- 0:00I believe in that. They're going to give him a

- 2:39I have the privilege right now on the big screen to watch this
- 2:42debacle of a game. But nevertheless, hopefully the
- 2:46Knicks stay close and maybe they'll have a chance, chance to
- 2:49win the game at the end. But nevertheless, Jabba, there
- 2:52was a lot of things that happened this weekend.
- 2:53It's pouring rain right now. Sunday was raining.
- 2:57Now all of a sudden it's raining all day.
- 2:59We have flooding here in Long Island, even though we needed
- 3:01the rain. It's been absolutely brutal, all
- 3:04single, really all day. And the people on the road here
- 3:07in New York, when it rains, it's like it's snowing.
- 3:10Nobody knows how to drive here. They're absolutely horrendous.
- 3:14But I mean, you have a bigger story right now.
- 3:16How are you and your family doing?
- 3:18Oh, everything's good, man. I'll rub it in.
- 3:20It was 80° and perfect here today.
- 3:22So we had rain the other day. I took actually I took Owen's
- 3:26son to get his haircut. He was, he was in Dallas for a
- 3:31conference and his wife was at work.
- 3:33And I, we got him a sick mullet with some lightning bolts in the
- 3:36side and it was literally flooding in the streets.
- 3:40I had to like it was like I was playing Frogger to get over like
- 3:43the water puddles to get in the car.
- 3:45But yeah, we've needed, we've needed the rain too.
- 3:48Like it's, it's been so bad here.
- 3:50Everything probably like the last week is really, really
- 3:53greened up. But yeah, we were, it was bad
- 3:56for a while. Like everything was brown.
- 3:58Like we were almost in like a couple years ago where we had
- 4:01the drought. Yes.
- 4:02And so it's like you could only water on like odd days if your
- 4:06if your street number was an even number like it was, it was
- 4:10people getting like $500 fines for for using water.
- 4:13It was nuts. Well, I'll tell you.
- 4:15I'll tell you right now, Pollen over here in Long Island has
- 4:18been absolutely brutal. Oh, allergies are crazy right
- 4:21now. It is.
- 4:22People's allergies are stupid. Listen, Jabba, the cars right
- 4:26now, if you have a black or a blue car, it is.
- 4:28Gold. It is green.
- 4:30That's what it is here in New New York.
- 4:32It is absolutely horrendous. If you have allergies, if you
- 4:36have problems with grass or weeds or whatever the hell
- 4:39you're allergic to, you do not want to be here in Long Island
- 4:42at this time of year. It is horrendous.
- 4:44There's so many people sick right now.
- 4:46Now they have the cough flu. That's that's like a new thing
- 4:49here on Long Island. Now there's a thing called the
- 4:51cough flu. I don't get it.
- 4:54A cough. It's a cough, cough.
- 4:55A cough. So remember with COVID and, and
- 4:59everybody, you would get one of the, one of the, one of the
- 5:01things you would get is a long cough that never goes away.
- 5:04That is what it is here in Long Island.
- 5:06Now it, there's a thing called the cough flu.
- 5:08You get like a fever and then you start to cough and then you
- 5:12can't stop coughing for like over a week, week and a half.
- 5:15And it's a really bad cough that it feels like a burning
- 5:18sensation in the back of your throat.
- 5:19So many kids are getting it, the parents are getting it and now
- 5:22it's spreading like a wildfire right now.
- 5:24And it's, it's horrendous because the weather can't, you
- 5:27just can't figure out the weather weather right now.
- 5:29It's warm, it's humid, it's it's raining, it's cold.
- 5:33It it doesn't make sense. That's the same thing here too,
- 5:36when when kids start to get sick too.
- 5:38And like we had like a break out of like the measles and stuff
- 5:41too. But then it's like it goes from,
- 5:44you know, freezing, then it's 80°, then it's a Blizzard.
- 5:49And then now we get warm weather and then now it's just like, I
- 5:53mean, it's just we're, we're so hot and cold here.
- 5:57But I think we've kind of gotten through that stage.
- 6:00So hopefully, you know, it's supposed to be like in the 70s
- 6:03and 80s, pretty much the rest. But I never look at the weather
- 6:07because it changes here all the time.
- 6:08But yeah, it's just like everybody's allergies are just
- 6:11whack because it's like, oh, OK, it's going to freeze.
- 6:14OK, now it's warm. Then it gets hot again.
- 6:18But yeah, it's 70. 80 weather is not my thing any anything past
- 6:2269 is too much for me. I have to be room temperature
- 6:26outside for me to actually like the weather.
- 6:29I I would say San Diego weather is probably my favorite weather,
- 6:32but it's too expensive. If you think it's expensive
- 6:35living here in New York, don't go to San Diego.
- 6:37It's even worse. The Warriors advanced to the
- 6:39second round with a one O 389 win over the Rockets in Game 7.
- 6:45Buddy Hill tied the NBA record for a game seven with 9 three
- 6:50pointers made and finished with 33 points.
- 6:53Finally, he played a decent game.
- 6:55Steph Curry didn't score his first field goal until late in
- 6:59the second quarter, but still finished with 22 points, 10
- 7:02rebounds and seven assists. Almost a triple double.
- 7:05Jalen Green had another game scoring single digits, finished
- 7:10with eight points. Besides Game 2, where he scored
- 7:1338 points, he had 12 points or less.
- 7:16In every other game, the Warriors had just three points
- 7:21off their bench, the lowest total for a winning team in NBA
- 7:26history. The Warriors will face the
- 7:28number six seed, the Timberwolves, in the next round.
- 7:31Honestly, the Golden State Warriors absolutely deserved
- 7:35this opportunity to move on to the second round.
- 7:37I got to give Steph Curry a lot of I don't do that often.
- 7:41Steph Curry is one of the more unique players we've ever seen
- 7:45in NBA history. This guy is an unbelievable
- 7:48shooter. But there's other things that he
- 7:50does very, very well. And if you see the timeouts
- 7:53being called Steph Curry's out there.
- 7:55He's in the middle of the huddle.
- 7:56He is the guy that's speaking with the coach and Steve Kerr
- 8:00trying to give pointers and tips to all the players in the
- 8:03huddle. And it's, it's great to watch
- 8:05because you want to see that team, team leadership, including
- 8:08with some of these great old players, these veteran players
- 8:12like Draymond Green and Jimmy Buckets, guys that have stepped
- 8:15back and let Steph Curry take over.
- 8:17This is the first time, honestly, I've seen Steph Curry
- 8:21take over as, as far as I'm concerned as a leader.
- 8:25All these years he's played with Klay Thompson, who was a fairly,
- 8:29you know, unique player. And I would say, and I wouldn't
- 8:32say he's Steph Curry, but he played the same exact way when
- 8:35he came to shooting the ball. And in his release point.
- 8:38Again, Steph Curry is the guy that plays the point and he's
- 8:41running the he's running those pick it pick and rolls.
- 8:44And he's the guy that you're you're you're getting the ball
- 8:46to when you're trying to get the ball in inside or outside of
- 8:50when it comes to shooting. But what makes Steph Curry
- 8:53unique in this particular series against the Rockets is the
- 8:57Rockets with the young team we've seen for years.
- 9:00We've seen the young Golden State Warriors like I just
- 9:03mentioned, Klay Thompson and then Steph Curry and then on
- 9:07Green. These guys at one point of their
- 9:09lives, they were 2223 years old and they were the youth.
- 9:12They were the young team in the NBA, the up and coming team.
- 9:16And now it's a complete opposite.
- 9:18Klay Thompson's no longer on the team.
- 9:20You brought in Jimmy Buckets. He's an older player, but a
- 9:22fairly sensational player in the playoffs and and a great player
- 9:26all around. Hall of Famer.
- 9:27And then Draymond Green, he's a fetching player in his 30s,
- 9:30Steph Curry in his in his mid and late 30s.
- 9:32These guys are older now. They've been in these situations
- 9:36and now you're seeing the difference when it comes to
- 9:40you're not young, you're not you don't have the youth behind you.
- 9:44And I think the Rockets have a great future.
- 9:46I really do. I think they have a sensational
- 9:48coach. As long as he keeps his hands to
- 9:50himself and he keeps other things to himself, he's a great
- 9:53coach. We've seen him take his team all
- 9:55the way to the Finals, so he understands the game of
- 9:58basketball and he understands how to take personalities like
- 10:01Green, who reminds me of a lot of personalities in the NBA that
- 10:06think that they're better than they are.
- 10:07And I think this is, to me, a great opportunity for Jalen
- 10:12Green in the offseason to figure out who he is in the NBA.
- 10:16He did not have a good game. He did not have a good series.
- 10:19And he is a guy that's up and down throughout the playoffs and
- 10:24sometimes around the regular season.
- 10:26You need to figure things out if you want to be a star player in
- 10:28the NBA and you want to be considered one of the best 2
- 10:31guards in the NBA, you got to play better.
- 10:33You got to figure out who you are on the basketball court and
- 10:36some of these these guys on the Rockets couldn't figure that
- 10:39out. What was so interesting to me is
- 10:42this was probably the best coaching job I've seen Steve
- 10:46Kerr have in his career as a head coach with the Golden.
- 10:51You're giving him credit. I'm giving him credit because
- 10:54honestly, he's not the better coach in this series.
- 10:57He wasn't the better coach in this series, but nevertheless,
- 11:00he put his team in better and good positions then obviously
- 11:04the younger team and he didn't run his team out rampantly.
- 11:08He didn't wait, he didn't he didn't make his team get it put
- 11:12into positions where they're tired and and they played a
- 11:15great rotation. They had a great rotation of
- 11:18players. I loved what I saw with the
- 11:20Golden State Warriors. The question is, can they do
- 11:23that against the Timberwolves? The Timberwolves are also a
- 11:25young team. They have a phenom like Edwards.
- 11:28They got a great big and they have Julius Randle playing good
- 11:32basketball. They're getting good offense off
- 11:34the bench from Dante Divincenzo. This is a good team.
- 11:37The Timberwolves, if they get through, and I'll say this, they
- 11:40get through the Golden State Warriors, why couldn't they beat
- 11:42OKC? And we don't even know if OKC is
- 11:45going to come out of their next series against the Nuggets
- 11:47because we all know what Yokich is and what this team could do
- 11:50with the best player in the NBA. But I'm not even talking about
- 11:54that. I'm talking about this series.
- 11:55Buddy Hield finally had a good game.
- 11:57Ladies and gentlemen. Buddy Hield actually hit 3 point
- 12:01shot the whole series, chucking up up threes trying to figure
- 12:05out where his shot was going to be and and where he was going
- 12:09to. You want to know something,
- 12:10Errol? The last time that he busted
- 12:12Dylan Brooks's ass, it was in Oregon when he almost had a he
- 12:16had a 40 point game and beat him in the tournament.
- 12:18Speaking of Dylan Brooks. 2 Two of his biggest games have been
- 12:22against him, Oregon and Oklahoma and then this series and then he
- 12:25goes out and balls out and does what it is like it was, it was
- 12:29so funny seeing the comparisons and and how he did.
- 12:32I was like, oh, the same guy again.
- 12:34That's interesting. Speaking of Dylan Brooks in game
- 12:37six, what he did to Steph Curry and Steph Curry getting up and
- 12:40at the press conference pretty much saying he, he didn't say it
- 12:44in these words, but he called Dylan Brooks a bitch.
- 12:46That's pretty much what he said. He's a bitch and he likes to, he
- 12:50likes to push people around. He's not pushing me around.
- 12:52And the referees need to figure out how to call fouls on him and
- 12:56put him in, you know, give him technical fouls.
- 12:58He was Dylan Brooks is one of the dirtiest players we've ever
- 13:01seen. Draymond Green has been a dirty
- 13:03player his whole career and some people compare Dylan Brooks to
- 13:07the the old Draymond Green Draymond Green is obviously not
- 13:11the same Draymond Green he once was, but he he was to me, it was
- 13:14one of the more dirtiest players I've ever seen play in the NBA.
- 13:18But I I was impressed with what the Golden State Warriors did
- 13:21offensively, even defensively and, and I'll give Jimmy buckets
- 13:25a lot of credit. Jimmy Buckets isn't 100%
- 13:28healthy, but he has been as important defensively as any
- 13:32player on this golden Golden State Warriors team.
- 13:35He played the rim very well. He was rebounding the ball.
- 13:38He was defending multiple positions.
- 13:40He wasn't going out there looking for his shot.
- 13:42He knows that he has Steph Curry on the team.
- 13:45He knows that he has an offensive rounded team where if
- 13:49Buddy healed his hitting shots and then you have all the other
- 13:52guys on the on the bench coming off the bench hitting shots.
- 13:55He doesn't need to go out there and score 3035 points like he
- 13:59did over there in Miami. And I think that to me is the
- 14:03difference and the difference factor going into the next
- 14:06series against the Timberwolves. I think if you get a Jimmy
- 14:09Buckets that could give you 20 and 10, you're going to have a
- 14:13chance to beat the Timberwolves because the Timberwolves, you
- 14:15don't know what you're going to get with Anthony Edwards.
- 14:17And all you got to do is get into Anthony Edwards, his head,
- 14:20as we've seen before. And remember what happened to
- 14:22Dallas in the Western Conference finals last year, as soon as
- 14:26Luca got into his head and Kyrie Irving got into his head, he was
- 14:30not the same player. And I believe that if this team,
- 14:35the Golden State Warriors, with the the veterans that they have
- 14:37on this team and the the the way they run their rotations off the
- 14:41bench, there is nobody, nobody that would probably predict that
- 14:46the Timberwolves wouldn't come out the winner of this series.
- 14:49But again, I'm looking at the veterans, I'm looking at the
- 14:52talent that the Golden State Warriors have now and what they
- 14:55did at the trade deadline. There's no doubt in my mind that
- 14:58this team can knock off a very good young Timberwolves team,
- 15:02that I believe that if they get out of this series, there's no
- 15:06doubt in my mind they could beat the OKC Thunder or even the
- 15:09Denver Nuggets. Yeah, and we were talking about
- 15:10it a few years ago when Steve Kerr was criticized for the way
- 15:13he was using his young players. And I think there was a big
- 15:15difference in this series when you saw post go off at certain
- 15:19points, Podemski went off at certain points, Kamingo was kind
- 15:21of up and down but had his moments.
- 15:23And now you're finally seeing Steve Kerr be able to trust
- 15:26those guys a lot more because they know they have to.
- 15:28And again, my concerns with the Warriors still were kind of
- 15:31justified in Game 7 when they were dominated in size against
- 15:33that size. Those are really the only two
- 15:35players that played well too, where they're two big men.
- 15:37But besides that, they did a great job shutting down the
- 15:39perimeter. They did a great job even
- 15:41shutting down the veteran players with Vanvleet didn't
- 15:43have his uncharacteristic clutch performance as we've seen him
- 15:46have with the the Toronto Raptors and then Dylan Brooks.
- 15:50There's some kind of few that maybe they end up getting in the
- 15:52head and stuff like that to make that kind of thing work.
- 15:54But nevertheless, like this is a a team that they had to be a
- 15:58different identity in order to do that.
- 16:01And I think you found that with Steve Kerr in that coaching this
- 16:03game, right? the Rockets are young team.
- 16:05They looked young in that game. And Jaylen Green, he's got he's
- 16:08up to a contract soon. So they got to make a big
- 16:10decision with him if they could trust him.
- 16:13Yeah, it's, I think you hit the nail on the head too.
- 16:16I'll say I think this was Steve Kerr, like in the rotation that
- 16:20he had and how he kept them fresh because that was kind of,
- 16:23you go back and look at, you know, JJ Redick and how he
- 16:25played everybody in the second-half.
- 16:27And that's literally all he did. And even Magic Johnson came out
- 16:31and was giving him the business of, of playing all those guys
- 16:34and not resting them and doing that.
- 16:35But yeah, I I think it's just what I really think about the
- 16:40Warriors in what they are is obviously Steph being the leader
- 16:45and stepping up when he needs to.
- 16:47And even though he wasn't scoring early, still got 22, but
- 16:50him being the leader of it. But then knowing Draymond and
- 16:55knowing those guys in their roles and how they embrace them
- 16:59and they know that's what it is. And look, buddy hasn't been
- 17:03great, but we know he has glimpses of it.
- 17:07So he stepped up when he needed to.
- 17:10And Jimmy wants to win and he understands.
- 17:13It's like, OK, if we got a hot hand now I just need to D up.
- 17:17I just need to do this. If Steph ain't hot, we still got
- 17:20to get him the ball. We still got to get him chances.
- 17:21I think it's just really comes down to Steve managing them in a
- 17:26certain way, but all of them knowing exactly what their role
- 17:30is. And maybe if Steph's not having
- 17:32a good day, somebody's going to have to step up.
- 17:33We've seen him with with Jimmy and now we saw Game 7 when I
- 17:38mean, you're nuts are on the line.
- 17:39It's either win or go home, right?
- 17:41And Buddy steps up and and did what he did.
- 17:44Finally, finally, Mr. Luck Chucker.
- 17:47Right. And that's, I mean, and that's
- 17:49part of it. I mean, sun shines on a dog's
- 17:51ass every once in a while, right?
- 17:53You can only help. But it's a game, it's a Game 7
- 17:56and it happened at the right time and stuff.
- 17:58Still got you 22 so it's not like.
- 18:02He gave you a triple double practically.
- 18:04That's something that you expect your star players to do.
- 18:07He doesn't need to score 30 something points or 40 something
- 18:10points if he gives you 2010 and seven.
- 18:13I mean, that is something that Steph Curry doesn't really do.
- 18:16He gave you an all around game and he actually played some
- 18:19defense, something that I haven't seen Steph Curry do over
- 18:22the years. He's been an all around
- 18:24offensive style of player. Yeah, he steals the ball, but he
- 18:27actually played up the defended Van Vleet and Van Vleet actually
- 18:31was all over the place. Van Vleet couldn't figure out
- 18:34what his shot was in this series.
- 18:36He had one or two games that obviously showed you why he's so
- 18:40fantastic and such a great player.
- 18:42But I, I think it's been, it was very impressive watching Steph
- 18:46Curry this in this particular series, play defense.
- 18:50And I, I got it again, that goes to Steve Curry and the way he's
- 18:53making, you know, he's making the calls and he's calling
- 18:56defense and play calls. And I, I know.
- 18:59And by the way, I, I keep, I keep reading what's Fish is
- 19:01doing. I understand fish.
- 19:03They doubled him. Nevertheless, Steph Curry did
- 19:07what he needed to do, taking over the game and and he was the
- 19:10superstar that we believe he him to be.
- 19:13Everybody talks about what he does offensively, but it was
- 19:16what he did as a leader in this game and this series and what he
- 19:20did defensively in this series when he needed to.
- 19:23And I, I thought it was very encouraging.
- 19:25And that tells me that Steph Curry is growing up.
- 19:27This team is growing up because if they have a chance to win, if
- 19:31they want to win a championship with this roster, they're going
- 19:34to have to get players that you wouldn't expect to play and and
- 19:38have players do things that they're not expected to do if
- 19:41they expect to win a championship.
- 19:43That's how you win championships.
- 19:45When hockey, your goaltending can get hot.
- 19:47If your goaltender gets hot, anything's possible.
- 19:49In baseball, if you get a hot hitter and he's hitting and you
- 19:53can't strike him out and you got a great pitcher, if you pitch
- 19:56him two or three times in a series, you got a chance to win.
- 19:59And in a football, if you just have a hot.
- 20:01Great defense and you can run the ball and dominate the time
- 20:05off the clock. You're going to win no matter
- 20:07how good your quarterback is or how bad your quarterback is
- 20:10playing in that game. There is ways there's it's a
- 20:14chess board and in sports if you find the right piece to move,
- 20:18there's a very good chance you have a chance to win even if
- 20:21you're not expected to win. And I, I look at with with the
- 20:24Steph Curry Golden State Warriors is they might not be
- 20:28the most talented as they've been over the years, but they
- 20:31have enough pieces to win. And that, ladies and gentlemen,
- 20:35is going to play a big part if you want to watch the Golden
- 20:38State Warriors contend for a championship.
- 20:40Yeah, job. I understand.
- 20:41I mean, fish, don't worry about it.
- 20:43We'll go to break and we'll fix it.
- 20:44Can't do it now. The Nuggets blew out the
- 20:48Clippers 121 O one in Game 7 to advance to the second round.
- 20:53After the game, Nicole Yokich praised the interim head coach
- 20:57David Edelman, saying that he brought a certain energy that
- 21:01was missing from them most of the season.
- 21:04He added that the ownership wanted A-Team wanted A-Team
- 21:07culture change with the Nuggets since their championship season,
- 21:11and he thought this series definitely brought a new
- 21:15culture. Kawhi Manner told The Athletic
- 21:18that he was very frustrated after a very early exit and and
- 21:23and and is unsure what the team's future looks like after
- 21:28Kawhi was the only player who scored over 20 points in the
- 21:32game. James Harden had another
- 21:35disappointing performance in the elimination game, scoring only
- 21:38seven points, scoring 248 from the field.
- 21:42The Clippers have lost four of their last five, five games
- 21:47sevens dating back from 2015. The Nuggets will now face the
- 21:51number one seed, the Thunder, in the second round.
- 21:53Honestly, the Nuggets and I, I got to give Yokich a lot of
- 21:56credit. No superstar player after the A
- 21:59series would go out there and throw his old coach under the
- 22:02bus and ownership. You get praising ownership.
- 22:06I obviously Yokich was one of the guys that couldn't stand
- 22:09Malone because if he's going to go out there and praise the
- 22:12assistant coach and a guy that took over at the end of the
- 22:14season and a in a championship coach, coach which a
- 22:17championship team and practically this whole roster is
- 22:21the same when they won the championship says a lot about
- 22:24what their team leadership is and what the coach Malone what
- 22:28coach Malone was in the locker room and the character he was on
- 22:32the on the court. The question is even though they
- 22:36have David Edelman, they trust David Edelman.
- 22:38Is David Edelman the guy that's going to lead them to a
- 22:41championship? Malone was a championship minded
- 22:44coach. He's been a part of teams and
- 22:46and rosters over the years and he understands how to play the
- 22:50defensive side of the ball. Edelman, he likes to run the
- 22:53ball up and down the court. You see Russell Westbrook,
- 22:55Russell Westbrook looks better than he's ever had.
- 22:58And and I think Russell Westbrook in this series had I
- 23:02think it was 47% at the three-point line, something that
- 23:05we've never seen Russell Westbrook do in a series, in a
- 23:08basketball series, in a playoff series.
- 23:11It's very, very unique when Russell Westbrook over the years
- 23:14has always thought of himself as the best player, the superstar
- 23:17player, the triple double phenom phenom.
- 23:19And then you look at what Nicole Yokich is.
- 23:22Nicole Yokich was is practically the same player Russell
- 23:25Westbrook. Russell Westbrook is, but Russ
- 23:29is not a big man that 7 foot foot, 7 foot that can shoot
- 23:33threes and dominate the ball and pay and bring the ball up
- 23:37without any athletic ability. And and I I'll say not any
- 23:41athletic, athletic ability because he's a big man that can
- 23:43go up the court and looks like a deer in the headlights and he
- 23:47finds a way to pass the ball. He sees the court so well.
- 23:49He's like Wayne Gretzky on a basketball court.
- 23:52So it is impressive when you have your superstar come out and
- 23:57praise the coach, the assistant coach that's become a coach,
- 24:00praise ownership ship, praise the executives, the GM and
- 24:04everybody else, throw his old coach under the bus and then
- 24:08look at his team and say we can win a championship.
- 24:10We can go out and beat the OKC Thunder, we can win the West and
- 24:15we can surprise and shock the world with the team that we
- 24:18have, the roster we have. The only thing that worries me
- 24:21about the Nuggets right now is the Nuggets are on a high right
- 24:24now and they and the OK C Thunder, they've sit, they're
- 24:28sitting right now, they're relaxing.
- 24:30They're a young team. They're one of the youngest
- 24:32teams right now in the NBA. They got a tremendous amount of
- 24:35talent. They have shy Alexander that's
- 24:37going to be the MVP because the NBA wants him to be the MVP and
- 24:42they're very well coached as well.
- 24:44So OKC is going to have homecourt advantage.
- 24:47They have and and and again going into this series against
- 24:50the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, I love Kawhi Leonard.
- 24:53He's one of the more underrated players we've seen in NBA
- 24:56history. He is a bona fide Hall of Famer
- 24:58and when he is at the top of his game, you it's all what he did
- 25:02with Toronto. We seen that he was such an
- 25:04important piece to the San Antonio Spurs when they won
- 25:07their title against Miami. They're Kawhi Leonard's as good
- 25:10as anybody we've seen as a two way player.
- 25:13The only problem with Kawhi Leonard over the years, he has
- 25:15knees, he has knee problems. He can't stay healthy.
- 25:18And maybe Kawhi just doesn't see any future in the Clippers.
- 25:22Kawhi's getting old now. He's what, 3334 years old?
- 25:25He's getting up there in age. He wants to win another
- 25:27championship. He's won with multiple teams and
- 25:31now maybe he's thinking maybe the Clippers aren't the team.
- 25:34Maybe playing with James Harden is not where I want to be.
- 25:37And does somebody like Kawhi Leonard push himself out in the
- 25:40offseason and say I want to play for a championship competitive
- 25:43team? I don't want to be here anymore.
- 25:45It sounds like that's the way he's and that's the route he's
- 25:47going after getting an extension.
- 25:49It's it's crazy, but Nicola Yokich, I, this is the best
- 25:53player in the NBA. He's been the best player for
- 25:55the last six years. This guy has so much tread left.
- 25:59What is he, 3030, one years old? This guy's going to play at the
- 26:02time. Yeah, 3031 years old.
- 26:05He's going to play at the top of his game at least for another
- 26:07seven years. Because what he does, well, he
- 26:10doesn't need to go up and up and down the court like a Russell
- 26:12Westbrook or a big man that is looking to, you know, to set up
- 26:16and, and, and find his own shot. He sets up his own shot.
- 26:19He brings the ball up and creates passes and shots for his
- 26:24teammates. He is a unique player.
- 26:26Well, we have never seen a player of this magnitude.
- 26:29I, I know everybody keeps saying that Tim Duncan was is the
- 26:32greatest power forward to all the all time.
- 26:34I, I, I know Nicola Yokich is A5.
- 26:37To me, he reminds me more of a four because of his ability and
- 26:40what he does on the basketball court.
- 26:42So what is? But is there really a position
- 26:44now because he brings the ball up, he passes like A2 guard, he
- 26:49shoots like A2 guard. Like is it really a position
- 26:52anymore? Because it's not because he's
- 26:54doing things and you can't compare eras because he's doing
- 26:58things that no big man would have ever done 20-30 years ago.
- 27:03But it's also one of those things where there's no labels
- 27:06as much anymore if you could just have the traits to go along
- 27:08with it. We say the same thing about
- 27:10centers obviously being dying out for that reason, Java and
- 27:12then also point guards to an extent to where you're seeing a
- 27:15lot more wings that could bring the ball up.
- 27:16Now with Tatum, with Giannis, who's huge, who's 6 foot 10-6
- 27:20foot 11, who's like a power forward type, There's enough of
- 27:23those hybrid players. As long as you can shoot and as
- 27:26long as you could be a playmate. And that's where I think the
- 27:29position label is not the same way.
- 27:30He's a center based on his. He's a center based on just
- 27:33being the tallest guy in that lineup and being the most
- 27:36effective inside with everything he does.
- 27:38But yeah, there's definitely no skill set like him either.
- 27:40And like Errol was saying, like he doesn't have to rely on like
- 27:43a crossover, like extreme like athleticism to pass the way he
- 27:46does. Errol and I were talking about
- 27:48it two years ago when they won the championship.
- 27:49How many great no look passes, how many over his head passes
- 27:52that Nicole Yokich was able to do at that level?
- 27:54It's it's unbelievable what he's doing.
- 27:56You're right. There's no ever like him.
- 27:58There, there's definitely nobody like him and and I don't think
- 28:01we'll ever be a player of that magnitude.
- 28:03Now, Cooper Flag is a unique individual.
- 28:06He's not 7 foot, he's a six foot 8.
- 28:09You know, I I would say a six foot a power forward if you want
- 28:12to play him as a three. He's not big yet.
- 28:15He's not he doesn't have that size yet as an NBA player to
- 28:18play the four. But again, what Nicole Yokich
- 28:21does so well is he passes the ball.
- 28:24He's a big man that has a unique of advantage as a big man where
- 28:29he can actually dominate, dominate a game by passing the
- 28:32ball or rebounding the ball. He doesn't need a score, even
- 28:35though he does that very well too.
- 28:36And he's a pretty good defender too.
- 28:39He's one of the more underrated defenders as a big man in the
- 28:42NBA. So there's nothing, there's no
- 28:44weakness this man has. He blocks the ball.
- 28:47He does everything and he he's so very good.
- 28:50He understands the game. So I I, I think it's very
- 28:53unique. You get to see the two guys
- 28:55fighting for that MVP in in the next round.
- 28:58I do believe you call yo kid should be be be the MVP.
- 29:03But the NBA decided I think they've automatically made the
- 29:07decision that shy Alexander is going to be the MVP because he's
- 29:10never been in MVP. But to me right now, Nicola
- 29:14Yokicha, what he's done this year with a team and a roster
- 29:17that's been up and down, new coach at the end of the season
- 29:20and still put up the numbers that he's been putting up and be
- 29:23and was practically healthy all season long.
- 29:25After that long run in the Olympics in the summertime and
- 29:29actually played almost every single game this this season
- 29:32says to me that this guys the MVP.
- 29:35But hey, the NBA is not going to decide who wins this series.
- 29:39That's the guy that's going to win the MVP.
- 29:40If they did, I'm going to. I think people are going to be
- 29:43very impressed what Yokich could do because to me his all around
- 29:47game absolutely outmatches what Shy Alexander does.
- 29:50Yeah, also you look at like we were saying with the awards,
- 29:53like the regular season postseason compilation,
- 29:56sometimes we've seen these these vibes be going into the playoffs
- 29:59as MVPS being disrespected. And Yokich definitely dealt with
- 30:02that win. And Bead won the MVP out of
- 30:04nowhere two years ago and when Yokich clearly deserved it.
- 30:07And like you were saying, the MVP is in, they want to do
- 30:10different guys in the NBA has done that for a while.
- 30:13Obviously Dirk getting the MVP over Kobe was the most notable
- 30:15one, but LeBron was definitely robbed of a bunch.
- 30:17You've talked about Michael Jordan being robbed of a bunch.
- 30:19And again, Nicole Yokich is somebody that he already said,
- 30:22like, I don't want any MVP talk being the storyline of the
- 30:25series. These are two very good
- 30:26basketball teams. And he was saying that while he
- 30:28was praising his coach, he was praising the Thunder and and
- 30:31their new coach. And Adelman.
- 30:32There's a reason Brett Siegel, when we had him on the show a
- 30:34few weeks ago, was saying like this was the top assistant coach
- 30:36available. Like he's already made his mark
- 30:38in the playoffs in the first series.
- 30:39Now, obviously it's A7 game series.
- 30:41I'm not saying they're going to jump the gun and say, all right,
- 30:42this is the dominant force they were two years ago, but it's
- 30:44definitely a good start from what they were.
- 30:46And like Yokich was saying, it's a good culture changer that
- 30:49they're. Trying.
- 30:49I don't know if it's a culture change because Adelman, he was
- 30:52the assistant coach of Malone. He was on Malone's bench.
- 30:56So he's running the same offense and running the same defense.
- 30:59But I see a different Nuggets team.
- 31:02They're actually moving the ball up and down the court a lot
- 31:04faster and they're using the aggressiveness of Russell,
- 31:08Russell Westbrook and his speed and his agility to kind of
- 31:12change that offensive style of game that Malone didn't like to
- 31:15run. So that's the only difference.
- 31:17They're playing the same defense, the same rotation.
- 31:20There's nothing different from what Malone was really teaching
- 31:24and really preaching to his team.
- 31:26But it's it's pretty impressive how everybody and and all the
- 31:30players are like, like drooling over this guy and saying that
- 31:34this guy is the perfect fit for this team.
- 31:36We can win a title. There's no reason why we can't
- 31:39be considered the best team in a Western Conference and and
- 31:42obviously be the the face of the Western Conference going into
- 31:46the NBA championship. So it is impressive.
- 31:49There's no question that it is and and by by a rookie coach
- 31:53that's never had a position like this before and then Jokic
- 31:56coming. Out and to do it to do it at the
- 31:58end of the year too, Yeah, but. But let me ask before we move on
- 32:02to the the Round 2 preview of the NBA.
- 32:05Do you? Think like these MVPS, Heisman's
- 32:07and like these end of the year awards.
- 32:10Do you think they should wait till it's done?
- 32:12Because you're awarding A Heisman before they even get
- 32:15through the season. You're awarding an MVP this week
- 32:19and they're not getting through. So you're you're basically just
- 32:22doing it off the regular season, the playoffs.
- 32:24Don't college football I think is different because a lot of
- 32:26those Heisman players are not going to be on teams that are
- 32:29going to be playoff teams automatically and the the
- 32:32college football obviously just expanded the playoffs, but
- 32:35imagine before that like just because.
- 32:36You so but you're telling me he's a Heisman player?
- 32:39Not even on a great team, and not against the best.
- 32:42Yeah, I wouldn't hold that. I wouldn't hold that against him
- 32:45if he's just on a team that he's the guy is dominant, dominant
- 32:48quarterback that doesn't have a defense or like you're just in a
- 32:50better conference with let's say an SEC quarterback that's on the
- 32:53third best SEC team, but it puts up the numbers.
- 32:55See, I think in the pros, I see where you're coming from in the
- 32:57pros though, because it is a little different where usually
- 33:00the MVP besides maybe baseball usually is on one of those teams
- 33:04automatically. In baseball it varies because I
- 33:07think that's more on individual performance.
- 33:08Same kind of thing with Cy Young's, like you saw a team
- 33:10like a guy like Zach Grinke won a Cy Young on a terrible Royals
- 33:13team, stuff like that. But most other sports.
- 33:15Felix Hernandez 1 He was 500. He was 12.
- 33:18And 12. But like in most other sports,
- 33:20yeah, I think there is a team element.
- 33:22So they just have to make it more consistent and change the
- 33:24award mindset permanently if you're going to do that.
- 33:27Otherwise, these arguments are still going to happen.
- 33:29No, absolutely. And then again, going back to
- 33:32the Nuggets, I'm not. I'm not shocked that the Nuggets
- 33:35are heading over there to the second round against OK C And I
- 33:38think both teams have the ability and have the talent to
- 33:43go and move on to the Western Conference and face whoever wins
- 33:46the Golden State Warriors. Timberwolves.
- 33:47Everybody's predicting it's going to be the Timberwolves,
- 33:50but don't be shocked if the Golden State Warriors pull that
- 33:53one out, out of their ass and head on, head on and play
- 33:57against any one of these teams that we're talking about, OK C
- 33:59Thunder or even the Denver Nuggets.
- 34:01So it's going to be fun to watch.
- 34:02Speaking of the round two phenomenon, the Pacers now are
- 34:07facing the Cavaliers in round #2 the Pacers up right now, one to
- 34:12nothing after the Sunday's win. It was a sensational win.
- 34:15I was very shocked that the Pacers won game #1 The Pacers
- 34:18offense is ranked 7th averaging 100 and 17.4 points per game,
- 34:23and their defenses ranked 17th averaging 115.1 points per game.
- 34:29The Cavaliers offense is ranked 1st averaging 121.9 points per
- 34:34game and their defenses ranked 12th, averaging 112.4 points per
- 34:39allowed per game. This is the regular season, so
- 34:42the Pacers and the Cavaliers It's going to come down to who
- 34:46is going to show up in the fourth quarter.
- 34:49Hal Burton played sensational. Is Hal Burton going to be able
- 34:52to keep this up against a very talented Cavaliers team?
- 34:55And by the way, Kenny Atkinson, who we're going to speak about
- 34:58in just a few moments, is one of the more underrated coaches in
- 35:01the NBA. He knows how to take away and
- 35:04take out the best player of every single team.
- 35:07If Hal Burton shows up like he did in game #1 expected in game
- 35:11#2 that he's not going to have as many chances offensively,
- 35:15they're going to force him in positions in places where he's
- 35:18not comfortable shooting. And I expect Hal Burton to have
- 35:21a problem in this series moving forward.
- 35:24I I still think the Cavaliers are the better team.
- 35:26They're the bigger team and they have the better overall roster
- 35:30out of all these out of the Pacers.
- 35:32But the Pacers do have depth. They do get enough points off
- 35:36the bench, which they're very talented that way.
- 35:39And they score a lot of points off the bench and they have a
- 35:40very good coach that's won a championship with the Dallas
- 35:43Mavericks and Rick Carlisle. So I wouldn't be surprised if
- 35:46the Pacers shocked the world. They knock off the Cavaliers,
- 35:49but guess what? The Cavaliers, when was the last
- 35:52time they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals?
- 35:55It was when LeBron James was on this roster, when Kyrie Irving
- 35:58was on this roster and Kevin Love.
- 36:00They haven't been there in such a long time.
- 36:02I don't expect it until it happens.
- 36:05Kenny Atkinson was set up very, very well going into the season
- 36:09with the talent that they have. The question is, is the Spider
- 36:13going to show up in the important parts of the game?
- 36:15That's something that he hasn't done over the years when he
- 36:17played for Utah and now in the last two years get the
- 36:21Cavaliers. As good as he is, there are
- 36:23games that he disappears in. Yeah, you'll also later on in
- 36:26but. Speedy, hold on, Speedy, hold
- 36:27on. I wanna shout out Kevin Love,
- 36:30the loss of his father. We wanna send our love Yeah from
- 36:33this show to him and his family and getting through their grief
- 36:36and loved watching them. Great dude and and just know
- 36:39from from our family to yours, man, we're thinking about you.
- 36:42Absolutely, absolutely. I just want to relay Jamie Lee
- 36:45in the comment section. Cavs are a good balance team and
- 36:47I think that's a big difference from what they were last year
- 36:49where they were very defense reliant and kind of top heavy
- 36:52reliant. They have a little more depth
- 36:54off the bench to be able to rely to, especially on the wings.
- 36:56The other thing that's going to be an X Factor too is that is
- 36:58the size inside for the Pacers. You saw Miles Turner actually
- 37:01look pretty good in the fourth quarter of that game, matched up
- 37:04against Evan Mobley and Jared Allen.
- 37:06And if the Pacers have any shot to win in the series, they're
- 37:09going to have to contend with the size in order to make a
- 37:11difference. And we saw it Even so with the
- 37:14depth last year with the Pacers guys like Andrew Nemhart and TJ
- 37:17McConnell going off against the Knicks the way they did.
- 37:19If they can find anything like that, they can definitely hang
- 37:22tough in the series. I had Cleveland 6 initially.
- 37:24I was surprised Indiana won game one, but they definitely proved
- 37:27a lot. And then we also got Josh in the
- 37:28comments section when Atkinson said he deeply concerned about
- 37:30Garland, Mobley and Hunter injuries.
- 37:32He would be concerned if he's a Cavs fan.
- 37:34And yeah, the Garland did not look good in game #1 and I, I
- 37:37think a lot of Cavs fans are really going after him.
- 37:39Mobley, that's going to be a big match.
- 37:41Up that's going to change. I, I know everybody's sitting
- 37:43here and they're going to say, well, Garland didn't have a good
- 37:45game #1 and I, I, I agree with you, Josh.
- 37:48I, I do believe that a lot of these players have to show up in
- 37:50the important parts of the game. Garland last year in the
- 37:53playoffs. They'll make adjustments for
- 37:55sure. Well, Kenny Atkinson's a great
- 37:56coach, so they better if they expect to win.
- 37:59The problem is the problem right now is are these players going
- 38:03to show up in the important parts of these games?
- 38:05And I, I still believe they have the best player in this series.
- 38:09I still believe that the Spider is the best player in this in
- 38:12this series. If he shows up and he gives you
- 38:1430 points and Garland gives you 20 or 18 points and they're
- 38:18getting enough defense, you know, and rebounds.
- 38:20This is one of the best offensive rebounding teams in
- 38:23the whole NBA. They're great defensive team
- 38:25too. So Kenny Atkinson preaches
- 38:28defense. That's what he preaches.
- 38:29And good guard play. Kenny Atkinson is the guard
- 38:32guru. Anybody that knows Kenny
- 38:34Atkinson what he's done with the Knicks?
- 38:36Jeremy Lynn airs. Jeremy, ask Steph Curry what
- 38:39Kenny Atkinson did in the second part of his career.
- 38:41He is a great, very well respected coach when it comes to
- 38:45the point guard position. Knicks and Celtics in the second
- 38:49round, the Knicks offense is ranked 9th averaging 115 points,
- 38:54150 points per GameStop with the point eights and their defense
- 38:58is 9th averaging 111 points per allowed per game.
- 39:03The Celtics offense is ranked 8th averaging 116 points per
- 39:06game and their defense second, averaging only 107 points
- 39:11allowed per game. The Celtics are the better team.
- 39:15They're the better overall team. There's no question that they
- 39:18are. They're benched or getting bench
- 39:20play from all different guys. You're saying they're getting at
- 39:23least there's two guys off their bench that are giving you
- 39:27between 10 to 15 points. If that happens, the Knicks are
- 39:31going to have to get that from McBride.
- 39:33They're going to have to get that from Heart.
- 39:34I think the Knicks in this series have to start hard off
- 39:38the bench. We have been arguing that I, I
- 39:40know me and Fish have argued and and spoke about this off air.
- 39:44They need to get offense and they needed more more in this
- 39:49series than they ever did because if they plan to win this
- 39:52series, they're going to have to get something from their bench
- 39:55and they got to play more off their bench.
- 39:57Maybe I, I know Josh has been saying this White Wright should
- 40:01play in this, in this series. Delaney Wright.
- 40:03He's taking over. When, when, when I'm sorry,
- 40:06Jalen Brunson fell and he got hurt and he he was out for a
- 40:09significant amount of time. They weren't getting enough
- 40:11point guard play. They bring in Delaney White and
- 40:13he was much better. Than what McBride was giving you
- 40:16and McBride, let's be honest, he's not very good in the
- 40:19important part, important parts of the game.
- 40:22And and the guy who's defensive savvy, he hasn't been very good
- 40:26defensively against Detroit either.
- 40:28So they need to get more a charisma and more defense and
- 40:33offense off the bench. If there's no charisma on this
- 40:35team either, you have you got guys like Karl Anthony Towns
- 40:39complaining and arguing during the games because his team's
- 40:43putting him not in the right position to get the ball.
- 40:45You saw it early in this game when Hart was trying to pass in
- 40:48the ball in the first in the first quarter of the game.
- 40:51So you have to get more in your rotation.
- 40:54You're going to have to see more from Mikhail Bridges.
- 40:57I think Mikhail Bridges is going to play a big factor in this in
- 40:59this series. You're going to have to defend
- 41:01him and put him on Jaylen Brown or put him on a guy like Jayson
- 41:05Tatum. And then you have OG and Anobi,
- 41:07who has played sensational. I think he was the best player
- 41:10besides Jaylen Bronson in in the first series against Detroit.
- 41:13You're going to need more of OG. OG is going to have to be a
- 41:16dominant defender if they if they plan to take this to A7
- 41:20game series and that's the only way the Knicks are going to win
- 41:23this series. They're going to have to take
- 41:24this long and they're going to have to put Jason Tatum in a
- 41:28position where he's uncomfortable.
- 41:29Jason Tatum when he's uncomfortable and we've seen it
- 41:32with Jimmy buckets when he's uncomfortable, he's not the same
- 41:34player. He forces up shots and he's not
- 41:37comfortable shooting the three pointer and then he gets he
- 41:40tries to shoot those 1718 foot jumpers and that's not what he
- 41:43is good at. He's good at on the outside, his
- 41:45jump shot and and where he likes to position himself.
- 41:48And he's a very good defensive player.
- 41:50And they also need to have more Robertson in this series.
- 41:54Robertson needs to defend against Porzingis.
- 41:57If Porzingis breaks, breaks out and breaks out and gets loose in
- 42:02this series, if Porzingis gives 20, gives you 20 to 25 points,
- 42:06the Knicks don't stand a chance because you know Brown's going
- 42:09to get between 20 and 23 points in some games, might even get
- 42:1330. And then you have Tatum that's
- 42:15going to probably get 27 to 28 and sometimes 30 points in a
- 42:19game if you have porzing is giving you 20 to 25 points.
- 42:23There's no way you win this series.
- 42:25And Carl Anthony Towns needs to wake the effing up.
- 42:29I I don't understand Karl Anthony Towns.
- 42:32This guy, he's a great player when he wants to be and he
- 42:35disappears when he doesn't know where he is.
- 42:38And he needs to understand you're playing for New York.
- 42:40You're not playing for the Timberwolves anymore.
- 42:42You're not the second superstar. You're you're, you could be the
- 42:46superstar besides Jaylen Bronson.
- 42:48I know Nick fans think that Jaylen Bronson is as important
- 42:50as anybody on this team. Karl Anthony Towns is just as
- 42:54important as Jaylen Bronson. Now Jaylen Bronson's the better
- 42:57player. He's the captain, he's the go to
- 42:59guy, but you need Karl Anthony Towns to give you 20 to 25
- 43:03points a game, give you 10 rebounds and play some kind of
- 43:06liquor defense, which he hasn't done in Detroit and I don't
- 43:09expect him to do this do that against this Celtic team.
- 43:12That's a great offensive and and very well run offensive machine.
- 43:16Yeah, it's also the wing depth that the Celtics have.
- 43:19This is what you built for if you're the Knicks when you're at
- 43:22going through these offseason decisions that they did, giving
- 43:24OG on an OB, the 40 million a year that they gave him, they
- 43:26traded for Mikhail Bridges. And yet this perimeter defense
- 43:29still doesn't look as good as we did last year.
- 43:31And look at the series with the Pistons, like all these random
- 43:34old guys that were shooting threes like crazy.
- 43:36I know Kate Cunningham played a great game, but I think a lot of
- 43:38the reason the Pistons were more in those games were these random
- 43:41old guys, Dennis Schroeder, Tobias Harris shooting that they
- 43:43can't allow that against the Celtics that have a lot more
- 43:45shooting prowess. There's a reason the Celtics
- 43:47averaged all those threes per game like they did in the
- 43:49beginning of the season. We were talking about Fish where
- 43:51they're average shooting like 51 threes a game at one point.
- 43:54They've done it down from that, but it's still a prowess that's
- 43:57there. And yes, Towns defensively is
- 43:58definitely concerning if you have to either switch Porzingis
- 44:01on him or even Tatum. Like Tom, Thibodeau has to get
- 44:04more creative and less stubborn when it comes to his defensive
- 44:06sets too. Because this is what you pride
- 44:08yourself on if you're a coach like Thibodeau.
- 44:11Well, yeah, and I think too, it's like you see what the guys
- 44:15in the depth that that both teams have realistically, but on
- 44:20the depth side of it is who's going to step up because, yeah,
- 44:22you've Got Talent on both sides of the fence.
- 44:25Jalen can't hold the Ford up forever and you know, like we've
- 44:30talked about before, Fish and, and on the show is like Cat
- 44:33getting in foul trouble and then, you know, then you lose
- 44:36him. He's only played 9 minutes this
- 44:38game. And so it's just how they're
- 44:41going to rotate and use the depth.
- 44:43And if those guys that they created depth with are going to
- 44:46step up to be able to do that and is he going to be able to
- 44:49play defense against these guys? I I wasn't surprised that what
- 44:54is, it's kind of transpired here, but it's going to be
- 44:57interesting to see if who out coaches who and who steps up
- 45:02from the depth side on each team.
- 45:04It's been a rock and a hard place all season with the Knicks
- 45:07defense. There's a reason why they
- 45:09haven't been able to get above middling in their defensive
- 45:12rating all year. It's because Karl Anthony Towns
- 45:16is a slow footed defender. That's that's the long and short
- 45:19of it. And teams are exposing him as
- 45:22you get deeper into this playoff run and there's no one better at
- 45:24exposing him than the Celtics right now.
- 45:27He can't keep up with their rotations.
- 45:30He's getting fouls because he's out of position because he's
- 45:33trying, but he's making mistakes that you make as like a third
- 45:36year, fourth year player. This has been his problem all
- 45:39along. Now, you try to hide those types
- 45:42of problems, Errol, like you said, with changing up the
- 45:46defense, if he can't play that style, and we're finding out
- 45:51that the style that Tibbs wants to play, and it's probably why
- 45:55he used to drive them crazy when they were together in Minnesota,
- 45:58doesn't work with Karl Anthony Towns.
- 46:00He can't drop to the lane that way.
- 46:03If he's playing out on the perimeter, he can't get back.
- 46:06He doesn't rotate around well, he's getting in foul trouble.
- 46:09He's useless to us right now. You could say he's the second,
- 46:12you know, maybe more important to our US winning than Jaylen
- 46:16Brunson because without him playing at a real level, they're
- 46:19not going to to win. They're getting run out the
- 46:21court right now. They're down 16 at halftime and
- 46:24it's because they have no presence inside.
- 46:26They're just every rebound. You know, Jalen Brunson gets
- 46:28caught underneath with Jalen Brown on him.
- 46:30And it's just like you're playing in the schoolyard, just
- 46:33a guy 7 inches taller than him. There's nothing you can do about
- 46:35it. This is what's going on.
- 46:37They're not good enough to beat them.
- 46:39Look, Jalen Bronson might steal a game and you know, at home,
- 46:42like they always say, bench doesn't travel.
- 46:44The the Knicks only have a couple of bench guys.
- 46:46You like to think campaign can come up with a hot, hot streak
- 46:49at home. That's what he's.
- 46:50That's why they. Where's Landry Shamit?
- 46:52That was the hot streak. Shamit, one of those guys
- 46:55doesn't matter, but I think they'll take two games.
- 46:58I don't think they're going to be competitive in the other four
- 47:01that they lose, including game one.
- 47:03Right now it's unless something changes drastically with Karl
- 47:06Anthony Towns because it's it looks worse than what we saw
- 47:10with Julian. And and again, going back to
- 47:12Karl Anthony Towns, is he right for this team?
- 47:14Do the Knicks in the offseason if they get blown out in this
- 47:17series? Do the Knicks say, you know
- 47:18what? Karl Anthony Towns isn't the
- 47:19guy? Maybe we go FD honest.
- 47:21We were we were speaking about this on Josh's show game on.
- 47:25Maybe that's the route the the the Knicks go.
- 47:28I, I think there's, there's a lot of, there's a lot of
- 47:30questions to where the Knicks are and what they are when it
- 47:33comes to their identity. If Jalen Brunson, we, we said
- 47:36this about Carmelo Anthony over the years they've had, they've
- 47:39had good teams over the years. At one point they had
- 47:41Stoudelmeyer. He wasn't the same Stoudelmeyer
- 47:43he was with Phoenix, but he was a good player and they had a
- 47:46pretty good roster and they got cut.
- 47:49They got cut out by the Indiana Pacers because the Indiana
- 47:53Pacers had a big man that the Knicks couldn't match up
- 47:55against. And that goes to this series.
- 47:58The Knicks have the bigs and now they're playing the bigs.
- 48:01But you have guys like Robertson who has not played really all
- 48:05season long. He's cold.
- 48:06You see him, he's not set up right.
- 48:08He's he's, he looks like a deer in the headlights.
- 48:11And then you have guys like Karl Anthony Towns who has the
- 48:13ability to take over games offensively, but then if he gets
- 48:17pushed around or shoved, he's not the same player.
- 48:20He can't take the pressure. So I that's something that the
- 48:23Knicks are going to have to figure out speaking on the next
- 48:25series, the Warriors and the Timberwolves.
- 48:27We were just speaking about it and I and I, I think people
- 48:29understand this series. It's pretty simple.
- 48:31If Anthony Edwards gets hot in his series, I expect the Anthony
- 48:35Edwards and, and tamp the Timberwolves to roll right over
- 48:39a Golden State Warriors team that's old.
- 48:41But if Steph Curry and obviously a guy like Jimmy Buckets can
- 48:46take over games and be the veteran players that they are
- 48:49and get some secondary scoring off the bench like they did in
- 48:52the other series against the Rockets, a young Rockets team.
- 48:56I, I think that the Warriors can shock the world and and knock
- 48:59off the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves.
- 49:01This might be the closest chance to the Timberwolves going all
- 49:04the way to the finals. This might be the easiest way
- 49:07for the Timberwolves to go to the NBA Finals.
- 49:09The Warriors are an older team and they're going to have to go
- 49:12through either OK C and the Nuggets.
- 49:14They beat the Nuggets last year. They matched up very well
- 49:17against the Nuggets and they had Karl Anthony Towns that did
- 49:19nothing in that series. And then you have obviously a
- 49:23young team like OK C that has has fallen apart in the
- 49:26playoffs. They don't show up in the big
- 49:28parts of certain in games and shy.
- 49:30They depend too much on shy Alexander's offense.
- 49:33I I still think the Nuggets are the championship team.
- 49:36They've done it before. I wouldn't see surprised be
- 49:38surprised if they knock off the OKC Thunder.
- 49:41But I'm going to tell you this right now, the Timberwolves are
- 49:44the better team. They have the better player.
- 49:46He is the best player in this series even over Steph Curry,
- 49:49even over Jimmy Buckets. This guy, when he plays at the
- 49:52top of his game, there might not be anybody in the NBA as is
- 49:56electrifying as this man. So to me, the Timberwolves
- 50:00winning 6, maybe 7. But there, there's no doubt in
- 50:04my mind the Golden State Warriors could shock the world.
- 50:06Yeah, I also look at the perimeter defense.
- 50:07Minnesota's how they've been very good at that for the last
- 50:10three years and their size is another one that's going to be a
- 50:12very hard thing for Golden State.
- 50:13They have to be able to adjust to that because Jimmy Butler, as
- 50:16good as he is defensively, he's only can only do so much.
- 50:18And again, how healthy he is going on in the series.
- 50:22Anthony Edwards has proven his adversity.
- 50:24We weren't sure with all the random comments he was making
- 50:26throughout the year, but I think he's definitely owned that and I
- 50:29think they're coaching. Chris Finch has done a very good
- 50:31job managing that depth a lot better.
- 50:33So I have the Timberwolves in six.
- 50:34I'm kind of thinking the same way as you and the Nuggets in
- 50:36OKC. This will be a definitely a test
- 50:38for the Nuggets bench to try to get going somehow because they
- 50:41like the Knicks. They've been really down and
- 50:42bench scoring from what they were supposed to be at the
- 50:44beginning of the year. The MVP battle will be
- 50:46interesting. The battle inside especially
- 50:48will be interesting with Chet Holmgren as well and Jalen
- 50:50Williams against those Nuggets, obviously with Jokic and Aaron
- 50:54Gordon. So I think that's going to
- 50:55define the series. But again, if somebody like
- 50:57Russell Westbrook step up against former team, this could
- 50:59be different. Yeah, I, I think this one is
- 51:03really, really interesting just from the dynamic aspect of like
- 51:07certain things and Chet Holmgren in in matching up and and trying
- 51:14to bang with those guys inside. I think it is going to be a
- 51:17little bit of battle and you're going to be.
- 51:19And Russ, Russ is a winner. He knows how to win.
- 51:22He knows what it takes and he knows he's not necessarily the
- 51:27dude, but if he needs to take over in certain aspects, he
- 51:30will. And I just, I think this is
- 51:33going to be a very interesting series just because of the
- 51:36dynamics that both teams create. And I'd, I wouldn't be surprised
- 51:43if if you see more of like that 37 year old Steph Curry, like be
- 51:49the leader and like do these things where it's like, hey, I
- 51:53may not drop 35, but like you said, I'm going to go get, you
- 51:57know, 22, eight and eight. And now it's like, OK.
- 52:02And then you just do that. So I just really think this is
- 52:04going to be a fun one from all the dynamical perspectives of
- 52:09how the teams either match up, don't match up and how how they
- 52:14kind of play chess with each other instead of playing
- 52:17checkers and see how they go. So I'm really excited about this
- 52:20one. I got just one thought on each
- 52:22series, guys, and then we'll wrap it up.
- 52:24First one, they threw Amen Thompson, one of the best young
- 52:27defenders in the world at Steph and an extra guy every single
- 52:31time down the court. And then Steph played all world
- 52:34defense after being doubled, bringing up the ball every time
- 52:37at age 37. That's one of the most
- 52:40impressive things anyone's done in a Game 7.
- 52:42Leading his team, getting Buddy Hield open on a bunch of those
- 52:45shots, including one where he did it behind the head, which
- 52:47was awesome. Nice highlight.
- 52:49One the Minnesota has great defenders.
- 52:52McDaniels is a great defender. Anthony Edwards is going to play
- 52:56great defense on him whenever he's against them.
- 52:58Can Steph do it? And The thing is, Anthony
- 53:00Edwards just dispatched LeBron. Can he dispatch both old time
- 53:05greats in there and at the end towards the end of their career
- 53:08in the same playoffs? That would be really impressive
- 53:12and I'm expecting Yokich to have one of the best.
- 53:14Serials. He doesn't want to be the face
- 53:15of the NBA. So that's all I'm going to say
- 53:17about to Anthony Edwards. As far as I'm concerned, he.
- 53:20Had a lot to say after last series.
- 53:22He has a lot to say about every series he has a lot to say
- 53:25about. Himself, but that but that's the
- 53:27thing, Earl like that. What what doesn't get me too and
- 53:30fish and you said it too. It's like he doesn't want to be
- 53:32the face, but he has a he has a lot of stuff to say.
- 53:35So is are you trying to play that game or like you just don't
- 53:40want to have that label or like what is it?
- 53:43Because you have a lot to say about the league and about what
- 53:45happens. And he's not shy away from, you
- 53:48know, press conferences, all the other stuff, being in
- 53:52commercials and doing all this. So do you just not want the
- 53:55lady? But you're going to do all this
- 53:57stuff? Did you see?
- 53:58Him throw football the other day.
- 53:59I mean, he's got a pretty good arm.
- 54:01I, I mean, some people say he could have played professional
- 54:03football as a wide receiver. So I, I, he's very impressive,
- 54:07his athletic ability and everything about who he is as a
- 54:10player on a basketball court. But the question is, could he,
- 54:13could he do what he does on a basketball court and shut his
- 54:16mouth, which he hasn't done his whole career.
- 54:19So that's something that has been a big problem.
- 54:21All good. I mean, think about all the good
- 54:24basketball players, dude. Michael Jordan.
- 54:27Michael Michael Jordan never opened his mouth.
- 54:30He only did it on the basketball court.
- 54:31But after the game, Michael Jordan didn't go out there.
- 54:34So I'm the best, I'm the best. I'm a high flying superstar and
- 54:38nobody can touch me. I'm the one who brought all
- 54:40these big shoe deals. I'm the one who's
- 54:42internationally great. He didn't go out there, but then
- 54:45you have this guy. But this guy comes out there and
- 54:48says he calls us out the truth. No, that's not answered.
- 54:51The. Question.
- 54:52At least he's not doing a Instagram account like Kevin
- 54:56Durant. At least he's being himself.
- 54:58Speaking, Speaking of the Nuggets in the Thunder series
- 55:01and quickly I'll I'll say this. This is going to be a very fun
- 55:04series because you have the 2 MVP candidates of the league
- 55:08facing off from one from one another.
- 55:10And I expect this to be so fun to watch because I expect both
- 55:14players to take over in certain parts of this series and be the
- 55:18superstars that we know them to be.
- 55:20I just think Jokic and who he is and what he's all about and what
- 55:23he stands for as a player. I just think there's something
- 55:26special about this guy that we haven't seen in a player of this
- 55:30magnitude since Tim Duncan. Now, he is not the same player
- 55:33as Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan understood how to
- 55:37win. He understand how to took take
- 55:39things on his shoulders defensively, be the anchor of
- 55:41his defense and then also do the things that you expect him to do
- 55:45against the top talent of, you know, of the NBA when he based
- 55:49off against them. I expect the same from Yokich.
- 55:52As good as shy Alexander is as good as the OKC Thunder has been
- 55:56all season long and how young they are.
- 55:58I I just think that Nicole Yokich expected to win multiple
- 56:02championships and now he's 31 years old and he's only won one
- 56:06and he's won a ton of MVPS. He always came out and I'll say
- 56:09this one thing about Yokich. He came out and everybody.
- 56:12I, I remember the last interview, one big interview
- 56:15that I, I watched on YouTube and it, and somebody asked them what
- 56:19would you rather win 5 MVPS and be considered one of the
- 56:23greatest big men in NBA history or win 5 championships and he
- 56:26says, are you out of your mind? I would rather win 5
- 56:29championships and not even be thought as one of the biggest
- 56:32big men in NBA history. That says a lot about who he is
- 56:36and the, the type of teammate he is and what he stands or stands
- 56:39for for his team as a leader. That to me is why I think Nicole
- 56:43Yokich plays a big, not only a big factor of what his team's
- 56:46going to do, but his big a big factor of his team's success and
- 56:50moving on after into this series.
- 56:52So I, I think I'm going to take the I'm going to take the
- 56:56Nuggets to win this series. I think the Nuggets win in seven
- 56:59because Nikola Yokich is the best player in the NBA.
- 57:05I did that's I speedy. Are you lost?
- 57:08I don't know if are you I don't know if thinking about
- 57:10something. I got the Nuggets in six.
- 57:13I just think with, and I, I was listening to a couple guys, SGA
- 57:18should have won the MVP last year and blah, blah, blah.
- 57:21And I'm just like, and now it's like, yeah, he's having a great
- 57:24year, but Joker's obviously won and Errol, I think like
- 57:29obviously we're, we're not in the boardrooms and whatever the
- 57:32NBA is. But I think I, I agree with you
- 57:35because it's like they don't want the same guy to win.
- 57:37But even if you give it to him, you can't argue the fact that he
- 57:42is not an MVP caliber player. Like you can't, it's not like,
- 57:46oh, we just give it to him because he's already won two or
- 57:49three or 4. But I think he just, he does.
- 57:53I think he does so much more than SGASGA is an incredible
- 57:57athlete. Oh, he's a great defender, too.
- 57:59He's one of the best moderated. Yeah, and that's what that
- 58:01position. But yeah, he is.
- 58:02He doesn't pass like Joker. No he doesn't.
- 58:05I mean, there are just certain things.
- 58:07He doesn't make that. He doesn't make the whole.
- 58:09He doesn't. He's a great overall player
- 58:11defensively, in offense. He doesn't make everybody around
- 58:14him better. He is.
- 58:15And I think, I think too, as a fat kid, I think I just, it
- 58:19helps me because I'm like, man, this dude is AG and he's doing
- 58:23things and he's not shredded. He doesn't talk about his
- 58:25private chef and work it out. He doesn't have.
- 58:30To go in the ball. Out he's got, he's got his two
- 58:32brothers, his two, like, you know, his guardian Angel over
- 58:35there. First of all, I you know they
- 58:37beat the hell out of you if you open your damn mouth.
- 58:40Job in the mouth will never have no negative toward the Yokich
- 58:44family because I don't want I don't want that smoke.
- 58:47Don't want it. Wow, don't want it.
- 58:49I don't want any smoke and I don't want to go to his country.
- 58:51And be smoking like taken type gangsters.
- 58:53Oh yeah, I'm good. Hey love you love every single
- 58:56one of y'all rude for you. Hope you win.
- 59:00I think it's just. Yeah, I just think Joker's.
- 59:02I think Joker's the MVP, but I don't think he's going to get
- 59:04it. I think he's.
- 59:05But this series will be really fun because I think.
- 59:07Best series? That is best series.
- 59:10That is the conversation that's going to be had where I think it
- 59:13might, it might sway someone way or the other, but it's already
- 59:17going to be distinguished. Who's the MVP face?
- 59:20It's announced tomorrow, right? Yes.
- 59:23It should be. I don't know if it's tomorrow,
- 59:25but it's this week. They did all the other awards.
- 59:27Yeah. Well, yes, yes.
- 59:29Speaking of which, we have our golf clap of the day.
- 59:34This deserves a golf clap, no doubt.
- 59:37Golf clap. Golf clap, ladies and gentlemen,
- 59:41My golf clap of the day goes to Kenny Atkinson and what Kenny
- 59:44Atkinson did for the Cavaliers this year.
- 59:46Winning coach of the year, he wanted today and congratulations
- 59:49to Kenny Atkinson. What he did is he changed
- 59:52everybody's view on what the Cavaliers were last year.
- 59:55The Cavaliers absolutely choked in the playoffs last year, and
- 59:59who do they choke against? The New York Knicks this come
- 1:00:02this year with a new coach and a completely different thought and
- 1:00:06process. This team was the best team in
- 1:00:09the NBA all season long. At one point they won 14 games
- 1:00:13or 15 games in a row. They were unstoppable and they
- 1:00:16were pretty much unstoppable all season long.
- 1:00:18They were practically unbeatable and defensively they were
- 1:00:22getting offense from different players that you never even
- 1:00:24heard of. Their bench was one of the best
- 1:00:26benches in the league. They were what they were
- 1:00:28overall, the best overall overall team defensive team in
- 1:00:32in all of the NBA. They were sensational to watch.
- 1:00:35There was nothing, nothing bad to say.
- 1:00:37And and by the way, Spider became a different player this
- 1:00:40year as not just as an offensive player, as a team leader.
- 1:00:44Who would have thought that he would have transitioned his game
- 1:00:47and his prowess to leadership when he came from Utah, there
- 1:00:51were complaints that he wasn't a leader that he couldn't get
- 1:00:54along with players on that team. And that's why Utah couldn't
- 1:00:57hold both these guys on a team. And eventually the two
- 1:01:00superstars we're pushed out. One went to the Timberwolves,
- 1:01:02the other one obviously went to the Cavaliers.
- 1:01:05So I it's, it's incredible what Kenny Atkinson has done for this
- 1:01:09team And, and really the the development of some of these
- 1:01:12players. Garland is a different player.
- 1:01:14Darius Garland is become a better point guard and a better
- 1:01:17guard in this league because of Kenny Atkinson.
- 1:01:20So my golf clap of the day goes to the coach of the year, Kenny
- 1:01:24Atkinson. Fantastic season for Kenny
- 1:01:28Atkinson in the Cavaliers and I absolutely adore Kenny Atkinson.
- 1:01:31I wish he was the New York Knicks head coach.
- 1:01:35I not no offense to Tom Thibodeau, he hasn't done
- 1:01:37anything and Kenny Atkinson probably would have changed our
- 1:01:40thoughts of maybe the Knicks get the number one seed in the
- 1:01:44Eastern Conference and play team defense better than what Tom
- 1:01:48Thibodeau has preached all season long.
- 1:01:49Anyways, that's it for our show. Thank you to all the fans.
- 1:01:52Thank you to everybody tuning in on social medias from TikTok to

- 1:02:26We will make it announcement in the next couple of days and you
- 1:02:29guys will know what we're talking about.
- 1:02:31So thank you and thank you to all all you guys for the show
- 1:02:35wouldn't be as good as it is if it wasn't for all the guys
- 1:02:39putting in the work and the time and the effort into it.
- 1:02:41So thank you to all the guys. We will be back on Thursday.
- 1:02:44Speedy, who do we have on the show?
- 1:02:45All right, returning to the show, I believe Jabba, this was
- 1:02:47the first ex football player when you were when you first
- 1:02:49joined us that we had on the show.
- 1:02:51Returning the show, former Carolina Panthers cornerback CJ
- 1:02:53Wilson will be back on our show. That's right, the old.
- 1:02:57By the way, CJ Wilson was great on the show, got a great
- 1:03:01personality. He knows how to have a little
- 1:03:03bit of fun. I I want to.
- 1:03:05Did you talk to Riley yet? Yeah, Riley Leonard will
- 1:03:08probably be on either next week or the week after.
- 1:03:10He's been busy celebrating his draft and he's getting ready.
- 1:03:14He's been going to rookie camps. He's already at the rookie camps
- 1:03:17right now and Indianapolis throwing the ball.
- 1:03:20So I I think Riley Leonard has a very good chance of winning that
- 1:03:23job in the next couple of years. He just needs to develop.
- 1:03:26And why not Indianapolis? He's the perfect fit.
- 1:03:29You have Daniel, you have Daniel Jones there who plays kind of
- 1:03:32this. They're both Duke guys, so it's
- 1:03:35crazy. Carl, you're stupid.
- 1:03:39Yeah, right. Yeah, he'll definitely.
- 1:03:42Be in the cornfields, that's for sure.
- 1:03:44Vote. Let.
- 1:03:44It distract him from his previous comment official.
- 1:03:46Be ready to give Goody a geography quiz at some point.
- 1:03:48You guys are idiots. You really are jackasses.
- 1:03:51Anyways, that's it for our show. We'll be back, as you know, on
- 1:03:55Thursday. Until then, this is our show,
- 1:03:58jabbing them out, saying goodnight.
- 1:03:59We'll talk to you on Thursday. Goodnight, everybody.
- 1:04:01It. Is the worldwide Ford Radio
- 1:04:05Network.
