- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 23rd.
- 0:11Strength and stillness. Sometimes the strongest thing
- 0:14you can do is pause. Not react, not defend yourself
- 0:17immediately, not let anger or anxiety take the steering wheel.
- 0:23Proverbs chapter 14 verse 29 says whoever is slow to anger
- 0:27has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts
- 0:31folly. In a world that rewards quick
- 0:33reactions. God teaches us the strength of
- 0:36self-control. Psalm 46 verse 10 says be still
- 0:41and know that I am God. Stillness is not weakness, it is
- 0:44trust. It is choosing to remember that
- 0:47God is God even when your emotions are loud and your
- 0:51circumstances feel chaotic. Romans Chapter 7 verses 22 to 23
- 0:57reminds us that even Paul knew the struggle of wanting what is
- 1:00right while feeling another battle inside.
- 1:03That inner battle is real. You may want to be patient but
- 1:07still snap. You may want to trust God but
- 1:10still panic. You may want to do what is right
- 1:12but feel pulled the other way. God is not surprised by that
- 1:16struggle. He meets you in it.
- 1:19Being still does not mean ignoring problems.
- 1:22It means refusing to let the problem become bigger in your
- 1:24heart than God. It means breathing before you
- 1:28speak, praying before you act, and surrendering before you
- 1:30spiral. Today, when pressure rises,
- 1:33pause. Ask God for wisdom.
- 1:35Let His peace slow you down. You do not have to be controlled
- 1:39by every emotion that passes through you in Christ.
- 1:43You can respond with understanding instead of
- 1:45impulse. There's strength in stillness
- 1:48because stillness makes room for God's voice.
- 1:51Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 1:53being steady. When I feel overwhelmed, help me
- 1:57slow down before I react and trust You in the middle of my
- 1:59struggles. Teach me to be still, to
- 2:02remember that you are God, and to respond with wisdom instead
- 2:05of anger. Let your peace guide my heart
- 2:08today. In Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:15What if you could rise up and declare with full spiritual
- 2:18authority, I shall not die but live?

- 3:19Proverbs chapter 14, verses 28 to 29 World English Bible.
- 3:25In the multitude of people is the King's glory, but in the
- 3:28lack of people is the destruction of the Prince.
- 3:31He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who
- 3:34has a quick temper displays folly.
- 3:37Psalm Chapter 46 World English Bible for the chief musician by
- 3:42the sons of Korah According to a Lamothe God is our refuge and
- 3:47strength, a very present help in trouble.
- 3:50Therefore we won't be afraid. Though the earth changes, though
- 3:54the mountains are shaken into the heart of the Seas, though
- 3:57its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains
- 4:00tremble with their swelling. Selah.
- 4:03There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad.
- 4:07The holy place of the tents of the Most High God is within her.
- 4:10She shall not be moved. God will help her.
- 4:13At dawn the nations raged, the kingdoms were moved.
- 4:17He lifted his voice and the earth melted.
- 4:19Yahweh of armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.
- 4:23Selah. Come see Yahweh's works.
- 4:26What desolations He has made in the earth.
- 4:28He makes wars cease to the end of the earth.
- 4:31He breaks the bow and shatters the spear.
- 4:33He burns the Chariots in the fire.
- 4:36Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the
- 4:39nations. I will be exalted in the earth.
- 4:42Yahweh of armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.
- 4:46Selah. Romans Chapter 7 World English
- 4:50Bible. Or don't you know brothers?
- 4:52For I speak to men who know the law, that the law has dominion
- 4:55over a man for as long as he lives.
- 4:58For the woman that has a husband is bound by law to the husband
- 5:01while he lives. But if the husband dies, she is
- 5:04discharged from the law of the husband.
- 5:07So then if while the husband lives, she is joined to another
- 5:10man, she would be called an adulteress.
- 5:14But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she
- 5:17is no adulteress, though she is joined to another man.
- 5:21Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law
- 5:24through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another,
- 5:27to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce
- 5:30fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh,
- 5:34the sinful passions which were through the law worked in our
- 5:37members to bring out fruit to death.
- 5:40But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to
- 5:43that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of the
- 5:46Spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.
- 5:49What shall we say then? Is the law sin?
- 5:52May it never be. However, I wouldn't have known
- 5:54sin except through the law. For I wouldn't have known
- 5:58coveting unless the law had said, You shall not covet.
- 6:01But sin finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me
- 6:05all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law sin is
- 6:09dead. I was alive apart from the law
- 6:11once, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
- 6:16The commandment which was for life, this I found to be for
- 6:19death. For sin finding occasion through
- 6:21the commandment deceived me, and through it killed me.
- 6:25Therefore the Law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy,
- 6:28righteous, and good. Did then that which is good
- 6:31become death to me? May it never be but sin that it
- 6:36might be shown to be Sin was producing death in me through
- 6:39that which is good, that through the commandment sin might become
- 6:42exceedingly sinful. For we know that the Law is
- 6:46spiritual. But I am fleshly sold under sin.
- 6:49For I don't understand what I am doing.
- 6:51For I don't practice what I desire to do, but what I hate
- 6:54that I do. But if what I don't desire that
- 6:57I do, I consent to the law that it is good.
- 7:00So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me.
- 7:05For I know that in me that is in my flesh dwells no good thing.
- 7:09For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that
- 7:12which is good. For the good which I desire I
- 7:15don't do, but the evil which I don't desire that I practice.
- 7:19But if what I don't desire that I do, it is no more I that do
- 7:22it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the law that while I
- 7:27desire to do good, evil is present.
- 7:30For I delight in God's law after the inward person.
- 7:33But I see a different law in my members, warring against the law
- 7:37of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin
- 7:41which is in my members. What a wretched man I am who
- 7:45will deliver me out of the body of this death.
- 7:48I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- 7:50So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the
- 7:53flesh sins law. Thanks for joining us on Bible
