- 0:29Speaker 2: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:33Speaker 2: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm Daniel Mallley along with
- 0:36Speaker 2: Trey Trendholm. Today we start inside the Treehouse with Dallas
- 0:43Speaker 2: is one of the most sinful cities in the entire country,
- 0:47Speaker 2: according to a new study, Trey, would you believe that?
- 0:51Speaker 2: At first site? Yeah, let's dig in. In a recent
- 0:58Speaker 2: study conducted by a wallet Hub, Dallas ranked as one
- 1:01Speaker 2: of the top ten most sinful cities in the United States.
- 1:08Speaker 2: The company compared over one hundred and eighty cities across
- 1:11Speaker 2: seven dimensions of traditionally sinful behaviors, ultimately finding that Dallas
- 1:16Speaker 2: is the eighth most sinful city in the country. Good job, Dallas.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Where do you go? Everybody? Good effort, great, proud of you?
- 1:26Speaker 3: Is it? You know?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Is it good? Oh? I mean it's it's interesting.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:36Speaker 2: San Antonio that was like at twenty three.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, I feel like eighth.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I mean, either clean up your actor or get dirty
- 1:47Speaker 1: or and get in the top five.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Oh, I like it. I like that. Yeah, either get
- 1:52Speaker 2: serious or get clean. Like, take a run at the
- 1:58Speaker 2: number one spot, right, Yeah, you're going to be If
- 2:01Speaker 2: you're gonna be bad, you might as well be the
- 2:03Speaker 2: best at it sort of thing.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I feel like, I don't know.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It was gambling one of the things that they looked at.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I believe that plays a part. So let's uh, let
- 2:16Speaker 2: me give you some of the metrics that they used.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So wallet Hub, primarily known as a personal finance service,
- 2:23Speaker 2: branched into cultural research and did a nationwide study to
- 2:26Speaker 2: determine the country's most sinful cities. The analysis evaluated one
- 2:31Speaker 2: hundred and eighty two cities selected from the one hundred
- 2:33Speaker 2: and fifty most populated metro areas against a complex framework
- 2:37Speaker 2: of thirty seven relevant metrics. Those were categorized into seven
- 2:41Speaker 2: key dimensions designed to reflect the modern interpretation of the
- 2:44Speaker 2: seven deadly sins. One of those anger and hatred, severe incidents,
- 2:51Speaker 2: hostility and violence okay. Number two excesses and vices, rates
- 2:56Speaker 2: of obesity, drug use, and excessive drinking sea tray. Had
- 2:59Speaker 2: you not quit drinking nine years ago, you might have
- 3:02Speaker 2: propelled Dallas into the top five. Number three jealousy, theft
- 3:09Speaker 2: and fraud. Number four greed. They looked at casinos, gambling establishments,
- 3:14Speaker 2: low rates of charitable donations. Yeah. Number five is vanity.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Google search interest in plastic surgery, tanning salons per capita.
- 3:25Speaker 2: That's where I feel like Dallas was very strong. Oh surgery, Yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 2: that's uh huh. Number six lust the density of adult
- 3:34Speaker 2: entertainment establishments, Google search trends for affairs and or adult entertainment.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I feel like that's high on the Dallas list. There
- 3:41Speaker 2: absolutely then laziness, low volunteer rates, average time watching television,
- 3:48Speaker 2: and lack of exercise. Because of this, Because of all
- 3:51Speaker 2: those metrics, based on the seven Deadly Sins, the top
- 3:54Speaker 2: five sinful cities in the US. Number one Las Vegas,
- 3:58Speaker 2: no surprise there. Number two though, so Texas strong Houston.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Houston is making a bid to be the most sinful
- 4:05Speaker 2: city in the United States, coming in number two behind
- 4:08Speaker 2: Las Vegas. Number three La four Philadelphia maybe probably just
- 4:12Speaker 2: because they're all a bunch of dicks. Number five Atlanta.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So there you have the top five. Dallas was eighth.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I think San Antonio was third, So interesting on those
- 4:24Speaker 2: on those fronts. The thing that I don't know is
- 4:27Speaker 2: that when they say Dallas, it says metro area, but
- 4:30Speaker 2: where do they actually cut that off? Because in some
- 4:33Speaker 2: of these studies of some of the suburbs of Dallas
- 4:36Speaker 2: are so big in their own right, they don't get
- 4:39Speaker 2: included in Dallas's stuff. You know, cities like Arlington, for Orth.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, they are their own cities. I mean, granted,
- 4:47Speaker 2: I don't think Solion is going to be folded into
- 4:50Speaker 2: the Dallas numbers here, but you know, I mean they're
- 4:52Speaker 2: also not going to be concerned as on the same
- 4:56Speaker 2: level as these others.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean did they Is it the metro area
- 4:59Speaker 1: or is it just Dallas? I think is uh, but
- 5:03Speaker 1: I can definitely. I mean there's some of those you know,
- 5:06Speaker 1: Dallas hit high on uh, you know, charity. I'd say
- 5:10Speaker 1: Dallas is one of the better cities and stuff like that.
- 5:13Speaker 1: But vanity, adultery, adult entertainment.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I think I I.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Think we're still top ten and like strip clubs per capita.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Oh, we got to be at least top three.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I think we.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I mean I would I would say Vegas, Miami, Dallas
- 5:31Speaker 2: and some order in there.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You know, do you know what typically is the number
- 5:35Speaker 3: one city? Tampa Bay?
- 5:38Speaker 2: The fuck? How how a lot of clubs? Is that?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Why our Buddy Diego splits time between DFW and Tampa Bay.
- 5:53Speaker 2: That a boy d Really, that is such a random
- 6:00Speaker 2: Tampa Bay.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I remember seeing that list years ago and
- 6:05Speaker 1: it was like number one per capita Tampa Bay.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I was like, wow, I've never been, so I don't know.
- 6:12Speaker 2: But but when you consider how often Tampa Bay gets
- 6:17Speaker 2: a Super Bowl, it kind of makes sense. And all
- 6:23Speaker 2: those all those former players with Super Bowl tickets and
- 6:26Speaker 2: TV gigs got to have someplace to blow off steam.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Kind of like that time we saw Chris Carter at
- 6:30Speaker 2: the Platinum Club. And it's not like we're speaking out
- 6:34Speaker 2: of turn here. I mean, it's not like he was
- 6:35Speaker 2: trying to hide his face.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean there there was a time where you
- 6:42Speaker 1: could go to a number of the local gentlemen's club
- 6:45Speaker 1: and see many a pro.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Athlete, many a pro athlete, many many.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Rosters.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It's it's it's defense night at at the lodge.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:03Speaker 2: The offense is gathering down the street of baby dolls.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that is exactly where.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Special teams is at the clubhouse because they can't afford
- 7:15Speaker 2: the nicer.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Spots offense and and you know, sometimes uh management, uh
- 7:21Speaker 1: flash ownership would would would partake as well.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, mm hmmmm hmmmm. It's the team unity in
- 7:29Speaker 2: Dallas is is a different thing compared to other places.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Like like, something tells me the Mara family that owns
- 7:38Speaker 2: and runs the Giants aren't hanging out partying with the
- 7:41Speaker 2: team like the like the Joneses do.
- 7:43Speaker 3: No. But you know who would want to go to
- 7:47Speaker 3: a strip club with Eli? You know what?
- 7:52Speaker 2: I kind of would just just to see how he's dopey.
- 7:59Speaker 2: He looked, I don't be playing football. Can you imagine
- 8:01Speaker 2: him trying to tip or did a left Like even
- 8:09Speaker 2: Peyton would roll in be like, you can't even do
- 8:11Speaker 2: that better than me.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Sit there, that dumbface.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 8:22Speaker 1: She's trying to touch me where I pee?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Eli, just just hit the check down, go to the bathroom.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Just save yourself. Also, also a man was arrested for
- 8:40Speaker 2: carjacking then stealing the same car. Again, this did not
- 8:45Speaker 2: happen in Dallas, so this did not affect the city
- 8:47Speaker 2: of Dallas's sinful rating. In Waterbury, Connecticut, a man was
- 8:52Speaker 2: arrested after allegedly carjacking a woman in November, then stealing
- 8:57Speaker 2: the vehicle back after police recovered it In a post
- 9:01Speaker 2: on Facebook, the Waterbury Police Department said Aaron Rodriguez de
- 9:05Speaker 2: los Santos, a twenty six year old city resident, which
- 9:08Speaker 2: was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle first offense
- 9:11Speaker 2: and two counts of possession of narcotic with intent to sell.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Police said the arrest comes in connection with an incident
- 9:17Speaker 2: that began November twenty third, when a twenty fifteen Honda
- 9:20Speaker 2: Civic was stolen. They said Rodriguez de Losentos followed the
- 9:23Speaker 2: victim home and as she exited her vehicle, pusher took
- 9:26Speaker 2: the key fob and stole the car. Police said. The
- 9:28Speaker 2: vehicle later recovered by police, but he still had the
- 9:32Speaker 2: vehicle's keyfob and stole the vehicle a second time. On Wednesday.
- 9:38Speaker 2: About an hour later, officers with the Auto Theft Task Force,
- 9:41Speaker 2: in the job that they probably thought was the easiest
- 9:43Speaker 2: they'll ever have in their careers, saw the stolen Civic
- 9:47Speaker 2: at a gas station and the man was arrested without incident.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Then he was also found in possession of fentonyl and
- 9:52Speaker 2: crack cocaine. So he's in trouble times two now. But
- 9:58Speaker 2: doesn't this beg the question I will what is it
- 10:02Speaker 2: about that Honda Civic he loved so much, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 2: dependability something to be said for that. I mean, don't
- 10:14Speaker 2: get me wrong, twenty fifteen is a good fine, fine
- 10:16Speaker 2: year for a Honda Civic.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Uh but does it?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Where did the police department go, oh, hey, we'll take that.
- 10:27Speaker 3: You know, where's the fob?
- 10:31Speaker 2: So not everyone knows this, but we know we know
- 10:35Speaker 2: enough police officers in our lives. We know enough police
- 10:38Speaker 2: officers in our lives to know that sometimes they make mistakes,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and sometimes they don't get all the pieces of evidence
- 10:46Speaker 2: that they were supposed to or, in the case of
- 10:49Speaker 2: a video I saw the other day, sometimes they leave
- 10:52Speaker 2: their AR fifteen on top of the car next to
- 10:55Speaker 2: the light bars they drive around town that was not Dallas,
- 10:58Speaker 2: by the ways.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I know.
- 11:03Speaker 2: They are not perfect, but they do try. And in
- 11:07Speaker 2: this case, I imagine it was two officers and one
- 11:11Speaker 2: of them thought the other one was gonna get that
- 11:12Speaker 2: key fob, and instead it was returned to the guy
- 11:17Speaker 2: when he bailed out of jail the first time.
- 11:19Speaker 1: You know, I mean, that's I mean, I feel like
- 11:21Speaker 1: that's for the second offense. I feel like that's his defense.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I mean, you know, you just go to judge. You go,
- 11:27Speaker 1: what'd you expect?
- 11:28Speaker 3: You know?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, if you left crack with a crackhead, they're gonna
- 11:33Speaker 1: spoke it.
- 11:35Speaker 2: And at that point, I don't know if I can
- 11:36Speaker 2: really blame him, you know, I mean, because if you
- 11:39Speaker 2: get arrested and this is an interesting legal question, get
- 11:42Speaker 2: he gets arrested for stealing this car, right, but then
- 11:47Speaker 2: the police returned the key to him that he's stole,
- 11:50Speaker 2: that's supposed to be key evidence in the first crime.
- 11:53Speaker 2: If they return it back to him, couldn't he then say, well,
- 11:56Speaker 2: it seemed to me like the police wanted me to have.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It, or they were they were framing him.
- 12:08Speaker 2: It's a beautiful frame job. He's just sitting there posing.

- 14:52Speaker 2: cookdfw dot com. Trey, we talked yesterday a little bit
- 14:58Speaker 2: about how over the weekend Tara and I watched Santa
- 15:03Speaker 2: Claus the movie, not the Santa Claus starring Tim Allen,
- 15:07Speaker 2: but Santa Claus the movie, which came out in the
- 15:11Speaker 2: late eighties. I need to pull up to see exactly
- 15:13Speaker 2: what year and everything. But this starred Dudley Moore, who
- 15:18Speaker 2: had a starring role as Patch, one of the elves
- 15:20Speaker 2: in the film. Also John Lithgow as the bad guy
- 15:23Speaker 2: in the film named Beez, head of Bez Toys. David
- 15:27Speaker 2: Huddleston played Santa Claus. And there's even there's a couple
- 15:36Speaker 2: of kids in the movie. One of them, her name
- 15:38Speaker 2: is Carrie Heim. She plays Cornelia. She's one of those
- 15:42Speaker 2: like eighties actresses. She plays a little girl in the movie.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You would recognize her if you start you'd be like, oh, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: that girl. So anyway, that was one of the movies
- 15:49Speaker 2: we watched over the weekend, kind of getting that Christmas spirit,
- 15:53Speaker 2: and I noticed it. It's Rotten Tomatoes score was hot garbage.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It was basically I think it was sixty seven percent
- 16:04Speaker 2: on Rotten Tomatoes. And look, I get it. I can
- 16:07Speaker 2: see how certain things about the movie may not hold
- 16:10Speaker 2: up compared to some newer films. So I get that,
- 16:14Speaker 2: but I have to bet I was a little surprised
- 16:16Speaker 2: at that score. No, Trey, you've never seen it, But
- 16:20Speaker 2: what would you say, is the best Christmas movie of
- 16:23Speaker 2: all time? Did I Break You?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Scrooged or The Ref?
- 16:40Speaker 2: So two great ones, but unfortunately, according to IMDb rankings,
- 16:45Speaker 2: they did not make the top ten.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I'm sure those swats are gonna put elf somewhere.
- 16:53Speaker 2: You really hate that movie?
- 16:55Speaker 1: It is I it's an awful movie.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Wow, that's a hot take. Why is it such an
- 17:06Speaker 2: awful movie?
- 17:08Speaker 3: It's cheesy, predictable, stupid.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I find Will Ferrell just and I love him and
- 17:18Speaker 1: a lot of things he does, but I find him
- 17:20Speaker 1: just over the top and annoying.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Okay, I've never even gotten through the entire movie. It's
- 17:30Speaker 3: it sucks that bad.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You hate it that bad. It's not that it sucks,
- 17:36Speaker 2: you just think it sucks. You hate it, You hate
- 17:38Speaker 2: it with a passion. All Right, I am pulling up,
- 17:43Speaker 2: according to IMDb rankings, the movies you just said, because
- 17:47Speaker 2: I want to see how they compare. Because someone put
- 17:50Speaker 2: together the list of the best Christmas movies of all time,
- 17:55Speaker 2: ranked by IMDb score, and your guesses of screw Rouged
- 18:00Speaker 2: and The Ref did not make the top ten. So
- 18:04Speaker 2: I have here the best Christmas movies of all time,
- 18:07Speaker 2: ranked by IMDb's score. Trey. You will be happy to
- 18:11Speaker 2: learn that Elf did not make this top ten list.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It has an IMDb score of seven point one.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Scrooged six point nine also did not make the top ten.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And The Ref another favorite of both of ours, starring
- 18:33Speaker 2: Dennis Leary, Kevin Spacey, Judy Davis, phenomenal film. One of
- 18:36Speaker 2: my favorite all time lines in movie history is in
- 18:39Speaker 2: this film also only ranks a six point nine. I
- 18:43Speaker 2: think that is a poor number, not because of the film,
- 18:48Speaker 2: but because clearly of the people doing the ratings, they
- 18:51Speaker 2: have screwed up majorly. Anyway, Santa Claus, the movie from
- 18:57Speaker 2: nineteen eighty five that I was telling you about, six
- 19:00Speaker 2: point three on the IMDb scale, So those movies did
- 19:05Speaker 2: not make the top ten. As far as the best
- 19:07Speaker 2: Christmas movies of all time at number ten, Love actually
- 19:11Speaker 2: with a seven point five. This is a Christmas movie
- 19:14Speaker 2: I still have not seen, and in the last couple
- 19:18Speaker 2: of years, I'm starting to see a lot of hate
- 19:20Speaker 2: growing for this one. Like there are people that are
- 19:22Speaker 2: very much like not because they question whether or not
- 19:25Speaker 2: it's a Christmas movie or whatever, but they just hate
- 19:27Speaker 2: the film, like like I guess some of the characters
- 19:29Speaker 2: and are just really terrible.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah, uh, it's a it's not the Notebook, but.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Jesus well, it's I can see why people kind of
- 19:44Speaker 1: hate it, but it's not it's worth seeing one time.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So I think one of the reasons why people or
- 19:51Speaker 2: it has like this ground swell of hate is because
- 19:54Speaker 2: and again I've never seen it, so I don't know,
- 19:55Speaker 2: so help me here. The most Like, there's a whole
- 19:58Speaker 2: meme that came out of the film with Andrew Lincoln,
- 20:01Speaker 2: best known as you know, playing what's his name in
- 20:03Speaker 2: Walking Dead is at the door of Kiera Knightley's house,
- 20:07Speaker 2: and I get he's shown he's written out on Q
- 20:10Speaker 2: cards his feelings for her and that he loves her.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But he's doing that because I guess she's married to
- 20:14Speaker 2: his best friend. So this is just really awful, Like
- 20:17Speaker 2: he's he's torpedoing this marriage and he's stabbing his best
- 20:21Speaker 2: buddy in the back, all in the name of you know,
- 20:24Speaker 2: Christmas joy and selfishness, I guess. So that's one of
- 20:27Speaker 2: the reasons why he gets a lot of you know, hate. Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 2: but love actually number ten seven point five my movie,
- 20:35Speaker 2: possibly one of my favorite movies of all time. If
- 20:37Speaker 2: you put a gun to my head and I have
- 20:39Speaker 2: to choose a favorite movie of all time, I would
- 20:41Speaker 2: probably be I'd probably say National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. That
- 20:46Speaker 2: is seven point five, good for number nine in the list.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But then there's number eight, The Bishop's Wife. I don't
- 20:53Speaker 2: think I've ever heard of this. It came out in
- 20:54Speaker 2: nineteen forty seven and has a seven point six. Okay,
- 20:58Speaker 2: I've Nonumber seven. White Christmas with Danny F and K
- 21:03Speaker 2: came out in nineteen fifty four, also scored a seven
- 21:05Speaker 2: point six okay. Then Home Alone okay, seven point seven.
- 21:13Speaker 2: The Nightmare Before Christmas seven point nine, good to start
- 21:17Speaker 2: the top five. We watched it a handful of years ago.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I mean, I get why people love it. I didn't
- 21:25Speaker 2: love it, but I couldn't see why others would.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I it has been so long, I've that's a movie
- 21:36Speaker 3: I need to go back, and rewatch, I just don't remember.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Number four is another one of your least favorites. A
- 21:41Speaker 2: Christmas Story seven point nine.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that is. I don't understand why that's
- 21:48Speaker 3: a classic.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And you watched it as a kid and still don't
- 21:52Speaker 2: like it, because you know, like Raj And there are
- 21:56Speaker 2: others that people that don't like that movie, and it's
- 21:58Speaker 2: usually because they didn't see it as a kid. Typically,
- 22:01Speaker 2: if you see it as a kid, you like it.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Trey is the exception here. Then we go to the
- 22:06Speaker 2: top three. Miracle on thirty fourth Street came out in
- 22:08Speaker 2: nineteen forty seven, still hold strong with a seven point
- 22:11Speaker 2: nine on IMDb.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I've never seen that.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I don't think I have either that. I've just seen
- 22:17Speaker 2: like little clips and stuff throughout the years, and they've
- 22:20Speaker 2: remade that a couple of times. Number two, a Christmas
- 22:24Speaker 2: Carol from nineteen fifty one is sitting with an eight
- 22:27Speaker 2: point one. I don't think I've seen that version.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I now, I would say I would have if
- 22:36Speaker 1: you said the George C. Scott one from the eighties,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I would have been like, yeah, okay, I agree with that.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've seen that one a couple of times.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Very good, and i'd even take Patrick Stewart version.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah mm hmm. And then number one, No Surprise, It's
- 22:51Speaker 2: a Wonderful Life came out in nineteen forty six, holding
- 22:53Speaker 2: strong eight point six.
- 22:56Speaker 3: So I have never seen that one all the way through.
- 23:01Speaker 2: You know, it's one of those that's so iconic, and
- 23:03Speaker 2: you see so many clips and things throughout your life,
- 23:05Speaker 2: it feels like you've seen it, even if you've never
- 23:09Speaker 2: sat through the entire thing from beginning to end. I
- 23:11Speaker 2: think the only reason I've seen it from beginning to
- 23:14Speaker 2: end is because it was we were forced to watch
- 23:17Speaker 2: it when I was in high school. My senior year,
- 23:20Speaker 2: we took the blowoff of all blowoff senior courses, Theater four,
- 23:24Speaker 2: i e. Movie watching, And you didn't have to take
- 23:28Speaker 2: theater one, two, or three in order to get into
- 23:32Speaker 2: Theater four. I don't even know why they called it
- 23:34Speaker 2: Theater four if you didn't have to take one, two,
- 23:36Speaker 2: or three as prerequisites, whatever the case, but that's you
- 23:40Speaker 2: watched old classic movies. And by god, it was a
- 23:43Speaker 2: blowoff class. But I really enjoyed it. I learned a
- 23:45Speaker 2: lot about movies. We watched Citizen Kane, the Original King Kong,
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's a Wonderful Life, all these movies that I absolutely
- 23:55Speaker 2: never would have watched on my own because they were
- 23:57Speaker 2: old and black and white, and some of them were
- 24:00Speaker 2: silent films, and I'm like, I don't want to watch this.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Is this the same school that you know discourage you
- 24:05Speaker 1: from taking AP courses.
- 24:08Speaker 2: No, that was the middle school that fed into this school.

- 25:23Speaker 2: place to get through traffic than inside the Treehouse. So

- 25:28Speaker 2: even post it on social media, and let's grow together
- 25:32Speaker 2: the Treehouse Show maybe the better way to say it,
- 25:35Speaker 2: and together, let's grow the Treehouse Show. There we go.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Maybe I write that down at some point, but whatever,
- 25:39Speaker 2: as it is, we have a little bit more inside
- 25:41Speaker 2: the Treehouse for today. And I didn't mean to bury this.
- 25:44Speaker 2: It just kind of happened. Also partly because it's mostly
- 25:49Speaker 2: kind of a guy talk show, so we don't really
- 25:52Speaker 2: play many birthing videos on the show. But this one's
- 25:55Speaker 2: so good that I just felt like it needed to
- 25:58Speaker 2: be shared. Trey Brow But take a deep breath, It'll
- 26:01Speaker 2: be okay, but also plug your ears right now?
- 26:11Speaker 7: What three?
- 26:19Speaker 2: So here we have an intake room at Dallas Regional
- 26:22Speaker 2: Medical Center in Mesquite. A young woman is in a wheelchair,
- 26:28Speaker 2: writhing in pain, screaming that you can hear, and she's
- 26:30Speaker 2: sitting next to an intake lady who could not give
- 26:34Speaker 2: less of an f the pain and discomfort that this
- 26:38Speaker 2: woman is going through. I'm going to start this back
- 26:42Speaker 2: at the top. Here we go, right now?
- 26:53Speaker 7: What three? Here's your laying in her doctor.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I've never been pregnant and I never will be pregnant,
- 27:13Speaker 2: but I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't just be asking
- 27:16Speaker 2: intake questions to a woman who's going through labor. That
- 27:19Speaker 2: doesn't seem like the best time to me, especially if
- 27:22Speaker 2: as in she said, it's in her ass. Yeah, I
- 27:28Speaker 2: mean she's what she said. This is her third kid,
- 27:31Speaker 2: so I mean she's had two the normal way as
- 27:33Speaker 2: far as we know. So if it's in her ass,
- 27:35Speaker 2: I think she's gonna know. I mean, look, if you
- 27:40Speaker 2: get a woman who's wheeled into your intake area at
- 27:43Speaker 2: the er and she says she's about to live, she's
- 27:46Speaker 2: about to deliver a but baby, stop asking her questions
- 27:49Speaker 2: and get her into an actual room.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Or you know, if they're just if they're screaming and
- 27:55Speaker 1: writhing in pain, you know, it seems like you would
- 28:00Speaker 1: attend to that first and then and worry about paperwork later.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yeah, because look, I mean, once they start giving birth,
- 28:07Speaker 2: they're pretty much committed to the hospital. They're not getting out.
- 28:10Speaker 2: You can, you can hit them with the paperwork anytime.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Well, and they're kind of giving you a deposit.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Yes, very much. So at the very least you'll be
- 28:24Speaker 2: able to hit him with the cleaning fee.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember the m I remember the story came
- 28:34Speaker 1: out last week and I was like, oh, but it's ugly.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yeah, breathe it out, breathe it out. Yeah, Actually, are
- 28:52Speaker 2: your patients like this?
- 28:53Speaker 7: Adjust the black ones?
- 28:55Speaker 2: Woo, there it is, And the white intake lady just
- 28:59Speaker 2: ignores that question, just like she's ignoring the black mother
- 29:02Speaker 2: that's about to give birth in the middle of this
- 29:05Speaker 2: er intake. Now that that has been introduced into this story.
- 29:13Speaker 2: The baby was born twelve minutes later after this video
- 29:16Speaker 2: was taken, and the hospital worker has since been fired.
- 29:23Speaker 2: So this video went viral, and the hospital at the
- 29:26Speaker 2: center of this controversy said the individual shown in the footage.
- 29:30Speaker 2: The lady who's asking the questions and couldn't seem to
- 29:33Speaker 2: care any less for this woman is no longer employed
- 29:36Speaker 2: at the hospital. And this is my favorite part. New
- 29:39Speaker 2: training programs have been launched. Look, I mean, at a
- 29:45Speaker 2: certain point, there's only so much training you can do
- 29:48Speaker 2: as a hospital, and I realize that's just a cover
- 29:51Speaker 2: your ass attorney thing to have new training programs. In effect,
- 29:57Speaker 2: you can't make someone care about somebody else if they
- 30:00Speaker 2: just don't.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Well you you know, I've been to an emergency room
- 30:07Speaker 1: once or twice and generally, uh, if you're bleeding, uh,
- 30:14Speaker 1: have some kind of you know, spasm, uh whatever, heart attack, labor,
- 30:23Speaker 1: they generally rush you right in and attend to you
- 30:25Speaker 1: and then you know, you can worry about paperwork later.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 30:29Speaker 1: If you're there for a boo boo, then they might
- 30:32Speaker 1: you know, make you go through intake.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But but a babe usually gets you right through.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But you know, and it's it's funny and in this
- 30:45Speaker 1: day and age, that's got to hurt that hospital all
- 30:48Speaker 1: all around.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and look, I mean Dallas Regional Medical Center
- 30:54Speaker 2: of Mesquite is not going to be high on the
- 30:56Speaker 2: list of hospitals that a number of mothers are going
- 30:59Speaker 2: to say, that's right, want to have a baby. But
- 31:01Speaker 2: you know what, not everyone gets to choose the hospital,
- 31:06Speaker 2: you know. And in this case, she actually had According
- 31:10Speaker 2: to the story, this mother had everything all planned out,
- 31:12Speaker 2: this is her third kid, had everything arranged with the doctor,
- 31:16Speaker 2: her due date, some of the things that they're asking her,
- 31:18Speaker 2: when your due date the eleventh, When are you having
- 31:20Speaker 2: the kid? Now? They had it all set up. Everything
- 31:22Speaker 2: was suposed to be ready to go, but she just
- 31:24Speaker 2: couldn't get to her whole birthing plan because the intake.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Lady wouldn't let her through. The hospital said in a statement,
- 31:30Speaker 2: the safety of our patients is always our top priority,
- 31:33Speaker 2: and we're grateful for the high quality, compassionate care teams
- 31:35Speaker 2: right every day, deeply committed honoring blah blah blah blah blah.
- 31:39Speaker 2: The individual showing in the video did not reflect our
- 31:40Speaker 2: values or uphold our standards, and it is no longer
- 31:42Speaker 2: employed at Dallas Regional Medical Center. That's not going to
- 31:46Speaker 2: stop the impending lawsuit because it's sharks smell blood in
- 31:53Speaker 2: the water and lawyers smell money in the water or
- 31:55Speaker 2: in this case, in the after birth.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Yeah, at the very least, they'll pay some thing just
- 32:00Speaker 3: to make it go away.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yep, they'll settle this, without a doubt. They don't want this,
- 32:04Speaker 2: They don't want that video being played for a jury.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Days after the nurse is firing, the attorney for the
- 32:12Speaker 2: young mother spoke to NBC five. According to her legal team,
- 32:15Speaker 2: birth that the Mesquite hospital was planned. They knew she
- 32:18Speaker 2: was coming, she gave notice, she was actually on her
- 32:20Speaker 2: way in. She was in active labor. But more egregious
- 32:23Speaker 2: is that she actually was scheduled to be induced at
- 32:26Speaker 2: this facility. That's according to the attorney. Medical malpractice and
- 32:30Speaker 2: negligence attorney Sarah Raisch said Jones gave birth at the
- 32:34Speaker 2: hospital soon after the video was recorded, in is now
- 32:36Speaker 2: home recovering with her child. That child's college fund is
- 32:41Speaker 2: going to look very nice.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 2: In the meantime, let's enjoy the risk a little more
- 32:47Speaker 2: of this gem of a video. Oh, now she's on
- 32:58Speaker 2: the phone with somebody her Yeah, customer services pre pregnancies.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Two babies at Alon is not good. I bet you
- 33:18Speaker 2: y'all listen next time. She's not wrong about that, delivering
- 33:23Speaker 2: at this hospital.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Your ass should have changed, aftirs.
- 33:30Speaker 2: That's just what she wants to hear. She wants to
- 33:32Speaker 2: hear her mom telling her, I told you.
- 33:34Speaker 6: So this This sounds like your mom, Drey. Oh yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 6: are you about to give birth on the floor of
- 33:45Speaker 6: this waiting room?
- 33:46Speaker 2: You know what I told you? So? You shouldn't have
- 33:48Speaker 2: done this hospital.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I told you not to have a heart attack here.
- 33:55Speaker 2: The good news is this young this young mother has
- 33:57Speaker 2: a hell of a birthing video for her third child.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah, oh it's you know.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And nurses are in general underappreciated, like they they do
- 34:18Speaker 1: miraculous things.
- 34:20Speaker 2: But and we don't know that this that this in turn,
- 34:23Speaker 2: in turn, Jesus, we don't know if this intake person
- 34:27Speaker 2: is a nurse. Sometimes these are just employees. They have
- 34:30Speaker 2: their job, they date. I'm the intake person. I got
- 34:33Speaker 2: to ask the questions. I don't know if if that's
- 34:34Speaker 2: a nurse or some level of nurse or not. But
- 34:40Speaker 2: if so, she's not a very good one. She does
- 34:44Speaker 2: seem to be a very strict intake coordinator though she
- 34:47Speaker 2: is not going to let she is not going to
- 34:49Speaker 2: let some stup, some stupid birthing mother get in the
- 34:52Speaker 2: way of her asking her questions, are you in any
- 34:58Speaker 2: pain right now?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah, there's got to be another job far more suited.
- 35:11Speaker 2: For her, you know, waitress, Both of those, Both of
- 35:17Speaker 2: those would be much better than the job she had.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Uh And honestly, after this video, I don't think she'll
- 35:22Speaker 2: be able to get a job as an intern as
- 35:24Speaker 2: any I keep saying, in turn, as an intake person ever.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Again, not without some you know, probably change of hair.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Move move some place with low internet quality.
- 35:43Speaker 2: And a lot fewer questions on there.
- 35:45Speaker 3: For Yeah, this is.
- 35:49Speaker 2: A lot better my last job. I had like thirty questions.
- 35:51Speaker 2: It was stupid. It was great for all things Treehouse.
