  Speaker 1: a little background, the Apostle James was just murdered by
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: King Herod. He was ruling in Judea at this time,
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: and so it pleased the Jews, and so he thought, okay,
• 3:17
  Speaker 1: well if this pleased then't well, I'm gonna go after Peter.
• 3:19
  Speaker 1: So he went. He arrested Peter, and he was gonna
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: bring Peter out so that they could have an execution.

  Speaker 1: But Peter was rescued by an angel. The church gathered
• 3:32
  Speaker 1: together and they prayed for Peter, and he was delivered hallelujah.

  Speaker 1: So this is the reaction. These are the events that
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: unfold right after his deliverance. The ain't At first Peter

  Speaker 1: thought he was. He saw a vision. He thought he
• 3:52
  Speaker 1: was dreaming. But then when the angel disappeared, then he
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: realized that this was real, and so let's die right

  Speaker 1: he came to the house of Marrying the mother of John,

  Speaker 1: whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.

  Speaker 1: And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate,

  Speaker 1: the girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: Peter's voice. Because of her gladness, she did not open
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: the gate, ran in and announced that Peter stood before
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: the gate. They said to her, you are beside yourself. Yes,
• 4:41
  Speaker 1: she kept insisting that it was so, so they said
• 4:47
  Speaker 1: it is his angel. Now. Peter continued knocking, and when
• 4:52
  Speaker 1: they opened the gate and saw him, they were astonished,
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: But motioning to them that he with his hands to
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had
• 5:05
  Speaker 1: brought him out of the prison and he said, go
• 5:10
  Speaker 1: tell these things to James and to the brethren. And

  Speaker 1: he departed and went to another place. Allelujah, man, this

  Speaker 1: is amazing. I love the way our God works. Allelujah.

  Speaker 1: All right, let's break it on down, so I'll speak

  Speaker 1: it up in verse twelve. So when they had considered this,

  Speaker 1: house of Mary. Excuse me, So when he had considered this,

  Speaker 1: he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John,

  Speaker 1: whose surname was Mark or Mary or Many were gathered

  Speaker 1: together praying. Now, Peter didn't run away at this point.

  Speaker 1: He didn't hide in fear after being delivered. Instead, he

  Speaker 1: went exactly where he knew prayer was happening. The early

  Speaker 1: Church understood something modern believers often forget. Prayer was their
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: first response, not the last resort. Hey, man, he went
• 6:27
  Speaker 1: straight to the prayer meeting. How many of us would
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: go through something and as soon as we get out
• 6:34
  Speaker 1: of a situation, we're looking for a prayer meeting, Like

  Speaker 1: is that the first thing on our minds? It should be.

  Speaker 1: It should be we should be looking all over the
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: place for Okay, where is the nearest prayer meeting? And
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: even in church service, you know, we have you know,
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: Sunday morning Bible study, and we have Wednesday Bible study.

  Speaker 1: In all these events, but sometimes when we call prayer,
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: sometimes that is like the lowest attended service in the ministry.

  Speaker 1: Prayer should be the most populated service because that's where
• 7:15
  Speaker 1: our power comes from. Amen. Now Peter knew where the
• 7:23
  Speaker 1: prayer was, right. He wasn't looking for politics, he wasn't
• 7:27
  Speaker 1: looking to protest what was going on, and he was
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: not you know, panicking about the situation. He was in
• 7:37
  Speaker 1: prayer and noticed this wasn't a church building. It was
• 7:44
  Speaker 1: a house that they were in, that they were praying in,
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: and people were already praying before the miracle showed up.
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: Now that's faith. Okay, Let's go to verse thirteen or fourteen.

  Speaker 1: In as Peter knocked at the door of the gate,

  Speaker 1: a girl named Rhoda king to answer when she recognized
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: Peter's voice. Because of her gladness, she did not open

  Speaker 1: Bible doesn't hide human emotion. Rohoda's faith was real, but

  Speaker 1: her response was overwhelmed with joy. She believed enough to
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: recognize the voice, but excitement interrupted obedience. She was like, uh,

  Speaker 1: I'm so excited. She forgot to open up the door.

  Speaker 1: That's funny. Now she heard the answer to prayer, she
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: just didn't open the door. Now, let that preach. How
• 9:02
  Speaker 1: many times have God answered that we got distracted by
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: emotion instead of action. Amen, we cannot allow our emotions
• 9:17
  Speaker 1: to distract us, in our emotions to lead us. I mean,
• 9:24
  Speaker 1: of course we are human another one, but we have
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: to be aware that our emotions can lead us astray.
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: Sometimes not saying that she was led astray, It's just
• 9:43
  Speaker 1: that she was overwhelmed with joy that she forgot to
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: allow the answered prayer to walk through the door right now,
• 9:51
  Speaker 1: verse fifteen. But they said to her, you are besides yourself.
• 9:55
  Speaker 1: Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: said it was his angel. Now, if she did not
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: allow her emotion to override her at this point, this
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: conversation wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't have to insist, she
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: wouldn't have to try to convince, right, because all she
• 10:16
  Speaker 1: had to do was open the door, and Peter would
• 10:18
  Speaker 1: have been standing in the midst of them. Peter would
• 10:22
  Speaker 1: have been right behind her and this conversation wouldn't have happened.
• 10:27
  Speaker 1: So sometimes we can allow our emotions to just you know,
• 10:32
  Speaker 1: allow extra drama that really is not necessary. Okay, So
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: the people praying for Peter's release did not believe the
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: reports when it happened. When he actually was released, they
• 10:50
  Speaker 1: couldn't believe it.
• 10:54
  Speaker 4: They had.

  Speaker 1: Thought that it was is angel, but not faith for
• 11:05
  Speaker 1: answered prayer. Right, They're like, first they said, she's beside herself.

  Speaker 1: Now even if it was his angel, that would have
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: been amazing. And also, now you can't make a doctrine
• 11:22
  Speaker 1: out of something that just kind of happened, right, This
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: just happened off the cuff. It's not a doctor know
• 11:32
  Speaker 1: a new doctrine that I'm starting here. But this is
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: more of a question in my opinion. You know, I
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: always say if I'm gonna give my opinion, I'll let
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: you know. I'm not saying that this say is it Lord?
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: But it's interesting to me that they said that it
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: was his angel. Now, we know that the Word of
• 11:54
  Speaker 1: God gives us angels, and we believe that there's an
• 11:59
  Speaker 1: angel assigned to us, right, we call it our guardian angel.
• 12:06
  Speaker 1: But they're saying that this person was Peter. So does
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: that mean our guardian angel looks like us and sounds
• 12:16
  Speaker 1: like us and talks like us? Right when they were
• 12:20
  Speaker 1: saying it's Peter, but they're saying, no, it's his angel.
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: And first of all, why wouldes angel need to knock
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: at a gate? Right? The angel can just walk into
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: the room. So I don't know, that's interesting. Does our
• 12:35
  Speaker 1: guardian angel look like us and talk like us? Now?
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: Like I said, I don't have chapter versus scripture. This
• 12:42
  Speaker 1: is just my opinion, just an interesting thought by their
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: response to this young lady Amen, now an one, where
• 12:57
  Speaker 1: are we not kind of going off on a rabbit trail? Yeah,
• 13:01
  Speaker 1: people are praying for Peter's release. Now, they were praying,
• 13:06
  Speaker 1: but they were not expecting an answer to it. They
• 13:12
  Speaker 1: had prepared themselves for Peter's death, not his deliverance. And
• 13:17
  Speaker 1: you can kind of understand because they just lost James, right,
• 13:24
  Speaker 1: another heavy hitter, so they thought they were embracing themselves
• 13:29
  Speaker 1: for another impact. And man, I actually I'm glad that
• 13:34
  Speaker 1: Peter wasn't killed, right, because you're taking out some of
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: the big names, these big heavy hitters, right all right?
• 13:43
  Speaker 1: Verse sixteen Now Peter continued knocking, and they opened the
• 13:50
  Speaker 1: door and saw him, and they were astonished. Now this,
• 13:57
  Speaker 1: this astonishment reveals how often God works beyond our expectations,
• 14:06
  Speaker 1: not because of our faith, but because of his grace. Amen.

  Speaker 1: Now Peter kept knocking. Sometimes a miracle doesn't stop just
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: because we doubt God will answer anyway. But imagine how
• 14:23
  Speaker 1: much quicker we'd open the door if expectation matched our
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: prayer life right, we would be able to get through
• 14:33
  Speaker 1: things a lot quicker if our expectation would come up
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: a little higher. Go to the next level, Amen, now,
• 14:42
  Speaker 1: Verse seventeen. But motioning to them with his hands to
• 14:48
  Speaker 1: keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had
• 14:51
  Speaker 1: brought him out of the prison. And he said, go
• 14:56
  Speaker 1: tell these things to James and to the brethren. And

  Speaker 1: he depart and went to another place. Now Peter's wisdom
• 15:08
  Speaker 1: deliverance does not eliminate discernment. God rescues him, but believers
• 15:15
  Speaker 1: must still walk wisely. Right, Peter gives glory to God.

  Speaker 1: Peter strengthens the church, and Peter moves with wisdom. Peter

  Speaker 1: went to another place, and it doesn't tell us exactly

  Speaker 1: where he went. He probably went into hiding for a while.

  Speaker 1: Miracles are not for attention, They are for our testimony. Amen.
