- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one tackler,
- 0:10Speaker 2: gets inside the forty down of the thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the goal line, he throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the m zone.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching
- 0:23Speaker 1: the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 2: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 2: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:30Speaker 2: this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Chovie.
- 0:35Speaker 3: The formula is simple. Seahawks gotta win, Green Bay's gotta lose,
- 0:40Speaker 3: and the Seahawks we be back in the playoffs for
- 0:42Speaker 3: the second consecutive year. Welcome into another edition of Hawk
- 0:46Speaker 3: Talk as the Seahawks getting ready to take on the
- 0:48Speaker 3: Arizona Cardinals, hoping to rebound from a tough loss at
- 0:51Speaker 3: home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like I said, the formula
- 0:54Speaker 3: is very simple, but this is a team in the
- 0:57Speaker 3: Arizona Cardinals, that is no joke, playing a really good
- 1:00Speaker 3: football the last couple of weeks.
- 1:02Speaker 4: So let's waste no more time. Let's get right into it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: What's on tap?
- 1:08Speaker 1: What's on tap?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Don't be filled by the record, Bump, four and twelve,
- 1:14Speaker 3: last place in the NFC West. But these guys were
- 1:17Speaker 3: playing some decent ball who won two of their last
- 1:19Speaker 3: four games. Things started off brutal for him, man, I
- 1:21Speaker 3: mean they started off two and ten with a lot
- 1:24Speaker 3: of brutal.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Loss in there.
- 1:25Speaker 3: They did beat the Cowboys one of those games, and
- 1:27Speaker 3: then Kyler Murray eventually came back. But they they beat
- 1:31Speaker 3: the Steelers team Sehawks just lost too. They lost to
- 1:34Speaker 3: the forty nine Ers somewhat competitively. They lost to the Bears,
- 1:37Speaker 3: who were hoping the Bears can be solved this week,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and they went down to Philly and beat the Eagles. So, Bump,
- 1:42Speaker 3: tell me about what's going on in Arizona. Jonathan Gannon
- 1:44Speaker 3: looked like he's trying to turn things around there. And
- 1:47Speaker 3: after that two and ten start.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah, Well, Cardinals went down to the Eagles and they
- 1:52Speaker 5: looked like it was going to be a route in
- 1:54Speaker 5: the first half man for the home team. Eagles led
- 1:56Speaker 5: twenty one to six at halftime, but Kyler Murray and
- 2:00Speaker 5: the Cardinals man they would not go down easy. The
- 2:03Speaker 5: Cardinals score touchdowns on all four of their second half possessions,
- 2:06Speaker 5: including the game winning seventh place seventy yard drive any
- 2:10Speaker 5: with a James Connor running touchdown from two yards out.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Connor's plays we go football right now.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Kyler was He was a fishing twenty one to thirty one,
- 2:17Speaker 5: three touchdowns, one interception. Connor ran for one hundred and
- 2:20Speaker 5: twenty eight yards on twenty six carries in one touchdown.
- 2:22Speaker 5: He had one receiving touchdowns well and Greg dortche Man.
- 2:25Speaker 5: He led all receivers with eighty two yards and seven receptions.
- 2:29Speaker 5: On the other side, the Eagles, Jalen Hurst was eighteen
- 2:31Speaker 5: to twenty three for one sixty seven and three touchdowns,
- 2:34Speaker 5: one interception. His interception on the last play of the
- 2:37Speaker 5: game on a hell Mary attempt. It was picked off
- 2:39Speaker 5: by our former safety Joey Blum.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Thigobs. Virginia A. J.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Brown had a quiet day fifty three yards and four
- 2:46Speaker 5: receptions and the Eagles have now lost four of their
- 2:49Speaker 5: last five. They are slipping towards the end of the season,
- 2:53Speaker 5: and gave the Cardinals some.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Liquid courage.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I want to say, back in our day, we would
- 2:59Speaker 5: call it, but it's it's called football courage.
- 3:01Speaker 6: They playing some good ball, man. This is a good
- 3:03Speaker 6: football team right now.
- 3:04Speaker 4: It is a good football team right now. And just
- 3:06Speaker 4: one thing on the Eagles.
- 3:08Speaker 3: They made a change at defensive coordinator, our guy Seanna
- 3:11Speaker 3: Sai who was out in Seattle for a year, and
- 3:13Speaker 3: they switch up to play calling duties to Matt Patricia
- 3:16Speaker 3: and then they still gave up thirty five points. Right,
- 3:19Speaker 3: I'm just saying. I'm just saying it. I don't think
- 3:22Speaker 3: it's a sign. I just want to throw that out there,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know what I mean. But no, these Cardinals, man, Bump,
- 3:26Speaker 3: they are playing really well. And when you look at
- 3:28Speaker 3: this head to head comparison, they do some things. There's
- 3:32Speaker 3: a lot of similarities between the teams and where they
- 3:35Speaker 3: rank offensively and defensively. But what jumps out to me,
- 3:38Speaker 3: Bump right now for the Cardinals is they can run
- 3:40Speaker 3: the rock. They're six in the NFL rushing, averaging one
- 3:43Speaker 3: hundred and thirty four yards per game. The Seahawks are
- 3:46Speaker 3: twenty ninth in the NFL, averaging just ninety yards per game.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So that's definitely think we're going to keep an eye
- 3:50Speaker 3: on terms of overall offense, the Cardinals are twenty fourth
- 3:54Speaker 3: in the league, averaging three hundred and fifteen yards per game.
- 3:56Speaker 3: The Seahawks are twentieth, averaging three hundred and twenty two
- 3:59Speaker 3: yards per game.
- 4:00Speaker 4: When it comes to passing offenses.
- 4:02Speaker 3: With the Cardinals struggle at they are twenty ninth in
- 4:04Speaker 3: the league, averaging one hundred and eighty yards per game.
- 4:07Speaker 3: The Seahawks, minds, you're a little bit more middle of
- 4:09Speaker 3: the pack. They are fourteenth in the league, averaging two
- 4:11Speaker 3: hundred and thirty two yards per game. When it comes
- 4:14Speaker 3: to points per game on offense, Seahawks averaging twenty one points.
- 4:17Speaker 3: That's tied for seventeenth in the league, and the Cardinals
- 4:19Speaker 3: just behind them at nineteen point four per game. That's
- 4:22Speaker 3: good for twenty fourth in the league. So very similar Offensively,
- 4:25Speaker 3: the Seahawks a little bit better in most categories, But
- 4:28Speaker 3: what really jumps out is how they are able to
- 4:30Speaker 3: run the rocks. We'll definitely get into their running game
- 4:33Speaker 3: and James Connor a little bit later, but that's what
- 4:35Speaker 3: scares me number one about these Cardinals.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Bump yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Man.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Defensively, we're in the same boat twenty seventh overall for
- 4:43Speaker 5: the Seahawks, twenty sixth overall for the Cardinals. Rush defensive
- 4:47Speaker 5: Hawks are thirtieth, Cardinals are thirty second. Pass defense, the
- 4:50Speaker 5: Hawks are nineteenth, The Cardinals are thirteenth.
- 4:53Speaker 6: Points allowed per game.
- 4:54Speaker 5: The Hawks are twenty fourth and the Cardinals are thirty first.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Time of possession is about the same twenty six minutes
- 5:00Speaker 5: per game to twenty eight for the Cardinals.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Look at sacks thirty eight times.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Gino Smith has been Andrew Throwd doing there and the
- 5:08Speaker 5: Cardinals qbs have been sacked forty one times.
- 5:10Speaker 6: But the Hawks get after the quarterback a bit more.
- 5:12Speaker 5: They got forty six sacks, so they're thirty three and
- 5:15Speaker 5: both have eleven interceptions a piece, So on paper, teams
- 5:20Speaker 5: are about the same. Which right man, Kyler Murray is back.
- 5:23Speaker 5: James Connor had a good game, so you guess the
- 5:27Speaker 5: things to do.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Yeah, the Cardinals.
- 5:30Speaker 3: If you think for a second the Seahawks are overlooking
- 5:32Speaker 3: the team, you're crazy because they're not only playing good football.
- 5:36Speaker 3: But the Seahawks are in a position where it doesn't
- 5:37Speaker 3: matter what your records say. It's all about winning the game.
- 5:40Speaker 3: So that's what they got to focus on coming into
- 5:43Speaker 3: this weekend. But these teams, being in the same division,
- 5:46Speaker 3: have a lot of history.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Let's learn about it.
- 5:49Speaker 1: No your history.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Seahawks lead the all time series twenty six to twenty
- 5:54Speaker 3: two in one and have won five of their last
- 5:57Speaker 3: six meetings.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Last game this year.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Earlier this year in Week seven, the Seahawks beat the
- 6:01Speaker 3: Cardinals twenty to ten at lowin Field. This game with
- 6:04Speaker 3: felt like the Seahawks were control from start to finish
- 6:07Speaker 3: despite how close the score was. Didn't really feel like
- 6:10Speaker 3: the Cardinals really had an opportunity to win this game.
- 6:13Speaker 3: This was when dk Metcalf missed his first game of
- 6:15Speaker 3: his career, but the young'ins stepped up to help him out.
- 6:19Speaker 3: JSN and Jake Bobo each had four receptions. Jsn had
- 6:22Speaker 3: sixty three yards in a touchdown. Bobo had sixty one
- 6:25Speaker 3: yards in a touchdown. He also had that crazy good
- 6:27Speaker 3: touchdown in the back corner of the end zone on
- 6:30Speaker 3: the right hand side on the Seahawks sideline. That was
- 6:33Speaker 3: one of the better catches in the league this year
- 6:34Speaker 3: and that was kind of the peak of Bubbo Mania
- 6:36Speaker 3: this year. So shout out Jake Bobo. Go to his website,
- 6:39Speaker 3: get his T shirts, so little shame was plugged for you, Jake.
- 6:43Speaker 6: There you go.
- 6:44Speaker 3: But yeah, the Hawks were up fourteen to ten at
- 6:46Speaker 3: halftime and then shut the Cardinals out in second half.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Seahawks had some good drives but sawed out in the
- 6:51Speaker 3: red zone only out of two field goals to hold
- 6:53Speaker 3: on for the twenty to ten victory. Ken Walker had
- 6:56Speaker 3: his best game the season. Rushed for one hundred and
- 6:58Speaker 3: five yards with twenty six carries. That is shockingly his
- 7:02Speaker 3: only one hundred yard game of the season. And if
- 7:04Speaker 3: you would have told me in week eighteen that we'd
- 7:06Speaker 3: be saying that, I would have told you, your liar.
- 7:08Speaker 3: But it is what it is, So I'm hoping we'll
- 7:10Speaker 3: see more of that from ken this weekend. And defensively,
- 7:13Speaker 3: Jordan Brooks probably had his best game in the season.
- 7:15Speaker 3: He was flying around the day nine tackles, half a sack,
- 7:18Speaker 3: three TFLs, one passes defended, one QB hit. And then
- 7:22Speaker 3: at quarterback, Kyler Murray did not play in that game.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Joshua Dobbs, who's now in the Vikings, was the starter
- 7:27Speaker 3: at quarterback. He was nineteen thirty three win forty six,
- 7:30Speaker 3: also had forty three yards in seven on seven carries
- 7:33Speaker 3: and that one long touchdown, So this will be a
- 7:35Speaker 3: little bit different matchup the Viker accuse me. The Cardinals
- 7:38Speaker 3: were playing a lot more confidence, different quarterbacks, So we'll
- 7:41Speaker 3: see what happens. But before we get there, let's check
- 7:43Speaker 3: out what happened in the rest of the vision.
- 7:45Speaker 4: What's the word?
- 7:48Speaker 2: What side the Seahawks or the NFC West champs?
- 7:53Speaker 4: Again, what's the word in the West? On HOWK talk?
- 8:00Speaker 5: Niners at the top of the division at twelve and four.
- 8:03Speaker 5: The Rams are nine to seven, Hawks.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Eight and eight, and the Cardinals are four and twelve.
- 8:06Speaker 5: The Niners have clenched the NFC West as well as
- 8:09Speaker 5: the number one seed in the NFC, so they'll get
- 8:11Speaker 5: a first round five. The Rams have also clenched the
- 8:13Speaker 5: second wild card spot the number six seed in the NFC.
- 8:16Speaker 6: But the Hawks are so live.
- 8:17Speaker 5: They can clinch the number seven seed and the final
- 8:19Speaker 5: spot with a win over the Cardinals and a loss
- 8:22Speaker 5: by the Packers. But let's look at the forty nine
- 8:24Speaker 5: ers in the Commanders last week, Man the forty Niners
- 8:26Speaker 5: got back on track Sunday.
- 8:28Speaker 6: They took down the Commanders.
- 8:29Speaker 5: The Niners got touchdown catches from Deebo, Samuel Brandon Ay
- 8:32Speaker 5: and a Russian touchdown from Elijah Mitchell Purdy, who's coming
- 8:36Speaker 5: off a horrible game where he threw foeig interceptions. It
- 8:39Speaker 5: was a humbling loss to Baltimore. He was twenty two
- 8:42Speaker 5: to twenty eight, two thirty and two touchdowns. He's back
- 8:44Speaker 5: on track with those two hundred and thirty yards now
- 8:47Speaker 5: two hundred and eighty on the season. Rock Perty. He
- 8:51Speaker 5: didn't break Joe Montana's record. He didn't bring Colin Kaepernick,
- 8:54Speaker 5: Alex Smith. No, he broke Jeff Garcia single season franchise
- 8:59Speaker 5: wreck a four thousand to seventy eight yards set in
- 9:03Speaker 5: two thousand.
- 9:04Speaker 6: That is crazy to me, big upster brock Purty.
- 9:06Speaker 5: But I thought Joe Montana, maybe Kaepernick, Alex Smith, several
- 9:10Speaker 5: other quarterbacks who could have held that record. But oh,
- 9:12Speaker 5: Jeff Garcia, man, he was actually a good quarterback in
- 9:14Speaker 5: this league. Chris McCaffrey had ninety one skimming yards before
- 9:18Speaker 5: leaving a game with a calf injury, so we expect
- 9:20Speaker 5: him to probably sit this week for the Niners. The
- 9:23Speaker 5: Commanders tried to make it interesting though, trailing by just
- 9:26Speaker 5: three a half time, but were shut out in the
- 9:28Speaker 5: second half as they fail by score of twenty seven
- 9:31Speaker 5: to ten. The Commanders have now lost seven games in
- 9:34Speaker 5: a row and might now be in line for the
- 9:36Speaker 5: number two pick in the draft next year. Something tells
- 9:39Speaker 5: me be En of Me is going to want to
- 9:41Speaker 5: get himself a quarterback.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I think so and everyone I mean, it's crazy though.
- 9:45Speaker 3: When the Seahawks played them, whatever week that was, and
- 9:48Speaker 3: it was week ten or something, everyone was talking about
- 9:50Speaker 3: how good Sam how it had been, and how they
- 9:53Speaker 3: found something. They found a diamond in the rough. He's
- 9:55Speaker 3: going to be the next QB of his team. And
- 9:58Speaker 3: man went rains and poors in this league and things
- 10:00Speaker 3: have gone south for mister Sam Howell elsewhere in the division.
- 10:03Speaker 4: The Rams and the Giants.
- 10:05Speaker 3: This one was a frustrating watch as we were kind
- 10:07Speaker 3: of falling along in the press box on Sunday. The
- 10:11Speaker 3: Rams Punch are taking to the playoffs in dramatic fashion
- 10:14Speaker 3: against those Giants. It was a back and forth matchup
- 10:16Speaker 3: all afternoon. The things really got interesting in the fourth quarter.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Rams were out twenty six to nineteen. They punt a
- 10:23Speaker 3: gunner Olozowitski don't know how to say his name, Sorry
- 10:26Speaker 3: about that. He took it ninety four yards to the
- 10:29Speaker 3: house for a touchdown, one of improbable punt returns bump.
- 10:33Speaker 3: We don't see that in the league very often this year,
- 10:35Speaker 3: so for it to happen in that clutch moment, but
- 10:38Speaker 3: instead of kicking the extra point, everyone just wants to
- 10:41Speaker 3: go for two. Trendy thing right now, I guess taking
- 10:43Speaker 3: a page out of Dan Campbell's book.
- 10:44Speaker 4: They went for two.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Conversion failed when Tyrod Taylor couldn't connect with a wide
- 10:49Speaker 3: open Saquon Bottle.
- 10:51Speaker 4: It was short armed it. It's like a.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Pitcher who has the yips trying to throw the first
- 10:55Speaker 3: base short armed it. And then another one where it's
- 10:58Speaker 3: like if that was a receiver, I'd say you we
- 11:00Speaker 3: have to catch that. But when you're throwing a running
- 11:02Speaker 3: back out the backfield, just get it to him.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Come on, ty Rod.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Anyway, they didn't get it, but the game wasn't over
- 11:08Speaker 3: because the Giants would force upunt, get the ball back,
- 11:10Speaker 3: they would drive down.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Mason Crosby would miss.
- 11:13Speaker 3: The game winning fifty four yard field goal, and the
- 11:16Speaker 3: Rams would win and clinch the sixth seed in the playoffs.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Stafford twenty four to thirty four, three seventeen, one touchdown,
- 11:22Speaker 3: two picks. Kyron Williams Man, he just continues to dominate.
- 11:26Speaker 3: He had eighty seven yards with three touchdowns and Pugnacua
- 11:30Speaker 3: five reception, one hudred and eighteen yards. Well, a lot
- 11:33Speaker 3: of teams regret that they passed on him going in
- 11:35Speaker 3: the fifth round. He's gonna set He's on pace to
- 11:37Speaker 3: break the rookie record, I think this weekend. So he's
- 11:40Speaker 3: doing his thing. So that's what's going on in the league.
- 11:43Speaker 3: But what matters this week, Bump, is what the Seahawks
- 11:45Speaker 3: got to do. They got to take care of business
- 11:47Speaker 3: first and foremost down in Arizona.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Man ups, Man up, Hawk talk.
- 12:02Speaker 5: All right, first matchup, Gotta look at the quarterback spot.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Kyler Murray.
- 12:07Speaker 5: He tours acl in week fourteen and return to action
- 12:11Speaker 5: on November fourth. He excuse me, week fourteen of last year.
- 12:14Speaker 5: That'd be crazy if he made a return this year.
- 12:17Speaker 5: But return on November twelfth against the Falcons. Man three
- 12:21Speaker 5: hundred and thirty five days. My man was out and
- 12:24Speaker 5: now Kyler Murray may deserves some credit for how he's
- 12:27Speaker 5: handled this season. He got a lot of negative press.
- 12:31Speaker 5: It was his attitude. The film study clause leadership. He
- 12:35Speaker 5: seems like that time off really helped him, and he
- 12:37Speaker 5: looks healthy immensely.
- 12:39Speaker 6: He looks like he's in a good place.
- 12:42Speaker 5: He did what he did, He did what he could
- 12:44Speaker 5: to get healthy, and the way he did it, I
- 12:45Speaker 5: think it's kind of changed the way that we look
- 12:47Speaker 5: at this guy. But he had to learn the new system.
- 12:50Speaker 5: There's a new offensive courting over there. He got Drew Petsing.
- 12:53Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm saying his name, Ridrew Petsing.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna call it.
- 12:57Speaker 6: We'll call it good. Okay. Now he hasn't been pairing
- 13:00Speaker 6: it up.
- 13:00Speaker 5: But last week he played pretty good against Philadelphia. Like
- 13:04Speaker 5: we mentioned, he led them to a second half comeback.
- 13:07Speaker 5: I saw the team put up twenty nine points, four touchdowns,
- 13:10Speaker 5: two hundred and seventy yards, one hundred and thirty seven rushing,
- 13:13Speaker 5: one hundred and thirty three passing, and nineteen first downs
- 13:16Speaker 5: on its final four drives. Murray looked good man second half.
- 13:21Speaker 5: He was thirteen or fourteen when it comes to throwing
- 13:23Speaker 5: the football for one hundred thirty three three touchdowns. He
- 13:25Speaker 5: looked good. So we're hoping that that does not continue
- 13:27Speaker 5: this weekend. But so far, on the season, He's completing
- 13:30Speaker 5: sixty four percent of his passes fifteen hundred and thirty
- 13:32Speaker 5: seven yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. He's been sacked
- 13:36Speaker 5: seventeen times. Interesting enough, Joshua Dawson Kyler Murray have very
- 13:41Speaker 5: similar stats. In eight games, Dobbs had one more than Murray.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Dobbs was sixty two percent completion rate, fifteen hundred and
- 13:47Speaker 5: sixty nine yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions, sacked seventeen times.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Murray did not play against the Hawks in Week seven,
- 13:54Speaker 5: so you know. The Hawks are twenty seventh overall. Defensively,
- 13:58Speaker 5: they're nineteenth against the pass. They've allowed at least three
- 14:01Speaker 5: out of twenty yards in five of their last six games.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I don't expect Kyler Murray to throw the ball all
- 14:07Speaker 5: over the yard. He doesn't have one receiver with a
- 14:10Speaker 5: one hundred yard game this year. He does have a
- 14:12Speaker 5: tight end with two though, so I expect him to
- 14:14Speaker 5: get McBride involved.
- 14:16Speaker 6: But he's still working out some kinks.
- 14:19Speaker 5: He played some good football last week, completely eighty percent
- 14:21Speaker 5: of his passes against Philly, but he's still working on
- 14:24Speaker 5: some stuff.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's the best he's looked this year.
- 14:28Speaker 3: And you said it, he loses his head coach who's
- 14:30Speaker 3: calling the plays. You have a new offensive coordinator in
- 14:32Speaker 3: your GM, a whole new system, so he's still figuring
- 14:34Speaker 3: it out. Mind you also coming back from an injury,
- 14:37Speaker 3: hoping his knee holds up. All these kind of things.
- 14:39Speaker 3: So last week it was the first week kind of
- 14:41Speaker 3: really got to see him. Looks like the Kyler Murray
- 14:44Speaker 3: of old. But slip it over to our quarterback, Gino
- 14:47Speaker 3: Smith taking on these Cardinals defense. Gino, I think, in
- 14:49Speaker 3: my opinion, like I said on the other podcast, coming
- 14:52Speaker 3: off one of the best games of the year, he
- 14:53Speaker 3: went twenty three or thirty three, essentially seventy percent for
- 14:56Speaker 3: two hundred ninety yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He
- 15:00Speaker 3: had a cuburating of one oh six, and I thought
- 15:02Speaker 3: he just moved so well in the pocket. I thought,
- 15:04Speaker 3: for all the nonsense out there that people think, the
- 15:07Speaker 3: narratives that they've decided about Geno because they didn't think
- 15:10Speaker 3: he was going to start or whatever, that he's not agile,
- 15:13Speaker 3: that he's not a good enough athlete, nonsense, nonsense.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Anyone that's making t J.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Watt fall on the ground and dive all over the
- 15:20Speaker 3: place is a good athlete, good pocket presidence. Gina put
- 15:24Speaker 3: that on full display last week and also another cool
- 15:27Speaker 3: thing in twenty five year old scramble. And he's really
- 15:30Speaker 3: cut down on the big mistakes. Obviously, he did have
- 15:33Speaker 3: the fumble against the Steelers, but that was from behind.
- 15:36Speaker 4: That's a sack. Really nothing you can do about that.
- 15:38Speaker 3: But in terms of interceptions, he's only had two interceptions
- 15:40Speaker 3: in his last six starts and now just needs forty
- 15:42Speaker 3: completions to pass Rick Meyer for fifth place on Seattle's
- 15:45Speaker 3: all times completion list with a fifteen after just two seasons. Now,
- 15:50Speaker 3: the first game against Arizona, he was eighteen and twenty
- 15:52Speaker 3: four two nineteen, two touchdowns in one interception, was sacked
- 15:55Speaker 3: twice and then cubuating of one thirteen, so he was solid.
- 15:58Speaker 3: He was pretty efficient. Just had the one turnover onto
- 16:01Speaker 3: miscommunication Bump. I want to say it was the Cardinals
- 16:03Speaker 3: sideline to Jake Bobo. I think they're a miscommunication on
- 16:06Speaker 3: the route. So yeah, he played a okay game and
- 16:08Speaker 3: hopefully you can kind of replicate some of that on
- 16:11Speaker 3: the year. He's a sixty five percent passer three four
- 16:15Speaker 3: hundred and thirty five yards eighteen touchdowns, nine interceptions. Now,
- 16:18Speaker 3: on defense, this is a good match for the Seahawks.
- 16:20Speaker 3: The Cardinals have struggled. They're twenty six overall on defense,
- 16:24Speaker 3: last against the run, thirteenth to get the pass, so
- 16:26Speaker 3: they're decent there, but thirty first in points allowed. They're
- 16:29Speaker 3: twenty eighth in sacks, so they're not really getting at
- 16:31Speaker 3: the pressure on the quarterback and they're dead last and
- 16:33Speaker 3: QB it's at fifty nine. So that should bode well
- 16:35Speaker 3: for Gino. Smanth and I'm hoping you can kind of
- 16:37Speaker 3: take advantage.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Yeah, Man, Gina's been solid all year.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Right, numbers aren't what they were last year, but man,
- 16:44Speaker 5: he's been keeping these guys in a game. Let's talk
- 16:47Speaker 5: about the pass catches for the Cardinals. You've got Trade McBride,
- 16:49Speaker 5: Michael Wilson, and Roundell More. They're not the most explosive team.
- 16:54Speaker 6: Through the air.
- 16:54Speaker 5: These Arizona Cardinals are twenty ninth averaging one hundred eighty
- 16:58Speaker 5: yards per game, but they're tied in a Mcbrie.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Man, he's been having a good season.
- 17:02Speaker 5: He leads a team with seventy eight receptions and seven
- 17:05Speaker 5: hundred and ninety one yards. Those seventy eight receptions are
- 17:08Speaker 5: franchise single single record by a tight end, easily surpassing
- 17:12Speaker 5: the previous mark of fifty six. He has joined Hall
- 17:15Speaker 5: of Famer Jackie Smith as the only tight end in
- 17:18Speaker 5: franchise history with seven hundred receiving yards this season. Him
- 17:22Speaker 5: and Sam Laporta two best rookie tight ends in the league.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Right now, He's seventh in the NFL among tight ends
- 17:27Speaker 5: and yards. In the first matchup against the Hawks, he
- 17:30Speaker 5: had three receptions for twenty nine yards. Now Marquis Brown,
- 17:34Speaker 5: he was a number one receiver coming into the season,
- 17:36Speaker 5: was placed on IR a couple of weeks ago.
- 17:38Speaker 6: Hasn't had the best season.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Fifty one receptions, one hundred targets, five hundred and seventy
- 17:42Speaker 5: four yards in four touchdowns. But next in line is
- 17:44Speaker 5: the route runner. Not the fastest guy, but Michael Wilson
- 17:47Speaker 5: will run some routes. Thirty two receptions, the kid out
- 17:49Speaker 5: of Stanford, four hundred and seventy yards in three touchdowns.
- 17:52Speaker 5: He's had three receptions for twenty six yards. Or he
- 17:54Speaker 5: had three receptions for twenty six yards in their first matchup.
- 17:57Speaker 6: And then we got Rondell Moore.
- 17:59Speaker 5: He has thirty six receptions three hundred and twenty one
- 18:01Speaker 5: yards in one touchdown, two receptions for two yards in
- 18:05Speaker 5: the first matchup, and I want to say he was
- 18:07Speaker 5: the recipient of a big hit from Devin Withers. Yep, yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 5: I remember that lit him up. Now, the lack of
- 18:17Speaker 5: production might be associated with the quarterbacks that they've had.
- 18:20Speaker 5: They have three quarterbacks over there. They are not the
- 18:23Speaker 5: Cleveland Browns. We're going to just plug any quarterback in and
- 18:26Speaker 5: you'll be good to go. They got some things working
- 18:28Speaker 5: against them now. The Hawks are nineteenth against the pass.
- 18:32Speaker 5: They have seventy five passes defending on the season. That's
- 18:34Speaker 5: twelfth in the NFL, and Devin Witherspoon is fifth in
- 18:37Speaker 5: the NFL with sixteen passes defended. I like this matchup
- 18:40Speaker 5: with their pass catchers and our guys in the secondary.
- 18:44Speaker 3: No question about it. And it was good to see
- 18:45Speaker 3: Withers from back out there. He's brings so much energy
- 18:47Speaker 3: to this defense and he's fifty the NFL passes defended,
- 18:50Speaker 3: missing three games, so that just kind of shows you
- 18:54Speaker 3: the impact he's had. And it was good to see
- 18:56Speaker 3: him knock the rust off a little bit against Pittsburgh.
- 18:58Speaker 3: But I expect him to have a big game in
- 19:00Speaker 3: the season finale. Regular season finale. Then let's look at
- 19:03Speaker 3: the running game Ken Walker Zach Sharburning taking on this
- 19:05Speaker 3: Cardinals front seven, and I was just I'll make it
- 19:08Speaker 3: really easy for you guys.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Man. The Seahawks about six and oh when they.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Rush for one hundred yards and games easy two and
- 19:15Speaker 3: eight when they don't. So I'm hoping their prayers will
- 19:19Speaker 3: be answered come Sunday. Arizona is the worst team in
- 19:21Speaker 3: the NFL stopping the run, allowing one hundred and forty
- 19:24Speaker 3: three yards per game. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were twenty ninth
- 19:27Speaker 3: in the NFL, averaging just ninety yards per game. So
- 19:30Speaker 3: something's got to give, right last you know, Ken Walker
- 19:34Speaker 3: had ten carries fifty three yards in a touchdown.
- 19:36Speaker 4: He did do some good things in that game.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Is kind of battling a shoulder injury, so hopefully this
- 19:41Speaker 3: will be a full go and get a lot of opportunities.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Zach Sharburning only had two carries for two yards.
- 19:46Speaker 3: So the thing about Walker too, I mentioned earlier, it
- 19:49Speaker 3: was his only one hundred yard rushing game this season.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Twenty six carries one hundred and five yards in the
- 19:53Speaker 3: first matchup, He's got eight hundred and twenty seven yards
- 19:56Speaker 3: and eight touchdowns on the season. Sharbonney has got four
- 20:00Speaker 3: under and thirty yards in one touchdown. This is a
- 20:02Speaker 3: matchup to me, run the rock, run the rock and
- 20:04Speaker 3: physically get after him the one hundred and forty second
- 20:07Speaker 3: or they give up one hundred and forty yrds per game.
- 20:09Speaker 3: They're dead last in the NFL. Come out and run
- 20:12Speaker 3: the football, and I'm honest, I don't even care if
- 20:15Speaker 3: there's a possession in there where we ran the ball
- 20:17Speaker 3: three times and punting, that's okay. That's how much I
- 20:21Speaker 3: want them to try to establish this run and get
- 20:23Speaker 3: after them because dominate time of possession, take care of
- 20:27Speaker 3: what you can. I think that's a matchup where Ken
- 20:29Speaker 3: Walker and Zach sharpern I can have a big day.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Yeah, we need him to have a big day. You
- 20:33Speaker 5: need our running back to ball out. You need this
- 20:36Speaker 5: running back to not do what he's been doing. I'm
- 20:39Speaker 5: talking about their guy, James Connor. He missed four games.
- 20:43Speaker 5: He's still only one hundred and ten yards away from
- 20:45Speaker 5: his first one thousand yard season ever in his career,
- 20:50Speaker 5: which is scary to me. I feel like he already
- 20:52Speaker 5: had one or two, But I guess not. My man's
- 20:54Speaker 5: doing his thing. He had his best performance of the
- 20:57Speaker 5: season last week against the Cardinals. He had a bug
- 20:59Speaker 5: twenty eight on the ground in a touchdown. He also
- 21:02Speaker 5: had a five yard reception. He returned to the lineup
- 21:06Speaker 5: against the Atlanta Falcons week ten after missing games being
- 21:09Speaker 5: on the ir.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Because of injury.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Since his return, he's been balling five hundred and twenty
- 21:14Speaker 5: six yards four touchdowns on eleven excuse me, one hundred
- 21:18Speaker 5: and thirteen carries, averaging four point seven per clip, including
- 21:23Speaker 5: sixteen ten plus yard runs. The Cardinals are fourth in
- 21:27Speaker 5: the league when it comes to breaking tackles in a rush.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Here's the thing about last week, we questioned the defense
- 21:34Speaker 5: in their tackling. Guess who's number one when it comes
- 21:36Speaker 5: to breaking tackles.
- 21:37Speaker 4: On a rush? Is it James Connor?
- 21:40Speaker 5: It's the Pittsburgh Steelers are number one, So against the best,
- 21:44Speaker 5: can get it done. Now, the Cardinals are fourth when
- 21:46Speaker 5: it comes to breaking tackles, so hopefully they learn from that.
- 21:49Speaker 6: All right, you saw the best.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Now get after these dudes, and it starts with up
- 21:53Speaker 5: with James Connor. Man we mentioned as a team, they're
- 21:55Speaker 5: six in the NFL when it comes to running the rock,
- 21:58Speaker 5: putting up one hundred.
- 21:59Speaker 6: And thirty four four yards per game.
- 22:01Speaker 5: So the thing that the Hawks are struggled with as
- 22:03Speaker 5: of late, they're going to be tested with.
- 22:05Speaker 6: So we'll see how they do.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Man, it's going to be an interesting gang a game
- 22:10Speaker 5: that's going.
- 22:10Speaker 6: To be intense.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I wish it was at home so I could fill
- 22:12Speaker 5: the crowd going nuts, but they're on the road, and
- 22:16Speaker 5: you know, let's see if they can tap into some magic.
- 22:18Speaker 6: It is.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Get back to fundamental ball, man, fundamental ball. I think
- 22:21Speaker 5: they'll be okay, just be consistent.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's be real, man, the Seahawks fans have
- 22:25Speaker 3: taken over that stadium a million times every time we
- 22:28Speaker 3: go down there.
- 22:29Speaker 6: Now.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Have some bad things happen in that stadium, Oh yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 3: that's for sure. But we usually win most of the
- 22:34Speaker 3: games down there against Arizona, So hopefully we can channel
- 22:37Speaker 3: some of that.
- 22:38Speaker 4: We know the twelves we'll be rocking down there.
- 22:40Speaker 3: But well, and the podcast telling you, guys, how does
- 22:43Speaker 3: Gus get this done?
- 22:44Speaker 4: Path of victory.
- 22:47Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the stat, Michael Dixon puts
- 22:50Speaker 2: it down, that kick is away.
- 22:52Speaker 4: If that kick.
- 22:53Speaker 7: Is good, good, say off.
- 22:55Speaker 1: When it's good. It's a path to victory. On Hawk Talk, well.
- 23:01Speaker 4: I open the podcast talking about it. It's simple. It
- 23:03Speaker 4: is do or die for the Seahawks. It is win
- 23:05Speaker 4: or go home.
- 23:06Speaker 3: The Seahawks need to hit the field in at State
- 23:09Speaker 3: Farm Stadium with a sense of urgency. Man you want
- 23:11Speaker 3: to avoid as football players, it doesn't matter what level
- 23:14Speaker 3: you play at, if you played in high school, college,
- 23:16Speaker 3: Division one, two three, NAIA, pros AF, XFL, whatever it is.
- 23:22Speaker 3: At the end of the season, everyone knows about lock
- 23:24Speaker 3: or clean out day, gear return, bad day. That's the
- 23:28Speaker 3: worst day of any football team, any football season, because
- 23:32Speaker 3: everyone knows when a football season ends, that group of
- 23:34Speaker 3: guys will never be in the same place ever again
- 23:37Speaker 3: at the same time. So there's some heaviness to what
- 23:40Speaker 3: that day means. And let's not have it be on Monday. Okay,
- 23:45Speaker 3: let's go. How do you do that bump by shutting
- 23:48Speaker 3: down the run? James Connor, Okay, two hundred two yards
- 23:52Speaker 3: last weekends at Pittsburgh Seelers is not what this team's about.
- 23:54Speaker 3: They're much better than that. I think they're gonna show
- 23:56Speaker 3: that on Sunday. So this game is gonna be one
- 23:58Speaker 3: and lost up front, So stop the yep and again
- 24:03Speaker 3: you said it earlier. Rush for one hundred yards. You
- 24:05Speaker 3: are six and er.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Let's get that done between Ken Walker and Zach Sharp,
- 24:08Speaker 5: and you know, throw in a little Gino too. Man
- 24:10Speaker 5: had a twenty five yard round last week. And look
- 24:12Speaker 5: at all young and stuff. And then you got to
- 24:15Speaker 5: contain the most explosive player they got us Kyler Murray.
- 24:17Speaker 5: He's a good athlete, but he's coming off kN the injury.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Let's and I wish it ain't bad on him. I'm
- 24:22Speaker 5: just saying that, just contain him and take the ball away.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Hawks are five and zero when they win the turnover battle,
- 24:30Speaker 5: and now you just pray the Justin Fields and the
- 24:33Speaker 5: Bears get it done.
- 24:34Speaker 6: You handle your.
- 24:35Speaker 5: Business, Bears handle their business. Oh, playoffs, simple simple. I've
- 24:40Speaker 5: always been a big Justin Fields fan for him, always, always, always.
- 24:46Speaker 5: I watched the Netflix special with him back in Weevend
- 24:49Speaker 5: high school. It's called like QUB one QB one.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we've been We've been knowing Justin Fields for a minute.
- 24:56Speaker 3: So that's gonna do it for us to Seahawks gotta
- 24:58Speaker 3: win to get into the playoffs. He's some help from
- 25:00Speaker 3: the Bears to beat the Packers. This has been Hawk Talk.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Reminder you can catch us anywhere Seahawks dot com, Apple podcasts, Spotify,
- 25:06Speaker 3: Series XM, and more. If you're listening on Apple podcasts,
- 25:09Speaker 3: don't forget to hit us with a five star rating.
- 25:11Speaker 4: We really appreciate it.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Next time bump and I talk to you, hopefully we'll
- 25:15Speaker 3: be next week getting ready for a playoff game in Dallas.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Until next time, he's Michael Bumpus, some NASA Jobe.
- 25:22Speaker 4: This has been Hawk Talk.
