- 0:00You think that you're going to give him a significant, you're
- 0:02going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:04Why not putting in one of the top three offensive players in
- 0:07the league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:16Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:20Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 0:22You don't see the one doing that A.
- 0:24Game where you got to go? I told you, giant feet Saquon

- 2:41Mr. Nick Goody will be joining us once again.
- 2:44He's been out in Cleveland doing the pre gamut post game show for
- 2:48the Guardians over the last past week.
- 2:50So we're very happy to have him back a little bit later in the
- 2:52show. Yes, Mr. Nathan, our PR guy is
- 2:55hiding. He's lurking.
- 2:57Our interns and everything. Jabba, how was your weekend,
- 3:00man? We were celebrating speedies.
- 3:04Finally did it right. Like you, you took the weekend.
- 3:07We did. Did he get his?
- 3:09Did he have his dancing shoes on?
- 3:11Yes, he danced a little bit. I, I will say this DJ Theo was
- 3:15out and, and doing his thing over there at Flynn.
- 3:19So I, I didn't like the crowd. It was craziness.
- 3:22A lot of the older, younger crowd and you couldn't move in
- 3:26the place, so you really couldn't enjoy the music.
- 3:28It was a it was a bad weekend to go over there to Fire Island.
- 3:32But yes, Speedy was doing his little jiggling and twerking and
- 3:36whatever the hell you call it as he's doing the crab dance,
- 3:40That's what I call. It Java the Speedy's crab dance
- 3:43perspective. I was lucky if I had that much
- 3:45room at that place. You didn't have any room, but
- 3:48you don't know where to stand, Speedy.
- 3:50I kept moving you in so many different positions because this
- 3:53kid would let everybody walk through him.
- 3:55I'm standing right there. I'm like, stand here so nobody
- 3:58gets around our circle. You know what Speedy does?
- 4:01He turns around. I think he was looking at ladies
- 4:03asses. That's what I think he was doing
- 4:05because it made no sense when we were trying to to kind of close
- 4:10up the circle. So nobody was bugging the hell
- 4:13out of me and I was trying to enjoy the music.
- 4:15And by the way, I used to love DJ Theo.
- 4:18I'm not going to take shots at him on this show because he's
- 4:21done wonders for the house, you know, region here in New York.
- 4:25He was one time, one time the best DJ in the country.
- 4:30Yes, he was voted best DJ in the country.
- 4:32I think it was about 10 years ago and then he had kids and
- 4:35then he kind of disappeared for a little while.
- 4:38But now he's back in the scene and doing his thing.
- 4:41I got to give him a little bit of credit.
- 4:43I just don't like that old music or even some of the new mixes
- 4:46that he's putting out there. I just, I, I don't know, I'm
- 4:48not, I'm a DJ and I'm not a big fan of it.
- 4:50Did you like? The drum guy though, I thought
- 4:51he was pretty good. I actually know.
- 4:54So I actually reached out to him after we left and I just wanted
- 4:58to tell him I couldn't really speak to him or even have a
- 5:01conversation with him because they're people like when you're
- 5:04there and you're the center of attention, you have like some
- 5:06kind of like you're like some superstar and you think you're a
- 5:09superstar. You know what I mean?
- 5:11You're standing there and you know, and I, I just something
- 5:16turned me off about the people there.
- 5:18I don't know what it was. Maybe the fact that people were
- 5:21stepping on you and throwing things and those stupid
- 5:25volleyballs, whatever the hell they those three different.
- 5:27Beach balls, yeah. Can't move.
- 5:29And like they were stepping on you.
- 5:30Jabba, they were stepping on us. I, I, I, the, the people, people
- 5:34there were just so rude and disrespectful.
- 5:37And I, I walked away from one of the guys and I kind of kind of
- 5:40kind of give him a shoulder. You know, when you're walking
- 5:42away from somebody and give him like a little nudge, like get
- 5:44the hell out of my way. That's what I did.
- 5:47And nobody messed with Speedy, but I was teaching Speedy how to
- 5:49keep his hands in his. Pockets.
- 5:52Pockets. That's right, ladies and
- 5:53gentlemen. I was training him to be what,
- 5:57Speedy? Like a puppet?
- 5:59It was my puppet, sure. We'll go with that.
- 6:01He was my puppet, but I actually had a chance when I was on the
- 6:04ferry. I was looking up Jabba
- 6:06Chamberlain some looking at statistics and trying to compare
- 6:09his statistics to Ian Kennedy and Philip Hughes and I came
- 6:14upon this 9 minute video which was posted up four years ago
- 6:18called The Summer of Java. You can check it out on YouTube
- 6:22and it is a 9 minute and 46 second love fest for Jabba
- 6:28Chamberlain. Yes, this kid who?
- 6:30And by the way, it was about 5-6 thousand people checked it out
- 6:33and viewed it. It was like a love fest.
- 6:36No matter how much trials and tribulations you had over a 3
- 6:411/2 year span. Jabba, he was comparing your
- 6:44numbers to some of the greatest pictures of all time and in some
- 6:47of those numbers really were interesting.
- 6:50When a guy like you who didn't give up an earned run in like I
- 6:55think it was, I'm not, I don't remember exactly, but it was
- 6:58like Four Seasons. You didn't give up an earned run
- 7:00in like a certain amount of time and you had like 40 strikeouts
- 7:05when you came into the major leagues without any walks or
- 7:08something like that. It was some ridiculous number.
- 7:11And I don't remember what he was saying.
- 7:12I wish I I should have wrote it down before I came on the show,
- 7:16but check it out. It's called the Summer of Jabba.
- 7:19It's actually really, really good.
- 7:21It's, it's at the 9 minute documentary of Jabba
- 7:24Chamberlain's career rolled up in 9 1/2 minutes.
- 7:28So, and by the way, his I, I think his Gmail has your number
- 7:34and Derek Jeter's number, his two favorite players growing up
- 7:38as, as a Yankee fan. So yours and Derek Jeter's
- 7:41number was at the back of his e-mail address.
- 7:45So pretty interesting. I actually enjoyed it.
- 7:48I got a got a chance to get to know you a little bit better
- 7:51behind the scenes. I mean, in his eyes at least.
- 7:54But it was fun. It was, it was a cool time.
- 7:56We actually had a BBQ after that.
- 7:58We went over there to Brittany's house and and had a barbecue and
- 8:01and then we had a cake and we sang happy birthday to the one
- 8:04and only speedster. What?
- 8:06What kind of cake? Ice cream cake.
- 8:07Ice cream cake Carvel. Yes.
- 8:10Can't go wrong with. That no.
- 8:12Don't worry, don't worry Jabba, I had my sausage too.
- 8:14Yes, he had his nice dry sausage, long and thin.
- 8:18It was actually. It was actually cheddar infused.
- 8:20Yes, you like that, right Speedy?
- 8:22Did you dance? Did you like have like this like
- 8:24love fetish for that cheddar? You know, you brought it home.
- 8:26You brought it home. Did you feed?
- 8:28Did you feed it to granny? No, you didn't feed it to
- 8:30granny. No, no, I I'm surprised.
- 8:33The the jalapeno cheddar sauce, like we have those here like
- 8:37because we have a bunch of like meat lockers like in small towns
- 8:39and stuff. So they they always usually have
- 8:42some good. Stuff that's interesting.
- 8:43I have to see if I ever. I've never seen that one.
- 8:44I have no jalapeno cheddar. The flavor.
- 8:46I've never seen it in a sausage concert.
- 8:47Speedy, did you just pop lock and drop it last night when you
- 8:50went home to Granny? What did you pop lock and drop
- 8:53it? I don't know what that means.
- 8:55Show us your pop lock and drop it.
- 8:56Why don't you show? I don't have no idea.
- 8:57Stand up and show us your pop lock and drop it.
- 8:59I don't know what the context. Just show us with hands what you
- 9:02would do if you were pop lock and drop it.
- 9:04I have no just show a hand. I have no idea what it is.
- 9:09What the hell is this? By the way, since we have Snug
- 9:13in the comments section, Snug, you would love Brittany's house.
- 9:16There's eight different cats there.
- 9:17Oh God, Police police. 8 cats man, 8 cats in one big room.
- 9:23It's just I'm definitely allergic to cats, so I when
- 9:28you're walking there, I have to take like allergy pills or I'm
- 9:30going to break out and just absolutely fall over.
- 9:33Yes, there it is. There's Keith in the corner and
- 9:36P Diddy crossed out in any kind of way.
- 9:38But yeah, it was it was fun. Sunday was fun.
- 9:42It was an interesting weekend. I actually emceed a big wedding,
- 9:45enjoyed it. I like to thank the family.
- 9:48I'm not going to mention any names.
- 9:49I don't want to if they don't want me to mention any names,
- 9:52I'm not going to mention any names.
- 9:53But I had a very good time over there at the Essex Country Club
- 9:57in Brentwood, NY. So I I did have a good time.
- 9:59Thank you young little Frankie for twirling in.
- 10:04What is it, Burling or whatever it is?
- 10:06Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, it's been a long weekend for the
- 10:10New York Yankees as they were just swept by the lonely Florida
- 10:16Marlins. This weekend, the New York
- 10:19Yankees were swept by the Miami Marlins, dropping them behind
- 10:23the Red Sox right into third place in the American League
- 10:26East. Both Derek Jeter and Alex
- 10:28Rodriguez ripped the Yankees play on Saturday during the rain
- 10:33delay at Bristol Motor Speedway on Fox, with Jeter saying the
- 10:37Yankees make it to make too many mistakes and a rod take shots at
- 10:42Jazz Chisholm for a horrific base running mistake, saying
- 10:47that his ERA Jazz would have been benched for it.
- 10:51Manager Aaron Boone said it is a gut check time for the Yankees
- 10:55but he still has confidence in them because they're a very good
- 11:00team as he would say in the pathetic effort.
- 11:04All three relievers the Yankees traded for at the deadline gave
- 11:09up multiple runs and the much talked about trade deadline
- 11:13acquisitions acquisitions. The return of Louise Hill was
- 11:19was a bad one in his return Sunday's giving up five runs in
- 11:24three innings of work. The only silver lining is the
- 11:27Yankees still sit in possession of the second wild card and
- 11:32Aaron Judge should be back Tuesday or Wednesday from the
- 11:36IL. I didn't get a chance to watch
- 11:39much of any of those games this weekend because I was working,
- 11:44but I did get a chance to check out some of the statistics that
- 11:47were absolutely putrid and and Jazz Chisholm's absolute
- 11:51debacle. Base running was just so
- 11:54embarrassing. I don't even think a rod gave
- 11:56you enough information on how bad it was.
- 12:00But everybody knows how I feel about Jazz Chisholm.
- 12:02I know, I know at one point Jabba liked him.
- 12:06I know Keith absolutely adores him, but this is a guy that
- 12:11doesn't shut his mouth. He opens his mouth too many
- 12:13times. He went that he went to the All
- 12:15Star game at the Home Run Derby and absolutely embarrassed
- 12:19himself in the Home Run Derby, only hitting three home runs.
- 12:22I've never seen a Yankee absolutely embarrass himself.
- 12:24As we call or the Yankees call themselves the Bronx Bombers and
- 12:27Aaron Boone saying that it's gut check time is just being nice
- 12:31because it's been gut checking time for the last four months,
- 12:35since the season started. The Yankees have been absolutely
- 12:39disgraceful. Disgraceful.
- 12:42There's no excuses to this team and the way they've played.
- 12:45There's not. The pitching has gone from good
- 12:49to absolutely bad. If you add these relief pitches
- 12:52and you think, hey, it adds depth to the bullpen and you
- 12:54think, oh, the Yankees are going to be great.
- 12:56They're going to be sensational after adding 23 pitches at the
- 13:00trade deadline. And and obviously the Yankees
- 13:03over the second-half of the last three seasons have been
- 13:05absolutely disgraceful in the second-half when it comes to the
- 13:09bullpen. You look at Devin Williams,
- 13:11who's played a little bit better, has come back in the
- 13:14second-half, has been up and down.
- 13:17And you look at this staff, really Max Fried, who's been one
- 13:20of the best pitchers in baseball really from the first half of
- 13:24the season, has been taking steps back.
- 13:27I, I know a lot of people going to say he has blisters and, and
- 13:30Carlos Rodon still has a 3.18 ERA and everybody says, well
- 13:34this is a good season for Carlos Rodon.
- 13:37When you're making $26 million a year and you're giving guy like
- 13:40Max free $32 million, that's 50 some I $1,000,000 almost $60
- 13:44million. You're investing into two
- 13:47pitchers and you're not getting enough hits and not getting
- 13:50enough wrongs behind these guys. It just shows you where the
- 13:53Yankees are AT and you're. Depending that's not that's not
- 13:55as bad Errol as us having 48.3 million for guys that aren't
- 13:59even playing. Well, that's true too.
- 14:00I we could go, we could get into the the past of the Yankees.
- 14:03I mean, remember Call Pavano getting hit by a Wiener?
- 14:06I'm saying right? I know.
- 14:07I'm just saying. Carl Provano, how many games did
- 14:10he play when the Yankees decided to bring him in from the
- 14:12Marlins? I mean.
- 14:13That's not even the big Jacoby Ellsbury's the worst.
- 14:16That's another one. And Jacoby's, Jacoby Ellsbury,
- 14:19his final year, he was an MVP candidate.
- 14:22So I, I think that obviously you look at the Yankees in the
- 14:26situation that they're in, I said it before the trade
- 14:28deadline, they should have been sellers, they should not have
- 14:31been buyers. And I know Jabba, you're going
- 14:33to get into how much the Yankees have to win in the next 50
- 14:36games. You think they have to go 30 and
- 14:3720 to to even make the playoffs. I just, I don't see this team
- 14:42having enough depth offensively. Aaron Judge comes back, even if
- 14:46he adds that depth offensively that they've been lacking over
- 14:50the last week, week and a half since he's been gone, I just
- 14:53think there's not enough on this team to get over the hump.
- 14:56I still think obviously the Astros are going to be a one of
- 15:00the teams to beating the American League.
- 15:02I do also believe Detroit, even though they've been up and down
- 15:05over the last couple weeks, the Red Sox have played better since
- 15:08the acquisitions that they've made.
- 15:10Even getting rid of Devers. I think the the Red Sox have
- 15:13been better. I, I think Devers has been was a
- 15:15cancer in the locker room. I just think that this team just
- 15:18doesn't have it this year. Every boot can make any excuse
- 15:22that he wants. Derek Cheeter could say what he
- 15:23wants. Derek Cheeter hasn't been on a
- 15:25baseball field for how long? 10 years?
- 15:27He hasn't been on a field for a while.
- 15:29And Alex Rodriguez is another one that opens his mouth.
- 15:32You want to talk about distinguished and stupid.
- 15:34How many times do we see Alex Rodriguez on the on the baseball
- 15:38field Absolutely look look like a Jackass.
- 15:41I remember the times that he was screaming when there was a pop
- 15:44up fly, making sure that if I'm not if is it Castillo, one of
- 15:48those guys, one of the Mets? Castillo.
- 15:50Castillo when he was trying to catch a pop up fly at second
- 15:55base. He drops the ball because he's
- 15:56screaming in his ear or at 3rd. Base that was that was a rod in
- 16:00the yeah in Toronto at 3rd. Yeah, but it was two.
- 16:02It was. Twice.
- 16:03But he did twice. He did it twice.
- 16:05Popped it up at freaking Castillo.
- 16:06The most infamous drop popping ever.
- 16:08In the extra. In the extra.
- 16:09He did it twice and and again, Alex Rodriguez is is been
- 16:14obviously one of those Yankees that nobody likes because of
- 16:17what he did with steroids and and some of the weird things he
- 16:20did on a baseball field. But again, Alex Rodriguez could
- 16:24go down as one of the top five players of all time.
- 16:26Derek Jeter is going to go down as one of the top five top six
- 16:30Yankees of all time and one of the most clutched.
- 16:33Actually, you look at this roster, who is clutch on this
- 16:36roster before besides Giancarlo Stanton?
- 16:40Because it's not our judge, Jazz Chisholm, we know what he does
- 16:42in the playoffs. He's absolutely putrid.
- 16:45OK, we go to Bellinger. He looks like he is a good
- 16:48playoff player, but not with the Yankees.
- 16:49We have to see what he's going to do with the Yankees, if the
- 16:52Yankees even make the playoffs. I mean, right now, this is not a
- 16:55good team. I don't care what anybody says.
- 16:58This Yankee team is not good. When you talk about trying to
- 17:03build a roster to win a championship, when you look at
- 17:06from top to bottom, when you look at the top five hitters for
- 17:09the Yankees, are you going to actually tell me with Volpe in
- 17:13the lineup, this is a good a lineup, good roster?
- 17:16Volpe's had more more errors in the last four weeks than I've
- 17:21seen any Yankees since Chuck Knobloch.
- 17:23Remember that? Does anybody remember Chuck
- 17:25Knobloch? This was a Gold Glove type of
- 17:27player. He comes from the Twins.
- 17:29He comes to the Yankees, has one Goodyear at second base, and
- 17:33then what happens? What happens?
- 17:35He can't throw the first. He's throwing it.
- 17:37He's throwing it to the fans. I he threw it, throwing it in a
- 17:40dugout. It it's it's to me.
- 17:43It's a big problem when you're young superstar, as the Yankees
- 17:46believed he was going to be, Can't really throw the first.
- 17:50He can't even throw the ball the second.
- 17:51He can't put the ball in front of him.
- 17:53It to me you got to send him down.
- 17:55But the Yankees have no depth at shortstop.
- 17:58And the Yankees were looking to add depth.
- 18:00Now, Ahmed Rosario is a good player somewhat against lefties.
- 18:05Is he a starting shortstop in this league?
- 18:07No. Ask the Mets.
- 18:08If he was, he'd still be a Mets. He'd still be a guardian.
- 18:12OK, let's let's be honest here. This is not a good Yankee
- 18:17roster. If you look at the roster that
- 18:20they have on the bench, who you could bring in.
- 18:23Now, I know Chris Sims had a good year.
- 18:24Is he really a guy that you want to bring in week in and week out
- 18:28if you need that offense? Come on, guys.
- 18:31He wasn't. He was up and down with the
- 18:32Padres. He wasn't a great player.
- 18:34He's been OK with the Yankees and the beginning of the season
- 18:37was on a home run, you know, tear for what, a couple of weeks
- 18:41and he's falling off. The Yankees have no depth
- 18:44offensively. You look at the Dodgers right
- 18:47now. If the Dodgers fall apart at any
- 18:50point, Mookie Betts has had a terrible year.
- 18:53Mookie Betts and MVP has had a terrible year.
- 18:57They have guys that can pick up the slack.
- 19:00The Yankees don't. If Aaron Judge is not in the
- 19:03lineup, they're not getting offense from John Carlos
- 19:05Stanton, and they decided to part ways with Glaber Torres,
- 19:09who's right now playing great baseball.
- 19:11He's going to earn himself a lot of money after only signing a
- 19:14one year deal with Detroit. Maybe the Yankees should decide
- 19:17to bring them back. He would have been a better
- 19:19option at shortstop than the one and only Mr. Volpe.
- 19:22Volpe's been absolutely terrible and the Yankees have no future
- 19:27as far as I'm concerned with Volpe.
- 19:28And now you got to send him down.
- 19:30He loses confidence. We've seen Yankees over the
- 19:32years go down after this and never come back up.
- 19:35Clint Frazier being one of them. Remember that guy?
- 19:38It's just, and then you add the cat story over there and then
- 19:42all the stupid things you heard from Clint Frazier when he was
- 19:45here with the Yankees. I just, I'm just so terribly
- 19:50stupid to believe that this team had any chance this year to make
- 19:55a run, really. Yeah, you look at a lot of the
- 19:57younger players too, we've talked about with the prospect
- 19:59development, especially like Anthony Volpe, you said it like
- 20:032 years ago he was a Gold Glove winner.
- 20:05He was probably the fifth or sixth guy for Rookie of the year
- 20:07and what was a really good Rookie of the year class that
- 20:09year. Gunner Henderson won it, but
- 20:10they had Josh Young Louise, not Louise Hill.
- 20:13Tyler Wells for the Orioles was also very good that year in
- 20:15Tanner Bybee. Ben Volpe was in that set and
- 20:18then all of a sudden two years later, all of a sudden he can't
- 20:20throw to 1st and Glaber Torres. Remember how hyped he was
- 20:23defensively too? Not as much as Volpe was, but he
- 20:26couldn't field either. And it leads to be a problem
- 20:29that maybe the Yankees in a prospect development department
- 20:31have a big problem too. I don't think it's as much Brian
- 20:33Cashman as it is like the the scouts or whatever the
- 20:36management is down there as much because the Yankees have had
- 20:39trouble with this for a while too.
- 20:40Like you said, who's fielding really on this team right now at
- 20:43a high level? It's not.
- 20:44It's not good at all. And then these young hitters
- 20:46just have not developed either, and they're banking on that this
- 20:49year because they have no line of depth.
- 20:51That's the problem with the Yankees, and I'll go back and
- 20:53Jabba knows this more than anybody.
- 20:55He was a Yankee for a significant amount of time.
- 20:57They get guys they're either great in both, you know, fight,
- 21:01they're either A5 tool player or they're a tool tool player.
- 21:05That's what they are. They're either good defensively
- 21:07or they're good offensively. How many guys have we seen over
- 21:10the years that are 5 tool players that we've been brought
- 21:13up by the the Yankees? Honestly, if you go back and you
- 21:16look at it, Jorge Posada being one of them, Bernie Williams
- 21:19being another, Derek Jeter being another, I mean, we could go and
- 21:22then we move up In the 2000 era, Alfonso Soriano wasn't a good
- 21:27defender. He wasn't.
- 21:28He was a good power hitter and he couldn't hit for average.
- 21:31If you go up and down the Yankees rosters over the years,
- 21:35they haven't been good 512 players.
- 21:38They don't grow on trees for the Yankees.
- 21:40They haven't grown on trees for the Yankees since the 50s.
- 21:44Since the 40s, it hasn't been that that good for the Yankees.
- 21:48Even Thurman Munson, when Thurman Munson was coming up as
- 21:51one of the great catches for the New York Yankees, what was on
- 21:54that roster? Lou Pinella?
- 21:56I mean, come on, There was nothing.
- 21:58That's why they had to make a trade for Reggie, Reggie
- 22:01Jackson. They weren't good, and that's
- 22:05the problem. Well, who's the best?
- 22:07What was the best, best prospect for the Yankees in the 80s?
- 22:11Roberto Kelly, who was traded for Paul O'Neill.
- 22:14We never even got a chance to see Roberto Kelly.
- 22:16Oh, I'm sorry. We saw Pat Kelly.
- 22:18Randy Velardi. Remember him?
- 22:19I mean, come on, guys. They weren't good.
- 22:22And then they bring in guys from Kansas City like Danny Turnable,
- 22:25who had one or two good seasons when it came to power.
- 22:28The Yankees had a winning record in the 80s and could never get
- 22:31over the hump because there was no wild card teens in the 80s.
- 22:34And in the 90s we all know Donnie Baseball could never get
- 22:37over the hump because Donnie Baseball couldn't stay healthy
- 22:40after the mid 80s he had back problems.
- 22:42And then in the 90s, unfortunately, the Yankees
- 22:45slowly but surely found ways to draft players.
- 22:50However way they did it, the Yankees have not been that good
- 22:53since then. And Jabba, you know all about it
- 22:55because you were a first round draft pick with Ian Kennedy.
- 22:59Yeah, I mean that that kind of that streak too, because Hughesy
- 23:02was was a little bit before us in the first round too.
- 23:05And yeah, I mean, it's it's interesting how they've they've
- 23:09tried to. And I remember I think it was
- 23:122010 when we got like Carrie Wood and I think I've mentioned
- 23:15this before, but I think we had in that team, I think we had
- 23:18like 14 or 15. It was the most ever first round
- 23:21draft picks on one team. And you know, it just it there
- 23:24hasn't been many since that's happened.
- 23:26And I mean, it's crazy. It was funny you mentioned Clint
- 23:29Frazier. He he he's starting to get back
- 23:32on the talking shit train about certain things.
- 23:36And of course he's like, he's like, should I start my own
- 23:39baseball? Actually, he just said it today,
- 23:40like start his own baseball show.
- 23:42And then somebody's like, oh, you should team up with Clint
- 23:44Frazier. And I'm like, I don't know about
- 23:46that, but yeah, so it's it's I don't think it hasn't, it hasn't
- 23:53been one. That's and obviously, you know,
- 23:55Volpe's been three years. So obviously it's, it's it's
- 23:58enough to have AI guess a subject matter of like, yeah, it
- 24:03hasn't been a year, It's been three years.
- 24:05And we kind of see what it is. So it there, there's been, I
- 24:09wouldn't say not lack of trying it.
- 24:13It's like lack of when to when to use them and, and if you have
- 24:17those guys, you know, when do you bring him up?
- 24:20And it's something that, you know, we all kind of go around
- 24:23in a circle. It's like, do you bring him up
- 24:25to have the energy? Do you do you take that risk of
- 24:28maybe stunning his growth or doing whatever?
- 24:30So, and we're all kind of in agreeance and disagreeing on on
- 24:34certain aspects of how it works, but there really hasn't been
- 24:37that many that you look at lately that have thrived, you
- 24:40know, and been able to, you know, not necessarily put the
- 24:45team on your shoulders, but carry the backpack.
- 24:47So it'll be interesting to see how it is.
- 24:49And and like you said, they to to reach 90 wins, they have to
- 24:52go 30 and 20 in the next to to get 90 wins.
- 24:55Like we didn't think that was going to be I did.
- 24:58Absurd number. Yeah, I thought the leaders were
- 25:01going to win 95, I think. He said it was going to be
- 25:04close. I think he had like 87.
- 25:05No, no, no. I had the Yankees winning over
- 25:0790. I did.
- 25:08Oh. I did, yeah.
- 25:10So I and that's where it's like, man, that's there's only one
- 25:14team that's that's playing at that clip right now and that's
- 25:17the Brewers. But yeah, they just lost some
- 25:19guys. But still right now that's the
- 25:20only team. So it's going to be tough.
- 25:22And it's going to be interesting to see how, when and if.
- 25:26I guess from the reports on Twitter and Boland, Eric Boland
- 25:32reported to on Twitter that Judge is headed to Texas.
- 25:36They haven't announced anything yet.
- 25:39See, they're obviously going to have to make a correlating move
- 25:41with who's going to be sent out because you're going to have to
- 25:43make room for him and how that's going to affect Stan.
- 25:48Haven't really read much if he's taking many reps in the outfield
- 25:52as of right now. So that's going to take away at
- 25:56bats and they're talking about maybe starting a throwing
- 26:00program with judge here, but they haven't even said if he's
- 26:02going to come off. He's eligible to come off
- 26:04tomorrow. But will he?
- 26:07And I think that's kind of he's he's headed back to Texas.
- 26:10So we we'll see. It's I mean, there's a lot of
- 26:12what ifs at this point and especially, you know, with the
- 26:16lineup that they're featuring tonight, we'll see what they
- 26:18might go out and score 10 runs. You never know.
- 26:21That's the. Problem that's the problem
- 26:23because Aaron Boone keeps moving around this lineup and it's not
- 26:26his fault everybody every Yankee fan is attacking this guy on
- 26:29social media keep doing this and I I don't think Aaron Boone's
- 26:33going to last after this season. I really don't if the Yankees
- 26:36failed to make the playoffs during the second wild card
- 26:38spot, I know everybody keeps saying he's tied to Brian
- 26:41Cashman, but you know how how will keep Brian Cashman because
- 26:45they have a connection. They grew up together, like you
- 26:47said, Jabba, all these years with the Yankees in the
- 26:49organization. I don't know if if that
- 26:51connection is still there when it comes to how.
- 26:55And then obviously a guy like Aaron Boone now Aaron Boone is a
- 26:58guy that I like. I do believe Aaron Boone, if he
- 27:01gets fired from the Yankees, I'm sure there are going to be 5 or
- 27:056 other teams lining up for him. I, I know guys like Fish and
- 27:09other people all over social media that have podcasts and
- 27:12Yankee podcasts have taken shots at Aaron Boone.
- 27:15Some of the lackluster moves that he made, obviously on
- 27:18Friday, what he did with that that absolute debacle in in
- 27:23extra innings with Jazz, Chisholm and and the Yankees.
- 27:26The Yankees have been a major, major problem when it comes to
- 27:32certain fans and the way they've played over the last couple of
- 27:34years. And the Yankees have really
- 27:37blame of the Yankee fans have really blamed not the players,
- 27:40but Aaron Boone over the last couple years.
- 27:42Meanwhile, Aaron Boone was the same manager that took that team
- 27:45all the way to the World Series. Yes, they choked in the World
- 27:49Series, but he still was the manager.
- 27:51And by the way, he was the manager of the American League
- 27:54East in the All Star Game. I know it doesn't matter, but he
- 27:57was. But nobody gives him credit for
- 27:59taking that team all the way to the World Series.
- 28:01And honestly, I could go back over and over and over again
- 28:05over the years that Joe Girardi was there.
- 28:06Was Joe really that much better than Aaron Boone?
- 28:10Not really. I mean, Joe Girardi had better
- 28:12rosters than Aaron Boone in his first four years.
- 28:16I mean, look, as soon as Joe Girardi came, got the manager
- 28:20position, what did the Yankees do?
- 28:21They added CC Sabathia, they added AJ Burnett and Mark
- 28:25Teixeira. OK, Have they have the Yankees
- 28:28done any of that since Aaron Boone's been there?
- 28:31Have the Yankees spent over $700 million for three players since
- 28:37Aaron Boone's been there? The answer would be no.
- 28:40So I know everybody wants to say that Aaron Boone is the complete
- 28:44blame for it. Hey, if the Yankee fans wanted
- 28:46Juan Soto, why were they bitching and moaning after the
- 28:50fact? Juan Soto went to that press
- 28:52conference with the New York Mets and he said, you know, he
- 28:54picked the right New York team. Goodbye, farewell.
- 28:57Meanwhile, the Yankee fans behind the scenes were saying,
- 29:00we just lost Juan Soto for $768 million.
- 29:04Why did our ownership actually actually pay him?
- 29:06Maybe because they went after 3-4 guys, gave them some depth
- 29:10because that's what the Yankees were lacking in the playoffs
- 29:13last year. That's the fact.
- 29:16The Yankees have no depth. They have none.
- 29:19And I they're going to overpay for Kyle Tucker in the offseason
- 29:22if he decides to leave the Chicago Cubs.
- 29:25They're. Not I would say I would use it
- 29:27different. They have bodies, they don't
- 29:29have depth, they have bodies to put out.
- 29:31OK, I'm sorry. So let me present you this
- 29:34question. OK.
- 29:35So you're saying that Booney doesn't last past this year?
- 29:38No, I don't think so, no. So what direction do you go
- 29:41then? That's a good question.
- 29:43And you know it's going to be with him because I believe now I
- 29:47think Brian Cashman is there for at least his contract.
- 29:50I think after this contract Brian Cashman will step down.
- 29:53There's quite a few people that a lot of people believe could
- 29:57take over for Brian Cashman. Two of the guys or girls that
- 30:02have been quoted to possibly take over if Brian Cashman ever
- 30:05steps down. I I look at the manager position
- 30:09either the Yankees stay within. If I was running this team and I
- 30:13was the GM of the GM of this team, like Brian Cashman, I'm
- 30:17making a call to Mark Del Rosa. That's who I'm reaching out to.
- 30:21I think Mark De Rosa, he was Team USA head coach, head
- 30:25manager over there. I think he has a lot of people's
- 30:28ears in baseball. He speaks very highly still of
- 30:32the New York Yankees. I've seen him on podcast over
- 30:34the last couple of months, still thinking that the Yankees are
- 30:37contenders in the American League.
- 30:39I, I just, I, there's something that tells me there is something
- 30:43missing when it comes to depth with the infield and then
- 30:47obviously with the health in the outfield.
- 30:50And I think that if Bellinger does come back and he do they do
- 30:54extend him. He's got to play first base next
- 30:56year. I, I cannot see him playing in
- 30:58the outfield. They need more depth in the
- 31:01outfield. Maybe a Kyle Tucker, but again,
- 31:04job, I don't know. I don't know what the Yankees
- 31:05are thinking. They're going to probably hire
- 31:07somebody that's a part of this roster, this management right
- 31:12now on on the bench right now. Or do they reach out to Don
- 31:16Manningly, A guy Donnie Baseball is doing a great job with the
- 31:19Blue Jays right now and is looking to add to another roster
- 31:25when it comes to a managing position.
- 31:26This is a guy that failed with the Marlins, failed with the
- 31:29Dodgers, and always wanted to manage the New York Yankees.
- 31:32He brought he was brought up in the Yankees organization, never
- 31:35won with the Yankees organization, and he was passed
- 31:37up on Joe Girardi when he was being interviewed.
- 31:41And Joe Girardi did win a World Series in 2009.
- 31:44And Donnie Baseball took over for Joe Torre and could never
- 31:47get over the hump over there with the Dodgers.
- 31:49But I, I just think that Donnie's done a great job over
- 31:52there. I think you reach out to Don
- 31:54and, and see if if he's a good fit over that.
- 31:56But the problem is, does Brian Cashman like Don Manly?
- 31:59That's the thing. And I know Jabba, you're not a
- 32:02big fan of Brian, but again, I don't know what's thinking in
- 32:06his little pea brain over there. He's got a big head.
- 32:09The organization has a lot of big heads over there as
- 32:12executives. I'm not going to, I'm not going
- 32:14to name any guys because I don't want to hurt myself if if we're
- 32:17planning to work with the Yankees.
- 32:18But anybody that knows the Yankees knows that the Yankees
- 32:21have a lot of big executives and a round table.
- 32:24Speaking of Hal and giving their feedback on what they know.
- 32:28It's not George Steinburn anymore, ladies and gentlemen.
- 32:30It's just not. Unfortunately, if you're a
- 32:32Yankee fan, you can't be happy on what you're watching.
- 32:35This is not good baseball. If you're if you're a Yankee
- 32:37fan, watching the Mets and watching what the Mets are
- 32:40doing, it makes you sick. It makes you sick.
- 32:44I am sick watching the Mets because Juan Soto's finally
- 32:48figuring things out. They're getting power in the
- 32:50middle of the lineup by Pete Alonso.
- 32:52And by the way, they added depth to the bullpen, which they
- 32:55haven't had in over 10 years. More than that.
- 32:58I mean, seriously, the the Yankees should be the Mets and
- 33:03the Mets should be the Yankees, but it's the opposite.
- 33:06Let's flip and I'll tell you, I'm flipping right now because I
- 33:09think the Mets have a good chance of making a run right
- 33:12through the playoffs in a National League that's wide
- 33:15open. Besides Milwaukee, who scares
- 33:18you? Who scares you in the National
- 33:21League? Nobody does.
- 33:23It's just Milwaukee and Milwaukee.
- 33:25They're choke artists in the playoffs, but I'm not even
- 33:27talking about them. The Yankees, another mediocre,
- 33:31you know, conference there. There is really no slam dunk in
- 33:36that conference. The American League conferences,
- 33:38there really isn't. Are you going to trust that the
- 33:41Astros have the best team now? They have the pedigree.
- 33:44They had a Correa, he's playing third base.
- 33:47They bring him back. Maybe he gets more pop in that
- 33:49bat, which he hasn't had in the last past year.
- 33:52I, I, I don't know. To me this is probably the most
- 33:56mediocre season when it came when it comes to baseball
- 33:59throughout the league, it's so mediocre.
- 34:02How many 90 win teams are we going to have in the major
- 34:05leagues this year? Really?
- 34:07I, I don't know, 5 maybe. I don't even know if we're going
- 34:10to have five, maybe 3. It's it's really bad right now.
- 34:14Now Maybe it's, it's, it looks like baseball is more
- 34:17interesting to watch because there's no powerhouse team.
- 34:21I, I mean, you want to see, you want to see an evil empire like
- 34:24the Yankees. The Dodgers look like they were
- 34:26the next evil empire with their deferred money.
- 34:28I should have given them their, their name evil and blue or
- 34:31whatever the hell you want to call them.
- 34:33I, I just, to me, you can't be happy the way the Yankees have
- 34:37played. Yankee fans are going to point
- 34:39their fingers at somebody and it's going to be the manager.
- 34:41In every sport. It usually is not the player,
- 34:44it's the manager or the GM. And that's who usually goes
- 34:48first or last or both. I don't know.
- 34:52So there you go. I'm just, I'm just talking.
- 34:54Errol. Who else is supposed to keep
- 34:56them accountable though? If it's not the manager, who?
- 34:59Else does it yourself. Each other I mean.
- 35:02All right. So that's a great point.
- 35:04But here's the thing, guys that are coming up, we have a lot of
- 35:07young guys. Volpe we talked about on this
- 35:09show for weeks now, he's just not getting it done.
- 35:12How come all these young guys seem to go through struggles and
- 35:15we haven't seen them? I mean, Dominguez has been up
- 35:19and down since he's been here as well.
- 35:22I'm not convinced that the coaching and the like, let's
- 35:27just call it like the mindset in the clubhouse is where it needs
- 35:30to be for these younger players. And I I just don't know if
- 35:33that's something that is like endemic in the minor league
- 35:37system where they don't have the focus.
- 35:39I don't know what it is, but a lot of it just seems like sloppy
- 35:44play and they're not getting better.
- 35:46And usually that's the coach. Now, I know we've said, we heard
- 35:50Jim layer it, say it on this show as recently as a week ago,
- 35:53that you know, that that a lot of these decisions come from up
- 35:56top, from the MIT guys like Lenny, who invented the torpedo
- 36:00bats to try to make these guys better to do.
- 36:03The hell is, I still think it's the coach.
- 36:05Remember this first story? I know, I know, Lenny the
- 36:07Pizzeria man. Lenny, if you're listening to
- 36:09the show, I love you, man. But I'm sorry, he's a big Yankee
- 36:14fan, by the way. He's a legend.
- 36:15Yes. Wow, you never met Lenny at the
- 36:17pizzeria? Mike No, I know Lenny the
- 36:19torpedo bat inventor. Wow.
- 36:21Because he thought, we thought beginning of the year, you know,
- 36:23Volpe started real hot. He had the torpedo bat.
- 36:26He was hitting oppo homers and now he's still hitting homers.
- 36:31But a lot of the rest of the game is not rounded out
- 36:33offensively and the base running across the entire team.
- 36:38I I, I just can't understand it. If that's not a coaching thing,
- 36:42I don't know what is. But Jabba, I'm real concerned
- 36:46because you said something that makes a lot of sense to me as a
- 36:49coach. I can only keep my players
- 36:51accountable as much as I can. You have to keep your, the guy
- 36:55next to them accountable. And if they're not doing it, I
- 36:58mean, what are you supposed to do?
- 36:59Like, it's like, you got to blow it up, don't you?
- 37:02Yeah. I mean, yeah, a little bit.
- 37:03But the one thing that like bother me, like and I I wouldn't
- 37:08say I'm a huge fan of Jazz. I wouldn't say I I dislike him
- 37:11as much as as Errol does. But like what got me in this
- 37:15whole thing was he said he was trying to make a play.
- 37:18Like, what were you? What play were you trying to
- 37:20make? Like, dude, you've known the
- 37:22infield like the options of what?
- 37:25Like what play are you trying to make in that instance?
- 37:27And then it's like Booney pulls the first base coach and like is
- 37:32trying to give him the business. Like what what do you what what
- 37:36do you want me to say? I I I said get back.
- 37:39Is there like I physically can't touch the guy and grab him to
- 37:41get your ass on the base. The fact that it was so close
- 37:45that he had to slide back in is awful.
- 37:48Makes it look even worse. And then like to what you're
- 37:51saying is the accountability, like I don't necessarily say you
- 37:55berate him right in front of God and everybody, right, but like
- 37:58pull him down. There was there was a great
- 37:59highlight of AJ Hench when Javi Baez did something in Detroit
- 38:04and it was in Toronto. He took him under, gave him the
- 38:07business. And then he said, Javi, you're
- 38:09done. He grabbed his stuff and he went
- 38:10out. Like that in essence needs to
- 38:14happen at some point. And it's you know, it's I'm
- 38:17going to use a yogiism. If there's a fork in a road,
- 38:19take it. But he's not taking anything.
- 38:22The only fork, the only fork he's running into is the fork in
- 38:26Aaron Boones ass because that's what he's going to be picking
- 38:30and that's Dixies. When Aaron Boone is going to be
- 38:32let go in the offseason because he can't listen.
- 38:35He doesn't listen. Chisholm has been the the bona
- 38:39fide Nick Swisher, and I like Nick Swisher.
- 38:42Nick Swisher actually listened to guys, you know, on the bench.
- 38:45This man, even though he's spiteful and he's dancing in the
- 38:49locker room and everybody says they love him in the locker room
- 38:52and he's got so much enthusiasm and he's playing the music.
- 38:56So did Nick Swisher went rock and heavy metal and all that
- 38:59stuff that you heard. We're hearing that Chisholm is
- 39:02more out there speaking to many different podcasts and saying
- 39:07the things that he's saying, saying that the Yankees are
- 39:09still one of the best teams in the league.
- 39:10Where where do you see that? This is not a good team.
- 39:14This is not a good baseball team.
- 39:17I don't know why anybody's selling this to the Yankee fans.
- 39:20Here's what the Yankees are doing right now.
- 39:22They're still opening their pockets.
- 39:24How? Still opening his pockets.
- 39:26Even though it's not the players that Yankee fans want, They want
- 39:29superstar players. Well, OK.
- 39:31Is Max Free the superstar player?
- 39:33Well, he's not the cherry. He's not that cherry that you
- 39:37put on an ice cream cone. But guess what?
- 39:40What soda was in? The Yankees had them.
- 39:42Why did the Yankees give him a contract?
- 39:44I didn't want them. But Yankee fans work bitching
- 39:46and moaning after the fact when he signed with the Mets and then
- 39:50when he spoke at the at the press conference, like I just
- 39:53said, what did they say? Oh, good, good riddance.
- 39:56We don't need you. We have Max Freed, we have Mr.
- 39:59Bellinger. We had that.
- 40:00They could have still brought Bellinger in in with the team.
- 40:03And even if they made made that decision to bring Soto back, it
- 40:07is embarrassing what the Yankees are doing right now.
- 40:10There's nothing that sells to me.
- 40:12Even if the Yankees make the playoffs, they're making a run.
- 40:16This is not a good roster. Marcus Stroman.
- 40:18Thank God they got rid of that stupid ass a Patchogue Medford
- 40:23guy. I didn't want to see him anymore
- 40:26in the Yankee colors. The Yankee.
- 40:28Pictures, everybody called that too.
- 40:29Like he's going to, he'll post something within like hours.
- 40:33And like I remember Gary Sheffield Junior, who I was on
- 40:36their show and I went and looked back at one of his streets.
- 40:39How long till it takes him to do?
- 40:42And then he posted the picture like saying that, oh, he's
- 40:44still, he does, no worry in the world, whatever.
- 40:46I think it was like 4 or five hours, something like that,
- 40:48where he took the picture on the plane and said adios, whatever,
- 40:52Like his watch or whatever. It's like, all right, dude, we
- 40:55get it. Like, yeah, OK, whatever.
- 40:57It's embarrassing, it's embarrassing, and every Yankee
- 41:00fan is trying to find somebody to blame.
- 41:03Oh, if Aaron Judge was 100% healthy all season long, the
- 41:06Yankees would have just drove all the way into the playoffs in
- 41:09first place. What drugs are you guys on?
- 41:12What are you guys smoking? If you're sniffing some lines,
- 41:15it better be good stuff. They did right now.
- 41:18The Yankees are not a good team. This is not a good roster.
- 41:22How many times do I have to tell the Yankee fans over and over
- 41:25and over again? My blood vessels are popping out
- 41:28of my neck. I'm a Yankee fan.
- 41:30Everybody wants to attack me on the Anthony Edwards take and I,
- 41:33I sent out post on why I said what I said about Anthony
- 41:37Edwards. All you guys want to say what
- 41:39you want on this take. Here's the take.
- 41:42The Yankees are not a good team. They're not good.
- 41:45Wait until next year until Garrett Cole comes back and see
- 41:48what you got with Garrett Cole and Max Freed.
- 41:50As long as he stays away from the blister problems and Rodon
- 41:53has a back-to-back year which we've never seen in his whole
- 41:56career. And then if Luisio Atticus can
- 41:59actually stay healthy for a full season as a pitcher, if that all
- 42:02happens. Oh, and by the way, Clark
- 42:04Schmidt actually pitches 20 games.
- 42:06If that all happens, the Yankees will make a run next year.
- 42:09This is not the Yankees year. Jabba will admit to it now.
- 42:14Now, I think any baseball fan that knows the New York Yankees
- 42:18and that absolutely our real Yankee fans will tell you this
- 42:22is not a good roster. Before we move on, I just want
- 42:26to ask you rank you the most annoying athletes, Jazz
- 42:28Chisholm, Anthony Edwards and Travis Hunter.
- 42:32Travis Hunt, I would go. Travis Hunter Chisholm.
- 42:35He did. He did self proclaim his own
- 42:37nickname by the way. Oh, Gremlin.
- 42:40No, that's yourself. That's your proclaimed name to
- 42:44him. Okay, I thought he actually
- 42:47claimed the did. You hear what it was, right?
- 42:49No. What was it?
- 42:49What was it? The Unicorn.
- 42:51Please the grapple. Errol, Just so you know, Travis
- 42:57Hunter is listed as a starting wide receiver and a backup
- 43:01cornerback. Can't wait to watch this
- 43:03debacle. Or his roster.
- 43:04So all those comments as going to draft, I remember I was being
- 43:08shouted down about how he wouldn't be a receiver first.
- 43:11Don't worry, you'll be it'll be shouted down when he fails to be
- 43:14that and he'll be right back as a corner and failed to do that
- 43:18as. Well it does help Errol's bet
- 43:19with Quinn couples though for Travis Hunter not getting
- 43:21interception all. Season that's true, and the only
- 43:23reason why is because the coaching over there is going to
- 43:26bow down to Mr. Gremlin himself until they realize he's nothing
- 43:30to sniff about and he might be doing sniffing of his own
- 43:34sniffing somebody'd ass. I'd like to thank Spotify and
- 43:37all the Apple downloads followers, a tick tock at
- 43:39Instagram and all the social medias.
- 43:41We really appreciate you guys YouTube.
- 43:43Keep tuning in Speedy. Well, who do we have on on
