- 0:04Speaker 1: Good morning sunshine.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Shock circuit with Sonia and Join on 987. Very different
- 0:12Speaker 1: from the Hayley Williams of 10 years ago. Paramore, I
- 0:16Speaker 1: would say super different. You know, I want to throw
- 0:18Speaker 1: you back to was it 2008 or 2009 when Guitar
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hero was a thing. It was still all the rage.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It's still a thing, right? I think people still do
- 0:28Speaker 1: competitive stuff with it. It's slowly coming back thanks to TikTok, OK,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but then they released Guitar.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Hero world tour to compete with rock band. So it
- 0:37Speaker 1: came with a drum set, guitar, the actual, the full
- 0:40Speaker 1: setup and the microphone. And if I'm not wrong, Paramore,
- 0:44Speaker 1: they had their song Misery Business, only one of the
- 0:48Speaker 1: most classic songs of all time. Then I believe Guitar
- 0:51Speaker 1: Hero went with Aerosmith and Metallica, and it went downhill
- 0:54Speaker 1: from there. Oh no, yeah, I, I have no idea
- 0:58Speaker 1: resonate with it anymore.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It was all the rage from maybe say 2005 to
- 1:03Speaker 1: about 2010, 2011. Maybe they need to bring back like
- 1:07Speaker 1: old school, uh, you know, like I don't know, Blink 182,
- 1:11Speaker 1: this kind of stuff. Maybe to appeal to like the
- 1:14Speaker 1: millennial generation and above, you know, they should bring back
- 1:17Speaker 1: Dance Dance Revolution and Para Para Sakura. Oh, I've never
- 1:21Speaker 1: gotten into that. If you understood what I just said, congratulations,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you're a millennial.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Um, it was so funny because as I was coming
- 1:28Speaker 1: into the studio today, I just saw a, um, a,
- 1:33Speaker 1: a picture of Zoe Kravitz actually.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Um, she's accompanying Harry Styles because he's kicking off his tour,
- 1:41Speaker 1: and I think he's going to be somewhere for a
- 1:44Speaker 1: month or something in the UK probably. Do you think
- 1:46Speaker 1: he'll bring his tour to Singapore? Um, I don't know. I,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I don't know because the last time he came in
- 1:52Speaker 1: was a number of years ago already actually. And I,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I was trying to look up when they're gonna get married,
- 1:58Speaker 1: but hm, no, no sign just yet. I mean, they
- 2:01Speaker 1: got engaged as of this year.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So maybe a 2027 wedding. I have a feeling for
- 2:06Speaker 1: Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitz, they're gonna do something very quiet,
- 2:09Speaker 1: like low-key type. You know Harry Styles, right? If you
- 2:12Speaker 1: watch Marvel Eternals, he actually made an appearance in a
- 2:15Speaker 1: post-credit scene like a cameo. Will he come back in
- 2:18Speaker 1: Marvel's Avengers Doomsday or what? What's happening to him in
- 2:21Speaker 1: the Marvel Cinematic Universe because nothing's been done so far.
- 2:25Speaker 1: busy making music lah. Maybe that's why he go back
- 2:28Speaker 1: there and running marathons. That's true. Yes, every mid midlife
- 2:35Speaker 1: crisis millennial. Hey, but this guy is fast, man. Is he? Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 1: he is. He's very good, is it? His timings are amazing,
- 2:42Speaker 1: but then again, he's running it in the UK where
- 2:44Speaker 1: it's cooler, yeah, or maybe even Berlin if I'm not wrong.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You, you were actually commenting that Benjamin King runs very
- 2:51Speaker 1: fast as well. How do they match up? Because sometimes
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think of him as like Singapore Harry Styles. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: want to see Harry Styles' 10 km timing first, then
- 2:59Speaker 1: I'll compare alongside Benjamin Kings at 43 minutes if I'm
- 3:03Speaker 1: not wrong. for how long? 10 km. That's pretty fast.
- 3:07Speaker 1: That's very fast. How tall is Harry Styles? Does that matter?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Does height matter? No, it doesn't. Harry Styles? No, I
- 3:14Speaker 1: don't think so. Hold on, Harry Styles height. I mean, I, I,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I googled Zoe Kravitz height earlier because I was very curious, um,
- 3:22Speaker 1: about her height because her OOTD like popped up she's
- 3:25Speaker 1: accompanying Harry Styles. She's 1.57, OK, which means I'm 2
- 3:30Speaker 1: cm taller than her. Yay. What does that mean?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Nothing. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. And by the way, for, I
- 3:38Speaker 1: don't think he really matters. You guys are about the same.
- 3:42Speaker 1: He's about 1.8. I mean, yeah, he doesn't matter. I
- 3:47Speaker 1: don't know. Aerodynamics. I mean, I don't know how tall
- 3:52Speaker 1: he is.
- 3:52Speaker 1: is in person, but I look at Sean Goh, the
- 3:55Speaker 1: national record of the 2.4 km run, by the way,
- 3:57Speaker 1: 6.57 if I'm not wrong, and, yeah, he finished 2.4
- 4:02Speaker 1: in 6 minutes, 6.57 if I'm not wrong, that could
- 4:05Speaker 1: have been the timing. Sean Goh national record. you were
- 4:10Speaker 1: saying his height.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Oh sorry, 6.47.6. 0, that's now. Yeah, I, I don't
- 4:18Speaker 1: think he's that tall as compared to like a Kenyan
- 4:21Speaker 1: or Ethiopian. Sometimes I feel like, you know, the closer
- 4:24Speaker 1: you are, your stable.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Says the person with a sprained ankle. I'm mentally stable, OK.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I don't know how really into the running scene you
- 4:38Speaker 1: are here in Singapore. Not at all for me. Following
- 4:41Speaker 1: the SG International marathon Instagram page, I'm getting excited because
- 4:46Speaker 1: we are what, less than 4, less than 16 weeks away.
- 4:51Speaker 1: To the BYD Singapore International Marathon. We're talking 5 km.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The stand chart 10 km to which Sonia, you can
- 4:57Speaker 1: do either or I'll do it with you. My ankle's
- 4:59Speaker 1: not great. There's the Adidas.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's injured. It'll be OK in 16 weeks. There's the
- 5:07Speaker 1: Adidas half marathon and the BYD full marathon. The roots
- 5:11Speaker 1: are out already, so please go study it and train
- 5:14Speaker 1: as you would. And if you're doing the full marathon,
- 5:17Speaker 1: make sure you practice your uphills because we have Shears
- 5:20Speaker 1: Bridge and then Merdeka Bridge. That one is very sneaky.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Merdeka Bridge looks like a straight, but it's actually an
- 5:27Speaker 1: uphill as well, an uphill gradient. So it's misleading you
- 5:30Speaker 1: a little bit. And what's gonna be very mentally draining
- 5:34Speaker 1: is as you're doing Shears Bridge and Merdeka Bridge, you
- 5:37Speaker 1: can see National Stadium. The end point is right there.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So it's so so far kind of feeling. Exactly, you're like, ah,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I get there. I understand. So train your mental strength,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and they're looking for volunteers to do all sorts of races.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Activities we're talking the start experience, the finish experience. You
- 5:55Speaker 1: get some perks. I think they supply you with some
- 5:57Speaker 1: bento meal and snacks, and there's free bus shuttle rides
- 6:00Speaker 1: on Saturday and Sunday. So if you want to join
- 6:03Speaker 1: them and be a part of something meaningful, you can
- 6:05Speaker 1: go follow the SG International marathon account and hopefully we'll
- 6:08Speaker 1: see you at the start line and finish line. Honestly,
- 6:10Speaker 1: it's something that I would do like if I was
- 6:12Speaker 1: back in school, like in poly or uni, right? You
- 6:15Speaker 1: get a group of friends and you just do it
- 6:16Speaker 1: for fun. Perhaps, yeah, that's the kind of stuff like.
- 6:19Speaker 1: The, the, the like, uh, orientation group leaders will do together.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Exactly the feeling for every water point that is available
- 6:27Speaker 1: for you at the half marathon or marathon, I'm very
- 6:29Speaker 1: thankful to the volunteers because they are the ones pouring
- 6:32Speaker 1: the water, making, making sure they're holding it correctly as
- 6:34Speaker 1: well to give it to you. I was gonna say,
- 6:36Speaker 1: even though we always joke about how I'm not like
- 6:38Speaker 1: a marathon person or I don't, you know, have that
- 6:40Speaker 1: much exercise done and all that, but, um, having hosted
- 6:44Speaker 1: quite a number of marathons and sports-related events.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You know, the importance of the volunteers are not highlighted enough,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I feel, because when you actually see how they encourage
- 6:53Speaker 1: you or like, you know, even just clapping for you
- 6:56Speaker 1: as you walk by and things like that, it actually
- 6:58Speaker 1: helps people's mental um state a lot. Yeah, especially when
- 7:02Speaker 1: you're when you're struggling. So if you're above 16 and
- 7:04Speaker 1: want to support our very own international marathon here in Singapore,
- 7:08Speaker 1: volunteer if you want to.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's 987. Good morning. Who's this? My name is Elijah.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Hi Elijah, good morning. How are you and which school
- 7:17Speaker 1: are you from? I'm from Guangyang. Hey, Elijah, Guang Yang
- 7:21Speaker 1: Sec over at Bishan. That's Avery Secondary School as well. Right, right.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So what do you love about your school now and
- 7:26Speaker 1: what level are you in? I'm in sec one and
- 7:29Speaker 1: what I love about my school is my friends. Your friends.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So how has sec one been?
- 7:33Speaker 1: For you, Elijah from primary 6, jumping to sec one.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Are you coping well? Yeah, a little bit. Any weighted
- 7:39Speaker 1: assessments coming up this year? EOI Oh, end of year. Alright,
- 7:43Speaker 1: that's all the best for that. Um, you do sound
- 7:45Speaker 1: a little sleepy this morning, understandably so. We want to
- 7:47Speaker 1: get you a song to perk you up. What would
- 7:49Speaker 1: you like to hear? Can you play Cat's Eye? Everybody
- 7:53Speaker 1: loves this Cat's Eye song recently.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I like it too. It's good. OK, is it going
- 7:59Speaker 1: out to anyone? Uh, my sister. Alright, have a great day, OK? OK.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Thank you. Bye. So earlier on, um, as Joakim ran
- 8:07Speaker 1: down to get his breakfast, collect his breakfast, thank you.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I was just saying, you know, the heat doesn't spare
- 8:13Speaker 1: our pets, especially if you have to walk your dogs
- 8:15Speaker 1: and all that out there, right?
- 8:17Speaker 1: It's been incredibly hot the last couple of days. I mean,
- 8:19Speaker 1: whenever I run around Bishan Park at the dog, if
- 8:23Speaker 1: it's 5:30 to 6:30, you see loads of dogs panting. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So on Sunday, I will say it was particularly hot
- 8:32Speaker 1: and humid and stuffy, like it's almost like
- 8:36Speaker 1: It's almost like the air wasn't moving at all. In
- 8:38Speaker 1: the context of the last month or so, was it
- 8:41Speaker 1: hot and humid here in Singapore? I know, I know.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So um there was two pieces of news here. Firstly,
- 8:47Speaker 1: Air quality wasn't so good the last couple of days.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I think this um um is related to the hotspot
- 8:54Speaker 1: and the smoke haze activity. So that one we already
- 8:56Speaker 1: know is happening and ongoing, we were warned about it,
- 8:59Speaker 1: but it may also contribute to how you're feeling, right?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Like the heat and stuffiness. So, um, over in Japan
- 9:05Speaker 1: right now, they've made the news because the dogs in
- 9:08Speaker 1: Japan are getting fan-powered suits.
- 9:13Speaker 1: As they go for their walks to cool them down,
- 9:16Speaker 1: which my question now is why do humans not have this?
- 9:19Speaker 1: We do, but it doesn't look good, is it, when
- 9:22Speaker 1: we wear mascott. Yeah, but do you need to wear
- 9:26Speaker 1: a mascot outfit to get a fan? I mean, shouldn't
- 9:28Speaker 1: we invent, I'm sure there's something out there already, but anyway,
- 9:31Speaker 1: the dogs almost need it because they are overheating.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And um just by looking at this article that was
- 9:37Speaker 1: and this video that was released by our friends over
- 9:39Speaker 1: at CNA actually, the outfits use fans and an ice
- 9:43Speaker 1: pack to circulate cool air, so it keeps the puppies
- 9:46Speaker 1: and the and the dogs cool when the weather gets
- 9:48Speaker 1: sweltering because they still need to go out for walks.
- 9:51Speaker 1: They need to take a poop. Again, this is why
- 9:53Speaker 1: my next life, I want to be a golden retriever
- 9:55Speaker 1: to someone.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Staying at 6th Avenue, or Tokyo. I'll be pampered. Yeah, dude, um,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know, when I was, we brought Maxi out to
- 10:02Speaker 1: the Dempsey area because, you know, there are only that
- 10:05Speaker 1: many dog-friendly restaurants that we actually like the food at, right?
- 10:09Speaker 1: How's our favorite gal doing? Oh, she's living her life,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you know, she's, she's a princess, but she was panting
- 10:14Speaker 1: so much on Sunday, like I could feel.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Her heating up and because she's black, right, like her
- 10:20Speaker 1: fur is black, I wonder whether it absorbs heat more
- 10:22Speaker 1: than like a white dog, for example. I mean, I'm curious,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and when I touch her, she actually feels very warm.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's a daily sauna. So you know what, my, my
- 10:32Speaker 1: Dyson Hush jet mini fan, I gave it to her.
- 10:37Speaker 1: She's using it, not me. But is the fan enough
- 10:41Speaker 1: for someone like Maxi with all that? Yeah, I mean,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's as best as we could do at that point.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So keep your pups cool, you know, it's super random.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Do you have a good side of your face? Like
- 10:51Speaker 1: which is your preferred side? When you take photos, I
- 10:55Speaker 1: just randomly thought.
- 10:56Speaker 1: My right side, right side when I look to my left. OK,
- 11:00Speaker 1: so the jawline is there. Oh, what happened to the
- 11:03Speaker 1: other side? I don't know. The other side just seems
- 11:05Speaker 1: a little bit weird. I don't think we're symmetrical, to
- 11:08Speaker 1: be honest. Like I prefer myself smiling like with teeth
- 11:11Speaker 1: on my right, but smiling with no teeth is left.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I digress. I mean, I would gladly take it from
- 11:19Speaker 1: you of all people who are so active on social
- 11:22Speaker 1: media and very involved, but that said, Sonia, we know
- 11:25Speaker 1: here in Singapore.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Low crime doesn't mean no crime, which was actually the
- 11:31Speaker 1: official slogan at one point. Yeah, and again, where is
- 11:35Speaker 1: the worst place to commit a crime here in Singapore exactly?
- 11:40Speaker 1: Are we going there again? When we come back, it's
- 11:42Speaker 1: been a while, but we do have another episode of Crime. Borri. Oh,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't see it yet. OK. There we go.
- 11:50Speaker 1: It's time for some Bodo crime, Bodo crime, Bodo crime,
- 11:53Speaker 1: Bodo crime, and we are going to Changi Airport. So
- 11:58Speaker 1: since this has been multiple times that people tried to
- 12:01Speaker 1: commit a crime in Changi Airport, I don't think we
- 12:04Speaker 1: should put a negative word or connotation to Changi anymore.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It should be the careless streets of Changi Airport because
- 12:11Speaker 1: the criminals are being too careless.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I don't think we can even call them criminals. The,
- 12:17Speaker 1: the wannabe criminals are too careless. I mean, they did
- 12:20Speaker 1: indeed commit a crime, but I'm sure they got caught
- 12:23Speaker 1: in like 5 minutes. Uh, yeah, somewhere around there. So
- 12:27Speaker 1: a 26-year-old British man has been arrested by the police
- 12:31Speaker 1: for his suspected involvement in the cases at Jewel Changi.
- 12:37Speaker 1: cases. Yeah, in the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal
- 12:41Speaker 1: 10 no. So what happens was at 6:35 p.m. on
- 12:45Speaker 1: an August evening, he was walking he saw this mannequin
- 12:50Speaker 1: wearing a very nice denim jacket that costs $350. OK.
- 12:56Speaker 1: What does he do? He tries to take it off
- 12:59Speaker 1: the mannequin, not tries, he stole the denim jacket.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And the store retailers realized, hey, how come, how come
- 13:05Speaker 1: our denim jacket is missing? How come the mannequin got
- 13:08Speaker 1: no clothes? Yeah, exactly. So when the police established identity,
- 13:16Speaker 1: he was already on the flight. So I think he
- 13:17Speaker 1: flew off with the jacket. But when he came back
- 13:20Speaker 1: while in transit, he was arrested. Oh my God, that's
- 13:23Speaker 1: so embarrassing. There you go, so embarrassing. They're like, why
- 13:26Speaker 1: did you steal a jacket from a mannequin?
- 13:30Speaker 1: OK, did he not think he was gonna get caught?
- 13:33Speaker 1: I mean, come on. It's so, so many CCTVs. Sonia
- 13:37Speaker 1: and I will never ever encourage crime, but if you
- 13:40Speaker 1: were to do something cheeky.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Changi Airport is the worst place to do it. Yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 1: not saying that you should do it anywhere else. No, no,
- 13:48Speaker 1: Changi Airport? Why? It's only the most protected place, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: is he Singaporean, this guy, did he not say? Uh,
- 13:55Speaker 1: he's on a British passport. So maybe they underestimate or
- 13:58Speaker 1: they are not as familiar. Some people may not be
- 14:00Speaker 1: as familiar with how strict we are. Still, I, I'm
- 14:03Speaker 1: very sure they must have heard on how high the
- 14:06Speaker 1: security is over at Changi Airport. So there you go.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Maybe he's just testing.
- 14:10Speaker 1: A, what is there to test, test the system. Every
- 14:15Speaker 1: 5 minutes you'll see the airport patrol walking around here
- 14:17Speaker 1: and there. He's doing it for research. Um, just a
- 14:20Speaker 1: quick one because you mentioned earlier, right? And we gave
- 14:21Speaker 1: you one story there. Um, this just popped up on
- 14:26Speaker 1: my feed last night and I wanted to address it
- 14:28Speaker 1: since you're on the topic of border crime.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Apparently, theft cases in homes have jumped 25% in the
- 14:36Speaker 1: first half of the year of 2026. Yeah, they're trying
- 14:42Speaker 1: to steal, yeah, break-in, steal from your home. Um, it's
- 14:45Speaker 1: not broken down into like, you know, whether someone was
- 14:48Speaker 1: already let into your home, then that person tried to
- 14:50Speaker 1: steal or was it.
- 14:51Speaker 1: You know, unfortunately, a helper or something, they didn't specify. Yeah,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but it seems like people have been trying to break
- 14:59Speaker 1: in a little bit more on, you know, maybe they
- 15:02Speaker 1: find their ways to go in and gain your trust
- 15:04Speaker 1: and then steal your items. I don't know. But I
- 15:07Speaker 1: have no idea whether this is going to be a
- 15:08Speaker 1: worrying sign or is it a worrying number or do
- 15:11Speaker 1: they have it under control because they also did a
- 15:14Speaker 1: stat on like outreach of modesty cases and shop theft
- 15:17Speaker 1: as well that all increased by a little bit.
- 15:20Speaker 1: By a little bit in 2026. That's in the world
- 15:22Speaker 1: of crime, but I think for our friends over at
- 15:25Speaker 1: SCDF maybe this year, yeah, a lot of fire cases
- 15:28Speaker 1: as well. What's up with that, man? I just saw
- 15:30Speaker 1: one or two more from yesterday's news and one or
- 15:33Speaker 1: so over at York Hotel Orchard. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I hope the person that got sent to the hospital
- 15:39Speaker 1: is doing OK. Actually, I, it's funny enough, I just
- 15:41Speaker 1: saw a post by a
- 15:44Speaker 1: bakery that I used to, that I used to have
- 15:49Speaker 1: cakes from before. OK.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's J Petit Patisserie. It's just a little update. Um,
- 15:54Speaker 1: it's with a heavy heart that we share a fire
- 15:56Speaker 1: occurred at our shop. We're assessing the situation and we
- 15:59Speaker 1: will be temporarily closed. It's a longer, it's a longer message,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but they, they're saying this isn't goodbye, we'll be back
- 16:05Speaker 1: baking for you soon. But just want to give a
- 16:07Speaker 1: big shout out to Jay Petit Patisserie. They're so good
- 16:10Speaker 1: with their cakes, delicious cakes they've sent me for my
- 16:13Speaker 1: birthday before. I was sending you so much love. I
- 16:15Speaker 1: don't know if any one of them is tuning in
- 16:17Speaker 1: right now, but
- 16:18Speaker 1: Looking out for you. It's funny, right, because the one
- 16:20Speaker 1: over at Junction 8, the Yakiniku like this table grill place,
- 16:26Speaker 1: it caught fire a few weeks ago. It's still been closed.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's closed ever since. Oh no, I think they're making
- 16:32Speaker 1: sure everything is working fine before they reopen everything again. Yeah, well,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think we need to get an SCDF expert to
- 16:37Speaker 1: come in and tell us why are there so many
- 16:39Speaker 1: fire-related cases recently, and then we get the police force.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Why are there so many home break-ins.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean, I'm curious. You got to get a criminal
- 16:48Speaker 1: psychologist for that one. Yeah, that's interesting. But some stats
- 16:51Speaker 1: would be cool, right? Joining us here this morning. Coming
- 16:54Speaker 1: up in just a bit, um, an incident that, well,
- 16:56Speaker 1: just happened to me yesterday when I booked some lunch,
- 17:00Speaker 1: or rather I suggested a place for lunch, catching up with.
- 17:04Speaker 1: The two girlfriends because they, they work around like town area, right?
- 17:08Speaker 1: So they said, OK, let's do a quick one, like
- 17:09Speaker 1: 1 hour, 1 hour and a half at the most,
- 17:11Speaker 1: then they got to go already. So I was like, sure,
- 17:13Speaker 1: this works for me, right after our show. So one
- 17:17Speaker 1: of my friends said, I really want to eat dim sum.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I'm super craving dim sum. So I said I got
- 17:21Speaker 1: excited because I said, um, this particular place that I
- 17:24Speaker 1: went to quite recently has good dim sum and it's
- 17:26Speaker 1: quite affordable. In town, in, so not, not overpriced or anything.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So then they say, OK, sure, like so excited, let's go.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I went there earlier, um, around the vicinity of the
- 17:38Speaker 1: Dim Sum restaurant to take a work call, OK? So
- 17:40Speaker 1: I was like, oh, do do do, like I'm early,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I'm early. Then I went to the shop, right? It
- 17:46Speaker 1: never ends well, does it? Closed. Sign said closed on Mondays.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Gonna open up phone lines regarding this in just a bit.
- 17:57Speaker 1: One you were early. I know, exactly. OK, so yesterday, um,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I agreed to go for a quick lunch, catch up
- 18:04Speaker 1: with two of my girlfriends who uh who not live,
- 18:07Speaker 1: who work around town, OK. So you live around town
- 18:12Speaker 1: with my girlfriends too. So you can stay there, right? convenient. Yeah, so,
- 18:17Speaker 1: so usually when we decide to meet up for lunch,
- 18:19Speaker 1: it will be either in Orchard or like CBD. So
- 18:21Speaker 1: either one of these places, right?
- 18:23Speaker 1: So then one of my friends said, I'm really craving
- 18:25Speaker 1: dim sum. Can we please go for a dim sum lunch?
- 18:28Speaker 1: So I suggested this place that I've been to before,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and I said, it's, it's pretty affordable. Um, I can
- 18:35Speaker 1: walk in and get us a table because they don't really,
- 18:38Speaker 1: they don't really do like online bookings. It's one of
- 18:40Speaker 1: those like, you know, very more old school places. So
- 18:43Speaker 1: I said, OK, I'm, since, you know, I got some
- 18:44Speaker 1: work calls, I'll just go to the vicinity earlier. I'll
- 18:47Speaker 1: go and get a table. So they say, OK, see
- 18:49Speaker 1: you there at 12, right? So I went and I
- 18:51Speaker 1: was like,
- 18:52Speaker 1: Like, oh, OK, uh, work call done. Um, I'm just
- 18:55Speaker 1: gonna sit here and reply some, you know, messages and emails, and,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and then I'll walk up and go and ask for
- 19:00Speaker 1: a table. And by the way, Sonia actually, well done.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm very proud. Yeah, usually social gatherings, um, if we
- 19:06Speaker 1: say meet at 12, everyone arrives at 12:30 or 1. Anyway, so,
- 19:10Speaker 1: so I went up and I was like, oh, do
- 19:13Speaker 1: do do do, like excited for my theme song, the
- 19:15Speaker 1: exact song you humming, in my head.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And uh when I got to the entrance of the
- 19:20Speaker 1: Dim Sum restaurant, the doors were shut and by right,
- 19:25Speaker 1: they open at 11:30, OK. So then I woke up
- 19:28Speaker 1: to the sign, which was quite a small sign, it
- 19:30Speaker 1: says closed on Mondays.
- 19:34Speaker 1: To which I think I, I went, ah, and I
- 19:37Speaker 1: face palmed.
- 19:39Speaker 1: And uh I think one of the staff like in
- 19:41Speaker 1: that particular establishment walked past me and they were like, yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 1: we're closed on Mondays. I was like, oops. I was
- 19:47Speaker 1: gonna say this, you should have Googled, but then, hang on,
- 19:51Speaker 1: sometimes on Google it might not be updated as well. Oh,
- 19:54Speaker 1: not accurate, is it? There were a couple of instances
- 19:57Speaker 1: where I thought the place was still there. I went there,
- 19:59Speaker 1: it's gone, right? Pently closed. That's the thing. So that's
- 20:02Speaker 1: the thing. When I initially when I searched, I didn't
- 20:04Speaker 1: see anything about it being
- 20:08Speaker 1: This is a place, and I don't want to blame germs,
- 20:10Speaker 1: but I'm going to. So this is a place that
- 20:14Speaker 1: did he do? Let me hear me out first. Stop
- 20:17Speaker 1: being on his side all the time, lah. You just
- 20:18Speaker 1: loosely blame him. OK, fine, I'll listen. Listen, listen. It's
- 20:22Speaker 1: just like it's his fault that I sprained my ankle also,
- 20:24Speaker 1: by the way.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So, um,
- 20:29Speaker 1: So, so the previous day, can you listen to me?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Why are you face palming laughing face palm. So this
- 20:36Speaker 1: is a dim sum place that um he brought me
- 20:39Speaker 1: to actually, and we've gone, we've gone there together several times, OK.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So then the, the day before I had mentioned to
- 20:46Speaker 1: him that like I wanted to go to this dim
- 20:48Speaker 1: sum place and I asked him actually, do you think
- 20:51Speaker 1: you can help me check for availability because he has
- 20:54Speaker 1: the app or some sort of number or something like that.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So then he goes on and he told, he told me,
- 21:00Speaker 1: oh yeah, I think you cannot reserve already, you just
- 21:02Speaker 1: got to walk in.
- 21:06Speaker 1: But maybe what was shown was no available seats because
- 21:09Speaker 1: it's closed, but perhaps there's, you know, it's not clear
- 21:12Speaker 1: enough as well on the app or on, on their,
- 21:14Speaker 1: on their site. OK, I don't know. Anyway, he casually
- 21:18Speaker 1: tells me this. Oh, I cannot book already, so you go,
- 21:20Speaker 1: you just walk in. So I say, OK, which is
- 21:22Speaker 1: not wrong. What he told you the truth. I walked
- 21:26Speaker 1: in and it's closed. So how is that his fault?
- 21:29Speaker 1: Because he told me no more space. Just walk in.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Why you never check yourself or just Google me again? No,
- 21:34Speaker 1: my fault again, my fault.
- 21:36Speaker 1: OK, yes. I also didn't, you know, I, I trusted his, uh, yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I trusted that it was open. OK. Anyway, it was
- 21:44Speaker 1: closed and thankfully because I was there quite much earlier,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I managed to call my friends and divert them and
- 21:50Speaker 1: told them to go to another dim sum restaurant in
- 21:52Speaker 1: town as I laugh at you.
- 21:54Speaker 1: This happened to me and my dad recently. We forgot
- 21:57Speaker 1: that Sami's was closed on Tuesdays. Oh, Tuesdays. That's random.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Went all the way there, realized, right? Gone. I know, closed.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Poor guy. And I went to Little India in the end.
- 22:08Speaker 1: So it's not gone. It was just closed on Tuesday,
- 22:10Speaker 1: Tuesday off, OK.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Give us a call, 669-11987 or drop us a message,
- 22:16Speaker 1: 90050987 and tell us, has this ever happened to you before?
- 22:22Speaker 1: Maybe you didn't quite check properly or maybe you just
- 22:24Speaker 1: relied on the fact that, oh, I've been to this
- 22:26Speaker 1: place many times and you just go and you realize,
- 22:28Speaker 1: oh no, the place I wanted to go is closed.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Either closed for the day or permanently closed.
- 22:34Speaker 1: It could work both ways, OK. There have been times
- 22:37Speaker 1: where I ordered food from like a particular place, only
- 22:40Speaker 1: for the Grab driver to text me saying like, sis, uh,
- 22:44Speaker 1: shop closed down already. I'm like, Why? Why is this
- 22:46Speaker 1: still listed? So how do you get a refund? Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you get a refund. And does the rider get compensated?
- 22:52Speaker 1: I can only hope so. I'm unsure about the back.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I'm sure they do. So you know what, 669-11987. Call
- 22:59Speaker 1: us or WhatsApp us your stories at 90050987. If we
- 23:03Speaker 1: do like your answer, a dining experience for two worth
- 23:06Speaker 1: $256 to Mosella, it is coming your way. Yeah, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: this one they are there for sure, OK, over at
- 23:13Speaker 1: Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Oh, well, this happened to me yesterday and I didn't
- 23:18Speaker 1: want to feel so alone, so I asked you this
- 23:20Speaker 1: question today. Have you ever made plans to meet at
- 23:22Speaker 1: a particular restaurant or cafe or F&B place? Yeah. Only
- 23:26Speaker 1: to realize upon arrival that it's shut. Saying good morning
- 23:30Speaker 1: to PL. Morning So Kim. I have a real-life funny
- 23:33Speaker 1: story to share.
- 23:34Speaker 1: The banana cake that broke my heart. I crossed the
- 23:37Speaker 1: border into JB on a Sunday without checking on Google,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and I went in with the mission more important than shopping,
- 23:43Speaker 1: a promise. I told my parents, grandparents, and friends, Don't worry,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'll buy you the Yap Drew banana cake. Oh, it's.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I could already imagine myself returning home like a hero.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And then closed. At that moment my soul left my body.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I didn't lose my wallet, I didn't lose my passport,
- 24:01Speaker 1: didn't even lose my way in JB. I lost the
- 24:04Speaker 1: banana cake. And worst of all, I had to face
- 24:06Speaker 1: the people I confidently promised to. And you know what, sometimes.
- 24:11Speaker 1: They also don't want to show that they're disappointed, right?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Because they don't want to make you feel even worse
- 24:16Speaker 1: about it. So I think I learned my lessons. I think. Yeah, yeah, honestly,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I feel like in the recent years, a lot of
- 24:27Speaker 1: places might have changed their opening timings or operating hours
- 24:31Speaker 1: and some places actually closed like 2.
- 24:32Speaker 1: A week or they may only open for 4 days
- 24:35Speaker 1: a week, for example, only dinner or only lunch, you know,
- 24:38Speaker 1: so you gotta, gotta check. So to the F&B places,
- 24:41Speaker 1: even our hawkers here in Singapore, auntie uncle, if you
- 24:44Speaker 1: can ask your niece and nephew to help you update
- 24:46Speaker 1: Google for the opening and closing time because we want
- 24:50Speaker 1: to support you. Yes, sometimes I think this definitely.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's an issue like my friend um was trying to
- 24:56Speaker 1: make a booking at this place, not F&B related, but
- 24:59Speaker 1: it's also like appointment-based, and it's an old school like
- 25:02Speaker 1: jeweler where they actually do certain things for you, like
- 25:05Speaker 1: old school stuff, you know, and she's been wanting to
- 25:07Speaker 1: make an appointment there, so she can't speak Mandarin, she
- 25:10Speaker 1: can't speak Mandarin at all. So she asked me for,
- 25:12Speaker 1: for my help, OK, of all people, right?
- 25:16Speaker 1: Um, and, uh, I, she said when she reached out
- 25:18Speaker 1: she couldn't communicate with the uncle, so I managed to
- 25:21Speaker 1: knock something together in a bit of Mandarin and managed
- 25:24Speaker 1: to get the uncle to understand what I was saying
- 25:26Speaker 1: and book her an appointment. But sometimes with the older generation,
- 25:30Speaker 1: if they don't understand you, they just hang up, you see.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Can you give me the one phrase to use in Mandarin, please,
- 25:34Speaker 1: to the uncle? I said, uh, Uncle Nisi, then insert
- 25:37Speaker 1: name circle, like, you know, are you this person? Then
- 25:41Speaker 1: he said, sir, like yes.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Then I knew it was him already lah because he
- 25:45Speaker 1: hung out with my friend who didn't know how to
- 25:46Speaker 1: speak Mandarin. So how you I said, uh, Niowei ma.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Got space.
- 25:55Speaker 1: That I it. Water Peng yo yao wei. OK, get,
- 26:00Speaker 1: get to the point. Wow, your Chinese doing very good,
- 26:01Speaker 1: I must say that one F for fail anyway, when
- 26:08Speaker 1: we come back, more of your calls and your messages.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Still got time for you to call us and text us,
- 26:13Speaker 1: by the way. Have you ever arranged to meet at
- 26:16Speaker 1: a location only to realize that that shop was closed
- 26:20Speaker 1: based off my own experience yesterday?
- 26:22Speaker 1: slash subscribe. Here's the message. Anderson Paak, too bad, right
- 26:26Speaker 1: here on 987, Singapore's number one hit music station, which
- 26:29Speaker 1: I guess was what I said to myself yesterday when
- 26:32Speaker 1: I realized the dim sum place I suggested was closed,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and I was like, ah, too bad. Really wanted them
- 26:38Speaker 1: to try it. It's really good.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But it was a lesson to just check next time, um,
- 26:44Speaker 1: more in advance, I guess. So we are heading to
- 26:46Speaker 1: more of your messages and calls right now. Has this
- 26:48Speaker 1: ever happened to you before? OK, I want to say
- 26:51Speaker 1: good morning to Yang Yang says, Hey guys, there's this
- 26:54Speaker 1: noodle store that I really love, Hok Heng Fish Noodle.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Google, it's closed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. But when
- 27:02Speaker 1: I went on these days, sometimes it opens, sometimes it doesn't.
- 27:07Speaker 1: So one day I went to ask the owner, when
- 27:09Speaker 1: is their rest day. This is our convo. Uncle, when
- 27:12Speaker 1: is your rest day? The uncle says, We rest on Monday.
- 27:16Speaker 1: But that day, Tuesday, I come, you're never open late.
- 27:18Speaker 1: The uncle replies, Woman qing liang lah.
- 27:21Speaker 1: We try our best, OK, OK. So I concluded their
- 27:24Speaker 1: business operating days is depending on mood. It is really
- 27:27Speaker 1: good though, and I always drop by. I'm here today.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Today Uncle Ching Yang got open. Hey, don't show me that.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna get so hungry. I love noodles. OK, actually, wait,
- 27:35Speaker 1: drop me the address. Hong Fish.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Heng Fish noodles, which area is that? Hong noodle. I
- 27:41Speaker 1: check for you. Is it? OK, yeah, check, check. Upper
- 27:44Speaker 1: Boon Keng Road. Upper. OK. I have a friend who
- 27:46Speaker 1: lives near there. I'll ask her whether it's worth the
- 27:48Speaker 1: trip down. Yeah, I'll ask her. Actually, I hear of
- 27:51Speaker 1: a very popular Boon Keng fish soup store. It could
- 27:53Speaker 1: be this one. Boon Heng Hong Hong Boon Keng. Hello.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Sorry, I misheard. with your hearing. What did I say
- 28:07Speaker 1: I'm sorry, what did I say? You
- 28:09Speaker 2: said.
- 28:14Speaker 1: You said.
- 28:14Speaker 2: No,
- 28:16Speaker 1: I
- 28:16Speaker 2: said
- 28:16Speaker 1: Boon
- 28:17Speaker 2: Heng.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Boon Heng. Can you stop it? You're showing me off. OK,
- 28:21Speaker 1: Louis is on. Where's the store? Boon Keng. What's it called?
- 28:25Speaker 1: Hok Heng. Good dude, they all sound the same, bro.
- 28:30Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Louis, what about you? Has this happened to you before?
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yes, it happened to me before. Uh, so there was
- 28:37Speaker 2: once where, you know, I had a mad craving for rosti, and, uh,
- 28:42Speaker 2: there was this, uh, specific, uh, western that sells, you know,
- 28:46Speaker 2: rosti at along Simon Road, so.
- 28:49Speaker 2: So, um, the night before I actually googled, uh, whether
- 28:52Speaker 2: that place was open. So apparently it was open, but, uh,
- 28:55Speaker 2: little did I know that they actually changed the restaurant's name.
- 28:59Speaker 2: So apparently the entire menu was changed as well. So,
- 29:03Speaker 2: you know, the next day I woke up, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 2: still had the craving.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Um, drove all the way down to, to Simon Road,
- 29:09Speaker 2: and then I noticed that the store was looking a
- 29:12Speaker 2: little bit different. I didn't, yeah, and I didn't notice, uh,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you know, like the signbox was different and everything, so
- 29:19Speaker 2: I want to order Rosi and then the, the owner
- 29:21Speaker 2: just told me that, oh no, we don't sell rosti anymore. We,
- 29:24Speaker 2: we still sell Western, but you know, the menu is different.
- 29:27Speaker 1: If I'm not wrong, I think the store name was
- 29:29Speaker 1: Piggy Snout. Here's my question, right? Like if you have
- 29:33Speaker 1: a specific craving for Ros.
- 29:35Speaker 1: And you think of this restaurant. Isn't that their specialty then?
- 29:38Speaker 1: The rusty must be good. So why did they remove it?
- 29:42Speaker 1: Maybe new direction, new owners. No, you know what, this
- 29:44Speaker 1: is always the case, right, with PS Cafe, OK, and
- 29:48Speaker 1: I love PS Cafe. I go there, you know, sometimes
- 29:50Speaker 1: family quite often, but they changed their menu and they
- 29:53Speaker 1: took some items off, to which they're my favorite items. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 2: and you won't, you won't know whether it's,
- 30:01Speaker 1: exactly. So sometimes I'm like, hey.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Sometimes I'll just ask the waitress, can I ask you
- 30:04Speaker 1: a question? Why you remove? Then she said, actually not,
- 30:07Speaker 1: not us, but I don't know.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh man, that's quite sad because where do
- 30:11Speaker 1: I get it now, right? OK, note to all customers,
- 30:14Speaker 1: when the menu changes, it is not the waiter's fault.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Ask for the manager. It isn't, it isn't. I wasn't
- 30:20Speaker 1: blaming them. No, no, no. I'm so curious like why
- 30:22Speaker 1: is it removed and are people asking for it. Sometimes
- 30:25Speaker 1: they admit, they say, yeah, people ask like why, what
- 30:27Speaker 1: happened to that. Anyway, Simon, I your name is Simon.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Louis from Simon Road.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Sorry. OK, we still got time for maybe one last
- 30:38Speaker 1: message and one final call here. Talking about my experience yesterday,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I planned a dim sum lunch, a quick one with
- 30:45Speaker 1: my two friends who work in the CBD area, only
- 30:48Speaker 1: to realize upon arriving that they don't open on Mondays. Thankfully,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I managed to divert them somewhere else before they arrived.
- 30:55Speaker 1: We got one text coming in from Evan, who says,
- 30:58Speaker 1: morning people and listeners of 987.
- 31:01Speaker 1: There was once I was craving for this particular laksa
- 31:04Speaker 1: and Eunos. Oh, I know which one. I woke up early,
- 31:08Speaker 1: drove all the way down for it. Before that, I
- 31:11Speaker 1: made sure to Google that it was open. I checked.
- 31:14Speaker 1: When I was there, I was greeted with a Hamilton
- 31:16Speaker 1: piece of note on the hawker shutters. We are closed
- 31:19Speaker 1: for 2 weeks. Boss go holiday. I lost my appetite
- 31:23Speaker 1: that morning and my wife was really angry with me.
- 31:26Speaker 1: That I woke up from a beauty sleep to go
- 31:28Speaker 1: all the way there for nothing. OK, but not your fault.
- 31:31Speaker 1: This one, they, they don't, I'm assuming hawks like that
- 31:34Speaker 1: they don't have like social media platforms to, right, unless
- 31:40Speaker 1: they have like a second generation or like their kids
- 31:40Speaker 1: who can help them. You're right, yeah. OK, uh, last
- 31:44Speaker 1: but not least, Adrian, what about you? I'll tell you what, I,
- 31:46Speaker 1: I woke up late today, so I just tuned in,
- 31:48Speaker 1: but before I tune in, my friend texted me, said, hey,
- 31:51Speaker 1: listen to Sonia and Joakim, they're talking about a top
- 31:53Speaker 1: on you.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I have been to restaurants, hawkers. Everywhere that I go,
- 31:58Speaker 1: they are closed, either for washing on hawkers, restaurants, they
- 32:01Speaker 1: are closed, and my luck has been down ever since.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So I've been relying on Google or even
- 32:07Speaker 1: NEA website on when the hawker is closed for washing.
- 32:11Speaker 1: So my friend encouraged me to call in. Hi, morning.
- 32:14Speaker 1: So Adrian, when you plan it, it's closed, but when
- 32:17Speaker 1: others plan it and you come along, is it OK? Precisely.
- 32:20Speaker 1: That's the thing. I shouldn't organize and that's that's what
- 32:24Speaker 1: we've been doing now. We organize, they will make the booking. Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 1: COVID. Basically, you just have to show up. I mean
- 32:31Speaker 1: that's not such a bad idea. You just go along
- 32:33Speaker 1: with it. Yes, that's why. So we will propose a place.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I cannot even propose a place now. They will propose
- 32:40Speaker 1: the place, they will make the bookings. Yeah. And maybe
- 32:45Speaker 1: you need some like, you need to, you know, burn
- 32:46Speaker 1: some sage or like do some.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Change the energy or let me, let me search for you. What,
- 32:53Speaker 1: what crystal can help you, please, please. I'm kidding. No crystals, OK,
- 32:59Speaker 1: in your house or something. I'm not sure. I thought
- 33:01Speaker 1: this was only to my, my friends and my colleagues
- 33:05Speaker 1: if I were to arrange.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Uh, some, uh, dinner place. Apparently, uh, it happens to
- 33:10Speaker 1: my wife as well. So when we plan to go
- 33:12Speaker 1: for some makan, uh, somehow or other the place is closed. So,
- 33:16Speaker 1: between myself and my wife, we always make it a
- 33:18Speaker 1: point that we check, we ensure that the place is
- 33:20Speaker 1: open for business before we go down. So some of
- 33:23Speaker 1: the places that we frequent, we know when are the
- 33:25Speaker 1: closing dates, we try to avoid. And that's why, yeah.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Well, Adrian, I, I don't know what to say, but
- 33:32Speaker 1: I'm wishing you good luck for your next organized outing. Yeah. Yeah,
- 33:36Speaker 1: maybe the tide will turn. The energy will shift time, yes. Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Adrian. Good morning. Um, down to
- 33:44Speaker 1: another AI slot moment. Yeah, this one involving TikTok shop
- 33:48Speaker 1: and Shopee. Well I think I'm more familiar with TikTok
- 33:51Speaker 1: shop because now
- 33:52Speaker 1: allowed creators, for example, if Sonia Chew has a TikTok
- 33:55Speaker 1: shop stall, you, you can basically register it to yourself
- 33:59Speaker 1: and you can start selling things and you can use
- 34:01Speaker 1: AI generated videos to promote the product that you're selling,
- 34:05Speaker 1: to which there is a book called Ghost Hunters of
- 34:08Speaker 1: Geylang written by Xie Shimin, not something Jo would be reading, yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 1: And it is not a children's book, but unfortunately the
- 34:17Speaker 1: AI generated video depicted it as a children's book. Oh,
- 34:23Speaker 1: like Geylang is our playground. We play there and we
- 34:25Speaker 1: fight ghosts. And more troubling for the author was how
- 34:29Speaker 1: the video portrayed her young adult book with horror elements
- 34:33Speaker 1: as a fun 10 gosh, help.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And and the book only has the word durian mentioned
- 34:40Speaker 1: in one sentence, OK, but in the video, plus all
- 34:44Speaker 1: the eylang details can smell durian already. Oh my gosh,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but this wasn't sold by the author herself, right? It, no,
- 34:51Speaker 1: like on a third party platform. So maybe someone bulk
- 34:53Speaker 1: bought the book and it was in the description, like
- 34:56Speaker 1: a written description, is it? Or like a video? It's
- 34:58Speaker 1: an AI video. It's an actual video. Oh no.
- 35:02Speaker 1: What can, I mean, what can this author do like
- 35:06Speaker 1: she has written into Shopee's website and she's written into
- 35:09Speaker 1: TikTok shop as well, but not really much of a response. No. So, so, yeah,
- 35:14Speaker 1: a lot of other people who are also having their
- 35:17Speaker 1: products sold by third parties on TikTok or Shopee because
- 35:21Speaker 1: of these AI slot generated videos, they are not too
- 35:24Speaker 1: happy with how their products are being sold.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, this is, here's the problem that
- 35:29Speaker 1: I have, right? And it's not that I don't embrace AI.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I do. I think it, it's wonderful in some ways, um,
- 35:35Speaker 1: but we need to have the right way of approaching it, right?
- 35:38Speaker 1: But in school back then when I was in like
- 35:41Speaker 1: poly and uni, they taught us so much about, you know, uh, plagiarism,
- 35:45Speaker 1: for example, like lifting and just dumping it into your essay, like, OK,
- 35:48Speaker 1: you're not allowed to do that, you know, you have
- 35:50Speaker 1: to be very careful. You got to double-check, triple check,
- 35:52Speaker 1: and all that.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Now, I feel like we've taken a few steps back
- 35:55Speaker 1: because a lot of people rely a lot on AI
- 35:59Speaker 1: to generate, like, let's say, generate a speech for me
- 36:01Speaker 1: today based on this. And sometimes you don't put in
- 36:04Speaker 1: the extra effort to go check it, check it twice
- 36:06Speaker 1: or 3 times, you know what I mean? So people
- 36:08Speaker 1: just lift it and go wholesale with it, which is
- 36:12Speaker 1: everything that we were taught not to do back when
- 36:13Speaker 1: I was taking my degree.
- 36:15Speaker 1: So the best thing you can do if if you
- 36:17Speaker 1: encounter an AI slot video for your live shop or whatsoever,
- 36:21Speaker 1: just go to Google search it, read the proper reviews,
- 36:24Speaker 1: and maybe even search the author's name or the product's
- 36:27Speaker 1: name and see what pops up and hopefully you can
- 36:29Speaker 1: read and verify for yourself. By the way, um, as
- 36:32Speaker 1: capable as your AI platforms are, they can still make mistakes. Exactly,
- 36:37Speaker 1: like for sure, especially if you're not on premium, I
- 36:39Speaker 1: think maybe that's their way of pushing you to buy.
