show, but I think we've done it
- 26:17Speaker 2: several times. If you look at this podcast. I don't
- 26:21Speaker 2: know if you're watching it on YouTube, you're listening on
- 26:24Speaker 2: the iHeart app, you're listening.
- 26:25Speaker 1: On Apple podcasts.
- 26:27Speaker 2: But if you go back, if you look at this
- 26:29Speaker 2: actual channel and go back towards the beginning, you'll see
- 26:32Speaker 2: ste Goott's and I have had the first episode that
- 26:35Speaker 2: I ever did with you, which I think is under
- 26:39Speaker 2: this podcast heading as well. We went deep into the
- 26:43Speaker 2: woods on how I ended up being off the show
- 26:46Speaker 2: and what transpired to make all that stuff happen. I
- 26:49Speaker 2: don't mind talking about it, because we've talked about it
- 26:51Speaker 2: ad nauseum.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I just think people who do know the story get
- 26:55Speaker 1: bored of hearing it over and over. So it is
- 26:57Speaker 1: there on the podcast. Yes, it's out there. Listen to it.
- 27:00Speaker 3: It's one of the first episodes we did, so people
- 27:03Speaker 3: can can access it.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Somebody says, uh, and again, you can DM me any questions,
- 27:07Speaker 2: show clips, whatever you want to do, quick hitters, it's radio.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Mark Hackman on Instagram. This person says, Hak, I love
- 27:14Speaker 2: you and Stu Gott's together started listening to the show
- 27:16Speaker 2: after you left. However, all these bits you're bringing up
- 27:19Speaker 2: on the show lasted way past your time.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I'm loving the origin stories. This was after your time?
- 27:27Speaker 2: But can you ask Stu about the origins of Wake
- 27:30Speaker 2: and Take? And the caller Reshem Rasham.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Oh?
- 27:38Speaker 4: PJ. Fleck is a boso Oh?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Is that the call? Maybe we should ask Taylor about it?
- 27:44Speaker 1: He might know more about it. I interviewed PJ. Fleck
- 27:47Speaker 1: and Big ten Media Days. No you didn't. I did?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Why because why? First of all, why am I at
- 27:54Speaker 1: Big ten Media Days? But bjle So you want the
- 28:00Speaker 1: origins of of wake and Take? Is that? What is take?
- 28:05Speaker 1: I mean, I know what and take is, but what
- 28:06Speaker 1: is that on the Levantard Show? So wake and Take?
- 28:10Speaker 3: It's It's interesting because I thought, now thinking back to it,
- 28:14Speaker 3: I thought it may have started on the morning show
- 28:16Speaker 3: that you and I did, because wake and Take is
- 28:19Speaker 3: obviously a play on words with wake and Bay.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I don't remember doing that. What was that?
- 28:24Speaker 3: I don't remember remember doing that right show? So it's
- 28:27Speaker 3: it's a segment that I did, I guess in the
- 28:31Speaker 3: afternoon with U when Mike was there and it was
- 28:34Speaker 3: really you know, Dan was off Wake and Take. It
- 28:36Speaker 3: was just really wake up, give me your take, and
- 28:38Speaker 3: get the hell off the radio.
- 28:40Speaker 1: And we called it Wake and Take and put some
- 28:41Speaker 1: good music behind it.
- 28:43Speaker 3: The origins was us just trying to think of anything
- 28:45Speaker 3: that was fun and different and something we had it
- 28:47Speaker 3: done before.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And so that was Rash. Ration was a guy Taylor.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Do you remember Ration, because I do remember the name,
- 28:54Speaker 3: I don't remember his importance to Wake and Take.
- 28:57Speaker 5: It was a caller from New York named a Rash
- 29:00Speaker 5: and then after every time he gave a take he
- 29:02Speaker 5: would say rash them.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Okay instead of rack them right. But how did that
- 29:07Speaker 3: turn into Wake and Take?
- 29:09Speaker 7: I think he was just a staple caller in Wake
- 29:13Speaker 7: and Take and so so, and we just started doing
- 29:16Speaker 7: waking take on of from off of him, just just
- 29:18Speaker 7: riffing off of him.
- 29:20Speaker 5: I think he was just like Wake and Take had
- 29:24Speaker 5: like a set like ten or so callers that would
- 29:27Speaker 5: always call, and a Rash from New York was always
- 29:30Speaker 5: one of them.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Oh and people like waited on his take for the morning,
- 29:34Speaker 1: or the PJ.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Fleck is a bozo was like his signature.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Take.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yes, that was a sign off, Yes, PJ. Fleck is
- 29:40Speaker 2: a bozo. One other DM. I'll read you Hak, I
- 29:44Speaker 2: know you've traveling.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I'm back.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Obviously I wanted to send you a screenshot for a
- 29:48Speaker 2: YouTube video clip of a best of moment for Best
- 29:52Speaker 2: of Moment from The LeBatard Show in twenty ten. The
- 29:55Speaker 2: video features a lot of talking regarding NBA free agency
- 29:59Speaker 2: in the summer of two thous ten when the Big
- 30:00Speaker 2: Three were coming together, but also at the thirty six
- 30:03Speaker 2: minute mark, you'll find sound of Stugotts talking about leaving
- 30:07Speaker 2: the two thousand and three Miami Hurricanes Florida Gators game early, in.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Which the Canes had that huge comeback.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Channing Crowder was in that game, by the way, he
- 30:15Speaker 2: played for the Gators. Stug Gotts admitted he left early
- 30:20Speaker 2: to go to PF Chang's and had Mongolian beef. He
- 30:25Speaker 2: also admitted to lying to his radio audience at the
- 30:28Speaker 2: time in the next day saying he had watched the
- 30:32Speaker 2: entire game in person, and he ripped knes fans for
- 30:36Speaker 2: leaving early.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I did, That's right, yep, I'm not a Caning. Thanks
- 30:40Speaker 1: again for the pod you're doing with Stu Gotts.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I really appreciate it. I remember that story for it
- 30:45Speaker 2: was like you revealed that for a year or two
- 30:49Speaker 2: you ripped knes fans for leaving that Miami Florida game early.
- 30:52Speaker 2: That was the brock Berlin game. And then you revealed
- 30:56Speaker 2: finally one day on the Levittard Show that you had
- 30:58Speaker 2: left early. Go get Mongolian beef.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And yep, yep.
- 31:02Speaker 3: This is when I was getting really comfortable and.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Did not mind just pulling the curtain all.
- 31:06Speaker 3: The way back so they could see just how fraudulented industry.
- 31:09Speaker 1: This is so.
- 31:10Speaker 3: What I did is, yes, I blasted you fans for
- 31:14Speaker 3: leaving a game early, a game that I attended, a
- 31:17Speaker 3: game that for a year they thought I had stayed
- 31:18Speaker 3: till the final whistle because I am a loyal Gains fan,
- 31:23Speaker 3: which I am not by the way.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I blasted them for a year, and then I felt
- 31:26Speaker 1: like it was time.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I was comfortable enough, I was relaxed enough, and I said, hey,
- 31:29Speaker 3: you know what, games fans, I apologize, I too left
- 31:32Speaker 3: the game at halftime.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I watched the second half eating Lennis Reps. There's so
- 31:38Speaker 1: many moments like that.
- 31:40Speaker 2: I try to tell people while I'm myself on the radio,
- 31:44Speaker 2: I'm also playing a character, of course, and the character
- 31:48Speaker 2: is Mark Hackman, radio guy.
- 31:50Speaker 1: But I revealed we did there.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Was a you know, one of these wacky days I
- 31:56Speaker 2: was like, you know, today is whatever. This this past
- 31:58Speaker 2: weekend was seven to eleven Days Day, because it was
- 32:00Speaker 2: July eleventh, seven eleven. There's always wacky days. There was
- 32:04Speaker 2: a day several years ago and that they have it
- 32:06Speaker 2: every year called Tell the Truth Day. And so I
- 32:09Speaker 2: told Crowder and Solana, hey, we're all going to reveal
- 32:13Speaker 2: something about ourselves on today's show that no one knows
- 32:18Speaker 2: and fore Tell the Truth Day.
- 32:20Speaker 1: And so I do this.
- 32:22Speaker 2: What I thought was just a reveal that was going
- 32:25Speaker 2: to get me killed. Like I revealed, this was a
- 32:28Speaker 2: couple of years ago, so it was at twenty twenty
- 32:30Speaker 2: six now, so I'm going to say this was like
- 32:31Speaker 2: twenty twenty three. Whenever anybody does favorite movie lists, you know,
- 32:38Speaker 2: top ten movies of all time, what do you have
- 32:40Speaker 2: to have in the at least in the top three
- 32:42Speaker 2: The Godfather? So I've had that in my top three forever.
- 32:45Speaker 1: My reveal was I've never seen it.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I had never seen The Godfather, but because I didn't
- 32:52Speaker 2: want to be looked at funny, because I didn't want
- 32:57Speaker 2: to be looked at funny, Right, you want to be
- 32:59Speaker 2: part of i'ld always just say, oh yeah, of course
- 33:01Speaker 2: The Godfather you know, and even the sequels, Great Godfather
- 33:05Speaker 2: three is trashed. I hadn't seen any of them, but
- 33:07Speaker 2: I know what to say. Hey, take the leave the guns,
- 33:10Speaker 2: take the canoles. I know the lines, you know. So
- 33:14Speaker 2: I do this big reveal that I had never seen
- 33:17Speaker 2: The Godfather. Now, by the way, I subsequently have because
- 33:21Speaker 2: I was getting torched on social media for never having
- 33:23Speaker 2: seen and people were calling me the fraud Father.
- 33:26Speaker 1: So I have seen it and it is a very
- 33:28Speaker 1: good movie.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yes, I think Casino and Goodfellas might be better mob movies,
- 33:32Speaker 2: maybe even Donnie Brosco.
- 33:35Speaker 1: But it's a very good movie. Right. That was my
- 33:37Speaker 1: big reveal.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Okay, so now we're going around the room and Solana,
- 33:42Speaker 2: we get to Salona and he's like he's pissed. He's like,
- 33:44Speaker 2: I can't believe you know what it is, Taylor, because
- 33:46Speaker 2: you're laughing.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Right.
- 33:47Speaker 4: I think this was the first show I listened to.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I was like, you know, not cursing, but I can't
- 33:53Speaker 2: fucking believe that you told us that we all have
- 33:55Speaker 2: to reveal something about ourselves that's going to shock people,
- 33:59Speaker 2: and yours is that you didn't watch a fucking movie.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And I'm like, what is your reveal, you know.
- 34:06Speaker 2: And his revelation was that he gave his brother an
- 34:09Speaker 2: enema that his brother, I don't know. His brother had
- 34:13Speaker 2: like a gi appointment and didn't want to reach around
- 34:19Speaker 2: and put the enema in his own ass. And Solana
- 34:22Speaker 2: was like in middle school or high school, like, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: he's not that old now, and so he does this.
- 34:27Speaker 2: He's like, I don't have anything else planned, so I'm
- 34:29Speaker 2: gonna have to go ahead with this, And that obviously
- 34:32Speaker 2: has become a talking point for three or four years
- 34:35Speaker 2: now on the show, is that Solana gave his brother
- 34:38Speaker 2: an enema, which seems a wildly uncomfortable thing to do
- 34:43Speaker 2: and participate in.
- 34:44Speaker 1: He was very angry.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I tell the truth day, but I do find it
- 34:47Speaker 2: funny when you pull the curtain back. I thought revealing
- 34:49Speaker 2: that I had never seen the Godfather while singing its
- 34:52Speaker 2: praises for years on the radio was a big reveal.
- 34:56Speaker 3: So he's revealing something that's truly horrible and horrific. And
- 34:59Speaker 3: I understand now why Seleariro is upset, because all you're
- 35:02Speaker 3: doing is saying, Hey, I'm a phony, I'm a fraud.
- 35:05Speaker 3: I know I've been telling your Godfather for fifteen years
- 35:07Speaker 3: down Years that top three movie of all time.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I've never actually seen it. I mean, I understand why
- 35:12Speaker 1: he's upset.
- 35:13Speaker 5: I think Crowders was he bites his toenails. And then
- 35:17Speaker 5: so the second salon was going to hawk point. You
- 35:21Speaker 5: could you could hear like you do. I have anything
- 35:24Speaker 5: else in the back of my mind that I can,
- 35:25Speaker 5: but like Channing.
- 35:26Speaker 3: If Channing what the hawk Path, it would have been
- 35:28Speaker 3: like listen, I really love Jeff Ireland.
- 35:35Speaker 1: So then.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I had another I used to do Mornings with Zaslow.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So when I had left your show, I was doing
- 35:43Speaker 2: Mornings with Zaslow and I got on this kick. Remember
- 35:47Speaker 2: there was I forget it was a TLC show. I
- 35:50Speaker 2: love TLC all these shows. It was just crazy shit,
- 35:53Speaker 2: my six hundred pound life, all that stuff.
- 35:56Speaker 1: That show.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a show. It was like Toddlers and
- 36:00Speaker 2: Tiara's or something. It was like the the you know,
- 36:04Speaker 2: the the pageant circuit. But there was a spin off
- 36:07Speaker 2: show from the Breakout Star.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Do you remember her name? It was Honey Booboo. Oh God.
- 36:12Speaker 2: She was like a chubber pageant you know, she was
- 36:16Speaker 2: like six seven years old and the mother. I can't
- 36:18Speaker 2: remember if the kid or the mother was Honey Booboo.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But anyway, I would talk all the time about Honey
- 36:23Speaker 2: boo boo. And then we actually got the mother on
- 36:26Speaker 2: the show with us, Me and Zaslow and there's a
- 36:29Speaker 2: uh A great. I don't have the audio anymore maybe
- 36:33Speaker 2: uh maybe uh anymore. So maybe somebody has it and
- 36:36Speaker 2: can send it in. But there on the air, because
- 36:39Speaker 2: we only had like thirteen minutes, this lady for a
- 36:41Speaker 2: minute was the hottest thing in media.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Honey Booboo. I can't remember was the mother the daughter? Hunt?
- 36:48Speaker 1: I think Honey Booboo was the daughter.
- 36:50Speaker 4: The daughter?
- 36:51Speaker 1: What was the mother's name? I'll check hold on Honey
- 36:56Speaker 1: Booboo's mom.
- 36:58Speaker 2: She was a lot of honey. Mama Cha Thompson, Mama June. Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 2: so we have Mama June on the show, Me and Zaslo.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Now this is after I have talked up Here comes
- 37:09Speaker 2: Honey Booboo for two months on the show about how
- 37:13Speaker 2: you should never miss this show, and Mama June comes
- 37:17Speaker 2: on and we're doing ten minutes with her, and then
- 37:20Speaker 2: I'm like, well, let's get a drop from you.
- 37:22Speaker 1: We didn't have time like she was on, you.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Know, doing a promotional tour so I'm like, we'll just
- 37:26Speaker 2: do this live on the air. Can you say, hey,
- 37:30Speaker 2: it's Mama June and me and Honey Booboo were always
- 37:33Speaker 2: listening to Hawkman and Zaslow and she goes, yeah, sure,
- 37:37Speaker 2: no problem, and she said, hey, it's Mama June. You're
- 37:41Speaker 2: listening to Harpo and Nazareth. That was the I'm not exaggerating,
- 37:47Speaker 2: that was the clip. And she's like, did I get
- 37:49Speaker 2: that right? And I'm like, perfect, you nailed it. And
- 37:52Speaker 2: we used to play this hard. We named our show
- 37:54Speaker 2: Harpo and Nazareth for a while because she had gotten
- 37:57Speaker 2: it so wrong.
- 37:58Speaker 1: But anyway, there was a guy Rihz mcgiz. You remember
- 38:02Speaker 1: him on tours, Yes, yeah, Chris mcgizz.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I mean New Times Yeah, yeah, yeah, Miami New Times
- 38:07Speaker 2: And he would write stuff all the time, and a
- 38:10Speaker 2: couple of years ago he had reached out to me
- 38:12Speaker 2: on Twitter about something. He's like, you know, it was
- 38:14Speaker 2: all about that Honey Boo Boo stuff or whatever, and
- 38:16Speaker 2: I remember dming him saying something along the lines of
- 38:19Speaker 2: truth be told, I've never seen the show right.
- 38:23Speaker 1: And he couldn't believe it, and he's like, stop it.
- 38:28Speaker 2: You talked about that show for two months straight, and
- 38:30Speaker 2: I go, yeah, it seemed like it would be a good.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Talking point, but I wouldn't watch that crap.
- 38:37Speaker 2: But it all reminds me you talk about radio being
- 38:39Speaker 2: the frauds and fraud father or whatever. It all reminds
- 38:41Speaker 2: me of. I think I may have mentioned this out
- 38:43Speaker 2: of pod. Going to our Christmas party seven ninety the
- 38:47Speaker 2: Ticket Christmas party at Cafe Bellisara, yeap in Parkland, and
- 38:54Speaker 2: you were the general manager also at the radio station
- 38:56Speaker 2: at that time. But Cafe Belisara, they did live spots
- 38:59Speaker 2: with Sid Row and they probably were a pretty decent advertiser.
- 39:02Speaker 3: No, yeah, they were pretty good advertiser. Congratulations to Sid Rosenberg.
- 39:06Speaker 3: He made it to the New York Radio Hall of Fame.
- 39:08Speaker 1: How about that? He got inducted though, So.
- 39:13Speaker 2: We go the Christmas party, the seven ninety the Ticket
- 39:16Speaker 2: Christmas party is at Cafe Bellisara, and Sid's live spots
- 39:21Speaker 2: were always like, it's better than moderano, It's the best
- 39:25Speaker 2: meatball you'll ever have. And so now we're sitting there
- 39:27Speaker 2: at this Christmas party and it's me, you, Dan and Sid. Yeah,
- 39:34Speaker 2: and Dan takes a couple of bites of this meatball
- 39:38Speaker 2: and he goes to Sid. He goes, what are you
- 39:40Speaker 2: talking about when you do these live spots about.
- 39:43Speaker 1: How this is better than Moderano? And Sid looks around
- 39:46Speaker 1: like like only Sid can, Like is no one listening?
- 39:48Speaker 1: He goes, My whole life is a lie.
- 39:55Speaker 6: I remember as clear as day, and it's such a
- 39:59Speaker 6: perfect that could be literally the tagline for any radio host.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Life is a lie.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I've always marveled, like, do people really think that Michael
- 40:09Speaker 3: Irving got Michael Irving?
- 40:11Speaker 1: That Stephen A.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Smith cares that much? When the Cowboys lose, you gotta
- 40:17Speaker 3: lean into your bits.
- 40:19Speaker 1: You gotta lean in. Yes, some are.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Bits, though some are real. My love for avocado toast
- 40:24Speaker 2: is real. Yes, I love for aperol sprits may be
- 40:28Speaker 2: a little exaggerated.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Yes, I'm telling you I was always planning my last show.
- 40:33Speaker 3: The last words of my mouth was going to be
- 40:35Speaker 3: a reveal that I was never a Jets fan.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Just good for the show, right, It's.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Better content to be a long suffering Jets fan.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yes, in Miami, it was better content to be a
- 40:54Speaker 3: long set Now I am a long suffering Jet fan,
- 40:56Speaker 3: But I just thought it would be funny to tell people,
- 40:59Speaker 3: you know what, this entire time.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Love the Giants. That's great. My whole life's a lie. Yes,
- 41:06Speaker 1: a great line.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Anyway, if there's something you want to hear on this podcast,
- 41:11Speaker 2: we're both well.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I'm back a little bit for the summer. I'm going again.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm going out of town again in August.
- 41:17Speaker 2: For several weeks you were talking about the lead singer
- 41:20Speaker 2: of Chicago that Chicago might get me out to uh
- 41:23Speaker 2: to Where were your Salt Lake? No, we were in
- 41:26Speaker 2: Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe. I'm going to Park City. I'm
- 41:30Speaker 2: going to Park City, Utah in August. And I just
- 41:34Speaker 2: bought tickets a couple of days ago for Rick Springfield
- 41:38Speaker 2: was in concert right where we're staying in Park City.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I mean Rick Springfield.
- 41:44Speaker 2: And I was told it was Totally's staying on my
- 41:47Speaker 2: floor in the place.
- 41:49Speaker 1: That I'm staying at. Wow. Wow, I mean Jesse's girl.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I mean, there is no better. That's crazy. Anyway. How
- 41:57Speaker 1: do you know he's staying on your floor?
- 41:59Speaker 2: I mean because the person who's giving me the apartment.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Is friendly with the person who runs the building.
- 42:08Speaker 2: And God, he was the one who gave me the
- 42:10Speaker 2: heads up that Hey, Springfield's going to be playing. There's
- 42:12Speaker 2: like a little amphitheater right next to the place, and
- 42:15Speaker 2: I don't know that's I get that that's my head's
- 42:17Speaker 2: up that Rick Springfield will be on the floor, and
- 42:19Speaker 2: I kind of feel like that's got to be a
- 42:21Speaker 2: hall pass for LORI, right, even though the guy's seventy eight.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I mean Trick Springfield. I mean I can't be past that, right,
- 42:29Speaker 2: if she hooks up with Brick Springfield.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I can't be angry at that, can I?
- 42:33Speaker 3: And she can't blame you if you hook up with
- 42:34Speaker 3: Brick Springfield, true, Right, that's how Ameriage with Brick who
- 42:46Speaker 3: is uh?
- 42:46Speaker 2: She always said that her one hall pass would be
- 42:49Speaker 2: John bon Jovi. Now I don't know if that holds
- 42:53Speaker 2: up today because he doesn't look as great as he
- 42:55Speaker 2: used to look.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Right, she went spring to him? Right?
- 42:58Speaker 2: I think mine used to be called Electra. I just
- 43:02Speaker 2: thought Carmen Electra was perfect. But I have, over the
- 43:05Speaker 2: last four weeks, set a record for number of times
- 43:10Speaker 2: one person can watch The Housemaid on HBO? Have you
- 43:14Speaker 2: have you seen this movie with Sydney Sweeney. I think
- 43:18Speaker 2: I have set a record, Like I think I could
- 43:21Speaker 2: be in the Guinness Book of World Record for number
- 43:24Speaker 2: of times one person has watched The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney.
- 43:31Speaker 1: What are you doing all you watch it?
- 43:35Speaker 2: Just wondering where all the years went, wondering where time,
- 43:43Speaker 2: wondering where time has gone?
- 43:47Speaker 6: Oh God, that's you're responsible for.
- 43:53Speaker 2: It's the most it's the most streamed movie in HBO
- 43:57Speaker 2: history stream at one House and then Little Loop sky Hawk. Anyway,
- 44:09Speaker 2: this summer we'll do more more podcast episodes because we're
- 44:12Speaker 2: both back. So if there's something you want to hear,
- 44:14Speaker 2: dm me on Instagram, Radio Mark Hakman on Instagram.
- 44:17Speaker 1: You could d m me. Uh.
- 44:19Speaker 2: If you would be a mench, go to Horsemuffins dot com.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Get yourself a little something.
- 44:24Speaker 2: You can support the Hawkman kid as he makes his
- 44:28Speaker 2: way in the world and get some cool merch.
- 44:30Speaker 1: I think he's created some really cool merch. That's horse
- 44:33Speaker 1: that you. Yes, and uh, I think that's about it right?
- 44:37Speaker 1: All right? Yeah? Doing nicknames? Or should we give that
- 44:41Speaker 1: a rest for the summer? You can?
- 44:43Speaker 3: Uh, why why give it a rest in the summer.
- 44:45Speaker 3: I mean, let's let's finish it off.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I mean, you radio creature of habit you.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I'm surprised you would even say let's finish the show
- 44:53Speaker 3: any other way.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Well, my creature of habit is to really abandon things
- 44:57Speaker 2: after a while. I do that, and for for twenty
- 45:00Speaker 2: five years of doing radio, it's like all of a sudden,
- 45:03Speaker 2: something just disappears because I've lost interest in it. Sure,
- 45:07Speaker 2: all right, Taylor, I'll leave it up to Taylor.
- 45:11Speaker 1: It's all right, Taylor. Nicknames, all right? Three nicknames?
- 45:16Speaker 2: Stu Gotts has to uh has to be able to
- 45:19Speaker 2: recite three athletes. He's better at nicknames than anyone in
- 45:27Speaker 2: sports media.
- 45:32Speaker 1: What are you doing there?
- 45:34Speaker 2: Because the first one that came up is Tommy Heinsen.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Remember him from the Celtics. Yes, he was great. He
- 45:39Speaker 2: also did uh he was an analyst for a while.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you have any idea what his name was? His
- 45:45Speaker 1: nickname was? What was it?
- 45:50Speaker 7: A ac.
- 45:52Speaker 2: What ack a ck a act?
- 46:00Speaker 1: Terrible? Terrible? Oscar Robertson big out, all right? Very good?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Or land to Algegary big out? Should we give you
- 46:12Speaker 1: to there? Hank Goldberg the Hammer.
- 46:17Speaker 2: I'm doing radio nicknames now, Jeff the four Default or
- 46:22Speaker 2: do you guys knock the guys knocking him out?
- 46:25Speaker 1: What was Mandage? Mandage? You have a nickname? Mad dog,
- 46:28Speaker 1: Mad Dog. That's right, Joe row big dog. It's crazy.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Guy's knocking him down. Who am I missing?
- 46:40Speaker 12: Steve Goldstein, gold Toby, Jonathan Grunfast, you got that right.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Brilliant, brilliant. Four people understood that joke, and that's we're
- 47:00Speaker 1: ending the pot. That was brilliant, Thank it with Stu
- 47:05Speaker 1: Gots and Hawkman
