- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's your host,
- 0:09Speaker 1: NASA cho Beatie. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: This yas getting ready to travel to the Music City,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Nashville take on the Tennessee Titans for a big matchup
- 0:19Speaker 1: here in week twelve. But I'd be remiss if we
- 0:21Speaker 1: didn't talk about what happened against the Rams. Unfortunately, me
- 0:23Speaker 1: and Bump were not able to join you on Monday,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but we're back, so we are gonna touch on the game, man, Bump.
- 0:28Speaker 1: That was tough.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it was tough.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Man.
- 0:30Speaker 2: You had a chance to win the game.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Even though all the drama, the interceptions and whatnot, you
- 0:34Speaker 4: still had a chance to win the game. But obviously
- 0:37Speaker 4: the Rams they beat us twenty one to nineteen sixty
- 0:40Speaker 4: one yard field goal to try to take this lead.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Just didn't have enough. But it's all good. They battle.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it's one of those games where it was
- 0:47Speaker 1: a premier matchup in the NFL. You didn't leave that
- 0:50Speaker 1: game going. Man, we just can't compete. That was a
- 0:53Speaker 1: measures in game. We fell short. I'll tell you what
- 0:56Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford probably had the worst game he's well, not probably,
- 0:59Speaker 1: he had the worst game he's this season and does
- 1:01Speaker 1: not play well against Seahawks. So big ups what they
- 1:03Speaker 1: were doing defensively, bump, but overall, big picture, what did
- 1:06Speaker 1: you learn from the Seahawks in the Rams game?
- 1:08Speaker 4: Learn that this defense is resilient and they are good
- 1:10Speaker 4: enough to help your quarterback out when he has the
- 1:13Speaker 4: worst day that he's had all year. Learned that Kobe
- 1:17Speaker 4: Bryant's dog getting downhill, we're going to talk about his
- 1:19Speaker 4: big play, And that this team is still together. I
- 1:22Speaker 4: think that was important for us to feel and to
- 1:23Speaker 4: hear that even though you felt like you should have
- 1:26Speaker 4: won this game or could have won this game, and
- 1:28Speaker 4: you did it in a way that's not typical for
- 1:30Speaker 4: this football team with all the turnovers. They do turn
- 1:31Speaker 4: the football over, but right not in bunches like this,
- 1:34Speaker 4: you still had a chance to win it.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So character I liked it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: No, it's a great segue because I learned that this
- 1:39Speaker 1: team is together, and go no further than one of
- 1:42Speaker 1: the defensive leaders on this team, Ernest Jones. This is
- 1:45Speaker 1: him talking about his quarterback postgame.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I mean, Sam's been baling right. If we want to
- 1:49Speaker 3: try to define Sam by this game, man, Sam's been
- 1:54Speaker 3: had us in every game. So for him to sit
- 1:56Speaker 3: there and say, oh, that's my fault, No, it's not
- 2:00Speaker 3: plays that defensively, we could have made plays. There were
- 2:02Speaker 3: opportunities where we could have got better stops. Yeah, I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 3: like it's football, man, he's our quarterback. We got his back,
- 2:10Speaker 3: and you got anything to say, quite frankly.
- 2:12Speaker 1: For you, well, I think it's pretty clear his no.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And what I love about it is you just have
- 2:18Speaker 1: your teammates back. Man. He didn't have a great game,
- 2:20Speaker 1: that's obvious. He has been at MVP level this year.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And what I love about it is he's a veteran
- 2:24Speaker 1: guy letting everybody know, setting the tone. This is what
- 2:27Speaker 1: we do here. And I think you know, if you
- 2:29Speaker 1: would have put Jay Reed, if you would have put Leo,
- 2:31Speaker 1: he put everyone else up with there, Jason, they would
- 2:33Speaker 1: have had a similar reaction. Maybe not two f bombs,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but hey, he got his point across. From what I
- 2:37Speaker 1: love too is a lot of the national networks we're
- 2:39Speaker 1: talking about Earnest Jones and not talking about the game
- 2:41Speaker 1: for a several points. So just tremendous leadership there. I
- 2:43Speaker 1: love what we're seeing from this team. They're close and
- 2:46Speaker 1: you can see it in the locker room. You can
- 2:48Speaker 1: see how they interact with each other. I love everybody
- 2:50Speaker 1: having each other's back. And the cool thing is, unlike
- 2:53Speaker 1: you know a couple of postgame comments that were coming
- 2:55Speaker 1: out of Tennessee after their last loss, this team is together,
- 2:58Speaker 1: putting up for one another. I love what we're seeing there.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But quickly, let's get over to the people who made plays. Playmakers.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Playmakers show him what time?
- 3:13Speaker 1: O wait, where do you start? Bump number eleven?
- 3:16Speaker 2: You gotta start with Jason once again.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Over one hundred yards nine receptions, one O five on
- 3:21Speaker 4: twelve targets, he became the first player in the Super
- 3:23Speaker 4: Bowl era with at least seventy five yards in each
- 3:26Speaker 4: of the first ten games of the season. He also
- 3:29Speaker 4: passed Steve Largin for the most one hundred yard receiving
- 3:31Speaker 4: games in a single season in franchise history with seven.
- 3:34Speaker 4: He now has eleven hundred and forty six of them
- 3:36Speaker 4: things on the season, which leads the league. And it
- 3:39Speaker 4: was it was like a it wasn't a quiet one
- 3:41Speaker 4: on five, but it wasn't allowed one on five.
- 3:43Speaker 2: It's just he's consistent.
- 3:45Speaker 4: He gets open, he catches the rock, hands whatever you need,
- 3:48Speaker 4: Jayson gets it done.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I mean it's it's consistency. Like you said, he's at
- 3:52Speaker 1: the point where one hundred and five yards can be quiet.
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's how good he has been this year. That one
- 3:57Speaker 1: arm play along the sideline, I see him do that
- 3:59Speaker 1: million times in practice. That is not something that randomly happened.
- 4:03Speaker 1: He practiced that kind of thing. He's that type of
- 4:05Speaker 1: playmaker level we're seeing from him. JSN Ben ken Walker,
- 4:08Speaker 1: this made me smile. To sixteen carries sixty seven yards,
- 4:11Speaker 1: one touchdown, should have had two average four point two
- 4:14Speaker 1: yards per carry. Also had about forty four yards receiving,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and Knain has shown Mike McDonald said it this week
- 4:19Speaker 1: he has earned more carries because what he's done on
- 4:22Speaker 1: the field. When he's out there, I think you give
- 4:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks best chance in the run game. We know
- 4:25Speaker 1: Zach Jarbny what he can do in a pass pro
- 4:27Speaker 1: and he's obviously a really good back as well. George
- 4:29Speaker 1: Lane has done some good things, but I love to
- 4:30Speaker 1: see ken Walker getting active, being in the game on
- 4:33Speaker 1: the goal line and being able to pay it off
- 4:34Speaker 1: of touchdown.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Start to get his groove. I'll see you K nine.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Also Aj Barner ten receptions for seventy yards, a career
- 4:40Speaker 4: high in reception, second most receiving yards in a game
- 4:43Speaker 4: in his career. Now, he's had multiple touchdown games, but
- 4:45Speaker 4: he's never had ten catches in that. Aj Barner slowly,
- 4:48Speaker 4: not even slowly, just steadily establishing himself as te number one.
- 4:53Speaker 4: He's sprinkling some a royo man. I like where this
- 4:56Speaker 4: tight end group is headed.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, No, AJ's a dog Barnyard. Keep it going, get
- 4:59Speaker 1: back on there. Then Kobe Bryant man five tackles, a
- 5:02Speaker 1: force fumble, four pass defended, one QB hit. I'll say
- 5:05Speaker 1: this about Kobe Bryant on that play, that forced fumble
- 5:07Speaker 1: he had, that's not a mistake. That's not an accident.
- 5:11Speaker 1: If you talk to any defender, you have to practice
- 5:13Speaker 1: this every single day. That's what you do. You don't
- 5:16Speaker 1: all of a sudden on game day try to do
- 5:17Speaker 1: the Peanant Tillman punch. You're not ripping the ball out,
- 5:20Speaker 1: You're not trying to do all those things. That is
- 5:21Speaker 1: something that is who you are. And Kobe Bryant to
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Ballhawk love to see it. He's been one of
- 5:25Speaker 1: the main stays of the secondary all season long.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Practice makes perfect. You do it in practice, it becomes
- 5:30Speaker 4: automatic in the game. And Ernest Jones a playmaker. Six tackles,
- 5:34Speaker 4: he led the squad, and he also had one of
- 5:36Speaker 4: the best postgame speeches that have ever gone down in
- 5:39Speaker 4: Seahawk history. Appreciate your leadership, Earnest, and appreciate your play.
- 5:43Speaker 4: He's a big dog.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And last thing we'll say about the Rams man is
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mentioned this Seahawks defense as a whole. Matthew Stafford
- 5:50Speaker 1: held New season on one hundred and thirty yards season
- 5:52Speaker 1: low fifty three percent completion percentage, held the Rams to
- 5:55Speaker 1: two and eleven on third downs, held the Rams of
- 5:57Speaker 1: two hundred and forty nine yards, and after giving up
- 5:59Speaker 1: too early touchdowns, the Seahawks forced a punt or turnover
- 6:02Speaker 1: on seven of the Rams' final eight ssessions, held the
- 6:04Speaker 1: Rams twenty one points. Really only accountable for ten. Anytime
- 6:08Speaker 1: you do that to Sean McVay Matthew Stafford in that offense,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you're doing something right. Cannot wait for the rematch. In
- 6:14Speaker 1: Week sixteen in Seattle on Thursday Night football we'll flip
- 6:17Speaker 1: it over to the current matchup Tennessee Titans. There obviously
- 6:20Speaker 1: was a big injury in the game. Gray's able went down.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Everyone in Seattle was concerned. I was very concerned watching
- 6:25Speaker 1: him not be able to put weight down. But coach
- 6:27Speaker 1: McDonald said, really fortunate Monday afternoon, we avoided serious injury.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Really positive. He's day to day. So he did not
- 6:34Speaker 1: practice on Wednesday, but we avoided serious injury, and it
- 6:37Speaker 1: seems like he will be ready to go at some
- 6:39Speaker 1: point this year. Christian Hayes did a good job stepping
- 6:41Speaker 1: up for him, so he might get the start on Sunday.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Now only did Haynes step in, He stepped in on
- 6:46Speaker 4: the one yard line. Any mistake back there would have
- 6:50Speaker 4: been game over. Yeah, it's safety and he did his thing,
- 6:52Speaker 4: so big Us Christian.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Names absolutely man John Christianames will be watching the injury
- 6:57Speaker 1: updates as we head into Sunday. But let's get into
- 6:59Speaker 1: those Titans. What's on tap? What's on tap? These Titans bump.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It's been a struggle. Yeah, one to nine, last place
- 7:11Speaker 1: in their division. Little Austines to the Broncos, Rams, Colts, Texans, Raiders, Patriots,
- 7:16Speaker 1: Colts Chargers. Texans their lone win bump against the Arizona
- 7:20Speaker 1: Cardinals and they were absolutely gift wrappeded given that game
- 7:24Speaker 1: by just unbelievable mistakes. That's when de Mercado dropped the
- 7:28Speaker 1: ball at the one yard line, That's when came Wordon
- 7:30Speaker 1: got picked off. But on the interception return they fumbled
- 7:33Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett's in the end zone. Anyway, it's been rough.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They fired their head coach, Brian Callahan after a one
- 7:37Speaker 1: if I start four to nineteen record offensive coordinator Mike
- 7:40Speaker 1: McCoy he takes over as the interim coach. It's been
- 7:43Speaker 1: a rough time bump. What'd you see for them against
- 7:44Speaker 1: the Titans? Against the Texans last week?
- 7:46Speaker 4: Oh Man, against the Texas it was rough man. The
- 7:48Speaker 4: Texas came out of this game without c J. Straut
- 7:51Speaker 4: for the second straight week and roll that nasty concussion
- 7:53Speaker 4: he had sliding down me. I don't know how I
- 7:55Speaker 4: feel about the slide and the hit. It's uh, it's
- 7:57Speaker 4: hard for a defender out there.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But dangerous sometimes though if you get slide then if
- 8:02Speaker 1: you would have been in a position to protect himself.
- 8:04Speaker 4: But anyway else, Yeah, it's to maybe they should start
- 8:06Speaker 4: having QBS just raised their hand and then we'll market
- 8:11Speaker 4: right there.
- 8:11Speaker 2: But Davis Mills got to start for the second week
- 8:14Speaker 2: in a row.
- 8:14Speaker 4: This game got off to a super slow start, Titans
- 8:17Speaker 4: leading three.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I woult halftime. We love those type of games.
- 8:19Speaker 4: The Titans out of the field goal in the first possession,
- 8:21Speaker 4: but the Texas aswers with their first touchdown of the game,
- 8:24Speaker 4: going seven plays seventy five yards in it with a
- 8:26Speaker 4: Nico Collins touchdown. Sounds like Nico was banged up a
- 8:29Speaker 4: he'll be back, but we don't care about as Texas
- 8:32Speaker 4: that made the score seven to six. The Texans would
- 8:35Speaker 4: add two field goals to make the score thirteen to
- 8:37Speaker 4: six early in the fourth quarter. Then after four straight punts,
- 8:41Speaker 4: Titans made the game interesting. Cam Ward let the Titans
- 8:44Speaker 4: on their best drive of the game, eleven plays ninety five.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Yards of the season.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Of the season, maybe said maybe for sure the season.
- 8:51Speaker 4: With a four yard touchdown a Van and Jefferson former
- 8:54Speaker 4: ram right that tied the game at thirteen with one
- 8:56Speaker 4: thirty five left in the football game.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and then typical Titans fashion. If you're a Titan fan,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I guess the only person I know is Mike LEFTKO.
- 9:04Speaker 1: If you're out there, if you're listening to this left
- 9:05Speaker 1: go yeah, they don't. They give up the game winning
- 9:10Speaker 1: field goal at the end of the game. They lose
- 9:12Speaker 1: that football game. Davis Mills not chi J Stroud, but
- 9:14Speaker 1: he put up tw hundred and seventy four yards passing
- 9:16Speaker 1: no touchdowns. Titans, man, they played nine rookies last week
- 9:20Speaker 1: and they started four of them.
- 9:21Speaker 2: That's wild.
- 9:22Speaker 1: That's all we kind of need to talk about there.
- 9:23Speaker 1: We're gonna get into some of their players because it
- 9:25Speaker 1: is a National Football League. I'm not gonna try to
- 9:26Speaker 1: distract Titans. They obviously have some good players over there,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but sure it's not looking good. As we jump in
- 9:30Speaker 1: his head to head bump. We can kind of fly
- 9:32Speaker 1: through it, especially the offensive numbers, because I'll uh the
- 9:35Speaker 1: Titans they are thirty second last total offense, last and
- 9:39Speaker 1: rush offense, last in points per game, thirtieth in pass offense.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Not very good. Seahawks they are six in total offense
- 9:45Speaker 1: three hundred and sixty yards a game, fourteenth on the run,
- 9:48Speaker 1: fourth in the past two hundred forty nine yards per game,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and then third in points per game at twenty nine
- 9:53Speaker 1: point four. Obviously handily big advantage for the Seattle Seahawks
- 9:57Speaker 1: is the Titans have just really struggled to score.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Defensive, Titans are twenty fourth overall, twenty six when it
- 10:02Speaker 4: comes to stop in the run, eighteenth against the past thirtieth,
- 10:05Speaker 4: and when it comes to points allowed per game twenty
- 10:07Speaker 4: seven point three. On the other side, you're Hawks ninth overall,
- 10:10Speaker 4: six against the run, fourteenth against the pass, and six
- 10:13Speaker 4: when it comes to giving the points nineteen point three
- 10:16Speaker 4: per game. It's big numbers to the right, Titans, little
- 10:20Speaker 4: numbers to the left.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Seahawks.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, obviously they are what you are, what
- 10:25Speaker 1: your record is. The one thing I will say about
- 10:27Speaker 1: them is they've managed to be in most games. As
- 10:30Speaker 1: bad as they've been on the in the stat line right,
- 10:32Speaker 1: they've competed in a lot of games. So it'll be
- 10:34Speaker 1: interesting to see that Seahawks and Titans do not play
- 10:37Speaker 1: very often. But let's know the history.
- 10:39Speaker 2: No, your history.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Seahawks lea the all time series eleven to eight, eleven
- 10:44Speaker 1: and seven in the regular season that includes the Houston
- 10:47Speaker 1: Oilers before they moved over. Since that team has been
- 10:49Speaker 1: in Tennessee, the Hawks leave the series is my first
- 10:52Speaker 1: throwback Jersey. Yeah, playing in the astrodom down in Houston. Okay, Yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 1: so last matchup between these twos and Christmas Eve, actually
- 11:01Speaker 1: twenty twenty three season, Seahawks go down there. Gino Smith
- 11:04Speaker 1: had a game winning drive to Kobe Parkinson. Obviously, both
- 11:07Speaker 1: of them are not here anymore. Seahawks win that ball game,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and it was a big game. They needed to win
- 11:11Speaker 1: it to keep their playoff hopes alive. Unfortunately, they came
- 11:14Speaker 1: home and had that Steelers game they don't even really
- 11:16Speaker 1: want to talk about, knocked them out of the playoffs there.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But uh, in the game, Bobby Wagner had a nice day,
- 11:21Speaker 1: eleven tackles, Tyler Lockett had a good game. That was
- 11:25Speaker 1: only two years ago. But you started saying all those names,
- 11:27Speaker 1: none of them are here anymore. So very very different
- 11:30Speaker 1: time in Seahawks history. Obviously, the Seahawks are off to
- 11:33Speaker 1: a great start this season. That brings us to what's
- 11:36Speaker 1: the word.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again?
- 11:44Speaker 1: What's the word? In the west On Hawk talk?
- 11:48Speaker 4: All right, Rams, you got it for now eight and
- 11:50Speaker 4: twoson on top of the division, Hawks behind them at
- 11:52Speaker 4: seven and three, you got Frisco seven and four in
- 11:55Speaker 4: Arizona at the bottom at three and seven after a
- 11:57Speaker 4: win over the Seahawks and Rounds moving to soul possession
- 12:00Speaker 4: of first place in the NFC West.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Hard saying that. But you know what, don't worry about it.
- 12:04Speaker 2: We got you.
- 12:05Speaker 4: The Seahawks will get their rematch against the Rams from
- 12:07Speaker 4: Thursday Night Football on December eighteenth. That game will likely
- 12:11Speaker 4: have huge playoff implications and will be key for the
- 12:14Speaker 4: Seahawks have any chance at winning the division. We're looking
- 12:18Speaker 4: towards the eighteenth, Well, we got to take care of
- 12:21Speaker 4: the Titans. But you know, just gotta layout, gott lay
- 12:24Speaker 4: out of the situation.
- 12:24Speaker 2: We can do that.
- 12:25Speaker 4: We can look forward and scenarios and all that stuff.
- 12:27Speaker 4: These guys stay locked in, no question about it.
- 12:28Speaker 1: The Seahawks got the Titans, they got the Vikings, they
- 12:31Speaker 1: have the Falcons, and they have who am I missing?
- 12:37Speaker 2: I don't know. I go anyway week out a time.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, anyway, I'm just projecting their schedule because
- 12:43Speaker 1: they can win each one of those games. Yeah, and
- 12:44Speaker 1: I feel very calming about that.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Someone asked me yesterday, sorry, colch Someone asked me yesterday,
- 12:48Speaker 4: where do you see a Seahawks loss, and I looked
- 12:50Speaker 4: at the schedule and I go, I could see them
- 12:52Speaker 4: winning all of these games.
- 12:53Speaker 2: That's even after this loss to the Rams.
- 12:55Speaker 1: That's not even a hot take anymore. I don't see
- 12:57Speaker 1: them losing another game early this season. I said this
- 13:00Speaker 1: Seahawks after they lost to the Niners. I didn't think
- 13:02Speaker 1: they're gonna lose another game at home. Sounded crazy because
- 13:05Speaker 1: a bat their home record was. They lose a crazy
- 13:07Speaker 1: game with the Buccaneers missing a lot of guys, but
- 13:09Speaker 1: you started to see them improve it home win three
- 13:10Speaker 1: in a row. It's not crazy how good this team is.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So I'm excited to see what it could be elsewhere.
- 13:16Speaker 1: In the division of forty nine Ers Cardinals. It ended
- 13:19Speaker 1: up the way he thought it would. Cardinals, they get behind, big,
- 13:23Speaker 1: Niners come back, they beat him. Forty one twenty two.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Rock Party made his return, had a pretty good game.
- 13:29Speaker 1: He was let's see nineteen of twenty six two hundred yards,
- 13:32Speaker 1: three touchdowns, Christian McCaffrey one hundred and twenty one total yards,
- 13:35Speaker 1: three tudies, George Kittles sixty seven yards on six receptions,
- 13:38Speaker 1: two touchdowns. On the Cardinals side, Jacobe Brissett had a
- 13:42Speaker 1: career high four hundred and fifty two yards passing forty
- 13:45Speaker 1: seven for fifty seven. He threw two touchdowns, had two interceptions.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Cardinals are in a bad way. They're sinking fast. Who
- 13:52Speaker 1: knows what's gonna happen there, but the Niners again hanging around.
- 13:56Speaker 1: It's kind of there. You're gonna have take care of
- 13:59Speaker 1: business against them in week eighteen and the season. Hopefully
- 14:01Speaker 1: that'll be to clinch something special, but we'll see what
- 14:04Speaker 1: happens there. Anyway. Forty nine Ers will host the Panthers
- 14:06Speaker 1: on Monday night football. Cardinals welcome in the Jacksonville Jaguars
- 14:09Speaker 1: on Sunday after noon. But let let's football attention back
- 14:14Speaker 1: to these Tennessee Titans. Man up, Hey, who you got?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Who you got? You know what time it is? Man up?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Man up, brother, man up, man up on Hawk Talk.
- 14:23Speaker 2: All right, let's do it.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Let's talk about cam Ward, Gokots, Cam Warrig and the
- 14:27Speaker 4: Titans are obviously in a touch spot. They're one to nine.
- 14:29Speaker 4: It's hard out there for pim and I feel bad
- 14:33Speaker 4: for this dude, but not this week. Man Ward actually
- 14:35Speaker 4: played ball in Texas. He intended the university of the
- 14:38Speaker 4: carnad Ward. He was an FCS All American in the
- 14:41Speaker 4: South End Conference Player of the Year.
- 14:43Speaker 2: He said, I'm moving on up, So what do he do?
- 14:45Speaker 2: He transferred to WSU.
- 14:46Speaker 4: He started twenty five games, going sixty nine hundred and
- 14:49Speaker 4: sixty three yards and forty eight touchdowns. I called like
- 14:52Speaker 4: three of his games. It was fun watching him through
- 14:54Speaker 4: was saying. He also had thirteen rushing touchdowns. From there,
- 14:58Speaker 4: he took his tallenge to South Beach. He went to
- 14:59Speaker 4: Miami me where he had an unbelievable season twenty twenty four.
- 15:02Speaker 4: He is a Heisman Trophy cannadis uh excuse me, final
- 15:05Speaker 4: Heisman Trophy finalists, and he was also the Davy O'Brien
- 15:09Speaker 4: Award winner, n C Double All American, First Team ACC
- 15:12Speaker 4: Player of the Year, ACC Offensive Player of the Year,
- 15:15Speaker 4: and first team.
- 15:16Speaker 2: All ACC All.
- 15:19Speaker 4: This led him to being drafted by the Tennessee Titans,
- 15:21Speaker 4: number one overall. It's crazy to see where he came from,
- 15:24Speaker 4: right He in carneg Ward, he went to a score
- 15:26Speaker 4: that hardly threw the football in high school, goes to
- 15:28Speaker 4: the carneg Ward WSUFCS.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Just the journey's been crazy and so It makes me
- 15:34Speaker 4: proud because I got to follow his journey, obviously me
- 15:36Speaker 4: being a coop or whatnot and doing some research. But
- 15:39Speaker 4: he's in a tough spot over there with the Titans
- 15:41Speaker 4: right now. But he's a he's a good ball player.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy down in Tennessee. If you will say
- 15:45Speaker 1: anything come out of there. They're ready to give up
- 15:46Speaker 1: on him, yeah, which I think is unbelievably premature for
- 15:49Speaker 1: a guy that's in the situation and quite frankly, does
- 15:52Speaker 1: not have the weapon. Ain't go no help that head
- 15:54Speaker 1: to be successful as a rookie quarterback in the NFL.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So yeah, I think they got to give him some
- 15:59Speaker 1: grace or people talking about that. Draymond and Jones, a
- 16:01Speaker 1: former Seahawk who was down there. They traded him, I believe,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and on his way out he was like, yo, I
- 16:06Speaker 1: give the brother some time.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:07Speaker 4: And and because they're probably gonna have the number one pick.
- 16:11Speaker 4: And with that number one pick, you start getting quarterback fever.
- 16:14Speaker 4: You want to go get you when I say, get
- 16:15Speaker 4: his man with that number one pick, go get him
- 16:17Speaker 4: a great offensive lineman, defensive lineman.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Give him something that can help him have some success.
- 16:21Speaker 1: One hundred percent and bump just to get some numbers
- 16:23Speaker 1: out of how bad they are. They're last in the
- 16:25Speaker 1: NFL in total yards to forty two. Their struggles, like
- 16:28Speaker 1: we said, are not all on him, but you look
- 16:29Speaker 1: at his numbers last week coming off on him. His
- 16:31Speaker 1: better games twenty four to thirty seven, one ninety four,
- 16:34Speaker 1: one touchdown against the Houston on the season, one ninety
- 16:37Speaker 1: four for three thirty two fifty eight completion percentage one
- 16:40Speaker 1: nine hundred and fifty four yards, six touchdowns, six interceptions.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it's hard out there. It's hard. Ain't gonna help.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I'm watching the film. Nost pockets collapsing, receivers aren't getting open.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Poulard does a good running back too. I think we'll
- 16:53Speaker 4: talk about them. Paul's a good running back. But where
- 16:55Speaker 4: de Lane's at, y'all? Just keep up the good work
- 16:57Speaker 4: this week.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Well, I hope it continues to be hard for him
- 16:59Speaker 1: this week right after that bump, and we'll see what
- 17:01Speaker 1: happens that leads us to our quarterback, Sam Darnold. He's
- 17:05Speaker 1: coming off the toughest performance he's had as a Seahawk,
- 17:07Speaker 1: that's obvious. He did have the four interceptions twenty nine
- 17:10Speaker 1: to forty four two seventy nine, zero touchdowns. But again,
- 17:15Speaker 1: for me, you don't one game does any erase everything
- 17:18Speaker 1: that we've seen. Same way the two games at the
- 17:20Speaker 1: end in Minnesota did not erase the fourteen games before that.
- 17:22Speaker 1: You can't look at everything through a microscope in that sense. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: it's a game. He wish he had some throws back
- 17:27Speaker 1: one thousand percent. But you know, he again has been
- 17:31Speaker 1: so good this year. I have no doubt that he's
- 17:32Speaker 1: gonna get bounced back against this Tennessee defense, who's twenty
- 17:36Speaker 1: fourth in the NFL. He's still among the league's best.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Seventh in the NFL in passing yards, first in yards
- 17:41Speaker 1: per past attempt, first, in yards per completion seventh and
- 17:44Speaker 1: pass the rating fourth of QBR, second and completion percentage.
- 17:47Speaker 1: That's after a bad game. He's still balling. He's still
- 17:49Speaker 1: that dude, and the Seahawks are still protecting him often
- 17:52Speaker 1: the blind shout out. He's only been sacked ten times
- 17:54Speaker 1: this year. I don't expect that number to go up
- 17:56Speaker 1: a ton this year, as long as they block Jeffrey Simmons,
- 17:58Speaker 1: who will get to in a little bit.
- 18:00Speaker 4: What I like about Darnold playing this week is that
- 18:02Speaker 4: with the Vikings. He had two bad games and couldn't
- 18:05Speaker 4: rectify this. The season's over right now. He's got a game,
- 18:09Speaker 4: all right, let me shake this off and get going
- 18:11Speaker 4: against the Tennessee Titans.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Let's talk about their running back.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Tony Pollard, good running back, is in the second season
- 18:17Speaker 4: with the Titans, as seventh in the NFL. Man he's
- 18:19Speaker 4: been in the leg seven years, already spent five years
- 18:21Speaker 4: with the Dallas Cowboys. From twenty two to twenty four.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Pauler had back to back one thousand yard seasons. So
- 18:26Speaker 4: far this year, he's a little bit behind pace. He's
- 18:28Speaker 4: got five hundred and two yards two touchdowns, averaging three
- 18:31Speaker 4: point nine per clip.
- 18:32Speaker 2: He's a talented back and he can hurt you.
- 18:34Speaker 4: You see, if you are a student of the game,
- 18:37Speaker 4: you understand how backs moved.
- 18:38Speaker 2: You see the potential them. He could break off a
- 18:40Speaker 2: big one.
- 18:41Speaker 4: They have the worst rushing attack in the league, the
- 18:43Speaker 4: Titans seventy eight yards per game. The Seahawks have been
- 18:45Speaker 4: great against the run. They're six, allowing ninety three yards
- 18:48Speaker 4: per game, and the Seahawks have gone nineteen consecutive games
- 18:50Speaker 4: consecutive games without allowing a one hundred yard to rush it.
- 18:53Speaker 4: That's tied for the longest streak in the NFL.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm really hoping that that street doesn't end rolling
- 18:59Speaker 1: a smell.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 1: No, they're good players and bump. I'll take everyone behying
- 19:02Speaker 1: the curtain a little bit. I arranged this so I
- 19:05Speaker 1: would have to say these names perfectly.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I appreciate why you don't think I can do it.
- 19:08Speaker 2: You don't think I can do it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't have a ton of faith. You haven't practiced
- 19:11Speaker 1: a lot. I think you're gonna get it right by Sunday.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I know that, but I wasn't sure. We didn't really
- 19:16Speaker 1: talk about it before. Anyway, I do jack of one
- 19:19Speaker 1: of these names today. So we're gonna talk about the
- 19:21Speaker 1: Titans receiving core. It's it's been tough. It's been tough.
- 19:25Speaker 1: They're playing some rookies. Started off Okay, Calvin Ridley, that's
- 19:28Speaker 1: the name. You know. He's been a thousand yards receiver
- 19:31Speaker 1: in this league. He's been banged up, comes back last
- 19:33Speaker 1: week first play boom fibulous done done for the year
- 19:37Speaker 1: after just making a thirteen yard catch. So that's been tough.
- 19:39Speaker 1: On the season, he had seventeen receptions for just three
- 19:42Speaker 1: hundred three yards, So who was not lighting the world
- 19:44Speaker 1: on fire? Then we enter in Chigokonquo. He is the
- 19:48Speaker 1: tight end by groupman here as a pass catcher, he's
- 19:50Speaker 1: the team's leading receiver. Thirty two receptions, three hundred and
- 19:53Speaker 1: thirty seven yards, zero touchdowns. For context, everybody out there,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and jig but has eleven hundred yards. Now,
- 20:00Speaker 1: I know that's the very top, but now we're looking
- 20:02Speaker 1: at the very bottom. Just for context, out there, next
- 20:06Speaker 1: leading receiver, you got the rookie. You got the rookie receiver,
- 20:09Speaker 1: elik i Ow min or man, I still mess it up.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's man only. I only know because I cover
- 20:17Speaker 2: the pac twelve right stands.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, I man. And he's a good player again,
- 20:22Speaker 1: but he's a rookie. Twenty eight receptions, three hundred and
- 20:24Speaker 1: thirty four yards, two touchdowns. He's dealing with the hamstring injury,
- 20:26Speaker 1: so we're gonna see if he's gonna playhim. And then
- 20:28Speaker 1: you have another rookie, Okay Chim array dk and Uh.
- 20:34Speaker 1: He's being evaluated for incussion during the game. He came back, however,
- 20:37Speaker 1: he got he left the game at the end with
- 20:39Speaker 1: a chess contusion, so we're unsure if he's going to play.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Now that brings us to Van Jefferson. You play for
- 20:44Speaker 1: the Rams, that's the game, you guys know. And then
- 20:46Speaker 1: Mason Kinsley shout out, Mason Kinsley, he's my fellow D
- 20:49Speaker 1: three brethren out trying to make moves in the NFL game.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So I say, all have to say, they got some
- 20:55Speaker 1: players out there, but their receiving core is dinged up.
- 20:57Speaker 1: This is not going to be pookin the cool. This
- 20:59Speaker 1: is not DeVante at him advantage Seahawks. Seahawks are fourteen
- 21:02Speaker 1: against the pass. But I would love to see what
- 21:04Speaker 1: Cherik wooland Josh Joe, Devin Witherspoon. I want to challenge him.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I want to see him take the ball away this week.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, man, be aggressive aggressive? Oh come on, you know,
- 21:15Speaker 4: old school from my eighties and early nineties. Babies out there,
- 21:18Speaker 4: all right, Jason, let's talk about our receivers. Jason Cooper
- 21:21Speaker 4: cover she Shaheed against the Titans. We talked about Jason
- 21:23Speaker 4: to open up this show. One O five twelve targets,
- 21:27Speaker 4: broke some records, broke Steve largest record for most one
- 21:30Speaker 4: hundred yard receiving games in a season, he's at eleven
- 21:32Speaker 4: hundred and forty six. When it comes to yards, the
- 21:34Speaker 4: next closest receiver is Jamar Chase at two eighty five.
- 21:38Speaker 4: And he ain't gonna play this week. Yeah, he he
- 21:40Speaker 4: ain't gonna play this week. Don't do that bad, gonna
- 21:43Speaker 4: be spitting at a man. I liked Tomlin's response to
- 21:46Speaker 4: exactly what's your message to Jalen Rams? He goes, there's
- 21:49Speaker 4: no message. You react the way you want to if
- 21:51Speaker 4: a man spits in your face. Exactly.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I love I love me some tomin man.
- 21:55Speaker 4: But Jayson, he leads the NFL and yards per game
- 21:58Speaker 4: one fourteen point six. He leads in a fell in
- 22:00Speaker 4: yards per touch fifteen point three. He's tied for fourth
- 22:03Speaker 4: in yards per reception fifteen point nine.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But yeah, best receiving the game right now. It's not close.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And he and I love to see each and every week.
- 22:11Speaker 1: We're really spoiled in this market. Can't wait one hundred
- 22:13Speaker 1: and fifty eight yards? Does he break the record this week?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Hundred fifty eight?
- 22:17Speaker 1: It's tight. I don't know this game could get out
- 22:19Speaker 1: of hand. Yeah, obviously, Coach McDonald, all the players, we
- 22:22Speaker 1: know you guys are taking this Seriously, me and Bump
- 22:23Speaker 1: could have.
- 22:23Speaker 2: These games seats we can do we can do this,
- 22:25Speaker 2: we can do this. I don't know, maybe he doesn't.
- 22:28Speaker 1: He's gonna have to get at least one hundred twenty
- 22:29Speaker 1: in the first half though, just because I don't know
- 22:31Speaker 1: if he's in planes.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I know that's that's a good call.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Anyway, we'll see, we'll see, all right.
- 22:35Speaker 4: We got out a Cooper Cup twenty nine receevens for
- 22:37Speaker 4: three ninety and one touchdown.
- 22:38Speaker 2: He's on pace to do what I thought he was
- 22:40Speaker 2: gonna do.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Honestly, you said around seven hundred, right, yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Six seven were good. Rashisha head right now, Hi sha heat.
- 22:49Speaker 2: We got to get this guy going.
- 22:50Speaker 4: He has six touches in the last two games, and
- 22:51Speaker 4: I understand what they're doing, right, They're trying to slowly
- 22:53Speaker 4: get him acclimated. He's on the field for thirty four
- 22:56Speaker 4: percent of the offensive snaps last week, twenty one play
- 22:58Speaker 4: seven snaps on special Yeah, we gotta get him going.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Two carries twenty yards against the Cardinals, had a kickoff return.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I think week by week we'll see a bit more
- 23:09Speaker 4: from him. So I'm hoping this. We always had a
- 23:11Speaker 4: touchdown last week, should have a touchdown last week. It's
- 23:13Speaker 4: great playing right, So he's he's getting there because that
- 23:17Speaker 4: was his first real red zone target too, So we
- 23:18Speaker 4: see them looking for him a bit more and he's even.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Sprinkle then he's I would imagine taking in Clint Kubiak's offense,
- 23:24Speaker 1: even though he was in it in New Orleans. Yeah,
- 23:27Speaker 1: terminology is all different. You're figuring out they're put it
- 23:30Speaker 1: in a bunch of different stuff. So I'm assuming he's
- 23:32Speaker 1: going to continue to get more reps and more accommended
- 23:34Speaker 1: to this offense. Now, the Titans is for as much
- 23:37Speaker 1: as we talked about what they don't have, here are
- 23:39Speaker 1: some dudes that they do have, and we're looking at
- 23:40Speaker 1: Jeffrey Simmons in a former seat Cody Barton. Jeffrey Simmons,
- 23:44Speaker 1: he's a dog man. The Titans might be twenty fourth
- 23:46Speaker 1: rank defensively, but it's not because of him. It's showing
- 23:50Speaker 1: he's a three time pro bowler. He is a game wrecker.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Seventh season in the NFL, eighteenth overall pick in twenty nineteen,
- 23:55Speaker 1: started ninety of ninety two games, played thirty seven career sacks,
- 23:58Speaker 1: and interior lineman. Last year, he had a career high
- 24:01Speaker 1: seventy six tackles, five sacks, nine QB hits, four pass
- 24:04Speaker 1: defended earned in Pro Bowl honor. So far in eight
- 24:06Speaker 1: games this year, he's making his presidence felt thirty three tackles,
- 24:09Speaker 1: five and a half sacks, twelve QB hits, nine TfL is,
- 24:12Speaker 1: one force fumble, and I'll say this about him. Mike
- 24:14Speaker 1: McDonald spoke this week at his press conference. Seahawks had
- 24:16Speaker 1: that joint practice in Tennessee. You know, a year and
- 24:18Speaker 1: a half ago. At this point when I was there,
- 24:22Speaker 1: you didn't know the delta between these two teams at
- 24:25Speaker 1: the time. But coach McDonald talked about He's like, man,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I wish we could bury some of that film because
- 24:30Speaker 1: this guy was making a lot of plays, and just
- 24:31Speaker 1: how far the Seahawks have come even from that joint practice,
- 24:34Speaker 1: whole new staff, all the newness I was coming out
- 24:36Speaker 1: of that. So that was cool to see. But he's like,
- 24:38Speaker 1: I'm happy that the Titans and us are the only
- 24:40Speaker 1: people who have some of that film because I don't
- 24:43Speaker 1: like to look back at it. Because Simmons is a dog.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I will say this, though he is holding his he
- 24:47Speaker 1: mats accountable down there with this him post game, he said,
- 24:49Speaker 1: I'm tired of sugar coaton it. We need to be better,
- 24:52Speaker 1: especially at home. Can't have that many bleep in false starts.
- 24:56Speaker 1: There's no way we should have the many false starts
- 24:57Speaker 1: at home. I don't care. I'm tired of saving the
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm tired of losing. Talking about his tackles up both
- 25:03Speaker 1: starts on offense. Anyway, It'll be interesting to see if
- 25:05Speaker 1: his teammates respawn. But we know he's a guy who
- 25:07Speaker 1: can get it done. Yeah, he's a baller man and
- 25:09Speaker 1: he's a leader.
- 25:10Speaker 4: For himly to come out and say that whole guy's accountable, yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 4: accept that. You also got Cody Barton, former Seahawks man.
- 25:16Speaker 4: We had a moment with him and his girl in Germany,
- 25:19Speaker 4: sitting there eating dinner and having a good time.
- 25:21Speaker 2: And Cody's a good dude. Man.
- 25:23Speaker 4: He was drafted by the Seahawks in twenty nineteen and
- 25:26Speaker 4: played four seasons in Seattle and becoming his starter his
- 25:28Speaker 4: final year in twenty twenty two Man time Flies. Then
- 25:31Speaker 4: he played a season with Washington, Denver, and now Tennessee.
- 25:34Speaker 4: So far this season he's having the best year of
- 25:36Speaker 4: his career. I was just talking to Dave Wyman about him.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Dave was all minta Cody Barnes ball.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I go.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Of course, you think he's balling, but he actually actually
- 25:44Speaker 4: is balling.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 25:44Speaker 4: He leads the Titans with three interceptions, including one he
- 25:47Speaker 4: ran back for a touchdown. He also has seven passes defended,
- 25:50Speaker 4: both our career highs. On the season, He's got fifty
- 25:53Speaker 4: six tackles, three tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, one sack,
- 25:56Speaker 4: three interceptions, and seven passes defended.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Nice to see an old friend do his thing.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I love Cody. Cody was great. He was
- 26:03Speaker 1: great to me personally. He did everything we ever asked
- 26:06Speaker 1: of him.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And if you know anything about Dave Nyeman, he loved him.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Some cod Cody.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I want to see their embrace in Tennessee, and I
- 26:13Speaker 1: hope someone can film that. Jen Mueller see rabele Off.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Any of you guys, Steve Baby not Steve jan you
- 26:18Speaker 1: can film that. Let's see that. Lastly, we'll talk about
- 26:20Speaker 1: Cedric Gray. He's a tackling machine, one hundred and two tackles,
- 26:24Speaker 1: already third in the entire NFL, behind who else, Bobby Wagner,
- 26:28Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks to other people who were getting tackles.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Would defense be out there last, so he probably should
- 26:33Speaker 2: be third, right.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one tackles, one sack, excuse me, six TFLs,
- 26:39Speaker 1: two quarterback hits, one for more recovery in four passes defended.
- 26:43Speaker 1: We talked about it. We've previewed the Seahawks taken on
- 26:45Speaker 1: these Titans. We're going to tell you how they get
- 26:47Speaker 1: that done. Path to victory.
- 26:50Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the snat, Michael Dixon puts
- 26:53Speaker 2: it down. That kick is away.
- 26:55Speaker 1: If that kick is gone, good, say of twin, it's gun.
- 26:59Speaker 2: It's a path to victory.
- 27:01Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk Bump, we can say, yeah, I know
- 27:04Speaker 1: coach McDonald and the rest of this team will have
- 27:06Speaker 1: these boys ready to play. I know they got some
- 27:08Speaker 1: humble pie this week. They're back at it. I know
- 27:10Speaker 1: they did not have a walk through on Wednesday. They
- 27:12Speaker 1: put the pads on, so they are treating this game
- 27:14Speaker 1: as important as it should. Me and you, on the
- 27:16Speaker 1: other hand, we can look at this and look at
- 27:18Speaker 1: this game as the Seahawks should be dominant.
- 27:19Speaker 2: They should.
- 27:20Speaker 1: This is a much better football team, and you look
- 27:22Speaker 1: at it top to bottom offense, defense, special teams. The
- 27:25Speaker 1: Seahawks I think should hammer this team, and how are
- 27:28Speaker 1: they gonna do that? Bump taking care of the football.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Four interceptions last week obviously, that was the biggest outlaw
- 27:33Speaker 1: outlier of all outliers. I think they're going to clean
- 27:36Speaker 1: that up this week and they're going to need to
- 27:37Speaker 1: do that if they play well against Tennessee.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yep. And take care of your quarterback.
- 27:41Speaker 4: No sacks last week for Sam Donald, but you're seeing
- 27:44Speaker 4: Jeffrey Simmons this week and Sondell is au Grayzabele potentially out.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You gotta protect your quarterback, allow him to get back
- 27:50Speaker 4: into his groove, established a run early often, and then
- 27:54Speaker 4: go off top to Jason do your thing, and on defense,
- 27:57Speaker 4: get after cam Ward. He is the most sacked quarterback
- 27:59Speaker 4: in the game. He has a rookie make him look
- 28:01Speaker 4: like that.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been sacked forty one time, so let's add
- 28:04Speaker 1: another ten or something like that about that, and then
- 28:07Speaker 1: stop the run. Man, this is the worst rushing attack
- 28:09Speaker 1: in the National Football League. That does not mean Pollard
- 28:11Speaker 1: cannot hurt you, but as a collective unit, that's what
- 28:13Speaker 1: you do best. Let's not have this be the game
- 28:15Speaker 1: or they pop out and then again, while this is
- 28:17Speaker 1: the game. They should donomate. It's the NFL to respect
- 28:20Speaker 1: your opponent, which I know is not gonna be an
- 28:22Speaker 1: issue with the guys in this locker room.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Bump.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I'm excited to see the Seahawks get back on the
- 28:25Speaker 1: field after obviously a sour taste in their mouth after
- 28:28Speaker 1: what happened against the Rams. Butt a lot of games
- 28:31Speaker 1: they can win. We'll see what happens on Sunday. He's
- 28:33Speaker 1: Michael Bumbas on NASA Chobe. This has been Hawk Talk.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll be talking to you on Monday about a
- 28:38Speaker 1: Seahawks blow out victory in the Music City.
