- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! Episode 74, can you believe it? I'm ready to learn something new. Lucas: And I've got a perfect little topic for us today. Let's talk about body parts — but just two specific ones. Luna: Ooh, I remember we did head and shoulders way back. What are we doing today? Lucas: Today, we're focusing on the hand and the finger. In German, hand is "die Hand". Luna: Die Hand. Okay, die Hand. That sounds like 'hand' but with a bit of a different ending. Lucas: Exactly. And finger is "der Finger". Luna: Der Finger. That's almost the same as English! Der Finger. Lucas: Exactly. So let's say them together. Repeat after me: die Hand. Luna: Die Hand. Lucas: Der Finger. Luna: Der Finger. Lucas: Great. Now, let's put them into a simple sentence. "Ich habe zwei Hände." — I have two hands. Luna: Ich habe zwei Hände. So 'Hände' is the plural of 'Hand'? Lucas: Exactly. Hand becomes Hände. So: Ich habe zwei Hände. Luna: Ich habe zwei Hände. That's easy to remember. Lucas: Now for fingers. "Ich habe zehn Finger." — I have ten fingers. Luna: Ich habe zehn Finger. Finger stays the same in plural? Lucas: Yes, der Finger becomes die Finger, but the word doesn't change. So: Ich habe zehn Finger. Luna: Ich habe zehn Finger. Let me try both: Ich habe zwei Hände und zehn Finger. Lucas: Perfect! That's a great sentence. You have two hands and ten fingers. Luna: So if I point to my hand, I can say 'das ist meine Hand'? Lucas: Yes, exactly! 'Meine Hand' — my hand. And 'mein Finger' — my finger. Luna: Meine Hand, mein Finger. Good. Lucas: Let's practice a little dialogue. I'll ask you: 'Was ist das?' and you answer. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Was ist das? Luna: Das ist eine Hand. Lucas: Und das? Luna: Das sind Finger. Lucas: Perfect! You've got it. Luna: So if I want to count my fingers, I can say 'eins, zwei, drei...' but that's from earlier episodes. Lucas: Right, you can combine what you already know. That's the beauty of building up vocabulary. Luna: Hey, before we go on — I just want to say, Fexingo has really helped me make progress with German. Lucas: That's great to hear. And you know what? A handful of listeners actually chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo to keep these episodes coming. Luna: Yeah, it's totally listener-supported, no ads. I think that's pretty cool. Lucas: It really is. So now, back to our hands and fingers. Let's do a quick review. Luna: Sure! Die Hand, der Finger, ich habe zwei Hände, ich habe zehn Finger. Lucas: Excellent. And if you want to say 'my hand' or 'my finger', you say 'meine Hand' and 'mein Finger'. Luna: Meine Hand, mein Finger. Got it. Lucas: Let's do one more round. Repeat after me: die Hand. Luna: Die Hand. Lucas: Der Finger. Luna: Der Finger. Lucas: Ich habe zwei Hände. Luna: Ich habe zwei Hände. Lucas: Ich habe zehn Finger. Luna: Ich habe zehn Finger. Lucas: Wonderful. Keep practicing these, and next time we'll learn more body parts. Luna: Sounds great! Thanks for joining us on Learn German with Fexingo. See you next time! Lucas: Practice these words till we chat again. Tschüss! Luna: Tschüss!
