- 0:30Speaker 1: Close your eyes and take a big, deep breath in
- 0:35through your nose, slowly and gently breathe out through your mouth.
- 0:48Take another deep breath in, breathing in pure peacefulness, and
- 0:56slowly breathe out one more time, deep breath in and
- 1:08then slowly breathe out, and you're feeling very calm, very peaceful,
- 1:19very very relaxed.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Now, imagine yourself on a beautiful winding path, deep in
- 1:32the heart of a wonderful, enchanted forest, and the ground
- 1:38beneath your feet is soft and squishy, but very firm,
- 1:44and it's made from all of the fallen leaves from
- 1:47the trees. Can you feel the squishy leaves under your feet.
- 1:56You can feel a gentle breeze on your face as
- 2:00you walk along the path, and you can feel the
- 2:04warmth of the sun all over your body. Ooh, it
- 2:08feels so peaceful here. You look up to the very
- 2:14tops of the trees and you can see glints of
- 2:18sunlight shimmering upon the leaves, and it looks so pretty,
- 2:23so sparkly, and the air smells so fresh and clean,
- 2:29and you take great, big deep breaths of it, really
- 2:33filling your lungs full of air and With every step
- 2:38you take, you feel yourself relaxing more and more as
- 2:44you go deeper and deeper into the forest. As you walk,
- 2:51you notice the birds flying and hopping from place to place,
- 2:55happily singing their songs to each other. More you walk,
- 3:01the more you notice all the other wildlife at work
- 3:05and at play here in this magical place. Off in
- 3:15the distance, you can hear the sound of tumbling water,
- 3:19and you wonder where it's coming from. Maybe it's a waterfall.
- 3:25So you follow the sounds of the water, not sure
- 3:28what you'll find, and lo and behold, you discover a
- 3:34beautiful clear stream that's gurgling and splashing over small rocks
- 3:40and pebbles, and it looks so cool and inviting, so
- 3:45inviting that you think you want to go for a
- 3:47paddle in it. So you sit down, and I'm just
- 3:52about to take off your shoes when you notice some
- 3:55very nice squirrels and rabbits darting about just over the
- 4:01other side of the stream. They hear you, and they
- 4:06stop to have a look. The rabbits, being very timid,
- 4:11run off and disappear into the nearby bushes. But the squirrels, well,
- 4:16they are very curious, and they all gather together. One
- 4:22of the squirrels, who has a lovely red coat and
- 4:25big bushy tail, comes close to the edge of the
- 4:28stream and looks at you with big, soft brown eyes,
- 4:33kind eyes. The others creep a bit closer, to a
- 4:39bit timid, but they still come. They start to chatter
- 4:44to each other, but you can't hear what they are
- 4:46saying over the sound of the water gurgling over the rocks.
- 4:51The first squirrel, who is the bravest one, says to.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You, Hello, who are you and why are you here.
- 5:00Speaker 2: You tell him that you are out walking and just
- 5:03happen to come across the stream, and well, here you are. Really.
- 5:09The squirrel then asks you if you would like a
- 5:12cup of tea after your long walk. It's the least
- 5:16they can do, he tells you. So you take off
- 5:20your shoes and cross the stream to meet the squirrels.
- 5:26When you get to the other side, the bravest squirrel,
- 5:29who tells you his name is Red because he has
- 5:32a lovely, soft red shiny coat, looks at you again
- 5:36and says, hm, I don't think you'll fit in our village.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You're way too big.
- 5:43Speaker 2: The squirrels gather together again and chatter to each other.
- 5:46Then Red steps forward and pulls a shiny brown nut
- 5:51out of his pocket, and he says, here, eat this,
- 5:55and then you can fit into our village. Red gives
- 6:00you the shiny brown nut and you look at it, thinking, well,
- 6:05it looks like a nut. You give it a little
- 6:08lick and think, hmm, it tastes like a nut. Okay,
- 6:14so you pop it into your mouth and begin to chew.
- 6:20Then the most amazing thing happens. As you chew, you
- 6:26begin to shrink in size, and by the time you
- 6:29stop chewing, you are the same size as the squirrels.
- 6:34Oh my, you are astounded as you come face to
- 6:39face with all of the squirrels. You look around you
- 6:44and you realize that the world looks very different when
- 6:48you're the size of a squirrel. The trees now look
- 6:52like giant skyscrapers, and the stream looks like a mighty river,
- 6:57and the sky, well, the sky looks like it's a
- 7:00million miles away. Oh my goodness me. Red introduces you
- 7:09to his squirrel friends. There is Bushy because he has
- 7:15the bushiest tail of all the squirrels. There is Cyril,
- 7:20who has a bit of a wonky tair because he
- 7:22fell out of a tree when he was little and
- 7:24broke it and it never really mended right. Then there
- 7:29is Penelope. She thinks she's ever so posh and tends
- 7:34to talk with a very posh English accent. Then there
- 7:41is Elvis. Now Elvis thinks he is a great singer.
- 7:46He isn't. He has a terrible singing voice, but it
- 7:50doesn't stop him from singing with great gusto and as
- 7:53loud as he possibly can, much to the annoyance of
- 7:56the other squirrels. And his friends take you over to
- 8:02their tree, a very large tree with little lights draped
- 8:07all over it. Red tells you that every tree is
- 8:12a different squirrel village, and each one is very special
- 8:17and very magical too. They go around the back of
- 8:22the tree and you see a doorway. They open the door,
- 8:27and as they do, you realize that in fact, it's
- 8:30an elevator, and you all pile inside and it begins
- 8:35to move. There are many floors in this tree, and
- 8:41Red tells you that this is their village, and many
- 8:44many squirrels live inside this beautiful tree. The first floor
- 8:51is full of shops, shops that they use and Red
- 8:55tells you that their favorite shop is the fruit and nutshop.
- 8:59He says it has a lot of different fruits and
- 9:02all different varieties of nuts. The second floor has a
- 9:07gym and a swimming pool. They all love this floor.
- 9:13The third floor is the school for the young squirrels,
- 9:18and Red tells you that they still go to school,
- 9:20but they don't like it very much because all they
- 9:23really want to do is be outside, playing and exploring.
- 9:37The fourth floor is the most amazing garden of herbs, spices,
- 9:43and lots and lots of flowers. And you think it's
- 9:47a bit odd that they have a garden inside the tree,
- 9:51but the squirrels think it's normal because this is their
- 9:53home and they love it. The fifth floor is where
- 10:00all the tiny squirrel houses are, and there are many,
- 10:03many of them, all different shapes and sizes. The sixth
- 10:10floor is full of cafes and looks out over the
- 10:13forest from the many windows all around it. This is
- 10:18where they are taking you for a nice cup of
- 10:20tea or lemonade if you prefer that instead. They also
- 10:25have big cream cakes and juicy fruit to snack on too,
- 10:29not forgetting the endless supply of nuts that the squirrels
- 10:33love so very much. On the final floor live the
- 10:39Mare and the mares of the village. They are the
- 10:43ones who are in charge of everything, and they have
- 10:46the biggest house of all. In fact, they have the
- 10:49whole of the top floor to themselves, kind of like
- 10:53a penthouse. Sweet, and they are very lucky to live there.
- 11:00Begins to sing, and he sings so loudly that it's
- 11:04hurting your ears. Red tells him to stop so that
- 11:07you can all talk together, but he carries on humming anyway.
- 11:12It's like you just can't stop. You don't mind, really,
- 11:17in fact, you really rather like it. So for a
- 11:22few moments, sit in the caffe with your new friends
- 11:27and enjoy yourself, get to know them, have some fun,
- 11:34and when you finish here, go and explore their village
- 11:37with them. Find out what it's really like to live
- 11:42in a tree. And remember, you too are the size
- 11:47of a squirrel, and you can fit anywhere inside this tree.
- 11:51So go enjoy yourself with the squirrels. S h. Now
- 14:45it's time for you to return to your own home.
- 14:50You can always return to visit your new squirrel friends
- 14:55anytime you wish. Next time, maybe you can play some
- 15:02games with them, or maybe you can bring them a gift.
- 15:07Speaker 1: They would like that.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So for now, say goodbye to Red, to Penelope, to Cyril,
- 15:18to Bushy, and to Elvis the singing squirrel. You leave
- 15:25the tree, and as you do, you begin to grow
- 15:28larger and larger, and Cyril shouts.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Don't worry, next time you visit will make you small again.
- 15:39Speaker 2: You laugh out loud and can't wait for your next visit,
- 15:43your next adventure with these amazing squirrels who have now
- 15:48become your friends. And now you're back in your very
- 15:55own bed, feeling so peaceful, so calm, feeling so sleepy
- 16:03now and you are drifting deeper and deeper into the
- 16:10most wonderful night's sleep. So snuggle down and you feel
- 16:18so safe and protected. And when you wake up in
- 16:23the morning, you will feel completely refreshed, bright and alert
- 16:31and ready to begin a new day ahead. And each
- 16:36night from now on you will sleep better and better,
- 16:42deeper and deeper. Noin night to s.
