But man, what a night. And I I I just want to say kudos

to to Ken and Steve at the Hall of Fame.

They did a phenomenal job. It was a great time.

The way it was organized, just the the kind of casual

atmosphere about it was really cool and I'll get more into

that. But man it was great just

meeting those guys and I I will say that and girls, but I will

say this that it it was a weird intersection for me like I have

the podcast so trying to grow and like having that hat on and

looking for ways and and way to to grow that and where I can get

in with that. I had just the the sports fan in

me who's like, listen, this is I need to be a part of this and

trying to to to start being more of a volunteer with the

Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.

And then there's just like the 12 year old me who like 12 year

old me was been like, dude, that's so cool, blah, blah,

blah, blah. So it was just a good time.

I met a lot of great people. I have a lot of great stories.

The speeches that the inductees gave were great.

There's certain things like even this morning talking to my wife,

I'm like, oh, and then such and such, I talked to them and so it

was really, really cool. It was a pleasure and a

We were talking about Jalen Hurts and the bone bruise.

I did research it and I guess there are two types of bone

bruises, Bone bruises that happen from.

And again, I'm probably still getting this wrong.

I'm not a doctor, so if you're a doctor or you're a medical

professional, please feel free to correct me on this.

But a bone bruise that is caused from like getting hit or trauma,

you can't necessarily make them worse.

It's more, as I thought, more of a pain tolerance thing.

So it's probably why Jalen doesn't want to talk about it.

He's probably in pain and wearing the brace kind of help

stabilize it and and kind of, you know, when you're sore,

sometimes putting like compression on it makes it feel

better. There is the other kind of bone

bruise that just kind of happens on its own.

I believe Sam Bradford may have had one of them when he was in

Minnesota. So that's a little bit different

because that's a more of A cause for concern because it didn't

happen because of an actual injury.

I am assuming and again, because we're not really hearing much

about it, I'm assuming that this is the kind that Jalen has that

happened because of getting hit with a helmet or whatever it is.

And I mean imagine getting hit with a helmet right on on your

knee. It's going to hurt.

So the fact that he's able to play through the pain by all

intents and purposes, from what I was able to kind of gather,

it's just more of a pain management thing for him.

So hopefully that's what it is and it does take sometimes up to

a month, six weeks to heal. So I think having the bye week

coming up after this week's game, it will be huge.

I don't necessarily again think it's a cause for concern.

But again I'm not a doctor so if any medical professionals out

But that's sort of where I was able to find you guys know I

Remember I said I think Popovich took over for Lucas, but Bob

Hill was in there for a couple of seasons.

He replaced Lucas when he was fired in the middle of the

season. I think he coached another

season and then they hired Greg Popovich.

let's start with the game itself.

They beat Toronto for the second time and I believe it was three

nights, 1/14/99 Joe, 28 points, 13 boards.

Tobias and Kelly Uber both had 23 and I really like that.

This offense so far with Nick Nurse and again, I know it's a

small sample size, but they're really moving the ball around.

And as much as we, we kind of laughed when Tobias's dad came

out and was like, hey, he could be one of the best, he's really

excelling in Nick Nurse's system because he has more space.

And I really, like I said, I think I like the direction that

they're heading with him now. They have some movable assets

now at the trade deadline and all of a sudden they went from

not being a championship contender to creeping their way

now into that conversation if things kind of go and play out

the way they should. Now Speaking of Nick Nurse's

system, James Harden did it, was interviewed and basically said

that while he was with the Sixers, he was on a leash and

wasn't allowed to be him. And I guess that was either a

shot at Joe or Doc or both. And he's like not necessarily

being able to score 30 some points a game or something.

Like he's like I've done that. He's like just being able to

create and and make plays and it just kind of seems like a

strange thing. And it almost is.

I'm taking it as sort of a way to kind of make himself look

better now that the trade and and say, well, the reason I was

unhappy is because they didn't let me be me or or something

along those lines. I I don't buy it and Joe was

asked about it and he was like look I wish him the best but I

mean he had the ball in his hands every single play.

But I I do think it was kind of like his last little parting

shot at the Sixers. But there are a lot of rumors

floating around getting back to the comment I made about the

trade deadline, that the Sixers are intending to be aggressive

at the trade deadline. And I really feel they should.

I mean they're in a great position with the expiring

contracts and having those assets where they could trade

them to bring somebody in who's going to be here maybe a little

bit longer for an extension or whatever.

So I think finally and and having a day or two now to to

I think they've set themselves up now where again they're I

don't think they're quite on the level of Milwaukee though I

don't know if Milwaukee's as good as they were last year and

Boston. But I I mean I kind of the

especially the way they've been playing and having those assets

now all of a sudden they've played their way into maybe

they're the third best team in the East again and once you get

But again good win for them hard and still doing hard and things.

Flyers are in Buffalo tonight. Carter Hart was injured the

other night and is expected to miss some time and was not able

to get because hockey. They don't give specifics on

injury. It's just an upper body mid body

or lower body injury. But it sounds like he might have

something wrong, either a muscle strain or even worse, like maybe

broken ribs or something. But it seemed like he could miss

anywhere from two to six weeks, which is a blow because they've

been playing well as a young team.

But it also gives the the backup goalies and the younger Got

goalies a chance to kind of shine and show what they have.

It gives Danny Barrera to see what he has, like now this

Carter heart become expendable. Do you have pieces now to move

so you don't wish an injury on anyone?

But it's a good opportunity for the backup goalies to kind of

come out and and show what they have.

And again, not good for the Flyers on the ice, but long

looking long term as this is a rebuilding year, something that

they'll be able to see what they have.

All right, Eagles news, Jalen Hurts.

We talked about his injury. The big story yesterday was the

the kind of the ending of his press conference the other day

where he was kind of getting up and the last question was thrown

out there. And he's like, I'm not talking

about it and got up and walked away and I don't know which

reporter it was. And he, I mean, he joked about

it. He was like, that's what I

figured, right? It was worth a shot or something

like that. But I did notice there's a lot

of people up in arms about him not addressing the injury and

wanting to talk about it. And again, like, I think knowing

that it's a bone bruise and knowing it's more of a pain

management thing, maybe he's just trying to move past it,

fight through it and and be good.

But that leads me to this year or this year, today's question

of the day. And when it comes to athletes,

and obviously a reporter has a job, the athlete has a job and

the teams have a job to kind of make sure they're winning and

put themselves in the best position for that.

All right it is Eagles Dallas week as I said and today we're

we're going to do a little Eagles Dallas.

One of my all time favorite memories of the Eagles Cowboys

rivalry And on this day back in 1996 the six and two Eagles took

on the five and three Cowboys in Dallas.

First place was on the line. The Eagles won this 131 to 21.

Ty Detmer went 19 for 33 for 217 yards, threw a touchdown, also

ran in a touchdown. Ricky Waters had 116 yards and a

touchdown. But the story was the Eagles

defense. They interceted.

Troy Aikman twice gave him fits all game, including one within

the final minutes when the Eagles or the Cowboys were

driving down inside the tent. They had the game tying field

goal lined up, but they got greedy.

Aikman through it. James Willis intercepted it,

took it out to the tent, lateraled to Troy Vincent who

weaved his way down to the opposite sideline.

And one of my all time. I'm getting chills just thinking

they would make the playoffs until Andy and Donovan came back

All right, it's a shame that we're we're coming down on

disappointing Philly athletes for the month of November.

But this one is one of the more interesting and frustrating ones

out there, and that is Danny Tartable.

And in 1997 the Phillies signed tartable to A1 year $2 million

contract and which is what they offered him at first, but when

he first offered it. He said F you I'm worth more

money than that. But wait, there's more.

Turns out the only and no, I don't know if anybody knew this

but tartable, but the only other team that offered him a contract

at the time was the Cincinnati Reds who only were willing to

offer him 500,000 and he was getting older than I think he

was in his mid 30s. He was a 13 year vet and he was

coming off injuries in the 9495 season, bounced back in 1996.

He had 27 homers and 100 RBI, 101 RBI.

Mostly I think as a a designated hitter though with the White

Sox, solid career and all of a sudden once he realized he

wasn't getting any money, he said.

I'll sign that contract. So they signed him to the one

year $2 million contract. Again, I said he was a very

solid player. I think he had one or two All

Star appearances and just was a good hitter.

That is of course, until he came to Philadelphia.

That typically typified the Phillies of that era.

I feel like if they kept Grady little they would have won that
