- 0:01hello listeners and Welcome to our PX East 2020 wrap up episode my name is
- 0:06Matt and my name is Jenna we are a little bit delayed in this um because of
- 0:12the global pandemic yeah things got a little weird after packs well I bit
- 0:17before packs things got weird right I think they were a little bit weird to
- 0:20begin with uh just not uh to the magnitude that they are now because
- 0:24there were some um articles about uh criticizing people for still going ahead
- 0:30with packs yeah yeah a lot of companies pulled out so we didn't get to see uh
- 0:34Sony at all at packs they just didn't
- 0:38have any stuff there uh which was weird there was a lot of space on the floor I
- 0:44guess just because Sony wasn't there well I think a lot of other companies
- 0:47pulled out as well but yeah it did make it quite nice and um open to walk around
- 0:53on the floor yeah it's weird to look at it as a positive but it like in that
- 0:56sense yeah it was it was nice having uh having some nice big clear areas to to
- 1:02stand in I think a lot of attendance didn't go as well yeah it seemed really
- 1:06quiet especially on um Thursday and Friday I thought those days are
- 1:10historically quiet but they were pretty empty yeah this I mean I've never seen
- 1:14it at that quiet in fact I was kind of shocked on Thursday just at how quiet it
- 1:19was uh oh in Square Enix I think the they didn't have any of the Japanese
- 1:23team there they still had booths but no not the Japanese team it was all in all
- 1:27it was a little odd I guess just just because of all that and they had a lot
- 1:31of Crews going around wiping things down some more effectively than others every
- 1:37Booth had a giant thing of hand sanitizer that said something like
- 1:40people are gross or wash your damn hands yeah and we got uh people were giving
- 1:45out hand sanitizer I think they usually do it's just that I noticed more this
- 1:49time like like the the hand sanitizer with the company logo on it I'm sure
- 1:54they probably always have those it's just this time I was like oh yes I want
- 1:58that but we uh we did not get sick which is good no I think if anything it was
- 2:04cleaner and uh there was no PX plague this year yeah not that I'm aware of I
- 2:08think yeah normally we get like a cold or something afterwards but we've been
- 2:12fine which is good but yeah but things have been a little weird in the world in
- 2:15the weeks since but we hit out what was your favorite thing of packs my favorite
- 2:21thing probably was the Acquisitions Incorporated panel I just really like
- 2:26those okay and this was a particular good one cuz Mike I think does a really
- 2:32good job when he takes when he he runs you know when Jeremy Crawford or or back
- 2:38when it was Chris Perkins running it whenever they couldn't make it he'll
- 2:41sometimes take over and I think he kind of puts in a lot of
- 2:45effort and uh in particularly in this case I've never I've never seen a d and
- 2:50game live with quite the amount of stuff going on on this you know he had like a
- 2:56big display behind him with animations and things that he was controlling and
- 2:59and it was like I don't know it was really good A D and D live show possibly
- 3:04the best one I've seen I like when he does it because it's always a kind of a
- 3:07standalone episode of it um because I only really watch the ones that we go to
- 3:13live uh cuz it's just too much to keep up with otherwise so I like these ones
- 3:17because you can just jump in not know the characters or the story or anything
- 3:21and then it ends yes yeah cuz you're not really one to listen to D and D on in
- 3:28podcast form or anything like that right that doesn't well I just don't have the
- 3:31time yeah I barely have time to play it
- 3:34yeah true and and a D and D podcast I
- 3:39mean historically is 4 hours generally speaking right so yeah it's a big
- 3:44commitment so this one was an adaptation of the Mandalorian uh for D and D for
- 3:50their characters which I guess if you listen to this and you know what Pax is
- 3:53you probably I mean you would have heard us talk about it and you can look up the
- 3:57details of all that but I just think he did a really great job uh it was very
- 4:02funny it was [ __ ] hilarious actually and uh very entertaining I like the way
- 4:07that they play d& D I know that they're all Comedians and actors and everything
- 4:12but I like the uh they put a lot more effort into storytelling and even the
- 4:18way that Mike or Jeremy Crawford when they run it they're not just giving you
- 4:24endless things to fight so it's not just like oh and then another skeleton and
- 4:28then another one and then this and then uh if they feel like a fight is going on
- 4:33too long they'll just cut it and add some Exposition that somehow makes it
- 4:39end I like that yeah I think Chris Perkins used to do that all the time and
- 4:42that's when I first noticed that Chris Perkins is very good at it I think it
- 4:46just keeps the game from getting stale yeah totally and if you're not into just
- 4:50dice rolling then which I guess I'm not so much either than it it also for a
- 4:55live show it's way more entertaining to hear them kind of improv than it is to
- 4:58see them roll dice sorry but it still feels like they're playing D and D
- 5:02because I know I've played some games where it's like if it's not fighting
- 5:07heavy then you're just kind of talking to NPCs and there aren't other checks
- 5:13like roles to to perform checks I like the way that they have a good mix of it
- 5:19we'll just have to and by we I mean I will have to incorporate that into D and
- 5:24games so what was your favorite thing of the of the show well the thing that I
- 5:28looked forward to most was the super giant panel they actually had two so the
- 5:32first night Friday night they had a concert so I think they've only done
- 5:36this once or twice before four I think they did it in London and then at Pax
- 5:42West Prime yeah PAX Prime yeah yep well it was Darren Corb who is the composer
- 5:47for super giant games and Ashley Barrett who has been working with him at super
- 5:53giant since the beginning so the two of them have done all the music for the
- 5:59four games games that super giant has now put out Bastion transistor py and
- 6:03Hades and they're my favorite game company I love all the games they put
- 6:09out and the music is really well integrated into all of their games so
- 6:13the first night they did the orchestra and then the following day they had a
- 6:18panel with uh the two of them and Logan Cunningham who is the voice actor for
- 6:22super giant so it was really fun to see all that and to see the Music performed
- 6:27live and Corp is just such a nice guy and you could tell that he was having
- 6:33this Orchestra play his songs was like a profound moment for him yeah it seems
- 6:39like Darren's just a really sweet guy who's genuinely humble and kind of
- 6:44overwhelmed by his success I was really surprised actually because after the
- 6:48concert on the Friday night um they did a signing and previously I've U met him
- 6:54we I I've actually interviewed him a couple years ago and that uh I think you
- 6:58can find on our website yep in the past when I've met him we kind of just went
- 7:02right up to the booth and said hi and chatted with him um this time there was
- 7:07a line for hours like yes they shut the
- 7:11line down because they ran out of time because they needed to close the venue
- 7:15at midnight mhm um and then had to do an overflow the next day yeah it was crazy
- 7:22but the nice guy that he is he remembered us from years prior yeah he's
- 7:27honestly like he's so nice like mind-blowingly nice I'm not
- 7:32sure I would be as like P like and so patient like they were there for so long
- 7:37I would lose my mind I know and they were having technical difficulties too
- 7:41with the computers trying to sell their stuff like yeah yeah it's a little bit
- 7:45overwhelming but I feel like the whole team they they handled it really well
- 7:49they're so nice they're yeah they talked to each person that came through so that
- 7:54that was a really cool thing I'm glad we did that despite standing and waiting
- 7:59for so long it was just nice to oh yeah really happy for them like because as a
- 8:02company I'm I'm glad that that they can exist as a company and be successful
- 8:06because you know they kind of the opposite of your kind of AAA Studio
- 8:12almost like they just do what they love kind of thing it's not doesn't feel like
- 8:18commercial you know what I'm saying yeah and four games in they still have a very
- 8:22small core team um and I I like that but if uh if you've never played any of
- 8:27games I kind of recommend playing them in the that they were released but the
- 8:31newest one um is actually really fun and I've been playing it now it's not
- 8:35completed yet it's still in Early Access but I don't feel like that takes away
- 8:40anything from the game it still feels complete when you're playing it but it
- 8:44it it just means that every month or two they add new features which is pretty
- 8:48cool it's on Steam it is on Steam yeah yeah most of their games are PC um they
- 8:53have ported them over to Bastion and transistor are on the switch um Bastion
- 8:59is on on Xbox and I think they might at least the first two Bastion transistor
- 9:05are on PlayStation as well yeah they're also on uh iOS oh that's right Bas and
- 9:10transistor yeah they actually and they just released um if you have Bastion on
- 9:16I iOS already they the original version of it was made by some other company
- 9:20like it was ported by some company and apparently there were a lot of
- 9:23performance issues like super giant just released their own like build of it and
- 9:28it's runs much better and it's actual you know actually supports all the new
- 9:32devices properly and everything so and it's five bucks so you I
- 9:36mean yeah there I mean bastion's a pretty old game now but I played it
- 9:40again recently and I I still think it holds up oh cool I I mean I've never
- 9:44played all the way through it I played a bunch of it on the 360 back back you
- 9:49know I don't however long ago but I never finished it so I got to get my act
- 9:53together and do that yeah yep yeah uh as usual we went and saw all the
- 9:58penny I panels you know cuz we we love those guys the Q&A panels uh they're
- 10:03always funny and I feel like once again I'm sort of disappointed and feeling a
- 10:08bit old by how easy it is to get into those panels versus how difficult it was
- 10:14even just five six years ago you know what I mean yeah definitely yep I know
- 10:17for the guys who started at all yeah and uh I mean obviously they're still
- 10:22they're doing fine they're doing some good stuff and they've branched out
- 10:24they've got like twitch and and you know all their Associated things now and
- 10:28they're doing huge things with like d and d and everything so it's all it's
- 10:32all good the Q&A are always funny uh and this the themes are always weird and
- 10:37ridiculous I like this Gil but Sol thing that had going on this
- 10:42time I um I do really like how in their um make a strip panel now they hold so
- 10:48at every uh live show they'll draw um a hot dog fairy I'm not sure where that
- 10:53originated but that will be somewhere in the strip but um remember where that
- 10:57came from they've now started kind of holding it hostage and I think this started
- 11:04actually at one of the packs on plugs that we were at where um they said they
- 11:08would only draw it if if the donation amount for Child's Play got up to a
- 11:11certain amount usually around like $10,000 or something and it always does
- 11:17and it always makes it there by some very small incremental amount until
- 11:22suddenly it makes the jump that someone in the audience has just donated $5 to
- 11:26$10,000 so this year I think the Max like the minimum was set at
- 11:3220,000 and it kind of just all of a sudden jumped up there yeah I don't know
- 11:36who this mystery person is it's the same person every year
- 11:39or if it's you write in and let us know podcast mgm.com because this happens
- 11:45every time yeah damn we'll draw you a fairy yeah that's right I can't I can't
- 11:49draw but I'll do my best the clam Chow a fairy this time and then also a Boston
- 11:55cre oh my God it was disgusting Mike's really good at
- 12:01capturing what it is that's horrifying about the food like oh about everything
- 12:07did you see the pins they made this year of himself and Jerry oh my God yes like
- 12:14the the worst possible versions of them what what they what were they calling
- 12:18that I can't I'm not sure yeah yeah they're just horrific hilarious though I did like
- 12:24that tweet of Jerry's that said like my best friend in the entire world Drew
- 12:27this picture of me yeah Y and then the other panel that we
- 12:32went to was the gearbox panel yes which I'm glad we made it to this year last
- 12:38year we missed it because we thought nothing happens on Thursday let's skip
- 12:42that one day just go to work and uh they moved gearbox from the Sunday that it's
- 12:47always been on to the Thursday I'm not sure if that's just in a way to get more
- 12:51people there on one of the quieter days maybe H it didn't really work I guess if
- 12:56that was the plan um but it's great too late it's too late at that point yeah
- 13:02they didn't release that's what happened last year they didn't release the
- 13:05schedule until just about a week before and by that time there was no way I
- 13:08could get that day off of work uh so this time I kind of expected it and I
- 13:12planned for it the gatebox panel is almost like a rock concert these days
- 13:18it's a little like I don't know it's very like I mean I love it but it's very
- 13:23very showy you know what I mean it's not like you get these very dry panels about
- 13:26video games where someone gets up and talks about you know this is the new
- 13:30game and blah blah blah whereas gearbox is like no this is like a Vegas show or
- 13:36something yeah and I Randy yeah exactly I got to assume that's ry's influence
- 13:43cuz he's like a showman magician kind of kind of thing yep and there's always
- 13:48like a check under your chair or some kind of thing like that um yeah this
- 13:52year they gave away some golden keys for the games and then I believe some skins
- 13:57as well yeah we have G we should claim those I forgot about it we should we
- 14:02should do that M but they announced the new [ __ ] DLC oh my God it look so
- 14:07good my God they're killing it right now I think uh this video is now available
- 14:12online too so you can watch the trailer for it love guns and tentacles it is the
- 14:17marriage of way Wright and hammerlock and it looks like a lovecraftian
- 14:22nightmare it's so good yeah it's got like floating tentacle monsters and
- 14:29weird [ __ ] uh yeah I'm super excited oh Gage makes an appearance in it she's
- 14:35like The Wedding Planner I guess yeah yep yeah and they did like a live uh
- 14:41performance of the I guess the intro sequence I don't know if they're
- 14:46actually even going to make this but they all they acted out all the voice
- 14:49actors yeah uh the introduction to to the DLC so I I don't know if anything's
- 14:54going to come of that but it was all the voice actors yeah they acted it out and
- 14:57then um Eli Roth uh showed up yeah cuz he actually they announced he is
- 15:02directing um the Borderlands movie yeah I don't know how they're going to make a
- 15:08Borderlands movie but okay I'll watch it
- 15:12yeah just a lot of shooting I guess but
- 15:16Borderlands has a very particular visual style that I mean they I I guess it's
- 15:22early days but are they going to try and do that or are they going to just is it
- 15:26just going to look like a normal film or all right and what could the story be
- 15:31yeah exactly because Borderlands is kind of funny because it makes fun of the
- 15:37fact that it's a video game so I don't I don't know I'm just I'm not I mean maybe
- 15:43it'll be great probably it'll be entertaining at the in some form with
- 15:48even if it's terrible but I just I'm just confused about as long as it has
- 15:52boner farts in it then we're good yeah yeah yeah I'm interested to see it I
- 15:58mean Eli Roth I'm not a fan of all of his films but he does seem like a fun
- 16:02guy and I guess if anybody's going to make a Borderlands movie it might as
- 16:07well be someone who at least has a [ __ ] sense of humor I'm pretty
- 16:09excited I I'm a fan of most of his films so yeah Ian yeah like they didn't show
- 16:14anything they basically just said Hi here's Eli Roth he's going to do it and
- 16:18then he made a a joke that maybe is real or maybe not about getting all the
- 16:23cosplayers to come down so we can film them being killed and then that's about
- 16:27that's all we know about it at this point that yeah so most of our time this
- 16:32Pax was spent in the panels yes but we did go down to the floor a little bit we
- 16:37got to hang out with some of our friends from previous paxes mhm Robin Anthony
- 16:43from three flip Studios they've we talked about in the past they've made
- 16:47armed in gelatinous and now they actually handmade a bunch of arcade
- 16:51cabinets yes they are [ __ ] cool they've actually been traveling the
- 16:56country setting these up at various video arcade so if if you're into arcade
- 17:01gaming and you're in sure there's one in Chicago there's one down in Florida just
- 17:04check it out check your local arcade so you've got on there and take a couple
- 17:07friends check it out cuz it's [ __ ] awesome also bonus the arcade machines
- 17:11have cup holders yeah you were very excited by I am very excited about that
- 17:16I don't know why that how has it taken this long for that to I know this just
- 17:22seems like Common Sense especially like if you're serving drinks at your you
- 17:28know your uh your your arcade which a lot of them are these days cuz let's be
- 17:32honest I think more adults go to arcades these days than children so yeah cup
- 17:37holders people I just I just wish the pinball machines would had would have
- 17:40cup holders my one thing you don't have to block your field of vision with a
- 17:45with a well you can't put it on there it'll just slide off yeah cuz most
- 17:50arcade machines are angled so there's nowhere to put anything you have to put
- 17:53on the floor and then you knock it over so great job guys speaking from
- 17:57experience um but still a great fun game I love I love getting to play it every
- 18:03time we see them I like it's one of those games that even if you can play
- 18:06with a bunch of strangers and by the end of it you'll like love hate each other
- 18:10just because it's like it's it's a good party game we met Tom from Tiny mations
- 18:15he's the developer of a game called clang U the first clang I believe has
- 18:20been out for a while but he's he's currently working on clang 2 which he
- 18:24was showing at PAX East uh and cuz his Booth was pretty busy so he was kind
- 18:29enough to send us a a key to check it out and I've been playing it and it's
- 18:32[ __ ] cool it's like uh a rhythm game which I am traditionally not a huge fan
- 18:39of like you know like Guitar Hero and those kind of games I'm not super into
- 18:43but this one is different because it's more like a platformer that you have to
- 18:48control in time with the music you know what I'm saying okay so like you control
- 18:53the character on the screen and you have to like swipe click and hold in time
- 18:58with the music the indicators pop up on the screen and like it's fun I thought I
- 19:02was good at it because I was getting like 90% And then I saw uh in their
- 19:07Discord Channel you were on easy or something no there were people in there
- 19:11with like 100% And I was like ah [ __ ] oh so I guess I got to try harder but it's
- 19:16not out yet it's just in in beta and uh I think he's still working on it looking
- 19:21for some feedback but keep an eye out for that it's called clang 2 and it's
- 19:25it's got these really trippy visuals the music's really great it's like it's
- 19:28going to be cool cool so keep an eye out for that I had one more um video game
- 19:31that I wanted to talk about um it was by a Polish Studio Walkabout games and it
- 19:36was called liberated it is uh a comic book game so you all the um Exposition
- 19:43is kind of delivered by the panels of a comic book and then when it gets to a
- 19:50part with uh action you are playing within the panel yeah um so it's a cool
- 19:55original idea it is I think
- 19:59just the right amount of frustration and
- 20:03difficulty yeah um it was tough where it's it's tough but it wasn't so tough
- 20:09that you just want to rage quit it it's It's just tough enough that you're like
- 20:14oh I can get through this I can do it yeah I really liked that yeah he was
- 20:18saying that he he's a comic fan but he feels Like Comics uh you know on the way
- 20:24out yeah they're dying medium so he thought he could kind of merge uh video
- 20:28games Comics H that's a really good idea yeah and it's got a cool dystopian kind
- 20:33of film noiri detective setting yeah like kind of like a little cyber Punk
- 20:38but more ellian I guess mhm uh that is also not out yet but it
- 20:44is coming out soon I believe on Steam but look for that one liberated it was
- 20:48really the art that Drew me over to it yeah the banana was very uh very
- 20:53eye-catching and kind of up your up your
- 20:58alley so to speak they had a really big
- 21:02Animal Crossing Booth very fancy and there was lines around the block for
- 21:08Animal Crossing uh it's out now so possibly if you're interested in it
- 21:12you've already heard about it I mean it's Animal Crossing I don't
- 21:17know I mean you uh you arrive on an island and you owe that crafty raccoon a
- 21:24bunch of money and then you got to pay him back I mean it's yeah I don't I mean
- 21:27I've only played um New Leaf yes on 3DS yeah yeah and as
- 21:34much as addicted as we got to it I still it's a very frustrating game because I'm
- 21:40like I'm not even doing anything and I have to now check in with this stupid
- 21:44monkey that lives next door to me at exactly 300 p.m. and like and I have to
- 21:50get guilted for not having played it for 2 days straight and now they're all I
- 21:54can't believe you've left us yeah it's the first game that I've ever set an
- 21:59alarm at so that at work I could duck
- 22:02out to visit Cube my penguin neighbor uh otherwise he gets he was he just gets so
- 22:09upset if you miss your appointment you know uh see my think my first game that
- 22:14I had to set an alarm for was um
- 22:18Webkins Webkins where you yes I in um in college a few of my friends and I got
- 22:25pretty addicted to this stupid online game where where you actually had to go
- 22:29out and buy uh these little like stuffed animal things um that came with a code
- 22:34and then like actual physical actual physical like I still have some of them
- 22:38somewhere um actual physical little like Bean baggy stuffed animals that came
- 22:42with a code on their tag that you entered into your Webkins account um and
- 22:48then you would be able to play as that character like a little coward elephant
- 22:52or whatever it was and then um you had to create rooms and buy furniture and
- 22:57stuff but there was this guy who um sold
- 23:01different furniture or things for your rooms right um but he would say like you
- 23:08have to be here between 3:00 and 3:15 and then you can get this rare item
- 23:13it sounds like almost like it was ahead of its time because now you have like
- 23:17you know the Spyro games what you call that crap and um the Disney Infinity
- 23:23where you have you know you buy the characters and then you scan them in oh
- 23:26in the like amiibos you can play as a characters if you scan was in sounds
- 23:29like yep yeah but please if anybody anybody listening ever played Webkins
- 23:34let me know I'm not the only one we had like a whole work group of people and
- 23:37whoever was off that day would be like don't worry like we all had each other's
- 23:41passwords and we're like I got this for you don't worry that's so
- 23:46strange and we were far too old to be to
- 23:50be buying all these stuffed animals wa I look all the people playing Animal
- 23:55Crossing right now I would have said you know I I I I didn't know what animal
- 24:00crossing was until I played it on the 3DS and now I kind of get it but I I
- 24:04would not have picked how many grown ass [ __ ] people play that game had I not
- 24:09experienced it for myself cuz it is it looks like it's
- 24:13silly like a silly kids game and it kind of is but it's not it's [ __ ]
- 24:16addictive not only that its release was the same day as
- 24:23Doom which which I have been playing we actually got to play
- 24:28um it is out now but we did get to play
- 24:32the beginning of it um at an event at P
- 24:36yes so not at Pax itself Bethesda does an event next door every year PAX East
- 24:42is on at the uh Boston Convention Exhibition Center and right next door in
- 24:46the hotel is a comedy club called laugh and every year Bethesda well it's two
- 24:51years so far I think and hopefully it continues Bethesda hires the whole bar
- 24:54out and turns it into a Bethesda game convention of the own B it's called
- 24:59Bethesda game days and um they do their own like live podcasts they have a
- 25:04little uh Bethesda store and then demos of the upcoming games and you get uh
- 25:10free drinks two free drinks I believe and lunch and and lunch yeah and you you
- 25:16will have to line up probably for a few hours to get in because it gets really
- 25:20busy but honestly I think it's worth it oh it absolutely is it's like it's a
- 25:26cool little offshoot of packs that is
- 25:31not um very well marketed I think well we didn't know what it was last year and
- 25:36we were technically invited like I didn't know what the hell it was like so
- 25:41but luckily we found out now we can go every year cuz it's really great they
- 25:46were showing Doom Eternal and the wastelanders expansion for Fallout 76
- 25:52which turns Fallout 76 into an actual game that you can play
- 25:57finally so that'll be nice for those people who bought that well that's
- 26:01that's video games uh but Pax isn't just about video games uh even even if less
- 26:07so these days there is still a lot of tabletop stuff at at PAX East and
- 26:14honestly I kind of enjoy that a little more sometimes um we played some some
- 26:19cool [ __ ] yeah I think um we played quite a few games I think we should
- 26:22highlight a couple of them yep one that we got pretty into and played for a
- 26:27while I've never actually seen this before but it was called kocol and it is
- 26:33a very large board is this like some sort of traditional game or is this a
- 26:38new game that just feels traditional I don't know like it's it's kind of like
- 26:44shuffle board is yeah yeah so it's a a circle board um that's waxed it's like
- 26:50very smooth and you have these little discs and it's basically very similar to
- 26:55the rules of curling or shuffle board m where you alternate turns and you knock
- 27:01other players pucks off the board and try to get your own in the Inner Circle
- 27:06yeah and like you literally flick them and and send them scooting around the
- 27:11the board and it's like it's super fun yeah yeah I was very tempted to buy one
- 27:17but there I guess just because of the nature of the game they have to be
- 27:20crafted well for it to work and they're quite expensive right so they had a lot
- 27:24of boards there that were brought by Jeremy Tracy and you can find his boards
- 27:29at kenol gameb boards.com um they're beautiful and yes after playing it for
- 27:35an hour or so we were very very tempted to just buy one on the spot the ones
- 27:39that he brought there were all ones with very slight defects which you wouldn't
- 27:43even know until they were pointed out so he let everyone play on them and then at
- 27:48the end of the convention they were all sold off did he said he's not taking any
- 27:53of them home with him so they will be sold in one way or
- 27:56another mhm but yeah that's a great game and it's apparently there's like a
- 28:00league for it and everything now it's like a actual competition game I believe
- 28:05so I know probably more people have heard of it and we just sound we're
- 28:09Amazed by it everyone's like yeah crol of course but no that was fun yeah we
- 28:13played a game called draon that I had not seen before it's it's got like a a
- 28:18cool art style that that draw our attention I think and I think it's quite
- 28:22popular because they had a very successful Kickstarter and they had new
- 28:26expansions and whatnot you basically you play as a a dragon and you move around
- 28:32the board you know collecting resources gold trying to hoard gold and and
- 28:37Destroy Villages and you know outdo the other other dragons that we're playing
- 28:42it's a cool game it's like simple nice I got some really beautiful um high
- 28:46quality wood and metal game boards as well as the traditional you know the
- 28:50normal box copy you would get it's a cool game yeah yeah I enjoyed that one
- 28:55another board game we played was called uh Nexus infernum it was made by uh
- 28:59archon games who made the game escaton that we had previously played and
- 29:03purchased at um Pax unplugg I mostly like this company because of their art
- 29:07style it's very like gothy kind of
- 29:12Satanist yes they're all about demons and skulls yeah so every time I see that
- 29:16I'm like oh they have a new game oh it's evil as well yeah but they
- 29:22they're such nice people too yeah yeah that's why it's always I mean Satanist
- 29:27some of the nicest people people so I guess shouldn't be too surprised
- 29:31but but yeah they're all really lovely but yeah this game I you play as
- 29:35necromancers trying to summon skeletons to gain power that's that's how I that's
- 29:41how the plot seemed to me yep we had just played a little kind of demo of it
- 29:45so we didn't get the full scope of the game but it was very fun you move your
- 29:50skeletons between these portals and and collect dark energies and use that to to
- 29:54to buy cards that expands your powers it's it's uh it's cool and uh and the
- 30:00artwork is suitably uh it reminds me a lot of like Mike mola and the Hellboy
- 30:05kind of style mhm like not not it's not like the same but it's just I guess no
- 30:10it's it's that in tones of gray yes and I mean probably listeners you'll know
- 30:15what I mean I just it just it reminds me of it like that in uh what's that game
- 30:20um darkest dungeon that kind of style mhm all right I have one more honorable
- 30:25mention um which is maybe the booth that we spent the longest amount of time at
- 30:31and I thought was a really awesome addition to packs yes Dungeons and
- 30:36Dragons had a little booth for idle
- 30:39Champions oh and all it was was a bunch
- 30:44of blank coloring book pages of characters and and a thing of
- 30:50crayons but I think it was very nice for something that is packs can get
- 30:55stressful there are a lot of people yeah it's very crowded it was very nice to
- 31:00just sit down for a little while and just color in a page and know I think I
- 31:06underestimated how how how relaxing coloring is going to how how um
- 31:13particular you were going to be about coloring in yours I I mean I'm not I
- 31:18think I did a a fine job I was inside most of the lines and but I had finished
- 31:23mine and looked over and you were you didn't know you could shade the crayon I
- 31:28was not aware that was a thing but uh and and see now I'm curious did yours
- 31:32end up on their website because it [ __ ] well should have they had a lot
- 31:36of them so yeah I know but like even when you when we because you had to hand
- 31:40them in to get uh to get a a a a Beholder die like a six-sided die with a
- 31:45Beholder on it they handed them in they looked at yours and they were like oh wow like
- 31:50so yeah I take my coloring very seriously yeah yeah I learned I
- 31:55learned oh and I also want to give a sh out to the food trucks because getting
- 32:01food at packs is is a thing I generally and I think the food trucks situ The
- 32:06Situation's gotten better like in my opinion there used to be a couple out
- 32:10the front but now they have like a bunch at the back and then the variety and uh
- 32:14they also they've got um a couple inside now as well I don't know I think in
- 32:20general I think the food situation is better than it what has been in the past
- 32:24to it seems like it to me anyway yeah and they had a vegan taco truck that
- 32:27that's what I'm saying yeah it's just so much more very inclusive yes oh and for
- 32:33the first time since one of the early paxes they had a bar open yeah they did
- 32:38they had a bar uh Voodoo Ranger had a bar on site in the convention center
- 32:43they were limiting people and I guess they've had some issues in the past with
- 32:47people getting a little too drunk um but they were limiting people I think to
- 32:51three beers a day I didn't point this out to them because I didn't want to do
- 32:55that gu as he's telling me I was like I I see a way around this already their
- 33:00method of of limiting you they would give you a wristband you know whether
- 33:03there traditionally yeah you have to show your ID at the the gate kind of and
- 33:08they give you a wristband and then when you bought a beer they would just Mark
- 33:11put a little Mark on The Wristband to say you've had one and then once you got
- 33:14the three you w't allowed anymore I mean you take that off there's nothing yeah
- 33:18there's nothing to stop you from leaving taking off the bracelet and then coming
- 33:22back through and getting another one but hey maybe we're just Evil Geniuses and
- 33:26no I hope you're not listening to this because well I guess the point was just that I
- 33:31think he implied that they hadn't allowed it in the past because there had
- 33:35been some sort of incident right like and I was like well first of all what
- 33:39the what happened I'm I'm really curious I mean probably someone just got drunk
- 33:42and was a pain in the ass mhm or several people possibly but and then also I'm
- 33:47hoping that it worked out okay cuz that was nice it was nice to be able to just
- 33:50stop in and have a beer mhm you know so hopefully people didn't abuse the
- 33:54privilege it didn't seem like it no it didn't and I I think he would be ble to
- 33:58tell the guy checking IDs at the door like if you were wasted already he's not
- 34:02going to let you in but I guess PA would not be a good somebody being really
- 34:07drunk at packs I could see that being a pain in the ass oh so yeah I can see why
- 34:11they they were being careful about it so I'm hopefully it all worked out good be
- 34:16too vo Ranger yeah they have good stuff good choice I'm glad it wasn't just you
- 34:20know bud or something for $20 or whatever right like you would nor how it
- 34:26usually is well and yeah I was going to say the prices were pretty reasonable as
- 34:29well I think it was I mean more than you pay a bar but you know outside but I
- 34:33think it was only like six or seven bucks a beer not the 10 or 15 they
- 34:36charge at the bloody Dunkin Donuts Center here
- 34:39in for the bl light and the chorus yeah oh it's a big can I don't care still
- 34:45trash still tastes like [ __ ] yeah so that was P I think uh is there anything
- 34:50else you wanted to uh no I think I think that was it yeah big thanks to Penny
