  SPEAKER_05: We we love a little uh back and forth, but overall, just an awesome time with a bunch of good people.

  SPEAKER_05: McLean Stadium, Waco, the whole you know, game day atmosphere.

  SPEAKER_04: Honestly, I think that's the the perfect way to describe it.

  SPEAKER_04: Is it's small but nice.

  SPEAKER_04: You know, it's it's obviously it's not it's not your blowouts like your huge state schools that you know you'd be used to um in other in other college towns, but you know, it's just like it everything's pretty top of the line with you know, just everything's just good to go, and you're gonna you're gonna be very satisfied being there.

  SPEAKER_05: The the area is beautiful, I will say.

  SPEAKER_05: The stadium looks very nice, it's right on the river, the bridge looks great.

  SPEAKER_05: Uh good views, good views, and the Brazos parking lot where they have all the tailgating.

  SPEAKER_05: We did, we did, or I don't know if you did, but I almost witnessed uh Kyle from the Gambling Gauchos and Maddie Nomeo get into it uh with another Baylor tailgate.

  SPEAKER_05: And uh Joe Goodman came in and actually was the guy who wanted to like throw some fists.

  SPEAKER_05: It was insane.

  SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, no, I didn't catch that.

  SPEAKER_05: It was a nutty time.

  SPEAKER_05: We were trying to find Maddie and Kyle, and they couldn't like find us in the tailgating area.

  SPEAKER_05: And I guess they tried to pass through one of the other tailgates, and these like 50-year-old dudes were having none of it, and they were like, You can't, you can't just pass through here whenever you want.

  SPEAKER_05: And it's like, dude, we're just trying to pass through.

  SPEAKER_05: And then Joe came in, fire in his eyes.

  SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, started talking to this guy, telling him, dude, he's just passing through, he's just trying to get over to my tailgate.

  SPEAKER_05: And then, you know, there was some there was some words and some back and forth, and I was like, I was I was thinking, oh my god, we got some bailer on bailer going on right here.

  SPEAKER_05: But uh, it was a heck of a time.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the other I I I didn't notice that perhaps those little two soda popped.

  SPEAKER_04: Um, but um it was like I said, dude, I I I only I was I had such a chill time, so I was having a great, great, great time in my world world, I guess.

  SPEAKER_05: No, it was just for it was for a second because it I think we actually went away from our area to go try to find them.

  SPEAKER_05: Prior to this, because game was at seven, prior to this, we go to the crickets, uh, the Waco location, which I did not know they had, but uh obviously much bigger than the one in Lubbock, a little cleaner, a little less smoky.

  SPEAKER_05: But hey, it was a fun time.

  SPEAKER_05: They sat down, they sat down what 12 of us immediately at a big table.

  SPEAKER_05: We were watching UT lose at the last second, the place goes crazy.

  SPEAKER_05: Uh, crickets, great time.

  SPEAKER_04: Oh, for sure, dude.

  SPEAKER_04: It's it's always cool like stopping by your college bars in different places as well.

  SPEAKER_04: Like, if the if I was ever in another college town with the chimmies, I obviously had to stop by the chimmies.

  SPEAKER_04: So you know, it's just gonna be like a satellite red raider stop in.

  SPEAKER_05: So absolutely the chimmies in Fort Worth rules, so shout out them.

  SPEAKER_05: Um, and then obviously the game.

  SPEAKER_05: What inside the stadium?

  SPEAKER_05: So what it was probably 85% full at the start, maybe 90.

  SPEAKER_05: They I mean they had a pretty good crowd there.

  SPEAKER_05: It wasn't it wasn't weak, but I think the Baylor crowd in general is just not very rowdy.

  SPEAKER_05: They just don't.

  SPEAKER_05: It's I I compared it to a WNBA game.

  SPEAKER_05: And if you've ever been to a WNBA game, it's like you know, they need a lot of help.

  SPEAKER_05: It's more of a like a family-friendly atmosphere.

  SPEAKER_05: They have like a hype guy that comes on in between you know, quarters and downs and all that kind of stuff to kind of hype up the crowd, but there's not a lot of uh not a lot of swearing, not a lot of this or that.

  SPEAKER_05: It's just kind of you know, a family fun atmosphere.

  SPEAKER_04: No, I I I think I've I think we've talked to Baylor fans that have the similar criticisms that they'll usually say, you know, it's it's usually an older crowd that they have.

  SPEAKER_04: They have an older, more mature, like calmer crowd that comes through.

  SPEAKER_04: Um, because you're you know, obviously you're at a college football game, so you really expect rowdy and you're you're just not gonna get it there.

  SPEAKER_04: And I mean it different flavors for different folks.

  SPEAKER_04: I think that's kind of Baylor University in general at the end of the day.

  SPEAKER_04: It's I don't think it's really it ever wants to paint itself as a more party central zone, like a like a Texas Tech and AM or you know, a Texas State or anything like that.

  SPEAKER_04: So I I think I think that's just something they should generally try to avoid, um, just just because they're clientele.

  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and maybe it's different if Baylor's having a better season or anything like that, you know.

  SPEAKER_05: But I mean they were coming off of um an insane comeback versus UCF, sure, you know, winning, and you'd think they but it really was kind of over from the start, I thought.

  SPEAKER_05: Um you know, we can kind of talk about the game now, but um immediate first drive touchdown for Texas Tech.

  SPEAKER_05: Uh, we did the same thing versus Houston even after the kickoff return for the touchdown.

  SPEAKER_05: We went down our first offensive possession, scored a touchdown.

  SPEAKER_05: So um, same thing happened here with Baylor, and it just gets you ahead, it gets your offense rolling.

  SPEAKER_05: I really had no worries throughout any of this game.

  SPEAKER_04: Neither did I, dude.

  SPEAKER_04: I was I was calm the whole time about the the results on the field because it it just seemed like we were in it ready to go.

  SPEAKER_04: As soon as we got that first touchdown and we shut them out the whole first quarter, it looked like things were really gonna roll our way this time around.

  SPEAKER_04: And I it they as soon as we got really rolling, like it's you know, finished in the half, what 17 to 3?

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it felt pretty in the bag at that point with with just just because of how in control we seemed from the start.

  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we we only gave up one touchdown, um, a couple field goals, and I think they got a two-point conversion on that touchdown, which is what made it 14.

  SPEAKER_05: And then uh final score was what 39-14.

  SPEAKER_05: So yes, uh offense didn't go nuts, but they did what they needed to do to win.

  SPEAKER_05: And the fact that they kept the ball in Taj Brooks' hands the entire time led to this win.

  SPEAKER_05: I mean, he had 31 carries for 170 yards, touchdown.

  SPEAKER_05: He did fumble one time.

  SPEAKER_05: It was only his second fumble of his career, but I mean, just another you we asked him, we said Zach Kidley, run the damn ball.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he seems to be listening to the very annoying fans like us, like just yelling it over and over again, man.

  SPEAKER_04: I remember being up in the crowd, just like saying, All right, so it's third, third and five or six, whatever.

  SPEAKER_04: He's gonna get that first down, and he did every time he'd get those yards for you every dang time, man.

  SPEAKER_04: He is solidifying himself as not just one of the best running backs in the Big 12, but one of the best running backs in the entire country.

  SPEAKER_04: And he's got the numbers to show for it now.

  SPEAKER_05: Taj Brooks, fifth in the nation in rushing yards right now.

  SPEAKER_05: But you know, we we needed him, uh obviously, he's our best offensive weapon, but Barron was great.

  SPEAKER_05: He only had like, I think, 180 total passing yards, three touchdowns, one rushing touchdown there at the very end.

  SPEAKER_05: Barron, uh I think you can kind of tell that the coaching staff he's a little dinged up.

  SPEAKER_05: He's still get kind of you know lingering with that shoulder injury that he suffered against West Virginia, but he is doing exactly what he needs to do to lead this team to wins.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and he's he's really kind of taking on that leader role.

  SPEAKER_04: You know, he has to, he's stepping up into that position to you know to get the job done.

  SPEAKER_04: And speaking of that, you know, you just said that offense didn't go off, but dude, I think I would take 39 points every game.

  SPEAKER_05: Uh especially if your defense was as good as it was.

  SPEAKER_05: You know, it's uh but naturally when you run the ball 31 times, you're just not gonna score that many points.

  SPEAKER_05: Um, even if Tosh Brooks was averaging six yards a carry, you're still lingering down the field, which is great because it gives your defense time to rest, um, which was I I think a super huge part of this win.

  SPEAKER_05: We could talk about the defense in a bit, but um, yeah, it was it was very complimentary football, which is not something you normally see at a Texas Tech.

  SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't think you needed to see a Patrick Mahomes performance out of Barron Morton wherever you have a uh running back like Taj Brooks.

  SPEAKER_04: I don't think we want to see that sort of reliance on a more unpredictable game, whenever you have a workhorse that can get you those yards on the ground at the end of the day, you know?

  SPEAKER_05: But this is a guy that uh I know Joey and the staff have hyped up a lot of guys, but they've hyped up this guy as well as being a cornerstone for the future of Texas Tech football at the receiving position.

  SPEAKER_04: I mean, yes, he really honed in on one dude, but it got into the hands of a lot of people.

  SPEAKER_05: Barron Morton doesn't, you know, we have you could we could complain here or there about like Jaron Bradley not getting enough or whatever.

  SPEAKER_05: He had one big catch that did end up getting uh reversed because of an offensive PI.

  SPEAKER_05: Uh, you know, Baylor Cup, obviously, his only two catches were two touchdowns.

  SPEAKER_05: He loves to get everybody open, keep everybody involved.

  SPEAKER_05: And even by doing that, just by giving them a target, keeps their head mentally in the game.
