- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Welcome to deg XAM. I'm Kindannie Stevens.
- 0:23Speaker 1: As we get ready for training camp, it's now mandatory
- 0:25Speaker 1: mini camp. OTAs are behind us. Brian Sexton and John
- 0:28Speaker 1: Oser are with me today. We'll get right into big things.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Early dismissal is our first big thing because while it
- 0:33Speaker 1: is normally mandatory mini camp, it's not mandatory for everyone
- 0:37Speaker 1: this time around. Does Peterson excusing some of the veterans
- 0:41Speaker 1: on this team and some of the other players that
- 0:43Speaker 1: have been here during OTAs, So it's mostly rookies and
- 0:46Speaker 1: younger players, some working back from injury.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Brian, why do you think it's so.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Important for Doug Peterson to be able to do this
- 0:53Speaker 1: Let some of those veterans and earlier players go, those
- 0:55Speaker 1: players go earlier.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Well, it was a couple of didd voice to look
- 0:57Speaker 3: at it. How about this angle.
- 0:59Speaker 4: The science it's behind training in preparation is so acute.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I mean, they know exactly what kind of work these
- 1:06Speaker 4: guys got done, and because of the technology that they
- 1:10Speaker 4: have with a variety of different tools, they know how
- 1:13Speaker 4: much work they want to get from each player and
- 1:15Speaker 4: save their bodies for training camp and into the preseason.
- 1:19Speaker 4: They want to be very meticulous about this. So for
- 1:21Speaker 4: Doug to get all the work done, all that he
- 1:24Speaker 4: needed to get from these guys in phase one, two
- 1:27Speaker 4: and three in the OTAs, no reason to take extra
- 1:29Speaker 4: pressure on the body and have these guys have to
- 1:32Speaker 4: miss some time in August. You got it done, check
- 1:35Speaker 4: the box and move on.
- 1:36Speaker 5: I'll look at it the way I look at most
- 1:38Speaker 5: offseason stuff. They let Trevor go. Beyond that, nobody who
- 1:43Speaker 5: left was all that important for them to be here
- 1:46Speaker 5: at OTAs anyway. So, and I'm kidding a little bit,
- 1:49Speaker 5: but all the guys who left and who were dismissed
- 1:53Speaker 5: were veterans who had been around all off season, except
- 1:57Speaker 5: for like Ronald Darby and Mitch Morris, that their guys
- 2:00Speaker 5: had been in the league forever. They'd already been through
- 2:02Speaker 5: OTA's what's three more days gonna do?
- 2:04Speaker 1: One of the faces that was a veteran that we
- 2:06Speaker 1: saw for the first time yesterday our second big thing
- 2:09Speaker 1: forty one returns.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Josh Allen was.
- 2:10Speaker 1: In town after training in the off.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Season in Arizona.
- 2:13Speaker 1: He's back here for mandatory mini camp and he said
- 2:15Speaker 1: he's ready to get going.
- 2:19Speaker 6: I decided to be back. There was a Goodford. Jay
- 2:22Speaker 6: did the work with some of the young guys. You know,
- 2:25Speaker 6: let's let them see. You know this is this is
- 2:30Speaker 6: everybody's the real deal. But this is the real deal
- 2:32Speaker 6: here and if you want to get to here, come on, John.
- 2:38Speaker 1: When you look at this, is there any concern that
- 2:39Speaker 1: Josh Allen wasn't here? And do you think he'll be
- 2:41Speaker 1: all right with training on the side and then coming
- 2:43Speaker 1: in for training camp?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Was there any concern that he wasn't to hear a Kai,
- 2:46Speaker 3: I think you know me that. No.
- 2:49Speaker 5: No, he was in the Pro Bowl last year. He
- 2:52Speaker 5: did basically the same preparation last year as he did
- 2:57Speaker 5: this year. He's in a elite player. With the elite players,
- 3:03Speaker 5: you let them prepare however they need to prepare to
- 3:07Speaker 5: get ready to be elite.
- 3:08Speaker 3: You know, Kui.
- 3:09Speaker 4: One of my favorite coaching quotes is from Red Aherbach,
- 3:12Speaker 4: the great Celtics coach for all those years. He said
- 3:14Speaker 4: winning isn't the hardest thing. He said, the hardest thing
- 3:17Speaker 4: is wanting to do it again. So you've got a
- 3:19Speaker 4: guy coming off his best professional season seventeen and a
- 3:23Speaker 4: half sacks. So I've been very interested in the interaction
- 3:25Speaker 4: I've had with him this offseason, including yesterday, to see
- 3:28Speaker 4: if he had that I right, if he wanted to
- 3:30Speaker 4: do it again, and I didn't get the impression, and
- 3:33Speaker 4: maybe you could share your impression. It looks like he
- 3:36Speaker 4: is lined up and ready to do the hard stuff,
- 3:38Speaker 4: which is to build on seventeen and a half sacks.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I don't think he has the ability to not be competitive.
- 3:44Speaker 1: He talked a little bit yesterday just about the competition
- 3:46Speaker 1: he's always had with his sister, who's an athlete in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the WNBA. So I don't think Josh lacks that drive whatsoever.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I think this contract may motivate him even more than
- 3:55Speaker 1: what we saw from him last year. So let's check
- 3:57Speaker 1: out our final big thing. That's training camp. So training
- 3:59Speaker 1: camp right aroun on the corner now that we get
- 4:01Speaker 1: mini camps out of the way and a month away
- 4:02Speaker 1: is training camp. Brian, When you look at training camp
- 4:05Speaker 1: this year after the way things ended last year, what's
- 4:07Speaker 1: a focus that you're hoping the team kind of gets
- 4:09Speaker 1: into when they get back here for real for training camp.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Well, you know we've talked so much. How about bigger, stronger, faster.
- 4:13Speaker 4: That's obviously what the eyes will show you when we
- 4:16Speaker 4: get out there.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I want to see this communication.
- 4:19Speaker 4: You know, that's been such a big factor, especially on
- 4:21Speaker 4: defense with Ryan Nielsen. Carries over when they're wearing helmets
- 4:24Speaker 4: right when they're out there every day. Are they still
- 4:27Speaker 4: communicating because when you talk to these guys, they say
- 4:30Speaker 4: that was a big breakdown last year on the defensive side.
- 4:33Speaker 4: No one was talking. So can they keep that up?
- 4:35Speaker 4: Can they still be as communicative? Can they get to
- 4:38Speaker 4: that next level with this defense and be where Ryan
- 4:40Speaker 4: Nielsen wants them to be by the time the regular
- 4:42Speaker 4: season starts.
- 4:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess I have two.
- 4:47Speaker 3: One.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I think everybody wants to see can they run block
- 4:49Speaker 5: in big situations better?
- 4:51Speaker 3: I don't know if you see that in training camp
- 4:52Speaker 3: or not.
- 4:53Speaker 5: We're going to see some run blocking thrilled in training
- 4:55Speaker 5: camp and we'll all jump to conclusions.
- 4:58Speaker 3: But until it's third and two Buffalo.
- 5:00Speaker 5: On Monday night, I don't know if you're gonna know it.
- 5:02Speaker 5: So in training camp, let's see if Trevor Lawrence looks
- 5:07Speaker 5: like the Trevor Lawrence that he's looked like so far,
- 5:10Speaker 5: meaning quick decisions, command, all that stuff. I expect that,
- 5:15Speaker 5: but we want to see it.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yes, and no more hats and shorts, which John will
- 5:19Speaker 1: be very happy about.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I'm going to miss the head, all right.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Stay with us.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Coming up after the break, we'll talk a little bit about.
- 5:24Speaker 2: What we did see at the first day mandatory Mini camp.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Move the freight.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Move the freight Magellan Transportation, but to the coolest office
- 5:43Speaker 1: space in Jacksonville. You can apply online at Magellan Logistics
- 5:46Speaker 1: dot com.
- 5:50Speaker 7: Their attention to detail in the building, their work ethic
- 5:52Speaker 7: in the weight room, you know, how they're competing, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 7: out on the football field, you know, in all really
- 5:59Speaker 7: phase two, phase three, and you know, we've seen a
- 6:03Speaker 7: lot of positivity there, you know, and in there it's
- 6:07Speaker 7: a good group top to bottom, you know. And so
- 6:10Speaker 7: that's why I think it's good for UH for them
- 6:13Speaker 7: to get the bulk of the work this week and
- 6:15Speaker 7: then you know, take a little little break and come back,
- 6:18Speaker 7: come back ready to go in July.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So Peterson, speaking to the media yesterday kind of sharing
- 6:23Speaker 1: that when you let some of the veterans go, I
- 6:25Speaker 1: and focus a little bit more on some of the
- 6:27Speaker 1: younger guys, So the rookies who have obviously been here
- 6:29Speaker 1: since Rookie Mini Camp, and then they've been here throughout
- 6:32Speaker 1: OTAs and then obviously some of those second year players
- 6:34Speaker 1: we've been talking about.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Yeah, two guys who stood out to me yesterday. The
- 6:37Speaker 4: first guy I saw when I walked in the indoor
- 6:39Speaker 4: facility was Cooper Hodges and they were firing out from underneath,
- 6:43Speaker 4: you know, shield something on top to keep him low,
- 6:46Speaker 4: and just how powerful he was. And he looked you know,
- 6:50Speaker 4: he looked a little he looked like a lot of
- 6:51Speaker 4: rookies did last year, Little Dowie. You know, guys are
- 6:54Speaker 4: they're spending their off season getting ready to go and
- 6:57Speaker 4: make visits.
- 6:58Speaker 3: He looked hard.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I mean, he looked like he'd spent a lot of
- 7:00Speaker 4: time in the weight room. He looked really good for
- 7:04Speaker 4: running around in shorts. And then Ventrel Miller, who yesterday,
- 7:08Speaker 4: every time I turned around there was fifty one making
- 7:10Speaker 4: a play in seven on seven and team drill. So
- 7:12Speaker 4: those are two guys that the coaching staff has their
- 7:15Speaker 4: hands on right now, John to try to multiply their
- 7:19Speaker 4: ability to make an impact when training camp in the
- 7:22Speaker 4: preseason starts.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think for vent Treell specific I think
- 7:24Speaker 5: Cooper Hodges is going to be on the team as
- 7:28Speaker 5: a swing.
- 7:28Speaker 6: Guard with the idea that.
- 7:31Speaker 5: What they wanted to do with him last year, which
- 7:33Speaker 5: was having on the team and I think ready to
- 7:35Speaker 5: start this offseason since he was hurt. I don't think
- 7:37Speaker 5: that worked out. I think that's the plan for him
- 7:40Speaker 5: this year. Ventrel Miller is a guy in a new
- 7:42Speaker 5: scheme with very much no depth chart, and I believe
- 7:46Speaker 5: with the Ventrel Miller he will get an opportunity in
- 7:50Speaker 5: training camp to show that he deserves to be on
- 7:52Speaker 5: the field. Fourth round pick, This was not a guy
- 7:55Speaker 5: that they drafted to let go.
- 7:57Speaker 6: In two years.
- 7:58Speaker 4: They wont him on the field well and off an
- 8:00Speaker 4: achilles injury, and as you see him moving right there, Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 4: it's impressive.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I mean, mostly guys with achilles, especially he hadn't been
- 8:06Speaker 4: a year guy kind of.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Dragged their leg.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I mean, maybe it's on that Aaron Rodgers Achilles plan
- 8:12Speaker 1: that they were talking about coming back so quick now.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Obviously, Ben Trell has been doing great
- 8:15Speaker 1: with his rehab. He looks explosive, he looks fast, everything
- 8:18Speaker 1: you want to see out there, and they've made those
- 8:20Speaker 1: intuations so far that you know he could be out
- 8:23Speaker 1: there as a starter, especially with Ryan Nielsen's new system.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So what he's able to do here and what he's
- 8:28Speaker 1: able to do in training camp will be cool. He'll
- 8:29Speaker 1: definitely be someone to keep an eye on. As we mentioned,
- 8:32Speaker 1: those injured players get a little more time.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Some of the other injured.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Players I saw, Gave Davis, who's been working back from
- 8:37Speaker 1: an injury as well, was out there today. What I
- 8:39Speaker 1: wanted to mention was Mac Jones, who actually was running practices.
- 8:42Speaker 1: The only quarterback that's still here they released. Obviously Trevor
- 8:45Speaker 1: was here lifting, but as part of the practice yesterday
- 8:49Speaker 1: mac Jones because just the way that he ran practice
- 8:52Speaker 1: it felt like a real practice, is what I'll say.
- 8:53Speaker 1: There's been some OTAs that I are not ots, but
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, mini camps we've been a part of, or
- 8:58Speaker 1: certain OTAs where if the starting quarterback isn't there, it
- 9:01Speaker 1: doesn't function at all. And I will say, at least
- 9:03Speaker 1: it looks like it looks like a practice, which I appreciate.
- 9:06Speaker 1: So it's it's a bit of a dynamic. I think
- 9:09Speaker 1: when you look at having a backup quarterback that can
- 9:11Speaker 1: run some things.
- 9:12Speaker 4: It helps everyone, right, all these receivers who are trying
- 9:16Speaker 4: to find a way to make an impact in training camp.
- 9:19Speaker 4: You know, they've got an NFL caliber starter who's out there.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Same thing, the defense is getting better looks with a
- 9:23Speaker 4: quarterback who knows what's going on as opposed to an
- 9:26Speaker 4: undrafted guy from you know, the University of the Pacific
- 9:28Speaker 4: who's just here for training camp.
- 9:30Speaker 6: But quarterbacks get hurt just like everybody else.
- 9:33Speaker 5: If Mac Jones is the next guy next year, they
- 9:39Speaker 5: go into situations when Trevor can't go, which I hope
- 9:42Speaker 5: never happens, but it you know, you're better there.
- 9:46Speaker 6: So that's an upgrade.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And if you look back at some of the stuff
- 9:49Speaker 1: last year where Trevor was hurt maybe kind of came
- 9:51Speaker 1: back sooner than maybe if he sat out a week,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you have a Mac Jones who can step in and
- 9:54Speaker 1: get you a win the whole seasons a little bit there.
- 9:56Speaker 4: It just makes every one of those reps he's getting,
- 9:58Speaker 4: you know, these three days, really valuable to him.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Also, just to look at some of the rookies.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Obviously we've been excited with what we've seen from Brian
- 10:05Speaker 1: Thomas Junior, but is there any other rookies that you've
- 10:07Speaker 1: seen Brian that you kind of were impressed with? So
- 10:09Speaker 1: far or even just excited about seeing how they developed well.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Off the field.
- 10:12Speaker 4: On Saturday night, I was at a charity event and
- 10:15Speaker 4: I had the opportunity to stand next to Mason Smith.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:18Speaker 4: We talked about bigger, stronger. You know, he was wearing,
- 10:22Speaker 4: you know, a sweatshirt and a pair of slacks.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Just how big he.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Is, right, I mean you can't necessarily tell it by
- 10:30Speaker 4: the numbers on a piece of paper, but how wide
- 10:33Speaker 4: his shoulders are, how big and long his arms are.
- 10:36Speaker 4: And an impressive kid, I mean, a nice kid. Had
- 10:38Speaker 4: a nice conversation with him. But when we talk about
- 10:41Speaker 4: having that size, speed, you know, the traits, he's got them.
- 10:44Speaker 5: You can see him yet on the field. Jerry and
- 10:48Speaker 5: Jones Jarring Jones, I'm sorry I keep doing that. Sure
- 10:52Speaker 5: looks like he's ready to play, and he looks like
- 10:56Speaker 5: he could play outside, play inside. I'd be surprised if
- 11:01Speaker 5: come week one that I Jaran Jones.
- 11:03Speaker 6: It isn't a big factor on the defense.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Definitely doesn't look scared out there.
- 11:07Speaker 5: And when you draft guys who are fifty year seniors, uh,
- 11:13Speaker 5: there is a little bit of an element of maturity
- 11:16Speaker 5: and hey, twenty three, twenty four.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Years old, it's time to play.
- 11:21Speaker 5: There's not much development time there because you know, once
- 11:24Speaker 5: you've been in the league a couple years.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Now you're twenty seven.
- 11:26Speaker 5: So I think the maturity, uh the age for Jarian Jones,
- 11:29Speaker 5: I think he's coming at the right time.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Absolutely, stay with us here on jag Zam coming back.

- 12:08Speaker 1: so got to get all the wisdom out of John while.
- 12:10Speaker 6: We can squeeze it out.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Our first question is about some of the long term
- 12:15Speaker 1: deals that might be in the works.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Robin Pittsburgh wants to know.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Do you think the DAGs will be able to sign
- 12:20Speaker 1: Tyson Campbell and Andre Cisco to a long term contract
- 12:23Speaker 1: if they both have good seasons this year.
- 12:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 5: When I answered this in text forms, some fans sort
- 12:29Speaker 5: of I just got mad at my answer that I
- 12:32Speaker 5: think there's a better chance of than signing Tyson Campbell
- 12:35Speaker 5: long term immediately than Andre Cisco, not necessarily because.
- 12:42Speaker 6: One is that much better a player than the other.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Some of its positional value, right, I mean, Tyson Campbell
- 12:49Speaker 5: is a guy who still projects as a big time
- 12:53Speaker 5: player at a big time value position. Is like safety
- 12:59Speaker 5: is a touch just look at the draft, right, I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 5: safety is considered a little easier to find. I think overall,
- 13:06Speaker 5: when Tyson has been healthy, I think there's a better
- 13:10Speaker 5: chance of getting something done with Tyson in the what
- 13:13Speaker 5: next year, ish before the start of next I mean
- 13:16Speaker 5: before the start of the next offseason, and Andre Cisco,
- 13:19Speaker 5: who I think still has to prove a little bit
- 13:21Speaker 5: consistency in the back end.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Tyson has to be a higher priority because he plays
- 13:26Speaker 4: corner and that's been the story this offseason. Do they
- 13:29Speaker 4: have the players that they can go forward with? In
- 13:32Speaker 4: Ryan Nielson's defense, And after time to evaluate him, they've
- 13:36Speaker 4: decided that Campbell's a guy that they want, so they'll
- 13:39Speaker 4: get something done with him. And you know, the Sommer
- 13:42Speaker 4: Caps takeing some bumps up. Once they get the deal
- 13:44Speaker 4: done with Trevor, they'll have more maneuverability. I wouldn't be
- 13:46Speaker 4: surprised if something for Cisco doesn't get done. But if
- 13:49Speaker 4: you're gonna put one in two, it's the corner than
- 13:51Speaker 4: the safety.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Because safety is such a hard position because it's you know,
- 13:55Speaker 5: you put value on it, and then when you're building
- 13:57Speaker 5: the roster and you're saying, Okay, we got to have
- 14:00Speaker 5: X Y Z, it's sometimes you know, whatever after Z
- 14:05Speaker 5: isz zi, So it just sometimes gets kicked down. It's
- 14:11Speaker 5: sort of like running back a little bit, you know bye.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Not fair to the position, but it's sort of the
- 14:15Speaker 5: way the leak.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Imagine the team's going to try to get something with
- 14:18Speaker 1: Tyson done sooner than later as well, because longer wait
- 14:20Speaker 1: Tyson he comes and has a great year, it's going
- 14:22Speaker 1: to get more expensive.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So our second question is a little bit more general
- 14:26Speaker 2: about some of the tackling issues.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I was curious about the discussions concerning poor tackling. Do
- 14:31Speaker 1: you think it's due to the continued to push for
- 14:33Speaker 1: player safety or defensive players becoming overly cautious about the tackling.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's an element of this, but I
- 14:42Speaker 5: don't know that the big picture with tackling is systemic,
- 14:47Speaker 5: with guys pulling off right like, and I think what
- 14:50Speaker 5: the reader's talking about is you know when you see
- 14:53Speaker 5: a guy on the sidelines who pulls up or they're
- 14:57Speaker 5: coming in and they don't want to get a penalty.
- 14:59Speaker 5: I think we see that at times, but I don't
- 15:01Speaker 5: think that's systemic and causing poor tackling. I think tackling
- 15:05Speaker 5: in general, especially early in the season, is not as
- 15:07Speaker 5: good as is late the season because they don't practice it.
- 15:10Speaker 5: So I don't think it's a bad point that we
- 15:14Speaker 5: sometimes see weirdness because of players trying to not get penalties.
- 15:19Speaker 5: But if you have to point to anything, it's the
- 15:21Speaker 5: fact that there's really only like.
- 15:25Speaker 6: The Jaguars, for.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Example, And I think this is the right way to
- 15:28Speaker 5: do it, by the way, because how the league is,
- 15:30Speaker 5: they might live hit true live hit to the ground
- 15:33Speaker 5: tackling ten minutes a year outside of playing most of
- 15:39Speaker 5: its thud tackling even in training camp when the pads
- 15:42Speaker 5: are on, they're not going to the ground, as they say,
- 15:44Speaker 5: so how could it not be a little shoddy compared
- 15:49Speaker 5: to eras when they tackle to the ground.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Nothing to add there that the thud tackling is the
- 15:54Speaker 4: best that they can do, and it shows on the field,
- 15:57Speaker 4: especially early in the season. I will all show take
- 16:00Speaker 4: more than John. I think you have players thinking a
- 16:02Speaker 4: lot more now. I mean, where can I hit him?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Where does my head have to be?
- 16:06Speaker 1: You know?
- 16:06Speaker 3: How can I move my hips?
- 16:08Speaker 4: I think that the rules have made guys more cautious,
- 16:12Speaker 4: and I do think that's impacted tackling.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Sure check out our final ozone question today. I think
- 16:18Speaker 1: things are finished up. But Bob from Saint Obgusty wants
- 16:20Speaker 1: to know. Have all the twenty twenty four draft picks
- 16:22Speaker 1: signed their rookie contracts?
- 16:24Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 16:24Speaker 5: And I think the answer is yes, they got him
- 16:27Speaker 5: done last week Smith signed, I guess Thursday, Brian Thomas
- 16:30Speaker 5: Friday or.
- 16:32Speaker 6: And the funny thing Brian is when.
- 16:35Speaker 5: I got this question last week, I wasn't sure right.
- 16:40Speaker 5: And what a difference in ten fifteen years ago, when
- 16:45Speaker 5: the big news was all like first round pickets signed
- 16:48Speaker 5: by now it was.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Well unheard of.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I think the last player that we tracked was Blaine
- 16:55Speaker 4: Gabbert because that was the year that they were working
- 16:58Speaker 4: through the player lockout and one of the deals with
- 17:01Speaker 4: the new collective Bargain agreement was that they were going
- 17:04Speaker 4: to have a rookie wage scale and from twenty thirteen
- 17:07Speaker 4: through now, every one of those draft picks we just
- 17:09Speaker 4: assumed they would be in because their slot was pretty
- 17:12Speaker 4: much set. There were a couple of little holdouts in
- 17:14Speaker 4: the early years because they were trying to get guaranteed money,
- 17:18Speaker 4: you know, done just right, or voidable years in the
- 17:20Speaker 4: contract and things like that, or partial return of signing
- 17:25Speaker 4: bonus for guys. But for the most part, for the
- 17:27Speaker 4: last eleven years, it's pretty much been decided.
- 17:30Speaker 5: But it's as it should be now, which is that
- 17:33Speaker 5: signing these guys is an afterthought and you no longer
- 17:36Speaker 5: have to worry about a guy coming in thirty seven
- 17:40Speaker 5: days after you know, thirty seven day holdouts, risking injury
- 17:46Speaker 5: with that. A lot of times in sports, things go
- 17:51Speaker 5: on forever unfixed. Both sides saw a problem and they
- 17:56Speaker 5: got it fixed, and it got fixed practically overnight, which
- 18:02Speaker 5: you know doesn't always happen.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It's good to see them all out.
- 18:05Speaker 1: They're practicing a part of these training camps and OTAs,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and now the ink on the contracts are official.
- 18:10Speaker 2: To stay with us around JAGSAM.
- 18:11Speaker 1: We'll be right back after the break to talk about
- 18:12Speaker 1: training camp upcoming next month.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Welcome back to jags Am. We're getting ready for training camp.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And back Jones just living the dream out there. There
- 18:34Speaker 1: is no better job than backup quarterback. What's this?
- 18:38Speaker 3: What's scenerial?
- 18:39Speaker 2: I'll do for you.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks like he's having John.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Were you dancing on the sidelines.
- 18:44Speaker 6: Too, I was that's what you didn't see.
- 18:46Speaker 2: There, But you were mirroring each other, right.
- 18:48Speaker 5: But on a serious note, good for Mac Jones. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 5: the storyline is that he comes here to his hometown.
- 18:56Speaker 5: He's a first round pick, you sort of re set
- 19:00Speaker 5: your career a little bit. I don't know that he'll
- 19:02Speaker 5: be here more than a year, and for his sake,
- 19:06Speaker 5: I think he hopes he isn't. But he seems like
- 19:11Speaker 5: a fun guy and he's got to be around even
- 19:13Speaker 5: though he went to bolls.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Well and I'd be dancing a little bit with that
- 19:15Speaker 4: story this week that came out from Damien Harris, the
- 19:17Speaker 4: running back for the Patriots, who said that it wasn't
- 19:20Speaker 4: mac Jones' fault what happened last year.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I think a lot of people, at least from my
- 19:25Speaker 1: family and people I know, I think there's a lot
- 19:27Speaker 1: of understanding in that he wasn't put in a great
- 19:28Speaker 1: position there's a lot of pressure up there, and obviously
- 19:32Speaker 1: falling Tom Brady doesn't help. So I hope this is
- 19:34Speaker 1: a good year for Mac as well. I can get
- 19:36Speaker 1: back on track and get everything going. He's certainly happier,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and that's good to say.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Well, you want good guys in the locker room, it
- 19:41Speaker 4: helps everybody, especially when you have a guy like that
- 19:43Speaker 4: in your meeting room, a guy like that on your
- 19:45Speaker 4: practice field, on your airplane, it helps everything.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Well, it's also from his perspective, I've got to think
- 19:53Speaker 5: he's has a chance to be one of the best
- 19:55Speaker 5: thirty two next year.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Oh so in a little bit, how many quarterbacks do
- 19:59Speaker 4: we see playing last year that you would you didn't
- 20:01Speaker 4: even know their names.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Because Brown's got to flack off the couch like.
- 20:06Speaker 4: The people Falcons Vikings game where two quarterbacks that each
- 20:09Speaker 4: team hadn't had when the season started.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I mean, so Mac Jones absolutely should get enough.
- 20:13Speaker 5: And one final thought, you know, if you have to
- 20:18Speaker 5: come to a place to sort of get reset, you
- 20:22Speaker 5: come to a place where Doug Peterson is the head
- 20:25Speaker 5: coach and Mike McCoy's around, who's been a head coach
- 20:27Speaker 5: pressed it, so good opportunity for a guy to sort
- 20:31Speaker 5: of take a breath and sake, I'm gonna learn a
- 20:32Speaker 5: little bit.
- 20:33Speaker 6: So for really, all.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Right, we've got about a month and a week or
- 20:37Speaker 1: change off. So what are you guys getting up to?
- 20:39Speaker 1: Johnny going to the beach?
- 20:43Speaker 5: I go at some point, not sure yet. We're kind
- 20:45Speaker 5: of I kind of wing it, but we'll figure something out.
- 20:48Speaker 1: All right, fair enough, You're gonna bring the bucket hat
- 20:50Speaker 1: back when we get back for training camp, Absolutely right,
- 20:53Speaker 1: hats will be back.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Everyone, enjoy your break.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We are going to take a break here on jag Zam,
- 20:57Speaker 1: but well we will be back for training camp the
- 20:58Speaker 1: final week of July.
- 21:00Speaker 2: We'll see you then. Enjoy the summer.
