Latest / On Air with Ryan Seacrest / Is Charli XCX Quitting Music for Acting? Here's What She Said
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Tanya. This is interesting. Charlie XCX says she wants to
- 0:03Speaker 1: just quit. She would quit all of it right, music, songwriting,
- 0:06Speaker 1: everything for a new career path. What's she saying?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Why?
- 0:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:08Speaker 2: So she was on the Feeding, Starving celebrity series. It's
- 0:11Speaker 2: basically like a chaotic cooking show with a casual celebrity interview.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's on YouTube, and Charlie just played herself in the moment,
- 0:19Speaker 2: which was a mockumentary about her experience during the BRAT release.
- 0:23Speaker 2: So during this episode, Charlie was asked do you want
- 0:26Speaker 2: to act more, to which Charlie replied, yes, are you kidding?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I want to quit music, babe and act. So Charlie
- 0:34Speaker 2: is thirty three and I actually read this stat on
- 0:36Speaker 2: International Women's Day that the average female has a career
- 0:39Speaker 2: pivot at thirty nine and the average female entrepreneur starts
- 0:42Speaker 2: at forty two. So I found it interesting that after
- 0:44Speaker 2: all the success that Charlie has had as a musician,
- 0:47Speaker 2: she wants to quit and fully move into acting.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I've heard some people get burnt out
- 0:53Speaker 1: on one type of thing. It's still the same kind
- 0:55Speaker 1: of career. It's still the entertainment show based career, performance career.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So but a lot of people get burn't out on something,
- 1:00Speaker 1: they go do something else, they say they're going to retire,
- 1:02Speaker 1: they quit, and they come back to it. Some she
- 1:04Speaker 1: just needs a breather.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Well, I think Bratt was like so successful, you know,
- 1:08Speaker 2: like it was just like a movement in and of itself.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And I think sometimes with music it can be more
- 1:13Speaker 2: personal and acting. You can kind of like escape in
- 1:16Speaker 2: your something else on you fun. So I feel like
- 1:19Speaker 2: that's kind of maybe where it's coming from with her.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well, if I were to walk away, does not do
- 1:24Speaker 1: what I've been doing for so long? Or not do it?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Do you know? I would work at the farmer's market.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I would have a kiosk at the Farmer's market. I
- 1:31Speaker 1: think those are the nicest people on the planet. You're
