- 1:51Speaker 1: All right. Well, as you heard, the gang is all here.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And we are ready to guide you through another Rick
- 1:59Speaker 1: Burgess show today. Yesterday's show was crazy. If you missed
- 2:05Speaker 1: all that, go out and catch it on the archives
- 2:08Speaker 1: from yesterday. We recapped the really bizarre ending to the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Are You Ready Tour. Of course, that Led to taking
- 2:20Speaker 1: up a lot of my day yesterday, trying to get
- 2:21Speaker 1: to the bottom of all that. That was a blast.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So we covered all that. All the reviews from the tour,
- 2:30Speaker 1: people are putting out on their own stuff and on
- 2:32Speaker 1: the fan club site and all that. Thank you. Dickie Nadmeyer,
- 2:38Speaker 1: big boy. I knew it would be. An emotional check-in
- 2:41Speaker 1: with him. That's on our Facebook page today. If you
- 2:45Speaker 1: go to rickburgesshow.com, if you missed it, and our YouTube channel. Um,
- 2:49Speaker 1: a lot of, um, a lot of Nadmeyer fans saying,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know what? He just spoke the truth. So, uh,
- 2:55Speaker 1: so anyway, uh, catch that if you missed it. Um,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and then when you get into the world of here,
- 3:01Speaker 1: we go to the next phase. So, uh, if you, uh,
- 3:04Speaker 1: are looking and you said, Hey, I think I want
- 3:08Speaker 1: to go to the store today and I never got,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I didn't get any tour merch or, Hey, I missed
- 3:15Speaker 1: out on that. I'd like to have some of that. Uh,
- 3:17Speaker 1: that's all been discounted, anything that was left. So you
- 3:21Speaker 1: see that on the store and then, uh, the Mr. Lucky, uh,
- 3:24Speaker 1: classic shirt, not the tour shirt. Uh, just, uh, Hey,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I I'm a fan of the band. Uh, that one
- 3:30Speaker 1: now moves into the store full time. Uh, and Adler
- 3:34Speaker 1: is wearing the new hoodie, the new hoodie that was
- 3:37Speaker 1: introduced on the tour, uh, that has moved into the
- 3:41Speaker 1: store full time, uh, along with the quarter zip that
- 3:44Speaker 1: Greg's wearing. Yeah, we're modeling new merch today. It's also
- 3:48Speaker 1: there in the store, some new items. Big Fox Outdoors,
- 3:52Speaker 1: a couple of new t-shirts for your hunting camp. They're
- 3:56Speaker 1: also there. And then going forward, we announced that there
- 4:03Speaker 1: will be a documentary of the tour that is underway.
- 4:06Speaker 1: We gave you an opportunity to get your email in
- 4:09Speaker 1: that you want to be told when it's available. Hundreds
- 4:13Speaker 1: of you responded to that. So if you, and you're
- 4:16Speaker 1: not committing to anything, you're just saying, as soon as
- 4:18Speaker 1: it's available, I want to know. Uh, so you use
- 4:20Speaker 1: that QR code there. You can also find that on
- 4:23Speaker 1: my Instagram yesterday. It's on the, uh, website at the
- 4:26Speaker 1: bottom of the page, rickburgesshow.com. And all that is, is
- 4:29Speaker 1: you saying when this thing's available, I want to know. Uh, so, uh,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that that's a, that's a first to know. So, uh,
- 4:36Speaker 1: all that, uh, is in the process of, uh, us
- 4:39Speaker 1: transitioning now to really what looks like the upcoming holiday season.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And we also will transition tomorrow here on the program
- 4:50Speaker 1: to something we also started doing six years ago on
- 4:55Speaker 1: the Rick and Bubba show and have carried it over
- 4:58Speaker 1: into the Rick Burgess show. And that is themanchurch.com, the
- 5:04Speaker 1: 2027 conferences. Tickets for those will go on sale tomorrow. So,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I mean, we got a lot going on. We got
- 5:10Speaker 1: a lot happening. It never ends here. Nope. It never ends.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Jump into the next one. Just the next thing. And
- 5:14Speaker 1: it looks like the Rick Burgess Show Christmas party this year,
- 5:16Speaker 1: December 18th. You didn't put that in there. I think
- 5:20Speaker 1: that's right. I think that's right. I looked at it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Let me pull up OICAL here. I think that's right. So,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I mean, and I don't want to talk Christmas yet.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Don't get me. I just want to make you aware
- 5:29Speaker 1: of that.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Oh, you're talking about not the staff party. You're talking
- 5:31Speaker 3: about just the last live show.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Of the year. Well, that's what we call the last
- 5:35Speaker 1: show of the year.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got that down. Yeah. So that's good.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And so I will tell you that after the checks
- 5:44Speaker 1: we wrote for the tour, I sat down with Big
- 5:48Speaker 1: Tom Rush, and he's not overly excited about the Christmas
- 5:50Speaker 1: cash countdown. I'll tell you that. Oh, boy. But I'll
- 5:53Speaker 1: try to see. I got to tell him, look, you
- 5:55Speaker 1: got to give us some money for that.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Maybe we can come up with things we find around
- 5:58Speaker 3: the house and give those away.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Sure.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Greg, what you got in the garage? Anything? Oh, I
- 6:02Speaker 1: got all kinds of stuff in the garage. You got
- 6:03Speaker 1: any of them baby pools left? So we'll see. No,
- 6:05Speaker 1: they got chewed up. Okay, you told them away. Tyler,
- 6:08Speaker 1: what you got, bud?
- 6:08Speaker 5: We could make stuff for the prizes.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oh, no, I'm not making anything.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Here's a bird feeder I made.
- 6:13Speaker 1: We're making things for each other. No, we're not. No,
- 6:16Speaker 1: we are. I'm not doing it. I'm not participating. Not
- 6:17Speaker 1: doing it. You ruined it. Last year you kept, oh,
- 6:20Speaker 1: here it comes. We got to get it done. We
- 6:21Speaker 1: got to do a Fox verdict.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I ain't doing it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Three out rules one. Why would you want to do it? Oh,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I'm not in. I'm out, too. I'm with him. Oh,
- 6:28Speaker 1: why don't y'all do anything fun? There was nothing fun.
- 6:31Speaker 1: That was not fun. Burgess Brothers. That was one thing.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It was out there. Oh, I got to do this.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I got to do this.
- 6:36Speaker 5: I got to care about my friends. Oh, darn.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well, y'all are grown. Y'all don't need it. I'll bring
- 6:41Speaker 1: you a case or something. It wasn't about the true gift, Greg.
- 6:43Speaker 3: If you think that, then it was about how funny
- 6:46Speaker 3: it was on the show that you were having to
- 6:47Speaker 3: make something.
- 6:48Speaker 6: I know.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And that was funny. And you made me a playhouse.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I did. I did. But again, say that. What is that?
- 6:55Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 6:56Speaker 1: He actually did something real. Speedy did too.
- 6:59Speaker 5: I have it right here. It's a picture of my family. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 5: make fun of the kids, Greg. We should give each
- 7:06Speaker 5: other something on.
- 7:07Speaker 1: The air at least. I'm not doing it.
- 7:09Speaker 5: You said you'd bring a cake? That's great. Bring me
- 7:12Speaker 5: a cake, Greg. Bring me a cake.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I may bite you something crazy. That's good.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Bake a cake.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Don't require me to make something.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Bake me a cake. As fast as you can.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Patty cake. How about this? I'm raising my hand. I
- 7:25Speaker 1: don't have any problem with swapping gifts. I just don't
- 7:27Speaker 1: want to make anything. I don't want to do none
- 7:30Speaker 1: of it.
- 7:30Speaker 2: No.
- 7:30Speaker 1: You talking about turnkey over there? Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 7: No, you don't want to do it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Let me just run through and grab y'all something. Get
- 7:38Speaker 1: something cute. And I'm okay with banning gift cards. Okay.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Is there a laser gift on the planet?
- 7:47Speaker 2: No.
- 7:47Speaker 7: And it isn't the cost.
- 7:48Speaker 1: It's the fact, what am I going to get them?
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I've done them.
- 7:53Speaker 3: We've talked about the fact that this goes back. When
- 7:56Speaker 3: did it start, Greg, that you hate giving gifts?
- 7:58Speaker 1: When I became an adult. Okay.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 8:02Speaker 3: This is why Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday because he
- 8:05Speaker 3: doesn't have to give anything.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm repeating. I'm going to repeat it again. That's why
- 8:08Speaker 1: he hates Valentine's Day. He hates giving Lily stuff. That's
- 8:11Speaker 1: not true. Not giving it, but having it.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Seems like it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: No, yeah, you've talked about it. The hard part, it
- 8:16Speaker 1: isn't the cost. That's not it. I know y'all think
- 8:18Speaker 1: it is. It's the, what am I going to get him?
- 8:21Speaker 1: What does he want? What do you think he loves?
- 8:23Speaker 5: Oh, you mean thinking about it?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Then I give him something stupid that he don't want.
- 8:25Speaker 5: You mean the thought that counts?
- 8:27Speaker 1: The thinking?
- 8:27Speaker 5: The thoughtful?
- 8:28Speaker 1: The thought is a good nice handshake and Merry Christmas.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Watch this. There's some great, great, great. Okay. This is the-
- 8:35Speaker 1: It ruins it all. I'm going to the bottom line.
- 8:37Speaker 1: That's about the whole thing. I'm going to the- Ruins it.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I'm going to the bottom line. One of the bottom line.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You got your Christmas shopping done yet? You got your
- 8:45Speaker 1: Christmas list done yet? You got it done yet? Greg
- 8:50Speaker 1: just wants to focus on the birth of the child. Yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 1: can we do that? I'm just saying.
- 8:54Speaker 5: I'm not sure if that's what he's focused on.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I have my little Calvin playhouse that you glued together.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I have it in there, Mom. See, and I went
- 8:59Speaker 1: the day before we were supposed to have it and
- 9:02Speaker 1: did it. Just like I used to do my projects
- 9:04Speaker 1: in school. I'm sure you glued it together with love.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I did.
- 9:09Speaker 5: See?
- 9:10Speaker 4: Day.
- 9:11Speaker 1: How thoughtful you were.
- 9:12Speaker 5: That was your heart growing, Greg.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yeah, come on. Somebody said, on the air, we play
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yankee Swap. Okay. All right.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Funny.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'll consider that.
- 9:20Speaker 5: That would be good.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Of course, it's October, so let's just not worry about
- 9:25Speaker 1: it right now.
- 9:26Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 9:34Speaker 1: All that's out there. See, we're moving. Here we go.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We got other stuff coming up. We'll tell you more
- 9:37Speaker 1: about that. Boy, Jalen Hurts. Wow. Jalen Hurts. That's scary, man.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts. Blood clots out for the season. Boy, that
- 9:48Speaker 1: just takes the– if you've got an Eagles season, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: I know there's all kinds of controversy on whether the
- 9:56Speaker 1: Eagles were a little careless with his uh prognosis and
- 10:01Speaker 1: diagnosis um putting him on the airplane uh with those
- 10:06Speaker 1: blood clots not not good uh and now they're saying
- 10:09Speaker 1: that um uh The blood clot, you know, at first
- 10:13Speaker 1: we heard it was in his calf. Now they think
- 10:15Speaker 1: they found blood clots in his lungs.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Of course, that sounds a lot like one of two things.
- 10:23Speaker 1: You know, we've seen this as a side effect from
- 10:26Speaker 1: actually having COVID, but also a side effect from the
- 10:30Speaker 1: COVID vaccine. So I'm not, you know. equipped enough to
- 10:36Speaker 1: know which one that would be but uh and it
- 10:38Speaker 1: may not be tied to either but you know this
- 10:40Speaker 1: is something you hear a lot of people having to
- 10:41Speaker 1: be treated for uh when we went through all that
- 10:44Speaker 1: mess uh with these tiny little blood clots you know
- 10:48Speaker 1: in your lungs um and all of that so um.
- 10:52Speaker 5: This is he did confirm that in july of 2021
- 10:55Speaker 5: he did receive the covet 19 vaccine yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Um So you bring up, Rick, so if you remember
- 11:02Speaker 3: back when the Eagles played in London, it was.
- 11:05Speaker 1: A few weeks ago. Yeah, absolutely.
- 11:07Speaker 3: A specialist in London is the one that found the
- 11:11Speaker 3: left calf blood clot. And after further testing and monitoring,
- 11:18Speaker 3: they realized that it could be more than just in
- 11:22Speaker 3: the calf. And so anyway, they say that he is
- 11:27Speaker 3: going to be on blood clotting. blood thinners. They feel
- 11:29Speaker 3: like they have a treatment in plan. Uh, and is it,
- 11:32Speaker 3: is it vein thrombosis, whatever?
- 11:34Speaker 5: Thrombosis.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Thrombosis. Okay.
- 11:36Speaker 3: That's, that's pretty much what was in his calf. And then, um, now,
- 11:40Speaker 3: but like you said, Rick, multiple blood clots in his
- 11:43Speaker 3: lung and it's about three month treatment process.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And so by the end, the season's over. Yeah. So they,
- 11:49Speaker 1: they say his prognosis is good. Very good. They say,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and we expect a full recovery, which is good. But
- 11:56Speaker 1: I saw yesterday, uh, A little bit of, hey, man,
- 11:59Speaker 1: y'all put him on an airplane from London with blood clots?
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean, that's after knowing he had them?
- 12:06Speaker 5: Yeah, and they were worried because a lot of times
- 12:09Speaker 5: those blood clots will travel from, like, your leg, and
- 12:12Speaker 5: then it gets stuck in your artery in your lungs.
- 12:15Speaker 5: That's what they were worried about, and then it happened.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and they also detach and kill you. Right. You know,
- 12:21Speaker 1: so we've seen that happen, sadly, you know, with people
- 12:25Speaker 1: who thought, you know, hey, I'm just having a routine operation.
- 12:28Speaker 1: knee surgery and things like that. So anyway, if you're
- 12:32Speaker 1: the Eagles, your whole season just got really weird. It did.
- 12:36Speaker 4: It did.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And they lost this past weekend without him. You know,
- 12:40Speaker 3: they say that the main thing is the contact in football.
- 12:43Speaker 3: He's still going to be around the team, still do
- 12:45Speaker 3: some light conditioning and stuff, but he can't have any
- 12:47Speaker 3: contact of any kind when he's on the blood thinners
- 12:50Speaker 3: and all that.
- 12:51Speaker 5: That's terrible. I'm a fan of his. I like how
- 12:56Speaker 5: he conducts himself. I like how he plays the game.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. Yeah, absolutely. The way he handled everything. Yeah,
- 13:02Speaker 1: in college, in Alabama. I mean, class guy. Yeah. So
- 13:07Speaker 1: then we move over to the college pro level. Auburn
- 13:11Speaker 1: dismisses star linebacker Xavier Atkins. You know, this is a
- 13:17Speaker 1: pretty big move. I saw Coach Golish for Auburn continue
- 13:22Speaker 1: to be asked about this, and he would just, if
- 13:24Speaker 1: he didn't have an answer, he would say, that's unresolved.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I don't have any update for you. I'll let you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: but it looks like now he has been suspended from
- 13:33Speaker 1: the team and had actually been suspended but now has
- 13:39Speaker 1: been removed. Correct? Because he was suspended actually before the
- 13:43Speaker 1: Georgia game. Now, I don't know what the final straw was,
- 13:48Speaker 1: but if my recollection is correct, which that's suspect, I
- 13:55Speaker 1: recall that when Auburn started to– get on a skid
- 13:59Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean, they were still competitive, but
- 14:01Speaker 1: they lost two in a row that he became a
- 14:04Speaker 1: little whiny about maybe he don't want to be there
- 14:08Speaker 1: anymore or he's going to transfer or whatever. And, you know,
- 14:12Speaker 1: when you're trying to get a program turned around, you
- 14:15Speaker 1: come in and try to do the, which as much
- 14:18Speaker 1: as you can in this environment, you know, it's my
- 14:20Speaker 1: way or the highway. But you don't say a lot
- 14:23Speaker 1: of anymore. No, you don't. Under this climate we're in now.
- 14:26Speaker 1: A little bit of a breath of fresh air. It
- 14:27Speaker 1: really is, to be honest, because, hey, if I'm a
- 14:29Speaker 1: player on the team, I go, hey, he just threw
- 14:31Speaker 1: the best defensive player we got off the team.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Right.
- 14:34Speaker 1: We might act right. Great player, but the coaches that
- 14:38Speaker 1: I have always had a lot of respect for, and
- 14:42Speaker 1: I don't know Golish very well, I have enjoyed and
- 14:45Speaker 1: been impressed by what I have got to experience from
- 14:47Speaker 1: the very few times, very little time I've got to
- 14:52Speaker 1: spend with him and watch him, is that they are
- 14:55Speaker 1: the kind of people that if you're, you don't want
- 14:58Speaker 1: to be here, I don't care how good you are.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You're out. I don't want anybody playing for me. Don't
- 15:03Speaker 1: want to be here. Uh, and I don't know if
- 15:06Speaker 1: that was even, maybe they got past that and it
- 15:09Speaker 1: was something else. Maybe he broke a team rule or something.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I don't know, but I just remember that. And that
- 15:15Speaker 1: started the, what you don't want to be here, you know,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and then it kind of escalated from there.
- 15:21Speaker 5: So, Did y'all mention that he did not play against Georgia?
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we did. Suspended then, but now because they were
- 15:28Speaker 1: asking in the press conference following the Georgia win, have
- 15:32Speaker 1: you made a decision on Atkins? And he was like,
- 15:35Speaker 1: I don't have an update on that. And so now
- 15:37Speaker 1: I guess we do. So now he has been removed
- 15:40Speaker 1: from the team, and he's a great player. But again,
- 15:44Speaker 1: when you're trying to move a program in a direction,
- 15:47Speaker 1: sometimes people, even if they're gifted, if they're kind of
- 15:51Speaker 1: a cancer, they got to go. and I don't pretend
- 15:54Speaker 1: to know. For the good of the team. Yeah, for
- 15:55Speaker 1: the good of the overall team. And sometimes, as you
- 15:57Speaker 1: pointed out, Greg, in modern day, a lot of coaches
- 16:00Speaker 1: aren't willing to stomach that to get to a further
- 16:04Speaker 1: down the road result.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 1: They're just living in the moment. Exactly. They're just like, well,
- 16:08Speaker 1: he's really good. I want him to play now. Yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm going to suspend him against a small school that
- 16:12Speaker 1: we're playing that we know it can beat.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so he suspended him against Georgia, still won, and
- 16:17Speaker 1: then kicked him off the team. Yeah, big statement. Bottom
- 16:21Speaker 1: of the hour. We'll be back. More of the Rick

- 18:26Speaker 1: uncomfortable moment. Checking here on the clock. So it is
- 18:35Speaker 1: beautiful weather right now where we live. And where we live,
- 18:40Speaker 1: the summers are so horrifying. You're just so grateful to
- 18:44Speaker 1: get weather like this. And then in your mind, you
- 18:46Speaker 1: know it's not going to last for very long.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:49Speaker 1: And you just want to enjoy it as much as
- 18:51Speaker 1: you can. I love this kind of weather where we
- 18:54Speaker 1: live right now. It's still a little warm in the
- 18:56Speaker 1: middle of the day for me, but the afternoons and
- 18:59Speaker 1: the mornings are just fabulous. Oh, yeah. So, you know,
- 19:03Speaker 1: we had kind of left the screened-in porch because it
- 19:06Speaker 1: just got too hot.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I mean, just too hot. September, you know, where we live,
- 19:10Speaker 1: is just August again, as we've said. So we haven't
- 19:14Speaker 1: been out there in a while. But Sherry and I,
- 19:16Speaker 1: when the weather is hot, tolerable we'd love to have
- 19:19Speaker 1: our dinner on the screened-in porch well we are now
- 19:24Speaker 1: as i told you earlier we are getting to now
- 19:27Speaker 1: the end of course you know it it's just it's
- 19:30Speaker 1: like you just it's just one monster after another if
- 19:34Speaker 1: you start a project everybody knows that yeah so we've
- 19:38Speaker 1: had um all the landscaping had to be updated and
- 19:42Speaker 1: stuff replaced and we have a water issue and Kind
- 19:46Speaker 1: of got to the bottom of that yesterday, and irrigation
- 19:49Speaker 1: has to be replaced. and it's just it's just a
- 19:53Speaker 1: nightmare and but you know what it's almost done it
- 19:57Speaker 1: looks beautiful trees cut down that had overgrown and stumps
- 20:02Speaker 1: grinded and jimmy jam and so um it's just you
- 20:07Speaker 1: know i just it's it's like Between the tour and
- 20:11Speaker 1: this landscaping project, I don't even know what it's like
- 20:13Speaker 1: to receive a check. I just know what it's like
- 20:15Speaker 1: to ride them. What is it like to get some money?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Because all I've been doing is just handing money out. Okay.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So anyway, so we're out there enjoying it. But keep
- 20:30Speaker 1: in mind, you know, people come and go at your
- 20:33Speaker 1: house during the project.
- 20:35Speaker 7: Okay.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Because they got to get their work done. Mm-hmm. And
- 20:39Speaker 1: sometimes you think they're done.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Who are you?
- 20:41Speaker 1: You think they're done. Maybe they're not. Okay. So we
- 20:46Speaker 1: had an adder. This is going to get you in
- 20:48Speaker 1: on from a cooking standpoint. We had some tuna, like
- 20:53Speaker 1: a tuna steak, and we had a couple of fillets
- 20:58Speaker 1: and we got the grill going. Um, I'm home from
- 21:02Speaker 1: work tours over beautiful day. Let's have dinner out on the,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the screened in porch, uh, grill talking, sitting out there.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Aren't you glad we did this Rick? Yes, baby. It's beautiful.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I know it was hard and it was expensive, but
- 21:19Speaker 1: it looks so beautiful. I'm glad we got all this resolved.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I'm glad they did that there. And now they got
- 21:23Speaker 1: the water moving there and saw the invoice on that. And, um, oh, wow.
- 21:28Speaker 1: There was another invoice. Oh, that was the plants. Okay. Uh, so, and,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and let it all go, Rick, just enjoy its beauty.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And I, and I was, I was there. I was
- 21:37Speaker 1: completely there. Maybe two there. So, um, see the pergola
- 21:40Speaker 1: now I'm looking there and everything just looks so beautiful.
- 21:43Speaker 1: What a beautiful late afternoon. Um, and I started kind
- 21:47Speaker 1: of checking out how beautiful my, my wife was out
- 21:51Speaker 1: there with a little son on her and, and a
- 21:54Speaker 1: beautiful fall day. And, uh, so I kind of out
- 22:00Speaker 1: there on Instagram, I'm screened in porch. I mean, they
- 22:03Speaker 1: can't nobody see us. You know what I mean? I'm
- 22:04Speaker 1: not talking about anything like that. What do we do?
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm just talking about talking kind of sweet and, You know, hey,
- 22:10Speaker 1: come on over here, you know. And I'm giving her
- 22:12Speaker 1: a little hug and kissing her a little bit and
- 22:14Speaker 1: talking real sweet to her. And all of a sudden
- 22:16Speaker 1: I hear, hey, Mr. Burgess, we got the. And I
- 22:18Speaker 1: look out there and there is somebody from the landscaping project.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Busted.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Standing there. And Sherry, like, lets go of me and
- 22:27Speaker 1: runs away like we're teenagers and our parents walked in.
- 22:30Speaker 1: And I'm like, baby, my gosh, I'm 62. You're 56.
- 22:33Speaker 1: We've been married 31 years. If we're out here smooching
- 22:36Speaker 1: a little bit on the porch, it don't matter if
- 22:37Speaker 1: everybody sees us. Our parents didn't catch us on the couch.
- 22:41Speaker 1: But you know me, that reaction, like, oh, my gosh.
- 22:43Speaker 1: It's like that, oh, you're here. You know it. Who
- 22:47Speaker 1: are you? Front row seat. I mean, front row. Then
- 22:49Speaker 1: he yelled, get a room. I mean, front row. It's
- 22:52Speaker 1: my house. It is a room. There are several. And
- 22:54Speaker 1: you know how the wives are. All they can think
- 22:58Speaker 1: about now is how long was he there. You know
- 23:01Speaker 1: what I mean? It was like, did he wait for
- 23:04Speaker 1: an opportunity to say something? Wait for a pause?
- 23:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Right. Was he– and I'm like, baby, it doesn't matter.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 23:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I mean, we're not doing something weird. I mean, we're
- 23:16Speaker 1: not out here, you know, naked or something. I mean,
- 23:18Speaker 1: it's just– and that's so embarrassing. So I can't face him.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You'll have to go after him. And I'm like, what
- 23:26Speaker 1: are you talking– well, who cares? So how long was
- 23:31Speaker 1: the guy there? I don't know. That's funny. Now, here's
- 23:35Speaker 1: the worst part. Was it five Mississippi? Listen, here's the
- 23:39Speaker 1: worst part. He parked in the front of the house.
- 23:43Speaker 1: The screened-in porch is on the back of the house.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And by the time I finally see him, he's coming
- 23:49Speaker 1: from the end of the yard back up. So he
- 23:50Speaker 1: went by us.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Down the yard to the end.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Look, look.
- 23:56Speaker 1: And then came, he comes back. So I said, Sherry,
- 23:59Speaker 1: and you know how you. You let me come up
- 24:01Speaker 1: for air, by the way. I said, I hate to
- 24:03Speaker 1: bring up the obvious. And she goes, what? I said.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Where he was, he was on his way back. And
- 24:08Speaker 1: she said, what do you mean? I said, he had
- 24:11Speaker 1: not just arrived. And she goes, oh, yeah, probably. I said,
- 24:13Speaker 1: so he parked down on the road and walked in
- 24:16Speaker 1: at the bottom of the yard? He didn't do that.
- 24:17Speaker 1: He parked in the driveway. Yeah. And she's like, wow,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he went by us down all the way. And I said, absolutely,
- 24:24Speaker 1: he did. Yeah. Just here to get a check. Okay.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And by the way, Mr. Bird, you're a pretty romantic fella. Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Wow. All right.
- 24:32Speaker 5: And he started walking away singing, sky rockets in flight.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah. F.
- 24:40Speaker 1: You know what? Now that we've cut all these strings down,
- 24:42Speaker 1: we can sing. Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight,
- 24:44Speaker 1: gonna grab some afternoon delight. So what a great meal.
- 24:50Speaker 1: But then I have to go out there and have
- 24:53Speaker 1: the conversation. And honestly, you know how guys are. He's
- 24:56Speaker 1: got a Tennessee hat on. I walk out, and I think, well,
- 24:59Speaker 1: there's the door. Big win for y'all this past weekend.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yep.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yep, sure was. I thought we played pretty physical. Yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: me too. Me too. And so we just do a
- 25:09Speaker 1: little bit of small talk, and then I ease up,
- 25:11Speaker 1: get the mailbox, and act like nothing was going on.
- 25:14Speaker 1: But I wasn't doing anything other than just being romantic
- 25:17Speaker 1: and a little smoochy. Still funny. And all that. But,
- 25:19Speaker 1: of course, the wives, they're mortified by that. Oh, yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 1: You can't believe it. I can't.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Now, were y'all feeding each other tuna steaks or how.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Did that go?
- 25:29Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I will say this. I will say this. I mean,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I had taken her hand and walked over and kind
- 25:35Speaker 1: of set her in my lap and was giving her
- 25:36Speaker 1: a little bit of sugar.
- 25:38Speaker 7: Okay, now, come on now.
- 25:39Speaker 1: We didn't even know that. What do we do? I'm
- 25:40Speaker 1: just talking about why we do that. We have our
- 25:42Speaker 1: clothes on. I know, but now I'm picturing y'all locked up.
- 25:44Speaker 1: What do you want me to do? Lean over the table?
- 25:47Speaker 2: I mean.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Now, you just don't have to be so descriptive. Right. So,
- 25:51Speaker 1: it was. Okay.
- 25:53Speaker 5: How'd you do the steaks? How'd you do the tuna
- 25:55Speaker 5: steaks specifically?
- 25:59Speaker 1: Just, you know, your standard, cook it to about medium. Okay.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And Sherry put some, the seasoning was crucial. We used
- 26:07Speaker 1: some olive oil. Sounds like it. Some olive oil that
- 26:10Speaker 1: we brought back from Italy. Ooh, yeah. And then we
- 26:14Speaker 1: used some, you ever used orange pepper? Really good.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Okay, okay. Some orange pepper.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Did you learn that in the cooking class? We did.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It was really good, too. Really, really good. And Sherry
- 26:24Speaker 1: normally does not like tuna like that. And I was like,
- 26:28Speaker 1: and she was like, well, you're right. This is good. Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 1: you just got to cook it right. Yeah, a lot
- 26:31Speaker 1: of them don't cook it.
- 26:32Speaker 4: People overcook it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: They dry it out. Or they undercook it, too. Yeah,
- 26:35Speaker 1: but you got to find that. Orange pepper.
- 26:38Speaker 5: I'm going to have to pick some of that up.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Well, look at you there standing there on our sidewalk
- 26:43Speaker 1: right here in our yard. Didn't see you coming.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And that was him.
- 26:47Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You do need to take note that now that you have,
- 26:51Speaker 3: you know, Cut trees down and bushes and remove things.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Yep.
- 26:56Speaker 1: You can really see now.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Yep.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Yep. Yep, yep, yep.
- 27:00Speaker 1: They did a good job. Looks beautiful. Looks beautiful. Got
- 27:04Speaker 1: a clear line of sight now. We'll be back. Bottom
- 27:08Speaker 1: of the hour. More of the show coming up right
- 27:10Speaker 1: after this.
- 27:13Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Speedy, speedy. HOA, baby. HOA. Home Owners Association. Yep. Can't
- 27:30Speaker 1: even have a trick or treat. You know, let me
- 27:33Speaker 1: ask you all a question.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Growing up, I know we've all been pretty outspoken, except
- 27:37Speaker 3: for Adler and his skeletons, but that Halloween probably our
- 27:42Speaker 3: least favorite of the holidays. You know, I've never really
- 27:45Speaker 3: gotten into it. I know with my kids, too. they
- 27:48Speaker 3: would claim they're not dressing up. And then suddenly around four,
- 27:51Speaker 3: they would get fired up and they would go find
- 27:53Speaker 3: some like.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Football, baseball uniform.
- 27:56Speaker 3: He was more about running around and getting candy and enjoying.
- 27:59Speaker 3: It was never about what my costume is, you know,
- 28:02Speaker 3: for us anyway. Now, for some of you, I know
- 28:05Speaker 3: you get into all that, but growing up, I never
- 28:08Speaker 3: really was into it, but it was, I remember when
- 28:10Speaker 3: I was, you know, real little, you know, grabbing a
- 28:14Speaker 3: little bag and, And running around and saying trick or
- 28:17Speaker 3: treat and then getting back home and seeing what you got.
- 28:19Speaker 1: It was always fun.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Sure.
- 28:21Speaker 3: And that's part of it. And do you remember, I
- 28:23Speaker 3: know I do, in my neighborhood, there was always a
- 28:26Speaker 3: house or two that they showed out and you got
- 28:29Speaker 3: better stuff there.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt.
- 28:31Speaker 3: And let's say there's some people that were just known
- 28:33Speaker 3: for their apples or their oranges or they were known
- 28:36Speaker 3: because they gave a certain thing away.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Those were big.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Well, now in today's world where everybody's got to be equal,
- 28:43Speaker 3: Now there's an HOA that has sent a letter out
- 28:47Speaker 3: encouraging the residents of that neighborhood to not give out
- 28:53Speaker 3: full-size candy, but to all give out fun-size candy in
- 28:58Speaker 3: an effort to keep the experience consistent throughout the neighborhood
- 29:03Speaker 3: and avoid situations where some homes feel pressure to match
- 29:07Speaker 3: larger offerings.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Oh, good. Now, see, this goes back to what Adam—
- 29:11Speaker 1: I'd be giving out king-size candy. Just in spite of it. Yeah.
- 29:15Speaker 1: This goes back to what Adler taught us, and he's right,
- 29:18Speaker 1: because I do want to clarify, certainly people are all equal.
- 29:21Speaker 1: We're all equal, equal value. What they're doing is they're
- 29:25Speaker 1: pushing equity, meaning everybody must be the same.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Yep.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Everybody is equal, but what they want is everybody to
- 29:33Speaker 1: be the same, meaning if this house can't have big
- 29:37Speaker 1: candy bars, then you can't either.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Which is ridiculous. Yeah. And you don't have to participate.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And if I'm giving out the small ones, I don't
- 29:47Speaker 1: care if you're giving out the big size.
- 29:49Speaker 3: No, I just give out what we give out, and
- 29:51Speaker 3: I don't know what any of my neighbors give out.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I've got the fun size out there.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever.
- 29:54Speaker 1: This is communism is what this is. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's exactly what it is.
- 29:57Speaker 3: And look, if you don't want to participate, I know
- 30:00Speaker 3: there's years that we keep our light off because we're
- 30:02Speaker 3: either busy or we aren't home or we've got something
- 30:05Speaker 3: else going on. If you want to keep the light
- 30:07Speaker 3: on and kids come up, Just give away what you got.
- 30:10Speaker 3: But to say that we all need to give away
- 30:12Speaker 3: the same everything is ridiculous.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Well, see, Gus, you could take this. Think about this.
- 30:18Speaker 1: And again, like we're talking about, we don't participate in it.
- 30:20Speaker 1: We haven't in years. But that's our thing. But it'd
- 30:23Speaker 1: be like the homeowners association saying either everybody participates or
- 30:27Speaker 1: nobody can. Yeah. No, we all should be able to
- 30:29Speaker 1: do whatever we feel led to do or we feel
- 30:32Speaker 1: like we want to do. And now they're going to
- 30:36Speaker 1: go as far as to say not only Does everybody
- 30:38Speaker 1: need to participate? Everybody needs to give out the exact
- 30:41Speaker 1: same kind of candy.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Correct.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Correct.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So people won't feel pressured to actually step it up.
- 30:45Speaker 3: It says, I hope this letter finds you well. This
- 30:48Speaker 3: is the HOA to their residence.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Now, keep in mind, this is not the role ever intended,
- 30:51Speaker 1: the role of a homeowner association. It was designed in
- 30:55Speaker 1: the beginning to protect property value. Yeah. Cars on blocks. Yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Stuff like that. And now they're into shocker. They're into
- 31:04Speaker 1: now telling people what kind of candy they should provide.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Whose mind even goes there to come up with that?
- 31:09Speaker 3: It's a short letter, but it says, hope this letter
- 31:11Speaker 3: finds you well. As we approach the holiday season, the
- 31:13Speaker 3: board has been discussing ways to create a consistent and
- 31:17Speaker 3: positive experience for the children in our community who go
- 31:20Speaker 3: to Trick or Treat. This year, the association is encouraging
- 31:23Speaker 3: all residents to hand out fun-sized candy bars only. We
- 31:27Speaker 3: are asking that full-sized candy bars not be distributed. This
- 31:32Speaker 3: request is intended to help keep the experience consistent throughout
- 31:35Speaker 3: the neighborhood and to avoid situations where some homes feel
- 31:39Speaker 3: pressure to match larger offerings. We appreciate your cooperation with
- 31:44Speaker 3: this request and thank you for helping make Halloween enjoyable
- 31:46Speaker 3: for the families in our community.
- 31:48Speaker 1: No, you're not making it enjoyable. No, you're making it unenjoyable.
- 31:51Speaker 1: You're stealing the trick-or-treat fun because back to what y'all said,
- 31:55Speaker 1: there was always houses. They act like the fun-sized people
- 31:59Speaker 1: are going to feel bad and feel pressured to not. No,
- 32:02Speaker 1: I'm giving out fun size. I don't care if the
- 32:05Speaker 1: guy next door, what he gives out. It doesn't bother me.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Good for him. And like you mentioned, Speedy, the joy
- 32:10Speaker 1: of the kids, you know, God rest his soul, back
- 32:13Speaker 1: in the Rick and Bubba years when Andy Spinozzi did
- 32:16Speaker 1: the bit about he takes his kids to the most
- 32:18Speaker 1: wealthy part of town. Because that's where the best candy is.
- 32:23Speaker 1: But there was a time even in your own neighborhood
- 32:25Speaker 1: where you knew Mr. So-and-so was going to have something
- 32:28Speaker 1: that the other people didn't. And it was fun to
- 32:31Speaker 1: try to get to his house or her house and
- 32:33Speaker 1: their house. But the other people didn't care.
- 32:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 1: And no one cared. Yeah. When did we become so–
- 32:39Speaker 1: I feel bad. He gave out the full size and
- 32:41Speaker 1: I gave out the fun size.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Well, so what?
- 32:43Speaker 1: Here's an HOA that is now– they've decided they know
- 32:47Speaker 1: what other people feel. They don't. Yeah, they're offended for them.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm not the first one to do this,
- 32:54Speaker 5: but if you run the numbers, those little fun size
- 32:57Speaker 5: packs aren't super cheap. They're really not that, they're not
- 33:01Speaker 5: 10 cents.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yes, but they appear.
- 33:03Speaker 5: They're around 25 cents. So if a kid grabs two
- 33:06Speaker 5: or three, you're getting pretty close to the price of
- 33:09Speaker 5: a full size bar anyway. This is just tyranny, frankly.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Yes, it is. Nobody hands out. Candy tyranny. And I
- 33:17Speaker 1: think that the fun size is misnamed. The big one
- 33:21Speaker 1: should be called fun size.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 1: The little one should be called. But you know what
- 33:25Speaker 1: I'm saying, though? The fun size, who just gives one
- 33:28Speaker 1: fun size? Right. You get a little handful.
- 33:29Speaker 5: You get two or three of them, there's your full-size
- 33:31Speaker 5: bar right there.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:33Speaker 1: It's the same.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Nobody gets one.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yeah. And back to this, how is this even in
- 33:37Speaker 1: the world of the HOA? I would say that things
- 33:41Speaker 1: must be all covered and everything's great with the HOA
- 33:44Speaker 1: if they're down to this. We had the meeting, and
- 33:47Speaker 1: we decided you must not give out full size candy
- 33:50Speaker 1: bars because the fun size people will feel obligated to
- 33:53Speaker 1: match you. Right. It's another thing that our childhood, you know, we,
- 33:56Speaker 1: we try so hard to give our kids what we
- 33:57Speaker 1: didn't have when we really need to just concentrate more
- 34:00Speaker 1: on giving them what we did have. I don't recall.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I never even heard the letters HOA.
- 34:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Everybody lived in neighborhoods that ran the same and everybody lived.
- 34:12Speaker 1: No one lived in an HOA. I didn't know. I
- 34:14Speaker 1: never even heard of that. And I hate that there's
- 34:17Speaker 1: a generation of kids that even know what that is. Yeah.
- 34:19Speaker 3: And not only this, but this holiday, you don't even
- 34:24Speaker 3: have to participate. If you don't want to, you don't
- 34:27Speaker 3: have to.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And like I say, it's not even really a holiday.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Nobody gets out of work. It's just some sort of
- 34:33Speaker 1: weird celebration. Right.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Yeah. Wow.
- 34:37Speaker 3: And this is not, by the way, this is not
- 34:39Speaker 3: my HOA. This is just in the news.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I just wanted to be clear on that.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Oh, I thought it was you this whole time. Yeah.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:45Speaker 5: I thought you wrote the letter because you didn't want
- 34:47Speaker 5: to buy the full size.
- 34:47Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 34:56Speaker 1: So I've already told you, I've already told you that

- 37:07Speaker 4: Come on.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Easy.
- 37:08Speaker 6: And?
- 37:08Speaker 1: It's good. Man.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Excellent.
- 37:12Speaker 1: So. Thank you, buddy. Yeah, thank you.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I know.
- 37:18Speaker 1: You kept that to yourself.
- 37:20Speaker 4: I did.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Well, but you got us all stoked about brisket. It's
- 37:24Speaker 1: kind of on you.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I know.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Well.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, every time we hear the word brisket,
- 37:27Speaker 1: we go in there and look. We do sit up,
- 37:29Speaker 1: don't we? We do.
- 37:30Speaker 5: I did a smaller one this time. It wasn't as
- 37:33Speaker 5: big as my torso. It was just like as big
- 37:34Speaker 5: as my thigh.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Are you still enjoying your brisket journey? I am.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I am.
- 37:41Speaker 5: This one, I actually, I might have told you all this.
- 37:43Speaker 5: I messed it up last time I tried to rush it.
- 37:45Speaker 1: You did?
- 37:47Speaker 5: The old smoker got too hot, and then I was
- 37:50Speaker 5: feeding my family the next day. I had to cut
- 37:52Speaker 5: almost the entire bottom off of the brisket. And I
- 37:56Speaker 5: was devastated.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 5: And I was feeding, like, my parents, my brother. My
- 38:02Speaker 5: brother's a great cook, so the pressure's always on. Luke
- 38:05Speaker 5: and I are always like, hey, buddy, what you doing?
- 38:06Speaker 7: What you doing?
- 38:07Speaker 5: I'm more simple. He's more fancy. He's a very good cook.
- 38:11Speaker 1: So he'll go fancy.
- 38:12Speaker 5: He does. Really?
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 5: I'd lie and I'd beat him with the simplicity of deliciousness,
- 38:17Speaker 5: you know? Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Is he, when you say fancy, is he one of
- 38:22Speaker 1: those that goes, I will... I will just follow a
- 38:27Speaker 1: recipe and I will pull off a really delicious meal.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Or I'm in here and I'm experimenting and I'm going
- 38:34Speaker 1: to come up with my own presentation and wow, what
- 38:37Speaker 1: a hit.
- 38:37Speaker 5: No, he does very good cooking. a lot of like
- 38:41Speaker 5: classic recipes, classic recipes.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I got you.
- 38:44Speaker 5: I remember I was, uh, you guys remember Stacy Lynn,
- 38:46Speaker 5: the chef and author.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 5: She's got seven kids.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, she has her book at home.
- 38:52Speaker 5: It's cooking videos. And then she's got shows and stuff. Uh, yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 5: I got filmed a couple of her shorts for, uh,
- 38:59Speaker 5: her social media, but we were at her place hunting.
- 39:02Speaker 5: We go, we generally go hunting. I missed it last year,
- 39:04Speaker 5: but we go, we usually go once a year. I'll
- 39:06Speaker 5: tell you, I'll even take the kids. And, um, My
- 39:10Speaker 5: brother had made, in the past, the venison pinwheel with
- 39:17Speaker 5: the cheese or whatever inside. You know what I'm talking about?
- 39:21Speaker 1: Summer sausage? Yeah, they make it with sausage. It's like
- 39:23Speaker 1: a pinwheel.
- 39:24Speaker 5: It's a pinwheel.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. Well, I thought my brother invented that, and
- 39:29Speaker 5: so I was like... like, but this is what my
- 39:31Speaker 5: brother does. And Stacy Lynn's like, yeah, that's a very
- 39:33Speaker 5: common venison recipe. And I was like, Gotcha. You're like,
- 39:37Speaker 5: thought he made it up.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Thought he was a chef. My brother is not the
- 39:42Speaker 1: meat eater that I thought he was.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Here we go. It's like almost like a stuffed kind
- 39:47Speaker 5: of thing.
- 39:48Speaker 1: There. There you go. Yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Maybe you ought to try to bring your talents to
- 39:52Speaker 3: the camp house this hot season.
- 39:54Speaker 1: What do you think about that? Do you travel with
- 39:57Speaker 1: a green egg? I mean, is that possible?
- 39:59Speaker 5: I've actually.
- 39:59Speaker 1: If you want me to, I'll bring mine over.
- 40:02Speaker 5: I've done pulled pork, started it in the green egg.
- 40:05Speaker 5: took it to my buddy's lake house where like 12
- 40:08Speaker 5: of my bros were at. Not my brother, you know, bros.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 5: And finished it in the oven there, and we had
- 40:15Speaker 5: it for lunch, and it was fantastic.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Well, apparently at Camp House, whatever we plan, Gary has
- 40:21Speaker 1: to be okay with it.
- 40:22Speaker 5: Gary has to.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Be in on it. Or he'll just pull the rug
- 40:25Speaker 1: out from under it. Like even the leather shoes. I'm
- 40:28Speaker 1: really starting to question whose farm it is. Well, so we're– Well, maybe.
- 40:36Speaker 3: I'm just saying maybe we have an evening where Adler
- 40:39Speaker 3: shows off a little bit.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Well, you know, I could do something. You know, pulled pork,
- 40:46Speaker 5: even some like smoke. I want to stay away from
- 40:48Speaker 5: anything Gary does so that I'm not getting in his world.
- 40:51Speaker 5: So I won't do turkey. I'll probably even stay away
- 40:54Speaker 5: from birds.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Turkey nuggets. Yeah, you know. Them were good. Those were delicious.
- 40:58Speaker 5: I did some smoked chicken thighs this weekend. And when
- 41:01Speaker 5: you do those right, those are very fantastic. Greg, I
- 41:04Speaker 5: fed you turkey. I fed you chicken thighs, Greg. And
- 41:07Speaker 5: you liked them. It was all chicken thighs. It was
- 41:10Speaker 5: a trick.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Sherry's got a chicken thigh restaurant. Oh, everybody
- 41:13Speaker 1: falls all over themselves. Chicken thigh recipe that's real good.
- 41:16Speaker 1: But I just, something about that old dark, you know.
- 41:19Speaker 1: The way it's all about.
- 41:20Speaker 5: You can't tell the difference. I gave you nothing but
- 41:22Speaker 5: chicken thighs. It was a trick. I tricked you, Greg.
- 41:25Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 41:25Speaker 5: Greg's Chicken Challenge. It was called Greg's Chicken Challenge. Yes,
- 41:29Speaker 5: it was.
- 41:29Speaker 1: That was a long time ago. I was playing along.
- 41:31Speaker 1: A year ago. I was playing along for the show.
- 41:33Speaker 5: No, you actually did great.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I did like them. I've heard they're great. I just
- 41:36Speaker 1: get tired of everybody trying to tell me that.
- 41:38Speaker 5: Okay.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I get that.
- 41:39Speaker 5: I get that.
- 41:40Speaker 1: One of the things in our state, you get fired up,
- 41:41Speaker 1: and I was going to bring it up, and I
- 41:42Speaker 1: was like, hey, maybe we should all get fired up
- 41:45Speaker 1: about opening weekend and try to do something. But really,
- 41:48Speaker 1: gun season. But the problem with the opening weekend of
- 41:51Speaker 1: gun season is you don't get the Friday hunt. You
- 41:54Speaker 1: have to start on Saturday and then that just, you know,
- 41:58Speaker 1: it's not, you, you, you don't have a hunt on Friday.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Then two on Saturday, you just come in on Friday.
- 42:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I mean, you hunt on Saturday.
- 42:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's not awful, but I mean, you, you, you,
- 42:09Speaker 1: you know, it's almost like if I'm put that kind
- 42:11Speaker 1: of commitment in, let's go and we can hunt on
- 42:12Speaker 1: Friday too. Yeah. Good point. So, because let's face it,
- 42:16Speaker 1: we don't get to do that a lot.
- 42:18Speaker 4: It's hard.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:19Speaker 4: We don't.
- 42:20Speaker 5: And I don't want to do burgers because then it's like,
- 42:22Speaker 5: you know, I don't want to compete with anybody else's
- 42:24Speaker 5: burgers because people do burgers the way that they like burgers.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Correct.
- 42:29Speaker 5: So let me think about that.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Maybe pulled pork, maybe brisket, something. We'll figure it out.
- 42:33Speaker 3: So River spent some time over at the house over
- 42:36Speaker 3: his fall break and Saturday morning when it was cold
- 42:40Speaker 3: because I've told him he wants to know when hunting
- 42:42Speaker 3: season is because he wants to go sit with pops.
- 42:44Speaker 1: And all that.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Sure.
- 42:45Speaker 3: And, um, and I tell him, you know, it's, it's
- 42:48Speaker 3: not now. And then when I count the days, he's like.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Oh, really? You know, he doesn't, it seems so far away.
- 42:52Speaker 3: But when it was cold Saturday morning, he went, it's cold.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Cause I've been telling him when it gets cooler, that's
- 42:59Speaker 3: when hunting season is. He said, is, is hunting season today?
- 43:02Speaker 3: I was like, no, unfortunately not. You know, if I
- 43:06Speaker 3: bow hunted maybe, but, um, Yeah, he's all fired up,
- 43:10Speaker 3: but he threw.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Them off when it was cold. He said, today? You've
- 43:14Speaker 1: been telling him the whole time. You've got to wait
- 43:15Speaker 1: until it gets cold. It's thrilling me. I love this weather.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I love it so much. I walk out of the
- 43:20Speaker 1: house in the morning, get in my truck, and nip.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And nip. How many of you forgot that it's baseball
- 43:26Speaker 1: season still? I did. My hand is up. Especially because
- 43:28Speaker 1: it involves the Rays and the Brewers. Yeah, I mean.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I forgot the Rays are even a team. That's nice.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So now your Super Bowl will be the Rays, who
- 43:37Speaker 1: went in last night, And the Brewers. You said Super Bowl, Rick.
- 43:43Speaker 5: You said Super Bowl, yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And that right there is really hard to imagine. I
- 43:49Speaker 1: bet you we'll hear TV viewing way down. Yeah, I
- 43:53Speaker 1: think their fan bases will be really excited, especially the Brewers.
- 43:56Speaker 1: They have a fun fan base. But as far as
- 43:59Speaker 1: national appeal, that's not the two franchises that you would
- 44:03Speaker 1: be fired up about.
- 44:04Speaker 5: Yeah, MLB wanted the Yankees-Dodgers real bad. Sure they did.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Sure they did. They did.
- 44:10Speaker 3: First time in a while we hadn't had the Dodgers
- 44:11Speaker 3: in it. We can celebrate that.
- 44:12Speaker 1: That's true. Unless you're a Dodgers fan. Now the World
- 44:15Speaker 1: Series goes into November, but that's fine. Mr. November. That's
- 44:19Speaker 1: worth it.
- 44:20Speaker 3: It is two exciting fan bases and stuff. The atmosphere
- 44:23Speaker 3: is great. So it ought to be a good World Series.
- 44:26Speaker 1: It really should. The Brewers, I mean, good night. They
- 44:28Speaker 1: swept the Dodgers, y'all. Which means they've used it all up.
- 44:32Speaker 1: They've had a little bit of time off. I know,
- 44:34Speaker 1: sitting around. Sometimes when you're hot, you don't want to
- 44:36Speaker 1: sit around. No, you don't.
- 44:37Speaker 7: When you're hot.
- 44:39Speaker 5: You want to hear the fans find out they're World
- 44:44Speaker 5: Series champs here. There's a view from the stands here.
- 44:48Speaker 1: What is this? The Rays. Rays fans.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Last night.
- 44:53Speaker 1: From the stands. Sound like it's going to be a
- 44:57Speaker 1: good game.
- 44:57Speaker 5: A little easy, a little pop fly. And catcher.
- 45:01Speaker 1: And we're going. And there they are. The Rays go.
- 45:08Speaker 1: To the World Series to play the Brewers. Interesting. Raising Brewers.
- 45:16Speaker 5: My uncle-in-law, is that a thing?
- 45:19Speaker 1: I think, kind of.
- 45:20Speaker 5: He's a big Brewers fan.
- 45:22Speaker 6: Really?
- 45:22Speaker 5: He lived in Milwaukee for a while. We went and
- 45:24Speaker 5: visited him.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Okay. When we come back, unscreened phone calls are next. 888-6-BIG-VOX.
- 45:31Speaker 1: We chat with you.
- 45:34Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 45:41Speaker 1: To the people we go, Rick Burgess Show, unscreened phone calls.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Go ahead. Good morning. How y'all doing? We're good. I
- 45:48Speaker 1: hope you're well. I was going to let you down
- 45:51Speaker 1: with y'all show that night, and I liked it a lot,
- 45:55Speaker 1: and I even flashed Greg my boobies. Thank you, sir. Yes, sir.
- 46:00Speaker 1: That was impressive. It was. Thank you, sir. Uh, we
- 46:05Speaker 1: continue Rick Burgess show on screen phone calls. Go ahead.
- 46:09Speaker 6: Hey, Greg, uh, would you rather watch a Taylor Swift
- 46:13Speaker 6: concert or watch the Revenant twice?
- 46:16Speaker 1: Oh, that's good. Y'all going to be surprised. I'm going
- 46:19Speaker 1: with Taylor Swift just to see the production and all that. Okay.
- 46:23Speaker 1: And the Revenant put me asleep. So why do I
- 46:25Speaker 1: want to do that? Right. So you, you didn't make
- 46:28Speaker 1: it through once. You can, you can't make it through
- 46:30Speaker 1: twice in the theater. Speedy was there. Oh, yeah. Went
- 46:33Speaker 1: to sleep. He took something, tickled my nose when it
- 46:35Speaker 1: woke me up. But wasn't that a little bit, you know.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Fallen around too long. Also went after the show, too.
- 46:40Speaker 1: It was good up to the bear attacked him. Yeah. Hey,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I get it. He's eat up and he can, he's crawling.
- 46:46Speaker 1: I got it. Right. He's moving on to the part
- 46:48Speaker 1: where he's not crawling.
- 46:49Speaker 3: And he can't breathe.
- 46:52Speaker 1: He's so cold. Weird Indian vision. Yeah. And don't forget
- 46:55Speaker 1: the weird Indian. Right. He's so terribly cold. The scene
- 46:59Speaker 1: at the beginning when they come in and the Indians attack. Oh,
- 47:01Speaker 1: that's cool.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 47:03Speaker 5: Long take, one shot. A lot of frost boogers. Yeah,
- 47:08Speaker 5: a lot of frost boogers.
- 47:09Speaker 1: A lot of them. A lot of them. To the people,
- 47:12Speaker 1: Rick Burgess show, unscreened phone calls. Go ahead. Hey, this
- 47:16Speaker 1: is Cole from Downey Mobile. Hey, buddy. How y'all doing?
- 47:21Speaker 6: Good.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Hey, I wanted to add mostly for Adler. I know
- 47:25Speaker 4: he does the big skeleton thing in his yard.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Yes, I don't do the beans.
- 47:28Speaker 4: But I'm telling you, y'all got to check out the
- 47:30Speaker 4: Snickers Halloween commercial. It is pretty daggone funny. I think
- 47:35Speaker 4: you'll get a kick out of it.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Snickers Halloween commercial.
- 47:38Speaker 4: Snickers.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Note to self. Rick Burgess show on screen. Phone calls. Go.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Get that off the screen if possible. Hey, man. It's Julio.
- 47:46Speaker 4: What happened to Julio?
- 47:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh, Leo. Oh, Leo. Rick Burgess show
- 47:54Speaker 1: on screen phone calls. Go ahead. Hey, Rick.
- 47:58Speaker 4: I've heard you say you can take one wolf. I
- 48:04Speaker 4: just want how much to get to a cage match
- 48:06Speaker 4: for two. Oh, no.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Two wolves. I don't like the feel of that. I mean,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I can't get anything to fight one wolf. I mean,
- 48:16Speaker 1: that's a pretty good cage match. I can't believe you're
- 48:17Speaker 1: okay with a fill of one. Just me fighting one.
- 48:20Speaker 1: You want two? I think maybe I should be grateful
- 48:24Speaker 1: that you see me in that light. Yeah, man, you're
- 48:26Speaker 1: pretty much a bad A. You talking about one?
- 48:29Speaker 5: Like it wasn't nothing.
- 48:31Speaker 1: That's true. Not like it wasn't nothing. What about this?
- 48:36Speaker 1: Cage match, Wolf and you against me. What do you
- 48:41Speaker 1: think about that one?
- 48:42Speaker 4: Well, I'm a big in that.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Are you big and like country strong or big and
- 48:47Speaker 1: like fat?
- 48:50Speaker 5: Fat.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Okay. I'm going to run around a little bit and
- 48:54Speaker 1: try to get you winded. Don't get you tired. Just
- 48:56Speaker 1: get you tired. Once I get him sweating. Define what
- 49:01Speaker 1: you mean by big. Rick, I'm not even fast enough.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I'm fat. He didn't even pull any punches. No, no,
- 49:08Speaker 1: I'd be fat. Yeah. I'd be fat. We continue. Rick
- 49:12Speaker 1: Burgess show. Unscreen phone calls. Go ahead. Hey, there's a
- 49:18Speaker 1: really cool thing that people have been talking about. about,
- 49:21Speaker 1: and they say that birds aren't real. They're just spies
- 49:24Speaker 1: to the government. We've heard that. You're right. It's out there.
- 49:29Speaker 1: We did a whole story on it. Birds are real.
- 49:32Speaker 1: It's a little weird. It's a little weird. We know birds.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I know them. I see them up close.
- 49:37Speaker 5: Have one run into your window.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Cut it open. It's Birds are real.
- 49:40Speaker 5: There's meat inside.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Birds are real. Y'all would not believe the red birds
- 49:44Speaker 1: in my house. It's unbelievable. There'll be 30 of them
- 49:48Speaker 1: out there. Birds are real. Speaking of that, I want
- 49:51Speaker 1: to remind you, we saw squirrels yesterday going absolutely nuts.
- 49:55Speaker 1: All right. I mean, they were going absolute bonkers. Sometimes
- 50:00Speaker 1: they'll do that. They were excited about the weather. You
- 50:01Speaker 1: already got a nip in there. It was weird. Rick
- 50:03Speaker 1: Burgess show, on-screen phone calls. Go ahead.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Hey, what do y'all think about Auburn taking it all
- 50:09Speaker 2: the way to the 90s this year?
- 50:10Speaker 1: No, probably not. Not going to happen. Improvement, sure. Natty, no.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Rick Burgess show, unscreened phone calls. Go ahead.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Guys, it's the little things with this show that really
- 50:22Speaker 4: make my day.
- 50:23Speaker 1: And the call just a minute ago, who wanted you
- 50:26Speaker 1: in the cage.
- 50:27Speaker 4: With two wolves, and you said... Define big.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Are you big as in country strong or fat?
- 50:34Speaker 4: And then his answer. I'm fat.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I love it. He's funny. Rick Burgess show. Unscreen phone calls.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 50:47Speaker 4: Hey, this is Julio.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Okay. Hulu, you're going to have to bring more to
- 50:55Speaker 1: the table. Rick, somebody on text message said you and
- 50:58Speaker 1: Sherry had the squirrels.
- 51:02Speaker 3: By the way, while I've got you guys, in the
- 51:05Speaker 3: last 24 hours, Larry has texted me eight times. To
- 51:09Speaker 3: let us know that he got the patches and the
- 51:12Speaker 3: coins from the cruise and everything that we sent him.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Guys. And he is over the mountain happy. This is Larry.
- 51:18Speaker 1: The past couple of weeks, he has had a windfall.
- 51:21Speaker 5: Greg.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Greg.
- 51:21Speaker 1: He is so excited about it.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Greg.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Greg. Greg.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Greg.
- 51:26Speaker 1: No matter what. Guess what we got in the mail yesterday.
- 51:29Speaker 1: We got the patches and the challenge coins. He is
- 51:32Speaker 1: so excited. Golly, you've got him. How about it? I mean.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Here we go. Here we come to her, whatever it is.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Right, right, right.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever. You mean the Are You Ready Tour? Yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 1: that one. The commercial we just read a minute ago. Yeah,
- 51:48Speaker 1: that was really good. That's on me. I love how
- 51:51Speaker 1: you raised your hand.
- 51:51Speaker 7: Yeah, that's mine.
- 51:53Speaker 1: I just want people to relive it. Yeah, there was
- 51:55Speaker 1: a little nostalgia there. But when Larry and Carolyn would
- 51:58Speaker 1: come on the screen at the beginning, the crowd loved it. Oh, yeah,
- 52:02Speaker 1: they just got so excited.
- 52:03Speaker 7: Yeah, they did.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Rick Burgess Show, unscreened phone calls. Go ahead. Who do
- 52:09Speaker 1: you think would.
- 52:09Speaker 6: Win a fight?
- 52:10Speaker 1: Sherry, Rick's wife, or Speedy? I'm not sure about that.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I got you. I'm going with Sherry on that one.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Speedy's too nice. I'd give up. Let her hit me.
- 52:24Speaker 1: I understand. Who asked that kind of question? Rick Burgess Show,
- 52:29Speaker 1: on-screen phone calls. Go ahead. This is Julio. Julio, I...
- 52:36Speaker 1: I know you're entertaining yourself. We're kind of hoping you'd
- 52:39Speaker 1: entertain others. All right, we'll be back. We'll be back.
- 52:49Speaker 1: We got more to cover on the program today. We
- 52:53Speaker 1: got Vox seats coming up next hour. And we'll check
- 52:58Speaker 1: in with you as well later. You can text anytime
- 53:01Speaker 1: during the show.
- 53:03Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Love, love, love checking out the emails. Thanks to all
- 53:14Speaker 1: the emails you guys have been sending about your experience
- 53:18Speaker 1: on the tour and all that really moved us so much.
- 53:20Speaker 1: And we read some of those on the show, but
- 53:22Speaker 1: this was a little bit different. Hey, Burge. Hey, Burge. Hey, Burge.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I'm a dedicated podcast listener. So I acknowledge I'm about
- 53:32Speaker 1: a week behind. So I hope you are not annoyed
- 53:35Speaker 1: if you've already talked about this. We had not. I
- 53:39Speaker 1: didn't know this. Are you ready? What's that? Yeah, I'm ready.
- 53:43Speaker 1: There's a new, and that's the only reason I'm reading this.
- 53:47Speaker 1: There's a new documentary on Prime Video called Capturing Bigfoot. Anybody?
- 53:55Speaker 1: I hadn't seen it. Again, I've been burnt by them
- 53:58Speaker 1: too many times. It's causing a stir inside the Bigfoot community. Oh, no.
- 54:05Speaker 1: This is something we've talked about back in the Rick
- 54:07Speaker 1: and Bubba years, and we've talked about here on this show.
- 54:10Speaker 1: It's always talked about every time Bigfoot comes up, and
- 54:13Speaker 1: that is the Patterson film. If it's not fake, there
- 54:19Speaker 1: is a Bigfoot. Basically, a roll of film from 1966,
- 54:24Speaker 1: confirmed date by Kodak, was unearthed showing Roger Patterson shooting
- 54:31Speaker 1: a test run. of the infamous Patterson film. Oh. Roger
- 54:37Speaker 1: Patterson's wife was also interviewed for the film where she
- 54:40Speaker 1: admitted it was a hoax all along. Straight up. It's
- 54:45Speaker 1: still unsure if Bob Gimlin... That's a great suit. If
- 54:48Speaker 1: Bob Gimlin, who helped with the film, was in on
- 54:51Speaker 1: the hoax, he's still alive and has been adamant for
- 54:53Speaker 1: decades he wasn't part of a hoax. Everyone knows him,
- 54:57Speaker 1: says he's a guy that's stand-up and... He wouldn't even
- 55:02Speaker 1: talk about the film for decades, and he never profited
- 55:05Speaker 1: from it. So apparently it was the Patterson-Gimlin film. It was.
- 55:11Speaker 1: And it says, Gimlin, if it was a hoax, he
- 55:13Speaker 1: has always said, I didn't know it. But they're saying
- 55:16Speaker 1: this new documentary says the Pattersons did know it. And
- 55:22Speaker 1: this guy is saying, for all of you Bigfooters out there,
- 55:25Speaker 1: ours you probably are better known, Bigfeets, sad day. In
- 55:30Speaker 1: the Bigfoot community, believers are still clinging to hope that
- 55:35Speaker 1: Bigfoot is real, and the footage doesn't actually prove anything.
- 55:40Speaker 1: I've always been a skeptic, but my only hope was
- 55:45Speaker 1: the Patterson Gremlin film. And now that I've seen this,
- 55:49Speaker 1: I realize that likely I now have to go into
- 55:52Speaker 1: the world of not even considering this as a possibility.
- 55:55Speaker 1: So it's his wife that's come out. The film crew
- 55:58Speaker 1: also did a new 4K. And they had actually footage
- 56:02Speaker 1: of him rehearsing it. Correct. That's what this guy said.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I haven't seen the documentary. Well, look, we've never said
- 56:07Speaker 1: whether we believed it or not. All we ever said
- 56:09Speaker 1: was if it's real, then there's a Bigfoot. Adler also
- 56:12Speaker 1: says that the film crew has done a new 4K
- 56:16Speaker 1: scan of the original film, and he attached the link below.
- 56:22Speaker 1: So he's saying that this new documentary on Prime– Says
- 56:29Speaker 1: that they're suggesting the Patterson film was a hoax, and
- 56:32Speaker 1: they have proof of that. I haven't seen it. I
- 56:35Speaker 1: don't know. Again, it goes back, and we're going to
- 56:38Speaker 1: rehash all this. In today's world, with the cameras that
- 56:42Speaker 1: are out there, surely we would have a big film. Oh, yeah.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I don't know. We've had anyone, everybody says, oh, look,
- 56:49Speaker 1: it's from way far off. They look like a herd
- 56:51Speaker 1: of them or something. I'm talking about just like the
- 56:54Speaker 1: Patterson film, something like that. By now, with all the
- 56:57Speaker 1: cameras that are in the woods, somebody would have seen it.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Unless he's skipping time. This email, Ian, he's like you, Greg.
- 57:05Speaker 1: He said, now let me tell you, I was in
- 57:06Speaker 1: the camp that this is the only thing that I
- 57:08Speaker 1: even paid attention to. Yeah. Was this film.
- 57:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Everything else. We always said if it's real, but we
- 57:13Speaker 1: didn't know if it was real or not. But if
- 57:15Speaker 1: it's real. Yeah. So Adler, I just sent you that email.
- 57:19Speaker 1: You can kind of look into it and see if
- 57:20Speaker 1: you think there's anything worth showing either later or in
- 57:23Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 57:24Speaker 5: I just showed the.
- 57:26Speaker 1: The 4K. Oh, you did? Okay, that's what I just
- 57:27Speaker 1: sent you, so you already had it. Yeah, he was
- 57:29Speaker 1: showing that.
- 57:29Speaker 3: How about Text Nation saying there's Bigfoot YouTubers that have
- 57:34Speaker 3: seen this documentary and posted videos saying their entire life
- 57:37Speaker 3: is a lie.
- 57:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 57:38Speaker 1: They believed it all along. Right. Oh, no. I didn't
- 57:42Speaker 1: know there was a new documentary out. The only thing
- 57:45Speaker 1: we ever said was if it is proven to be real,
- 57:47Speaker 1: then there is a Bigfoot. Right. That's the only shot
- 57:50Speaker 1: I've ever seen that you could go, well, there it is.
- 57:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:54Speaker 1: But I got to give them credit. What a suit.
- 57:56Speaker 1: And so in the 60s, that kind of suit?
- 57:59Speaker 3: If I remember, so the wife is the one that's
- 58:01Speaker 3: coming out saying, hey, it was fake.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Did she honor? The husband, he passed, right? Yeah, he did.
- 58:07Speaker 1: And everybody was like.
- 58:08Speaker 3: Oh, he didn't confess before he died.
- 58:11Speaker 1: I thought one of them did at one time try to.
- 58:15Speaker 1: So Gimlin or whatever his name is is still alive? Yeah,
- 58:18Speaker 1: he's still alive. Seems like one of them. Maybe I'm wrong.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I think that was Loch Ness. You remember the famous
- 58:24Speaker 1: Loch Ness picture? They keep showing the guy. I said, hey,
- 58:27Speaker 1: we did that. And remember, there was a rumor the
- 58:30Speaker 1: guy who actually wore the suit of Bigfoot, that he
- 58:34Speaker 1: was on his deathbed. Then somebody came back and said, no,
- 58:37Speaker 1: that's not true. But this is saying, Speedy, just so
- 58:40Speaker 1: you know, this is from the emailer. He says in
- 58:43Speaker 1: the documentary, which is new on Prime, they find a
- 58:47Speaker 1: roll of film from 1966. Kodak confirmed the date, showing
- 58:52Speaker 1: Roger Patterson wearing shooting a test run of the film.
- 58:56Speaker 1: And then it says also his wife was interviewed. That's
- 58:59Speaker 1: pretty incriminating. That his wife was interviewed for the film
- 59:01Speaker 1: where she admitted.
- 59:02Speaker 7: It was a hoax.
- 59:03Speaker 4: Wow.
- 59:05Speaker 1: You got to give him a credit. I mean, that's
- 59:07Speaker 1: not that surprising to me. No, no.
- 59:09Speaker 4: I mean.
- 59:10Speaker 1: because we look at everything else, like I said, I mean,
- 59:12Speaker 1: surely by now we'd have it on camera. Well, the
- 59:14Speaker 1: problem big feats have got, a lot of people don't
- 59:18Speaker 1: know that's a plural, is that you keep telling us
- 59:24Speaker 1: that this is a gargantuan creature.
- 59:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:26Speaker 1: That it's so it's large, but I've heard some nine footers,
- 59:30Speaker 1: seven foot.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Yep.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Yep. And the fact that as Greg pointed out, we
- 59:35Speaker 1: right now, if anything happens on planet earth, we are
- 59:39Speaker 1: sent at least 40 videos of it.
- 59:42Speaker 7: Yes.
- 59:42Speaker 1: You know, um, I mean, people can video everything. We
- 59:45Speaker 1: had video of what happened to us Friday night, ending
- 59:49Speaker 1: the tour, multiple videos. So, um, Everybody can document anything.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Game cameras, the technology there continues to improve. And you
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: tell us that we can't seem to find a population
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: of gigantic creatures. And every time somebody says they've got something,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: it gets debunked. And now this has been debunked. Apparently,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I'm not. Landing on that. Some of the testers said
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: this is not proof that Bigfoot is a hoax. It
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: may not prove Bigfoot as a hoax, but it would
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: prove that this piece of evidence that you had is invalid.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Which was the most compelling evidence. It was. I mean,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I told you. I mean, I was the same way.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I said, they proved this to be true. Then we
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: know the answer. Yeah.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: I've heard the theory that Bigfoot is actually blurry. You
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: see him in real life. That's why he's always blurry
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: on the camera.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: He's blurry.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: He's just a blurry.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: He's a blurry person. He's a blurry creature. Or animal. Yep.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So that's your theory?
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: That's my theory.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Well, I like it. Okay.
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: Speaking of Loch Ness and all this, Bigfoot. So you
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: guys know I've got the X-Files.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Here we go. You love the X-Files.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: Halloween decoration.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Yeah, the skeletons.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: The X-Files was a show from the 90s, classic show.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: It's really not that good. My wife is a big
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: fan of it. And so you play along. And in
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: my yard, the two agents from the X-Files are running
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: towards an alien ship.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: And they happen to be skeletons.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: And they just happen to be skeletons.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: FBI jackets on.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: FBI jackets on, so you can tell what it is.
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: So that makes them not skeletons. Everybody gets the reference, Greg.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I got you.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: I added a jackalope.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: You did? That's right, you did.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: To the scene. And the jackalope was just sitting there.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: And it's like a little life-size one. Well, I wanted
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: to add Bigfoot, too.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: So I went online. I found a little Bigfoot that
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: was supposed to be peeking.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: A little Bigfoot?
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: Well, a Bigfoot. It was supposed to be a head
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: and a hand coming out, but just an outline, just
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: like a metal, laser-cut, flat sheet. But you light it
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: from the back, and it looks funny. It looks like
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Bigfoot's poking out. It came in the mail. And Bigfoot's
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: arm is, like, as long as my finger. And, like,
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: the head is, like, as big as my nose.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Oh, what are you?
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: What? It's Littlefoot. It came in the mail.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: You remember we tried to have bobbleheads, and we didn't
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: realize that they actually are other sizes.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: And we ordered them, and they came, and they, like, Christmas. Yes.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: And they didn't look like them.
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: So Littlefoot came in the mail. I can't put that up.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: That's embarrassing.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: I can't do that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: No. You're like Lisa. She'll order, like, a piece of furniture,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: and I'll go, and don't. check the measurements, and it'll
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: show up. She'll go, I thought it was supposed to
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: be bigger than that. I said, and then I'll look
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: and go, well, it said right here. I know. You
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: never look at that. The picture's so intriguing.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: I thought it was 13 feet, not 13 inches. Oh,
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: my gosh.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Mr.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Bo.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Boy, just. It's a big mess. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: So I'm looking at this, this seven foot seven animatronic Bigfoot.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: It's a little, it's a little bit scary, though. That
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: might be bad for the kids. So I might be not. Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Oh, that is a big one.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: That's a little scary.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: That's your big boy. Of course, it's fake. Right. Yeah.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: But.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: No, you're right. Those of you that want to cling
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: to Bigfoot, you certainly still can. You can. All we're
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: saying is if this was part of your presentation, it
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: looks like this has been debunked. That's all we're saying.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: That's it. If he's real, he must like. Adler said
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: he's so blurry that cameras can't pick him up. So funny.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: So funny.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Speaking of documentaries, I got another one y'all need to watch.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: It has nothing to do with creatures or anything.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Okay. I love a good dog.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Do you?
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I love a good dog. Oh, I love a good dog.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I do too. You're going to love this one. We'll
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: be right back. More of the show coming up right
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: after this.
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: So that's coming up. So to update you on where
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: you are, if you have not been with us, welcome.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Glad you're here. You've already missed three hours. So go
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: back and grab that on the archive today, either on
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: our podcast channel or our YouTube channel. So if you
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: missed Dickie Nadmeyer yesterday after Alabama's second loss in a
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: row in two Tennessee, a lot of folks are saying, hey,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: that was a do not miss. It's on our Facebook
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: page and YouTube page. If that's just what you're looking
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: for or just yesterday's full archive, it's there too. Also,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: if you go to the store at rickburgesshow.com, you'll see
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: some new items. The new hoodie is there. That was
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: introduced on the tour but wasn't available to you, the public,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: unless you were at the tour. It is available now.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: The Mr. Lucky shirt, the classic, it's available on the store.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: And if you did not get to the tour or
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: you got to the tour and you just didn't get
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: any merch and you want some now, all tour merchandise
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: has been marked. It looks like, what, half off? I
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: saw like some $ 40 items are down to like $ 17
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: or something like that. So you can grab those as well.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: They're in the store. And then tomorrow, men out there,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: if you're looking to get tickets to the Manchurch conferences
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: in 2027, probably as far as two weekends and two
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: lineup of speakers, so that would be Andy and I
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: are both. So I guess you would say six speakers
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: plus Andy and me. I think it's as far as
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: putting men and speaking in the same weekend's I think
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: it is the strongest weekends we've ever had. So we
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: will tell you more about that tomorrow, but just kind
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: of FYI on that. And if you did not make
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: it to the Are You Ready Tour or you were
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: there and would love to see a documentary of the tour,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: we do have that being worked on right now. And
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: if you'd like to find out more about that, go
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: to our homepage. You see a QR code. Scan that,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: and you are letting us know you want to be
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: sent something that information when it is ready. So as
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: we start this hour, I'm just going to tell you,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: I don't follow the news a whole lot these days.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I just don't have, I just got too much going on.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I understand it's important. I try to stay updated the
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: best I can, but I just can't, I'm no longer
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: a news talk junkie. I just can't do it anymore.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: But I know that there's something going on in Paris and,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I don't fully follow it because at one time we
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: were being told that what was going on in Paris,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: it was student protest over tuition for college. But then
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: every time I would see the footage, and commentators would
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: point this out, it looked like Muslims to me trying
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: to burn down cities. So have we left that narrative
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: of it's students now?
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not students.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Well, we know it's not, but you remember we were
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: told that in the beginning.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Right, exactly. It's an Islamo-communist. The communists have teamed up
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: with the Islamists, and they're burning France.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: They're burning France, and they're flying Muslim flags. They're burning Paris.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: And then it's kind of... Spilling over into Italy as well.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: France is a mess. It is an absolute mess. And
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: we are doing this. I mean, I know I'm not
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: asking you all to get in the minds of the protesters,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: but what is their beef? I'm burning down Paris for what?
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: What's Paris?
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: It looks like to just loot and take things is
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: what it looks like to me.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Am I trying to take over Paris and put Paris
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: under Sharia law? Am I an anarchist?
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Okay, what am I doing?
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: Well, they're burning, you know, here's a 180-year-old hotel being
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: just crumbling in the fire.
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: That's a big fire, y'all.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: And the worldwide media is still hanging on to this student-led...
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: protest when we obviously see what's going on right but
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: they still are pushing this narrative if you were to
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: google it or whatever that's what comes up if you
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: were to ask hey why is this happening right it
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: would be student-led protests over school conditions tuition cost you
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: know broader public anger over the high living cost teacher
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: shortages you know blah blah blah blah but we see
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: what's happening yes with our own eyes.
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: And and yeah the local parisians are like i i
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: I'm pro-migration. Please stop ruining. Why are you doing this?
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: This isn't the cause. There is no cause. Chaos is
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: the cause.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Just about chaos, mayhem. Yes.
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron is going to a Celine Dion concert
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: with his wife and dancing. That was just on Friday.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: That's great. Well, as Speedy has mentioned, and hopefully we've
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: been wise enough, we certainly have with There's all kinds
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: of critique you can make and have every right to
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: concerning the Trump administration, but closing the border and stopping
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: this complete ignorance of having open borders, that has been
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: a complication. And I know there's still a lot of
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: people in here that rolled in during all that, but
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: at least we stopped it. And any nation that doesn't
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: vet out who's coming into their nation, as you can see,
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: you do not have a sovereign nation. You don't have
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: control there. And you are putting your citizens and your
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: cities in danger. People are saying it's even spread to
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: other French cities now. So I guess you can say
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: France now, like you said originally, Speedy. So this is
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: what you get. Now, as you said, Adler, nobody wants
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: to admit that. That's, I think, where we came up
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: with this student thing. No one wants to admit that
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: this is a mistake that we as France made when
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: it comes to open borders. It's like, you know, so
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: you make up another narrative because you don't want to
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: admit that's what's happened. And you see what's happened in Dearborn, Michigan.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: A lot of you are texting about that right now.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: And if you want to have open borders and you
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: want to go back to that again, this is your future.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Just look to the future because the not understanding and
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: you thinking that somehow you can have unvetted open borders
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and this not happen is I mean, look what happened
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: in Spain. Look what's happening here. Look what's happened in London.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: You have examples. It's not like you wonder what's going
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: to happen. You can actually see what's going to happen.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: And I know sometimes Americans and our foolishness, we will think, well, yeah,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: but not our country. Just like we think we can
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: do communism and get it right. That's my favorite. It's
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: never worked. It's never worked. But if we try it,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: it'll work. No, that's that. And then we'll turn around
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: and say, we shouldn't be arrogant. So that's not arrogant
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: to think that everything that's failed in the history of
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: the world that somehow Americans will do it and it
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: won't fail. And you're a person that thinks America should
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: be arrogant. And then you just said that we could
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: do it different. See, there's so many inconsistencies and all that.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: So anyways, it's horrible to see, but maybe it can
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: be a wake up call. And I heard you guys
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: say it. I don't care what your political ideology is.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: If you're sitting president as your cities burn. is taking
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: his wife to dance to a Celine Dion concert, surely
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: that bothers you, right?
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and you can kind of tell who's leading this
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: too because Adler was showing B-roll of one shop owner
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: that had spent her life creating a business, and within
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: 90 seconds it was all gone, and she was pleading
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: with them to stop. There's another video of a Muslim-owned
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: little shop And she comes out, and she puts a
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: stick out, and she announces, hey, I'm Muslim-owned. And they
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: stop and go, don't go in there.
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: It seems to be targeted.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: It does. It does.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: And there's the video there that I'm referring to.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: There are reports that not a single Muslim-owned shop has
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: been looted.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Yeah, like that guy pushing everybody.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: They don't have the police force that they need. Number one,
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: they don't have the numbers like we do in America.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: Number two, they're not doing anything about it. Macron has
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: not declared a state of emergency. So instead of having
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: police or yourself to guard your shop, maybe you should
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: hire a woman in a hijab and maybe they'll leave
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: your shop alone.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: That's what it looks like. Oh, like you'd put a
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: little garden gnome out there or something?
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: Sure.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: We'll be right back.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: And I don't know, when Speedy first showed this to me,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: it looks almost fake. And I guess the reason why
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I think it is fake, and I don't think it's fake,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I'm just saying, the reason why I thought it was fake,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: is a better way to put it, I'm not sure
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: if it's fake or not, is that I don't see
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: an all-out brawl take place. I would expect there to
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: just be pandemonium If this were to happen, if for
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: no other reason, you just went up and jacked somebody
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: who was running onto the field.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: I think they just couldn't believe it happened.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Let's say they don't even have a flag. I mean,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: if I'm running on the field and the opposing team
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: comes over and blindsides me, how come they're just not
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: just complete, just chaos of a fight breakout? But in
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: this particular story, what's being presented to us is in Oregon,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: the two teams are playing high school football. One runs
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: out with the American flag and an opposing player blindsides
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: the flag carrier and knocks him down and then kind
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: of runs back to his team. It's the weirdest. Wouldn't
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: you think, even without the flag, if that happens, wouldn't
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: they suspend the player that did it? Yeah, of course.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: That's why they've asked the Oregon School Activities Association, that's
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: the state school athletic governing body, for answers. And they
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: contacted OutKick, who asked them for a statement and said
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: that they're aware of the pregame incident. and noted that
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: the player was ejected and didn't play in the game.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: It was looking for emphasis from Jefferson High School, where
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: a player attended. And as of Monday– They're just running
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: on the field. They hadn't had any answers, but now
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: they do. And like you're saying, the team, I think,
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: was in shock, wasn't sure what in the world to do.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Like, I can't believe 47 just rolls over here to
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: the sideline. I mean, did he not see it? Did
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: he not see it?
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: I think he might not have seen it because it's– Rick,
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: that may have been targeting.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I mean, that was... That's just... Egregious. That's assault.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: Oh, it.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: I don't know about assault, but I mean... He's suspended
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: from the game. But I would say that I can't
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: believe it's not just complete... Yeah. Like, everybody fighting... Look
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: at the other guy with the flag, whatever kind of
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: flag that is. Right. So, here's the thing. I know
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: we don't know these answers, okay? So, I'm not asking
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: for them because we don't have them.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: Is this.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: a protest against the flag, or does he hate that player? Yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: No matter what. Is there a storyline that they didn't
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: like each other? No matter what. He cheated on him
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: with his girlfriend. I mean, what? This is my chance?
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, he could very easily. He just
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: happened to be carrying the flag.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: We did find out, though, that this player's mother plays
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: in the WNBA, so maybe it is. There it is.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: Oh, that explains it.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: So, anyway, that's just weird, and I'm looking at it,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: and I agree with you all. That's a real video.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: And everybody wants answers, but it just– I think y'all
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: are right. I think people are like, can't believe what
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: he did. So they don't even have a reaction because they–
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: They're processing that I really just see that, right?
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: Right, but I would argue that it is assault. The
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: game hasn't even started.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's like you went and just punched someone.
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: Yeah, you can't run up and do that to a person.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Well, you can't even do that now anymore within the game.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: That's a good point.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: He would have been ejected in the game.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Apparently the coach of the team that had the guy
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: on it that was kicked out or whatever was making
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: excuses for so-called diversity issues. than he did his player
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: targeting and blindsiding this other player that was carrying the
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: American flag. So there's an investigation into what in the
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: world is going on. We have those questions today and
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: doesn't seem to have enough answers because people are just
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: shocked that something like this would happen. I mean, it's
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: just like you're saying, it's not like, you know, we've
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: all seen pushing and shoving on, on the 50 yard
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: line and everybody, you know, get off my.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Side of the 50 or whatever. And nobody's really going
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: to do. Yeah.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: Or somebody walking around with headphones on before the game
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: and they have an interaction with the, but this, yeah,
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: this was just an all out blindside hit.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Well, I have to say, I can't believe the fight
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: did not. I would have thought it would have taken minutes.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I bet that team's not very good. Right. It might be. Uh,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: you guys, I'm saying let that happen. If you let
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: that happen. But, um, yeah, I think that, um, I
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: would like to pass along to the college pro games
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: that I watched over this past weekend. I know, and
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: this is just reminding me of it, we've changed the
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: blindside block rule. Okay? Have y'all not passed that on
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: to the players? I saw so many players get penalized
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: for blindside blocks. The players have not learned that that's
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: not part of the game anymore. It's almost like the
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: shot is just so easy. You can't help but take it. And, boy,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: think about it. For generations of football, we've done. And
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: the crowd would go, ooh. That's what happened. Yeah. I
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: kind of miss the blindside. It's funny. Big Love was
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: laughing about it when they outlawed it. My middle son,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: he was like, I wish they'd outlawed it before that
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: one happened to me that night.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: We've all had that happen. He got drilled. On a
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: blindside block. I've got hit on a blindside block back
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: in the day. I have done many a blindside block.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: So now you're supposed to run up and just put
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: your body between them and the ball carrier. But has
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: nobody passed it along to the players that that's not
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: a rule anymore? You catch him looking back. Reading a
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: little bit more on the story.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: So Grant High School was the school that the player
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: was carrying the American flag out. Jefferson High School was
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: the one that had the kid come and hit him.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Looks like Grant High School did win the game, 35-14.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: They moved to 6-1. Jefferson's record dropped to 1-6.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: Wow, they're the Jefferson Democrats.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Yes, they are.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: And I'm seeing here, and I don't know if this
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: is true, but comments are that the player actually bragged
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: about doing it and it had to do with the
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: American flag. But this is comments associated and attached to
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: this story, so I don't know if they're.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Real or not. So the guy playing for Jefferson... Hit
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the guy playing for the other team. Correct. Does he
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: know the history of Thomas Jefferson? I don't know. That's
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: some bad news for him. It's like he was a
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: black player to me. Yep.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: To fill you in on the Democrats. You're not going
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: to like some things I say.
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: I can't believe their mascot is literally the Jefferson Democrats.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: Right. Is that more common? Are y'all serious?
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: I'm serious.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Straight up. Watch it.
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: No, that's Jefferson High School. Jefferson High School Democrats.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Well, they must be named after George Jefferson. That's good.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: It's a donkey and everything.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Oh, that's so good. More of the Rick Burgess Show
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: coming up right after this.
- 1:19:27Speaker 7: This is the Rick Burgess Show.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: BD, Greg Adler, all here. Vox seats are full. Next hour,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: we'll meet them, and we'll have a Burgess ball battle.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: So welcome, guests. Glad you're all here now. As we
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: move forward, we had some that ran a little traffic issue,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: but they're here. They're here. Everything's ready. Everybody's ready. You
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: never know about the interstate, do you? You never know.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: You just never know. There's no.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: And sometimes I get mad at the little maps thing
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: because it's like, well, you.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Didn't tell me.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Why didn't you give me a warning? I never warned you.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: I got lucky the other day, and it normally doesn't happen.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: I needed gas, so I pulled over. And as I
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: pulled over, I was like, why are all these cars
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: coming from people detouring around? So I was like, I
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: reset the maps, and it was solid red for miles
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: ahead of me.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: And I'm like. Thank you, Lord. And so I was
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: able to get around. It's gotten so unpredictable. And it's hard,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: like you said, to be disciplined to do this. Yeah.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: It doesn't even matter if I know where I'm going
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: or not. I still turn the maps on for that. Yeah. Especially.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: I got excited about this beautiful weather. I think, how
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: nice would it be to go to the farm right now?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I want to go so bad. And then all of
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: a sudden I remember 65 and I'm like, meh.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Meh.
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: Meh.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: That's it. That's it. Gary will know when you pull up.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: Hey.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got his lookouts down there.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: You know what?
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I feel like today we're kind of a Debbie Downer
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: for people because we keep debunking stuff.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: Yeah, Rick.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: You didn't take the Patterson film away from me. The
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: Patterson film, I'm afraid. All my hopes were in it.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: There is a documentary on Prime that says, hey, we've
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: unearthed Patterson film was a fake, which I thought it
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: probably was. It was a good one, though. Well, now,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I thought we were going to find Amelia Earhart's wreckage.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Step out again. Golly. Step out again. No way I
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: can pronounce these islands here. Won't even try, but, um,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: research Greg researchers made their first mistake is Gary would say, Hey,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: let me tell you what the first mistake was. I
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: thought they could have something. So they come out of
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: the gate. They think they found an anomaly. They got
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: all fired up about this little island. They thought that's
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: right where she flew. We think we found it. We're
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: going to go find a mega air heart stuff. Don't
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: find the craft. Uh, and they thought it was right
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: there in a lagoon. On the remote Pacific island of Nikumaru. Nikumaru.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Something like that. Anyway, so the theory centered on this
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: object that they said, as I said, they thought was
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: an anomaly in the satellite imagery. They found it in 2020.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: Researchers suspected this could be the wreckage of Earhart's Lockheed
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Electra 10E. Greg Stalker is here today. Do you know
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: that airplane at all? Okay. So anyway, but, which is
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: a smelly subject.
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: It is.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Now they are saying it was likely a collection of
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: large trees.
- 1:22:37Speaker 7: What?
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Deposited along the peninsula's sand pit. Not just the wrong plane.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: Because by the time the team arrived at the site,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: a good portion of the anomaly, in quotes, was gone.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Who's looking at that? The debris had fragmented and had
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: washed away. Only a Y-shaped segment of it was even left.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: So if it was able to rot and they get
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: there and it is nothing. There's a big pile of
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: rotten wood. They need to find another guy that's looking
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: at stuff. Is that that island they claim had them
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: big crabs that supposedly ate her? Isn't there a theory
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: out there? Oh, yeah. That's the only part I remember.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: So anyway, if you were looking for Amelia Earhart's plane
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: to be found, no. Clump of trees. Look. That's a
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: long way to go for a clump of trees. That's
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: a big miss. That's a long way to go for
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: a clump of trees. I would rather go, it's a plane,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: but it's not hers. At least it was a plane.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I'm afraid that's one of those things where you got
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: to pick the scrubs and say, let's send them. And
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: then if they find something, then y'all holler back, we'll
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: all head that way. Oh, look at these crabs. God,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: they're so big. Is that the one that supposedly killed them?
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Yeah, you're right, Greg.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: Right again. He'll be right in a second.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: You think she was just hanging there and stuff?
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: They're three feet wide.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I don't think one would kill me, though. I don't know.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: What if you all pinned up?
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: They can start eating your toes.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Here they come. One bite at a time. Look at
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: it compared to a dog. That is big. No, it's real.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Straight up. That's not real. Greg, not killed her. I
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: think you're missing it. I have crashed. I can't move.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I'm broken up, and they ate me.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: That's a good analogy. She was paralyzed or something. She's
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: trying to get him off, and she can't. I'm just saying.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: That would be awful. That would be misery. Speedy is
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: the best physical humor. No, I'm just saying. I can imagine.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: How is she looking? She's just laying there.
- 1:24:35Speaker 6: She's.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: She's trying to get them off. And it's just, I mean,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: they're on your chest. Are they known to kill people? Not, Greg,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: not kill people. Eat people. Oh, yeah. She's already hurt.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: They ain't going to run up and grab you by
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: the leg and throw you down. But if you're already down.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: We're here to clean up. Oh, I got you. Kind
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: of like a buzzer. But if you didn't go all
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: the way in. Also, you think, plane crash, I made it. Oh, no.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: I wonder where they start. Like toes.
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Nose or toes?
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: Toes and nose.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Like a python. Head, shoulders, knees, and toes. I can
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: tell you where chimpanzee's starting. It's not good.
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: Look at where they're fighting. Look at where they're fighting
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: each other.
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: What?
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: I cannot believe. We used to catch crawfish and make
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: them do that. You remember that in Whiskey? Yeah, make
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: them fight.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: By the way, on the list.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: Take it easy, Michael Vick.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: By the way, I can take a crab.
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: Excuse me?
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: You can do what? I can take one of those crabs. Oh,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: take a crab? I don't want to. It can't take
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: me down. Go to break. I'd have to be broke up,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: you know, and I had to be broke up. Yeah, oh. Now,
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: if they eat me, you know. Now, I'm not going
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: to lock him around me. No. But full strength, he
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: can't take me.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: You slinging a leg like this and throwing it?
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I'm going to keep my own. Oh, if they found
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: me broke up, buddy, they'd call friends and say, we
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: got great news.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: It's a big old crab.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: You would not believe the meal that's laying over there.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Go ahead and bring your kids. There's plenty. Yeah. Speaking
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: of large animals, python hunters have snagged Puerto Rico's largest
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: python on record. After it was spotted, stand by, strangling.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: A pet cat.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I hope they didn't interrupt it. I hope
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: they let it go.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: You know, I mean, this thing is so long. There's
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: a bunch of them holding it, and it goes from
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: one side of the road to the other that long.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: How long is it? It was over 19 feet, I believe.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: I had to think if Mike could tell us, but boy,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: it's big. It's a big one. That's your big boy
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: right there. That thing is huge.
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I don't like knowing these things exist. Is there anything
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: worse when you see some image on like a documentary
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: and you think it is like an AI and suddenly
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: they let you, oh, no, no, this is it.
- 1:26:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Oh, wow, I thought y'all were exaggerating. 18.4 is what
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: it was long. 18.4.
- 1:26:49Speaker 7: Hey, now.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: That's a long one. You were the guy we had
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: on the other day wrestling.
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Against that one. I'd like to see him take that.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: You think you could take that, Rick? Where? 18-4, Python. No. No.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: No.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: No to that, but yes to Wolf. Have you ever
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: seen an 18-foot Python get ahold of somebody? Have you
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: ever seen a wolf get ahold of something? No, I haven't.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: Rick, here's a man taking it on.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: No, you're the one that says you can take it.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: I've never seen a man take on a wolf and
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: do well, but here's a man taking on this python.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Well, I mean, are we in a full-blown match, or
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: did I just catch it?
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I don't know if you could with your shoulder. It'd
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: just knock that shoulder out.
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: Bicep gone again.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Let me ask you this. If their little foot wouldn't
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: be able to hang on. Why aren't they killing that?
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: You know, why are you sitting there playing?
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: Look how quick it just wraps around that leg and
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: starts to squeeze.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Some weirdo with a skeleton in their yard would want
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: to have it as a pet. Sorry, Adler. I'm sorry, buddy.
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: I had a snake and I had crabs.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: You did?
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: Hermit crabs.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: And skeletons.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: Hermit crabs, Greg.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Did you hear, if you just joined us.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: As a kid, I had crabs, hermit crabs as a kid.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Okay, my one.
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: We found them crackling old brand. We found them crackling
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: old brand.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Make fun of that. We had hermit crabs at one time. Well,
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: you buy them when you're at the beach, and then
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: you forget about them.
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: Yeah, we did. We lived in Florida, so they did
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: a little bit better.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: By the way, now I want you to think about
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: where I am. I hate to hear that. I want
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: you to think about where I am on pets. Where
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I am on pets, okay? Oh, I know. But, you know,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: when you're a parent, things happen that you wouldn't do
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: if you weren't a parent, okay? At one time in
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: my life, in my life, at one time, Our house
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: had one, two, three dogs, three, a cat, and hermit crabs.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: And hermit crabs. And they were the easiest to deal with.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Everywhere you looked, there was some sort of pet. Why
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: would anybody want a hermit crab? You think they're kind
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: of cool. Don't they paint them up? They paint them up.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: They do things with them.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: You ever seen one swap shells and get out of
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: its shell?
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: No.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: It's weird. No wonder it wears a shell, because it's
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: hiding a weird butt. I'm telling you, nasty.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Did yours do that?
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: You ever see one get confused in the ocean and
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: put its butt in a tin can and it's walking
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: around with a tin can around?
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: It's hilarious. You really lived a life of watching the
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: life of crabs that far exceed the rest of us.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: I still want to be Steve Irwin.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: He does.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: I know a lot about animals.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Time to let it go. You're going to be him
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: again at Halloween. I'll never let it go. He wears
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: khaki every now and then in honor of Steve. Usually
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: on the day Steve dies. You know what Franklin would say?
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: I'd like to see a little more enthusiasm about me.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: You know, I'm not as enthusiastic about Franklin out of
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: all the animals in my life.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: So what was your snake's name? Mr.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: Bojangles.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: Mr.
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: Bojangles.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: That's what I thought.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: And you lost him but just moved anyway, right? Didn't
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: it just disappear and you just left it?
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: He's just wandering the streets of Five Points, Birmingham, Alabama now.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Y'all do realize he just left his snake. No, he
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: lives in the person's couch that bought his house.
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: Oh, I hope he's happy.
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: This is The Rick Burgess Show.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Here comes Denise. So, Denise, you are back. The last
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: time we saw you was in Huntsville.
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Where you were one of the stars of the evening.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: What a show. And what a show it was. So,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: welcome back.
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: Hey, Greg.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: You don't know how many people said that to me
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: during the show. Oh, there it is. So the shirt
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: today ain't no mountain high enough to keep me from
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: getting to Greg. You ought to sing it. Ain't no
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: mountain high enough to keep me from getting to Greg.
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: Okay, and I got to give credit where credit is
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: due because I asked my husband. I gave him choices
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: because I got like eight shirts ready to go on
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: my iPhone. I just got to decide which one I'm
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: going to do. So I gave my husband like two
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: to choose from, and this is the one he chose.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: That is a good-looking shirt. What's your husband's name?
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: Glenn.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Hey, Glenn. Good choice, Glenn. Oh, Glenn.
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: Now, everybody in Vans Valley calls him Poor Glenn.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Poor Glenn? Yeah, I get that. I understand that.
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: Sure.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: Right, poor Glenn. They do.
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: And I say poor Denise for what I have to
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: put up with.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: You don't have a room like at y'all's house. He goes, no,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: this is Greg's.
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: No, not at all. Just a closet.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, like in your mind, like when he finally comes home. Right.
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: Not at all.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: I'm just wondering. Whatever. Awkward.
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: Y'all know I love Greg because of his smart age.
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: responses and you know it usually.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Has another effect on people yes that is good yeah
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: and you you are like some people say and this
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: happened on the entire tour not just the one you
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: were at where people would come up and they would
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: say i don't know it's just feeling they were like
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: greg speaks for me i think like greg he talks
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: like me and they almost have this little apprehension like
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: Is that okay? I'm like, well, don't feel bad about that.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: Greg speaks for a large portion of society.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: And so you're saying that's what you relate to is
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: his attitude. Yeah.
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: Just he's going to say it. Everybody else is thinking it,
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: but Greg's going to say it.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: I've been working on that.
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: No, don't. Don't stop. Don't stop being you. I really
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: don't have nothing else. But you acknowledge that being a pilot–
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: in flying over Greg's house and dropping packages, that that's unique. Yeah, yeah. Unique.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: That's uniquely you.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: I will say it is unique to y'all ground-based people.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: I got you.
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: I got you.
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: But in the pilot world, it's not a big deal,
- 1:32:47Speaker 6: which makes me think of, y'all were talking last week
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: about the skeleton. Well, in October, we have a pumpkin drop.
- 1:32:57Speaker 6: And so what I think would be a good idea
- 1:33:00Speaker 6: is you, Greg, put a skeleton up in your yard,
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: and I fly over and drop a pumpkin and try
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: to knock it over.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Oh, okay. That would be fun. That would be fun.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: If I play with some big giant skeletons. Yes.
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Now, of course, couldn't you get an issue if you
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: took out somebody's dog, though, or something? Yeah. Because I
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: bet it's coming on down. I bet it's coming on down.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Put Millie in the garage.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: Put it somewhere out there in the field somewhere. In
- 1:33:23Speaker 6: between the power lines and the trees and that big section.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Right there. Yeah. See how much she knows about it?
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: Well, we kept trying to zero in on that drop.
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: And the hay hadn't been cut. Right. The hay was high.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: But now it's cut.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: But I mean, you know, I'm ready. I got the
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: plane ready to fly. I got a pumpkin on standby.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Pumpkin and a plane. I'm telling you, that's what.
- 1:33:46Speaker 6: We do in October. We have pumpkin drops and it's
- 1:33:49Speaker 6: so much fun.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Yeah. We'll get targets and go drop them on them.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: Oh, that's funny.
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and then whoever gets closest to the target wins
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: a prize, basically.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: You remember, I keep bringing this up. Is it just,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: can we not keep food from being dangerous now? No, Rick,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: food's after us. Nearly 1.6 million pounds of hot dogs, bacon,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: and other meats recalled The recall is nationwide. The USDA's
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: FSIS gave the recall, are you ready for this, its
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: highest classification. Is it for some type of? Aren't hot
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: dogs dangerous enough? They are. I mean, 1.6 million pounds
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: of ready-to-eat meat and poultry. That's not good. they said
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: potential temperature abuse during storage. You got to watch that.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: They let it get too hot. You got to watch.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: But then this is happening. We can't keep things that
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: people are allergic to from mixing with the things they're not.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: It's like, is everything just poorly done now? It does
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: seem like we're having more recalls. You can deal with
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: metal shavings in it. But when you get into it.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: growing bacteria and all that. Oh, the red hot dogs. Oh,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: I don't like that. I don't eat a red hot dog. No.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: That's like a dare. I don't think I've ever had that.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I have not had that. I've never had those. What
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: about Hebrew National? That's a good one. The mini ones, too.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: Let me ask you this question. When you were little,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: and surely not now, are there any adults that do this?
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Eat a hot dog weenie cold out of the refrigerator.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: I know. When I was a kid, I used to. Greg,
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: you still do that? You do that?
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: Every day.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: You do that? Every now and then. The two younger
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: guys do it. Wow. Yeah, look here. Y'all eat hot
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: dogs just right out of the pack? Oh, you don't.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: I did when I was a kid. I'll admit it.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: Now I think back and I don't know why I did.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: You know what? I don't have it hanging around anymore
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: and I kind of miss bologna. Yeah, I like bologna.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: I haven't seen bologna in years, Rick. Fry them up.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: I got to fry them. It's almost like bologna was
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: that person that I found out too many things about them.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: And I was like, I wish I hadn't known that.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: Like we've had people bring bologna here, smoked, and if
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: it's too thick, the thicker, I can't eat it. Me,
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: I like it thin. Yeah, remember that little red ring
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: you had to pull off of it? I like fried
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: bologna is number one. Yeah. You didn't have fried bologna biscuit.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: But you ate an old cold hot dog when you
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: were a kid? Yeah, when I was a kid. You
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: know what I remember about the old cold hot dog wings?
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: He used to drink pickle juice, too. You know what
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I remember about cold hot dog wings? Fishing with them.
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: Cutting little pieces off, put them on a hook, go
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: catfishing with them. Yeah. You could eat one, put one
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: on a hook. Real hungry. Yeah, but the red hot dog.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: The red dog. Guys, let me say something. It's so red.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: If you're getting a hot dog out and you look,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: And your hands are like you've eaten pistachios. Yeah, that's bad.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: I mean, that's not good. I mean, getting that on
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: your hand, that can't be good. My dad loves a
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: hot dog. Boy, he'll eat a hot dog. He likes
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: a good hot dog. He's had a good day. He
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: put a lot of fixings on it. I don't eat
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: hot dogs as much as I would even think I'd
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: like to. I think I'd like to eat hot dogs more.
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: If I'm at a baseball game, I'll put them away.
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: I'll destroy them.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: You'll go with the Polish?
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: I like a brat.
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: I like anything encased in hog skin.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: You know how I love spiral dogs. I really do. Oh,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: I do, yeah. But I don't fix them as much
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: as I would like to.
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: Hey, for the kids, I'm so old, oh my goodness.
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: For the guys that are in the audience here that
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: will eat a cold hot dog, Just throw it in
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: a frying pan and at least get some brown on
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: the outside. Brown it up a little bit. It'll make
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: a huge difference.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: It tastes good. It tastes good. Don't do that. I
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: think they're going for convenience and quickness. They're not dangerous.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: Turn the frying pan on high.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Roll it around.
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: Just give it a little toss-a-roo. Toss-a-roo.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: That was wisdom.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: What about when them old red weenies are sitting there
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: boiling in the water? Oh, no, thank you. So the
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: boiling in the water is even worse. How much did
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: you drink the water? How much would you.
- 1:38:20Speaker 7: Have to pay?
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: You've got to let it cool off. I was about
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: to say, can we let it cool off? All right,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: it's cool now, and I've been making old red weenies
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: at concession stands. And you've got to skim that.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: Top.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: And I just sent it over to you. Is there
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: any amount of money you'd drink it?
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: Hold on. I think I prefer it warm because then
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: it's like soup. I could trick myself into thinking it's soup.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: I'd drink it for a couple hundred. Well, I was
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: going to say, is it just a spoonful? No, you
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: got the whole pan. You got to drink the whole pan?
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: Oh, I was thinking.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: I'm going to say $ 600 at least.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: $ 40.
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: $ 40. $ 40. $ 220 is cash money now.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: $ 220 is I'm in. Yeah.
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: I could pretend it was soup.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I am so hungry. Sure you are. Also, looking at
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: this rally yesterday with... Where was this when, where Ted
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Nugent was? Oh, Ted. Oh, it's Kansas. It's all in Kansas.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: So 2D, 2D. You think he played white buffalo? So
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: there was a rally and there was an American patriot there,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: I guess, and he's going to give a great line
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: about Trump and he's going to compare President Trump to
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: his wife.
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: So this is a funny deal. This is Ted Nugent.
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: No, this is not Ted Nugent. It's the guy in
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: line going into a Trump rally there. Is there anything
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: you'd like to tell the president if you knew he
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: was watching right now?
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: Keep your head up and let's get this done. Trump's
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: like my wife.
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: There's some days I like him better than others, but
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: there's not any day that I don't love him.
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: Guys, that's sincere there. You know, Ted Nugent, I thought
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Ted was taller than that. That is great. That's not
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: Ted Nugent.
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: That wasn't Ted Nugent.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: That's not Ted Nugent.
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: Clearly not Ted Nugent.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: You've got to admit, that was a good answer.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: Great line.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: It was. I was going to play the Ted Nugent quote,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: but I'm afraid he may say something. You've got to
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: watch Ted. You've got to watch who? Y'all know.
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: Who?
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: F-bomb? Yeah, y'all had him on the air.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: Oh, buddy.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Well, he said something on the air that was worse
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: than that. Yeah. So much worse. More crude than that. Yeah.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Better way to put it.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: I think this is, Speedy, you sent this to me.
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: It's clean, isn't it?
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: He don't know.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: No, the beginning of it's kind of funny because he
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: says there's not many things that get him out of
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: the deer stand.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Oh, okay. And so it's just a little funny.
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: By the way, he's 78 years old. He says, I'm
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: 78 years old and I'm still ready to fight for America.
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: I'm not going to let my beloved United States of
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: America continue down the toilet for my grandkids. I love
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: that attitude.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: The Nuge.
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: I got cat scratch fever for the Nuge.
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: I love how you did the double air guns.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: The Nuge, he can play.
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: Yes, he can.
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: Not as good as Joan Jett. No, she was ranked higher.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: That's amazing. When she was ranked higher as a guitar
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: player than Ted Nugent in that list, guys, what did
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: he say? Everybody else on that list. Look, good singer.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: Great rock star, good singer, but we're talking about guitar.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: We're talking about guitar players.
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: She's playing bar chords and nothing more.
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: Yeah, that was just trying to be sharp.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: Everybody knows that.
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: Just trying to be sharp.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Well, you can tell that we just wrapped up a tour,
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: had the band in. Everybody's talking band lingo. Oh, yeah.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: Denise did have a quick message for you, Greg, if
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: you want that real quick.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: She sent me this video. Oh, okay. Denise, you're a fan, Greg.
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: I'm your number one fan. Me too. It's a blurry picture. Oh,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: there's Misery. There he is, laying in a bed. Oh,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: That was from the movie Misery. I'm so sorry. Wrong clip.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us.
