- 0:27Welcome to another episode of Pop Culture Junkie. I'm Nicole here with my fellow junkies.
- 0:33Olivia and Shauna. And we're kind of hanging out today. I don't want to ask you guys a random
- 0:42question I'm sitting on right now. I don't know why I popped into my head. The answer is yes.
- 0:46Oh, that's not even an option. Naked. Okay. So that could be an answer.
- 0:52With peanut butter. Yeah, yeah, give us. So summer is right around the corner. I know. And I'm
- 1:02very excited even though it's going to be extremely hot and we're going to be sweating our
- 1:07butts off. But that's okay. 50. Yeah. Everybody come to Arizona. Yeah. We're helping tourism.
- 1:15I feel like a lot of good things come out in the summer. Is there something that you're excited
- 1:22for this summer? Like a concert, a movie, in your case, Olivia, a book that is possibly coming out
- 1:30that you're thinking of. Actually, so last year I was asked to go on about like 20 trips. And I
- 1:39in my mind went, yeah, I can go to that. And so from now until summer, I am traveling like every
- 1:46other weekend. So I think that that's just my general excitement for it. But I think for me,
- 1:53I think of summer in Arizona as like my hyper nation season. So I either want to get out of Arizona
- 2:01because it's so hot or during the daytime, like I will not leave my 70 degree apartment.
- 2:06And that's yes. That's peace. Yes. Finding my peace. I think summer is my favorite season because it
- 2:14just reminds me of like summer vacation so much as a kid. And so it all just feels nostalgic to
- 2:19me like the smell of suntan lotion sunscreen. Like just invokes those memories. I just I'm craving a
- 2:27pool party. I want to be by a pool with a drink in my hand and just lounging without a care in the
- 2:33world. So right now we live in a place where it's 80 degrees. It was kind of chilly this week though.
- 2:40But the summer just doesn't even vibe. Yeah. I don't know. Like the key trope vibe. That's why in between
- 2:46every alcohol like adult beverage you have water. Exactly. But by then like by the like whenever you're
- 2:54almost done like it's evaporated already. That's why I just got to like 9 AM. Yeah. I'm not a
- 3:00morning person. So I'm like I'm a spring Tanner for a reason. Like I go tanning right now because
- 3:06if I don't like being hot and I live in the wrong place. You don't like being hot but you're doing
- 3:11such a good shot. She gave me the sexy. Yep. I mean pop culture wise. You know I don't have any
- 3:21shows coming up in the next couple months. I can drag in. What do you mean? No, I'm at like
- 3:26concert. It's like shows. Yes. The drag has the dragon's coming in. They release the house black
- 3:32trailer in the house green trailer. That's the only right answer. Yeah. And then Wolverine versus
- 3:39Deadpool comes out in July, which I'm very excited. I tell her what that's a dazzler. I'm gonna I am
- 3:47okay with Taylor Swift as the dazzler because the dazzler is a singer. She's a performer. Yeah.
- 3:53Pop star. Exactly. But also they announced the Wolverine Deadpool like, like, love is wrong. But yeah.
- 4:02I'm gonna make a bit influencer with friendship bracelets though. Yeah. Which is very very
- 4:08tailored coded. If you know anything. So I'm like is that's cute. And then they all went to the
- 4:14the chiefs game together. I mean, Blake Lively who is Ryan Reynolds aka Deadpool's wife.
- 4:22It's best friends with Taylor. Yeah. So I could totally say that. I hope so. I hope so. But I'm excited
- 4:27for Deadpool and Wolverine because Wolverine and Deadpool. I honestly don't remember which one of
- 4:32them is first on the credit. And I'm sure that Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds would be fighting for
- 4:38whoever goes first. But it's gonna be Deadpool's introduction into the MCU. So finally we get to see
- 4:45Deadpool come over to the MCU and hopefully interact with some of our favorites eventually.
- 4:51X-Men's getting some love lately. I love X-Men dude. I love the X-Men. I have cosplayed as X-Men
- 4:58characters in the past. Magic. My girl. I don't know if they them slowly bringing mutants into the
- 5:05MCU. I'm so here for it was my first introduction to Anna Pacquim and I love her. Yeah. Right. She's
- 5:11wonderful. Yeah. Yeah. Besides being drunk and hot at a pool and just lounging and listening to
- 5:20the Calvin Harris. I'm gonna be watching some Marvel movies. Love that. What about you Nicole?
- 5:25What are you excited for? Are you going anywhere cool? I feel like I'm the same as you Olivia. I'm
- 5:30excited to travel. I'm gonna use my flight benefits as much as I can. Love that. I... It's a baby.
- 5:38I don't know when this is coming out so I might have already gone or I might be on it. I'm going
- 5:42on a cruise. I'm so excited for you. Love your bit on a cruise before. I haven't. Oh really? You're
- 5:48in a lot. Super excited. Super nervous. Are you good on both? Yeah. Okay. I mean I'm going on
- 5:54on our own planes and boats are two different things but I don't get motion sickness. Don't... It's
- 6:00going to be windy. Yeah. And don't do the jack and rose on the front of the ship as much as you
- 6:06want to. You will all off the die. I mean, get more motion sickness medicine. Yeah. Stock with the
- 6:13dry. I mean, yes. Stock with the dry. I mean, it's a 17 day cruise. 17 days. That's going to be cool.
- 6:19We're going so cool. Oh my gosh. We port out of Sydney, Australia. What? You have to fly to Australia.
- 6:27I have to fly to Australia. I'm going to Australia. That's so cool. That's a long flight. Yeah,
- 6:31it's like 15, 16 hours but that's okay. It'll be worth it. And then we go to New Zealand and then we
- 6:37go to the French Polynesian Islands. Oh my gosh. And then we end in Hawaii. Oh. Yeah. So that's amazing.
- 6:43Super. We're excited. If it's a good cruise, you have to send me the deets. I've been wanting to do
- 6:48it. It's good. Royal Caribbean. So I know it's a decent cruise line. Yeah. And then in the summer,
- 6:55I'm hoping that I'm going to the British Virgin Islands. Oh, look at you. Yes. That's amazing.
- 7:03That's a whole point to be on flight attendants. I'm hoping to go wherever I want. Yeah. Yes.
- 7:08I've just never said what airline I was for. We're just out of here. I mean, if you go on my
- 7:14Instagram, it's obviously all of our listeners are listening to you on our follow you on Instagram.
- 7:21But yes, so I'm excited to travel. I'm going never been international before. So that'll be my
- 7:27first time. I'll get my passport stamped. Oh, that's amazing. Wow. You're going to have so much fun.
- 7:32Would you ever do like an international flight attendant route?
- 7:36If my airline went international, I would love to, but I'm so new to the company that I would never
- 7:43hold that kind of trip. Interesting. But I would love to. Yeah. I love my international flight. I've
- 7:49flown international. I mean, just a couple times like Japan. But we flew. What was it? Singapore?
- 7:56Yeah, Singapore Air. And that was the most comfortable flight I've ever been on in my life.
- 8:01They bring you like hot towels with full meals like Japanese meals. It was exquisite. Like
- 8:09blankies and TVs in front of us. Yeah. I haven't even bought my ticket for Sydney. We're just
- 8:14non-reving, which is basically show up to the airport and hope that there's a seat for you.
- 8:18Yeah. So we're just not because we don't want to pay for it. Are you going to like hang out in Sydney
- 8:23for a little while before you get on the boat? That's a great question. I don't know what time we land.
- 8:27We'll have. So I'm flying from Phoenix to LAX. We'll have about 12 hours in LAX before we have to
- 8:33board our flight for Sydney. By the time we land in Sydney, I'm not sure how much time we'll have in Sydney.
- 8:38But another cool fun fact is I'm going to pass the international date line. Which I'm super excited
- 8:44about. I think that's going to be super cool. I'm going to live one day twice. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah.
- 8:49Well, y'all just let us know how it all goes. I'm excited for you. I won't have Wi-Fi though.
- 8:55So I'm going to be disconnected from the world for 17 days, which I'm actually really excited about.
- 8:59That's amazing. I was on my cruise. I was 16 with my rich aunt, no gold shadow.
- 9:06I had this boyfriend. And we were on the end of the world. Oh my god. He thought he was going to
- 9:16like it was this one. He made the scrapbook. And so I went on this cruise and I was only gone for like a
- 9:22week. And you would have thought that I just had to do the scrapbook. Have I talked about this
- 9:28scrapbook on this block? This episode is just going to be us shooting the shit. I'm okay with it.
- 9:35Okay. I forget the rest of it. I'm going to do it. No, this is the funniest story. This is one of the
- 9:41promise ring candidates. Right? Yes. This is one of the promise ring. So this is my like, I was 16. I
- 9:49went on this cruise. You're on a nightclub. You're on a cruise. And there's like a teenage nightclub
- 9:54for everyone who's under 18 and can't drink. So you were in the teenage nightclub. And this is like
- 9:59from the time when I was like from the window. I can imagine just parting it up in there.
- 10:05We were just free. Oh my god. And I had a boyfriend back at home, but I didn't have any Wi-Fi,
- 10:11which is what reminded me of this. So I couldn't text him or call him or anything. And it was amazing.
- 10:16Okay. No, that's not the part of the story we wanted. I'm in this nightclub and I'm having a great
- 10:20time and the whole time. I'm like, dang, this, this rock. Because I look at these cute boys.
- 10:25I get home. And I hang out with my boyfriend. And he goes, I made she something while you were gone.
- 10:34And it's this binder. Oh geez. And it says on the front, well, you were gone. And I go for it.
- 10:40And it's seven days, right? You were gone seven days seven days. Oh my goodness.
- 10:46In the front page of the first page, it's like, you missed a lot while you were gone, Shana. I need to
- 10:51fill you in on some of the things. And the first one goes, we graduated from high school. Congratulations.
- 10:56And he had a fake high school diploma for me and a fake one for him. And then the next page,
- 11:00I turn and he goes, by the way, we got married. And it has a fake wedding certificate.
- 11:06Geez. He had a picture of a writing group and edited our faces on them. Oh my god.
- 11:13I turn and he goes, and we had a baby. Oh my god.
- 11:19That's like, every word. What was the baby's name? I don't even remember something stupid
- 11:25and from the Bible. I'm sure I don't know. Baby Paul. Oh my god.
- 11:33And the last page she turns and he goes, do not ever leave me again. I cannot be without you.
- 11:41You cannot leave me for this long ever again. I love you so much. You can't do this to me ever again.
- 11:47And as I'm going through these pages, I was like, how long were you together at this point?
- 11:52It's like a year, maybe 11 months. No, the funnier.
- 11:57I'm going through it. I'm just thinking, I'm good. I'm thinking all those boys. I freaked out.
- 12:04No, the funny thing is, I don't like a couple.
- 12:09I'm telling you this story. I'm telling you this story.
- 12:12And they were really good friends. Stephanie is sitting there and Stephanie is like, yeah.
- 12:18He told me he was going to make this. She was at home.
- 12:20Well, they were both on vacation and she goes, yeah, he said he was going to make it for her.
- 12:25And I told him we should do it. Somebody's like, I encourage him the whole time because I wanted to,
- 12:30because you guys were shitty together. That's so fun. I just wanted to see how unhinged she is.
- 12:36She's just back in like, you know what I mean? That's me and the more certificate.
- 12:39Luckily, I'm going on this cruise with my boyfriend. So I will not be coming home to a scrapbook.
- 12:46Oh my god. If he becomes unhinged, she never makes you a scrapbook.
- 12:50I will be with, I've never been with him for this song. So he's going to be a test.
- 12:53Oh, traveling, traveling with someone makes you know the most about that.
- 12:57I totally agree. We just went on a little road trip. So that was pretty nice.
- 13:00That was good. Yeah. Yeah. When you, especially when you're like international with somebody,
- 13:04it's like, it's with his family. So him and I, I'm really, we're not really close.
- 13:08We've only been dating for six months. But I love his mom. So that'll be good.
- 13:12For now, we'll just gang up on him if we have to. And his Nana as they should.
- 13:15Oh, Nana. Nana on the cruise. Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:19In Australia, down under down under. What was your on the bar?
- 13:23The bar. The bar. Vade down under. How does your Australian accent also sound trans like to.
- 13:29Cause everything sounds like this.
- 13:31Trimp on the bar. Yeah.
- 13:32I like all of us. God, please subscribe.
- 13:38I also dated a guy who is from Australia. And he would say,
- 13:42aluminum instead of aluminum aluminum foil. And it was adorable. I only dated him and slept
- 13:49with him for his accent. I would totally do that. I'd be like, yeah, say something.
- 13:53Yeah. Australian accent. He's like, cool.
- 13:55A bad cool. A bad you stupid. You stupid American bitch.
- 14:01Yes, I love you. He called me as little American son devil.
- 14:07God. All the bad. I need a million foot. I think this is the longest you've actually held one accent.
- 14:13And thank you. All of our friends should be on the bobby. Your accent reminds me of
- 14:17the one. Brush your own commercial for this.
- 14:21The album. Yes. The backstake. Get your blooming onion.
- 14:25Yeah. That's not a subtle. I don't know if that one sounded very ass-loom.
- 14:30That sounded like Scottish. That's not a word.
- 14:37And you're easily I'm so sorry.
- 14:41Yeah. There's God and Australian readings are going to go through the room.
- 14:45She does it for you. Let us know.
- 14:49No, I'll start to Scotland or Australia.
- 14:53I think we're doing amazing.
- 14:56Let's actually talk about pop culture for like a minute.
- 15:00Real quick. Real quick.
- 15:03Real quick.
- 15:04All right.
- 15:05Not that we've talked about absolutely nothing to do with pop culture.
- 15:11I guess we could have brought in Gordon Ramsay with the Australian accent.
- 15:14All right. He's British.
- 15:15He's British.
- 15:17British.
- 15:17We can talk about Chris Hemsworth.
- 15:21Yes.
- 15:21Yeah.
- 15:22We're Nicole Kidman.
- 15:23What do I feel? It's good to place like this in the call.
- 15:26Anyway, she had an accent.
- 15:28All right. We're just going to roll with it.
- 15:30Love it.
- 15:31I don't know my accent.
- 15:33We're just rolling to let's go.
- 15:36Let's go.
- 15:36Anyway, I really don't know how to transition.
- 15:39I would just say it.
- 15:41That's all right. We're just going to talk.
- 15:43We're going to talk about what we're going to talk about this week,
- 15:45which is movie sets.
- 15:47Yes. And if you could be, I'm just going to go right into the next.
- 15:51Let's get it done in over with.
- 15:52If you could be on any movie set of any movie that ever, ever came out,
- 16:03what movie set would you choose and why?
- 16:04Okay. I'm going to go first.
- 16:06We pull up my history.
- 16:09So I've been telling my husband this for years that the most iconic,
- 16:14okay, let me back up a little bit.
- 16:16I love a good golf nightclub, right?
- 16:19We went to the golf nightclub and tapped us together for my birthday.
- 16:22Really?
- 16:22Any?
- 16:23Oh, shout out, Alicia.
- 16:24Anytime I can be in plethora and just in there's,
- 16:27but not like, like night, I don't know.
- 16:31Golf clubs are so different than like a Scottsdale club.
- 16:34Like everyone's kind of dancing to themselves and there's like,
- 16:38it's a lot of hands.
- 16:39There's a lot of hands and like, and there's not any man,
- 16:43like in the teenage nightclub trying to grind on you with his pelvis.
- 16:46There's just, you danced to yourself. There's golf music playing.
- 16:49The best golf nightclub scene in my opinion is from Blade.
- 16:55So Blade is a movie from 1998, which coming back to Marvel,
- 17:00is based on a Marvel comic book.
- 17:02Blade is half human, half vampire.
- 17:06He's a vampire hunter.
- 17:08Wesley Snifes starred in the Blade movie series and they're actually going to be
- 17:13remaking Blade in the MCU in the next few years, supposedly.
- 17:16But the original Blade movie opens with a blood rave.
- 17:20So it's all of these people in a techno nightclub
- 17:25and they are dancing to pump panels, techno remax,
- 17:30Ray Maxx, and that Ray Maxx of Confusion by New Order.
- 17:36So all these people are dancing.
- 17:39We're not sure if they're humans, they're vampires,
- 17:41whatever is going on. It's just, it's people just dancing.
- 17:44And it's in a meatpacking warehouse behind the scenes.
- 17:48So golf.
- 17:49It's so golf.
- 17:50It's so golf.
- 17:51So golf.
- 17:52And so that's where they filmed this scene.
- 17:54And then eventually blood starts squirting out from like the water,
- 17:59what we call a sprinkler system.
- 18:02And it turns into a blood rave or a blood bath, I suppose.
- 18:07And so everyone's just being covered in sticky red blood and still dancing their hearts out.
- 18:13And it's so sexy.
- 18:14And then come to find out people in the crowd are vampires.
- 18:19And there's also some humans that are in there.
- 18:20And they're screaming for the lives and the vampires,
- 18:23things are coming out and they're starting to beat.
- 18:25And it's just magic.
- 18:28And the first time I watched that with my husband, I was like,
- 18:31I want to be there.
- 18:33I want to jump into this movie.
- 18:35I want to be there.
- 18:36I don't care if I'm not a vampire.
- 18:38Let them sigh or maybe I want to be at a techno goth blood rave in the 90s.
- 18:43Yeah.
- 18:43That's amazing.
- 18:44Would you be, I guess there's a bunch of different vampire universes.
- 18:48Like if you could be a vampire in any of the universes,
- 18:52which vampire would it be?
- 18:53Twilight.
- 18:54Twilight.
- 18:55You do?
- 18:56Twilight.
- 18:57Okay.
- 18:57Okay.
- 18:57I'd be true blood.
- 18:59First of all, 500%.
- 19:00I don't.
- 19:02I hate Twilight.
- 19:04We've all those.
- 19:05Discuss this.
- 19:06I don't care.
- 19:07It's wonderful.
- 19:08It's terrible.
- 19:09Yeah.
- 19:09Because they get to be glittery.
- 19:11So you want to be a little sparkle fairy.
- 19:14I want to be a little sparkle, but I still want to drink blood.
- 19:17Vampires and Twilight are actually fair.
- 19:19Oh, that's right.
- 19:21I never finished.
- 19:22No, in Twilight.
- 19:24Or I'm sorry.
- 19:25I never finished triple.
- 19:26Oh, well, are they fairy?
- 19:28No.
- 19:28I thought they were fairies.
- 19:29Oh, no, the world is fair.
- 19:31In Twilight, Edward and Bella are really fairies.
- 19:34What?
- 19:35Yeah.
- 19:35I thought they were fairies and true blood.
- 19:37No, what's a fair?
- 19:37There are fairies and true blood.
- 19:39No, the vampires are.
- 19:41Yes.
- 19:41Wait.
- 19:41Oh, no.
- 19:42What was the fair?
- 19:43No, you never knew that.
- 19:44Stephanie Meyer talks about that.
- 19:45They're actually fairies.
- 19:46I did not know that.
- 19:47Yeah.
- 19:48Very interesting.
- 19:48It all comes back to the thing.
- 19:49Squirrel.
- 19:50Squirrel.
- 19:50No, I wouldn't.
- 19:51I want to be able to go out in the sunshine
- 19:53because my serotonin's live in the sunshine.
- 19:55Okay.
- 19:55As we discuss, I want to be drunk by a pool.
- 19:58Yeah, you can't do that.
- 19:59If I'm in the Twilight Universe,
- 20:00I can be drunk by a pool.
- 20:02A little disco ball.
- 20:03I'll be your little disco ball.
- 20:04Thank you.
- 20:04I love that.
- 20:05We would all love that.
- 20:06We would all hang out with me even more than we do now.
- 20:08Shine bright.
- 20:08Like a diamond.
- 20:09Shine bright.
- 20:10Like a dye.
- 20:10Shine bright.
- 20:11Like a diamond.
- 20:12Don't do it.
- 20:13So.
- 20:15All right.
- 20:16When they were making this movie,
- 20:19the blood was a mixture of corn syrup and like red food dye.
- 20:26Can you imagine getting that in your eye?
- 20:28Apparently it was not pleasant for the extras
- 20:31as much as I'm like, I want to be on this movie set.
- 20:33It's a they had to be covered in this sticky fake blood for hours.
- 20:38It's just quagulating.
- 20:40I don't want quagulating.
- 20:42Quagulating.
- 20:43We were saying it was.
- 20:45The production designer said that we search for a location forever.
- 20:51We found ended up finding a rundown meat packing factory
- 20:55where they come in and slaughter animals literally.
- 20:58There was a lot of white tile and we aged
- 21:00a little bit gave it some cool lighting.
- 21:02Then we rigged the entire set like you would a modern day sprinkler system.
- 21:06So I don't care.
- 21:09Cover me in blood for hours.
- 21:10I'll do it.
- 21:11I want to go to the blade and nightclub scene.
- 21:13What about you Nicole?
- 21:20What movie set would you choose to visit?
- 21:22For me, this was hard because I was thinking more so of
- 21:26location-wise, the destination.
- 21:29The one I came in conclusion to was the movie blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
- 21:35If you've seen it, it was set in Georgia.
- 21:39I believe was the location in the US, but they actually did go ahead and travel to South Africa.
- 21:45They stayed at a resort at South Africa's lost city,
- 21:50Resort Sun City, and the destination location was absolutely gorgeous.
- 21:57That's like their one-year bucket list spots.
- 22:00Yes, I would love to go to South Africa.
- 22:02I think it would be incredible to see the culture,
- 22:05the animals that live there and just to learn about,
- 22:08again, their culture, just the food and the ocean.
- 22:12Just the resort that they were at too, I think would be incredible.
- 22:17It's a luxury, obviously.
- 22:19And they got to actually go to this luxury resort and film this.
- 22:21And Mule Spina is right.
- 22:23And Mule being an air-drew Barrymore.
- 22:25So, what Mordea Union?
- 22:27I know Adam Sandler is there too, but I love both of them.
- 22:31Bella Thorne's on the set too.
- 22:33Oh, she's a chaotic mess and I love her.
- 22:37It was before her chaotic days.
- 22:40I want to say she was either.
- 22:42She had to be a teenager.
- 22:43It was 2014.
- 22:45So, she's such a hot redhead.
- 22:49If I could go attractive to that resort and not have any teenagers though.
- 22:53Oh, I love, oh my god, Joel McHale.
- 22:56Shack, I think was there.
- 22:57I'll take Bella, you can have Joel McHale.
- 22:59I'm sorry.
- 22:59Joel McHale do awful things to me.
- 23:01Is that a pretty good cast?
- 23:04So, I would love it.
- 23:05They go to hooters sometimes.
- 23:07I'm like, I could eat some wings.
- 23:08Oh, she's got pickles on the beach.
- 23:10Yeah, I'm so proud of her.
- 23:12So proud.
- 23:13We can make gluten-free fry pickles that we can.
- 23:15Let's try to do it.
- 23:15I know how to.
- 23:16It says, it's for time.
- 23:17Yeah.
- 23:18I'm trying to make French again.
- 23:19Mm.
- 23:20Yeah.
- 23:21We're so hungry.
- 23:22Why are we so hungry this episode?
- 23:24But it says, a trip to South Africa's lost city presents visitors
- 23:27with an incredible array of attractions such as golf courses,
- 23:30crocodile pools, water parks, and magnificent gardens,
- 23:34all of which can be explored within the complex resort grounds.
- 23:37Crocodile pools?
- 23:38Yeah, I'm out.
- 23:38Influently.
- 23:40High-ecky.
- 23:40Fishing.
- 23:42You could do a romantic picnic and get away.
- 23:46And they even did this thing where they, I forget what it, they sky,
- 23:52I can't think of that.
- 23:53Skydive.
- 23:54That's kind of dive.
- 23:55They were up.
- 23:55A bunch of you.
- 23:56They were up in the air on like a kite.
- 23:58Not on a kite, but a pair of gov.
- 24:00Yeah, thank you.
- 24:01Oh, oh, I know this one.
- 24:04They did a safari.
- 24:05So they just did so many cool things that I would love,
- 24:08love, love to do in South Africa.
- 24:10Spoiler alert, do they end up together in the end of this movie?
- 24:12They do.
- 24:13Obviously.
- 24:13Yeah.
- 24:14But this does have a really, really good cast too that I would love
- 24:17taking out one thing to get to know.
- 24:18I'm trying to figure out.
- 24:21Jill McCale, I said Shaq, but it's not Shaq.
- 24:23Oh my gosh.
- 24:24It's the one guy who could like do his pecs.
- 24:27Oh, Terry Cruz.
- 24:28Oh, I would also let Terry Cruz do terrible things to me.
- 24:31Yes.
- 24:32Terry Cruz, we have Kevin Neilson.
- 24:36He's funny.
- 24:39He's Adam Sandler go to.
- 24:40Adam Sandler's wife, I mean, I would love to talk to her.
- 24:43I think she'd be cool.
- 24:44I mean, he's she's in every movie.
- 24:47So she always makes a little appearance somewhere.
- 24:51Okay, me.
- 24:51Oh, Shaq is in this actually.
- 24:53I'm talking about where he's at.
- 24:54That is.
- 24:55Oh, he's because Adam Sandler is a
- 24:59exporting goods employee.
- 25:01So Shaq is a exporting goods employee as well.
- 25:04So that's where he comes in.
- 25:05I was in Milwaukee once and it was like the final four
- 25:10and it was in Milwaukee and Shaq was staying at the hotel we were at.
- 25:13Did you see Shaq?
- 25:14I saw him and I went a little shake.
- 25:16A little tingle.
- 25:17That's so funny.
- 25:18Did you see you do that?
- 25:20Did he acknowledge you?
- 25:22Yeah, because we were walking past each other on it.
- 25:24No, I'm not funny.
- 25:25That's funny.
- 25:26But like, I don't want to be like,
- 25:27can I, I don't like to stop to celebrity to be like,
- 25:30can I take a picture with you like?
- 25:31Yeah, you just want me to stop.
- 25:32You just want me to stop me and ask me for my autograph.
- 25:34I'm like, I'm just trying to enjoy my dream.
- 25:37I'm just like you.
- 25:38I'm just going.
- 25:40I like when I saw Billy Porter when I was in Miami.
- 25:43Like I didn't want to bug him.
- 25:44Like he's like on a one-on-one day.
- 25:46So I just like sent him a drink and was like, I love you.
- 25:49And like, I was just like just send him this drink and then he came over
- 25:52and like came and talked to him after that.
- 25:54That's my move.
- 25:56It was a new celebrity.
- 25:57A send him a drink.
- 25:58A send him a drink.
- 25:59It was from Queer Eye.
- 26:00Yeah, but we were shopping.
- 26:02Yeah.
- 26:03Our auntie.
- 26:04Auntie, we just awkwardly were like,
- 26:06auntie, auntie, auntie.
- 26:07That's so cool.
- 26:08But that's my move and it's a good one because I will drink.
- 26:11Buy them a drink, send it to them, like expect nothing.
- 26:14And a lot of the time they'll come over to you because the waiter will
- 26:16be like, this person bought you a drink.
- 26:17Oh, pop culture tips from Olivia.
- 26:21They don't need a free drink.
- 26:22They don't need them to come over to me and not think that I'm weirdo.
- 26:27I'll send them a Bud Light or something real cheap.
- 26:29I didn't order this Bud Light.
- 26:31Well, Mr. Shack, that was from the woman from across the bar.
- 26:34We'll check.
- 26:35That was from Sean.
- 26:35I don't drink this cheap ass beer.
- 26:37I love it.
- 26:40No, that sounds amazing.
- 26:41Yeah.
- 26:42I like the way you went with this.
- 26:43Like what set would I just want a vacation on?
- 26:45Exactly.
- 26:46I like it.
- 26:47I like your resort too.
- 26:48That would be super cool to be out.
- 26:50We can go from the blood rave and then we'll wash off.
- 26:54And the pool.
- 26:55And we'll wash off and the pool.
- 26:56I think you're gonna suffere them in the blood rave.
- 26:58Yeah, maybe we'll go to the night at the blood rave.
- 27:01You're at the animals.
- 27:02You know, with all that blood on you.
- 27:04That's true.
- 27:04We'll start the day at the resort.
- 27:07Go to the club at night.
- 27:08Go to the club at night.
- 27:09Yeah.
- 27:09There we go.
- 27:10Love it.
- 27:11Okay.
- 27:11Well, then we can go to the afters for mine.
- 27:14Oh God.
- 27:14What's yours?
- 27:15So mine is going to be eyes wide shut.
- 27:19It is Stanley Kubrick's final film.
- 27:22Not as sorry.
- 27:25Sorry.
- 27:26Sorry, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise.
- 27:28Were they married when they made this film?
- 27:30They did make this film.
- 27:31So if you are not familiar, I will say, you know,
- 27:35you went on has taken their little grummy paws
- 27:38and put their two cents on all of the.
- 27:41So we do have to say not a Cuban honor.
- 27:43I'm not any of that.
- 27:45The exact opposite.
- 27:47But so the reason that I pick eyes wide shut is two things.
- 27:52So it is Stanley Kubrick's final film.
- 27:55Four days after screening eyes wide shut,
- 27:58he mysteriously died.
- 28:00He was pretty healthy.
- 28:01He died of a random heart attack in his sleep interest.
- 28:05He was 70 years old.
- 28:06So like, could that happen?
- 28:07Yeah, absolutely.
- 28:09And so if you've ever seen eyes wide shut,
- 28:11it is kind of this this weird movie where it seems like Stanley Kubrick
- 28:16was pulling in a lot of like illuminati references
- 28:20and themes into it.
- 28:22They're just like these weird like,
- 28:24there's this weird orgy in the movie with like a sex cold.
- 28:27Is that why you want to be in this film?
- 28:29No, but he died.
- 28:31They say now that the movie was like 95% done.
- 28:34Like there was just some editing and post.
- 28:36There's a lot of back and forth on if Stanley Kubrick
- 28:40was willing to release the version that we got.
- 28:44And so they cut 40 minutes of film from Stanley Kubrick's
- 28:49version that he showed after he died.
- 28:52After he died, 40 minutes of the movie are gone.
- 28:55And so people like that's why people latched onto it.
- 28:58And they say like, okay, that 40 minutes of missing footage,
- 29:01they killed Kubrick and they ended up wanting like hiding a lot of
- 29:06like the rituals and the illuminati stuff and all that.
- 29:08And I think, you know, like to just be there and see it.
- 29:13But then also know like what he was trying to say.
- 29:15It's very, very film bro debated.
- 29:18What is the point of eyes wide shut?
- 29:21I'm gonna be honest, I've never seen it.
- 29:23It's it's on my like it's worth watching once,
- 29:26but it is really weird.
- 29:27But in conjunction with this,
- 29:29so it was two years before Nicole and Tom Cruise got a divorce.
- 29:35And so it is heavily rumored at this time that whenever they want to go film,
- 29:40eyes wide shut, Tom Cruise was thinking about leaving Scientology.
- 29:44And what?
- 29:46Yes. And so Nicole was trying to get him to leave.
- 29:49And Scientology actually really thought that he was going to leave Scientology
- 29:54at this time when they go and film this.
- 29:55And so they started bugging Nicole's cell phone calls, all of her phone calls.
- 30:00They started sending in like ways to try to break them up.
- 30:03They talk about it a lot in the going clear documentary.
- 30:06Mike Rinder is actually giving testimony like my job was to break up Tom and Nicole.
- 30:12They were very afraid of them.
- 30:13Gosh, they're coming together.
- 30:14Like the church of Scientology had or still has their claws in Tom Cruise.
- 30:19Oh, it's crazy.
- 30:20I mean, he's well, and Nicole show him that.
- 30:22And Nicole and Katie Holmes.
- 30:23So it can stay home for sure.
- 30:25And they started to kind of after like while this movie, he was pulling away.
- 30:29And so they were tightening the reins and starting to try to like break them up in this process.
- 30:35Yeah.
- 30:35And so I think it's just such an interesting moment in time to look back on like what would
- 30:41have changed if Tom Cruise actually left Scientology.
- 30:45I wonder if it would have like less of an imp cultural impact than it does right now.
- 30:50Absolutely.
- 30:50And if there'd be less celebrities who are inclined to join it.
- 30:54Absolutely.
- 30:54Right.
- 30:54I think 100% Tom Cruise people
- 30:58like knew about Scientology from Tom Cruise.
- 31:01But they didn't he didn't have as jumping on the couch moment yet.
- 31:03So no, everyone was like, Oh, just think Tom Cruise does.
- 31:06Yeah.
- 31:07Whatever.
- 31:07And so I think it's really interesting to like know that
- 31:11as soon as they came back from the set, like he was free for the last time or kind of escaping
- 31:17the clutches of Scientology.
- 31:19And it was their relationship together.
- 31:22And she was pretty young when they got married.
- 31:24But I do think it's an interesting kind of like what
- 31:28was happening behind the scenes.
- 31:29And fascinating.
- 31:31They're just yeah, what's Kubrick's vision here?
- 31:34His final habit.
- 31:35What is the greatest filmmakers of all time being with him just a couple days before his passing
- 31:40or like recently, you know, leading up to his passing.
- 31:43Yeah.
- 31:44And there's a lot of conspiracy theories about Kubrick's death in general, what the movie was trying
- 31:50to say.
- 31:51And you know, one of the things that is pretty interesting about it is a lot of people
- 31:56do not talk about like the set and what they knew.
- 32:00And Kubrick was a pretty interesting person in how he made movies.
- 32:05Like it said that until it went to theaters, like he could be editing the movie up until days before
- 32:10it was really stupid.
- 32:11I'm sure that was as stressful for like the production crew.
- 32:14He, I mean, if you've ever heard about like the shining and what he did, like that was such a
- 32:20trauma. I almost talked about the shining just to see like also another really good Kubrick film.
- 32:27Just be on the set for just how traumatizing it was to the cat for Shelley Duval.
- 32:29Oh my god.
- 32:30I know that and see that and so probably abuse if he was.
- 32:33Yes.
- 32:34Yeah.
- 32:34And so a lot of his movies have been the through line of like what is human nature and
- 32:40eyes wide shut is like how does sex and power drive human nature.
- 32:45And he didn't really talk about the meaning of the movie because he died before it even came out.
- 32:50And so he couldn't really like he did with old metal jacket like he couldn't explain what the movie
- 32:56was meant to say or do anything.
- 32:58It was kind of up to the public watching it to kind of dissect it.
- 33:02And then he died like immediately after and it was a film about rich wealthy elite people
- 33:08in like a cult to control people and all this stuff.
- 33:13So I think that would just be such an interesting movie to watch be made to know what Nicole and
- 33:20Tom are going through.
- 33:21I would just like to watch a lot of action the whole time.
- 33:23Yeah.
- 33:24Just how are they feeling about each other in this point in time.
- 33:27It is really really crazy and you can kind of like see of course they're both amazing actors
- 33:34in their own right but you can see tension and they play a married couple in it.
- 33:38And you know they've been married for a while they're about to get a divorce
- 33:42and in two years.
- 33:44So you start to see this like tension and this true line and all of the stuff.
- 33:48I love that picture of Nicole Kidman leaving the court house after her divorce.
- 33:52It's amazing.
- 33:53It's just bumping her hands on the air.
- 33:55Yeah and so I think that that one's mine.
- 33:57I did have a close runner up of the poltergeist.
- 34:01Mine was Wizard of Oz.
- 34:03Okay that's a great one.
- 34:04It's like just all of the weird behind the scenes ship that went down and yeah.
- 34:08Poltergeist I wouldn't want to be anywhere near because so many people died and like.
- 34:13Yeah a lot of people died like really shortly after the movie.
- 34:19Was being made the little girl died.
- 34:21Yeah.
- 34:21The third movie which was was pretty sad.
- 34:24Another one which I thought was really really interesting was the Blair Witch project.
- 34:29Yeah dude.
- 34:29Because there's no lines of script.
- 34:31It's all adlit and a lot of the stuff where they're like freaking out.
- 34:35They were actually coming in and like fake torturing them.
- 34:38Like they didn't the actors didn't know those people were going to be there
- 34:41and they were setting up all these creepy things in the woods.
- 34:44So a lot of those scenes you see are.
- 34:46They're like legitimately startled.
- 34:47Yeah and when the one kid like throws the map into the water the other two didn't know
- 34:52that was happening and they were actually using it to like move around the area where they were filming.
- 34:57And so there's a lot of those reactions to this video.
- 35:00I guess I'd be cool if I was like a fly in the wall.
- 35:02I don't want to be on the set.
- 35:03I don't want to be cursed or die.
- 35:05Yeah.
- 35:05But I'll be just like hanging out and be like what you guys doing.
- 35:09Yeah.
- 35:09What you guys do.
- 35:10Yeah absolutely.
- 35:11And so I'll stay.
- 35:13I love having an honor but different we all went with this.
- 35:16Yeah really.
- 35:17I want to be in a golf club.
- 35:19I'm like I want to know the secrets to the aluminum and audio.
- 35:22Okay so what I think we do then is we start the day at the resort.
- 35:27And then we go to the Goth nightclub.
- 35:30In the next day we wake up we have a hearty breakfast.
- 35:32No it's the afters.
- 35:33We go to the sex orgy cold sacrifice.
- 35:35Oh shit no you're right.
- 35:37Yeah it's the second party.
- 35:38Okay we'll go to the Goth club then from like 10.
- 35:42We'll go from like 9 to 2.
- 35:4410 to 2.
- 35:45Yeah 10 to 2.
- 35:46And then we'll go to yours like yeah middle.
- 35:48Yeah we'll sacrifice a woman.
- 35:49It'll be great.
- 35:50Yeah.
- 35:51Yeah.
- 35:51Just like you break up on it.
- 35:53Just like say like you break up.
- 35:55This is good.
- 35:57This is good.
- 35:58My runner up would have been Wizard of Oz.
- 36:01Because I just want to know what happened to Judy Garland.
- 36:02Yeah.
- 36:03Wizard of Oz is like a lot of shit.
- 36:05We were given her.
- 36:06We can go way into that on that movie set.
- 36:08But yeah they were given her uppers and downers.
- 36:11And it was going to.
- 36:12And I want to know about that dead person hanging in the background of that one.
- 36:16I remember hearing that.
- 36:17Wait what?
- 36:18So oh yeah you tell it.
- 36:19In this one scene they're walking down the yellow brick road and you could see a person
- 36:25hanging in a tree and supposedly it is a real dead body hanging in the tree.
- 36:29Yeah I'm not sure if that like that's what I'm saying.
- 36:31I don't know if it's a real dead body but apparently it is.
- 36:34They use real skeletons.
- 36:35Yeah.
- 36:36Yeah.
- 36:36Or where she's like swimming around with the actual human remains.
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:40That actually means that it might be true.
- 36:43Yeah.
- 36:43But who knows?
- 36:44Yeah.
- 36:45If they did it in the freaking 1990s they definitely did it in the 1930s.
- 36:49Well they said that it was one of like the Oompa Loompa extras that like killed himself on set.
- 36:55Yeah.
- 36:55And that they didn't realize until like post production that he was hanging in the background.
- 37:00I'm like how don't you know on set that?
- 37:01Yeah.
- 37:02Someone.
- 37:02Yeah.
- 37:03That's what they've been there.
- 37:04If anybody has any actual insight into this and if this is just like an urban legend or not.
- 37:10But no.
- 37:10But yeah we'll pull up the picture in a second.
- 37:12Oh my god.
- 37:12We need to do an episode about just like urban legends.
- 37:15That would be interesting.
- 37:16Oh my god.
- 37:16Because there's so many like Disney urban legends too.
- 37:19Oh it does make conspiracies.
- 37:21I could go crazy.
- 37:23Do I love Disney conspiracies?
- 37:25Okay.
- 37:26Okay.
- 37:26Everybody, we have a workshop.
- 37:27No, if that's not that.
